was in murep001 fro the last 4-5 days. in general things were quiet as it was the run up to ramadam. for example the night club was closed as it was the run up tothe festival.

i was in murep001 at the tail end of last year (dec 2011) and wanted to pass on my experiences at the safari pub at the hyatt.

had two punts there, one of which was good and the other very good. both were, of course, prc. the first was with a regular who sat at the bar and was clearly well-known. took her back to the hotel and had a good, full service, punt for or100 (i didn't negotiate). the other was hanging around outside when i left. she was very good. or150 for an overnight (again i didn't negotiate) and was full service. unfortunately i omitted to get her number for a follow-up.

i have recently (jan 2012) realised that the phillys hang around on the steps down to the car park so they are there for some variety but i haven't tried them yet.

Golden Tulip (I stopped in there last week). Is now totally dead. And even more horrible than ever. There are 2 other clubs / Taxi bars on the ground level. I did not go in, it still looks to be a very local drinking bar.

Non- Asian Women: Err there are some African "girls". Who appear from time to time, usually claiming to be Ethopian; Whilst they look better that the Chinese girls. Their prices are higher also. They ask for 100OR (Aprox 260 US). I'm not sure what you could "haggle" them down to. The coloured girls are very popular with the locals. So your chances of a bargain may be limited.

it is possible to pick up arab speaking girls in most of the arab night clubs that are operating in various hotels in murep001.

all it requires is little arabic language and patience to talk to the girls and you can take them to your hotel.

i have been staying here for close to 6 months and its been take your pick kind of thing.

the going rate is high if you try to pick them up at 12 or 12. 30 am but as the time passes by it falls.

it starts at 100 omr and comes down to 50 omr as time passes and the clubs come to a stop at 3 am.

this info is for picking arab speaking girls. they could be from morocco or any other country in this region.

but as always you can get the chinese on the street at various locations after 7 pm depending on how much you like to spend.

the service is also better if you are a regular with the chinese.

During the first week of November, the visits to these night clubs proved fruitful on 2 counts.

One I was able to strike a deal and second the deal on completion lead to beneficial contacts.

The deal was a bit costly at 100 OMR with a Moroccan gal but the encounter led to additional contacts and better access.

The better access resulted in price reduction as the next deal costed only 50 OMR.

My best advise who know a bit of Arabic is to present themselves better and move in a courteous manner as I have often seen these gals ignore even wealthy locals and rich arabs if the demeanor is not acceptable to them.

As Usual me being a Indian it was tough to break through but now feel that everything is possible.

just a little update for those traveling or wandering around murep001. live bands are gone from the bars, due the misplaced notion they were bad for tourism. so the music is strictly recorded, with djs at safari (hyatt) and the bar at the intercon.

and the opportunities at safari are really the best they've been in 3 years; there seems to be a higher concentration of ladies, and a slightly better mix, with chinese still predominant, but a few africans and thai / filipina there on the busier nights. on a recent thursday night, just for grins, i made a count: 12 to 15 ladies for sure, and maybe a few semi-pros mixed in who are not so obvious.

i recently passed by murep001 and visited the safari pub at the grand hyatt for 2 consecutive weekday nights. arriving at 9:30pm the first night, i was a bit surprised about the high number of omani men in the bar, which made approximately 2/3 of all male guests. there were only 5-6 chinese girls at that time, most of them in their 30s and not too attractive. i sat down at a table and was soon approached by a taiwanese girl in her early 30s, who looked ok and appeared nice. we talked for a while and agreed on 80 omr for the whole night plus tips if her performance would be good. her original asking price was 150 omr for the night, which she soon lowered to 100 omr. i was willing to pay 100 eur if she would treat me well and leave around 11-12am as agreed.

stopped in murep001 for a couple days and decided to check the fili scene. apparently the only place to go is the safari bar at the grand hyatt so went around 1030. cost five riyals to enter and does not include a drink.

mostly a sausage fest but there was a handful of filis and probably 10 prc. the filis were ok and a couple of the prc were fairly attractive. the bar filled up by 1130 with more filis and what looked like a few eastern euro chicks but maybe they were just hotel guests. started chatting with a bubbly fili that is, like most of them, working on their dubai visa. she offered 60 riyal, which was lower than i expected, so didn't even bother haggling.

