BBSorry to hear but you are not the 1st one to report such con. The MO is the same, a friendly man will join you and inform you where to find the youngest, collage student type etc and take you to a local bar. In Africa never trust anyone you don't personally know and don't carry large amount of cash (USD 300 is alot of money in Ethiopia).
You can still have alot of fun and can get amenities if you go to the upmarket places. But as you said it is stupidly expensive and you don't get value for money compared to SE Asia.

NGO's and the UN in Addis are paying "consultants" 600 or 800 US $ a day plus accomodation in any upmarket hotel. Those guys don't value money. They give a shit whether they pay 10 $ or 100 $ - and for us regular visitors and people who have to earn money by real hard work, its the end of a previous paradise (sort of). Everyone who gives in the morning a parting fee of 70 or 100 $ hits one more nail in the coffin of reasonable mongering in a 3rd world country.
The same thing happened to every country where NGOs do try to better the life of the poor people: Cambodia as an example. But instead they first look after themselves with big 4 WD's, good salaries, and no stress at work. The poors getting poorer and the corrupt contractors getting fat jobs paid by the taxpayer from another civilized country.
We "others" just have to accept that sad reality in Addis. No need to fret about it. Just lets move on to greener pastures.

I live in Dubai and it's a fairly short flight to get to Addis Ababa. 3 to 4 hours.
If I couldn't go for more than 5 days is it worth the effort for that short a trip? Or would it be better to just wait for when I can take a full two weeks?
Also if staying in Addis Ababa are shots necessary? Or can you get by without them?

Well, I have to come with a little disclaimer regarding my statement. A lot of girls consider me young and handsome and I'm quite fit.

Got my old Toyota (450 Birr a day) from the rental like last October. Perfect condition CD player and radio. Drove all in all 800 km like before. I have only been to a Addis for a weekend and unfortunately can not be very helpful. I know three more that are set up in a row. You can't really tell that they are any different than the other bars around them but all the services you mentioned are still available there. AppleApple, I stayed at Tizeze it is a good hotel and very friendly staff no questions asked about the girls I use to bring to my room. The only problem with this hotel is the terrible location! There is nothing close by. Basically just an infection that gets in the blood and can effect the heart (among other things). It's not just STD related. You can get it through dental infections etc.

Basically you have a 3% chance of your clap migrating to your blood. And if you win that lottery then you have a 2% risk of having heart issues.

I went to Ethiopia in June for 9 days. Before that I had a three week trip in Angeles City in the Philippines in April / May. Since my second day in the hospital, when the IV antibiotics kicked in, there haven't been any symptoms I feel. But my heart is fucked up, it needs a valve job.
If someone told me: if you get gonorrhea, then you've got a 1/3000 chance of getting super clap, and a 1/5 chance of dying from that complication, I would have thought: I'll take that risk, sounds pretty unlikely. But I never heard of it till I got it.

Badoo and Tagged are mainly for civilians. Unfortunately you won't get them for just 300 bir because you have to take them on a date normally dinner and movie. It was the first time I visited Addis Ababa, and I must say I didn't like the place at all. Rip-offs everywhere. 2) Altitude sickness: Both Addis and Nairobi are freaking high (2,300 m / 1,800 m) - In the past I've gotten sick traveling to Dalat (1,500 m) - first manic, then inability to sleep, paranoia, racing heart, irritability. (which quickly diminished on ride back to Saigon). Anyone experience problems in Addis?
I read that cabin pressure is the same as being at 2,500 m. And the most I get is a little anxious. And some flights are 22 HR. So wondering if it's all just mental.

As to a weak immune system I would ask a doctor if it is advisible to go to a third world country at all.

If you are indeed very prone to altitude sickness, it would be wise to speak to your doctor. There are some drugs (acetazolamide) that helps your body to adapt to a higher altitude. Otherwise you will have to arrange for a few days of rest before you exert yourself. Usually the body adapts itself to the higher altitude after a few days.

When I said immune compromised I should have been clearer. I live in Asia (the third world) so yeah I understand the germs. However I've always had a low white blood cell count (since a kid), I just have a somewhat lower immune system (will get upper respiratory infections, thrush, tonsillitis) pretty easily. But they're always treatable. I'm mid 40's and am only sick on average twice a year and I'm sleeping with new girls (and dining at Y) a few times a week (lots of new bacteria etc) for last decade. Part of it has to do with carrying too much weight and eating too much sugar, not enough exercise. Trying to fix this.

