Support WSG Charities, increase your charitable giving by 50%!

As you know, the WSGForum comes to you completely free of charge, thanks to the hard work of our webmaster, Jackson. Sites that provide far less entertainment and information charge big bucks for “memberships.”

Some of you may not realize that Jackson is also the moving spirit behind WSGCharities, which was formed for the express purpose of collecting funds to be used to purchase food for hungry children in Argentina.

The website is www.wsgcharities.com.

Between now and November 30th, for each $2 you contribute to WSGCharities, I will kick in an additional dollar, up to the breaking point of my own bank account. Your contributions are 100% tax deductible and totally in the good spirit that our community has.

In order to donate, visit the www.wsgcharities.com, and click on “donations.” After you have sent in your Pay Pal or snail-mail contribution, send me an email (ottograham@hotmail.com) with “I’m a friend of Uncle Otto” in the subject line, with the donation amount listed in the body of your email. And for every two dollars you contribute, I will match it with another dollar.

Thanks!

I posted this in the Table of Contents > Site Administration > Internet Security
thread. But will also post it here. Maybe common sense, but, in case you didn't know:

Just a note about using a non-identifiable e-mail address when registering for wsg. SOMETIMES, not always, but 1 time out of 30-40, when you click on http://www.wsgforum.com/ You will be served up with ANOTHER member's header page (the very top part) as in:
Welcome back 11Bravo. You are currently a Senior Member
If you are a Regular Member, then you don't need to apply for an upgrade to Regular Member. Thanks
Your current membership email address is: xxxxxxxxx
Is your email address active? Have you checked your email recently for WSG Forum messages?

Maybe it has something to do with having the options set to yes for:

As an example, I was just served up with: Member2326's info. I know his e-mail address used to register for the forum, and I know he has 0 messages.

So, use an e-mail address that you don't mind others seeing.

11Bravo,

Thanks for the warning. I haven't seen that problem. However, as you can see by my screen name, I've suddenly become "Big Bob II" after I was upgraded. Not sure if that was a computer glitch or what. But just in case you're wondering, I'm the-mongerer-formerly-known-as-Big-Bob.

Will post here so it maintains it's visibility for awhile.

Article from today's Gulf News, 23 Aug, page 3:

ON VISIT: Tourist fined for carrying obscene CDs
Dubai
A tourist who brought 20 pornographic CDs as gifts for his friends has been fined Dh3,000.

The Dubai Court of First Instance heard that the 31-year-old Briton, S.J., had intended to stay for only one night in Dubai.

He was stopped by customs officers at Dubai International Airport after a flight from Bangkok on July 5, when a collection of CDs was spotted in his luggage.

When he opened his luggage, the CDs were found to be pornographic. The 31-year-old told customs officers he had bought the CDs as gifts for his friends. He allegedly intended to use the CDs for himself rather than distribute them in UAE.

Notice he was stopped at the airport; for those of you who don't know, every bag is x-rayed on arrival. So be careful what you have in your luggage, even if you're just passing through.

From Piper: From today's Gulf News, 23 Aug 2004, page 5:

Dubai : A drunk man who reportedly paid Dh700 for female companionship only to be cheated of the woman's company and the money, ended up with a fine when he tried to report the incident to the police.

The man and the woman were fined Dh1,000 each for drinking alcohol. The woman, A.S., 18, an Uzbek, was sentenced to a month's imprisonment for overstaying her visa and for impersonation.

The Dubai Court of First Instance found the Uzbek guilty of impersonating, overstaying her visa and drinking alcohol.

She was acquitted of giving false information to the authorities when she was questioned.

The man, Y.H., 46, a UAE national, was convicted of drinking alcohol. The general prosecution charged the couple with drinking alcohol, while the visitor was also charged with overstaying and impersonating I.R., 35, another Uzbek visitor.

On May 17, according to police, the national stopped a police patrol as he was leaving a nightclub on Al Nahda Street. He told the patrol he had met the 18-year-old inside the club. He said he had paid her Dh700 after she agreed to spend time with him.

After a fight, she refused to spend time with him or return his money. The woman denied the accusations. They were both taken to the police station on suspicion of drinking alcohol. Blood tests confirmed the suspicion.

11bravo's comments:
Just goes to show Risks of paying in the bar Once paid, you cannot get your money back. Wisdom (or lack thereof) of being discreet
I thought it was arrogant of the idiot to expect to get his money back. And to go to the police? Obviously not the best and the brightest...

WOW how strange, I've brought sexual gifts, Cds, etc. to Dubai and never was stopped. You have to be very discreet and place them separately in your luggage.

One shouldn't pack all your gifts ( Porn ) together in one certain spot of your luggage. That is TOO obvious and would draw attention when your items are X-rayed.

In the airports they have become quite strict with people coming from china carrying DVD's as the streets are now filled with guys selling porn! Its well organized, and the chinese have divided dubai into sectors, where each area has its own 'sales' guy looking after the area, so they dont compete with each other, if they see an outsider trying to start up, thats when police get tip offs, and the story follows in the paper not too long afterwards.

Dubai P4P FAQ se tags: russian, CIS, chinese, african, lebanese, indian, pakistani, girls, SW, WG, cyclone, tgit, york, hotels, apartments, anal, ramadan

Editor: Sporadic, from posts from Sporadic, JSF, myself, and others.

Yes, it's long, so read it. Will answer a LOT of questions.

For hotels / apartments, check the hotel thread under United Arab Emirates.

WHERE
For those coming to Dubai, just remember: CITY
Cyclone
Imperial (Suites)
TGIT (afternoons)
York

These will provide more contacts than you can ever use.

Ladies can also be sometimes be found in any 5 star hotel bar, or in any of the MPs. There are a few SW about. A nifty way to spot a working girl is the use of a drinking straw in the beer, nearly foolproof.

SUGGESTED Posting Guidelines
Don't post contact numbers on the open forum (without permission). Lot of lookie-lou's around who will use them to just harass the ladies (think 1-sided phone sex). (Just take a look at how many hits a photo in the photo gallery gets). Use the PM function after vetting the requestor.

Better if faces of ladies in the photo gallery are obscured. P4P is illegal here; why make it easy to identify her to LE (or to the ever present lookie-lou's). It is tolerated as long as it remains relatively low key and does not become an embarassment to the powers-that-be. Just remember: she's trying to make a living here; why make it more difficult for her by causing her any more problems than she already has. (For those who do want to post her face in the clear, why don't you also post yours [why should that be a problem] so we can tell what her standards are).

DUTY FREE BOOZE
Regarding the Dubai Duty free allowance on arrival, they allow non-Muslims to bring in up to 4 items of alcohol. That means 4 bottles of spirits, or 4 bottles of wine or 1+3, 2+2, or any combination thereof. For beer, you can bring in a maximum of 2 boxes (12 cans/box) plus max 2 bottles of wine or spirit.

This allowance has not changed as far as I know for the past 2-3 years or so. Of course it could change for the better or worse at any time, but in reality, it’s not likely to reduce, as DDF make tons of money, and wouldn’t want to reduce their profits.

PRICING

Short time (ST) 200-500 Dhs.

Long time (LT) 400-1500 Dhs.

These prices will depend upon venue, looks and time of day (night.)
There are many variables, but this seems to be the range most often encountered. As a guide, you can normally find really nice ladies for 700 LT and 300-400 ST.

ALWAYS negotiate price, duration and what is on the menu BEFORE you seal the deal. This lets things proceed in a much more relaxed manner, besides, no surprises! PAY after!

Know the fair price; don't pay a stupid price (but you won't as you read this forum).
A fair price is what it's worth to YOU
Be aware of the difference between start and fixed price.
Be prepared to lose if can't meet a fixed price.
You can walk away; there are others.

Even with the best advice, chances are, you will be overwhelmed the 1st time and pay too much. Just let it be a one-time experience. Don't sweat it; makes a good story later.

Some girls will play the "unstated currency" game; some visitors will get confused. She's not asking "how long you stay dubai?" because she cares about your travel plans; she wants to know how savvy you are. Saying you are a visitor can jack up the initial quote by a couple hundred dirhams (which confirms my right to indignation when, after telling one I live here, I still get an outrageously high quote). Let's be clear; this IS the UAE; currency here is the durham, NOT the USD. Yes, girls will take USD's, but you need to be clear up front what currency the quoted price is in.

2 variations on the game:
2 girls quote 400. (that's a period; i.e., no currency statement). Guy thinks great, 400 dhs (110 USDs). Get back to his place, now it's pay first, and it's 400 USD's (1460 dhs). Yes, will negotiate down, but now they have the leverage. (Will you really kick them out, go back to the bar?)

Another: girl quotes 500, meaning 500 dhs. Visitor thinks 500 USD's is high, but he'll settle for 400 USD's, as he's using "back home" as a price guide.

The first is a rip-off of the customer; the last is a girl letting the customer be stupid (she said she really had a good time).

So, when you start talking price, throw in dirhams or dollars, depending on what you're carrying. Some of the top line a-list will quote USD's, so listen close. No harm if it's 100, 150, maybe even 200 USD's (though that's over my limit) ; just as long as they are saying dollars. Some have told me that they will intentionally leave off the currency when they are talking 400 or 500, hoping someone will be stupid and misunderstand (yes, they will willingly negotiate down to 300 USD's ).

And my advice (request) is: don't do the same. Because when punters start getting clever, and saying 200, with no currency, she's thinking 200 USD, then, when it comes time to pay, out comes 200 dhs... Well, you can be assured, she will never accept pay after again. Just ruins it for the rest of us (and you, because word WILL get around) ; this is how some nationalities get tainted by the actions of a few.

Unless it is TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS, that first price you pay will become THE price for any subsequent encounters, so just keep that in mind.
There are any number of girls around. If you miss out with one, there ARE OTHERS. Like the saying goes, you don't lose her, just your place in the queue.

And the most IMPORTANT point :
If there is no rapport with a girl, if she is not actively seeking your company (and money) with some self-marketing, then why bother? Move on to someone you have a better chance with having a good time.

Always make sure you fully understand all the details, especially price, before leaving.

PAY AFTER if you can (and you should!) In talking to the girls, it quickly becomes clear it's 2 sides of the same coin: neither of us wants to get cheated. Pay after ONLY works when the girl can trust the punter to do so, fairly.

Point: You can achieve success at your own price point. As mentioned in a previous post: you set the tone; it's not so much control as not being played.

Point: It is a business, but you can have fun at it.

Point: Pay After. Mention this before leaving bar. Best to pay after; if money requested up front, be cautious. Point 14 is not cast in concrete; it's a guideline. But in my experience, I've had more bad experiences than good when I've broken it.

Point: Carry, or have, a variety of denominations of currency (suggest dirhams) to pay exact change. For example, if you get a price of 450, don't expect change from a 500; she's not a bank.

Point: To swing a deal your way, offer to cover incidentals (prime example: taxi fare).

Point: Even making a good offer, you can and will be turned down, based on any number of the lady's criteria. No big deal; there are others.

Point: Be very cautious of deals where you pay a 3rd party in the bar. For experienced players only (I don't consider myself qualified to do this).

DUBAI ADVICE

As you no doubt know, Dubai is very liberal, but you have to learn to live with the rules, unwritten though they may be.... But there's no telling how the rules may be interpreted at any time.
Just do your own thing and keep a low profile.
One thing I always do is make acquaintance, shake hands, get to know the bouncers and manager in the night clubs I regularly frequent. That way, if there's any trouble and you just happen to be stuck innocently in the middle of it, you have a better chance of avoiding any consequences.
Another thing, dress moderately and sensibly in shopping malls and at night clubs. Blend in with the crowd.

Be polite. Unless you are carrying a UAE passport, not just a residency or visitor's visa in your own passport, then you are a guest is this country. Act accordingly, as, while they might need your expertise, they do NOT need YOU.

Point: You turn too many down, then rightly or wrongly, you are viewed as a non-player; not worth the time.

Point: You don't need your whole group of friends to go with you when you talk to a girl. Likewise, standing 1 meter in front of her, leering, will not endear you to her. Be a bit more subtle when you check her out.

Point: Always a trade off of walking away from one bar for another (maybe we need a bar traffic report number you could call into, see what the action is: "Cyclone, moving freely; York, lot of congestion"). Before midnight is early, but the later you stay, the shorter that LT is.

DO NOT assume the girl will have a condom. Some do, some don't. Just last Friday, I was rather surprised when a very popular TGIT girl did not have any (I ALWAYS have my own). Girls won't carry in case they get stopped by LE; if they do carry, a number will put in their bra (of course, a problem if they're not wearing one ).

Condoms are readily available in any supermarket or pharmacy. And while you're there, pick up a few soft drinks; who wants to pay mini-bar prices ?

Get in the habit of asking for her number if the service was good. Unless it was a bad experience, I always do. Sometimes, you just don't feel like going out. And, if you call in the early evening, she saves the bar entrance fee.

1. Don't pay for the whole night up front.
2. In a hotel room that has a mini-bar that is not under lock and key, take out the expensive bottles of booze and put them in the safe.
3. Block the long distance calls on the phone.

Point: If possible, take them back to your place. No need to give up the home court advantage unless you must.

Point: Be polite (remember, word gets around), but don't get screened in by ladies you are not interested in. A polite "no thank you" should do. You don't want to get blocked in as, if you are with a lady, no other lady will cut in. You want to be approachable (for the chinese), or free to move if CIS are your targets.

Ramadan:
Bars, clubs still open. No bands/music. House lights up. Close at 2am, not 3. Still plenty of opportunities; street action limited.
==========================
EXAMPLE

This is an old post of mine (11bravo) of a Cyclone experience which I'll repost as I feel it is still valid and appropriate here, to expand out on Sporadic's post.

Point 1: Even with the best advice, chances are, you will be overwhelmed the 1st time and pay too much. Just let it be a one-time experience. Don't sweat it; makes a good story later.
Saw a number of nice ones floating around. Chinese early, other nationalities arriving later. Stood by the same russian girl from last week, again guys dog-packing her, or giving her the piece of meat stare.
Point 2: You don't need your whole group of friends to go with you when you talk to a girl. Likewise, standing 1 meter in front of her, leering, will not endear you to her. Be a bit more subtle when you check her out. Some chinese came over for a "job interview", but a number passing by. Had to check to make sure I was not wearing the invisibility cloak. Point 3: You will get known; turn down too many girls, too many times, you will be flagged as a non-player, whether correct or not.Debating whether to slide over to York, but as I'm cheap, figured I'd get my money's worth and stick around. Around midnight, things picking up. Point 4: Always a trade off of walking away from one bar for another (maybe we need a bar traffic report number you could call into, see what the action is: "Cyclone, moving freely; York, lot of congestion" ). Before midnight is early, but the later you stay, the shorter that LT is.Spied a chinese girl, Sunny, who'd I'd not seen in 6 months. She came over, some small talk, asked if she should hook me up with a friend (passed), then moved on. Average face, but VERY nice rack. Point 5: Sometimes, girl hooking you up with a friend works, sometimes not. My advice, exercise caution, as most times, it's someone who speaks little english, with little experience.Had several cute potentials, but never could make eye contact, and too lazy to give up my bar seat to go chase. Did not see either of my 2 regulars, so decided to go track down Sunny.

She was over in "Chinese corner", talking to another chinese. Asked her what she was going to do; she replied "Make business", and went back to talking to the other chinese girl. OK, didn't think she had turned into a madam, so asked in another way, "How about making business with me?" Ah, that got a different response. Now all of her attention was directed at me. I've pulled her before; I knew what services were on offer; didn't meet my specs 100%, but was willing to overlook due to her nice rack. However, it then got to price; she wanted 600 whereas I'd paid 500 before (which is my ceiling). She wouldn't move down; I wouldn't move up. She explained "good night for business". Fair enough; true market economy. With me, she's a bit of the pro, but that's all right, we just don't click as GFE. It was not worth it, to me, at that rate. Point 6: All of us set our own price; it is a free market. As we were negotiating (or actually, not negotiating), over her shoulder I'd spied another tall girl with a nice rack, couldn't place the nationality. After Sunny left, the tall girl was pulled over by a chinese I'd turned down earlier. Tall girl was chinese/russian (CR). Very nice looking; cut to the chase, and asked price for LT. What I heard was 400. Before I jumped at something too good to be true, wanted to clarify; maybe she was quoting ST tourist price. Point 7: Always make sure you fully understand all the details, especially price, before leaving.I was right to clarify; it was 700 for her, AND she wanted me to take the other girl, "no problem, she new, little english, no money, can give small money, only 400". 1100 total? Nope; pass on that. It was not going to be a 3some, but more cutting the other girl in on a "naive player" deal.

