Few girls were stunners but few were fuglies and although they're mostly small, there's enough variation in skin tone and bone structure to keep it interesting.This summarize the entire thread for newbies!
For hard tall bodies with a rounded ass you can fuck all night go to Mombasa or west-Africa. Pure sex but nothing to do beside. In Mada it's somehow like improved version of Thailand, good food, Fantastic beach, cheap (in small towns) but the girls has not the same DNA as their as their sisters from Mombasa. So if you just went out from prison go to Mombasa. If you like to experience and relax with occasional mongering you may try Mada. The similar to Thailand.
My last trip to Uganda was a failure because of lack of accommodation and the world's worst food. In Mada you can eat as a king walk on the beach and getting new "friends". If you establish some kind of mutual friendship on a regular basis with a girl, she will not reject 10,000 which is 5US$ in small towns. Cities? I have no idea.
Double click on my Mada folders I see cute girls, moving on to Mombasa folders I see sexy woman that needs to get fucked. Come back or not? For me, only if I combine it as part of a trip to Kenyan coast. Not a standalone destination.
It does feel different. There's an Africa-with-a-twist feel to the place and the people. Hello, I am new in this website and in Madagascar.
I am in Tana for less than a month then I plan to spend a month in Diego Suarez (Antsiranana)
I came in Mada alone, and I am looking for a travel companion or travel partner. It's safer and more fun.
I am native French. I am in my early 30s and I do speak English very well, so it might be interesting for a native English speaker, who does not speak French very well and might sometimes need some help in French.
I am not a professional monger. Mongering is more like a last option for me. I prefer hunting non-pro in clubs or practicing day gaming. I would say I am more into targeting non-pro, specially students or professional.
I am looking for someone with the same spirit, and stay close to my hotel or is willing to move to my hotel, which is centrally located and very affordable for both cities.

I have recently came in Madagascar, and I have initially planned to go to Diego Suarez spend sometime there, but from what I have read Tamatave can be really good. So I want some additional information to make a choice.
1- Which one do you prefer between these two cites? And why?
2- Which one does have the hottest girls?
3- How girls do look like for each city? I have read they are mixed in Diego and black in Tamatave but can you elaborate?
Feature, skin tone (light, brown, dark or very dark skin) and etc.
4- Which one is easier for hunting non-pros?
5- Which one are the girls more well spoken and / or literate? (I mean in French)

Or really bad. Depends on you. Last month was one week in Tamatave. Stayed at the Miramar. Right on the beach. And there is a fine beach here. Also, this was very close (can walk) to Pandora nightclub. Anything you could be looking for is in there. On the weekend. Unfortunately there were some Chinese things. Ugly toads show up when the place opens, sit there and then grab girls and go by midnight, before the party even starts. Their idea of fun evidently. Also, plenty of merchant marines, so later with a lot of alcohol the dance floor gets a bad vibe, then go into the other room, plenty of girls waiting to get picked up. Not a lot to do in this town, but it is a good place to rent a car and go around looking. For a little while.

I am flying into Nairobi and will spend some Months in Mombasa. I am looking for a cheap flight flight option to Mada. But direct flights are also costing 1000 € return. Also via SA expensive. Can anybody advice if there is maybe a cheap option maybe through Mayotte or Mauritius. I hope that the embargo will end soon and more flight options will become available.

Lets see if the truth ever will surface.I get the picture that it can be quite dangerous in Mada, especially at night. I am not afraid of danger since I purposely visited Haiti about a year after the earthquake (had a blast) and Kenya during that wave of grenade bombings on transport gathering areas and local restaurants. The current situation in Kenya has me re-evaluating time of my next trip there, and this incident surely has me evaluating time of my first trip to Mada.

If you have money, ja.I mainly only speak introductory and restaurant French (I can say hello and the like and order food) , and I have been successful in getting laid in some fiercely French speaking African countries like Gabon, DRC, Congo, and Togo. So I will bring my limited French speaking self and test the waters of Mada. Yes, Kenya and Ghana as well as Uganda will be annual visit spots for me, but I am adventurous and will forge into beautiful Mada and CV.

This organ trafficking story is total bulshit! Organs need very specific conditions to be conserved, which are probably not available in this country. And they surely cannot be kept in a freezer. And it is rarely the tongue or the genitals that are needed.
What this story shows is that, in this place, you can be accused of totally ridiculous charges, tortured and burnt! I find it frightening!

I'm Italian, and I live in Madagascar since 6 years now. I've never been, in any manner, been hurted by any Malagasy peoples, which are, very kindly. I've already worked at NosyBe island for over 6 months. It was quite different from any other regions of the island, because it's a very touristic destination but it was a nice place for me to live and work.
I was been in Tamatave, Mahajunga, and now I'm based at Antananarivo.

So whats do you do in Mada for so many years if I may?I'm a commercial representative of an Italian firm for Madagascar and the Indian ocean. My professional position allow me to visit Madagascar easily. I'm here since end of 2007, and I really like this country. I hope to stay here for many years!
As per my modest experience, I think that, if you guys want to spend good times in Madagascar, one of the better way is to choose a less touristic destination (I mean town like, Sambava, Antalaha, Mananajari, Tsiribinna,.) instead of very touristic destination as Nosy Be, Sainte Marie,.). In touristic destinations, people are more intersted by money, and good feeling with people (mainly girls) are a little bit altered.
But with less touristic destinations as I mentioned above, you are better served and girls are more convivial and careful. And it would sure more cheaper, with their bungalows, but sure with less night clubs and comfortable hotel!
But if you are more interested in hot ambiances and don't care for conviviality, touristic destinations are for you.

You also may face language barriers. A few Malagasy phrases do help. And you may face "clinging". Girls will not let you alone. You can not have in a small town every night a different girl. They are jealous and possessive very much. They knock at your door in the middle of the night just to check you out.

This period is, even without cyclones, rainy period! And believe me, rain on the east coast can force you to stay at the hotel during your stay! And if cyclone is there, you are in danger!
I suggest you to choose west ans south (Morondava, Toleara, Fort-Dauphin,.) which are more "sunny" even during rain period!
But Maroantsetra and Sambava, and all east regions are better from May to October I think!
I was in Majunga this weekend and despite the temperature (not less than 35°C) , it is a kind city and girls are very pretty!