In Dalat I literally freaked out badly. Anxiety, paranoia, couldn't breathe, total panic attack. Had to call a taxi and head back to Saigon 24 HR after arriving. However in retrospect it could have been another issue (I haven't had caffeine in 24 years (allergic) - and I think they served me reg. Coffee instead of decaf) - ha. (3 cups within 40 min).
The end result is that I'm now paranoid about altitude. Sometimes the 'worrying' will do more harm than the physical ailment.
I might head to Nairobi first (5,900 ft) and after a week head to Addis (7,700 ft). Or might just chuck the whole Addis / Nair thing, or go only to Mombassa, Dar es Salaam and Zanzi. Along the coast.

Silent Reader, but I must contribute because this section on Addis Ababa is lacking.
I will try to focus on Addis Ababa, because its the best destination for meeting Ethiopian girls from diverse ethnic backgrounds, opposed to visiting the geographic regions of Ethiopia. In Addis you will be able to meet girls from all Ethiopian ethnic groups + girls from neighboring nations if you go out & look for them. I will try to divide the Pro from the Semi-Pro in Addis (although it gets blurry). I will also list the prices in Birr (21 Birr= $1, if you have $ you can sell it for up to 22.5 birr). That said, I don't advise you to bring in dollars, because myself & many tourists got pick pocketed (Ethiopians are not violent, but they are quick handed, both guys & girls will go for your $ if they detect it, so be very careful & expect to "lose" something if you come here).
First thing first, Ethiopian girls don't normally offer any kind of Oral, if they do its primitive & against their instincts, they preform better physically. So those who insist on oral must be warned early on.
Overnight fee (I don't do overnights, although Ethiopian girls will offer all night for double ST fee or sometimes to stay over if they want to call it a day. Usually it means they want to get actual sleep 99% & will give you a morning session 70% -not a sure thing!- or she might steal 1% don't expect an actual multiple pop action all night, its against Ethiopian norms, have manners don't wake her up, just cause you got hard, she will not cooperate & might ruin your morning session.
**Pro Girls (by Location).
* Bole (Haya Hulet FMKA Chechnya).
This area between (Mickey Leland st, Djibuti st & Hali Gebre Selassie st) has about 10 spots to pick up girls & the general area is a pick up zone, concentrating in Mickey Leland bars. The girls are average Ethiopian which is (6 to 7 in global standards) & the price will depend on you, but in general 200 Birr gets you a ST (locally called short) Local men pay half of that but as a foreigner 200 birr is standard, I used to try to be generous, but it backfired & now I just go out try various girls, sometimes just pay & pass & save my energy for the ones I want. Once I find the one, I spend more on getting her lotions, perfume & clothes but that is my own choice & usually already outside the Pro setting (in Ethiopia Non-Pro always costs more).
Highest paid (1000 Birr for a Bar owner that I just wanted right away & had her leave her store for a short) Face = 7, Body = 9.
Lowest paid (200 Birr) various girls 6 to 8.
* Kazanchis (historic Red Light District).
Just 1 km north of Haya Hulet, you enter Kazanchis the older Red Light district. It gets active After 7 pm. Girls here know less English compared to Bole, the rates are the same & quality a bit lower than Haya Hulet, but I just pass by to make sure I am not missing out, hit & miss.
Highest paid (1000 Birr) paid the girl 300, but she managed to take about 700 out of my pocket when I was in the shower (4th date) Face= 7, Body= 7.
Lowest paid (200 Birr) various girls 6 to 7.
* Piyassa, Old Italian Piazza.
This part of Addis is about 2 Km NW of Kazanchis, the whole Piyassa becomes active after 7 pm, girl looks here are on the same level as Bole, but they tend to be from rural backgrounds, muslim ones wear head gear & Christian ones will were blouses & in general girls here speak less English. However, they are friendly & will understand if you ask for a short. They are the girls standing by the walls, not to be confused by the possible semi-pro or non-pro walking by trying to catch a ride out of the Piyassa station, those will be walking, if you want to be sure always approach girls standing on the wall next to other girls. They all look average (Ethiopian average = 6 to 7 global), in Piyassa there are also some "hotels" which confusingly means restaurant in Ethiopian, but also some have rooms. Bigger booty women tend to stay in those places (maybe they are too big for the streets), but its illegal to go to brothels in Addis, so be careful, those brothels charge 300 500 its not very clear to me, because I never tried it hands first, I went inside used the restrooms, look at the girls, but it was illegal, so I didn't do it. However, its legal to pay girls in a non-brothel environment for sex as long she is 18-81 yo.
Highest paid (600 Birr) for specific request for 2 pops (not a good idea, always try ST first, then if you like it simply book another one).
Lowest paid (200 Birr) regular first time rate for a ST.
