Lets go technical.
I paid 148 dollar from tana to sambava. THere is a route from sambava and anthala to maorentera. In fact, there is a firect flight from anthalaha to maoenstra with small aircraft.
I paid 215000 ar from sambava to maorenstera.
Forget about air mad website. Its bulkshit.
The disco bell roz beach is 4 km out of town, evert tuk tuk driver knows it. Its not a mistake I have said tuk tuk and refere to anthalaha not pattaya. Its 5 k Ar cover charge for the disco.
However if you need a disco in anthalaha you are in the wrong place since daytime is far better.
Hotel hazovola has two floors plus ground floor, the first floor rooms are more expensive then the secound floor. The diffrence is the hardnees of the matress. Hard to belive but the same exact rooms but the matress.
Food is shit stay away.
Let me tell you now that antalaha is not a perfect place, we have two days power cut from the morning to 4 pm, all the sity every weekend.
GiRls are easy to get but somtimes hard to get rid of. This is not a joke. Another issue is that the girls look avarage not super sexy and mostly black. The town became more busy then 3 years ago.
Conclution. Its not everyone cup of tea as my buddy did like sambava much better then here. But I do like that eager girls.

After a few days at sambava I have desided to spearfish at Anthalaha. Just like that. Mr john palmer was the fist to unlock the hiden potential of that place.
Sitting in the best hotel in antalaha, hotel hazovola which is 200 meter away from hotel vitasoa. Two rooms types 75 k and 100 k. Swiming pool, wifi, minibar safe airconn and more.
As john said it not hunting its more like a spearfhishing the only problem when you shoot one fish you get two, LOL.
HOWEVER if you are a bigineer its not for you, if you need a disco go to tomasina but if you can use an agressive steet monering techniques then its the top.
Hotel vitasoa charge 35000 but its become a bit run down. For any help go to poul, he works in the kitchen in hotel vitasoa.
Tonihht the disco is bell roz beach. Should be the best in town but let me report on that latter on.
Since the last post of john the only difference in town is the huge number of motorbikes. They are everyware. Girls have them. Remined me thailand at the 90,s.
More to come as my next destination is maoanstera to do my camel troopy.
WAll the new motobikes are from illegal rosewood trafficking. Lots of new 4-wheel drives too.

After we left antalaha to maronsetra, we stayed there one night only. Its a shit hole few illigal taxies, one hotel with avarage stanDard. But when we wen to air man office day after landing she said no flight from town for 10 days. Holy shit. She had no computer and she called tana for reservation. She said there is a chance to get a flight in the next hour. We run like creazy with private car and we had only dollar to pay. The airport guy talled to tana and said that two vhaza care here only with dollar, HE got positive confirmation to get dollars. We went on tiny aircraft with propelors and arrived to tamatave.
Maorenstra main drag are dusty, food is expensive and the only resonable hotel was full. Coco hotel. Girls specifically teens were looking at us but the only disco is open only at weekend. Named zanzibar. Witout infrastructer there was no point to mongering and no flights back.
Now let me summarize antalaha expirence, I have monger around the world more then 25 years with 57 countries. There is no place that easy to get girls. I am serious all I did is sitting on my ass at hotel and say salama Ei vovo. And they come horny all night. I gave some of them meal and 10000 and others just gifts. They are poor and eager to go instantly.

Let me just start by saying, why in earth would want to leave that. LOL.
10 k, you know that's less than $4 USD. ! And you get a wild sex machine with that? Screw the food. LOL I mean how bad is the food anyhow? All I care is for simple fresh ingredients like sea food, rice, beans, fruits. Etc.
No need for 5 stars gourmet cuisine.

I was staying in a hotel near the one I was mentiond. 3 years ago at the same place I got the manager as my girlfrend, it was two weeks witout any payment, a true relationshipe. Our taxi stops at orchidea hotel and the dirver said its the only hotel around. Really? We went to another hiden hotel known only by expats, this is theone I sayed 3 years ago. ANtalaha has beach but not even come close to sambava, some parts are better speciffically near the area that ships are builed. There some mongerring cafes that only expats are there. Its half way from hotel vitasoa go the market. Girls will folow you and beg to be takken. Thre is only espreso not capocino and the food is shit. But the location. O my good.
Hotel vitasoa mentioned by john is a mongerig hotel, this is mean that is not fot the upper class tourist but you will get the best location in town and the best service which true understand the monger ssperit. Girls go to work and back from vanille so they pass on the road in front of the vitasoa. This is the moment then the spearfishing diver start to shoot.
Now hotel hasovola is far better but not the same service or location, althouge its near vitasoa its not plasent to go out at dark trough the alley. Breakfast is becoming worst as the black fat ***** will give you less coffe and half of the Baguette

I went to sleep yesterday witout gooing out but my buddy did made a tour and HE said that some world class babes are here both bllack and brown, yes the same buddy that wants to take the first plan to pattaya wants to stay longer in tamatave, this guy did not likethe look of the girls in sambava,antalaha but do like the exotic girls in tamatave.

I am also interested in the countryside sceneries (after Mada, I go to Namibia) , even if mongering is more than bonus!
I phoned Hazovola Hotel this morning to book -at this satge for three days. As from 1st October the guy told me the website rates are 5000 AR more, but agreed that if I stay longer the daily rate will be amended for me. I perfectly understand what may be Vitasoa (equivalent to Hotel de la Plage in Tamatave, close of QUEENS disco) but I am clearly looking for more comfort. And the difference between Double bed and King Size bed on Hazovola website already anticipates on the number of girls it is a practice to bring with, in Antalaha!
Sure I shall go to Vitasoa on daytime if they have a terrasse for drinks and view.
I understand the great challenge in Antalaha is to refuse girls canvassing. And to be selective on real attractive gem. Of course if I had unlimited capacities, I might eat everything passing by. But to be serious, it is not a matter of cost (at 10 000 AR!) but a matter of liquor saving to distribute it only in dedicated chosen most delightful altars.
Accordingly, my normal practice is to be extremely selective and refuse, for example all pros of Queens in Tamatave or La Terrasse, to select what I consider only semi pro or non pro gems.
If you are presently in Tamatave, from 7 pm, if you take a drink at La Terrasse, you will have girls asking for you as you describe in Antalaha . But they are full pros, usually not the best, even if it is difficult sometimes not to have temptation. All that depend on the number of pops you have capability to per night. If you are multi multi pops guy: try them all!
Back to informative in Tamatave:
La Terrasse has good food. With up mentioned atmosphere at dinner time!
But the best food in my opinion is:
L'Affiche: in front of La Terrasse, 50 m left on the other sidewalk.
La Veranda: first street on the left from La Terrasse: 50 m on the right sidewalk.

