There are several very cheap venues in the centre of this industrial town in South Wales. The best value of all is probably Studio 95, at 95 Mansel Street, tel. (01792) 467330. Their opening hours are 11am-5am approximately, though they will close earlier if not busy. Usually around 4-6 girls in attendance. I visited Swansea at early August this year (2010). I found Studio 95 on the internet. It is quite easy to find in Mansel Street. I rang the bell and was let in. Sex workers are continuing to tout for a business on a street in a notorious prostitution hotspot despite the coronavirus lockdown, it has been claimed.

The area around the former Palace Theatre on Swansea's High Street has long been a focus for sex work, drug dealing, and other kinds of anti-social behaviour.

In April last year police launched a major crackdown to try to tackle the problem.

But while much of the UK is on lockdown with people told to remain at home, it seems street prostitution is continuing at the location near the city's main train station.

One resident. Who did not wish his name to be made public. Said he had seen young women offering sex for sale in the area in recent nights.

He said: "At nine o'clock last night there were three girls there. I'm off work due this virus, and only go out a hour a day. These girls obviously think they're above the law and still try to sell sex to strangers.

"I did call the police last night and they did turn up. But these girls will wait around the corner for the police to go, and go back to the same place.

"It's just consistent up here. There's girls there every night. I have seen punters most of whom are old men. The girls seem to target them."

Eerily deserted cities in south Wales after further government restrictions imposed.

Last year's Operation Jaeger saw police step up an enforcement campaign against men and women engaging in sex work in High Street, as well as those visiting the area to exploit them.

The philosophy behind the campaign was to offer support to those selling sex to help them tackle the issues that led them into the dangerous behaviour. But if the help was rejected, action including prosecution could follow.

At the time it was thought that there were around 100 sex workers in the area.