**Semi-Pro & Non-Pro Girls.
I strongly advise to learn some Amharic & understand Ethiopian culture before approaching Semi-Pro & non-Pros, so its best to start with Pros early on & then try out Semi Pros & Non-Pros in that order IMHO, knowledge of Addis Abeba districts & demographics will help you choose the proper locations that suite you, in general very little can distinguish a Pro from a Non-Pro, mainly because the Pros in Addis Abeba are not that hard core & Non-Pros in general are well bred & have true sexual freedom, so in general as long as you have $, look decent & act decent you can get lots of Non-Pro girls, from my experience it always costs more Birr. The looks & attitude are the same, so I only go for a Non-Pro if she has very specific traits I am looking for & I try to make a clear budget, because some of these girls have poor judgment on how much they can score (possibly misguided or chasing the dragoon from a past experience with Millionaire Mark she might have scored), I had a girl flat out ask me for $2000 she needed for school, another girl took me to a specific store (example hair for 5000 birr & lots of other things asking me to buy them in front of pretty girls, I am certain its a team set up to pressure the guys she brings to buy over priced goods from her store), so I told her I can pay later, but not now. They were all offended & I had to crawl my way out of the ambush! Other girl was so cool came to my room pleasantly took off her clothes, let me see her body and out of no where started she crying and asked me for 5000 birr before I even touched her, so I was naturally moved, showed her my chivalry by putting her clothes back on, telling her I can't have sex with a girl who just needs money & gave her 200 birr for dramatic experience, wasted half a day with her & we were so cool, but her game was too dramatic for me, I didn't see that one coming! Non-Pro both sincere & scammers are not as easy / breezy as pros. So I am very picky with Non-Pros & always remember you will always pay for it one way or another, so don't try to be unfair, as usually it will only back fire. Insist on paying to close that problematic window of unpredictability, if she is above your budget. Then at least you know to either go ahead or walk away, it can be very confusing to mongers because the extra price is for emotional effort by the Non-Pro or Semi-Pro, so know what you want & don't be rude or lose your mind if she asks you for everything you have. Love is Everything & she is giving you love & she wants everything in return, take it or leave it.
**Hustlers.
Then there is the hustlers (they need a class of their own in Addis), those girls dress better than the average Ethiopian (they are the same girls, because again in Ethiopia the average peasant girl is pretty), but these girls work best with guys who like make up & have a big value for fashion / hygiene, these girls will position themselves strategically into your life, either at your hotel, club in a Pro or Semi-Pro setting. Once you are ready to go she will quote you a 1000 birr 2000 birr for an encounter, most guys go for it without bargaining, they can be usually bargained to 500 birr, but she will make it feel uncomfortable to bargain after she ensured to make you feel you are a VIP, the pressure is so strong, its usually done in front of one her friends, nothing aggressive, just smooth effective pressure. Those girls are very good at what they do / hustling / so whether its in H2O, Concorde, Yoly or just outside your Hotel lobby. Know it when it happens, if she looks like the girls on Music videos, she is one of them. Performance wise & looks nude is the same as any Pro girl mentioned above (generally above average, since you are in Ethiopia).
**Massage Spas.
The Massage Spas concentrate in Bole area (about 20 of them), the standard full body massage is 200 Birr (+100 birr for HJ or +300 for FS). I first tried to find some of the reviewed MPs on this forum in Bole area, but couldn't locate any with the best of effort. However, this turned out to be unnecessary, there's an MP literally every 3-5 min, whichever direction, whichever street in the Bole area. I deliberately walked a bit of a distance from my hotel and made my first pick:
Sabela Massage; right behind Aclana lodge (Google it) at the street corner to the south. The place had pretty ladies, 4 sitting around, with the pretext of a formal establishment, lab coats and all. They seem to take turns, so one of them got up and automatically walked me to the room, no chance to choose. She was good looking so I didn't protest. Her attitude, however turned out to be terrible. She gave a decent massage (seems she has some training), after about 20 min, flip, then another 5 five min on front side, then 'we are done'. I ask, what about extras? After learning I want FS, she quotes 1000, I say no way, and counter with 300. She says 300 is for HJ. I tried to negotiate, but she was firm. I said tough luck, wasn't going to get ripped off om my first Ethiopian booty, not if I could help it. It didn't help that we mostly used sign language because she spoke no English. I took a shower, paid the massage 200 and left. Literally 30 m or so to the south was another MP, Take Massage, I walked in.
Take Massage: Turn right as you walk out of Sabela and it is right there to the right of the cross street. Relatively new, they said it was 3 months old. This place was more of the AMP style you see in the US, blinking lights and all, no lab coat pretense. You know off the bat there is nookie to be had. Only 1 lady was free, but she was skinny and good looking so I didn't mind. She had a bubbly personality, spoke decent English, about 5'5", perhaps mid-late 20's, name Rosa or Roza. I didn't expect much on the massage side but she turned out to be a much better masseuse than the lady of Sabela. Small girl, but strong hands. Massage lasted about 20-25 min, then she asked what I wanted. We agreed on 300, but I ended up giving her 400 for the FS (+200 for massage), just because of the superior service. She is a dynamo in bed, excellent IOP, with some moves that only come with extensive experience. She gave me her number and requested that I call her when she's off duty. Good thing is that even if you get crappy service, it isn't such a blow to your pocket, just try the next, and the next, and eventually probability will work in your favor. Next time maybe I'll try takeout.