NO its not VB tip regarding rocket pocket its actually a trivial one which is to learn french. In the past this issue was discused and we heard many opnions.
Now, let me say it very very clear No french NO MADAGASCAR.
I took another two months lessons perior this trip and let me tell you I love it and love to communicate. My buddy just break another level of zombiness with his english which no one understand. No wonder HE was pushing me to leave so fast.

As you may know firm bed and mattress are rare in madagscar and might kill your entire vacation. Hotel hazovola may be the only one in antalaha with some but not all firm bed.
If you are comming for long term then its posible to buy a mattress and use it in lower class hotel or alternativly rent an appartment for 140 USD per month. Yes its not a typing error.
Hotel hazovola wifi is free but allows only one device to be connected at the same time. So if you use your tablet for internet browsing you can not use your phone to be connected to use important apps such as WhatApp
The solusion is so simple as follows. Go to reception and tell them you lost your pass. They will isue another pass that will not replace the previus one. Both wwill be active so two device can be connected.
I also recommand a flashlight apps for your phone since the ally is dark at night. Remember this is not thailand so more info more fun and less frustration.

I fully understand your preference for Pattaya ; but I just spent one month in Pattaya last July (my first visit to this place).
I especially enjoyed Devils Den, for which I promise to give soon my pics and best experiences with which girls.

I would never stay in MADA year long. 3 months per year is nice and with preferably some interruption.
In MADA you are really in a third world country; with girls with carefree attitudes. No Mamasan or Bar tenants. They are independent and happy life living in short term, for food, as for love, especially non pros of la brousse.
In Thailand it is no more third world. It has become "business world". Girls are governed by business and money. I may believe it was very different 30,40 years ago -closer of MADA atmosphere, but in an Asian mood.
What changes life everywhere: it is Internet and Wifi, which allow us to follow our business from anywhere in the world.
It is clear that in poor the countries, you have "love and friendly" without the "interest" you most often have in countries more developed as Thailand, where you are only a piece of juicy cake. (cf my reports on Eritrea: also nice time with girls -10 USD a day- in a completely different environment. My girlfriend after one month together was so happy she covered me with gifts as souvenirs, even if she perfectly knew that we would not have any contact after I leave).

I did a repeat visit to Diego Suarez last month. LE Taxi Be from Nosy Be has opened a branch there and is absolutely cleaning up. It attracts the locals in a way the other places never did and it's rammed which isn't necessarily a recommendation in my book. Night time business is way down in La Vahine, but that can make it more pleasant. La Taverne shut while I was there and the big cavernous new place beside it will probably follow and I heard the discos are suffering too. So now there are more bars which it needs but less choice.
Down opposite the port is a tiny hole-in-the-wall bar (down the steps from Place Joffre) The beer's not the coldest and you can often be the only person there but it's pleasant to watch the comings and goings. When a ship is in you can rub shoulders (literally, as I say it's tiny) with French or Indian sailors, Basque fishermen and Gurkha security. And with the women that hang out there.
Planned to check out Fort Dauphin but Air Mada left many suitcases including mine on the tarmac at Diego so I was stuck in Tana andleft early to Kenya.
Currently in Pattaya which feels a million miles and fifty years from Madagascar.

Interesting report on DS. For me it was a step back into a colonial time with French gentlemen discussing all day long little politics over many Pastis at the Cafe de la Rue. Some of them lost characters with no passage to return. The town was hot and dusty, nothing to do at daytime. For example, right now, it is impossible to get flight from Tana to the vanilla coast -- all full, and not only at holiday time. There are not enough flights and the plane to Antalaha is a small one. If you enter with Air Madagascar with plan to use the discount of 30-50% off domestic flights that can only be booked after arriving in Mada, you risk no availability. Or, you could get stranded in Sambava, with only return option a 12 hour taxi brousse to Antisirana, and thence flight back to Tana.

About visiting Sambava / Antalaha.Sambava is not about girls if you do not have time to get contacts. Although some poor girls are hanging around the beach opposite Orchidea Beach II hotel. (Photo attached). They are not pro or even 0. 1 pro.
Sometimes Expats come here to relax with Beautiful "Take away" girls from Thana. The have cars, money etc. I also was a few foreigners with local wife with 30 years age different. Not sure how they got them.
Overall, Sambava hasn't got affected by progress as Antalaha did and remains classic old fashion Mada resort town. The market has many fruits dirty cheap but mostly on the floor very few stands. Antalaha market is more compact without this large variety of fruits.
Smbava is one of the cheapest places to retired and if you want to walk to the sunset with a girl this is it. If you need action skip it and head to more busy and less attractive town of Antalaha.
I had been to Madagascar several times. Last time a year ago. And got opportunities to explore the bigger cities as well the hinterland. Its an amazing place with wonderful gasy filles.
I took note that the MGA is declining against the EU. Although the EU is also dropping against the $. We are talking of a 15% drop of the MGA within past 6 months: 3150 MGA for 1 EU. It would mean that the usual 40.000 MGA's for overnight companionship for girls out of the discos is only 12. -EU.
However, inflation rate is up in Mada. By thus I assume that 50.000 MGA will be very soon more likely the norm as parting fee: still little in comparison to other countries. I was always lucky with Badoo and Afrointroductions. Found many lovely ladies there. Tongasoa did change the design lately and seems to be more easy to handle now and has many ladies from the Sambava region. But perhaps the town is small and it may be difficult to say bye bye to invite the next one. Mada girls can be quite clingy.
On the fares: AF shows one-way and you have to add the rtn fare. But it may be almost the same fare from connecting towns in Europe.
Kenia Airlines will fly as from March to Tana. But does not have many origins in Europe: London and Paris? Then the connection ticket costs will kill the deal.