WHERE IS THE BEEF?
I visited in mid-may to mid-July and need to post this while I still remember it. I've been to Kenya and Dar a few times but only considered Madagascar as a destination because of this site; I stayed within the tramlines of previous posts, so don't have anything ground-breaking to announce, but this may be helpful to anyone else thinking about going.
4 nights Tana. 5 nights Hellville / Ambataloaka. 15 nights Diego / Ramena. 3 nights Tamatave. 11 nights Tulear area. 15 nights elsewhere.
I started and finished in Tana. I didn't expect to like it and so I didn't. The cobbled streets around Hauteville are cute and it's worth a walk up to the Palace for the views, but it's plainly over-populated and you have to run a gauntlet of hawkers trying to sell maps / guidebooks / musical instruments / vanilla / spices. Definitely an edgy feel to it, but once you're off the street and inside there are some funky bars around (Manson, Kudeta, Mojo). It only occurred to me on my last night of the trip that everywhere else I'd just ambled along the same street and barely needed to use taxis. 2 nights twice were enough for me in Tana, not because it's small but because it was tiring, although I never made it to Le Caveau or Disco 16 which are close enough. Le Glacier is reliable day and night and I'm sure Indra can be good but when I visited it was largely full of drunk local guys (it was quite a shock to be in a club with less women than men). Stayed at Sunny City a few doors up from Hotel Sakamanga which was fine.
It was good to get to Hellville which has wide and empty streets. Stayed at Belle Vue which was really nice. Rooms at the back with a view even nicer. Bars like Nandipo, Le Manava & Porte Rouge were pleasant enough in the daytime but then I started to get sick and that was the end of my Nosy Be exploration. I made it up to Ambatoloaka and at 3pm was surprised at what a ghost town it was. Nothing was open, let alone full. There was music at night and Le Taxi Be seemed to be the centre but I can't pass on anything as I was bedridden for 2 days. I stayed at Chez Patrick which was definitely GF judging by my fellow guests' changing companions each morning at breakfast. There was a good cabana-style restaurant literally on the beach (Tantine?) that I visited for lunch. I'd called up a girl from Hellville just for the company but she started to get clingy (not pushy or demanding) and so once I was feeling better I just left Nosy Be which I regret now.
Upto Diego Suarez which I really liked. The port end of town is on a promontory and the locals don't live there much so it's laid-back and as a vazeha you can exist in a bubble. The French basically founded Diego so there's loads of elegantly mouldering Art Deco buildings and it is very atmospheric to wander around. If your favourite cities are eg New York or Dubai you won't like Diego; but then you probably won't like Madagascar. Action is pretty much confined to La Vahine which has music every night and is the only overt pick-up joint outside of the clubs. Fun to listen and watch but I didn't rate most of the girls. Also, given that most of the vaheza seem like retired postmen, (French, almost everyone is French) , girls seemed unnecessarily blinged-up. It's their country so they can wear what they like I guess, and I did pull one out of there my first night since she spoke ok english and filled me in on things but on my second day the first of 4 waitresses / receptionists separately volunteered what time they finished work / when their day off was and I was able to move out to Ramena and shuttle them over for a night and send them back. It was pretty blissful and of course there are waitresses in Ramena too. There's not much off the Rue Colbert and a real lack of other bars but you can sit in or outside the restaurants and watch the world go slowly by. It felt really safe too. I stayed in Hotel Ambassador which was a few doors up from La Boite Noire and fine but then moved into Hotel Karifa (?) which is yellow and just down from Place de la Musique and is perched right on the hillside with amazing views out over the bay. The LP guide mistakenly call it Villa La Baie de Diego Suarez. I spent 2 weeks in Diego but never on a weekend so can't comment on La Boite Noire and Nouvel Hotel club but the former was completely empty weeknights.
I did some touristy stuff for a while and then spent 3 nights in Tamatave which I didn't much like but again I barely needed to stray from Boulevard Joffre. My first night a waitress gave me her number but it didn't lead anywhere so on my last night I pulled a girl out of Queens who I'd earlier seen in La Terrasse which has some daytime action.
And on to Tulear. Once again, other than trips to the ATM you could just live on the main drag, going between Bo's Beach and La Grande Boeuf in the day and Tam Tam & Za Za at night. Being a small place, you may have to choose between GFE with one girl and brazenly working through the pros because I tried to juggle a waitress and 2 pros from Tam Tam and ended up having to change hotel. I stayed at Plazza Sur which is a stone's throw from Bo's and a 4 min walk from the rest. I visited Mangily which according to the guide is 'saturated with go-go tourism' but the place was quiet in July; no vazeha (just me and 2 Belgian lesbians) , no girls and not many bars. I liked Tulear; as has been said by others, the girls seemed more earthy than up north.
I spent 1 night in Fianarantsoa which looked horrible but I only saw the gare routiere and didn't make it to Fort Dauphin or Majunga or Morondava.
Those are the nuts & bolts. I'll post soon on general impressions, prices, language etc but basically I had a blast even though I missed out completely on Ambatoloaka. I was there in low season. Several hotels I was the only guest and it may have made the place seem less of a destination than it usually is.

You need time? 2 weeks as minimum is ok. 3 weeks is better. Not user friendly? If you know about the different transport options as well being flexible in looking for accomodations then you should not have any problems. Expensive? Except the flights, all other expenses are below the typical McBang destinations. My budget (hotel, food, drinks, parting-fee) in Tana is 150 EU and far below 100 EU / day in the province. That is enough to enjoy a daily meal of Entrecôte de Zebu Malgache avec sauce au vin rouge et à la moutarde.

I think if you want to find good girls, cheap and without problem of any kind (transport, hotel,.) Madagascar is not the ideal destination for you.
In Madagascar, you have mainly two options:
1. Either, you're a rich tourist and :
- you can afford to pay a luxury hotel.
- air travel throughout the island,
- pretty and elegant girls proposed by the hotel or specialized agencies, without delay,
2. Either way, you're a simple tourist, with an average budget, and you should live rhythm like other tourists:
- with hotels and bungalows according to your budget, however very nice,
- the bus trips that are much cheaper,
- girls more "natural".
And this second option is not for busy people, because it will include real adventure (roads in bad conditions, traffic jam in towns, not comfortable taxi in comparison to european taxi, etc.) and is time consuming.
In any case, I really enjoy Madagascar and I hope to stay here for still many years!

You sit like sardines waiting for hours to fill prior to departure. Not to mention safety. Its not possible to enjoy the view unless you are a masochist.
Flying both ways is the safest option. For example I got a flight to diego and from there I took a private taxi to Ramena. I paid small money for half a day so the driver was also my guide. I also find taxis for 100usd from diego to sambava some kind as a tour but eventually I took the plan.
AirMad became so bad that sometimes during the flight the plane change the route to pick up other passengers from another route to fill the plane. Delays cancellation are norm.
Sure, Botaki will never miss his Motorbike / 4x4 adventure picking girls in his way to Morandava. But this days its became more challenging due to safety.

