It may be listed as Al Ahram Street. But many cab drivers will know Africana (now Nirvana) by name. Far East is not nearby; it is in Maadi across the river - for directions consult earlier posts for the address.

I’ve now moved on from Egypt after nearly five years. May not be a mongering paradise but no way as bad as some may paint it. The local Egyptians mongers have earned themselves a reputation for being a bit sharp financially. I can’t blame then for wanting the best deal but equally they can’t be surprised if the girls, with good cause, ever fearful of a rip off , treat them with caution.

The best venue from the pov of a Maadi dweller has to be the Far East. Could always rely on a female from there at the end of the evening if you had the urge. I never paid more than 600 EGY which included as many pops as I could muster until late the following day. The (hard faced) Chinese there were the exception, ever intent on driving a hard bargain so I left them alone. In any case no particular lookers. I feel bad for the guys I see posting recently, asking about MPs. The scene is very down right now, with an apparent crackdown having taken place. Here are some recent experiences, mostly depressing.

International Center for Chinese Medicine
In November this place relocated from its location in Agouza (an ideal one - on the first floor but outside landing of an apartment building, so few residents and no bawaab to scurry past) to building just a couple of blocks away. I had a massage there on its first night in the location. But when I stopped by the other weekend none of my girls were there, and the veiled receptionist said it was now a beauty salon. World Spa, Masakin Sheraton

Holiday Express Hotel Spa

Went to Maadi today to check out all the reports on the MP on Road 231 (holy crap its a long way from citystars) as have had no luck at all with MP's in Heliopolis area. Actually, it closed down for the opposite reason and I heard they were relocating anyway. So as an alternative, though a rather pricier one for tamer service, the Siag hotel health club is an option.

I was calling some telephone numbers for massage parlors from an old copy of Al Waseet advertising newspaper, just on a whim hoping that not all of the places had actually closed down. I had never looked much at Giza anyway but expected to be in the neighborhood this last weekend so gave it a shot. Many numbers were indeed out of service, but one turned out to be for the Siag hotel's front desk (33860112), which forwarded me to the health center where they confirmed they had massage. So I headed there, kind of worried that it would just be a legit hotel health club with sport massage (and probably by a guy).

But once I saw the Siag I was reassured. It is one of these deteriorating, ugly, depressing, 40 year old hotels that seems to just barely be holding on, like the Sherazade in Agouza where I had nice times at a similar "health club" a long time ago. (The hotel is on Maryutia Road by the canal, turn left on Maryutia Road off Pyramids Road heading toward the pyramids). The gym (with completely decrepit locker rooms) is downstairs through the lobby and bar, near the swimming pool. The captain, who speaks English, asked me to wait for about 20 minutes, and then showed me into a hotel room at poolside, where I paid the LE200.

The two girls on duty that day were a tarty, made up vixen in tight clothes, and a 20-year old big breasted girl-next-door type. I got the latter, and she was very friendly. After 30 minutes of a so-so massage she told me "khalas," "finished," prompting me to ask for extras and a round of negotiating (in Arabic only)- she basically held out firmly for LE100, which seems to be the going rate based on recent experiences.

Thursday to Sunday night, Admission is 100 Egyptian Pounds wich gives you 2 coupons for 2 beers. After that, make sure you have correct change as the waiters will not give you back your change. I’m pretty excited about an MP discovery I made yesterday. Last week I was in a taxi crawling through traffic on Pyramids Road in Giza, when I noticed a creatively-spelled name on a sign outside a third-floor apartment window: “Goudy Jam.” The pictures of people exercising confirmed the intent of the butchered spelling. I haven’t noticed the taxi drivers of the new white meter taxis being that bad about trying to run up the fare; I think the dishonest ones tend to rig their meters to run faster and more expensive, but I’ve only had one of these in the last year. For a foreigner, I think the cost savings of the Metro would not be outweigh the convenience of taking a meter taxi from say Tahrir Square to Nervana, which would cost around LE25-30. Just try to learn a basic Arabic greeting and the Arabic words for your destination (i.e., Naadi Nervana fi Sharia Haram). Also, sometimes the more seemingly roundabout route is the better one; recently a taxi driver turned around after a few minutes driving on Pyramids Road and took us on the Ring Road to get to Agouza. I was skeptical and thought he was driving up the fare until I realized that the much lighter traffic on the Ring Road vs. Pyramids Road that night was the superior route choice.

Royal Spa: Maadi: well went for a body massage and the lady at the reception was cute. And she did ask what type of massage. I said full body. With oil 90 mins. I was taken to a nice room. Massage lady was egytpian. And 6/10. But hot figure. They provide you plastic boxers. I tried to offer her money upto 200 EGP but she refused. Anything special. I didn't spend a lot of time in Cairo but it seems like this is the place to go.

There are a lot of clubs all around the same area here. And at least one massage parlor where full service is available even if not on the regular menu (details below) Some of the clubs seem to cater to regular club goers and it might be possible to pick up regular girls at these places. Then there are others that have prostitutes. I think the most notorious is Africana which has been renamed something else, I forget now what. Full of African prostitutes inside. Lots of Kenyans, Sudanese, Somalis, Nigerians. I don't like this place because it is SOOOO dark. I had to get out my flashlight just to see if the girl sitting 12 inches in front of me was good looking or not. Not a good place to pick out girls to have sex with.

Next to this club there are other smaller clubs that are all tiny little shitholes. I think there are Arab girls available inside including Egyptians and Moroccans. I don't know because I didn't stick around long enough to find out. I would try to avoid these places unless you are just desperate for Arab girls. I was told to just come in and look, of course, then once inside they pressure you to sit down and start ordering immediately. The guys outside told me I could have the girls inside for between 100 and 250 pounds. But what a bad environment. If you agree to have a drink then when you leave they will try to foist some ridiculous bill on you where they charge for every stupid thing. I didn't even read my bill. I had one drink and agreed to one lady drink and yet my bill somehow was about 12 items long. I gave the manager 50 or 100 pounds I think and refused to pay more than that. The girls inside that club at first were pretty friendly. Some were doable but none very attractive. But after I said that I would like to see one of them. That girl just went and sat somewhere and started smoking. WTF? She wasn't paying attention to me at all, wasn't that hot. So I just left.

The one prostitute that I picked up in Cairo was a girl from Kenya I met at the Marriott. I got her number then went to meet her in her own neighborhood later. She wasn't nearly as pretty out in daylight without all her makeup on, but I fucked her anyway. Later she met me at Africana and I took her home and got a freebie.

All in all, though. I would stay away from Egypt. I hated Sharm and had no luck there. Cairo was better but didn't have a lot of luck there, either. And I had more problems at my hotel than I've ever had before even in Saudi Arabia. Also I don't think the African I picked up was clean.

Arabs that have enough money would not dream of washing their own laundry- so you can find laundries and dry cleaners, but not coin-operated washing machines. If they can't afford to go to the laundries then they are washing their own clothes at home in the sink, or they have their maid do it for them.

That said, you are absolutely right the hotels will rip you off big time. Just ask someone at the front desk or the concierge where the nearest laundry is and go there. Or go out for a walk until you find one. Still a bit expensive but much cheaper than using the hotel.