Tried to book Flight with Air Madagaskar to Sambava...Forget about it if you want discount. Just book to Tana and then get the 50% discount Tana-Sambava.
If you like sea-food you got it but if you like chips and spaghetti I do recommend to bring a bottle of Heinz ketchup as you will get tiny amount with a fully loaded chips plat.
After a few days of relaxing and hunting using pre-arrange online dating go to Antalaha. No dating is needed just walk around and girls are everywhere. Again not sophisticated or good looking but build from the ground for sex.
Unfortunately, Antalaha lost the small town charm and its looks like a city now. The only authentic town is Sambava which still full retain the charm and virtually unaffected buy tourism or modern progress.

I already said about the restaurant is Villa Scheridanne. The manager name is Emernasia she also make the food which take 45 minuets to be ready. The meal will be served to your room Balcony. She is the one with red. Again the food its a dream and you feel at home there assuming you have the right personality to join the group and to be generous.

Where are these other restaurants? Villas food mostly good (Orchidea more consistent though) fish was little dry actually sometimes. But beer cold, and conviviality quite good, yes. So, when was your stay, exactly? There was electricity out everyday first half of October there, and Antalaha also no power. Orchidea has a generator which they refused to run, saying it was too noisy and only for real emergency (like cyclone) so people very accustomed to no power. Glad to have visited. Once.

Tamatave has numerous bars with hard core girls that I would touch them with a Gopro pole. When the evening starts better many characters around so you need to go directly to your destination. In two days you will beg to "Air Mad" representative to put you on the first plan away. Then he will tell you that flights are fully book and you are actually fucked. Welcome to Gotham City a big slum.
Now, so where to go in Mada? Honestly I have no idea since Mada lost the charm and even Anthala is not attractive despite of the fact that every girl is available. They don't look sexy and the infrastructure are not well there.

And you will gain friends.

Hey guys, booked on 16 April to Tana, there is conflicting reports about visa on arrival, plan to stay 10 Weeks, some say up to 90 days some say only 30 days.Visa on arrival are available from up to 30 days to 90 days.
For 30 days its free. For 60 days it cost and for 90 days you will need to pay more.
The line at the airport is a bit confusing but just have cash and you will get your visa on spot.

First I have to apologize for the delay. But the coming reports and pics are from October / November 2014.
The reports were made on spot.
To classify photos and reports is always a work I postpone.
And I am always paralyzed by the computer action with re-sizing of pics which is a work I fear and is boring!
Luckily a buddy interested by my story made the action become reality.
Antalaha day 1.
1) Flight Tana- Antalaha:
It is always useful to be careful with Airmad schedule and planning, accordingly, I visited Airmad Branch in Tana the day before my trip, schedule was 30 mn ahead, and because of the lose planning they want to keep till last moment, they asked me to be at Ivato Airport at 05.10, two hours before (for a domestic flight!
However, luckily everything worked properly.
The plane was an excellent ATR 42 with about 45 seats and about 25.
Passengers between Tana and Antalaha , among which 5 Chinese businessmen (probably some buyers of rosewood, which illegal smuggling has been a wealth booster of Antalaha Malagasy crooks).
As, on Saturday, it is the only direct weekly flight between the capital and Antalaha , it shows that it remains a confidential destination.
2) Hotel Hazovola:
Thank you again to Wolferine for his information.
I shall just detail for future visitors.
My target was to have a swimming pool and wifi. Both are good (pool about 20 m long, good wifi in rooms.).
They have a strange tarif, I never saw in Madagascar: their rates are.
Different of 5000 AR in their two kinds of rooms, depending upon you.
Remain a true single. Or if you expect to bring a young pillow in your.
Room!
So, as I am a "pillow lover" I had to chose between room at 105 000 AR and 85 000 AR.
In fact the first night no 85 000 AR rooms available (there was a family.
Party), so I stayed in 105 000 AR room, but changed next morning.
Wolferine puzzled me about the difference of rate between their two kinds of.
Rooms which looked so similar, he said, the difference was just the bed.
Would be harder or softer.
In fact in the most expansive it is Kingsize Bed (160 cm) and TV satellite; in the cheapest, it is standard large bed (140 cm) and local TV channels. But the rest is similar, including WiFi.
I agree with Wolferine. No merit to pay the highest rate!
3) Discovery of Antalaha :
Very, very, very, peaceful city, with a lot of green spaces, palm trees. And.
A nice and wealthy seafront. Streets well tarred (better than.
Tamatave) and as Wolferine wrote, the girls are much more dark skinned.
Than in Tamatave. I did not see any with a pale color.
I started by a nap, following my early wake up; then a walking tour; then a second nap; then a second walking tour. And when night came, wifi. And "pillow search".
4) Antalaha by night:
It was Saturday night.
From was Eden. It is out of town (as Pandora in Tamatave).
Guides and web tourism info, I understood that "the" disco of Antalaha.
At this occasion I discovered the big problem of Antalaha by night: very few taxis or tuk- tuk by night.
And even the best hotel in town has not the ability to get one by phone!
The guy of Hazovola, suggested I wait at the corner nearby in darkness and.
With quite no people. So I did. In 15 mn, I saw 3 taxis, all going in.
The wrong direction with customers on board. I asked one if Eden was.
Opened: he said yes.
Finally, I get a tuk tuk going in the good direction, went to Eden but it was closed!
It seems more a cabaret / concert place (cabaret with a local artist is announced for next week end.) than a nightclub.
The tuk tuk came back, I asked him which disco was in town. It seems 2 or 3 are active during week ends.
The best known seems to be the one he led me: Bamboula.
But around 10 pm it was still closed.
I went back by foot in the night to my hotel, and came back always by 10 mn foot around 11.30. As no taxi or tuk tuk.
5) Bamboula disco and my loving pillow:
Entry fee: 3000 AR.
Nice Malagasy music and atmosphere in Bamboula. About 150 people dancing or drinking. I was the only white face! They have a funny game, not seen before: between dancing sessions, the DJ launches an auction of one.
Bottle of whisky+one grilled chicken (!) At first I thought that the.