Few things more fun than than bringing a Malagasy girl on her virgin flight, you know she remembers forever this.
Yeah. Riding a Transalp through Mada is something special. But also not a cheap solution. Same with flying or renting a car / driver. The whole transport infrastructure in Mada is either very low-cost shitty or expensive. Nothing in between.
Problem is that there is no round-the-island flight. You need always to go back to Tana and will loose another day on transfer. On certain days you can choose Tana. Nosy Be or Diego Suarez and on return a stop in Mahjunga. Or in the south Tana. Morondava. Tulear. Fort Dauphin. Tana. But some of the connection flights are small planes and difficult to confirm a seat and each section will set you back 170 EU!
Suggestion for any traveler with less then 2 weeks time: focus on 2 places only: Tana (unavaiodable for 2 or 3 days) plus 1 town in south-west or north-east, depending on the time of the year. Take a plane to that destination and enjoy.
Accommodation however, is available outside Tana for average 20 EU. And that rooms are no flea bags:
Picture 1 = Serena Hotel, Tulear = 65. 000 MGA.
Picture 2 = Jardin Exotique, Diego Suarez = 60. 000 MGA.
Picture 3 = Chez George a Plage, Maglivy = 35. 000 MGA.
Just to name a few. All bkfst included, some with free wifi.
Add 8000 MGA for a meal plus drinks. It will sum up to 100. 000 MGA a day = 35 EU for the essentials. Avoir un jour heureux.

For example from Morondava one way to the north is two tickets, Morondava-Tana + Tana-Sambava.
The reason I have visit Mahaganga is that the lady from AirMad office in Morondava told me that Morondava-Mhaganga is one ticket only although we change plan in Tana.
AirMad domastic prices are mysterious, only when you face the AirMad office you will eventually know the cost. This is effected by various variables such as the mount of discount you got from your previous international flight with AirMad, the route and the currency you pay. I have paid 104us$ from Diego to sambava but in Ariary the price was not equivalent. They are making huge amount of calculations when preparing the ticket you can get crazy waiting.

Once you reach the brousse then yes: ample opportunities for little fees.
You can rent old but good Honda Africa Twin's 650 cc for 50- EU / day from Tana or 250 cc extreme Cross bikes in Tulear for 80-EU / day. For both you need to be well experienced riding in deep sand. If you lack that skills, rent a Quad. But it will not bring you over a distance: gas consumption 8 l / 100 km with a 12 l gas-tank only.
You can buy Chinese scooters all over Tana. But they won't last the road to Morombe. And once bought. Hard to sell.
I am planning to fly to Tulear in Summer can I rent or buy some Chinese motobikes?If you want to do something like that. You need to speak French. Sure you can do it and do whatever you want, but your experience will not be the same. Besides, it isn't about trying to get something for as little money as possible. These are poor people, but still deserve of respect (if you are capable of having some respect). Also: the infrastructure in every ways in Madagascar is not there.

I always thought their website is unreliable so in my previous 2 trips I used an agent. Just bought a e-ticket carefully from theirwebsite and it pass fine including mail confirmation.

The intended route will include 3 major areas:

As result, coming of two-week millionaires, businessmen and silly NGO's with deep pockets to "reeducate" our boxes will change the scene. Not immediately. But look at Thailand and Philippines 10 or 20 years ago. Our hunting ground in Mada may deteriorate the same way.
But to be fair, the betterment of infrastructure, food supply, education, health services, security on the roads will make the life of the regular folks more pleasant. For us hunters in the brousse it's perhaps then a different game.