Typically, it is frowned but you would not have any problems to check in as couple.

The Visa on Arrival is mainly for Managers and professionals like Engineers, doctors etc.Shiel, thanks so much for your comprehensive reply. I will investigate the GCC resident visa further. Her Bahrain resident card doesn't give her occupation. The Bahrain work permit does state the company she works for and her occupation.

I would appreciate feedback from others if anyone has any direct experience with getting a mid-30's lady a GCC resident visa for Oman.

After an afternoon recce mission, I walked back to the SW area at night. An ISG report suggested SWs paraded outside the Oman Bowling Centre. TripAdvisor reports for the Hotel Muscat Holiday complained about the prostitutes outside. But after 10 PM on a Thursday evening, there wasn't a single girl to be seen. Spending some time in Oman and giving an update on some general stuff. Went to Safari in Grand Hyatt (entry 5 OMR if you're not staying there) about 8:30 on a Thursday and confirm an earlier report: I was swarmed by about 30 WGs, in fact pretty much the whole population of the bar was working. Actually a little disappointing as an experience (I would have liked to have had at least a little peace for a drink and a look around!) and quality mostly 1 to 3/10; maybe the crowd and the WG quality improves later in the evening but I was too tired for a late one. In general, if there is a number listed in the profile, it's a Whatsapp number and the woman has something to offer. I contacted a woman on there today, chatted for a while and set up a meet. When I got to the place and met her, it was obvious the info. And photos were fake. The girl was real and ready to go, but she was nothing like presented. I explained I wasn't interested and said so. She wasn't happy at all and tried to change me for "wasting" her time, but I said no and left. Fake photos = nothing from me. I stayed at the Intercontinental mostly because I read there was some action to be had there. Turned out, there was very little. The World Cup was going on so the pub in the lobby was packed, but not with working girls. One night after going out for a late dinner with friends I stopped in the pub and met two Thai girls who were working. They were ok, maybe 5-6's, and were really friendly but I was totally exhausted and passed. I got the number of the prettier one but never followed up as I did a MR Thai girl the next night. After leaving the Hyatt there were drivers right in front of the bar and they wanted 7 to go back to the Intercon. I was tired and in no mood to bargain so I said 5 and they said no. Lesson learned here is get the taxis where the general public is, not from in front of hotels.

My impression of Oman is it was my favorite country of the trip when not considering the girl scene. It's really naturally beautiful and different from the UAE cities or Doha. But if meeting girls is a high priority, then it's not the place to go although there is fun to be had.

This is a few years old but I thought it would be worth sharing if only for the entertainment value. Since I last visited, it appears the massage places have reopened, so there might be more and better options now. When I was there, I only found two options. The easiest first: the hotel bar at the Grand Hyatt Muscat has Chinese hookers hanging out in the evenings. I was always there for work so I never partook, but they're there. Mostly middle aged ladies, but all of them (that I saw) were in decent shape. One thing to know. If you take one home, you've got to walk through the hotel with her and it's going to be awkward. Given how carefully watched the hotel is, I think there is a good chance you could be hassled by the front desk.