Thanks Tije. Anthala was a dream when John Palmer initially discover it, calm with action ready to be eaten. Years past and the village become commercial with some traffic. But worst, somehow the quality of the girls become a disaster. Still easy to get.
The Volberin had a mix feeling as clearly the life span of that town as the next Morandava is over.
New places are needed to be discover and thank you for trying Andapa. I believe I will try some new villages in the south next year hope that Mada still got it.

MAJUNGA is a "hot" city for the temperatures as for girls. Nice promenade along the sea where the girls walk on sunset as in Pattaya.
Toliara has thin nice girls, but the south of the island, poorest area, is the less safe as far as personal safety is concerned.
MORONDAVA is small place with mongering opportunities. Nice baobab alley, in wonderful countryside, about 10 km far, which is a must for MADA.
My preferred city for mongering is TAMATAVE (cf my posts): the place where I found the highest number of semi-pro, very opened and cool minded. Of course the city is not attractive, except when you have your own habbits.
But when you have hired your sweetie in town, you can hire a taxi (30 E) to go spending several days in FOULPOINTE where there is a nice lagoon, nice beach, and good hotel with swimming pool.
ANTANANARIVO is with a lot of pros and occasionally semi-pros (not to talk of hordes of SW as from 5 pm) . But highly polluted and crowdy city.

Antalaha girls will loss any beauty contents compare to any other city. But they know how to fuck. Very few girls, no clubs manly street mongering. (Although some clubs out of town but the same girls scrolling the street at daytime).
As any port city Tamatave girls in bars are hard core no for the average monger cup of tea. Also a depressing city to stay.

For a first trip in Mada, I would not suggest antalaha, it is a too provincial small town.
The choice might be between Tamatave, Majunga and Tulear.
Even if i went to Andapa, i do not think that exploring smaller place is the best approach.
Especially, I suggest Donomar to be very careful if he wants to explore villages of the south: it is the typical area of "dahalos" (zebu stealers meaning professional thieves) and a foreigner will be easily completely stolen of all his belongings in such areas.
For info about 20 people were killed last week in a village 10 km from Tulear following army assault against "dahalos" .
In fact girls from "La Brousse" we all like come to the cities. And they have freedom there. Students come also to cities to get additional money.
So, it is less the city than the choice of girl which is critical.
In Tamatave if you hire girls from La Terrasse or queen's night club. Sure you will get only pros.
If you are more selective and go to Pandora night club (only on Friday and Saturday), or look at in streets or shops, and be selective on the attitude, makeup, clothes. You will get semi pros and have wonderful experience.
Tamatave is unattractive if you do not know the places to go. Swimming pool of Miramar, near the beach and in front of the lycee where you can find sweeties of 18/19 with their books; relax beach nearby; Ocean 501 with excellent food on the beach etc.
But all that is out of town center (but 5000 ar by Cyclopousse: i. E less than 2 e).
I confess I spent one month in Pattaya last July and concluded that for my taste Mada remains my N°1.
I can also fully understand that if the shape of girls in N°1 criteria, Kenya is probably a must. But the girls seem easily indicative inducing safety problems I do not like.

Asmara near Sakamanga seems to close periodically, but was open last time I was in Tana, late 2014, and I always stop in to check the girls on some afternoon. Lately I haven't been interested in any girls I saw there, so no new experiences since that last post. Really I think it is only worth it for the afternoon incall. You can find a great girl at Glacier by 8 pm, or wait till midnight for the action to start at Manson or any discotheque. Then you get a girl for the entire night for AR 40-50,000.

Internal flights in Mada are expensive like fire, especially if you came with company other then Air Mad. So to taste several cities / towns including flights will cost you much higher then a week with supermodels in Kampala.
So Mada is a bad option? Not at all, its one of my first in the list since I do like the charm, atmosphere, adventurous feeling and the food. One more critical advantage is that Mada girls really enjoy sex, no fake, no running home no mechanical sex. This is it!

It is the reason for which, if you come from Europe, the deal is to fly from PARIS to Tamatave or Nosy Be with just a transit in reunion with Air Austral.
In that case, you will be directly on spot for roughly the same cost than the Paris-Tana flight with Air France.
(Air Austral mentions also possibility to Majunga, but much more costly as you will have a second transit in Mayotte).
But it is clear that charm, atmosphere, adventurous feeling are invaluable. Completely different from Thai sex industry atmosphere.
Semi-pros really enjoy sex and they tell you they like it with an incredible naive behavior.

Has anyone been to Fort Dauphin? It never gets a mention here. The guidebooks say it's pretty enough. I know there's a mine there and wonder if that makes it lively or just inflates the prices. Or both, maybe.

Neddy.I did pay 320.000 MGA one way. That's about 130 Eu one way 8 months ago. The ticket I bought at their office at Pl Independence and I did use the MadAir discount for coming in with MadAir. How much you paid in MGA? The rate is down to 1 EU = 3600 MGA. The lowest I ever experienced.
The comment by the minister is meant to change the price structure in future. Not yesterday.

I would exclude NOSY. BE: too many tourists with girls polluted by tourists. Bad story (foreigner burnt on the beach. Cf post. Etc.
A lot of girls, mainly pros, in DIEGO (ANTSIRANANA). Interesting colonial architecture, nice surroundings.
MAJUNGA is a "hot" city for the temperatures as for girls. Nice promenade along the sea where the girls walk on sunset as in Pattaya.
Toliara has thin nice girls, but the south of the island, poorest area, is the less safe as far as personal safety is concerned.
MORONDAVA is small place with mongering opportunities. Nice baobab alley, in wonderful countryside, about 10 km far, which is a must for MADA.

