If you stay in kampala it think it's a good first spot as a major landmark (pretty close to lots of bars AND ladies in general like to hangout there and some clearly looking to make eye contact / approachable. There is a MTN store on the second floor (bypass the first floor stand). Took 24 hrs to activate so something to keep in mind.

I think costs 80-120 k to kampala? Uber does work from the aiport if I recall correctly.

Getting around -.

Uber / Safe boda works wonderful in Kampala. NON work in Jinja (which prices then sky rocket as you have to actually chat an barter without much reference).

- Uber cars / or flagging a boda down becomes the only real way say post 2 am. Some turn off their apps as they can ask a higher price.

If your place isn't a well known hotel learn Gas stations and direct from there. Every one knows the petrol station names and locations. So example, "petro city X region".

Clubs.

There is a club on top of acacia (all the way to the rooftop where the parking lot it- it looked really nice forgot the name).

Sky lounge, ceilo are across the street.

And a lot of other clubs are a few minutes walk down (the bubbles, h20, wave, bubbles, which you can easily hit all in on bar hop go).

Ladies shorter but much curvier than say Kenyan women on average.

Bubbles is #1 for tourists. It's the only place I went to that had as much foreigners (If not more) than ladies. Karookee, bar, pools, food. Depending on night live band. Clearly all the girls there are working but were not aggressive and did not bother you if you shoot head in a nice way no. I have a feeling staff has let them know not to push anything (my guess).

They are all dressed well. . I have a feeling it's the place were they'll ask for high dollar amounts. But you can go chill there meet other visitors and (men, women etc).

Clubs I got the general impression Ugandan locals went for a good time and show off a bit (dressed pretty nice) -- Guvnor, Laporonis, and Ciello (maybe mixing up with sky lounge next to it). Don't go in shorts. Groups with their friends having a good time, laughing, smoking hookah kinda feel. No grossly obvious ladies just standing there waiting for someone to call them over or rubbing on you. Don't get me wrong, they are there looking for business, dressed and smell great but you may approach just an every day girl with her girlfriend too who may like your attention but not going anywhere with you LOL. It wasn't clearly obvious. But man oh man there were some fine women.

 Not a bad place to come with friends and just enjoy.

Capital pub # can rely on this place on weekdays esp when the other bars are dead. This place starts to active around 11 p / midnight.

If I had to pick one area (kabalgala) you someone would run and snatch your cellphone out of your hand. It would be this placed LOL. Dress regular every day clothing, do not come like you would dress in say Guvnor.

Feels like the place were the girls that are more less off / poor / don't have something nice to wear are. Wide range of quality but overall 5's -7's. I did on 2 occasions see a solid 8/9's already with guys.

Place is multi level so can sorta move around. Go over the ledge and just watch the dance floor or join.

The door guys may ask for change for a beer. You decide how you want to handle this. I did and saw it as a small price to pay if something happened. This did help me out once in Kenya.

If you decide you want to spend time here. Spend some time looking into Acacia hotel it's CLOSe and if you rent online it's like 15 $?? Go online book it, check in and have fun in capital. In person price was much higher. They also have a Fairly clean. Short walk couple minutes. But. I don't recommend walking around. Especially there is a narrow alley way leading up to it with NO lights. Bad idea. You're a target. Just take a boda that's 2 minutes. Also annoying gate is locked but someone will open. Very girl friendly (they even have a poster for 'escort services' in there).

Dueces there was a comment that deuces is where to go after capital starts to die down around 4-5 am. It's close if you look at the maps but no direct (needs to boda for a u turn 2 min ride).

Went there each time after capital pub. Overall it is true people rolled in around 5 am /6 am no joke. But a good amount were from capital pub. Some new.

So yea if you feel like clubbing at 7 am. Well you have a place.

Need a place that isn't blasting music with cute ladies that won't bother you until you are ready with a nod. Then rock garden cafe.

Rock garden oddly had a hard time finding this place but not far from center (I refer to acacia as center).

One night had a live band, otherwise, it's a nice bar with pool tables. Very laid back with 7/8's easily (be patient they roll in). You can have a decent meal here. Sit at the open space bar. The ladies may sit around you but won't seem to bother you if you shake head no. Nod your head and they'll come over.

Quickie about Jinja.

 Caf 49 (69?) and The bourbon seemed to be the were good spots.