Declined; so she switched to "give her what you want"; declined, so it was "take me, only 700". ONLY 700? She gave me the "I'm new, need money, have to pay entrance, apartment, etc., etc". Don't mean to sound hard-hearted, but I understand they're here as they need money, not for the DSF; that's a given. So any explanation superfluous. I declined, offered 500; there was no counter offer and she walked away. Point 8: Sometimes you let them walk. It's a subtle difference for me; Sunny's explation was OK (market) ; CR's was not (I don't want to hear a justification of your prices).

Cruised around a bit more. Stopped next to a cute Krygistani doing a little dance to attract attention. Enjoyed the show for awhile (both her and the leering buffoons). Out of curiosity, asked for a price quote; "900, 800, 700, 600", as one statement. I didn't hear the magic 500 price point; she was cute enough she'd try for a customer at the higher end; didn't feel like seriously negotiating for services/price, or sticking around as the evening ran out. Also, her LITTLE english was not enticing.

Walking back to Chinese corner, trying to move in on a cute chinese I'd been seeing the whole evening. Then spotted one of my regulars, Sue. However, when I tapped her on the shoulder to say hi, she bolted away. That was unexpected. After a discreet time, walked over to find out WTF THAT was about; she quickly replied would talk to me later; hopefully, she was lining up a customer and, like us, didn't want to be blocked from the real target.

Went back to move in on previous girl. Saw Sue and CR talking; now CR was back, saying she and Sue were good friends; Sue had said I was an allright guy. Point 9: like I said above, you will get a reputation that will be shared, for good or bad. However, she was not mentioning a drop in price. Maybe she would, maybe she wouldn't. I'm the first to admit, I will cut off my nose to spite my own face; I now wasn't interested in trying to do a deal with her. Once I give a definitive No-Thank-You, that's it. There are just too many other girls around, and I always figure, if you really beat the price down, what kind of service will you get. I just prefer to start fresh. I wandered off. [Note: this was a mistake; lost an opportunity; in hindsight, should have re-opened negotiations, and might even have paid 700 for the experience rather than wondering what she would have been like].

Over the next 30 minutes, kept bumping into Sunny (she hadn't met her price point yet) ; CR and Sue had disappeared. Point 10: Be prepared to accept the consequences of your decisions. You are not the ONLY player in town.I hate to admit, I was leaning towards Sunny; the 600 stuck in my throat, but her rack is NICE. But I just didn't want to contribute to price inflation. [One question, gentlemen: who is responsible for this inflation? Have seen it several places: Cyclone girls who accepted 500 now want 600; York girls who accepted 400 now want 500) ].

Back in Chinese corner; spotted a little pixie who'd I seen earlier a number of times walking around; never could make eye contact. Now, stopped to talk. Once I initiated the conversation, got the good vibes. Point 11: Not every chinese will come over and initiate a conversation; sometimes you will have to make the 1st move.Asked about services; favorable response. We did a bit of the dance about "how much you give / how much you want". She quoted 600; I offered 500 (for me, that's reasonable Cyclone price for LT). There was a bit of a pause, then she said OK. Point 12: You can achieve success at your own price point. As I mentioned in a previous post: you set the tone; it's not so much control as not being played. Point 13: It is a business, but you can have fun at it. Point 14: Pay After. Mention this before leaving bar. Best to pay after; if money requested up front, be cautious. Point 14 is not cast in concrete; it's a guideline. But in my experience, I've had more bad experiences than good when I've broken it.
Point 15: If possible, take them back to your place. No need to give up the home court advantage unless you must. Point 16: Carry, or have, a variety of denominations of currency (suggest dirhams) to pay exact change. For example, if you get a price of 450, don't expect change from a 500; she's not a bank. Point 17: To swing a deal your way, offer to cover incidentals (prime example: taxi fare). Point 18: Even making a good offer, you can and will be turned down, based on any number of the lady's criteria. No big deal; there are others. Point 19: Be very cautious of deals where you pay a 3rd party in the bar. For experienced players only (I don't consider myself qualified to do this). Point 20: Be polite (remember, word gets around), but don't get screened in by ladies you are not interested in. A polite "no thank you" should do. You don't want to get blocked in as, if you are with a lady, no other lady will cut in. You want to be approachable (for the chinese), or free to move if CIS are your targets.

11Bravo,

I read your "Punting Guide to DXB". I found it very useful and, looking back, I wish I had come across you/this website a long time ago. Whilst you have covered most of the points, I hope you will allow me to add a few further tips:

The first 2 tips mainly applies to the "foreign legion" that come to Dubai. This is because most of the locals tend to pay amounts which they/the girls are accustomed to and they are unlikely to ever get ripped off. For those of us who are in Dubai only for a few days, tip 1 tends to work well because you do not want your entire night ruined because she did not perform to your spec.

1 Always budget for giving a small tip. Having negotiated a rate for ST or LT, I have always made it clear to the girl that there will be a tip for them provided I have been given a good time. This rarely fails. Typical tips suggested are Dhs50~100 for ST and Dhs100~200 for LT. They also depend on the original rate agreed. For those that are in Dubai for only a short period and possibly only punting at night, therefore only seeing a WG perhaps 3~4 times throughout their stay, the last thing you would want is one of those nights turning into a disaster. See one of my FR, which will follow, if I am allowed to post my experience from 2001.

2 For visitors to Dubai whose hotel is not Girl Friendly or if they are in Dubai with a family then I suggest they carry a copy of their own passport with them. The original passport is usually lodged with the hotel where you are staying at so cannot be carried around with you. A copy of UK passport is usually sufficient to obtain a room with any other hotel (what the authorities may think of you booking two rooms for the same night in two different hotels is a different story, lol). We have picked up girls, most of whom carry their ID cards with them, and gone to some of these friendly hotels and booked a room for the night and paid cash. A copy of our passport is lodged with the reception, which we then pick up when we check out. The hotels that we have used so far include Dallas and Mina Plaza (?), both in Bur Dubai. Rates were approx Dhs150. Dallas is well recommended because it is just round the corner from the Imperial and the basic rooms do not have any Mini Bars. As we tend to travel mostly in Groups, the decision of which hotel we are going to stay at does not rest with us. Most of the time, we end up in decent hotels catering for families etc. that tend to have strict policies on brining a girl in. For this reason, it is best to budget for this and to go to these friendlier hotels if you pick up a girl who does not have a flat and with whom you wish to spend an LT.

3 In places like Cyclone where entrance fees and price of drinks take their toll, It is recommended to take mobile numbers down of girls you have previously seen and with whom you were pleased or take numbers down of girls whom you may not see that night but possibly in future. By not visiting these nightclubs again, over a few days, this can easily save you sufficient money for another punt.

Hi,

Hi I am coming to Dubai tomorrow. I have understood that Hilton Jumeirah Beach is girl friendly with some traffic also at the place, but would still like to know are there any issues/problems with taxis when getting girls from Cyclone or York to hotel?

Thanks for the great contributions. Especially 11Bravo with the excellent layman's guide posting. I am new to the Hobby and really appreciate the advise from all.

I am traveling to Dubai next week (first time to UAE) with group of non-hobbiests for business and will stay at the Grand Hyatt. I could not find much on this Hotel and would appreciate any information from fellow Punters.

Love to hit the club scene so well discribed in this forum but may not be able to break away from co-workers. Any advise on possible discrete out-calls would be terrific help. I look forward to posting my first FR and thanks again!

Dubai, January 8: Dubai Police said yesterday they have arrested 31 women and 40 men in connection with “sex trafficking”, prostitution and the operation of brothels in the emirate. Senior police sources told that the arrests are the culmination of an intensive investigation in the Diera and Bur Dubai areas where the prostitution and sex rackets were suspected to be operating.

The young women from the South Indian State of Kerala and 40 men who were working as their agents and associates in the brothels were arrested by an investigation team under the guidance of Lt General Col Rasheed Bakhit Al Jumairy, Assistant Director, Investigation Wing of the Immigration Department. The raids were into the residential complexes were led by Captain Talal and Lt. Abdullah Matrooshi.

Dubai police are engaged in a crackdown on prostitution and a clean up of the city and a gang, which was running a prostitution ring in Deira was also recently arrested in a raid.

In the last six months, Dubai police have been watching immoral traffickers,” added police sources.

The majority of the 31 women arrested hail from Kollam, Pathanamthittaa and other regions of central Kerala. Indian woman are often the victims in prostitution rackets.

Agents lure young girls from India with promises of jobs. Some girls are brought to Dubai under the pretext of working for beauty parlours, as nurses or in shopping malls before being forced to enter prostitution by the agents.

These agents keep changing their location every week and often move the girls from one Gulf country to another.

Dubai Police say they will continue to monitor such criminal activity. “In the last six months, Dubai police have been watching immoral traffickers,” added police sources.

Not to beat this into the ground, but now, you can get a wasel (pre-paid) card just about anywhere. If your phone is blocked, Carrefour has phones (and the wasel cards) for as little as 240Dhs. The card is 180Dhs with 30 credit (as mentioned before) and does indeed need to be renewed every year for 100 Dhs. At Carrefour, the 30 dirham cards are only 27 Dhs each.
they will make the needed copy of your passport (main page, plus the page with your current Visa.)

They activate the phone in less than 24 hours and you are good to go. Cheap and slick as a whistle!

Cheers,

Sporadic

Ps. This also lets you keep "dubious" phone numbers off of your regular phone, and regular phone bill. You will also avoid any unwanted calls this way. "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."

Dubai Locations (at least the main ones I'm familiar with). If you can't find someone here, you're a stronger man than I:

Cyclone: standalone bar/disco (not within a hotel). Behind American Hospital. Bur Dubai (Old Metha area). 75-85 dhs entrance fee applied to everyone (depends on weekday/weekend); no drinks included.

TGIT: Bar inside Astoria Hotel, ground floor. Opposite side of hotel reception. Bur Dubai (Bur Dubai area).

Premiere: Nightclub, Hyatt Hotel (old Hyatt, not Grand Hyatt), Diera. Entrance fee for all.

Triangle of Fun: Bur Dubai (Bur Dubai):
1. York: Bar inside York Hotel, 1st (or 2nd) depending on how you count - anyway, it's one floor up from ground floor. Walk into hotel, stairs are to your LEFT, just before you reach lobby area. This is NOT the ground floor bar to right of entrance. Entrance fees for some, drinks included.

2. Rockafellas: Bar inside Regal Plaza Hotel, 1 floor up from ground. Enter hotel, straight back to stairs leading up. This is NOT the ground floor bar, left of stairs. Entrance fees for some, drinks included.

3. Stayin Alive: Bar inside Imperial Suites Hotel (aka Imperial Suites). MAIN bar is entered by a wooden door to the LEFT of the hotel entrance, door is outside, on the street. Another smaller bar is entered by a wooden door to the RIGHT of the hotel entrance, again on the street. Entrance fees for some, drinks included.

4. Rumors: Bar inside Ramada Hotel. Entered from side of hotel, on main street, up short flight of stairs.

5. Jockeys: Bar inside of Panorama Hotel. Left of hotel entrance. Entrance fees for some, drinks included.

It is easily possible to walk from one bar to the other in the "Triangle of Fun". Longest distance is 2 long blocks.

From York:
Walking straight out York front door: Regal Plaza is cattycorner (diagonal) - look to your left, across the intersection.

Walking straight out York front door, STRAIGHT across street in front of York (NOT turning left or right outside of York, but straight across street). On the same side after you cross Bank street, through the parking lot, past Shoemart, Sony store. At "McDonalds intersection", 1st intersection, you come to, turn right. Down 1 block; Imperial is on your left.

Instead of turning right at Mc'Donalds intersection, if you go straight, past Choithrams grocery market, continue on past dirt lot on your right, you will hit Panorama Hotel.

Instead of walking past Choithrams, look to your left; you will see Ramada.

Physical relationships in the Triangle (using ... for spacing):

.....................Jockeys

Ramada ............................Imperial Suites

Regal Plaza

.......................York

Your research is a welcomed sight. I hope all others can do the same when they are in the "know".

I'll walk the "triangle" this week. BTW, any suggestions for mid-day drinking / mongering?

Pre-Flight Check List for Newbies:

Pre-pre:
On arrival at the airport, stop at the Arrival Duty Free, and pick up some alcohol. Believe you can bring in 4 items (Dubai): MY choice would be: 2 12-packs of beer, a bottle of vodka, and a bottle of whatever you drink. Convient for entertaining back at your place, and recovery the next day.

On arrival at the hotel, clear out the mini-bar of their overpriced items; in with yours. If time, pop over to the local market for some soft drinks and a bottle/box of juice. If you don't know where the nearest store is, ask a clerk at the front desk. If you're staying out at the beach hotels, you're kind of at their mercy. But in town, no problem; any number of hole-in-the-wall grocery stores.

Pre:
Make sure you have an adequate supply of condoms. Myself, I buy the cheap, 12 for 6 dhs kind, for the dreaded cbj (if necessary); for the actual pushin' and shovin', I prefer a quality brand. These are available at Spinneys, Shop-n-Go, etc. These days, due to LE stops, a number of girls will not carry.

Make sure you have adequate change/bills. Expecting her to make change.... she's not a bank. More likely, just guarantees her a large tip. I'll make sure I have a 500 dhs note, and at least 4 100 notes. That way, I'm covered for any price mark (at least the ones I'm likely to partake of), either short or long time. Nice if you also have some 10's for taxi fare. Front desk, or your trip to the grocery store, should set you up.

Turn up the room thermostat, if possible. I've found that comfortable for me is a dive in the bed, under the covers for most of the ladies.

Now:
NEVER pay in the bar, and NEVER EVER pay to a 3rd person (her madam) in the bar. If her boss does not trust her, why should you?!?

I prefer pay after, but not always possible. If asked for money up front (back at your place, or hers), then you have a decision to make. I always like to get this clear before leaving the bar, just so there are no discussions later.

One option (that I MUST use more often), is set a price for ST, plus an understanding that LT might be an option if service is good. Certainly would seem to solve the "pay LT, she does a runner after ST" problem. These are infrequent, but do happen.

If there are problems beforehand (infrequent), just say "Let's go back to the bar", not as a threat, but a statement. If it's too late, then, I've still suggested "Here's taxi money...". This way, it's her decision of what happens.

Post:
Pay the agreed upon amount. If you don't, then you're ruining "pay after" for ALL. Hopefully, the experience has been everything you imagined. If not, well, it will make a good story, and there is always tomorrow.

Suggestion friends have told me, it's not possible to pay afterwards. What I recommend ( in reference to Bravo's ST then maybe LT ) pay half up front. Then if it turns out to be LT, then pay the balance in the morning. Or if it turns out to be ST, pay the balance when finish.

WHat do you say to that KIng?

pay half up front. Then if it turns out to be LT, then pay the balance in the morning. Or if it turns out to be ST, pay the balance when finish.ANYTHING that works to reduce risk of a provider doing a runner. MY experience, does not happen often, but the probability IS non-zero. Sounds good to me; then, if she's not willing to accept, you have to ask yourself why. Just another reason to pull early. That way, if things are not going as planned, possible to both return to the bar to look for other partners.

here try it :

To bypass the proxy just visit the site http://anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/index_en.html and download the file: japsetup.exe. I didnt send the file because you might suspect its a virus, although I would probably be suspicious as well if a stranger had sent it to me.

Small update on this wonderful resource.

I keeping with Dubai´s business friendly attitude, although the official customs limit on tonsil polish is two bottles of spirits, two of wine (or x cans of beer) the reality is four bottles.

They could care less if it is wine, kool-aid, grain alcohol or whatever. So it could be two cases of beer (they think 12 cans is a bottle) four bottles of whiskey or whatever else you want.

By the way, this "limit" does NOT go through the scanners. So feel free to pack a bottle or two in your suitcase if you are seriously thirsty, or need a couple nice gifts for residents.

No walk of shame here gents, this is bulletproof. Never a question or a raised eyebrow in six years.

Price check on Chinese flowers, Aisle 3
Just some personal, rambling observations of Cyclone scene

First, let me say I have a sentimental soft spot for Cyclone. 1st time in dxb, it was the place I went (very easy, was the ONLY place I'd heard of). Was a regular there, at least once a week, sometimes twice a week for 6 months. Then, reading this and other forum, found other places to go. But still, nothing like that virgin first time to hold fond memories...

Anyway, every now and again, I will pay a return visit (weekdays, NOT on weekends). Last night, Saturday, was one such. It's 70 dhs entrance, no drinks included. Was there from 10 to 12.

Walking in at 10, expected mix. No africans (don't recall seeing any at Cyclone, regardless of hour), few CIS, mainly Chinese there to catch the early ST. Few punters, ladies way outnumbering them. Did not see my fave a-list; thought she might be on her summer break. She did arrive 15 minutes later. When I chastized her for being late to the office, she excused herself by saying she had a friend in from england who she was looking after (yes, I'm SURE of that; lucky guy!) I have a standing joke with her: she's my market indicator; I claim she's always pulled for her 1st ST by 11:30. Last night, SLOW; even then she made the deadline with 20 minutes to spare.