After 4 times Mtwapa, Kenya it was time for me to explore new venues. Friends of mine, black booty lovers like me, recommended Mada. I worked through the forum pages.
What put me off most times, were the expensive and cumbersome flights. To Nairobi I get always something in the region of 500 euros return. Well I settled for Air France s reasonable offer Venice-Paris-Tana return for 769 euros.
I arrived in Tana early morning with AF around 2 oclock in the morning, cleared Immigration hassle free 47 euros for 90 days visa on arrival.
What struck me, deepest provincial airport 6 international flights a DAY. Wow how retro. The taxi took me through barely lit, deserted streets, stray dogs etc. To my hotel. Relais de Normandie, 46500 AR a night, close to the train station.
The next morning I slept in, took a hearty breakfast 8000 AR in the hotel, recommended, then went to explore Tana on foot, bought orange sim card and some credit, and went looking for the famous glacier, which is now owned by chinese.
Around 11 in the morning there were already a few WGs around, although more high mileage types, not to my liking. Took a light lunch and went to check flights to Tulear at the air MAD head office. OMG you have to pull waiting numbers, I had about 50 people in front of me, worse than at the dentists.
I left went to a nearby travel agent, no waiting time and booked Tana-Tulear for 197 euros. I can tell you that for fucking I spent the least amount in Mada, the most for airfares, followed by restaurant bills, accommodation, the chicas were the cheapest.
In the evening I went looking for some nice chica to spend the night with. The SWs looked actually quite nice, but the light was bad, so I pulled a nice looking rasta chica, top body from Glacier.
She was actually from Ifaty. Very sweet personality, Mada chicas don't like to give BJs sometimes apparently they claim fady. Good standard fuck, doggy, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl missio.
These were the standards I encountered in Mada in general, offered 50000 AR in the morning, settled for 60000 AR. Good atmosphaere in Glacier, local band playing up, some dingy french expat types hanging about, love the atmosphaere.

As I was still recovering from the flight, I didn't take a chica, so I did not check out the night life, which starts unfortunately very late around 2300 hrs.
I didn't make it to caveau or LE indra. Watch out 2 germans told me they were fleeced outside indra for not having ids 10000 AR.
Taxi in city centre is 5000 AR only. You can get by with basic french, although it limits your experience with the chicas, as you cannot converse with them, that said, there is plenty which speak only a few words french and only malgache.
I didn't wine and dine my chicas, I keep strictly to business, jiggy jiggy and then kick out in the morning, saves a lot of money.
I spent 3 days in Tana, more than enough, in relation it is expensive, the most I spent on the excellent restaurants.

As you say its expensive: would you mind to let us now prices now for a decent dinner and the hotels? If the prices didn't skyrocket since 6 months ago, then it should be at the moment an absolute deal with the low MGA against the EU. Not long ago you got 2900 - now its about 3300.
Did you pay the ticket in EU or did they hike up the price in MGA. Despite their promise to lower domestic fares of 20%.
Take away the flight, which you got for 750 EU which is an excellent deal, the other items are cheaper then in other monger countries like Thailand or Philipines.
None of the girls will come at you. They will wait until you make the first move. Take your time to look if you see anyone that pleases you.

In general about Air Mada, the cost of flight is the least of the problem. More of an issue is availability. If you enter the country on Air Mada looking to get the domestic discount, you run the risk of sold out, no seats. So, unless you are staying for extended time, and intend to fly all over the country, don't plan your itinerary around discounts. And, if they lower costs, it will probably mean even more sold out flights. Other notes: the Air Mada discount not available on route Tulear to Tana. Last December, we purchased from Mad Travel agency in Tulear a business class (seat in last two rows, wow) ticket cheaper than Air Mada price. Another thing, we saw someone remark upon the wait recently at Air Mada office on Independence Ave in Tana. I'm in town this moment and with the strike its been an all-day wait. But never a problem: give the door guard 2000 ariary and he will slip you a low number, the wait is 5 or 10 minutes. All the vazaha sitting there waiting, like Neddy they haven't figured this out, or are too cheap.
Vicinity Ave. Independence: For restaurant, the best one for cost and quality is hotel des Artistes (near to LE glacier). Excellent cuisine. Cost maybe max 15 euro for 2 course and beer. Also has rooms that are ok and probably pretty cheap, as their clientele predominantly middle age amis. Restaurant LE Gare serves up tourist rubbish grub in comparison. Hotel Fort de France very good for dejeuner, fixed price 20000 ariary.
As for LE Glacier, everyone knows. A couple visits there each trip to try any new, young ones that turn up, then afterwards Manson or the bars in that area. On Ave. Independence, in front of Pizza Gastronomy is ground zero for street scene: girls line up and Malagasy guys in their SUVs do the slow cruise inspection / selection. Better to shop here than at random street encountering elsewhere. You can also sit outside at table, have beer and see what turns up. Same quality as inside Glacier with often less mileage and at half the cost.

In general about Air Mada, the cost of flight is the least of the problem. More of an issue is availability.As from 24th July most of the domestic flights are operating again. But its a "flexible" schedule. The international flights are apparently on time. September / October fares about 800 EU rtn fm Paris. MGA on 3300 for the Euro.
And to answer the Baron: I have seen so many tour groups, hurried from one park to another, staying in remote hotels, no chance to explore the beauties of that island on your own. ST-hotels are unknown in Mada. The only area for local short time is around Sole Hotel in Tana: the SW's there have their mattresses in the staircase of the houses there. Be brave. Perhaps the pros at Glacier may also know. But at the hotels where you will stay with the group. Unlikely.