Keep in mind because the transport apps don't work here. You'll be a the mercy of the drivers who refuse unless you accept the high fees.

I made a mistake and stayed at Cafe49 too long (it more because it was my first night on arrival and decided to go out regardless of how late it was). The trip that cost me ?2 k (already too high) by motorcycle to get there, they demanded 10 k. Only 2 bodas were there (I stayed really late). Both refused to budge and acted outraged when I said 2 k, not even 5 k. Sigh pick your battles you need to get home. If a weekend. Lots of ladies.

Neddy.I saw those clips on the news here of police forcing home vendors around downtown I think. Up to now, I've met 6 girls. One of them was a Malagasy woman from the flight who has been working here for 10 years. She told me her boss told her she doesn't have to work for next 14 days at least and that was a week ago. Another girl I met closed down her salon. The one girl I approached in Accacia Mall when she was with her friend seems to have lost interest in meeting. The rest still seem keen on meeting again. I came straight from Madagascar and had a few days to work Tinder and cold approach before the lockdown kicked-in. Finally it's being relaxed somewhat so perhaps I can start meeting more people. I'll summarize my living situation and the few encounters I had.

1. Living Cost: It's possible to stay here without spending much money. I stayed at a very nice place a quick walk to Acacia Mall which included a nice breakfast and coffee for $20 a night. The in-house restaurant had nice food and a big drinks selection too so my total daily cost would run around $30-$40 depending on what I consumed. Later I moved to another place also close to Acacia Mall but on a hill. I am still staying here now. The private room is $14 with a shared bathroom and includes breakfast and coffee. I can get laundry done for $2 a load and the general atmosphere and service is great. First place would charge extra if I brought a guest and due to COVID-19, discouraged it. The place I am at now is very guest friendly. All-in-all, it works out to $600 - 900 per month depending on how much I consume or order from outside.

2. Experiences trying to meet girls.

A. Cold approached 2 girls sitting together at KFC in Acacia Mall. I was very interested in one of them. Chatted for a few minutes and got the what's app numbers. Later the one I liked greeted me online and in the coming days, we would chat a bit. But her responses were short, her customer service job seemed to keep her busy or stressed or something, and within a few days, she stopped responding to me.

Be. Loaded up Tinder the next day and started swiping. Of the ones I swiped right on (usually about 1 out of 10), I was getting a match for every 10 of those. E. Went to a drugstore with one of the guys working in the place I stay. I think she figured out I liked her even though I never even removed my mask. My friend went back a few days and the girl for her number because I was interested. But she expressed some concern that I was an addict since I had tried to buy oxycontin for my gall bladder issues. I guess she wasn't buying it LOL. Anyway, she told him to just leave my number and she would contact me on what's app. Of course I never heard from her. I went back there once to get malaria tablets but she only works 1 or 2 days a week so I missed her.

F. In general, I find a lot of the profiles in Uganda are against hook-ups, sending nudes, etc. And a lot claim they are looking for real connections and maybe serious relationships. In dealing with the people here, I've found there is a generally serious and introverted quality prevalent with a lot of the girls and guys. It's really different to what I was expecting after my experiences in Accra, Ghana a couple years ago and Kenya over a decade ago. All the ones I met with exception of Rwanda girl seemed educated and reasonably intelligent which I appreciated. I am more comfortable around these types of girls.

As for money, I would treat them to a meal, maybe a drink or two, and when they left, would give around 50 K. Girl 5 stayed overnight because she lives far away so I gave her more. But generally, I prefer to sleep alone until I know a girl very well.

I may see some one or two of them again now that lockdown is relaxing and have a few new ones in pipeline.

E. Lusaka girl: From her curvy body and pretty face in photos and height (5'8" this one is very interesting for me. She may be 7-8 ish but will need to see her in person. I talk to her everyday on what's app voice (did video a couple times too), she sounds very smart and educated and speaks English very well. She seems down-to-earth, more or less a homebody, strong principles, and not suffering money problems. If Zambia would open up to tourism again and I could get a flight out of here, I would go to see her right away and spend an extensive amount of time there if we get along well after meeting.