Hope everyone is doing well. I will be staying in Addis tomorrow for 5 days. I hope to share a positive report. Thanks to those on the forum who have provided so much needed clarity and great tips. I am hoping that this time around will be better than last time with a better location being secured on my part. Also a better understanding of best places to be.
Hope to share good news after a few days. Those who know me on the forum know how to reach me.
So, Addis was better overall than my first time.
I will try to provide as detailed a post as some that have been useful resources / references on this forum but I don't know the geography of Addis that well.
Accommodation:
I stayed at a hotel close to Edna mall of bole road. Those ones tend to be more pricey along they are GF friendly with the added feature of them calling you once the girl is leaving to make sure you have all the shit you brought with you. It was within walking distance of a few spas and a few places you can apparently meet "college girls". The "College girls" study varying degrees all of which don't make sense and if you are not carefully and ask about the pricing before hand they will try to con you out of every dime they can find or smell on you. A few forum members have already mentioned having to crawl out of these places but if you ask upfront no crawling required. That said this is a common hustle in every part of Ethiopia. The shame on you, cause I fooled you once angle. The advantage here is that Ethiopians are not violent. They will try to pressure you into agreeing that you are to blame. But the police will not take any of their bullshit so if someone pushs too hard invite them to come with you to a station. This applies to any scenario not just the college girls. These college girls are pretty much part of a brothel, brothels are illegal in Ethiopia.
But the more pricey your accommodation the bigger a target you have painted on your back. All manner of con artists and hustlers are waiting close by. That said you find less of them the further out of the city bar and club scene you stay, An example is Jupiter International or the Hilton. That said you could probably find a few barflys.
The Bar scene:
Anyway slept my first night then my 2nd night sat down a chatted with a college girl at the hotel bar. I had first passed her and said Hello, she looked interested. I came back later and bumped into her friends. Obviously a red flag was raised, I exchange a few words and went to pay my tab. The waiter ironically tried to add their drinks to my tab (like I needed to take responsibility for having sat down with them for 2 minutes well after they had started drinking). Her friends had a shitty attitude to boot. I refused and paid for only my drink. I then went to a club down the road and just chilled. The girl who I had met earlier was trying to call me. Telling me she wanted to meet. I just told her I was out at a club (it was the truth). If you are sure you want to pick up a girl in the bar. You pay for her drinks but not her friends. I do that to make sure everyone understands who I am interested in. These barflys / college girls will trying to over price themselves and provide well rehearsed dramas to guilt you into shelling out. I follow the guidlines on the forum. 300 to 500. Please note there are plenty of fish in the sea in Addis.
The spa scene:
Now things to note spas as described are easy to get to and 24 hrs. Girls are usually reasonably attractive but it is hit of miss the massage. I experienced the worse massage I have ever had at one of these places. Both times I didn't ask for extras. There are enough options in Addis to find the girls that are into you even a little bit. Not to be confused with their greater interest in your money. Keep your guard up. These girls will talk about hotel visits but mainly that is overpriced and not worth it. Massage at the place itself is usually 200 and FS 300 to 400. I would not suggest this route it is very hit and miss more so than most other options in Addis.
Club scene:
So while I was in the club (after ditching the 3 witches) I made sure to tip my waiter while drinking. He eventually brought a girl to me without my prompting. She could drink like a fish but thankfully the damage was not too much (300). Sadly she also had me tipping almost every other person as we walked out. So, again something to note for future reference. Now obviously she is a hustler. But what made her worth the investment is that she is a 3 hole aka all access girl. She blurted it out while on a rant about something or another related to her time in Italy. Took her to my hotel room and put her claims to the test and she delivered. This as anyone who has hobbied in Addis knows is very rare. Oral by itself is hard to get but open access is close to impossible. Her head game was not primative either it was informed and she had control of both her holes below her waist. Now one would assume the kicker would be is that she is fugly. That is not the case. I would say about a 6 or 7 both body and face.
What she is though is crazy and maybe a hardcore pro (don't leave valuables out). We agreed on 1000 which was probably above what she would have accepted. The added benefit is that most places outside states you pay after service is rendered. So, she backed up her claims and it was overnight. So, it felt worth it to me but that does not mean anyone should follow. Obviously YMMV. But overall the club scene works similar to the bar scene you can approach girls or have girls brought to you. It helps to be friend the locals but remember they will try to nickel and dime you if you don't keep track.
Street scene:
Things usually get started much later in Addis 10 pm or later but you will not hurt for variety. Another forum member has already outlined some good spots for pick ups. So if possible read the forum and you will be able to sort through most of the gibberish.
Taxi drivers: There are 2 kinds of drivers. Civilians who are not actually certified to drive a taxi and try to pick you up in their personal vehicles. Then there are the actually taxi driver who are in either blue cars usually older, more beat up and yellow cars usually newer. A ride regardless of the vehicle should not normally cost more than 200. Regardless of where they are taking you. They will try to charge you much more and are not very helpful when it comes to picking up girls.
Non-pros and semi-pros:
It is possible to do something with a non-pro but that takes time and as stated earlier is more expensive. Women like to be pampered and strangely punished. Now by punished I don't mean abuse or being rude etc. It would take a long time to explain but under almost every repressed conservative girl is a wild thing itching to come out. They want permission through you to do that to a certain extent. Thus yes they don't do oral normally but believe me girls / women this side don't only want to escape poverty. They want to escape cultural demands and expectations. Thus if you find someone who clicks with you well, you can usually get a lot more out of it.
That aside I stuck with the rare gem though the crazy came with it. I enjoyed the ride each time. I will share digits with seniors I know. She was talking about going to swiss in 3 months but I don't know if that was / is true. But she is open to more business the final cost is negotiable.
If you can and know the lay of the land well enough. Rent a car in Addis. It provides you so much less headaches.