HOTELS.
First stop was Delice the'Orient. Too pricey so tried.
Le Recif.
Dirt cheap at 12 k hairies. There's a karaoke hall attached. The manager warned me of the noise but the event was in full swing and the noise wasn't that bad. I could cope with the help of ear plugs. Karaoke is Malagasy for 'sing along with prostitutes. ' When bored with singing they have a tendency to roam the corridors looking for victims. If you have the misfortune to be abducted, be assured that your cries of alarm and subsequent moans of pain will be swamped by the noise from the hall.
The toilet area has signs of plenty merde and not a lot of eaux and before use you are well advised to spray liberally with insect killer and splash around liberally with dettol. That goes for the shower too. The heater was being repaired when I was there so not only was there no hot water but the floor and fittings were covered in pieces of insulation. The downstairs toilets (the level of the karaoke hall) were indescribable (well, I could, but I won't).
In the room you have the option of opening the window and letting in the beasts of the night, or leaving the door open and letting in the prostitutes, or closing both and slowly suffocating to death while asleep. I managed to scrounge a fan from the manager and so kept all unwelcome visitors at bay. One blessing was the mosquito net, which fitted ok once I had moved the bed a few inches and patched up the holes.
The karaoke noise was just bearable and after making the effort to settle in I decided to stay in for a second and final night before moving on to more salubrious accommodation. I took an afternoon nap after a long walk and, at about six, I was lying half awake wondering when to get up and have dinner when a murderous assault on the eardrums suddenly erupted out of nothing. The source was dangerously close, to be precise the hall across the passageway. In the morning this had been used as a conference hall complete with wall charts, clip boards and an assertive woman who was showing the delegates seated around her the key to success in life and business. Now it was occupied by a bulky male, dressed like a New York street bopper, wedged between two speakers the size of Toyota minibuses.
I dashed back to my room, still in shock. Earplugs were no good. The damage was being done by the lower registers – deep throbbing barrages of destructive waves, vibrating the building down to its very foundations. For the first time, I realised that sound could be used as a weapon of war. Symptoms of shell shock were creeping in so I grabbed what I needed to go out and dashed down the stairs into the street.
I had dinner in a restaurant several blocks away, where they told me the Friday disco at Le Recife would start at eight. I worked out that what I had heard was the tune-up.
After dinner they began arriving – in cars and vans, on bikes and quads, on foot; hundreds of them, streaming towards the source like ants to a jam pot. Many continued into the hotel itself and up to the music hall. Brave? Foolish? Incurably addicted? Masochistic? All the above?
I moved to a bar at the end of the block where the noise was still very loud. The street was full of people, listening, jigging around, drinking beer and pissing it into the street. One girl danced barefoot for hours in the forecourt of the garage on the corner, using a petrol pump for a partner. Where were the men in white coats, I wondered.
Anxious to get back to my room but fearing the barrage, I paced the streets outside. I assumed it would finish at midnight, as the karaoke had, but come one a. M. It was in full swing. I asked a reveller when it was due to finish. 'Three o'clock. ' For another two hours I dragged my tired body back and forth around the block. By half three most of the revellers has dissipated and I crawled through layers of debris back to my room.
Up at eight, packed and ready to move to more peaceful pastures, I was amazed to see that all the debris had been cleared up, the DJ and his minibuses had been replaced by an extra-large woman in front of a clip board sporting the route to success, surrounded by neat rows of desks and chairs. It was as if a town had magically rebuilt itself after being torn apart by a raging battle the day before.
I was told that the onslaught would resume that evening and again the following night (Sunday). I headed across town.
Verdict on Hotel Le Recif: A great place to catch lots of interesting diseases and destroy your eardrums, cheaply.
Hotel Sidi.
Typical Chinese extravaganza of a building. Rooms at 50k hairies and up. Will do your laundry even if not staying there.
Morabe.
In a nice enclosed garden a few blocks from the Sidi. With no easily seen board outside giving it away, I approached a woman who was sitting in the middle of the garden on a table with her legs stretched straight in front of her like a fat moustachioed cross between a Buddha and Yoda. By moving only the muscles of her face she summoned a minion to show me a room. Not bad for 15 k hairies. Toilet not too far and looked ok. Would have been my first choice but for its proximity to the war zone.
Leung.
Rooms ok and looked secure, but overpriced. Who needs a TV?
Mangrove Annex.
'Reception' is another fat woman with moustache (why are Betsilio women so hirsute?) This one was slow as a slug, physically and mentally, and strangely unenthusiastic about receiving visitors.
Too basic, even for me. And I do appreciate service with a smile.
Orchidee.
A secure enclosure of nice en-suite bungalows for 20k hairies. Pity no hot water and no fan but can live without both. Run by very nice people. Stayed there the rest of my time in Manakara.
Good value and an ideal place to stay. Also, close to the railway station.
Tsy Manavaka.
Didn't see the rooms but judging by the restaurant, and the fact that some of the rooms are in a newly built block where the guide shows Jacoptere gift shop (No longer on that stretch of road) I would guess the rooms are in good condition and cheap. Opposite the station. Probably a good place to flop after arriving by train. Wish I'the known.
RESTAURANTS.
Tsy Manavaka.
Good place to eat, especially for breakfast. Local dishes. Nothing touristy. Waitress thrown if you don't speak French or Malagasy. I had a lot of trouble simply ordering boiled eggs, even in French.
Gourmandise.
In town centre. Plenty of choice on the menu. Service better than standard by nice Chinese ladies.
Le Kameleon.
Near Orchidee. Young French owner speaks English, which was much appreciated when I staggered in one evening having just had an acute dose of diarrhoea seeking tea without milk and plain rice, nothing else. Absolutely no problem.
Somewhat limited menu but food good. Went in there one Sunday and, after ordering wine, was told 'wine off – its Sunday. ' What? A French restaurant that doesn't serve wine? Disgraceful.
Le Fumoir.
A watering hole for ageing French men, who clearly treat it like a private club. Together with the staff who were partying with a couple of local bucks on bikes in the road outside, they were all having a such a jolly good time they had little to spare for their one and only customer.
I ordered tornados and the steak I got was thick, nicely browned on the outer 1 mm and bleeding on the inside. If I'the wanted tartare I'the have ordered tartare.
Tornados are supposed to be cut from the fillet but this one was so chewy it could have come from the rump. What was on the menu as 'legumes' arrived as 70% potatoes and 30% carrots. Everywhere else, 'Legumes mixe' means beans and carrots. Since I also ordered frites, surely the waitress could have warned me of the potential potato overdose. But that would have involved a modicum of mental effort, and she was anxious to get back to her bikers.
The one plus was the wine, which you could order by the half bottle or half litre. And at reasonable prices. Why don't all restaurants do this?
Guinguette.
In a lovely spot overlooking the river. Favoured by local French. Long wait for service as one waitress serving several tables. Good fish.
La Belle Vue.
Next to Guinguette. The vue is indeed belle in spite of being dominated downstream by the ugliest bridge I have ever seen. Painted rust coloured in vain attempt to disguise the fact that it is 50% rust, it looks about ready to collapse, a fate already befallen the end section which has slumped to ground level, making the bridge traversable only by foot passengers fit enough to scale the makeshift wooden steps (photo attached.) Try not to be on it when the next cyclone hits.
The restaurant itself is profusely decorated with all manner of paraphernalia. The food, especially seafood is good and reasonably priced. The poisson au coco I can heartily recommend.
Chez Clos.
Got a somewhat frosty reception when I arrived early one morning for breakfast while they were still putting the tables and chairs out. Otherwise pretty ordinary restaurant.
Golden Lapa.
No longer the 'pleasant little snack bar' of the guide, rather a large karaoke joint.
OTHER.
Internet.
Magnarobo closed, possibly permanently. There's a cybercafé opposite the Delices the'Orient restaurant, and another just before the turning off to the port before Fumoir restaurant.
The Train.
Much touted by guide books as a good travel experience. Yes, but.
The chances of it ever leaving on time must be remote. Scheduled to leave at seven; in fact that is the time the driver arrives at work. He then disappears for half an hour (breakfast?) before climbing into his engine. 'Ah, ' I think, 'this is it'. But it isn't. He spends the next hour shunting carriages around. When he shunts up to the line of carriages wherein nestles my own, and his minion jumps out and shackles the engine to the leading carriage, I think 'ah, this is it'. But it isn't. What I had missed was the minion unshackling two carriages further back. The engine then (painfully slowly) draws the liberated carriages back along the line and stops. Minion jumps out, does something clever to the points and the engine shunts the carriages into a side line and reverses back to starting point. Minion jumps out.
Much of this is being enthusiastically snapped by French tourists who make up 95% of the passengers. Not only them but a French TV video team with cameraman are occupying the four seat area opposite my own. The cameraman, despite his advancing years, is an accomplished contortionist, bending his body this way and that on the tracks to get his large, heavy camera into angles that will create shots soon to be recognised as high art. Cannes on his mind? Bit over the top, really. I mean it's only a rusty old diesel train.
When we are eventually on our way, I am wedged within a phalanx of French, thankfully against the window. The scenery is lovely, the stations are overflowing with vendors as promised by the guide books, daring youths cling to the sides as the train leaves and jump off at various destinations, trees laden with lychees pass leisurely by. And so it goes on. And on. And on. Through the morning, then the afternoon and then the night.
The station stops, which at the beginning are thrilling cultural experiences, become more and more tiresome; the vendors an increasing nuisance, the French snappers sticking their cameras into the faces of platform fauna an increasing embarrassment, all exacerbated by the length of the stay at each station which appears to get longer and longer as the journey progresses. Some of them last more than an hour.
When you eventually arrive at Manakara station in the depths of the night, you are saddle sore, hungry, very tired and sick to death of all trains everywhere.
Until you board the train back. This one takes even longer at the stations while its freight carriages are stuffed to overflowing with baskets of lychees destined for the markets of Manakara and beyond.
Shoulda gone back by minibus. Some people never learn.