Back from Mada after 20 days around the country.
The last week in Nosy Be I could manage to try a couple of local beauties.
I was travelling with a tourist group, but I found few hours by myself.
We were staying close to Ambatolaoka, 10 km west of Hell Ville. Nice spot, better than the main city. Restaurants and some pubs / disco. I went walking daytime on the beach and was approached and offered massage, which actually was the real thing.
One time we went to a small hotel (40,000 AR / 13 euros for few hours) and another time to a local house at no charge, not so clean but good enough.
The sweeties are quite young and willing to please, nice BBBJ, DATY, FK etc. They asked how much I want to pay and I offered 20 euros. Ok, I know it is too much for the level I can read here for other places, but here there are so many tourists and after all I did not want to bargain as I did not have many opportunities and liked to make them happy. You already know that you offered without pressure Pattaya prices. 20 EU is now 75.000 MGA. Everywhere in the world, girls learning fast what they can get. If the regular monger goes back and gives the usual 20.000 MGA for a short time and perhaps 40.000 for overnight, they may refuse. The price-spiral starts. Or worse. Bar owners smell the big business and will start their pimping business for the naive mongers. Controlling and selling them the girl but keeping 50 or 60% of the money just because the mongers don't know otherwise. However, that is not YET happening in Mada.
Nosy Be is not the typical Mada. The country is still big with many other beaches and middle-sized towns, where "fair l'amour" is offered for mutual pleasure and not only for money.

True?Well I have had no contact with the police other than to buy one ticket for the upcoming policeman's Ball (a classic that eh?) for 15,000 AriAri about 6 euros.

They had to drain it by putting a tube through my belly under ultrasound but without anaesthetics (so that they could tell if the tube punctured the wrong organ like the lungs!) Worst time in my whole life. The hospital in Germany said they only had two cases per year of amaebic abscess. The alternative to an amaebic abcess given my symtoms was fox tapeworm, which is deadly, so in a sense I was glad it was only amoebas.
From then on whenever I visit Africa I take a course of Metronidazole (Flagyl etc.) upon my return. As I understand you can catch ameobas by licking a girl's ass.
Africa is the continent of dangerous parasites. I also buy Zentel (Albendazole) which takes care of some other possible parasites. Bao Bar opened weekends only and everybody in town will be there (its like the disco in Tamatave only not as flashy). A negative about this town is it is full of regular tourists stopping for one or two nights whilst they visit some national park and see Baobobs. Some girls stroll the streets (at center near Hotel Vezo) giving out cards to Vazaha offering massages (FS obviously). On the beach, of course girls can be be picked up and there are bungalows direct access to beach. But the beach is polluted and little to do, which is fine to relax, except hotels full of tourist and not the crowd to which we relate. Going from here to Tulear sounded brutal, so we flew. But flight once a week only and this is not a place you want to get stuck in for too long.

Some are waiting; you need to look around and talk to people. We got a nice 4 wd SUV for 100,000 for two of us. Was 6. 5 hours with stop for lunch. The road was good to Ambilobe, and we made good time. After that, for the rest of the way the road was terrible -- destroyed, potholed completely, very slow-going and construction in progress. Cannot imagine what this ride would be like in a taxi brousse. To go Diego to Nosy Be, there is an agency with a fleet of SUV's located next to Hotel Victoria. Quoted price 370,000 (whether for one or 4 passengers same price). It is too bad about the flight situation. Also, flying from Paris, Air Mada was blacklisted from Europe (temporarily, they say) with Air Austral operating the route.

Although my last trip was cut short due to my health problem to 2 weeks only. Those 2 weeks were again for me outstanding.
Took AirFrance, cheap ticket, older plane, but ok. Except they did not allow to change my return flight for an health-emergency but asked me to buy a one way for 1100 EU with the argument my insurance will pay it. Inconsiderate. F*k them. Got a 400 EU one way ticket back from Air Seychelles. In future my airline of choice: new planes, great service!
Tana only one night. The bars there are for Tom, Dick and Harry. The girls are hard core and well used. Not my preference.
Took a bus to Tamatave by a company named Cotisse: reserved seats, on time, save driver. They have their big terminal at the taxi brousse area. Cab drivers know them. But you must go there a day before to make a reservation.
Hotel: The Fragiapani is an ok place if you like to stay in town for 40.000 MGA. I found the Hotel Ocean 501: its on the road to the airport very near to the weekend disco Pandora. Location spot on the beach, nice rooms with a big rainshower. Good for 2. Prices start from 60.000 MGA. WiFi only at the restaurant. The restaurant is French influenced, with nice sitting in the garden facing the beach. A meal between 10 to 15.000 MGA. Girls like to dine and wine there with you.
As said: I m not a disco-guy. My hunting ground are dating sites, for Mada its Badoo or Tonga Soa. Got girls really communicating with me more then I could handle in the short time. I wonder, I had the worst s h I t s in my life in Mangily. Went to the local Health Clinic. They gave me antibiotics. I was down a couple of weeks, when I returned I had it checked.
Came out negative, but they didn't check for Amoeba. I know the nasties. I had them once in Damascus. You can catch them by eating vegetables which are fertilised by human.
I don't eat anything which grows on the ground. Green peppers and tomatoes are ok as they grow on bushes. Green salad or anything which grows on the ground I avoid. Also certain spices.
An old Africa hand told me, make an Antibiotics cure every 6 months, any Broadband antibiotics like ciprofloxacine or azithromycine. Against the s h I t s the famous Colicalm helped a bit.
It actually contains Opium powder. LOL. I wonder now if I should have another checkup.
Or just get Metronidazole. In Africa no problem, but here in Austria the pharmacists are worse, without prescription I don't get anything here.

Tulear was your first choice in the whole Madagascar. (as you have said).

Have FunDear DonOmar, sadly Tulear it's not my first choice anymore for a few reasons:
Mahajanga has more girls available and quality is nearly the same (but Tulear still number one for girl's attitude), safer than Tulear, closer and easier to reach from Tana'.
And a nice "promenade" on the seafront in the late afternoon or early evening.
However. Spots to pick up:
Mahajanga: Ravinala discobar (firs choice in the city), near the port, every night but specially Friday.
Shakira club in the city center: It's a real disco. Some but not all the girls you can find before on Ravinala. Extremely hot temperature, no air con and few fans.
Cotton club: next to Shakira. Good to relax and refresh after Shakira. Drinks more expensive.
This time I didn't try San Antonio, near the sea.
On the promenade on the seafront: quite a few girls waiting to be picked up. Don't be shy. Men have to make the first effort.
Places to eat: LE guest: between the seafront and the city center; good food (specially Pizza), nice waitresses, friendly owner and good ambiance.