I was met at the door by a pretty smiling Selam, so I decided to sample the hospitality on offer 300 birr for a Swedish massage seemed reasonable, after a quick shower, she goes on to provide a reasonable massage making sure to antagonize my private parts with slight touches, once done I ask for FS prices and got the usual run around, demanded 1000 bird, including the massage price, I declined in the end and went out to lunch instead.
Fast forward to 11 P.M, took a taxi from the hotel to club H20, it looked very uneventful so didn't stop there, ended up at Concorde instead which had a fair collection of good looking girls all eager to chat! Made a few new friends got a few phone numbers, but the girl I would have preferred was already with a Chinese guy, left at about 1 am loaded with phone numbers, got a cab back to the hotel but on the way there the driver suggested driving by club h20 for a "survey" of the land and there she was, tall; slim and beautiful with a tight looking ass that screamed "shag me" doggy style everyone she moved, I could take it no more, asked the driver to park and was able to negotiate 1000 birr for the night, I reckoned I'd get 2 shots out of her and was I right!
Back at the hotel, she signs the guest register, while I get some beers from the bar, went straight up with no problems, we both had a shower, I was so charged up I didn't need oral, she went straight to fucking me, and did she put her back into it, we fucked for an eternity as I liked it, and I think she enjoyed it too.
Woke up around 9 am and she had a quick shower, had one too after which I asked for morning treat, got my doggy in the end! Spent the rest of the day sleeping feeling totally drained. I hope to be up and about for Friday. Same routine, maybe rent a car, quotes at 350 birr a day with a 5 k deposit, open to better deals if anyone knows of them.