Tana has no "middle of action". There is no red-light district, only few discos spread over town. Tana.lingua is french. Many folks and taxi drivers even don't speak that.
You already got your ticket. So, least opportunities for you to fuk up within your budget:
Option 1: Book a double room at "Hotel Glacier", Rue Independence and at night walk downstairs to Cabaret Glacier.
Option 2: Book the "Sakamanga". They speak english there. And at night ask for a driver arranged by the hotel.

Bringing girls from the disco will be the same as the Philippines so no real added value with this kind of short trip. For my upcoming trip I have started to re-learn French as I do not practice it on a daily basis.
Now the opposite approach to my claim is that I always enjoy Thailand, Brazil, Laos and defiantly not speaking all language. However Tana is not Bangkok so I would suggest to visit other town / city such as diego or a smaller town. In this scenario you will have a great time but not in Tana. Tana is even worst then Manila but if you like manila Tana can be a perfect choice.

Ps I shall probably visit Morondovia, Fianarantsoa and Tamatave (plus obligatory passes through the capital on my way in and out).

This area is the only place that has a few girls with light brown color. (outside Tana). I did like two types: the mixed tribes of Mahajanga dark but exotic (some arabs / indian blood) and the light brown found in the area of Morondava. (although most are black). Never saw that color elsewhere. Also Morondava area has a solid and hard body as opposed to sambava which has the most inferior body. Ella was a good example for tall girl with a sex bomb body type.
Internet access was fast in the cities and slow in small towns two and the half years ago. WIFI are easy to find in the cities.

My preferred hotel: Anjara (2 stars hotel European standard; 70 000 Ar; quite.not on busy road, wifi; GF of course as everywhere (!) but downstair restaurant different owner not so good or cheap)
And 5 mn by foot from boulevard Joffre or beach restaurants and action (Queen'S Neptune; Beach area SW.
Possibility to take breakfast or drink with wifi at Sharon Hotel; or Java Hotel; or restaurant La Terrasse.
Conclusion: easier than in European cities where wifi is always limited or non existent!

Thank you for your response to the "wifi" question. Even though I didn't ask it, I find this sort of info helpfull. And I certainly appreciate the details you give in your response about the names of the hotels, cost and even quality of food.
I hope you don't take your personal experience in Tamatave for granted! I know sometimes we feel like there is nothing more our report can add. But in reality and especially for the ones never been to madagascar your report may be the reason why they'll go!
Please give us a report about that February 2013 trip or more recent if you like.
Based on your response to a simple question, I am confident your report will be one of the best!
I fully agree with this analysis from first to last line.

No law against mongers that use adult prostitution services but this term "sex tourism" is normally used to describe "Child prostitution" which is a very serious crime!
As long as you bring 18+ girls you will be fine and girls I'd is being enforced at almost any one of the cities hotel.

In other direction walk along beach to centre. The price, if remember was 30 or 35 euros. There are others nearby, but Miramar with nice jardin, set-up and on beach is good.

I stayed there only once several years ago, but go from the city center by pousse to the pool on daytime. However the food is good, the malagasy staff relax.
At 500 m from MIRAMAR, I highly recommend OCEAN 501 - known by the local as RAVINALE (even closer of Pandora) completely renovated by French manager; excellent food with terrasse on the beach side under the trees; Friday jazz concerts or other animation; nice waitresses; night rate for 51 000 Ar with aircon. I stayed there last January about 10 nights in two stays, as an alternative to FOULPOINTE where rooms without aircon are too hot at this season.
When you already have your regular or phone numbers, or you want to diversify on Friday and Saturday nights, both places are worthwhile; as it is pretty far from the city center especially by night to get a taxi.
Between the two sites, on the beach you have RELAX BEACH bar with sofas on the beach. Free of charge. Or with some tip (0,10 E!) for the nice guy bringing the mattresses; with standard drinks and erratic food. But it is MADA!

I understand nothing in maxi 390.6 KB. Its the max file size (compression ratio) for 640 x480 resolution.In most programs you can adjust the compression to be minimal so the photo quality will be the same as the original. Larger file means better photo quality but it needs more space for storage.

-I went to MADA at least once a year sometimes twice from 2002 to 2009 (president RAVALOMANANA era);.
In that time the decent hotels where I stayed had all a big post behind the reception desk with a photo of a child with a big "STOP" and it was written in English (or French) : sex abuse of children is an offence highly punished by law.
-In the meantime, receptions of decent hotels was always collecting and checking I'd of visiting girls... All hotels being girls friendly.
This second policy remains in perfect practice but the big posts diappeared during the last three years, as I came again in 2012; 2013;2014.
Before the end of his second mandate, RAVALOMANANA (who has the reputation to have many women under his evangelist appearance and official practice) in 2008 passed a law against prostitution.
He was obliged to resign and fly in South africa after riots in 2009 (not for that reason of course... But because of his sale of vast pieces of land to foreign groups; and as he was well known as a predator with immense wealth... Taking a part in all profitable businesses) RAJOELINA became "Chairman of Transition" from 2009 to end of 2013.
The law was not abolished.
The mongering life remained unchanged in line with above mentioned practice.
Last January, when I was in Mada, I observed behind the reception desk of my hotel in TAMATAVE (but it could have existed in the past years without I noticed it) another poster, not apalling at all!
It reprensented various "comics" (about 6 comics on the poster) fully written in malagasy.
One day I suddenly understood that it was a poster against prostitution!
As by looking with great attention, it represented funny situations between men and girls: one man asking a girl to come; one girl accepting banknotes; one man negociating with a girl in a room... Most of the men and all women were brown coloured... Only in one comic there was a white man.
Honestly it is a very bad promotion against prostitution... As you need a real attention to understand the purpose of this serie of comics.
Moreover: nothing is written in French (official language of MADA with malagasy).
Useless to say accordingly that it is not targeted against foreigners (as the 2002-2009 poster).
You have to know that according to NGO, the prostitution with minors in the capital TANANARIVE -where there is obviously many foreigners is 90 % malagasy men prostitution.
So decent hotels everywhere in the country stick to the strict policy against minor prostitution and fully respect happy life between over 18 people.
To conclude, I confirm it can be just a tool for police to get money in special situations they feel or special location (reason for which I definitely banned NOSY BE as a mongering place as it is the kind of place to be raketted as a foreigner).
I shall tell you in a further post a situation which happenned to me in 2013 ... How it happened and how it was solved with laugh!