The demarcation line for the chinese still seems to be in force, although I did see a few encroachments into the dmz between the small center bar and the large bar.

Pleasant surprise: another fave a-list who I hadn't seen in awhile. Almost didn't recognize her; she seemed to have grown 4 inches (in height; what were YOU thinking). But I know the secret; she cuts her pants long to hide the PLATFORMS. I tell her it's like an elevator (ground floor, please). She briefly stopped to say hi, explaining she was leaving tomorrow for china. Thus, she had the targeting radar on max; no time for chit-chat. Within the hour, gone.

Another nice surprise: another girl I hadn't seen for awhile was back. Remember her from 2 years ago; then, didn't do any talking; had a mentor do all her marketing. Wasn't that she couldn't speak english; she just didn't like the marketing aspect. Very happy to get the out-call rather than have to go to the bar. Now, she was the mentor; newbie in tow.

Disappointing: Keep hoping to see FanFan, the girl who gave the best massage (left during visa exodus). I do miss her. She was style, class, AND service. Gone for good, me thinks.

Bad news: Did not see good Lucy which was a real disappointment as, THIS time, I had remembered to bring her photos to give her. Should have known; my luck, photos and presence mutually exclusive.

Worse news: Bad Lucy was around, although, last night, she had left the gel pads at home, so the rack was only average (small compared to the normal cyclone ladies). MY view of her looks: chinese, with a slight touch of Indian (although that might be due to the TINY nose jewel she SOMETIMES wears). Anyway, MY experience with her: paid before, then LT turned to ST (which she does brag about to her friends). So, strongly suggest avoiding.

Plenty of a-lists around, the usual a+'s. Again, as usual these days, unlike years past, the next step down's were missing. One who was there did approach me. 2 weeks in-country, LIMITED english, no mentor in sight. She did not even understand my "sorry, tonight, only drink". She bravely continued on; I could actually hear the english lessons: "You are handsome man; I am lovely girl". Felt sorry for her; eventually, she did pop THE question: "You want lady tonight?". She moved off when I again declined, this time with a direct "No thank you."

Usual mix of familiar/new faces. As usual THESE days, the -stanis were conspicuous in their absence. Knew that night's market was bad when a Ukranian initiated a conversation. Sorry, did not ask price; even if it had been a 100 dhs, would not have said yes. I just did not find her attractive (adjective squat comes to mind). Some others around ok, but I did not see any stunning CIS. Then again, not really my thing. Approaching midnight, many more CIS present, more chinese, more punters.

One rail thin chinese, a familiar face to me, even if I don't register on her radar. Very popular (would not make my a-list, but obviously does a lot of other punter's), always wearing a very stylish dress (think upper-class nightclub). I did surprise her by stopping and speaking to her (think invisible man suddenly appears). Having seen her leave with a customer at 10:20, back at 11:30 alone, I complemented her on her professional service: "Done in 1 hour, very nice".

Did a perfunctory price survey. Difficult to REALLY say as I don't start serious negotiations unless I am really interested. Why haggle to get the lowest price, only to walk away? My sampling (all chinese) :

3 1000's: Not an a-list. Girl did not know me, I did not know her. Her response to "How much?" was 500. When I asked "LT?", she replied, "500, 2 hours". I clarified to "all night"; answer, "1000". Wishful thinking / tourist price.

A (minus) -list girl I'd pulled. Asked her. Rock solid 1000. However, year ago, we had had a harsh disagreement when she turned LT into ST and I paid her MY ST rate; advantage of Pay After. Her buzz-off price.

Another A (minus) -list girl, turns out I did know her. I hadn't recognized her until she gave me her name; she was correct; I had pulled her before. She complained I had said I'd call her again, but hadn't. Her price was "1000, but, for you, special discount, 700". I really couldn't remember the details, but did remember there was SOME reason I had not called again. Legit price.2 500's: A (minus) -list girl I knew, but not pulled. Asked price; she gave me the non-commital answer "If I no like customer, high; if like, good price; I know you, like you; give you good price." When asked specifics, answer was "500". When I asked for ST/LT clarification, she just said "Up to you". I'd be a bit skeptical on the true duration; some a-list's definition of LT is "until you fall asleep". Exercise with caution.

1 "you know the price", nothing further from an a-list girl I knew, but not pulled. She knew I was only data sampling. no data.

Another used-to-be-a-list, now slight below; pulled her in better days. Her response was "500". For the ST/LT clarification: "If not sleep with you, 300", so 500 was her LT rate. legit price.700 dhs
One other price point, from a weekend a month back: Had spotted an a-list Cyclone girl at York. Figuring I had a chance at my "Cyclone old time" rate of 500, asked her LT rate; "700". When I countered with "500, same before", she just smiled and walked away. 700 firm.MY WAG: 1000 (and up) is valid LT price for a+ (pluses).

1000 LT is tourist price for a-list.

700 LT is resident a-list price.

500 LT is for b-listers (though they are not as prevalent anymore)

500 ST is valid ST price for a+ (pluses).

500 ST is tourist price for a-list.

400 ST would be my guess for resident a-list prices.

300 ST for b-listers.These were weeknight prices on a SLOW night. Would imagine a 100, 200 weekend surcharge might apply. YMMV, widely.

Almost worth the price of admittance: girl I know walks up, throws me the barb, "What are you doing here? Cyclone girls EXPENSIVE, not like York girls." Almost spit the drink out of my mouth, laughing so hard.

---------

MY view:
It's like baseball.

Cyclone is the major leagues. You get the best players, but also, the pro attitude. Because it's the pros who work at Cyclone. And just like the majors, you have the high ticket prices. I'm not saying you can't find a GF attitude there, but the pros are geared to making money, big money. If you've got it to spend, fine. But they do seem to come with an attitude.

York, Imperial, even Rockafellas, are the minor leagues. A few girls will eventually get called up to the majors (when they find their true market value), but the vast majority of the minor leaguers are just making a living, ok with a decent paycheck. If you love the game, then the minors are the best value for money. You don't have the exorbitant ticket prices. There is a feeling of having fun, if you know what I mean; with a decent paycheck, she's not looking at the clock, thinking how quick she can make it back to the bar. I'm not saying it's amateurish, but... much more likely to find a GFE there (IMHO).

I go to York, Imperial. You can flirt, bs, the girl will spend some time with you, hoping to convince you to make a deal. My experience last night at Cyclone: it was the usual litany * (where you come from, how long you stay dubai, where you stay, what's your name), then, THE question: you want lady. If the answer was NOT "Yes", QUICKLY given, then she'd move on. Now, this did have something to do with me being known/not known: known - a number know my price ceiling, know they are outside it, so don't bother. Others know IF I want them, I'll say something; otherwise, they're looking for more likely targets
not known - as I no longer frequent Cyclone, a number will not know if I am a player or a lookie-lou. No sense wasting time with a lookie-lou.*translation where you come from - as paychecks are based on nationality, used to gauge size of your wallet
how long you stay dubai - can I quote you the tourist price, or do I have to use the resident one
where you stay - also used to gauge size of wallet, potential problems/overhead of going with you, and to figure in charges for travel time
what's your name - well, have to call you something, Habeebee

Prime example: a home-cooked meal is a very nice addition. Asking a minor leaguer to come over a bit early to make us dinner, vast majority responds "as long as you like fill-in-her nationality's cooking...". With a major leaguer, with some notible exceptions, will get you a "WTF" look... After all, Roberto Alomar is NOT showing up early game day, just to socialize with his fans (isn't he the one who spit in the umpire's face?)

---------------------

Which brings me to my final thoughts (finally).

Which bar is the best? Any one of the main ones you happen to be in. For me, in any of the main bars, I've been able to find someone that I'm eager to get home with. At least the anticipation is wonderful whether the reality lives up to the expectation or not.

If you're a resident, and don't go out that often per week, check out the various bars; 1 night, 1 bar, as there is an ebb and flow of ladies at each. Check it out on a weekday, on a weekend. Then, settle in at 1 basic bar. Doesn't say you can't visit others, but have a "home". Yes, the doorman will know you. The waitress, given a nod, will bring you your drink of choice, no words needing to be spoken. Big deal (NOT).

I don't go to the bars to drink; I can drink cheaper at home. I don't go to socialize; screaming into the next person's ear is not my idea of a conversation. I go to the bars to pull a lady. What is a big deal, the ladies will know you. You've pulled her, you've pulled her friend; if nothing else, she's seen you walk out of the bar, accompanied. Therefore, it does make (financial) sense to spend some time with you, marketing. She knows you as a player, not a lookie-lou. It does make a difference. Say "Cheers".

I stayed in Dubai for two days on business and found it simply to be amazing (minus the weather). Who would have thought of it, an Arab country with de facto legalized prostitution? Dubai has a lot of three things; expensive hotels, malls and *****s. The malls are full of beautiful women from all over the world. Europeans, Asians and especially Filipinos this place looks like a rich version of the Philippines the Filipinos are so bountiful there. They are the largest minority in the place.

Though the malls are crawling with model type material, you may be hard pressed to pick up one there. The women in this country know who has the money (the Arabs). Thirty percent of the country is wealthy. The women are no different from other women around world, they love money. The country is really beautiful and even on my 100,000 dollars a year salary I still felt very poor compared with these guys.

Now for the good stuff. If you enjoy fucking exotic women (like I do) with no strings attached there are two places I recommend going The York international hotel and the Cyclone. As soon as I entered the York I was grabbed by a gang of African chicks working there, apparently they got a kick out of me being black, young and dressed with my hip hop persona. Some Ethiopian, Ugandan, and Somalian, etc . . . Don’t let those save the children’s info commercials fool you. Some of these women are beautiful and stacked (stacked means big tits and ass).

I had no interest in black women what-so-ever I was mainly after the Asians and eastern European working the place. After checking out these African women( whom I had never saw before except on TV) I was I was thirsty to try one on for size( she didn’t fit, I will get into that). Me and a buddy then caught a taxi over to the Cyclone club and it was the same scene Chinese, eastern Europeans and Africans everywhere.

Things was looking good when all the Arabs started showing up outside the club as it was closing for what, (where I am from we call “parking lot pimping”). These guys were pulling up in nothing but foreign-made luxury cars grabbing all the women as they exited the club. So I had to think fast I grabbed as many as I could trying to negociate a price and place but nothing could pan out. Especially since the US government was paying for my room and we were not allowed bring in foreign guest.

Soon the lady pool dried up and me and my buddy a caught taxi back to our hotel saddened. When we arrived to our surprised three Africans and one European was waiting outside. I had recently had all the eastern European (Russians) I could handle in Uzbekistan so I opted for one of the Africans.

Her name was Leani she was from Kenya and she was beautiful big tits and ass.. A little baby fat around the waist though. We settled on a price which she started 200 US and I declined and told her 100 then she said ok 150 then asked if I wanted her friend also. I declined her friend offer since I was new to the scene here and I don’t trust the two girl thing (that’s how you end up robbed and dead).

We grabbed a taxi ( with Mr.George dubya playing star wars in the middle east U.A.E. is quite safe for an Arab country to an westerner. I had no problems catching taxis all over the place sometime alone).

We arrived at her apartment which she shared with two other girls a eastern European and another African. She was very nice and polite did not drink or smoke. She showered offered me the opportunity to the same. She then put on some slow music( my fellow Chicagoan R. Kelly), I put on the ultra thin rain coat( which felt really nice I might add) and we got to it.

Don’t want to brag but I am above average below the belt, she complained the whole way but she did her best. After the session was over we talked about where she was from and what I was doing in Dubai and her choice of work. Then she gave me her number and email. I took it them but later ripped them up. I stick to the plan no numbers no email. Two reasons I don’t want to bump the same bunny twice also there is a small chance to catch feelings and that is the biggest error of all.

Whats teh action like on Christmas nightNothing like planning in advance, but, you must be joking, right? I know YOU know this is an islamic country (Christmas not being that high up on govt recognized holidays - this coming from someone who's WORKED the last several).

Now, fancy restaurants will have special meals laid on, but that's mostly in the afternoon (Gary, remember us running around, trying to find where we could get some roast turkey Christmas NIGHT?)

The girls only have 1 holiday, and that's a couple days each month. Otherwise, they are out.

Cyclone MIGHT try to pull "a special" so they can charge a higher entrance fee. Doubt York will.

The night you DO have to look out for is New Year's Eve (western calendar). Then, everything IS JACKED UP; best to have a regular you can book at normal rates, and stay in.

I figures since Dubai has a lot of expats they actually care about Christmas.Yes, we care about Christmas. The businessmen and the businesswomen here care about making money.

Business will tend to be down; a lot of men are with their families - don't think the "just going out for some more eggnog" would work here. Some women will take the opportunity to go back home. But I've never had a problem with finding someone to sit by the fireside (well, make that the broiling patio).

Just a polite suggestion: you might find FR's such as this better placed on the dubai thread, as this is very specific to dubai with little "general info". Just a suggestion. But thanks for posting. It does provide learning by example.

Who would have thought of it, an Arab country with de facto legalized prostitution? That is a BIG misconception. Yes, it is here, yes the govt. knows it. Being discreet is the key!!! Just ask the Italian who was fined $1000USD (yes dollars) for kissing a girl in a cab.

As soon as I entered the York I was grabbed by a gang of African chicks working there, apparently they got a kick out of me being black, young and dressed with my hip hop persona.Actually, they are very perceptive about spotting a neophyte from across the room.

Me and a buddy then caught a taxi over to the Cyclone club and it was the same scene Chinese, eastern Europeans and Africans everywhere. That is an interesting observation. A shift in demographics as, past history, very few africans in cyclone. But given they are more prevalent everywhere these days, why should cyclone be an exception.

So I had to think fast I grabbed as many as I could trying to negociate a price and place but nothing could pan out. ... Soon the lady pool dried upLot of girls bit skeptical about last minute deals made in the parking lot (they're thinking why not in the club). So unless you're driving one of those luxary cars... best to mark your target, and seal the deal inside the club. If the police are going to do a documentation check, it will be at closing, outside, so a lot of ladies like to leave quickly. Closing times are 3am.

We settled on a price which she started 200 US and I declined and told her 100 then she said ok 150 then asked if I wanted her friend also. ... We arrived at her apartment ... After the session was over we talkedYIKES. Now, I'm the 1st to state that whatever price you pay is a good price if her experience is worth it TO YOU. But 150USD (I'm assuming we're talking dollars, not dirhams), even $100USD for ST, her place, is a bit over the top. A bit of reading here BEFORE venturing out can keep money in your wallet.

with Mr.George dubya playing star wars in the middle east U.A.E. is quite safe for an Arab country to an westerner. I had no problems catching taxis all over the place sometime aloneHas nothing to do with american presence in the region. Violence/crime bad for BUSINESS, and dubai IS business. Dubai safe long before american forces reached these shores.

I'd, again politely, just a suggestion, read this general thread (not all that many pages) to get some tips in general and some prices. Then read the last x pages (x up to you) of the dubai thread to get some specific, current examples. And I will admit there is some self-interest here: at your prices, she won't even look at me.

folks,

the following "twenty-seven articles" were originally posted in "the arab bulletin" and i just take the freedome to post them here because i belive they might be helpfull to understand the region and its people, however at least of interest to you. even slighlty off topic please enjoy.

twenty-seven articles

the following notes have been expressed in commandment form for greater clarity and to save words. they are, however, only my personal conclusions, arrived at gradually while i worked in the hejaz and now put on paper as stalking horses for beginners in the arab armies. they are meant to apply only to bedu; townspeople or syrians require totally different treatment. they are of course not suitable to any other person's need, or applicable unchanged in any particular situation. handling hejaz arabs is an art, not a science, with exceptions and no obvious rules. at the same time we have a great chance there; the sherif trusts us, and has given us the position (towards his government) which the germans wanted to win in turkey. if we are tactful, we can at once retain his goodwill and carry out our job, but to succeed we have got to put into it all the interest and skill we possess.

1. go easy for the first few weeks. a bad start is difficult to atone for, and the arabs form their judgments on externals that we ignore. when you have reached the inner circle in a tribe, you can do as you please with yourself and them.

2. learn all you can about your ashraf and bedu. get to know their families, clans and tribes, friends and enemies, wells, hills and roads. do all this by listening and by indirect inquiry. do not ask questions. get to speak their dialect of arabic, not yours. until you can understand their allusions, avoid getting deep into conversation or you will drop bricks. be a little stiff at first.

3. in matters of business deal only with the commander of the army, column, or party in which you serve. never give orders to anyone at all, and reserve your directions or advice for the c.o., however great the temptation (for efficiency's sake) of dealing with his underlings. your place is advisory, and your advice is due to the commander alone. let him see that this is your conception of your duty, and that his is to be the sole executive of your joint plans.

