The Rock Garden Cafe is basically a ho*ker bar, and it gets loud at night. The Cafe is on the eastern wing of the hotel, so ask for a room on the western wing!

Sorry, the Speke Hotel is adjacent to the Rock Garden Cafe. The Rock Garden Cafe is basically a ho*ker bar, and it gets loud at night. I never picked up a girl in the bar, but it was comforting to know that if I were ever in a rush, there was P4 P at my hotel. The Cafe is on the eastern wing of the hotel, so ask for a room on the western wing!

This hotel is a 3 star hotel. It is not fancy, but it was everything I wanted for my 5 days in Kampala.I stayed one night at Speke before moving to a cleaner and cheaper hotel nearby. My room had cockroaches, no hot water and a faulty door lock. Overrated hotel in my opinion.

Its simple below 50 usd or so you will get basic hotel with no WiFi in room, one towel etc and and shit mattress and no fan. But its not hot as Kampala is 1.5 km height.

But since is 10 usd per night you can meet many African girls that stay there for work. Buying clothes from market, military girls etc.

Midnight, order via "safe boda" app a ride to capital bar for 2,500 bit more then half a dollar. The driver put me in Capital Bar entrance of Ggaba Road and the security guy ask 5 k admission. Good post and good information, positive and useful, the way things should be. I was also in Uganda and Kenya this past winter from November until April. I spent nearly two months in Mtwapa, mid January through mid March. And yes, hot as Hades all day and all night for me as well! I was told by several people that the weather from June through to September is a little less intense and that I may find those months a little easier to exist in?

Of course, everyone tolerates heat and humidity differently. One person is OK, and the person next to them is under the table dying. So really asking others for opinions on how 'we' might find the weather is of limited value I'm afraid.

Fortunately many weather sites now a days include a lot of detailed annual information which can be useful in trying to decide if seasonal variations will be significant? One of my usual stomping grounds is the North coast of the Dominican Republic. For me the climate from early November through to the end of March is pretty ideal, so I use this a base line when comparing other locations.

I'll try and include a few links for examples. You can plug in any locations you wish and see if the results are useful to you.

Like you, I am considering re-visiting the region from say, mid to late June through early September to see if things are more bearable? However what I am seeing is that while temperatures do moderate a few degree's, it's not really looking significantly cooler.

Again, it largely boils down to one's personal ability to tolerate heat and humidity. I agree, Uganda was better for me temperature wise, but there were things I enjoyed about Mtwapa. And I would also like to visit Zanzibar and Nosy Be.

I finally kept the promise I had made to myself and to fellow monger Neddy to add Uganda to my monger's track record.

The electronic visa should cost no more than 50 dollars. Beware of the many ".org" websites selling Ugandan visas for more than double that amount.

There's an MTN shop next to the luggage carousel at Entebbe. If you're lucky to get there before other customers you have time to get a 4 G package while waiting for your luggage. There are forex bureaus giving the usual lousy airport rate (1 euro = 4000 ugx instead of at least 1 euro = 4150 ugx in town). Taxi to Speke Hotel asked for 100 k ugx, settled for 90 k.

Speke Hotel is ok by African standards. You get 2 free bottles of water per day, breakfast is okayish and served on a nice terrace shielded from the bustle of the city by some greenery. Room had a good safe. They have some run-down rooms where the in-room safe is not functional and with 2 small beds instead of a big one, so don't hesitate to complain at once if they put you in a room that doesn't match the one you booked. Strict girls' ID control at front desk. Hotel has a nostalgic 19th century flair about it. Standard Chartered guarded ATMs are a five minutes' walk away. For the maximum amount of 2 million ugx you get hit with a 20 k ugx "access fee" (1%).

Being a Tinder Gold member I could swipe for Kampala ahead of my trip. Plenty of interesting hits. Girls' pics make you want to travel to Uganda for sure. Many were in no hurry to contact me on Whatsapp though, and when they did they didn't have much to say. As soon as I mentioned "play for play"one Tinder girl with a smoking hot body went "I'm not a prostitute who do you think you are go elsewhere if you want a prostitute la-di-da". Blocked.

I ended up traveling with only 3 Tinder finalists on my whatsapp, assuming - wrongly as it would turned out - that I would get tons of super hook-ups as soon as I set foot on Ugandan soil (I didn't bring along smartphone with the Tinder app).

When messaged to come over to my hotel, Tinder finalists number 3 insisted on my sending her half the money upfront through MNT money. I replied I was no fool and blocked her. Tinder finalist number 2 told me she was broke with no money for transport and needed me to come and fetch her. "Where are you?" "I'm in Jinja", she said. Jinja lies up to 3 hours' drive away from Kampala depending on traffic. Blocked.