If you've seen my previous reports you'll know I've often been successful with Tinder. Not in Addis. There seems to be hardly anyone using it there. I rather belatedly got myself onto Afrointroductions, and although I was not very organized by the time I arrived, early on Monday morning two weeks ago, I had responses from three girls to my introductory messages. Hello. Thanks to all the contributors, been reading back a few years and taking notes, now I got a good idea what to expect on my first visit. I'll be sure to report back on what I come up with, and I apologize that my first post here is a question. Hoping to get some advise on my little problem, please. I got my eye on a nice little AirBnb apartment for two to three weeks in November but it's in Kazanchz. I don't care about location because I figured I'd rent a car and go explore, as usual. There was a couple posts saying it's real nice to have a car and one named a company and said it was as low as $15 US dollars a day. Well, this is not consistent with what I'm coming up with. I emailed that place and got no reply, just like the 9 other companies I contacted. One did reply but said no self drive. All the search engines came up with zero results. And all the chatter on the travel forums say they make it very difficult and you need an authenticated Ethiopian licence.
So my question please, does anyone have experience in renting a car or motorcycle in Ethiopia, or have any suggestions, please? Separately, if I can not pull that off, I'll need a place closer to city center. Because I love walking, but not so much for transportation. And I'm not into taking taxis 4 times a day. I saw a couple names mentioned but I'd appreciate a reminder, please. Budget is an issue, as I'm traveling extensively, but not at the expense of living in a dump. Moto bikes are not very popular in AA I guess. For renting a car you see advertisements in town (sign posts along street). I once rented a car for about 600 birr a day; from Atlas Hotel walk into direction of town center after about 200 m turn right into double lane to Kazanchiz, go another 200 on the left side, other side you should find a car rent, its little hidden, about 50 back from main road.
International driving license should be fine.

For those interested in venturing out of Addis, Hawassa is worth the time. A clean, well designed city, with a lake surrounded by some nice resorts good for hiding away. Not many tourist traps.
Massage parlors are just as abundant per capita as in Addis, especially around the higher end neighborhoods by the lake. The base pricing is also the same (200 birr / about $8. 50 for the massage). Extras can be negotiated down better than Addis, but not by much (200/300 for HJ / FS was typical). Many of the ladies are immigrants from Addis and they try to extract Addis prices from mongers.
On the downside, selection of ladies was a notch (or two) below Addis. Also, no place I visited had ladies sitting together to choose from. A (usually prettier) scantily dressed receptionist walks you to the room. Once you get naked, the real masseuse (almost always uglier than the receptionist) walks in. For this reason, you better stay in the room with clothes on till the real lady shows up so you can ask for another one, or easily bail if you don't like what you see. Or better ask to see the real masseuse before hand. I learnt this the hard way on my first attempt. I am laying butt naked, and the ugliest lady I ever met in a massage parlor walks in; big tummy, no ass, busted face. My dick went limp before it ever got hard. She, however, gave one of the best massages I ever had.
On the upside, every place I went gave the full h massage (45/50 min), and all were pretty good. No rushed service anywhere, and the receptionist always asked if I was satisfied. Maybe why the ladies tried real hard.
There's plenty of bars as well, but the ladies are just as hardcore as the Addis ladies, not my type at all. Good massage and extras for about $20 makes the EMPs hard to beat in my books.