4. win and keep the confidence of your leader. strengthen his prestige at your expense before others when you can. never refuse or quash schemes he may put forward; but ensure that they are put forward in the first instance privately to you. always approve them, and after praise modify them insensibly, causing the suggestions to come from him, until they are in accord with your own opinion. when you attain this point, hold him to it, keep a tight grip of his ideas, and push them forward as firmly as possibly, but secretly, so that to one but himself (and he not too clearly) is aware of your pressure.

5. remain in touch with your leader as constantly and unobtrusively as you can. live with him, that at meal times and at audiences you may be naturally with him in his tent. formal visits to give advice are not so good as the constant dropping of ideas in casual talk. when stranger sheikhs come in for the first time to swear allegiance and offer service, clear out of the tent. if their first impression is of foreigners in the confidence of the sherif, it will do the arab cause much harm.

6. be shy of too close relations with the subordinates of the expedition. continual intercourse with them will make it impossible for you to avoid going behind or beyond the instructions that the arab c.o. has given them on your advice, and in so disclosing the weakness of his position you altogether destroy your own.

7. treat the sub-chiefs of your force quite easily and lightly. in this way you hold yourself above their level. treat the leader, if a sherif, with respect. he will return your manner and you and he will then be alike, and above the rest. precedence is a serious matter among the arabs, and you must attain it.

8. your ideal position is when you are present and not noticed. do not be too intimate, too prominent, or too earnest. avoid being identified too long or too often with any tribal sheikh, even if c.o. of the expedition. to do your work you must be above jealousies, and you lose prestige if you are associated with a tribe or clan, and its inevitable feuds. sherifs are above all blood-feuds and local rivalries, and form the only principle of unity among the arabs. let your name therefore be coupled always with a sherif's, and share his attitude towards the tribes. when the moment comes for action put yourself publicly under his orders. the bedu will then follow suit.

9. magnify and develop the growing conception of the sherifs as the natural aristocracy of the arabs. intertribal jealousies make it impossible for any sheikh to attain a commanding position, and the only hope of union in nomad arabs is that the ashraf be universally acknowledged as the ruling class. sherifs are half-townsmen, half-nomad, in manner and life, and have the instinct of command. mere merit and money would be insufficient to obtain such recognition; but the arab reverence for pedigree and the prophet gives hope for the ultimate success of the ashraf.

10. call your sherif 'sidi' in public and in private. call other people by their ordinary names, without title. in intimate conversation call a sheikh 'abu annad', 'akhu alia' or some similar by-name.

11. the foreigner and christian is not a popular person in arabia. however friendly and informal the treatment of yourself may be, remember always that your foundations are very sandy ones. wave a sherif in front of you like a banner and hide your own mind and person. if you succeed, you will have hundreds of miles of country and thousands of men under your orders, and for this it is worth bartering the outward show.

12. cling tight to your sense of humour. you will need it every day. a dry irony is the most useful type, and repartee of a personal and not too broad character will double your influence with the chiefs. reproof, if wrapped up in some smiling form, will carry further and last longer than the most violent speech. the power of mimicry or parody is valuable, but use it sparingly, for wit is more dignified than humour. do not cause a laugh at a sherif except among sherifs.

13. never lay hands on an arab; you degrade yourself. you may think the resultant obvious increase of outward respect a gain to you, but what you have really done is to build a wall between you and their inner selves. it is difficult to keep quiet when everything is being done wrong, but the less you lose your temper the greater your advantage. also then you will not go mad yourself.

14. while very difficult to drive, the bedu are easy to lead, if: have the patience to bear with them. the less apparent your interferences the more your influence. they are willing to follow your advice and do what you wish, but they do not mean you or anyone else to be aware of that. it is only after the end of all annoyances that you find at bottom their real fund of goodwill.

15. do not try to do too much with your own hands. better the arabs do it tolerably than that you do it perfectly. it is their war, and you are to help them, not to win it for them. actually, also, under the very odd conditions of arabia, your practical work will not be as good as, perhaps, you think it is.

16. if you can, without being too lavish, forestall presents to yourself. a well-placed gift is often most effective in winning over a suspicious sheikh. never receive a present without giving a liberal return, but you may delay this return (while letting its ultimate certainty be known) if you require a particular service from the giver. do not let them ask you for things, since their greed will then make them look upon you only as a cow to milk.

17. wear an arab headcloth when with a tribe. bedu have a malignant prejudice against the hat, and believe that our persistence in wearing it (due probably to british obstinacy of dictation) is founded on some immoral or irreligious principle. a thick headcloth forms a good protection against the sun, and if you wear a hat your best arab friends will be ashamed of you in public.

18. disguise is not advisable. except in special areas, let it be clearly known that you are a british officer and a christian. at the same time, if you can wear arab kit when with the tribes, you will acquire their trust and intimacy to a degree impossible in uniform. it is, however, dangerous and difficult. they make no special allowances for you when you dress like them. breaches of etiquette not charged against a foreigner are not condoned to you in arab clothes. you will be like an actor in a foreign theatre, playing a part day and night for months, without rest, and for an anxious stake. complete success, which is when the arabs forget your strangeness and speak naturally before you, counting you as one of themselves, is perhaps only attainable in character: while half-success (all that most of us will strive for; the other costs too much) is easier to win in british things, and you yourself will last longer, physically and mentally, in the comfort that they mean. also then the turks will not hang you, when you are caught.

19. if you wear arab things, wear the best. clothes are significant among the tribes, and you must wear the appropriate, and appear at ease in them. dress like a sherif, if they agree to it.

20. if you wear arab things at all, go the whole way. leave your english friends and customs on the coast, and fall back on arab habits entirely. it is possible, starting thus level with them, for the european to beat the arabs at their own game, for we have stronger motives for our action, and put more heart into it than they. if you can surpass them, you have taken an immense stride toward complete success, but the strain of living and thinking in a foreign and half-understood language, the savage food, strange clothes, and stranger ways, with the complete loss of privacy and quiet, and the impossibility of ever relaxing your watchful imitation of the others for months on end, provide such an added stress to the ordinary difficulties of dealing with the bedu, the climate, and the turks, that this road should not be chosen without serious thought.

21. religious discussions will be frequent. say what you like about your own side, and avoid criticism of theirs, unless you know that the point is external, when you may score heavily by proving it so. with the bedu, islam is so all-pervading an element that there is little religiosity, little fervour, and no regard for externals. do not think from their conduct that they are careless. their conviction of the truth of their faith, and its share in every act and thought and principle of their daily life is so intimate and intense as to be unconscious, unless roused by opposition. their religion is as much a part of nature to them as is sleep or food.

22. do not try to trade on what you know of fighting. the hejaz confounds ordinary tactics. learn the bedu principles of war as thoroughly and as quickly as you can, for till you know them your advice will be no good to the sherif. unnumbered generations of tribal raids have taught them more about some parts of the business than we will ever know. in familiar conditions they fight well, but strange events cause panic. keep your unit small. their raiding parties are usually from one hundred to two hundred men, and if you take a crowd they only get confused. also their sheikhs, while admirable company commanders, are too 'set' to learn to handle the equivalents of battalions or regiments. don't attempt unusual things, unless they appeal to the sporting instinct bedu have so strongly, unless success is obvious. if the objective is a good one (booty) they will attack like fiends, they are splendid scouts, their mobility gives you the advantage that will win this local war, they make proper use of their knowledge of the country (don't take tribesmen to places they do not know), and the gazelle-hunters, who form a proportion of the better men, are great shots at visible targets. a sheikh from one tribe cannot give orders to men from another; a sherif is necessary to command a mixed tribal force. if there is plunder in prospect, and the odds are at all equal, you will win. do not waste bedu attacking trenches (they will not stand casualties) or in trying to defend a position, for they cannot sit still without slacking. the more unorthodox and arab your proceedings, the more likely you are to have the turks cold, for they lack initiative and expect you to. don't play for safety.

23. the open reason that bedu give you for action or inaction may be true, but always there will be better reasons left for you to divine. you must find these inner reasons (they will be denied, but are none the less in operation) before shaping your arguments for one course or other. allusion is more effective than logical exposition: they dislike concise expression. their minds work just as ours do, but on different premises. there is nothing unreasonable, incomprehensible, or inscrutable in the arab. experience of them, and knowledge of their prejudices will enable you to foresee their attitude and possible course of action in nearly every case.

24. do not mix bedu and syrians, or trained men and tribesmen. you will get work out of neither, for they hate each other. i have never seen a successful combined operation, but many failures. in particular, ex-officers of the turkish army, however arab in feelings and blood and language, are hopeless with bedu. they are narrow minded in tactics, unable to adjust themselves to irregular warfare, clumsy in arab etiquette, swollen-headed to the extent of being incapable of politeness to a tribesman for more than a few minutes, impatient, and, usually, helpless without their troops on the road and in action. your orders (if you were unwise enough to give any) would be more readily obeyed by beduins than those of any mohammedan syrian officer. arab townsmen and arab tribesmen regard each other mutually as poor relations, and poor relations are much more objectionable than poor strangers.

25. in spite of ordinary arab example, avoid too free talk about women. it is as difficult a subject as religion, and their standards are so unlike our own that a remark, harmless in english, may appear as unrestrained to them, as some of their statements would look to us, if translated literally.

26. be as careful of your servants as of yourself. if you want a sophisticated one you will probably have to take an egyptian, or a sudani, and unless you are very lucky he will undo on trek much of the good you so laboriously effect. arabs will cook rice and make coffee for you, and leave you if required to do unmanly work like cleaning boots or washing. they are only really possible if you are in arab kit. a slave brought up in the hejaz is the best servant, but there are rules against british subjects owning them, so they have to be lent to you. in any case, take with you an ageyli or two when you go up country. they are the most efficient couriers in arabia, and understand camels.

27. the beginning and ending of the secret of handling arabs is unremitting study of them. keep always on your guard; never say an unnecessary thing: watch yourself and your companions all the time: hear all that passes, search out what is going on beneath the surface, read their characters, discover their tastes and their weaknesses and keep everything you find out to yourself. bury yourself in arab circles, have no interests and no ideas except the work in hand, so that your brain is saturated with one thing only, and you realize your part deeply enough to avoid the little slips that would counteract the painful work of weeks. your success will be proportioned to the amount of mental effort you devote to it.

Having just come back from Dubai, I would definaltely have to say, Dubai is a waste of money and time. Its by far the most expensive place for womanizing, food, and hotel accomidation. Women there are pros, money hungry (costs about 350 USD) for one nite. Hotel accomidation starts at 130++ USD per nite minimum and can go a lot higher for a normal 4 or 5 stars. Food is also overaly priced , about 50 dollars per preson for dinner with no drinks. So to have a "good time" you need to spend about 700 USD a nite. So I would recommend far better places to visit like Thailand, Ukraine, Brazil, where you would go a long way for that amount of cash per day (in thailand 750 USD would last you a week) you end up spending in Dubai. As for places to visit for pick up , you have to pay 30 USD to enter which is also a total rip off.

Definately no more Dubai for me!

Skyway,

Where were you staying and who were you associating with ?

I can't believe that you RTFF before you visited DXB. If you had, you would have realized that the women could be 'had' for a great deal less than $350 (AED 1320). You must have been 'taken' as a complete novice if you paid those sort of prices.

Yes, Thailand is cheaper, but for those living in or around the Arabian peninsular, Dubai is still a good value option, especially compared with the alternatives. Besides, flying to Thailand is about AED 2000 ($530) more expensive that flying to Dubai from Bahrain, and it's only 45 minutes as opposed to around six hours. Therefore it really isn't an option to fly to Thailand for the weekend.

As posted in the past by the 'kings' of Dubai, on this very forum, the city is not a place to go specifially for mongering. It does have its charm if you happen to pass through on business and wish to indulge. You seem to have fallen for all the typical tourist traps, and like any novice let loose in an new city, have been looked upon as an easy mark.

As for being charged $30 to get into a venue. Again, if you had taken the trouble to RTFF, you would have realized that there are other places rather than Cyclone, Premier and Rumours (all of which charge entrance, but do tend to have a reasonable class of tart) in which to pick up willing females.

I believe a little research is always needed before you visit a new country. If you had taken the time, you may not have had such an experience that seems to have embittered you towards Dubai. RTFF, it always helps before you get to a new city or country. You seem to have ignored this very basic rule/advice, so I really don't have much sympathy for your plight. It's interesting to hear from you, but please, if you're stupid enough to be ripped off to that extent, do we really want to hear about your whingeing problems ?

I'm back there on business during GITEX next month and will, hopefully, meet back up with fellow mongers then. In the meantime, I'm indulging in the delights of TC's in Bahrain.

On, On,

Expatcat.

Yes Expat I did read the research posted here. Now I did not only visit Cyclon but went to York, Ramada, the whole hoeing seen. All the good looking hoes where in Cyclon, and BTW 1000 Drhms is equal to 350 USD. And thats how much those hoes cost at cyclon. If you go looking at other places you would pay less like 350 or 500 Dhms but you get crap!. So again, my point "the place is overpriced". As for the plane fare, and traveling from anywhere in the Mid East to Dubai costs now a hundred dollars less than to BKK via emirartes. Furhter to add, Hotels, god "they charge extra" to having the hoe stay with you. I stayed at the Grand Hyatt (big mistake), your hoe needs to have a passport to enter the hotel (no photo copies allowed) this was sad news. I was at hoeing joints asking for passport first before even discussing price. Last point, hoeing in Syria, Egypt, Israel, or lebanon is far cheaper and entertaining. So once again point being for a week of hoeing Dubai is a waste of money!.

Students: Poster child example of the REAL costs of NOT doing your homework.

1st: Thanks, Skyway, for posting your bad experience (think you'd agree it's what NOT to do). But as ExpatCat has written, a bit of research will save actual money.

Hotels: Are NOT a good deal here. It's not Bangkok; no oversupply. For sure, for 1/3 to 1/2 of the price here, I can easily get a better hotel in BKK. Believe some members have gotten reasonable deals on the web. [SteveStx, any suggestions?]

Food: If you eat IN the hotel, you will pay the 4 / 5 star prices. Good food, but again, I agree with you, overpriced. Every mall has a food court; can get some very reasonable food there (25 dhs - $7usd). Not elegant, but, cost effective. Also chains here; I like Chili's; $15usd, including soft drink. Hint: if a restaurant serves alcohol, it WILL be expensive; that's the way it is here.

Clubs: Yes, top-line like Cyclone, others, do charge fee to get in. But there are others that don't (HOWEVER, there is racial prejudice here - whites get in free, non-whites don't. But even there, at least the entrance fee includes 1 or 2 drinks).

Too late for you to read, but, here is my description of Cyclone:
http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=381519&postcount=3028

And here is one from Seaview, the night before:
http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=381253&postcount=3025

Now, these came too late for you, but MANY others from a number of different members. Take Piper (please!): He was quoted 1000 from a girl out of Amnesia (high end club); he got her for 300 (that's dhs; $82usd). Granted, Piper is young, handsome, and silver-tongued, qualities I never had.

But even I, by doing some reading, can tell the difference between list and actual price (see translations below). I could easily have paid $350usd (1300 dhs) last night. I also believe I could have had a very nice time, chinese or CIS, for 700 ($190), maybe less, depending on how soon to closing; that's LT. But 700 is out of my price range. My ceiling, 500 dhs; $137usd. OK, not top of the line, but certainly you can get some very cute ones for that.

Seaview (or York, or Imperial), 500 dhs is a GOOD price. I know tonight, for example, I will be pulling a 10 from Seaview (OK, in MY eyes, but at least an 8.5 in non-biased ones). Guaranteed (OK, she's pre-booked). But still, I found her... and that's LT: normally, she comes over, fixes dinner, we'll watch some tv, then to the bedroom for as many shots as I can crank out (OK, less than I'd like, but 2), sleep, then a morning wakeup (I'm like an OLD battery; takes time to recharge) before she goes home mid/late morning. I get my pipes AND my kitchen cleaned, even leftovers for lunch.

It's not Bangkok. However, what dubai does have is more variety: for me, the Big 4 of game (Chinese, Caucasian CIS, Asian CIS [aka -stanis], and African). There are, so I've heard, Philipinas, Indians, Lebanese, Moroccan... but I don't go to places where they are. I'll stick with the Big 4.

Skip the very last page of this thread (general info), and look at pages (Last-1)
http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=302095&postcount=14

and (Last-2)
http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=365904&postcount=31

Not just my posts (the above written with a lot of help from others), but they are a convient place to START. After all, the FULL general info thread is only 4 pages.