Honestly it is a very bad promotion against prostitution. In most cases, a common scenario for me in Mada is to bring a normal girl from beach / street / cafe etc and have fun. Then give some taxi money.
For example, in my last trip I had never took a pro which virtually non exist in such places such as Sambava or Antalaha. So to enforce this law they need two things.
1. someone that inform the police about an crime / incident.
2. a proof that the girl is a well known professional.
If a NORMAL GIRL got taxi money does this may be consider as a crime of prostitution? the answer is no
Based on my 17 years in africa is that as long as you don't have a disagreement with a lady (pro or non-pro) and the girl (pro or not) is above 18. You will be fine. Corrupted police is another matter.

It is MADA (TAMATAVE) report one month: from end January to end February 2013; based not only on my souvenirs and pics, but my hand memo.

Where in the world can you enjoy with no stress, for such cheap life?
And if you are backpacker you divide easily by two.
For restaurants info in TAMATAVE:
Breakfast with wifi: I enjoyed JAVA Hotel or SHARON Hotel (as I do not like to stay in my room for breakfast).
Dinner: I most appreciate:
-L'ADRESSE.
-LA VERANDA.
-LA TERRASSE is good but too much a pro meeting point.

For me a pleasure of Madagascar, is to live as a king, with no stress, with a charming hostess eager to please you at any time, day and night. Even if in my case, I prefer to be free during daytime to enjoy the swimming-pool; wanderings in the city.
So I usually convey her for the dinner to enjoy an accompanied dinner even if you can ask the girl to come directly to your hotel for bed session. Moreover I am not a heavy drinker, so I am not the kind of man who spends hours drinking beer alone.

The only place I found sexy girls was in the city of Mahajanga but its not a tourist friendly city more like a port city terribly hot.
In Diego, most are ugly and the disco full of them. Here and there some sex bombs similar to Mahajanga but very few and taken already by the local expat. Sambava area and Anthalaha has many girls but they don't look attractive. (Only Through the viewfinder of my expensive DSLR).

Following of my latest report.
As TAMATAVE has no swimming beach –only swimming pools- I decided to go –as the previous year – 5 nights intra week to Foulpointe.
It is the closest beach of TANA by car (about 9 hours drive), so it is more difficult to have a good room during week-end. Even if there is a lot of bungalows in falafel always available for peak week-ends.
Accordingly it has to be avoided during long week-ends.
And 2 hours drive from TAMATAVE.
In TAMATAVE, you can walk on the beach for miles and miles, but to swim would be dangerous because of current and squales. In Foulpointe, it is a lagoon.
You can go by taxi-brousse if you are backpacker. But the taxi brousse stops at the center of the village which is pretty far of the beach and hotels.
Or you can hire a taxi with chauffeur (never rent a car to drive yourself in MADA! So many holes on the roads!) It is pretty expensive: 100 000 ar (33 E) for 60 km (2 hours) on a tarred but sometimes very deteriorated road. (Considering the cost of gasoline and the taxi going to and back, it is not dishonest).
The main drawback is that WIFI is non existent in Foulpointe and cyber in the village very slow, costly and erratic; only mobiles work very well. I suggest to go there from a Monday to Friday. And accordingly best moment to have a room in the best hotel Manda Beach (55 000 ar) (18 E! You have plenty of cheaper accommodations in bungalows especially with Gentil Pecheur which is the best restaurant. But Manda Beach has the merit to have a pool (cf. Pics).
Accordingly, I decided to go to Foulpointe Manda Beach with my new girl as previous year. However, I do not recommend it in February as I did (March the previous year was good) because it is too hot to sleep in the rooms of Manda Beach even naked on the bed, door and window opened. A window at each extremity of the room would allow air to flow, but it does nor exist and fan is not sufficient.
It was "hot time" in all senses. I ploughed her juicy and so orgasmic pussy with greed.

Several posts question on mongering right in MADA, and authorities implementation of supposed and real regulations.
On the way back from Foulpointe with my girlie, the taxi has been stopped two or three tiles by the police or the gendarmes, as on the way to, as usual.
Usually, they just check the driver's documents.
But this time at one stop the gendarmes (they have the reputation to be tougher than the police) checked the driver's documents, then they asked her ID to my girlie (nothing to me).
One of the two after checking asked my girlie to go out of the car to talk with him about 10 meters at the back of the car, the other gendarme remaining, close of the car and windows opened.
During that time, I remained smiling to him, with my sun glasses, showing that I was completely relax.
He had some conversation with his colleague and asked him where was the problem?
He asked me: maybe minor?
I laughed. I told him, it was clear she was not, to any accustomed eyes, and I added she was moreover mother of a two years old boy. She was 21.
As the palaver between my girl and the gendarme at the back seemed endless, after around 10 mn I finally said to the gendarme near the car: "Very sorry but I have to collect a friend at Tamatave airport (on this road) and I would not like to be late" (In fact he was coming the day after).

- I did not give a bigger amount of money as it was a way to confirm that I had no fear of anything, but just wanted to end a too long stop;.
- And my girl never appeared as a prostitute but as an attractive lover of an old guy to settle her future.
In such a situation, self-control, with a good knowledge of local environment to get an end, was the appropriate answer.

But pulled out a (already invalid) I'd and handed it over to him. I always carry that with me. In case they want to keep it, go ahead. I also gave him a copy of my visa-stamp from the passport. He did study it, looked at the front, at the back, looked at me, did say something in Malgache, I did smile at him. So it was a standoff for a few minutes. Till he lost his patience, gave back my papers to the driver and waved us off. Case settled.
On all my stops in the past it was never a drama. More a curious questioning. I never got threatened, more looked at like a strange animal.
On Foulpointe: I have wonderful memories at the same hotel also with a girl I brought along from Tamatave for 4 days. In Foulpointe I did not see any "beach-walker" except the local tourists. Its a BYO beach destination, but worth to go.

So April, May, June. Are superb.
Water of the lagoon perfectly clean for swimming or snorkeling.
Manda Beach restaurant is good and its neighbour Gentil Pecheur is considered as the best (even from TANA resident: several years ago, I met there the manager of Sakamanga excellent restaurant of TANA (and hotel) he confirmed it was best cooking: of course French or Malagasy or Chinese as you like but mostly seafood: coco lobster is the must.
If two girls I believe one would have say I just accompanied my cousin with her boyfriend!

In Mangily, try Villa Maroloko: good rooms for 20.30 EU and the resto / bar at the beach is good.