Massage in Addis has been covered here plenty, but I had some experiences worth highlighting during my extended stay. The going rates are currently 200/400 for massage / FS (about $25 total damage) in half decent places.
Episode 1: Went to Mack massage behind Aclana Lodge, about 6 ladies at reception. I chose the one who looked the hottest, she was also the youngest looking (about 20 or so). Nice playful personality, good English, and gave a very comprehensive massage that was a perfect blend of sensual and therapeutic. She seemed very uninhibited, wore a skimpy top and underwear only, and sat on my back as she touched me liberally in the right places, the way it was meant to be. For massage experience, I put her near the top of the pile. Massage lasted the full h (about 50 min). The FS part became an unexpected nightmare. First, her 'negotiating skill' was annoyingly scripted, she was obviously new to this stuff and was following her training to the letter. Then came the rules, rules, rules: bra stays on, no touching, only mish, etc. (Amsterdam RLD anyone)? On the plus side, it wasn't a total loss; she was one of the tightest I ever had, she also loosened up considerably and got wet, and even 'participated' quite some. She volunteered at the end that she 'really liked' it, but did not 'love' it, whatever that means. Ironically, I would probably repeat, if just for the near excellent massage.
Episode 2: Went to Take massage at night (same area a Mack), choice of ladies was slightly underwhelming, but I was approached by a young lady (early 20's) with a very feminine body (round booty, slightly oversize boobs), and attractive face (the kind that doesn't look like a gold digger, pretty but not out of your league pretty). The sweetest personality known to mankind, perfect English, knows the right stuff to say to a man. I honestly felt like taking her home to mama. Massage was very good and unrushed (at least 45 min), she had strong hands and was all therapeutic, remained fully clothed, and appeared to even intentionally avoid touching the right places. So I was surprised when she asked if I wanted extras at the end. I was equally surprised when she did not mention donation, just got on with it. She was more open and participatory than any Ethiopian lady I have known (but remember the bar is pretty low in Ethiopia). At the end she cleaned me up and told me to take a nap if I wanted. She came back and gave me piece of paper with her name and # - I was in love!
Then came the nightmare: I usually carry the exact change I am willing to part with when visiting these places, so I had 600. After I got dressed, I asked her if the usual 600 was ok, and she literally threw a fit. A 180 switch in personality, she claimed that was way too little. I didn't ask how much was not 'too little', because I didn't have it. I didn't feel like reminding her this was the going rate, and that she was not my first, I just wanted out before Buffy walked through the door. Looking back, it was a terrible rookie mistake on my part not to insist on setting the price beforehand. The sweet personality lulled me like a sucker.
Episode 3: Went back to Mack massage at night, I was approached by a young lady who was not the best looking by a long shot, but had those eyes that suggested something wild. I quickly realized what a terrible mistake this was. A ridiculous, rushed, disinterested, random body slap. Done in exactly 8 min, a record by any standards. I tried to complain, but she spoke almost no English, and just sat there smiling awkwardly. But she obviously knew how to ask about extras. My instinct was to cut my losses, but then I thought 200 for 8 min of nonsense was too much of a ripoff, so I opted for FS in the hope of somewhat compensating.
Things took a surprisingly positive turn. I quickly realized she really really likes the FS, and the massage is a mere inconvenience to her. She got into it 100%, moaning, scratching, pulsating and all, doing her part to the full. Even when I was done, she wouldn't let go, and kept nudging and prodding till I got a second hard on, not easy for me. The most passionate experience in Ethiopia thus far.

First a bit about me: 65 y / o. Been to more than 90 countries. I don't care about tourist shit.
Caravan Hotel.
Perfect location. It's about 2-3 blocks off the main drag (Mickey Spillman). Very dark no lighting at all. But I had zero issues. There are several wgs on the unpaved dark streets more about that later.
Room was okay. You'll want the street side there's construction on a building about 10 ft from your window on the back side. The banging in the morning was horrible. Moved to room 403 which was great (other side, a bit smaller, corner room).
Wi-fi sucks. They give you a passcode in about #6 font. It will regularly kick you off and you'll have to re-log in. Also they expire in about 3 days or whenever they feel like it regardless of what the paper says. Also you need one passcode for each device or it'll kick you off. Just ask for 3-4 passcodes no big deal.
They're very cheap with their towels & toilet paper so you'll have to get aggressive (I was having allergy issues for a few days).
Girl must have an ID. I brought one back from Club Melo. I had second thoughts because she was shit-faced & I've never had a good time with a drunk woman. She didn't have an ID so I just gave her taxi money (100 ETB) and said goodbye, sorry but those are the hotel rules. Worked out well for me. Next time I just signed my name & room number on a blank piece of paper & said I'the be responsible and there was no problem.
Overall I would recommend.

Just down the street, same side. Get there about 9 pm to avoid the crowd. By 10 it starts to get busy. By 1 or 2 it's SRO on some nights. Great waitresses (not sure if you can bar fine them or not but there were several well worth it.
No problem smoking my cigar inside. Shishas / Hookahs available. Everything very reasonably priced by western standards. Last night I had one water & 3 beers for about $7 US. I tipped too much but everybody was happy.
Tipping.
Seems to be like Thailand if you leave the tip in the bill folder apparently the girl doesn't get it. Hand it directly to her.
Bars on the opposite side.
You'll see a butt-load of string LED lights. Good place if you want a drink and want to fondle a girl (s). Took one girl out from there and had an ok time. As other mongers have said most do not like oral given or received. That's why I settled with the street girls cheaper, S / T and just ask up front. They'll also lady-drink you to death in those little bars.
The bar will also want a ridiculous amount to take her. Just say no & offer what you think is reasonable depending on how you feel. I would not take one out of those bars again though the one I had had a killer body.
Shebeta Lounge.
Just down Mickey Leland from Club H2 O. Loved this place more relaxing & good service. Again, Shishas available and no problem with cigars. We typically got there about 10 and by 11-11:30 there were a lot of single gals entering. Went several nights & enjoyed the place. Not as loud (though still loud by my old-man standards) as some of the other clubs.