(from the above)
translations
where you come from - as paychecks are based on nationality, used to gauge size of your wallet
how long you stay dubai - can I quote you the tourist price, or do I have to use the resident one
where you stay - also used to gauge size of wallet, potential problems/overhead of going with you, and to figure in charges for travel time
what's your name - well, have to call you something, Habeebee
Then read the last 20 pages on the Dubai thread. Does take some time, but, the info there is worth something. Prices are difficult to qualify as MANY variables, but certainly a range can be gleened.

Like I say, dubai is not cheap. It is marketed as a tourist destination, but that's HIGH-END tourists; no backpackers/budget travellers welcome. I would not come here as a tourist. But as ExpatCat says, if you're here on business, or work in the region (you're making good money with FEW chances to spend it), then dubai can be enticing. For $350usd, you can get a drop-dead gorgeous lady; for $110-$137usd, a VERY cute one. I've also had a good time for $27usd (NOT a looker, but excellent service). I've also heard can be had for less, but I don't go there (that's the metaphysical there).

FOR ME, if I had a 3 day weekend and was in the region: dubai. For a full week, Bangkok.

One last thing. I don't have any experience with Ukraine or Brazil. However, I did have a friend who went to Rio. Sitting in a sidewalk cafe, near beach, having a beer. A street-scum walks up, picks up his beer from the table, takes a couple of glugs, then puts the bottle back, giving my friend a "what the f*ck you going to do about it" look, before walking off. THAT would NEVER happen here. With common sense, dubai is extremely safe.
=========================
Math lesson: dirham is FIXED to the usd; 3.65/3.67 depending if you are selling/buying.

1000dhs/3.65 = $273.97 (of course, that is at a bank/use your own atm card, etc.).

But given your numbers: 1000dhs/350usd = 2.857 dhs/usd; where DID you change? I can only see that rate from the girl HERSELF (good business that!)

But I do encourage others to follow Skyway's lead: MORE FOR ME (beauty being in the eye of the beholder).

Oh, and the "hoes"? Well, MY experience is, you treat her with respect, you get an oh so much better time. Attitude does cut BOTH ways.

I would also agree that Dubai is not the place to come soley for CHEAP P4P - for sure Bangkok is cheaper - but only if your into Thai's.

In terms of Hotels, in many months at present it is a case of just being able to get a room booked and confirmed. I have heard of many cases of people claiming to have a reservation but the hotel not getting anything.

For regulars, you will have already established your own way of getting a reservation (through a company, contact or being an established "repeater").

Newbies should book through a company (who will have a special rate agreed however this assumes you are here for business as well.). If you don't have that channel - and want to try on-line, use those agents who can give you an instant online confirmation. Many rouge agents will "get back to you in 24 hours" - avoid these guys - you will already have given your credit card details with no knowledge of what they are being used for.

Lastly try calling direct - the rates are generally not that much more expensive than what you will be able to obtain online at that point in time and you will have the security of knowing the hotel has given you directly a confirmation number - little chance of this getting screwed up through 3 or 4 agents.

Hope this helps

OK, so Dubai is out for me in terms of long term hoeing (yes I do treat the ladies well and even take some out for dinner in Dubia (took)) anyhow, I think for me Dubai is on my shit list. Now, having been to BKK in Jan / Feb / June and July, I am thinking about hitting Rio this coming NOV / DEC. Any advise on what to expect there? And how does the place compare with BKK? help on the matter is greatly appreciated!.

Students: ... Take Piper (please!): He was quoted 1000 from a girl out of Amnesia (high end club); he got her for 300 (that's dhs; $82usd).

Granted, Piper is young, handsome, and silver-tongued, qualities I never had.

Bravo - thanks, but you flatter me (except for the "take Piper Please!" bit ) now I feel like I'm your wife!!

Alas, I have only two out of the three qualities you attribute me. :)

Negotiating a reasonable price isn't too difficult. There are a fewfactors that increase chances of success in bringing unrealistically high pricesdown very quickly.

OK, so Dubai is out for me in terms of long term hoeing (yes I do treat the ladies well and even take some out for dinner in Dubia (took)) anyhow, I think for me Dubai is on my shit list.Anyone can have a run of bad luck/poor experiences. A week later, if nothing else, they do make for a good story.

Dubai has any number of possibilities. If you are inclined, there is a car rental agency that will rent you a Ferrari, about $500usd/day. But I don't need a marque name to get me to my destination. I'm happy to use any number of other car rental agencies that have nice models: comfortable seats, good sound system, peppy performance, nice ride. Granted, it may not be a striking car, BUT, a LONG, LONG, LONG way from some clapped-out junker; think sporty Lexus, tricked-out Mini. You want to drive that flash auto; go for it, but you will pay for the privilege; that car knows its market worth. For me, given a weekly driving habit, I'm very happy with the more prevalent models (notice I did not say Common). But EVERY car has its own personality, and ANY car can have a dead battery once in awhile.

OK, enough of the car analogy.

As to taking her out to dinner: the best places I know were provided by a Kirgie I'd pull regularly. She knew any number, so, when I'd ask, she was a regular Michellen guide. Dinners were expensive; $70usd for 2. But, decent food, and very nice atmosphere, and a lot more fun having a young lovely sitting at your table than just you and the day's Gulf News at some food court. Have found that CIS are better at this than chinese, unless you want to know a good chinese restaurant.

So, no guarantee's. The Dxb overhead (hotel, food, etc.) is not cheap, nor is legit entertainment (i.e., drinking in the bar). Compared to BKK, Philipines, etc., P4P not cheap. But this is not SE Asia; it's the MIDDLE EAST. Compared to other countries in the region, there is no comparison. So, if work brings you to the region, then, worth a stop-over.

I'd hope, Skyway, that someday, passing through, you might give dxb another chance. It is a fun place, especially given its location.

All: If you're looking for a $40usd/night nice hotel, $3usd beer, and a $100usd/night stunner, dxb is NOT the place. You WILL be disappointed. However, if the boys in the office are laughing their asses off because you've been delegated to be the "stuckee" to go to some conference "over there", in the Middle East, then just bite your tongue and don't smile. You can have fun. Just like I don't think about what that box of Kellog's corn flakes costs me here as compared to "someplace else", I don't really compare prices. If you want to indulge, you can, and if care is exercised, it is reasonable (not cheap, but reasonable).

Piper: No, you're too hairy to be my wife (and I think you found the ONE chinese with hairy legs here).

If you go looking at other places you would pay less like 350 or 500 Dhms but you get crap!.I beg to differ. There are some very attractive girls in this price range if you care to look. Tastes will vary but CRAP?

I would never use that adjective to describe another human being. I have never paid more then 500AED, usually much less and I have only had one experience that could be described as Crap in the past year, - and its a good sample - I pull once or twice a week and I am here around 30 weeks a year.

I agree coming to Dubai solely for P4P (or a regular vacation) is an expensive option, but I do take exception to your remark.

One CIS girl on my "squad" says she gets 1500 AED from one regular for ST. That is probably her opening gambit these days. She is one I pay the high end of my ST scale to, but always get at least two hours. An she is happy with that. They will all fly a kite to start off with.

Very accurate info there, Piper. Thanks. I recently did stop by St. George's but went a tad too early. There were a few Arabic women on the ground floor but didn't stck around long enough to see em all stroll in. Opted to the Cyclone. Anywho, I would like for anyone to shed some light on this subject. Ramadan is coming upon us for the Middle East beginning 4 October. My question is, does Mongering continue to go on during this "Holy" period in Dubai? So if I decided to go to dubai dring Ramadan would I have the same freelance experience in mongering as my previous visit?

My question is, does Mongering continue to go on during this "Holy" period in Dubai? So if I decided to go to dubai dring Ramadan would I have the same freelance experience in mongering as my previous visit?Actually, there's a pre-ramadan roundup, currently going on to cull out the easy catches. The major countries send in extra flights to evacuate their ladies (good chance to see the Antov-225 for the CIS). The chinese just throw on a bunch of extra flights via their regular carriers. The african countries seem to pool their resources to charter the extra aircraft.

Every bar is closed; anyone enquiring as to "opening hours" is taken away for "re-education enlightenment". And be especially cautious about Cyclone; it's set up as a honey trap: they actually use cardboard cutouts of women inside the patio to lure passing drivers to stop and take a look. If you try and use the excuse of "going to American hospital emergency ward", you had better have a bleeding passenger (common knowledge if a backseat passenger smashes himself in the mouth to cause said bleeding, EVERYONE in the car owes him a beer post-ramadan for his self-sacrifice. If the rear seat passenger is punched by another, then only the "puncher" has to buy).

Once ramadan starts, Saudi Arabia contributes by sending 2 divisions of Mutawa as street cleaners; 1/2 division goes to Abu Dhabi, the majority to Dubai (have heard their saying for this year is "There's a reason why our citizens go to London on holiday").

Well, that's what I've heard. What I've EXPERIENCED, as reported here, every year, life goes on, just a bit more subdued.

Fellow Mongers

I am receiving an inordinate amount of PMs regarding the contact numbers etc for Filipinas. I do not mind assisting mongers in their quest for tight, shaved Filipina pussy but there are some suggestions, guidelines and rules for those asking. I just say this so hopefully it will help those asking in the future (and me from having a seriously clogged up PM box!).

Suggestions and Guidelines

1. Please read the forum reports for Dubai or Abu Dhabi. I am in Abu Dhabi so know a little of Dubai but not as much as some of the more experienced contributors such as Piper1, 11Bravo, JSF and Sporadic.
2. Reading the reports may point you in the right direction before you PM someone or post your questions.
3. Remember, Abu Dhabi (the capital) is about an hour and half from Dubai so if asking about any of the Filipinas I know, they will outcall in Dubai but it will cost you. Perhaps try and find a Filipina or two in Dubai first before trying the Abu Dhabi stock! It will be cheaper.

Rules (regarding PMs to me etc).

As I said, I am willing to help and have done so already with some forum members but they follow the rules that I PM them which are basically:

1. If I ask you to PM me to my personal email address (that I always give) please do so-it is easier than using ISG at times.
2. I normally like to meet the person(s) face to face and speak on mobile so I know you are genuine etc. I do want to upset the ladies and ruin my reputation as a nice man who introduces nice guys. I have to live here after a visitor has gone and want to continue doing so knowing I can call on these girls at times when I am horny!!
If you meet the girl(s), please treat them well, like adults and GFs as they like that and they will give you good service.
3. If you cannot be bothered to try the above, do not bother to ask me pleae because I am unlikely to help.

OK, my ranting finished

Keep hard and horny

My only complaint is, why restrict your comments to "If you like Filipinas please read... " I think it's common sense before ANY PM or post.

Likewise, as in the banking industry, those born-yesterdays, with no credit history (credibility), as demonstated by past history (postings), are difficult to vet. So a face-to-face or at least a mobile conversation is not unreasonable.

Some "new to THIS thread" punters might be thinking that the UAE group is a closed circle, unfriendly to outsiders, stuffed-shirt group (no, only me) because, UNLIKE their home thread, here: Contact numbers not posted Locations (houses, MP's) not posted Non-masked facial photos discouraged Contact numbers not freely/immediately exchanged by PM Locations not freely/immediately exchanged by PM Requesting of bone-fides before info is passed. Some outsiders might suggest (they have) that we want to keep all the girls for ourselves (yea, right, as if that was possible). Believe it or not, those that live here DO know the local scene, and the reasons for certain actions.

Take a look at these 2 interesting letters in today's Gulf News, 9 Nov 2005, page 9. One right below the other. Not saying there's a correlation, but...
Bold emphasis is mine.

Point of paranoia
I am all for protection and human rights, but I am sick of all this extra protection women demand all the time. They make it sound like it is the Dark Ages. Yes! I voted no in your poll, and the protection women enjoy here is good enough! It is getting to the point of paranoia.

I wouldn't want the UAE becoming the United States, where normal situations are easily misconstrued as sexual harassment. If you want to fight something clamp down on street prostitution. It is the main reason why decent women get harassed.Discreet is the key. When it's not... civilians get annoyed.

Blame the girls too
I refer to the news item "Harassment by teenagers takes fun out of shopping in malls" ( Gulf News, October 29). The teenage boys are not solely responsible, blame the girls too.

The girls too want to talk to boys, but not in the presence of their family members. When their family members are away from them, boys and girls exchange phone numbers.Ah, the dreaded "exchanging phone numbers", certain to lead to society's downfall.

If merely talking with a girl has been limited, what happens when the guy has an opportunity to actual have sex? And his view of the girl's standing when she provides him this opportunity? With attitudes like this, is it no wonder that wg's must be extra careful when dealing with guys with this upbringing? Or why one should use discretion when passing contacts?

Despite my earlier plea I am still getting a number of PMs asking for contacts. Please re the report I posted a week back (just scroll down......).

And another thing.... Dubai is not Abu Dhabi!

Abu Dhabi (the capital) is around 90 minutes drive from Dubai so as I said earlier I know AD not Dubai - there are plenty of more experienced guys who can help for Dubai.

I will not go into the merits of Abu Dhabi over Dubai as I do not wish to use valuable forum space!

So the morale is ....RTFF!

Thought I would share this with you regarding Barcelona where I am/or will about to leave. Read the forum, the threads, did the RTFF and had a great time (Piper, I managed to escape!!). Have to think with the head (the one above the neck!) as the constant stroking and attention to all things pork while standing at the bar was very enjoyable but a tad distracting at times (as was the lack of clothes on all the WGs, and I mean lack!). Hope have posted the thread properly, if not apologies. Lovely exotic African (Piper you would be in lust ...again), great rack, great body, firm buttocks and very tight Greek....am in lust myself!

One day there should be UAE Mongers weekend away to place like Barcelona, lots of culture but more importantly, lots of WGs and very attractive and horny ones too who wear very little material on their fine bodies - not that UAE is without them as well but variety is the spice of life etc.

This is a question for all UAE locals. While in Dubai 2 weeks ago, I tried to access ISG from my laptop, and was blocked. A notice came up saying the site went against the cultural, religious bla bla bla of the UAE, and was not accessible.

the PM of Thailand has declared war on "internet pornography", and there was a few days back a mention of it on the board. Can some of you explain how you circumvent the censorship? I am no computer nerd, but how does someone block websites from being accessible from a specific geographic location?

Obviously, even if they are successful, it will not kill the Thailand board, as it will be accessible from outside of the country, but will they be able to block it so that people inside the country cannot access it, and how does one go about getting around it ?

thank you

1ball - the UAE threads have died off dramatically since ISG was discovered by the UAE's monopoly telecom provider about a year or so ago. The blocker program automatically blocks any site with words like sex, prostit.. , etc. And don't even try and look up a recipe for cooking chicken breasts.

I use an anonymous proxy-bypass program called jap.exe - it's a free download, although it can be slow at times.

Even proxy-bypass programs are banned here. (But my office is in one of the few small areas of Dubai where the ban doesn't apply).

Hope that helps.

A notice came up saying the site went against the cultural, religious bla bla bla of the UAE, and was not accessible.IF you use the local ISP, etis**at, you need some way to hide the actual web address from them. There are a few areas (believe 1 residential area, plus some free zones) in town where etis**at is not the ISP, or at least they do not apply filters.

Some, like Piper, use anonymous proxy-bypass programs (sometimes successfully, other times not). There are ways, but it is a struggle keeping ahead of the thought police.

On my next trip to india (from ny), I am planning to fly emirates and take a stop over in Dubai. A few questions for those experienced in the area:

1. I love the arabian culture. Old forts, kebabbs on the road side, old bazaars etc. I thought UAE was like any modern metro but the tourist web sites talk of old stuff, not sure if they are real or a disney type new creation with old theme. Is UAE a place to sample the old world charm ?

2. How expensive is Dubai compared to say New York City? ( I can genereally get by in NYC on $125-$150 for the hotel + $50 for food etc)

3. For a complete newbie to the region, what is a better base - Dubai or Abu Dhabi? or both?

4. I was originally planning a Friday, Saturday, Sunday night stop over. After reading the tourist boards, it looks like place has a lot to offer - sight seeing. What would be the recommendation?

5. For mongering, is it as eazy as going to a club and picking up or its more via contacts?

6. Are there any members of the board planning to be in UAE Jan 13-jan 16? I will love to meet up and get local info.

Thank You,

R21Hi R21,

1. there are one or two musieums here, plus the desert to sample. As you say some of it is 'restored' architechture, so do not expect real old stuff here.

2. This is the peak season here (if there is one - winter sun and all that) You will be arriving durring the Dubai Shopping Festivel. The town will be heaving with shoppers and hotels may be full. Best bet to shop around for hotels. You may be able to pick up something in the price bracket you mention. As for food, it is slightly cheaper here and the quality is better.

3. Base your self in Dubai (more cosmopolitan) and have a day trip to AD. There is more to do in Dubai. (Wicked roger may dispute that!).

4. Every day is open for turist so there are no issues with layover days.

5.Every night is party night. But Thursday is the peak so prices for mongering is higher. It is as easy as going to a super market (Cyclone) and taking your pick.