Safety: very good in Mahajanga. There is police around also in the night time and private guards also on the bars near the port. I felt real safe.

Excursions: don't lose the beach in the weekend specially Sunday. Have to hire a taxi for 10-15.000 AR (there are also public transports). Ambiance real Gasy and worth a visit.
Prices fro girls: 30-40.000 AR.
Just few words on Tana where there are already a lot of reports. From 9 pm LE Glacier like usual. Good for me because I don't like to stay out too late in the night.
Quality is usual low or average but can find few gems most of the times. Later, bar Manson: sure the best in Tana. Girls from all Mada so you can find the different body style tribes.
Safety: usually I had no problem, but hire a taxi in the night and be careful in the markets on the daytime specially of the young kids.
Prices: between 40 and 80.000 AR but I never paid more than 50.000.
Will follow updates on Tulear and Tamatave.
Tulear still the hottest girls in Mada.
Places to pick up: at the moment the historic Zaza is closed for renovation so there is Tam Tam disco, nice place, clean, a few gems some of real good quality.
Close to Zaza. Tata Djembe disco: ambiance Gasy 100%, is small, smelly and girls ratio not so good but girls are not too much in the business, freelancers available 100%.
All the ears between Tam Tam and tata Djembe. Grils ratio no good but very cheap drinks to get warm before clubs.

Excursions: Ifaty-Mangily: worth a visit a few days. Nice sea, good food, pick up points not so crowded but have 2 disco. Bars; otherwise on the beach on the daytime.
Anakao: better beach and sea than Ifaty-Mangily but nothing to do in the nighttime; nearly no chance to pick up, but good if you don't go alone.
Transports: flight from Tana or 22 hours Taxi brousse. Nothing in the middle.
Prices: 30.000 AR is more than enough. Just in tam Tam they can try more.
Tamatave: girls more aggressive than Tulear and Mahajanga. But not annoying, they are just not scared to make the first step. Quality, from my point of view is lower but still OK.
Place to pick up: near the port from the late afternoon and in the bars next to. Quality low but few gems. LE Neptune on the seafront: girls pro.
LE Pandora, but just Friday and Saturday: full of freelancers. I had good experiences over there. I never tried the club: V. I. P. , should do next time.
Other pick up point is the bar restaurant la Terrasse: good to go early evening, but nearly all day there is somebody waiting for you.
Safety: Pouzze-pouzze are annoying. Avoid them in the nighttime and hire a taxi.
Restaurants: LE bateau ivre for the seafood, the Piment banane but I enjoyed a lot la Veranda. And of course la Terrasse specially to check some chicks.
Excursions: One hour taxi brousse from the city there is Foulpointe, a village on the sea that is popular with people from Tamatave but during holidays also from Tana.
There is a disco and girls are smiling but I've been just in daytime. I think worth a longer visit specially in the weekend or high season.
Transport: Sure Cotisse service. They leave all the time from Tana and from Tamatave. Good price and "just" 7 hours drive.
Prices: 30-40.000 AR.

Usually girls leave in the morning if you don't want to kick them out before. Sometimes they are happy to stay with you even longer.
Usually I discuss price in front just with girls that are clearly pro. Specially in Tana', or if I get 2 girls at the same time. Otherwise, specially freelancers, they accept what you give them.

Back in Mada for several weeks.
I considered to stay one month in Tulear area, but I read in L Express Mada that it seemed very unsecured. With the police renting weapons to bandits! I concluded it was too much!
In fact it was exaggerated and the situation seems the same than in other cities of Mada. I had confirmation from two guys I just met on their way back to Europe who had spent one wonderful month.
So to explain why I finally had a three nights transit in Antanarivo instead of one night, to get finally a flight to Sambava (Antalaha airport is closed because of bad quality of the runway) and I go back to Vanila coast where I had wonderful time in 2014 (cf my posts). I only hope to have not too much rain!
But I decided not to sleep in city center of TANA too polluted for my health.
I wanted to stay in Ivato, but most hotels are either too expansive or far from the main road where you find taxis to go in town when needed. (45 mn 20/30 000 AR one way).
I found through booking.com a good place I recommend, on the road but with rooms garden side: Manga guest house. (100 000 AR + breakfast 8 000 AR).
The problem is that there is no girls bars in this area.
So if you want a girl you will have to go in town to rent temporarily a room there or have extensive taxi costs for the girl if she agrees to come for the night.
An alternative is massage parlors.
One is advertising much: Charmelle Massage (about 500 m from Manga on the road to TANA) . From outside I found it dirty place.
So I opted for another: Alyssia Massage (about 100 m from Manga on the road to TANA), more typical Asian style brothel house.
Wide clean room for 20 000 AR, 60 mn with "standard massage". Meaning of course, you negotiate in room for more.
About 6 girls on a Saturday afternoon, choose one.
I suggested 30 000 AR, (thinking 50 000 AR) but she asked for 80 000 AR.
Looked expansive, but I know it is the standard of massage parlors to reach at least 100 000 AR. I also agreed as she did not ask for any payment before (even the 20 000 AR for room).
Accordingly I was not disappointed: no hassle to finish, choice of positions, especially liked her tits (no baby) to be malaxed. Enjoyed 45 mn.
Finally a good option and cheaper than going to town through traffic jams and spend more maybe for less!