The next and only option that I could find is to talk to a taxi driver. Oman is a police state. It's tightly controlled and highly surveilled by the government, but there is fun to be had. I was able to visit several places with a friendly cab driver I found. He seemed to know a ton of different places. Many of the ones we visited were in crummy apartment buildings and were closed, but a few were open. None of them had signs or were marked, so you really need a guide. Well, the two that were the easiest did have signs. One was marketed as a massage place and they had Moroccan women, and one was a beauty salon that had a Chinese lady inside. I was really excited about the Moroccan place but when I went in only two girls were working and a couple of guys were waiting. When it was my turn a late twenties Moroccan woman walked out and gestured to me. She wasn't fat but she wasn't thin and she seemed like she might have a bad attitude, so I asked if I could meet the other girl. I was right about the attitude because when I asked, she freaked out on me and started yelling in Arabic. That was my cue to leave. Afterwards my friendly taxi driver took me to a beauty salon that was closed for the evening. He made a phone call and a very attractive, younger (20's) Chinese woman walked out. She took me inside, offered me tea, then we headed to the back room. Full service was on offer but I didn't partake because she didn't seem very into it. I opted for a lackluster massage and a CBJ. She had a great body though, so I think I ended up in the right spot.

As I mentioned before, Oman is a lovely place but it is a police state, albeit with a seamy underside that might be hard for a gringo to access. In the middle of my drive around town with my driver, we stopped off for some food and parked next to an Omani police van to wait on them to bring out our order. Given what we were up to, this made me nervous. But then I smelled the distinct aroma of marijuana, and it was coming from the police van. I'm not making this up. A few minutes later a light in the van went on and a couple of Saudi guys were sitting inside looking very high (you can identify them by their headdress). They spilled out of the van and horsed around for a bit, laughing and having a great time, then got back in and took off. In a police van. So some of the rules can be bent, just not sure how.

Finally, a word of caution. Depending on your reason for visiting this lovely country, I would like to emphasize again that it is a police state. As in secret police. The next day at work, one of the Omani guys I was visiting (a government official) tried to get me to talk about getting a massage in Oman and shared how much he liked to visit the massage places, but sadly they were all closed down. He emphasized that they were illegal now, which was too bad, but that they were illegal now. I got the message and changed the subject. It's a longer story with more details, but trust me, he was sending a polite and very timely (the next day!) message. It was awkward and a little freaky. This shouldn't be a worry for a casual visitor, but do weigh the risks if you're there for work.

I hope everyone in this forum, as well as across ISG, had a great holiday season and that your mongering adventures in 2023 surpassed those from previous years! May all of you have a safe and enjoyable mongering experience in 2024!

I spent a few days in Oman from late November into early December 2023. I explored Muscat for the first couple of days, and then took several day trips into the countryside to visit forts, castles, and natural scenery. Each of these day trips were many hours with a private male guide, and as you're traveling from one point of interest to the next, you begin sharing experiences, talking about life, and inevitably talking about women. The following are a couple of mongering tidbits that I picked-up from those guides.

First, I was told by one guide that pay-for-play in Muscat could be found at Thai massage places. So, I opened Google Maps on my phone and typed-in "Thai massage. " Sure enough, a multitude a red pins appeared in Google Maps across Muscat. Based on the pictures attached to each of the pins, many of the places looked like legitimate, professional massage businesses. However, some of the pins, especially the ones located near the Grand Mosque, had more explicit pictures and even videos attached to them, with some of the girls looking a bit too good to be true.

Second, a different guide on a different day said that certain Western-style hotels (see the attached picture) were known to be hang-out places for WGs. Those places (based on links sent through WhatsApp), are Dolphin Village Muscat (apparently good on Wednesday), Habana Sports Bar at Grand Hyatt Muscat, and The Edge at Crowne Plaza Muscat (apparently good for sunset viewing).

In both of those mongering tidbits, I didn't get a chance to test the intel that I was provided, as I was simply too tired at the end of each day trip to go exploring for pay-for-play. Hopefully, though, this information will be helpful to at least one of you heading to Oman in the future. For anyone who does use the information provided in this report, please let us all know how things went once you return!

Apparently light action is available, even at the international hotel chains. I was recently in Muscat a few days staying at one of the Marriott Bonvoy properties. I was only in Oman for sightseeing and had absolutely no plans to monger. Visited the hotel spa and noticed the good prices and booked a one-hour massage for 25 OMR, wanting to try out an Arabian massage for the first time.