6. I will be around those days (I think) so happy to chat, look me up.

Happy new year to one and all!

1.Is UAE a place to sample the old world charm ?
IMHO, No. It has all the charm of a Walmart. Disney all the way when it comes to tradition.

2. How expensive is Dubai compared to say New York City? ( I can genereally get by in NYC on $125-$150 for the hotel + $50 for food etc)
Similar. you can get by much cheaper, or spend much more, up to you.

3. For a complete newbie to the region, what is a better base - Dubai or Abu Dhabi? or both?
I would vote DXB

4. I was originally planning a Friday, Saturday, Sunday night stop over. After reading the tourist boards, it looks like place has a lot to offer - sight seeing. What would be the recommendation?
Three days would do it for me

The clubs are packed with willing selections. Nobody needs contacts here, it is a "grow your own" situation

Basically just a repeat of Sporadic's advice.

1. Old world charm: go to Oman. Forts that look like something from the french foreign legion. Old bazaars. UAE (Dubai) is all shopping malls. Old world "charm" evaporates fast when you're stuck in a traffic jam on a winding 1 way road through old town (Diera). OK, there is the empty quarter... take a 1 day tour if interested. But as far as history goes, not much here (or has survived). Even the best scenery are the malls (indoor snow skiing!). For nature, again, go to Oman.

2. Never been to NYC, but would say comparable. Drinking WILL be expensive - $6usd - $8usd for a beer at a bar (stock up on whatever you drink at the ARRIVALS duty free). Hotels vary in price, but generally expensive; depends on what kind of a deal you can get (stopover package?), and what conventions/exhibitions are in town.

3. Abu Dhabi = Topeka, Kansas. Dubai = NYC. Up to you. If nothing else, see how many pages there are for the dubai thread, compared to the abu dhabi thread.

4. Sightseeing? Maybe if you've never been to the Middle East before, but as said in #1, Oman is the place. Or Yemen (although those yipping Yemeni's can be a bit dicey at times). On the other hand, UAE is better than Kuwait. The architecture (modern) is interesting, the landscaping impressive, a stroll through a mall interesting (I never buy; MSRP is the norm here).

Other attraction (especially for european snowbirds) is the winter weather and the beaches here. I can't think of anything that would take more than 3 days to see (that's legit tourist attractions).

5. As often sited (suggest reading posts of distinction thread references), you can find more action than you can possibly handle in the CITY bars.

6. Best way to get info is to read the posts of distinction thread references, plus the last 20 pages (or any 20 pages) of the dubai thread.

Not to get into the "mad dogs and Englishmen" thing, I am constantly amazed by the draw to warm weather. Looks like Dubai offers all that i am seeking for this trip. I am a history and culture buff and was planning for Egypt but that did not happen. But i fly on business to India a few times a year and usually take a stop over in europe.

This time my travel agent recommended to fly Emirates and try the Dubai Shopping Festival. On my initial reading on the net on Dubai i was all excited by the possible historical connection. But i will tone it down based on the advise posted. And think more like planning a NYC visit. Yemen / Oman will have to come in on a later trip but i like the suggestion.

- I will be in Friday morning on jan 13 and out Monday Afternoon jan 16. What is considered a weekend there? Thursday+ Friday or the usual Saturday+Sunday? Or does it really matter to a tourist, what is weekend (shops and places of tourist interest i assume would be open all days. So would the pussy hunting grounds.).

- 11Bravo mentioned malls selling at MRSP. Does that mean all that talk about Dubai being the cheapest place to buy electronics is just a marketing gimmick?

- I need to buy some gifts for friends and family in india. Mostly digital cameras, camcorders etc. Are there any websites of Dubai malls that can give me an idea of prices over Best Buy (US retailer) or Buy.com?

Correct. This time around I am not in the beach mood. Also I am on my way to south India, plenty of beaches there. I just wanted to include some other country in this trip to India with a possibility of history / culture or mongering. ( All being important in their own way )
-----------------------------------------------------------
I presumed that beaches were not on his list. I will never downplay the draw from those who were born in the land of hope and glory to a warm climate. Having lived in Blighty for many years, I too appreciated anything but leaden clouds and rain.

Not to get into the "mad dogs and Englishmen" thing, I am constantly amazed by the draw to warm weather. For the record, it is not warm in DXB, it is HOT, and HUMID most of the year, and as a friend from the subcontinent responded when I asked how he dealt with DXB summers... "We sweat and suffer, just like you."

If you've never been to egypt, then go, at least once in your life. Easily a couple of weeks.

This time my travel agent recommended to fly Emirates and try the Dubai Shopping Festival.
Hugs and brickbats for your travel agent: hugs for suggestion of flying Emirates; brickbats for the DSF.

What is considered a weekend there?
Thursday and Friday is the weekend, though a lot only have Friday off (why Thursday nights are peak, as pointed out by Jeff6077, and the reason I avoid going out Thursdays at all costs).

Or does it really matter to a tourist, what is weekend (shops and places of tourist interest i assume would be open all days. So would the pussy hunting grounds.)
Doesn't really matter for a tourist.

For the record, a number of stores are closed Friday mornings. Malls will open Friday afternoon; some of the small shops will be closed all day Friday. As you will miss our weekend, you will also miss the weekend surcharges.

For the tourist attractions (historical, anyway), some do have family days (i.e., no single men allowed); think this would be most likely on a Friday. Others might close mid-day, reopening in the afternoon.

One thing to see is the old, restored fort museum in Bur Dubai, near the creek, if nothing else for the photos showing the development of dxb. Amazing what this place looked like just 30 years ago (read a LOT of sand). Afterwards, a good, but not unreasonable walk to Astoria Hotel and TGIT.

11Bravo mentioned malls selling at MRSP. Does that mean all that talk about Dubai being the cheapest place to buy electronics is just a marketing gimmick?
IMHO ALL PR. Or, more accurately, to paraphrase Einstein, "it's all relative". If you're coming from Europe, the chance to pick up something WITHOUT the VAT/luxury taxes can be great shopping. Coming from Africa or Russia: a LOT available here as compared to there. But, if you're in the US, you're SPOILED: cheap prices (due to legit competition), great warranties, true caring about customer satisfaction/repeat business.

As to MSRP, it becomes clear if you understand the system: a lot of stuff is imported by the same (or limited number) of wholesalers (this is NOT considered a monopoly), then distributed to small shops. So it's the same base price. You need govt permission to hold a sale. So a lot of stores will be selling the same thing for the same price (OK, maybe 5-10 dhs different, not even enough for a beer). Also, there are brand stores: e.g., Sanyo store, LG store, etc., so more difficult to comparison shop between brands (and, as THE brand store, they seem to set the price country-wide). IMHO: there is no real competition here, certainly not between stores.

This is slowly starting to change with the arrival of the hypermarkets (e.g., Carrefour). They are a good place to check for deals as they are importing themselves. However, be knowledgeable yourself. I once went to Carrefour to buy a microwave. When I asked the salesman the difference between 2 models, he actually started to read ME the ENGLISH specs on the labels taped to the demo units: "This one is 1000 watts, this one 800..." More niche stores CAN have more knowledeable salespeople (had good luck at Plug-ins City Center while shopping for an a/v receiver).

Also, some deals can be found in the souks (not the old souks of the coffee-table photo books, but just a lumping together (location wise) of small shops selling the same items). However, BEWARE. Here (in UAE), there is no consumer protection. Once you've bought it, it's YOURS (there's NO Best Buy return policies here). Problems (especially with electrical goods) will be dealt with between you and the MANUFACTURER (not the retail store).

Example: I bought an HP printer from a shop. Getting it home, it was defective OUT OF THE BOX (I do know how to set up a printer). In my naivety, I returned it to the store for an exchange. I just asked the clerk to exchange it with the printer he had in the corner; I had the receipt (just bought it 12 hours before), EVERYTHING with the original packaging. At Best Buys, trivial. He enlightened me as to my misconceptions: that was HIS printer in the corner (which he would be happy to SELL me); what I had in my hands was MY printer. It did have a warranty; I should call HP's dxb number to arrange repair. He could handle it, but would take a month to get printer from his shop across the creek to the HP repair facility (read he didn't want to do it), or it would take me 20 minutes (read 1 hour in traffic). After 3 weeks and many phone calls, I had a working printer returned from the HP distributor.

Another example: story in Gulf News about a guy who bought a NEW mobile phone. However, once home, it already had a set of numbers in it... OK, maybe from someone who had tried it out with his own sim card... but it wasn't new then, was it (as in unopened box). And, given the libel laws, the newspaper was very careful to OMIT the name of the store... (Side note: you can abuse your workers, not pay them for months at a time, the story will make the paper, but yet the company will NOT be named... otherwise, the police will ARREST the newspaper's editors...)

I need to buy some gifts for friends and family in india. Mostly digital cameras, camcorders etc. Are there any websites of Dubai malls that can give me an idea of prices over Best Buy (US retailer) or Buy.com?
The good news is, by buying here, you would be more likely to avoid compatibility issues (power: 110 vs. 220, though most now have multiple voltage adaptors; format: ntsc vs. pal; etc.) Much easier here to find multi-format systems (tv's, vcr's, etc.). But be careful about dvd players; that region coding can be a *****, and with the lower prices, not as many hacks to bypass. Be forewarned about warranties; just can't beat those US ones, though in reading some articles (e.g. Thailand), in-country offices might be less willing to honor them (as in "take it back to the US to get it fixed; we don't have the parts" as an excuse). And, it is true, some models are only sold in the US.

There are some good deals during DSF, but they are relative, and you do have to be very aware (again, THIS year's model of an a/v receiver cheaper, during DSF, than LAST year's obsolete model - MY explanation: last year's had been bought wholesale for xxx, and they WOULD get xxx + their standard markup, rather than sell it at a loss to make space).

Big stores will take credit cards; small ones, not necessarily. Most receipts will be stamped "No refunds".

A lot of big stores (and malls) will offer raffles during DSF: spend 100 (or 200) dhs, get a ticket to win some fantastic prize (SUV, etc.). Sucker's deal, if you ask me (which you didn't).

Bravo, very informative-I definitely won't be coming to Dubai for shopping, well electronics shopping.

I am in the market for a Canon 5D and Panasonic AG-DVX100BE mini DV, just the V.A.T saved on these items will pay for a ticket to the USA, the purchase tax is cream.

Cheers.

Gents,

Just on general priciples, EVERYTHING in DXB should be 12-18% cheaper than anywhere in the EU as there is no VAT. This is simply not the case.

DXB CAN be cheaper than the UK high street, but then again, continental EU is also cheaper than the UK as well.

Bargains can be found, but be aware of how much you are "saving."

Man !! you are a wealth of information. I am pretty certain now to keep dubai stop over for the experience only, not for shopping.

I will surely add the museum in Bur Dubai, showing the various stages of dubai's development. I am going to enjoy something like that a lot.

Also, the prices look expensive for cell phones in particular. Just because in USA, cell phones are tied to the phone service contracts. And most phones are free or $100 - $200 bucks off with a 2 year contract. There is no way to avoid a service contract anyway, so better buy the phone from the providor as well.

Once again, thanks for all your help.

My tickets on emirates are final. Just need to get the transit visa and the hotel booking. I should soon have something good to add to the forum.

I will surely add the museum in Bur Dubai, showing the various stages of dubai's development. I am going to enjoy something like that a lot.I do get lazy and forgetful.

It is an easy walk from the museum EXIT to Astoria and TGIT, maybe all of 4 blocks. And now, even during the day, the weather is quite nice (just had occasion to walk most of the way the other day).

You exit the fort/museum through a "new" exit (a modern addition). Just turn right and walk along the one way street (you are heading opposite the traffic). After a couple of blocks, you'll see a KFC on your left, then, on your right, Banana's Pizza (recommended). The next street to your left (t junction with the street you're on) will lead to the Astoria. If you miss it, just keep looking left, you are walking past the edge of the Astoria. TGIT open until 4pm; closes, reopens at 6pm.
---------------------------------
The one good thing about MSRP (NOT manufacturer's SUGGESTED retail price, but rather manufacturer's SPECIFIED retail price), it saves you from comparison shopping at various stores. All stores will be selling it for that price (hypermarkets MIGHT be an exception). However...

As to shopping here (experience of the last 2 days). IF the store has it, OK. However, if they don't... only a few of the minimum wage clerks will bother to call the warehouse (a lot just give you "we don't have"). Example: I was in one chain store, clerk called the warehouse, they did have, but couldn't specify when they could deliver (OK, sheik's death unforseen). Didn't buy then. 2 days later, go back. Another clerk. "We don't have that." Asked to call the warehouse, did, still "we don't have that". Same chain, different branch, "Yes, we have in warehouse." Not necessarily the fault of the clerk; he is dealing with a minimum wage clerk at the warehouse.

Any suggestion to ordering or "can you tell me when it'll be in?" is met with a puzzled look, the concept completely over their heads. Best Buy it is NOT.

And don't necessarily expect a price discount on the previous model. The concept of "discount, move it out to make space" is superceeded here by "we bought it wholesale at that price, we have our profit margin which we WILL get". I've actually found new models (with better specs) cheaper than previous models. If you don't know a newer model is available...

There are SOME exceptions, but... if you're coming from the US, you are spoiled as to customer service. My experience, the one good deal here (just due to availability) is multi-system items (tv's, vcr's). Just watch out for dvd players; it will NOT be region 1, and unless you can crack...

Been back just over a week and decided it was high time I checked out what was going on in Bur Dubai. Started with the York but was not too impressed so after a few too many Gin and Tonic's (my downfall) I headed on to the Seaview.

The Marine was busy and it looked to be a 50-50 or so ratio - excluding chaps with their girlfriends and groups of early 20something Indian lads who were paying for each drink with small change.

Not sure if the amount of Gin I already consumed would be compatable with any kind of sexual actively I busied myself watching the band and eyeing up an increased number of skirts in the sea of trousers - it didn't take long for my lad to get the better of me and found myself negotiating with a sweet, but blonde Chinese whose name was Lina that week/night/hour. She revealed she's only been here about 4 months and after a little chat it clicked. She had a great looking rack which also kept me mesmerised long enough to conclude negotiations and head off to her place which turned out to be a chinese couple's flat but they were uncharacteristicly friendly to the point where I was even offered tea, usually it's a case of slip em 50 and head off to the bedroom.

Lina started off a little shy but warmed up with a little DATY really quick and things took off nicely, finishing off with what I can only describe as the fastest BBBJ I have ever experienced (or remember in any case). The girl can really move in that department once she warms to you. After we had a nice chat which didn't turn into the sob story and she practically begged me to call her - which I will most certainly be doing as I need a sober evaluation of her.

After we had a nice chat which didn't turn into the sob story...MY experience, at least with the chinese, I have never really heard any sob stories (along the lines of Thai bar girls). Couple did mention "things"; I got the feeling they were just trying to explain to me WHY they were in this line of work rather than extract "sympathy" money.

Most realize (or SHOULD) that you are there for fun, and a sad story, no matter how true, does not contribute to the fun experience.

Although I have only been with a few there have certainly been no sob stories - although in some cases that may be due to their English being weak! CIS are a different story however, and I've had waterworks and everything more often than not (but my best sexual experience has been with CIS - that wasn't p4p though) - not exactly fun or professional considering the line of work they have chosen (But I've never met a girl that didn't do what they do because they were forced to do so)

In fact, a number of chinese will not drink anything, or only water (I always wonder if they are worried about being drugged?)

I find the chinese to be very pragmatic; no drama queens. And it's the same across the range from those who are good in english to those that can barely speak it. They have goals and plans, know how to save their money rather than fritter it away. (One had me laughing last week: she HAD gone clothes shopping. However, checking the labels, they were all made it China. She was saying, "Why would I come to dxb to buy something made in China?")

And yes, that economic imperative for a better life back home for family is compelling.

Been trying to find some really enthusiastic p4p in ad. Hit the scene rarely, but have a bad habit of picking the bad actresses. Looking for some of that great action that Wicked Roger seems to always find. Any recommendations? Friends of friends? I feel your pain. Sometimes it seems the whole world is having a GREAT time, while you've got squat.

My recommendation, if you are unsuccessful here, head straight for DNATA and buy a ticket home. Next plane out. Because, like Thailand, if you can't have a great time here, give up NOW.

OK, just a bit of 11bravo humor. I don't get paid for this, so have to derive compensation from something. SERIOUSLY:
Read the forum.
While the "Penthouse letter's" FR's are entertaining, they won't serve YOUR purpose here. They're talking about results.

You want the "Where, When, What" FR's. Find the popular places to go. You don't want the minor venues; you want major league.

In Dubai: CYR: Cyclone, York, Rockafellas.

In Abu Dhabi: a cursory look from the AD thread gives 49'ers and Alley Pally.