3. Kampala in general: The weather has been fantastic and you can get by ok without aircon. We've had power most of time. Infrastructure, malls, and availability of stuff are all pretty good, especially for someone like me who previously spent a few weeks in Madagascar. English level in general is fine though I'm still getting used to the accent. But the vibe and people seem a bit overly serious and reserved. It seems overly policed and I don't particularly like the vibe you get from them and the armed guards. Restaurants and food choices are great. Cost of living is low. As for bars and clubs, they remain mostly closed so I don't have any comments on that. General appearance of people is ok but I'm pretty sure you see more stunners in Nairobi than here if you have taste similar to mine. Also, majority of people here have darker skin tone than you might see with many of people in Kenya.

Pokeris has met me as well as a few other ISG people so they know. English is still my native language and I know it better than Mandarin Chinese.

How many months do they make you pay in advance (deposit)? If you leave Uganda for 3 months, then come back, do you go on paying rent during the months you're not in the country? These are variables I can usually optimise in Thailand, dunno about Uganda.

If Uganda reopens to international travel in October and Thailand doesn't, I might fly to Uganda for a few months.

About rent, the first place worked out to be US $600 per month ($20 per day) including breakfast with private room and private bathroom in very nice estate. Second place is $400 per month ($14 per day) including breakfast with private room and shared bathroom in beautiful hillside estate. You can get huge all-in suites on second floor here with great view for US $24 a night and there's complete privacy up there. Both are 5-10 min walk to Acacia Mall. Second place has some cool guys working ehre who can hook you up with whatever and encourage you to bring girls if that's your thing. It's fun to meet other travelers here along with visiting Ugandans.

The larger numbers I have was total cost per month, not just rent. So anyone who says Kampala is expensive is not looking hard enough. I've found better value for money here than anywhere else I've been in Africa including Madagascar. For comparison sake, I generally spend more along the lines of US$2,000 - 3,000 all in when traveling so under $1,000 is a bargain. If you wan't your own private apartment, those can be had too, especially on Airbnb but you need to negotiate rates effectively for a long-term stay. COVID-19 will probably keep landlords desperate for another 6-12 months at least, even after the tourism starts to recover.

For various reasons, I think girls are probably more challenging now than in earliest days of ISG exploring in Africa. But still, all should be doable if you swipe enough and approach enough. Perhaps girls have learned the game and are not so up for being vacation hos. Internet has educated people all over the world and some Ugandans seem pretty smart. Quality shouldn't be so easy and if it's just cold p4 p you want, I'm sure it abounds in the clubs but hard core hos are hard core hos. I much prefer longer term GFE and that will probably take work here. I'll keep working and trying and report when I learn new things.

If you want cheap easy experiences, they are easy to arrange here of course just like in much of Africa. If you want more educated girls with no children, perhaps a subset of them will like you depending on how you act, look, etc. That's my hypothesis so far anyway. Let's see how things play out. The airport remains closed and lockdown may continue as it is beneficial to incumbent who faces election early next year.

I am involved in the operations of a non-profit condo corporation and we don't pay anyone less than around 16 K pre month plus there are various benefits we add. I think I might know what Jones Lover means with his posts praising Kampala.

Based on what I saw from Tinder profiles and the few girls I met up with in Kampala and Entebbe, many there are playing the long game. They are expressing interest in serious dating and discouraging or refusing hook-ups. Very few profiles I saw ask for hook-up whereas when I was in Accra, Ghana, it seemed like either half had a description which stated "hook-ups only". Also, many of the girl behave sweetly and like to text to see how you are doing, etc. So he may be finding that GFE and / or longer term dating is easier to find in Kampala than in other African cities outside Uganda that he's visited.

Now I will wrap up my initial impressions of Kampala and Uganda and share some experiences.

1. Customer service at hotels and restaurants has been great to excellent. Food is much better than what I generally find in Philippines too. Service staff understand the basics and have good hospitality common sense. On the other hand, this small town of Bukoba Tanzania seems like a step back to the Philippines. The hotels and restaurants are more disorganized and you have to spend considerable time explaining to service staff what they should already know. My aircon room did not have a working aircon yesterday so I had to change. English level is generally pretty low. And the staff just seem a little bit more lacking in sense. But this is just a small town. Let's see what Dar is like and after that, I'll reassess.