Didn't know there were hotels which weren't girl-friendly in Madagascar.I confirm: all hotels are GF with "la carte".
Anjara: not far from the center (70 000 AR) . My main complaint is outside dogs barking during the night.
Flamboyant: cheaper (55 000 AR) but lower standard even if partly modernized. And street noise in the morning.
MIiramar: excellent for its swimming pool on daytime, in front of main lyce (Rabemananjary) - giving some opportunities of lycennes 18/19 in classe de premiere or terminal, but not to sleep there: expansive (80 000 AR) for bungalows pretty old with meager renovation. And not near the main road, so at night dependent upon night taxis, as far away from the center. Food is good. Close of the beach to walk on.
La Veranda is presently in upgrade range my best choice (90 000 AR) but high standard of amenities. Quiet but in the very center. 2 mn from La Terrase, 2 mn of Beach street and its all day, evening, night opportunities, 7 mn by foot from Queen's or Neptune, close of good restaurant L'affiche And highly reputed restaurant with style service of La Veranda.

-only 8 rooms, so often fully booked, and most expansive rooms (1st floor: 70000 AR) have toilets just separated from the room, with no window or air.

I am presently back for one week in Antalaha, after a little week in Sambava and previously another little week in Antalaha.
My reports will come in several weeks, to upload pictures of girls with each report.

In Antalaha : you go to the beach side and you make your choice, especially on Sunday. Or you walk in the main street. You ask the girl who pleases you her phone number. She gives it. And it is already as if she was in your bed.
In Sambava, I walked (with some success near taxi-brousse station and markets) but it is much more erratic.
In Antalaha , you give 20 000 AR for ST or even LT, and the girl does not even look, she is happy. I even had pro proposal for 10 000 AR.
In Sambava, even ST, most girls semi- pro will ask for 30 000 AR. When you give them 20 000 AR they request more. Only freebies will accept 20 000 AR.

In Sambava, you have several excellent hotels on the pleasant beach. But with no swimming, swimming only in Antalaha- for 70 000 AR to 100 000 AR with A/C (cheaper with fan).
Carrefour (the best in my opinion), Las Palmas (cheaper but also excellent) , Villa Scheridane, Orchidea beach (to be avoided in consideration of above mentioned, as dark rooms, dogs, average cooking).
In Antalaha the choice is very limited: HAZEVOLA (80 000 AR with aircond and breakfast) (good but cf my problems with receptionist) or Ocean Momo tremendously expansive (111 500 AR) for a bungalow (cf report to come, I stayed in both).
In Sambava, (it is true I did not try hotels dinners) you have quite no decent restaurant. The most decent is Mimi resto, but dull decoration. The Chinese restaurant (LIN) has no menu (only soup and noodles) , there is a restaurant de L'Ocean, with delestage / candles every evening. And it took me one hour to have an average chicken leg with rough potatoes. So try hotel food upon request.
In Antalaha, you have good Gargotte Jannick (Chez Momo, the Swiss guy and his Malagasy wife who opened now a paillote on the beach with good brochettes) and since July 2015 in the center CAP EST owned by a Frenchman from Alsace with his Malagasy wife from France. Moreover remains a decent Chinese restaurant: Lotus the'OR; bars on the main street with some food: Cz Joyce, Florida. Good places to give an appointment to girls or look fish passing by to hire (no equivalent on this long long street of Sambava).
So is my comparative contribution!

From the mongering perspective sambava is dead. Its also remain unchanged for many years, no development no progress and hard to find girls.
Anthala became busy town. Limited hotels and less quality looking girls. However girls will jump into. Bed instantly.
I believe both can not justify anymore the effort to. Fly there.
Don't forget that you can stay in anthala and rent an appartment. In fact there is a tall Indian girl that that hangs around and look for a costomer for a private unit in her house.
The ability to get girls bcoz you are white is disappearing in most countries even in Africa.

I believe both can not justify anymore the effort to fly there.There are girls to find in Sambava -- on the beach near Orchidea. And walking the main road just after dark. Sunday nights there is place on the beach with music, food, beer. One disco weekends only, starts late, near Hotel Carrefour. With a beautiful beach almost no one on it (except Sunday late afternoons and ftes), in Sambava there is nothing to do -- Nothing -- except to relax and take things very slow. With flights more expensive now, its not a good destination for a short trip, but if you're looking for quiet place for a month or more then Sambava is OK. The only thing is: electricity and internet is not always reliable. And there are no restaurants except at hotels -- Carrefour is best. Meet other expats at Villa Scheridane. Look the tripadvisor review of the Villa, photo of girl in red dress (Sonia) for example. If you want to cross the lagoon and go a couple kilometers north of town, many girls to choose from, but mostly are speaking Malagasy only.
Sadly at my last trip my 200 x-rated pics on my SD card got corrupted and even a pro-company was unable to restore them. Here some tourist fotos:

I found girls in both places from Tonga Soa as well by walking the roads or beach. The prices TdJ was mentioning are correct. The excitement is priceless!

"Manakara is the capital of the Antemoro people, who are mainly of Islamic origin, what explains the number of mosques in such small port city. Anakara people have kept "Sorabe", sacred texts, in Arabic words. Those texts remind of Antemoro history, astrology and some Coran verses".
Would not consider this environment as easy to have fun.

Most girls in Mada not only accept BB, but very often ask for it.

So, with girls who " look" safe (not typical pros) and we may wish as regular a certain time, to ask her to do a VIH self test brought in luggages can be an interesting option.
I brought one with me this time, and I had no problem to have it done by a regular who was too happy to enjoy more.
First time I used it, but very easy, with clear explanations and reliability mentioned.

We both sit in the same boat of damage control. Travelling in Mada is very time consuming if cheap by use taxi brousse or expensive if you use private cars and planes. We both want to make the most out of our trip. By that we collect as many infos as possible. And then decide if the trip is worth the hassle.
I won't go there but plan the Morondava. Morombe. Toliara trail on a moto this September.

I won't go there but plan the Morondava. Morombe. Toliara trail on a moto this September.Last year I did the vanila coast but shorten my trip to 10 days instead of a month. Both quality and quantity was a disappointment.
Morandava was a failure two years ago as it look like a tourist town. At least the beach area. No worthy ladies.
As I have said. What next? Put more money and got a trip that doesn't worth it.
Things become more complex now not only in Mada.