Hit the bar.
Having read the forum, you'll know what to expect: hours, ethnic mix, GENERAL rates.

Find HER
Best way, IMHO, is face to face. As Sporadic said, "taste is individual". My experience: just because Punter P has a great time with WG, doesn't mean you will. Individuality does matter, BOTH ways.

You want to find someone interested in marketing YOU. Doesn't matter if she approaches you first, or you approach her. Is she interested AND are you interested?

Don't get boxed in by someone you're not interested in. A polite "No thank you" should do it; remember, she may have friends you might find enjoyable. For some, the "no thank you" is seen as just an opening bargaining strategy. In those cases, a polite "You waste your time" usually gets the point across. If not, then ruder words may have to be used.

I've seen too many guys wasting time trying to "win" her over: they're trying to carry on a 2-way conversation; she's answering in monosyllables. It's not "dating". Easiest way to differentiate between disinterest and "limited English": check the body language and facial expression. If she's ignoring you... move on. You don't want her to waste your time; you don't want to waste hers.

If it's "limited English, if she's TRYING to communicate, then taking the time with her will be appreciated. Showing her a bit of understanding, speaking slow, will go a long way. If nothing else, she'll call in a friend to broker the deal.

Check the attitude
It's a business: she should be trying to sell you on herself. How enthusiastic is she? Is she laughing, joking, bit of physical contact, eye contact? I don't expect her to spend an hour with me without an "inked" contract, but I certainly expect more than a 2 minute "You want lady? Yes/No? Bye." How much interaction is there? Most of the "bad actresses" can be culled right here!

Know the price
Paying more will not necessarily get you a better time (though it may get you AND she out the door). However, paying less will generally get you... less. After all, if that's your evaluation of her, why should she try and change your opinion? Trying to bargain her down to the last dirham is not worth it (the old cliché: Penny wise, pound foolish). Remember: prices are relative to THAT market THEN. They do fluctuate.

The only guideline: how much is HER experience worth to YOU THEN.

Make the deal
Some prefer the spontaneity of "whatever" happening; more "romantic". Myself, I ask what's on the menu most times, just because I know what I'm hungry for and want to know if she'll deliver. I don't care for "negative" surprises later; neither does she.

Once the deal is made, live up to it (as long as she does). Cheating a girl effects ALL of us. Try for (wait for it... ) Pay After. My experience: most "pay after" girls will provide a good time. It's those "Pay Before" ones you have to watch out for. Not saying they won't deliver; it's just something else that goes into the "go/no go" decision.

Pleasure is a two-way street
Nothing like feeling her get naturally turned on, her own lube. Making her feel relaxed goes a LONG way. Bit of foreplay certainly helps. You want a GFE? Treat her like a GF.

Have fun
This is NOT life or death. If you don't succeed, your eyeballs will not blow out of your head due to fluid buildup. Some guys can walk into a bar, and within 15 minutes, be friends with everyone in there. That's NOT me. 3 hours later, I'll walk out, not knowing anyone. So what? I'm there for a certain purpose, and, after a number of job interviews, I only care if I've found a fun girl. Most of the time, I have.

Give something back
Write an FR, whatever style. Some prefer the "pointers" style, figuring the bedroom antics are self-evident. Some prefer the Penthouse letters style; find the mix that is right for you.

If you succeeded, then where did you go, what worked for you? If you didn't, then where did it fall apart?

Don't go out often? So what! Unless you've NEVER been out here, anyone has SOME experiences. Yes, it does take time. So? Again, a 2-way street.

Good or bad, others can learn from, be inspired by, your experiences.

Will this work for you (the generic you)? I don't know. It works for me, has been doing so for years now. No guarantees, just beautiful possibilities.

Kap - I agree - to some extent. If you're staying nearby it's worth a look (if you can get around the entry fee - I managed once, but only once).

I don't get that way much, but if I do, it's generally playing pool in Flanagan's in Palm Hotel, or a bit of fun with friends in the Indian nightclub. Then, about 1 or 2 am, Piper excuses himself to "go home", slinks past the front of Amnesia, and strikes up a witty conversation with a few of the girls leaving the place (ie: How much? Too much! 300? Let's go).

In terms of price and choice - yep, golden triangle.

From recent responses (OK, mine), some readers might think that the resident mongering group in the uae is hostile to newcomers. Well, we are. P4P prices continue to escalate, ever and ever increasing expectations from the girls, drink prices keep increasing, hotel occupancy rates remain at all time highs... there is no incentive for anyone to lower prices. Don't come; stay home.

Actually, just joking. Kind of. I think.

No really. What we are intolerant of is BS and pollution. Responses are thought out before being posted (well, in most cases). Left-clicking on a user's name, then selecting the "Find more posts by ", is an invaluable tool for vetting. If you're the type who posts NUMEROUS questions across multiple forums, with LITTLE or NO feedback, no ACTUAL FR's, then... you have no credit (credit is accepted from other countries' threads). So, unless your question is well-formed, you might not get the answer you want. This is a forum for the EXCHANGE of knowledge, not your personal info desk.

OK, so you're a newbie. Or not. Just do a little work/research yourself FIRST. This is NOT a welfare state.

Read the "Reports of Distinction" thread. There is a reason those have been put there. There is a short description of each link to direct you to the appropriate FAQ.

Upper right on each page, there is a "search this thread" link. Use it. Asking a question whose answer can easily be found by using the search tool will waste YOUR time, resulting in THE standard reply, UTFSE. Be a bit innovative with your search criteria. If one search doesn't find anything, think of another criteria (e.g., try "MP". When nothing is found, try "massage"). If you get numerous hits ("afternoon"), then at least read the initial parts on the search results page; easy to quickly filter what to follow, what to skip. Yes, some will not be appropriate, but some will. Someone who's invested some time trying (post what you've tried), will most likely find a great deal of help.

Unfortunately, there are a limited number of regular posters here. However, that also means we are familiar with what's been posted. So the "I've read all the posts, now ... where should I go to find this? " type of question where what you ask has recently been answered... again, no sympathy here.

Hotel questions? There is a FAQ referenced in the "Reports of Distinction" thread. Use it. Then, if you have any FOLLOW-UP questions...

Don't bother with flattery ("I've read ALL your posts"), then ask a question I know I've answered (or someone else has). Some of us might be old, but we're not senile (yet).

Don't waste anybody's time posting, asking for contacts. Not done HERE. Yes, where you come from, freely exchanged, a plethora of contacts. I'm sure you've given out 100's. But the 1st thing to remember is, this is HERE, not THERE. You might try a PM, but unless you are known, I wouldn't be holding my breath. Believe me, you don't need others' contacts. Plenty of chances to develop your own. Hit any of the major venues, and you will find more than you can handle, as long as you are "reasonable" (an a-list Cycloner will not be going for 100dhs LT...)

Nothing better than reading a "fresh eyes" report. Certainly don't mind answering legit questions. But when you get slammed, ask yourself, have I done my homework? We're old school here; we don't care about your self-esteem.

Who appointed me the arbiter of "correctness"? Well, hell, I did. Who better?

Given that it seems that not too many ever bother to read the general thread, perhaps a photo might entice them:

The lips you're kissing tonight, last night:

Well, the latter is of course to keep this post on topic and almost interesting to the average hard and horny reader of this site.

Thing is though, despite trying my best to search on the keyword "Fujairah" I am coming up with nothing on the place. Maybe it's my fault, though I did try the flat text view thing- apologies in advance, but hey, what the the hell.

I am thinking of setting some part of my business up in Fujariah. I am inviting PM's about the socal life there and of course mongering life there.

I want to gain a "feel" for the place. What its like to live there, bars clubs, and of course, how do you find business there?

Of course, if I have missed a link because my search skills are not up to scratch there, then please let me know.

Regards,

Mike

Why? Why did this question get an answer instead of UTFSE?

For me, 2 reasons:
1. Mike stated what he'd tried and didn't work
2. Given his previous posts (the "Find more posts by" vet), he has a lot of credit on this forum.

if I keep practising it should mean I will put out less creis for help. However the PM offer still exists for those who think they have specifics that may help me, but are not suitable for open viewing on the thread.

Don't know what the problem with the search engine was for you. Just for everybody's information I found out where I screwed up, so I thought if I posted it, then it might be useful.

Basically I searched on Forum and did get some thread results. However, when I got the results, it was only a link to the thread that contained "Fujairah" not the post.

Then I think I tried again, but did too many searches and got frustrated because I had to wait 60 seconds and probably tried something else. then I cam back and manually typed in Fujairah or some other mis-spelling instead of cutting and pasting from a known good spelling. This is always a useful thing to do, because finger typos happen all the time. You can't do anything about other peoples mis-spellings but you can save a lot of aggro by preventing your own. We all do it.

I tried to do a flat text view, but could not find the link to make it more than 1 page of reports. It was supposed to be a link in the top right corner. could be me, could be that this piece of HTML did not load. No matter.

Point is, when I found that it could and should work I tried it again and I got all the same results Bravo 11 got.

Practice makes perfect. This is something I apply to my mongering also. I have yet to attain anything close to perfection in that department therefore much more practice required Mr. DeH!

the result of all this hassle? Now I know Fujairah is a bag of shit, but I still have to go there.

Thanks all.

The default of "show results by thread" is a real pain. Of course, you can change that to "show results by post."

Having said that, it is pretty silly to have a non-useful default setting.

Mike (any relation to Olivia?),

The search engine is okay, but not user-friendly, so don't fret. I'm pretty search-savvy, and it still frustrates me.

As for Fujairah, your searches need to include the many spellings, including Fujaira, Fujeira and Fujeirah.

In terms of business and living in Fujairah - I've only been there once, but I like it (great diving, and a big international tourist trade). It's a sleepy seaside town, and very conservative by Dubai standards. There's a hell of a lot of development going on there, like most places in the UAE. Keep in mind that it's still a small town, but growing rapidly, so there are many opportunities.

Regarding mongering: low key, but I'm sure with a bit of inside knowledge (see others' posts - e.g., My Kapitan), you'd have no probs mongering there.

cheers

Here is a link on searching for a post that also includes some screenshots of where links (such as more than 1 page) are.

For the "posts on 1 page link to appear, there does have to be more reports than will fit on just one page.

Having said that, it is pretty silly to have a non-useful default setting.I find it very useful, allowing me to "think about" my query. Example: search on "Fujairah"; results returned as threads. While this is not useful, it does give me 1 minute to ponder my query string as I wait the timeout period until I can switch to "results by post". Kind of like ice hockey - make a mistake = penalty box.

While doing some research on whether clitorectomy is widely practiced in Ghana (Miss "Love it" at York last night was damned cute), I came across an academic sexology site that reports on sexual practices in countries around the world. Many pages of interesting reading. Here's a link to some extracts I posted about Bahrain (no studies in the UAE, but it is mentioned, and there are many similarites).

Oh, since you're interested - some areas of Ghana still practice clitorectomy, so I'm not sure about Miss Love It. Will have to do my own research with her soon. The report says that in Ghana, any form of oral sex is abhorred. Miss Amazon obviously hasn't read the report! ;)

If you want to read more, just google a phrase in the extracts and you should find the site.

Gulf News:

Dubai: Two men have been charged with stabbing a 48-year-old prostitute to death in her home.

The woman was found with numerous stab wounds to her neck. The men are also charged with stealing Dh100 and her mobile phone.

Dubai Public Prosecution charged the Pakistanis, identified as 22-year-old T.T. and 24-year-old A.A., with having an illicit relationship with the European woman, killing her and stealing her belongings.

A neighbour who lived in the same building in Naif noticed the woman's door was ajar. When she went in she discovered the woman's body under the bed.

Police later found two knives in the flat which they believed to be the murder weapons. It was discovered the knives were bought from Al Rolla Street in Sharjah. Police arrested T.T. and A.A. in less than 72 hours.

In their statement, the duo confessed to the charges. They said they were only planning to use the knives "to threaten the victim and not to kill her."

The Pakistanis who lived in Sharjah went to a coffee shop in Naif. They met the sex worker, went to her flat and each of them had sexual intercourse with her for Dh40.

On their second visit T.T. said he went into her studio, slept with her, took out his knife, placed it on her throat and threatened to kill her if she did not give him her money. He told police that he slashed her neck five times after she started shouting. Meanwhile, A.A. arrived and also slashed her neck.

In yesterday's hearing the Dubai Court of First Instance heard more witness accounts before the judge adjourned the session until later this month.

Alright, guess I will apologize here as gallow humour does not seem go down well on this particular board. No offense was meant and I was not attempting to trivialize the matter in the slightest. Spent the last 10 year bouncing from one 3rd world war zone / atrocity site to the next (Bosnia->Kosovo-> Sierra Leone->Bosnia->Kosovo->Bosnia->Iraq->Afghan->Iraq) and was making a joke which I see now was in bad taste for the area. Considering we all make use of a service which makes it margins on human slavery (lets get realistic, we are not getting with locals here) surprised to see such a backlash on this. Apologies to all. I have since deleted my original post for the sake of bad taste and future readers.

No problem on the PM Piper, such is your right. As I said, I most likely wouldn't have shared either. She is a cutey though and regardless thanks for the pics of her and have a good time at your upcoming party. Lomion,

I suggest that some long term members of this thread have known some WG´s who sort of became friends, certainly true in my case. If you feel abused, that was not really my intention.

I agree with you that we all tread a very thin ethical line with this issue, but I like to maintain myself firmly on the side of "good" if I can, and I do appreciate how delusional and hypocritical that may appear to some. No excuse.

Your explanation sounds reasonable to me, my "humor" is many times questionable as well.

Good luck with your job.

Moral is, maybe she's not your type anyway. Better to meet a gal in person. I don't see the need for getting contacts in Dubai. I rarely use numbers I've taken myself - I prefer the spur of the moment (I was going to say spontenaeity, but I can't spell it tonight after a few Heinekens).

Kap - I wanted to get to Regal tonight, but had a work function, then went to Henry J Beans for some pool and Savage Garden for some salsa on the way home. How was Regal? (love that place!)

Daily tidbit from Gulf News: Man accused of sleeping with prostitute 'suffers from trauma'

Dubai: A former soldier who still has "mental suffering" due to the Kosovo war is on trial for sleeping with a prostitute whom he accused of stealing his 4,000 euros (about Dh17,704).

The Dubai Public Prosecution charged the former soldier, E.O., with having an illicit relationship with the Azerbaijani, M., who was also charged with prostitution and theft.

The soldier's advocate told the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday that her client is innocent and "he was an ex-soldier who participated in the war in Kosovo, due to which he is still suffering mentally"...

E.O. denied having any relations with the woman, but was simply looking for furnished accommodation.

M. confessed that she is a sex worker and that she slept with E.O. but denied stealing his money.

She said he forgot the cash in her flat and she gave it to her boss to return it.

Asking a few newbie like questions today even though I've done a few tours. Apologies. But can I just ask, is the general principle to negotiate and get an agreement of what services will take place prior to leaving with a WG? I've often just had a chat and played it as it comes with most PRC and generally got good sex, LT, and bbbj without really talking about it.

It is a matter of personal style and prefs. I know people who negotiate every detail on the menu, others who insist on browbeating the last 25dhs off the price, other who leave with nothing more than a nod.

I suggest you know your price point, and your "must have" menu items and make sure they are clear beforehand. I know it can be a mood killer, but once out of the way, you can have a nice relaxed evening.

I personally do not negotiate menu very often, and 90% of the time, everything is fine, the other 10%, well, my problem for not clearing it up.

I prefer price and duration well understood before departure, it avoids trouble later.

YMMV

Sht100, if you want Greek I would definitely ask up front as otherwise you may be disappointed. Both MK and I have asked up front about Greek in the past so we are never let down.

For my Filipinas, they know I like Greek and the newbie is told I like and so we get that out of the way very early. Those that do not like Greek, I have no issues with and still play but I do not want them to be shocked at my suggestion nor me disappointed. Other than that 90% is a good percentage.

But can I just ask, is the general principle to negotiate and get an agreement of what services will take place prior to leaving with a WG?

I don't negotiate very detail but I always specify when the girl leaves. I have an advantage here in that my apartment door has a key lock as opposed to a latch so I lock the door and retain the key. If she decides to leave when you are asleep she will either jump over the balcony or rummage for the key and wake you. Never really a problem though.

If I want something special, eg group, I will make this clear. As for anal - yes I enjoy but its not essential however BBBJs are.

Make them relax, even the experienced ones are nervous with a new customer. Offer a drink or 5, talk and tell her what you like rather than just ripping off her clothes - same rules apply as for non P4P's except there is no doubt on the outcome.

Be tight on price in the club though. 500 is 500 not 500 plus taxi plus take away plus anything else she can think of. Of course always have the right money, they don't take credit cards or give change! There is no advantage in dollars, western union still take their cut in dollars or dirhams.