2) because of mine industry not far (250 km) and main harbour of mada, it is the base of english speaking engineers (british, us; canadian; southafr; korean.) during week ends or relax time. so the place where the girls are the most "english speaking". but do not expect too much on language. or learn malagasy. useless in bed! twice with gf during 3 weeks speaking neither english nor french. or so few! best girls are those non pros just arrived from "la brousse " (the bush)!
3) in my opinion: betsimisaraka girls are the most gf of mada.
4) easy to reach by avoiding antananarivo (additional costs; pollution.) : air austral: flights from reunion to tamatave. accordingly best option is flight paris- saint denis de la reunion -connection at least once a week to tamatave(on 3 flights uu per week between reunion and tamatave). and also an airmad flight once a week from reunion to tamatave(to be confirmed).
5) i do not go anymore to nosy be (even if you might also be lucky) but the influence of tourism polluted the mada relax atmosphere in my opinion (influence of ngo; french tv criticising sexual tourism in nb; assassination of a french tourist accused of ****philia 18 months ago (probably in fact it was an internal conflict in a local malagasy family: he was burnt on the beach by angry locals!

For SSS (sun, sex, sea) there are better destinations then Mada. Both mombasa and Boca Chica are better as they have higher concentration of girls per beach area. Better bodies and taller. Coming to Mada for a single town or city will miss the whole point for a beginner.
The Idea here is the unique GFE and paradise environment, Its Not a a commercial SEX supermarket as Mombasa and BC. Here you need to explore and travel around before you get the idea of the best place for you.
For my 3rd trip next month I will start from Tamatave and travel by land to the north passing Mananara, Maroantsetra and Antalaha. Others like may like the south but again its all subjective and a matter of personal taste.
Girls are everywhere. My "On the ground" report will start around SEP 23.

I did not like Nosy Be 15 years ago and all I am reading about this island, it did not get any better.You are right on the fact that you cannot swim in the ocean in Tamatave: not because of pollution. But because of squalls and currents.
The beach (with no swimming) remains very pleasant at relax beach bar or hotel ocean 501 (15 mn by pousse from the center).
But as soon as you have a girl friend, you go 60 km north to Foulpointe, you stay in Manda beach hotel (55 000 ar per night= 19 e) with its nice swimming pool and the beach, good food. And you enjoy the lagoon. (100 000 ar by taxi (33 e) , I do not suggest taxi Brousse if you can afford, as taxi Brousse leave you in the village far from the beach).
If you prefer changing often of girlfriend: stay in city and go daily to the most pleasant part of the beach to relax beach or ocean 501 (where you can stay 10 mn by foot of best week end night club: Pandora).
Nosy be, in my opinion: too many problems with tourists.
Diego: no beach. Have to go to Ramena (10 km) which is a beach I did not find very clean. Even if lot of local " massage", better choice in town.
Tulear: no beach. Have to go to Ifaty (27 km)/ mangily. Same: bring your girl found in town.
Morondava: yes, beach and hotels, but small city, choice of girls more limited.
Majunga: the only city with close beach. Lot of girls. It is the only real alternative to Tamatave, and "experts " often share their time between Tamatave and Majunga. But climate very hot most of the year.
Antalaha: seems attractive, not yet gone there, smaller city -probably as Morondava-but girls seem attractive: it is my target for next October / November.
Tulear: no beach. Have to go to Ifaty (27 km)/ mangily. Same: bring your girl found in town.

The beach is wild and many a hotel are directly on the beach. The food is mind blowing at Orchidea Beach II hotel directly on the beach. The owner told me that the name II came after the first hotel destroyed by a cyclone. Two horny waitress are waiting to get fucked at the hotel restaurant but the owner almost killed me for trying to get them to bed. This is a secondary road at the beach and it cost more money to get there by taxi since its off the main road, not far. A few girls are on the beach during day time but no Pro or semi pro just good girls and serious. The best strategy is Tonga-Soa so come here with phone numbers. There is no disco so is more about internet dating and random beach girls or hotel stuff girls. If you stay at Orchidea Beach II stay away from the bangalo, its not secure so take the rooms inside the hotel compound.
OK want more action? No problem. Two hours drive and you are in Antalaha. Girls are taller and more open to get fucked any time. Few semi pro that will accept small money. A few hotels in town but do not go to the beach hotels such as ocen Momo, its dangerous dark and isolated!
Start with hotel vitasoa its in the middle of the action, there is another hotel next to it with a pool. The idea here is different then Sambava no internet dating is required no phone numbers, no disco, girls are everyware just start to talked with them at the street and asked them for lunch. Getting girls here is like fishing, you need to act and wait for the fish to come. No supermarket but many nice fish will swim around you.
More info for Mananara up to Antalaha will start at SEP 22. I will be there for one month. I will travel with my Buddy one gopro camera,two samsung S5 with 4K video and a DSLR. Cant wait.

Afternoon, I went swimming to the swimming pool I like, near the beach at 15 mn in Pousse-pousse: Hotel Miramar: 50 m swimming pool (5000 Ar entry fee: 1,70 E. Good food also possible).
Dinner at L'Affiche, I consider one of the best quality / price restaurant in town -with La Veranda.
But strong rain started: I had not taken my raincoat and had no umbrella. In consideration of this adverse situation, I decided not to go hunting. As not equipped!

I met once an expat knowing very well "la brousse" (in local development business. But at dinner in ANJARA he was like us with a local meal) who told me in 2013 the cost for chartrering a "taxi brousse -private / equipped. " with needed pieces required in case of mechanical problems. And subject to feasability according to the situation of the "piste". (It is right it is no more the rainy season. But on the east coast there is "the rainy season" and "the season when it rains".).
Cost:
Tamatave. Mananara: 900 000 ar.
Mananara- Maroantsetra : 1 200 000 ar.
As far as the maps show: there is no road between Maroantsetra and Antalaha. Only food paths? (And probably non scheduled flights).
But sure you will find the freshess meat in "la brousse" !

.Between Maroantstra and Antalaha there is no access by automobile so anyone wanting to go north must go on foot using the trails. This trek takes 4 to 5 days from Maroantsetra, andyou walk between 6 and 7 hours per day. The walk is not too strenuous, but in some areas you ascend gradual mountains. You will need to hire a guide and some porters for food and tents to carry.

Hotel vitasoa is not for you since no aircon or pool. However its good for the first day. All mongers go to vitasoa so after a few hours you will know the name of the other hotel. (I forgot). For resizing you are right, it is finally what I found by myself on my last Windows 8 PC but before:
-I had a Windows XP with Mihov resizer which worked well. But bloody Microsoft killed Windows XP to sell their new shit Windows 8 to be reinitiated in windows7 style to understand how to drive this new car! Lot of time wasted and spent for these greedy Microsoft who have no respect for customers who do not want to change all the time what they know and work well for their needs!
-I tried download (badly with many agressive ads I cannot escape Resizing recommaded by this site. And because of so many agressive "Download" mentions, introduced a virus to my laptop!
-I asked an IT man to clean it then to introduce a resizer in my PC and laptop. So he did with a complicated one called: "RIOT" which was painful for resizing just one pic and a nightmare I never succeeded if wanted to resize with the option "Batch". I did not understood their help explanation so technical explanations. Wasted another afternoon.
Conclusion I resized one by one with Windows option which is quite easy. But as I have said to my IT man to download a resizer. So he did (paid by hour!) instead of telling me to use the easy windows system!