2. Kampala and Uganda may not be as safe as people think, both for those who live there and those who visit.

A. It's not uncommon to have your phone or bags snatched. It happened to a few people I know there.

Be. The police, guards, and other authorities are way to gung-ho, kinda like USA police. I had a couple of awful experiences. On first occasion, I went out jogging around my neighborhood as I had been doing every 2-3 days before. When I was running down a hill, apparently a police officer called me over but I didn't hear him because I had my earphones in. Finally when I ran back up the hill, he stopped me and said I was being charged with attempted murder. There had been a new decree a day or two prior that said jogging was no longer allowed and violators of any COVID-19 related rules would be automatically charged with attempted murder which is not bailable. So I had this angry cop shouting at me about how the truck is coming to pick me up for jail in a few minutes. Mind you, I had seen a few other people jogging as well before I encountered this officer. Fortunately, an employee from my nearby hotel walked by, looked over, and was instructed by the officer to bring hotel manager over. They were supposed to have informed me of these decrees. A few minutes later she came and after a bit more time, I was finally released after having been there nearly an hour. That was a pretty traumatic experience as over 4,000 people were arrested and thrown in jail for the COVID stuff. A couple weeks ago, the president finally instructed police to release those who had not done anything serious.

More recently, I had an even scarier experience. I was heading up to Entebbe to spend the night and meet a girl. My Uber driver who I know somewhat personally is a well educated and smart guy in his 20's. But somehow, he made the mistake of entering the freeway when a presidential special forces convoy was on the road. The traffic enforcer was supposed to block us from entering the ramp but somehow missed us. And my driver kept driving in spite of the marked vehicles on the highway but no other cars. I was chilling in front seat and not paying a lot of attention to the road or what was going on outside. Finally, when we got near the Entebbe exit ramp, one of the SUVs pulled next to us and I saw the passenger say something to my driver. We then pulled over to the right and as soon as we stopped, the guy put the business end of his Israeli assault weapon right to my drivers head and made a motion that indicated he was ready to pull the trigger. My driver was begging for his life I was in the line of fire because from his angle, my head was right behind my driver's. But after about 10 seconds, he pulled back the gun and the vehicle just drove away. I suspect he saw me, a white tourist, and decided not to follow through with shooting my driver or taking him to their camp. Later in my hotel, the guy in charge explained that we must have crossed the so-called redline or something and my driver should have known to pull to the side the moment he saw the marked SUVs. Given that it's an election period and that we have COVID-19 restrictions, there seems to be a lot of paranoia and anger in the air.

3. Those with any power tend to act rude and like disturbing people.

When I was taking pictures around the mall, a guard there came up to me and asked who I was photographing. He was about to ask me a bunch of questions regarding my photos but fortunately, my date showed up and this gave me an excuse to leave immediately.

At immigration, staff outside constantly shout at people about social distancing, where to stand, how to wash hands, etc. They jump on every little mistake people going there to renew visas or do other business accidentally make.

Finally, in order to travel to border province and cross into Tanzania, we spent a couple days going to various ministries to get required stamps, etc. The first day we had 3 foreigners. Myself (white American), a Finnish girl, and a large sized Congolese Austrian professional player of American football. We also had a driver who helped us in communicating with officers at various offices and ministries. They were pretty rude to him but at least we made some progress. The second day, we went back to some of these offices to finish the process but suffered a lot of abuse and misleading instructions from the various persons in charge. The football player was so mad he wanted to punch one of them but on the other hand, was tempted to offer a bribe since that would probably work. The Finnish girl wanted to do it with no bribes but her straightforward nature and loud voice put them off. She ended up getting scolded for several minutes and called an idiot. The Congolese guy told me Africans in general get offended by women who behave like her. Anyway, we finally got what we needed after 2 days but had to suffer a lot of rudeness and abuse which sucks.

Generally, I found Ugandans to be friendly in personal relationships but when they are in position of authority, they lord it over people and love to bark out orders and commands. They also like asking too many questions.

Given all the above, how can anyone consider Uganda to be a friendly country? The authorities there act a lot like American police officers, maybe even worse. That really sucks.

The last girl I met before leaving was someone from Tinder who I went up to Entebbe to see. She was perhaps the best looking and sexiest of all the ones I met. However, at 27, she had a 10 year old child (single mum usually not my thing) and he played the slow game and would barely let me touch her in the room. Before 7 pm, she left for home but wanted to meet the next day. I decided just to go back early in the morning instead. But later she called and texted and was disappointed.