Could not find. Appears to be gone while they build a new building.
Club Havana.
Just down from the hotel. Looks like a strip joint but we found it overpriced and useless. But there is an excellent pizza place next door.
Edna Mall.
Beware of scammers and pick-pockets. Knocked the cigarettes & gum out of one kid's hands as he was trying to slide his fingers into my pockets from under the box of goodies he was trying to sell.
There's also a scam in the neighborhood touts will try to get you to go see a bunch of "university girls" dancing. Tried to talk my wingman out of it he went the 2nd time & I had to extract him. I was kinda rude but we got out for very little damage.
If you go to the movie just buy VIP tickets much better and still cheap about $4 US.
Overall.
Yes the 7000-8000 ft elevation can be felt unless you're young & in great shape. Prices are good. Don't go to the local market unless you have nothing that can be stolen. Overall maybe worth a visit but there are better places.
Oh and do not count on cell service or data. Maybe if you buy a local sim card but I seldom do that I just use my US-based iPhone with International Roaming. Never got data once, often had no service. So Google Maps will NOT help you on the street. Screen capture your maps in the hotel room before you go out. International messaging usually didn't work until I got back to the wi-fi in the room. Could send and receive calls though no problem.
Be upfront about what you expect before you commit. Be explicit.
Off to Pattaya where I know I'll have a good time & much less hassle-factor. BTW the government blocks access on the internet to porno sites so print any info you need from ISG or because you won't be able to access it from within the country unless you use a vpn or proxie server. And with the slow internet that will be a pain.

First a bit about me....Great report Dan, as an Addis regular I totally recognize those streets. Even the trick with the cigarette boys. They come up to you, bump you, with the tray, pointing at the products with one hand and the other hand goes into your pocket.
I picked the little * up and threw him out the bar on the spot.
Its changed the last few years, less wild west more rebuild and construction work and the hoes are getting harder and harder core.
But my tip for Mickey Leyland street is find the H20 and there's a road on the opposite side running 90 degrees that's a great resource, more freelance easy going hoes than the hardcore bar putas on ML street. Fresher WG's, but still quite pushy. In fact past the pinks massage place and through to Djibouti Street is good. In fact on the corner where Djioubti Street meets the side road I picked up a great 20 year old big titties, just had a kid, and still a bit milky, don't pay more than 400-500 birr, and that's overpaying by local standards. Reject the first stinky room they go too. Insist on a better room for about $2 extra its worth it.
There are two levels of WG emerging. Firstly the $100+ tourist girls in a room, E. G. At the opposite edna mall. These are way overpriced and exist purely for tourists.
The streetwalkers are much cheaper but you have to deal with all the street crap that comes along, pimps, haggling, dirty rooms, dark streets, muddy streets if its raining.
Its still a "trip" in every sense of the word.
I loved so much ALMAZ Pension 2 years ago in Olympia, but I was told its closed now? I was always fully booked? 350 Birr. Perfect place.

Find it once you're there and save money and probably the local DL requirement. Of the 10 emails I sent, only three bothered to reply, two were positive. In case anyone's interested, Blue Sky Tour has a motorcycle, Pulsar ns 200,2015 model. Cash payment, deposit US $ 300. FKLM Ethiopia Tours has a Toyota Corolla (or similar). US $56 per day. Requirements: Locally exchanged driving license, US $140 deposit. $13.00 if a driver is needed.

Hi, I'm Italian guy, I had a couple of business trips to Addis in the past years (2017 January last time) I have been at different hotel including 5 star, please avoid Hilton which has an awsome park and pool but for the rest its not Worth the money, consider that decent / good hotels in Addis center are available at euro 70/80 aproxl. USD aproxl. May rise if there are very importnat events, last time I stay at ELIANA HOTEL at USD 70. - incl. ABF and I can only suggest it.
Addis is very safe city, I mean that there is nearly no police around, alst trip I see some, the trip before I see during 7 days 1 pattrol! By the way Hotels are guestfriendly (Eliana incl.) Eliana is a little bit outside the bole area which is the main fun area. But very centrally located, may consider to try it. If you like you stay, book room on the back side so that you avoid the traffic noise (on the back side totally calm!! Enjoy!!
If you hire somebody to assit you (po. E. During exibition or so, consider daily rate of USD 50. - from morning to evening, (male of female) they will generally do your best to help you wherevever they can. Visit from last year; don't remember the cost but its always 200 (same everywhere) for massage plus extras. What I realised is if the therapists come in with tissues in hand you are pretty sure with extras.

Plenty of other reasonable hotels nearby or guest houses. Close to Bole Road for decent restaurants or more Western bars and clubs.
H2O was a let down for me but as always. YMMV.