Tinder finalist number 1 was a 178 cm skinny Muslim girl who wished happy Ramadan to her muslim brothers and sisters in her Whatsapp status. She had been in Dubai twice, not, as she insisted, to "work", just to "travel with a boyfriend". Yeah, yeah. She moved to some tune on her smartphone. Wow. That girl would get a million likes on Youtube hours after uploading her buttshaking if she wanted to upload it. She priced herself at 100 dollars. That was a Dubaish price but I was not going to pass up on such a booty now I had her in my room. Alas she sorely disappointed in bed. She interrupted my DATY on some pretense and refused a rim-job a wanted to give her on another pretense.

The street

There were a handful of SWs outside Speke Hotel / Rock Garden, all of them big women with too much uncontrolled fat. Some of them might be ok if I wanted a really big ass to sit on my face. However, their overall looks ratings were poor. A few SWs were also to be found in Kabalagala near the clubs. A fair rule of thumb is that if girls wait in the street outside clubs they will have looks below the girls you find in said clubs.

The streets are probably more interesting for finding girls who are just normal girls with nothing other to do than hang around at night in the hope of a hook-up. I met such a girl after dark downtown from Speke Hotel. She literally latched on to me until I gave her my Whatsapp. On the next day she invited me to a volley-ball event (Uganda against Kenya). I passed but we eventually met at Speke restaurant and I think she genuinely played in the country's national team. During the meal she asked me if I knew the meaning of "Sugar-baby". I then taught her about "P4 P" and assumed everything was going according to plan, but at front desk on the way up to the room she said she carried no ID. Too bad I said, maybe next time. So she went. I'm now sure she was just pretending to have no ID because she messaged me shortly after asking "what is it exactly you want from me". "Just some fun" I replied. She countered with "define fun". Perhaps before blocking her I should have messaged "plenty of fish in the sea" or "time-wasters be blocked".

Clubs & Discos

With the exception of Capital Pub I saw no fish-tank places with 20-25 working girls and hardly any normal customers except male punters like there used to be in the heydays in some African countries. However my impression was that in any place "working" girls were easy to spot at night. They showed more flesh and tended to sit or stand away from male customers. As a rule if a girl didn't look like she was available for P4 P it meant she wasn't. Here are my jotting regarding some well-known night-spots during my stay:

Rock Garden on Friday 11 pm: dead.

Rock Garden on Sunday shortly after midnight: dead.

Rock Garden on Tuesday: "comedy show" attracting local crowds. Hardly any girls.

Bubbles on Tuesday 1 am: totally deserted, a single car parked in front of the club, doorman suggesting I try Skyline instead.

Capital Pub, same Tuesday as above around midnight: fairly busy, 15 or so girls, over 25 girls at 1:30 am. Dimly-lit place, girls markedly below Bubbles' in terms of looks and height. Girls not up to my requirements. I'd compare the quality here to the black girls who worked in Bangkok or Pattaya before the Thai crack-down on blacks.

Bubbles on Saturday at midnight: place swinging, plenty of stunners.

Rock Garden on Thursday at midnight: about 8 girls, no stunner, band had been playing African music for 2 hours, band was now packing up and people were leaving (I love African music, why didn't they properly advertise such music events?)

Cayenne on Friday at midnight: dead. Cayenne was supposed to be a favourite with college students. Do students have classes on Saturday? A special event was advertised for Sunday. Do students not have class on Monday? Not much of a student hang-out if you ask me.

Wave on Friday at quarter past midnight, many people but all locals, M / F ratio = 4. No visible working girls.

Bubbles on Friday 1 am: quite a few girls, some stunners (not as many as Saturday night though).

Mastercard during my travels in Uganda was accepted by Barclays. Others banks had problems bu maybe the situation should have been improved.

Anyway I strongly suggest to have at least 1 visa card to be added to others that are MasterCard.

An International Visa Credit Card works any place any time. Mastercard and Bankcards might work or might not. I use ATM at entebee airport, acacia mall at kampala, entebee city. As I remember barclays ATM add some extra charges to pull money out so better avoid this ATM. Best to use stanbic bank ATM it was allowed to take me 800000 shillings per one go without charge.

Franko.I have met a few who were that way inclined threatening you for more money or police if you don't do as they say. That is a reason not to take them back to where you stay as if it's a hotel they'll create a scene and as for the cops they're as corrupt as you'll get. It's a case of who you know not what you know and they'll always be on the side of the Ugandan, unless you can speak and understand Swahili. Watch out for drink spiking and then them doing the dirty, don't leave your drink unattended take it with you where you go and either finish it or abandon it if you've been away dancing or chatting them up. Another downside of the apartments is they're not connected to Speke's emergency power generator. I had a 2-hour power cut on one day and another the next day that lasted 8 hours! The good-tempered Indian little chap who supervised the apartments kindly brought me a couple of candles at nightfall. I'm grateful to such incidents for making me aware of one of the downsides of living in Africa.