The road network is 0. 1% of the world road network. Not very dense and highly vulnerable to natural disasters, especially cyclones.
Only 1 larger container harbor exists in Tamatave along the whole coastline plus some smaller ports. There is no ferry network. Fishing boats are mostly driven by sails. Very few with old, unreliable diesel engines. To hire a fishing boat may take you even longer and is more challenging then on road.
Yes, its a country where even the "Camel-Trophy"-event could not be organised. Thanks to that, its for the "Indiana Joe" type of adventurer and does not fit the package sex tourist.

Madagascar offer more relaxed and safe environment outside the big cities. Its aimed to those type of mongers that are also a normal travellers. There is no fear of confrontation. Girls have better attitude, some has mix colour and often young. No stress, a perfect vacation for those who willing to travel and experience.
The equivalent for Mombasa in Mada are the big cities such as Diego. Girls appearance far below mombasa standards. I do not see any reason to travel all the way to any of the Mada big cities. Its just as any other african country but without the killer bodies.
Conclusions. I got tired for mombasa's bitches, the arguments, the police,the shit food, and the fear to leave my belongings safely in my room. Back to my roots of mixing real travelling with mongering. Want Mada big cities? Well, you will get mombasa in a different version perhaps with less risk but with less killer bodies and higher overall cost. If i have an apatite to a tall Concrete big ass type of girls for a week trip i normally go to Uganda. In fact I may have been influenced by the following story:
In 2002 at my first visit in MADA (Diego and Nosy Be) the following story was told to me by a French resident:
A young Italian (maybe younger than you) spent two weeks with a girl and at the end she asked for her "cadeau". The guy was surprised and refused. He thought to have spent time with a girlfriend as in Europe. But the girl went to the police. The police told the guy he had to pay the standard rate of that time. A NGO lady even increased the fee for the poor guy.
In line with this story, in that time, I had spent two weeks with a girl (not pro) found in Diego, with whom I toured in Nosy Be.
She had asked for nothing; just a shampoo for her hair in 15 days. But at the end I put an enveloppe under her pillow. She said thank you, but even did not count anything. Maybe I could have paid nothing, especially as I had been very clear from the beginning offering her travelling holidays and good time she enjoyed a lot.
Accordingly I kept in mind that "cadeau" was the rule.

I am planning my third trip to Madagascar. After I have been in the south and in Tamatave and Il Sante Marie it feels like it is time for Nosy Be. One thing that bothers me, Sandflies are there anyone of you that have any experience beeing on the beaches on Nosy Be. Sandflies on every beach? All year round? Do I need protection, repellents? I have had bad experience in Belize. To much sandflies. Hope someone can give me an answer.
If it is bad I will return to Tamatave again. Spent 3 weeks there in April last year. Had a wonderful time with lots of girls. Driving MC around Tamatave, Picked up girls all over town.

Very problematic airline. Just got a mail and phone call from Tana saying my returned flight has been cancel and I can choose any other available date. This makes my ticket an open ticket.
Another issue is that many routes has been cancelled. The most important for me is Maroantsetra to sambava. So now, from Maroantsetra I need to fly back to tana / tamatave and another flight to sambava. Not reasonable anymore.
The format of the online booking has been revised and show you only the available routes. So as illustrate in the photo, when you select Maroantsetra as the source, only Tana/Tamatave can be selected as a destination. Sambava can not be selected!
Next week I will need to make some new decisions when facing the office in tana airport.(The reason why not to book on-line in advanced is the 50% discounts available only when purchased in Madagascar office)

1. Mongering has a HIGHER priority then Camel Trophy adventure. Antalaha is my favourite place to start.
2. I have shown that there is no flight from sambava to maroantsetra but do I believe 100% to Airmad website? No way, I may get a good surprise when face an air mad office agent.
3. i have an immediate connection to sambava. Its better to book the ticket for north to south since Antalaha is a mongering place and better place to wait to your next flight.
"On the ground" report in just a few days. here is some of my working tools already packed. Not sure if to obey Tip number 1 which states bring a rocket pocket. i did it in Morondava but not sure about airport regulation now.

Has somebody infos?There is really no where around Ivato that I am aware of. For 2 nights I think it is worth take a taxi into the center (about AR 40,000) and staying at one of the many hotels there. I would only stay in Ivato area if I had an early morning flight the day after arriving on the late night flight.
I slept few times in Ivato and there is nothing. Just once I got one nice girl in one of the bars brochetterie Chinese owners. There were 2-3 girls but they were "army cock oriented" (there is an important base near the airport). I had just great luck. From my point of view. Don't waste time. Spend 2 nights in Tana. Some hangouts close real late and you can score already the first night.

After a few days at sambava I have desided to spearfish at Anthalaha. Just like that. Mr john palmer was the fist to unlock the hiden potential of that place.
Sitting in the best hotel in antalaha, hotel hazovola which is 200 meter away from hotel vitasoa. Two rooms types 75 k and 100 k. Swiming pool, wifi, minibar safe airconn and more.
As john said it not hunting its more like a spearfhishing the only problem when you shoot one fish you get two, LOL.
HOWEVER if you are a bigineer its not for you, if you need a disco go to tomasina but if you can use an agressive steet monering techniques then its the top.
Hotel vitasoa charge 35000 but its become a bit run down. For any help go to poul, he works in the kitchen in hotel vitasoa.
Tonihht the disco is bell roz beach. Should be the best in town but let me report on that latter on.
Since the last post of john the only difference in town is the huge number of motorbikes. They are everyware. Girls have them. Remined me thailand at the 90,s.
More to come as my next destination is maoanstera to do my camel troopy.

1) Antalaha: No objection to spearfishing and to get two instead of one. In Rome do as Roman do! I am not a dancer, and spearfishing was already my practice in Majunga.
2) Past girlfriend. Too long ago, and in our last email, she had a man who pirated her email and asked me not to write again. In any case, this process (Toamasina girl coming to Tana) is meaningful if you have a trip planned on the High Plateaux and want a trustworthy and delighting escort with no time in Tana to find a new right fish.
3) Thank you for your reference hotel in Antalaha, where I shall have a lot of time as my prospect is about 3 weeks between Antalahaand possibly Sambava.
4) When I think thouroughly about it, and the day of the week, I finally conclude that to be on a Friday in center Tanamight mix many advantages (change money; visit past hotel; check Airmad. And at least a "nap time" or "Friday late afternoon" before a short night for waking up early morning.
In fact I shall try to reach my past good driver of Tana. If he is available it might be very operational.