Staying at an Entebbe guesthouse-type lodging (of which there are numerous) the day before a very early Sunday morning departure, in the late afternoon a smell of smoke and loud music was wafting in. I went out and around to the property next door where there was a barbecue pit, food, bar, people and girls drinking beer. A party had started where I was welcomed to join and by nightfall, I had a friend for the night. Earlier in the day visiting the beach area, it was a family and kids kind of place. There are some nice areas in Kampala you could stay in and still be an Uber ride away from action. Getting to Kampala is also time consuming because of the traffic as you get closer to Kampala. If your heart is set on Entebbe, stay for a 2 days to see normal life in Uganda and then go to Kampala and stay in a nice hotel.

My Entebbe experience is two years old but should still be relevant. When previous posters say that Entebbe is "dead" - don't believe them. Any afternoon just go to 4 Turkeys, a bar / restaurant on the main drag. There will be girls, and by evening time there will be many of them, competing hard for you attention. Both, outside at the big tables and indoors. If that is not enough, there are two clubs across the street, I forgot their names, but neon-lit and hard to miss. Almost next-door to each other. In my experience if a woman passes by in Uganda without returning your gaze, she's not interested. Stopping girls under false pretences will get you nowhere. The thing to do is to let your eyes wander and see what happens. If you catch a girl's eyes and she wants to hook-up she will show it. She will gaze at you unashamedly until you come up to her. Kampala, from what I've read, is more for "boots on the ground" type work. Jo'Burg is far more varied. Online sites work very well and have great talent. I think Jo'Burg is particularly good for semi-pros and more long term GFE type engagements.

I still Jo'Burg is one of the best places on the continent. It just has it's own nuance. You can't take the same approach to Jo'Burg as you would a Nairobi, Daar or Kampala (from what I've read).

In my experience if a woman passes by in Uganda without returning your gaze, she's not interested. Stopping girls under false pretences will get you nowhere. The thing to do is to let your eyes wander and see what happens. If you catch a girl's eyes and she wants to hook-up she will show it. She will gaze at you unashamedly until you come up to her. Not Bad. After a week I found a nice 1 BR Apartment secure. For 85 euros a month. With all amenities 2 km away from international malls discos and drinking dens. Dead quiet. (hit the ignore button!) who complains about noise from the airport. This is not Heathrow. Occasionally at night you hear the roar of a starting jet in far distance. That's it. Entebbe was and is a small airport with probably a dozen international flights a DAY. And that will never change. Nairobi and Entebbe are sleeping while Kigali builds a huge new Airport financed by Quatar. The upcoming regional carrier Rwandair operates also a Hub in West Africa already. Now the resurrected Ugandan Airlines offers direct regional flight connections to Dar es Salaam, Mombasa and Nairobi. Even Juba and Mogadishu.

After a week in Kampala here are some random thoughts:

- Kampala is а pretty boring place for a daytime activities. Basically you have 2 options. To visit some of the malls to drink or eat something, or to visit Entebbe and the bars around lake Victoria. Overall after day 3 you have seen everything. For my taste Entebbe is much better option then Kampala.

- Uganda girls are a little bit ugly for my taste compared to girls from Kenya (last week I was in Nairobi). But in Kenya I met a model, stunning flight attendant and a really sexy office girl, all of them aged between 21 and 24 years old. so I get a little spoiled. During my stay in Uganda I met a girl from Rwanda and spend most of the time with her. And the local people that I met, all of them found Rwanda girls quite attractive compared to the local girls. I did try two Ugandan girls. One just out of curiosity and another that wanted to try anal sex. I fulfilled the lady's wish and it was quite memorable experience but overall I don't find the Uganda women attractive at all. Of course they are so many girls around, so you can always find some gems.

- I visit only one of the usual places. The Bubbles bar. It was Friday and it was full with girls in all sizes and shapes. Some of them were quite desperate to find clients. Didn't ask about the price because I was with company for the night, just used the place to have few drinks before going back to the airbnb for the second round. But it seems a good place if you want to drink something and to check the local talent.

Overall I had a very good time here in Kampala but I have the feeling that I got lucky and will not recommend it for a unexperienced African visitor as me. In my opinion Kenya is much better place for our kind of hobby in terms of both quality and quantity.