Photos always optional but always tried. Take a few non sex ones first and show her. They then start to show a bit more and off you go...

I have a ruputation in the clubs. The girls talk to each other all the time. They know I will pay, so paying up front is rarely asked for. If it is I show her all the money and give 50% now 50% when she leaves.

I also ask they put their phone on mute/meeting. Nothing worse than Russian conversations in bed with her mates, although I find calls from other guys highly amusing..

You get a feel for how it is going to go in the club. Any doubt about attitude go for another, its a business they are here to serve and there are plenty of providers.

Summarising, establish a price, respect them, be fair and pay, treat them like a lady. You will get better service that way and doors or even anus's will open!!

Gulf News, 1 April, 2006- Today the Dubai municipality announced a general amnesty and the legalization of prostitution in Dubai. Colonel M. Abaya announced the move before the U.N. human rights commission meeting in Geneva "effective immediately, prostitution will no longer be a punishable offense in Dubai" said the Colonel.

The Emirate of Dubai has decided that the human rights issues and additional factors that were taken into consideration in this decision outweigh the prevailing social norms in the Gulf.

From what I can tell though is (as its closer to Oman) it is a bit more conservative and the local Emir has banned alcohol. Lack of Alcohol, more conservative, usually means hard casual mongering. There any tourist mongering out at theEast Coast (and recommendations) or is this an exists but who you know / secret squirrel thing. If the latter, anybody want to PM me an introduction.

Although I live in Dubai, it's not a good thing to take a young lady home who is not my spouse. Can you recommend any options short of renting a hotel room? (I'm a bit cheap that way.) Do some working girls have their own place and are willing to go there? Is it recommended that I go to their place?

Any help would be welcome.

Do some working girls have their own place and are willing to go there? Is it recommended that I go to their place?Due to the increasing spiraling rents in dubai, to make space for "decent" folks, all the girls have been moved to "special" labor camps under the direction of the ministry of labor, humpa-humpa department (those buses you see, with all the curtains drawn, are their transport; quite the sight to see them unload at Cyclone). Therefore, none now have their own place. Any that tell you they do are "stings" set up by the MOBTFID (Ministry of Bust Those F***ing Infidel Dogs).

I recommend you stay at home, save your money, and RTFF.

I was arrested for drink driving on Dubai road
Just over a week ago I had a relatively small traffic accident just off Sheikh Zayed Road (nobody hurt)… I had had a drink! The police arrived and subsequently arrested me for drinking and driving.

I have spent the last week in the cells at Bur Dubai police Station wishing I could turn the clock back - YOU CANNOT. Every minute was utter torture and seemed like an hour.

My wife, in England, thinks I am the lowest form of life (“What if you had killed someone”?). My three little boys do not understand why Daddy is not home for Easter.

The purpose of this letter: -

Guys: Do not have a swift one on the way home from work if you are driving.

Ladies: Cut out this and paste it to the dashboard of his car.

DRINK + DRIVE = JAIL

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE learn from an idiot like me and do not subject your families to the unhappiness I have inflicted on mine.

Name supplied, Dubai

Most visitors take a taxi, I know. But some do rent a car. And there are us residents. Like this guy cautions, be careful about having "just one" and driving. You have a problem, you have a PROBLEM.

Of Course, RTFF is the answer, but... I suggest that with recent increased pressure on WG´s, the last place I would want to be is wherever WG´s live.

In my experience, hotels are safe, as would be your private dwelling, but WG apartments or houses could be a magnet for attention you do not want.

Though you would not be the target, if there was a raid (only takes one nosy neighbor) you would have some explaining to do as to why you were where you were.

I have spent some time in a couple "houses" and frankly, I felt quite uncomfortable (vulnerable?) and will not repeat the experience.

YMMV

Stayed in Bur Dubai.

1: Cyclone, 75 dirhams to get in. When you walk in the chinese girls are on the left and europeans on the right.

Picked up a 22yr old chinese, 600 dirhams for all night. She started by asking $1000. 00 but since competition is fierce she came down to $600. 00. Everything goes, don't know about anal, did not ask.

2: Astoria disco in bur dubai

Girls out numbered guys 10-1. Met a gorgeous 18 yr old zimbabwean, unfirtunately she did not have her passport with her. Asking $100 usd for all night.

Dubai is rocking with girls

Questions

Unfortunately, the people who need to read this: Won't Won't understand it's directed at them Will ignoreOh well, just like punting, you gotta try...

Do your homework BEFORE asking
Just like back in school, don't ask the professor a question if you haven't done your homework. Otherwise, the answer you'll most likely get is, "It's in the reading (aka UTFSE)."

"But there's 100's of posts", you say. You don't have to read the WHOLE book, you just need to find the relevent chapters.

Posts of Distinction thread.
Place to start? There is a reason WHY those posts are referenced in the Posts of Distinction thread. "But they're OLD!", I hear you say. Old maybe, but not outdated; they do stand the test of time; that's WHY they're there. They give a good overview, and DO answer a LOT of questions (venues, hotels, prices, how-to's, cautions...).

Search
There is a reason why Jackson has included search tools. It is possible to search a thread, right in the thread itself (upper right, cleverly specified as "Search This Thread"), or to search multiple threads by using the search link (top of page).

Do try alternate spellings, and be creative in your search terms.

It is also possible to download the entire thread to your own computer, and use your own text search tools (regular expressions, anyone?).

Listen
No answer is an answer, if you only listen. Yes, some of these threads have MANY posts. So, if your search doesn't return any results from ALL those posts, it just might be that:
- no one knows
- no one will pass on that type of info

Consider you own CV
If all you do is ask questions, with no FR's... then your credibility rating will be LOW.

"But how can I post FR's if I don't have any experience, and how can I get experience if my questions aren't answered?"
Follow the guidelines in the Threads of Distinction.
Read others' FR's; see how/when/where they were successful. Or how/when/where they weren't.
If you follow the suggestions, you will be successful as many novices were (and have posted about).

Contacts? Follow the suggestions and you will quickly have plenty of contacts of your own.

Don't Flood
Anyone who spends anytime at all reading here will see that most [legit] questions are answered. Post once, be patient. Believe it or not, you are NOT the center of the universe, and nobody I know gets paid for responding.
Posting the same question REPEATEDLY, or in MULTIPLE threads, DILUTES it's effectiveness, and has a tendency to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) people off, most likely the ones that could be of the greatest help.

Note: One of the more useful menus is triggered by clicking on a user's name: one of the tools available is "Find more posts by ..." VERY easy to see the quality of previous posts.

Like the search response, if you don't get an answer... see above.

Expect to do some work yourself
This is P4P 101, not kindergarten. If you need your hand held, then perhaps you should consider another hobby. If you don't get your questions answered, that's living in the real world. Use the resources here as a guide, go out, find the info yourself, and post for others. E.g., taxi drivers can be a good source of info. Hell, you might even speak the same language.

Bottom line: I don't care if: You need contacts
You don't have any contacts
All your contacts are old
You promise to post an FR if you're given some contacts
You don't have time to read the forum
You forgot what you read and don't have time now
You can't go out because you are staying with co-workers
You don't like the "bar" scene
You don't want to be seen in a bar
You only have a short stay here so can't afford to waste time
You want the hottest girls

As MANY have proven before, do the reading, maybe ask some specific questions (no guarantee of an answer, live with it), go out and enjoy the experience YOURSELF.

Extract from Gulf News May 3.
__________

Iris recognition systems installed at checkpoints nationwide detected around 62,000 deportees who tried to re-enter the country over the last four years, an official said yesterday.

"These illegals attempted to return to the country after they changed their names, passports and obtained job or visit visas," Colonel Ahmad Nasser Al Raisi, Director of the Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, told Gulf News yesterday.

This, he said, makes around 126 people caught a day, more than the average last year which stood at 90-95 people.

"A lot of people have tried to fool the system by using medical eye drops before being scanned, but we adopted new security methods to detect if an iris has been dilated with an eye drop before scanning.

"It also helps prevent expelled foreigners from returning and prevents wanted criminals from leaving the country regardless of the identification documents they use. The system also tracks movements of prison inmates."

MK

My knowledge of this is from those who use Skpe but have brought it in from outside (ie from the UL or somewhere else and thus outside the radar of the censor) and use it.

In the UAE I have found it impoosible to download Skpe. Not welcome here as it would mean Etisalat losing squillions of dosh. In the Gulf News late last year I read an article that stated Etisalat were considering or testing a new software to detect Skpe being used by those who had imported it from the UK etc. Went on to say Skpe banned.

I suppose if you are on media City etc you can get it but normal channels here appear blocked.

Friends in my apartment block use it but it was already on their PC when they arrived and they use it frequently. I think they top up by asking friends in the UK - not sure. In Saudi I have friends who buy Skpe via mates in South Africa etc..

If you find a way using Etisalat let me know please!

See you tomorrow

They do indeed block the site for download and for top-ups.

I top up at home, then use it in the UAE.

One thing, if you are calling the FSU for example, the rate for Skypeout is not really that good, indeed comparable to what you would pay with a Wasel card.

In my case, the best thing about it is that it does not show up on any of my phone bills ("why are you calling Russia, darling?") ;)

From a web site advertising ladies in Dubai (or who come to Dubai), prices on European rates. They are good looking and am sure very GFE etc.

Elodie alone for 1 hour will be 6 Regal girls or similar (assuming Dhms 500 LT).

Andrea who has a very nice rack based on the pictures is Euro 2500 LT (12 hours) or roughly 22 Regal/49ers girls using same calculations!

Is there a way to access ISG from an internet cafe in UAE?

I saw in one of WR's reports that "nntime" no longer works.

Is it only Etis***at that blocks ISG?

Can I get access to ISG via Wi-Fi with my laptop anywhere? I travel to Dubai about once a year and miss the access for field reports / mongering info while there.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to the Home page there is a section that covers this problem. Yes, nntime is blocked, most of us use proxy blockers which we download outside the country or have access to proxies/ports that work. Can be hit and miss. Parts of Dubai (eg Internet City) have free access no blocking as a different system (ie not Etisalat).

Hope this helps

Dubai: Blackmailers are targeting people buying alcohol in Ajman and demanding huge sums of money in return for not calling the police, expatriates have said.

The con artists have followed customers into Sharjah, flagged them down and asked for up to Dh10,000. Several people have reportedly handed over the cash to the men.

John Lawford, 33, a Briton, said his 60-year-old father was almost forced to give Dh4,000 to the men after he legally purchased alcohol at an outlet in Ajman.

Once he reached Sharjah, the men repeatedly flashed their headlights and made him stop by the roadside.
"They showed him a dent in their car and said he had done it, although my father's car didn't touch theirs. They said he had to pay them and if he didn't because he was in Sharjah carrying alcohol, he would have to go to prison," he said.

When Lawford's father protested he did not have Dh4,000 on him, the men said they would frogmarch him to an ATM to get the money.
"My father called me and asked me what to do. I called the police who said not to give them any money," he said.

The men, who Lawford said were "very calm" throughout, eventually left without money.
Lawford's father was buying alcohol for his departure party as he is leaving the UAE after nine years.

"These people are pulling a scam and my father was very upset by it all. He was shaking. He couldn't believe it was happening to him. He was worried this guy would be chasing him home," Lawford said.

After the incident, which happened on Thursday last week, Lawford said he and his father heard of four similar attempts to con people, mostly Westerners, with demands for Dh2,000, Dh4,000, Dh5,000 and Dh10,000.
On at least two occasions those targeted handed over the money.
An official at Ajman Police told Gulf News that non-Muslims can buy alcohol for personal use only from outlets in Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Dubai and Abu Dhabi if they have a liquor licence.

He added that non-Muslims who have legally bought alcohol are allowed to transport it for personal use only in their vehicles through any emirate, although they must not be under the influence of alcohol behind the wheel.

A Muslim found transporting alcohol could face police action, and the official said there were cases pending in which Muslims had been caught with alcohol.

Rules: Visitors do not require an alcohol license to drink in hotels/restaurants or to buy in duty free for their own consumption.

Residents (inc expats) need a license to drink or purchase alcohol, including drinking in bars. As usual the law will only be applied if you are caught being stupid!

In all cases alcohol cannot be transported in public view.

Moral of the tale - get a license or use the Emirates road from Barracuda!

In Dxb this is easy, the Regal ! On the left of the lobby you will find the sports bar. All matches are shown and they have beer promotions, but it does get crowded. Then afterwards you simply go upstairs to Rockafellas for some much more interesting live action......

An alternative is the Chelsea Hotel. Non mongering but very civilised, just off the Golden Triangle.

(Don't skimp, there's only 2 pages of links - most are labeled, so look for FAQ, venues, etc. But the FR's are good too; you can see what has worked for others.)

Belly Dancing was banned on the creek cruise boats a year ago after an incident. I am sure there are still venues not afloat for this, but in my experience, the belly dancers were about 40 and none too slim.

Hi Devil Hunter,

I just came back from an amazing belly dancing show at "Al Mawal" Lebanese Restuarant at the BUstan Rotana Hotel (which is next to Dubai Airport). The belly dancer is Brazilian and has a body to die for.

Live Entertainment starts at 11 pm with a Lebanese singer in very revealing dress. The belly dancer cames in at around 11:45-midnight.

Other options include the Lebanese Restuarant at the JW Marriot, Grand Hyatt, and Jumeirah Beach Hotel (although not as nice as the BUstan Rotana)

Enjoy!

Hello gents

I am happy to report I will be moving to UAE in October. I look forward to contributing to the board.

I have a question for residents.

I have three external computer hard drives, lots of music, but also some adult movie type stuff. (Nothing that is illegal in the USA)

Questions:

Should I make sure this naughty stuff is all off the drives?

What are the odds I will be searched?

If Searched what are the odds they will ask to see whats on the hard drives?

If they look at the hard drives and find porn what will they do?

Also if I burn some things onto a CD or DVD what are the odds they will want to look at those?

Is there any chance of being arrested if caught or not allowed into the country?

I am moving there for a job and can't afford any trouble. Can someone who knows the score fill me in? I would hate to leave it all behind.

Cheers,

Good question. The chances are you will not be checked if you are confident and walk straight through customs. hard drives should IMHO be in your hold luggage. Cabin luggage is screened on entry in the arrivals hall whereas hold bags are screened in the baggage handling area followed by random checks in the arrivals area.

If questioned stay cool and say its just business tools. Should be ok. CDs are more risky than hard drives as they are easier to access.

I use magic windows on my laptops - use google worth the 25 bucks- and works in Saudi.

The only time I was stopped was when I was randomly checked a couple of years ago. I had a pair of leather handcuffs in my bag.....

'What are these'
'handcuffs' made wrists together sign while shitting myself
'Why you have - Police?'
'No'
'Why'
'My pleasure'
Dropped jaw & look of total disust from Mr Customs

'GO GO Go!'

Phew!

Only other time that caused concern was when my bag wa delayed and it had a double ender inside it......

Hello gents

Should I make sure this naughty stuff is all off the drives?

Krypto Knight

May I sugget you buy a cheap whopping big data stick and clean it off your drive. Then clean everything from your last played lists on your software packages by opening innocent files.

If really paranoid you can buy a cleanup tool but not worth it in this case i feel.

the data stick can hang off your keyring or go in your toiletries bag. They wont even know what it is.

Sorry meant magic folders. Go to tucows and find it there for download. Hides the folders so they simply cannot be seen on the windows explorer unless you uase hotkeys and a code. Superb.

i have three external computer hard drives, lots of music, but also some adult movie type stuff.

should i make sure this naughty stuff is all off the drives?like anything in life, how much time, energy, and money is your peace of mind and comfort worth?

customs (i believe, anyway) is mainly looking for commercial distributors, not private use stuff. on the other hand, as you surmised, what is legal elsewhere may not be legal here. porno is illegal (not to say it's not here). and i'd say 100 gig is not "some"... ;)

it seems to vary, but safer to assume that all luggage will be x-rayed on arrival by customs after you collect it from the baggage carrousel and before leaving the terminal. that's why they have the x-ray machines between the carrousel and the door. most of the time they are manned, although being directed to their queues (not long) can be a bit of (bad)luck (it's a pleasant surprise when i'm not directed there, and i easily pass us customs.) the good news is, everybody is polite. all hand-carry is x-rayed on arrival, before you reach the carrousel area (yes, some bags may be x-rayed twice). my advice: even though carts are free, use a porter from the carrousel area; just makes it easier - i'll tip 15, 20 dhs (5 dhs/bag).

i do travel with a notebook and an external drive, plus other electronics (all inside 1 roll-on case). i have been asked to switch on the notebook (took so long to boot, the guy lost interest). have been asked "what's that" with respect to the external drive; response of "for computer" was sufficient.

do not put on cd's or dvd's. these they do look for, and will attract unwanted attention (even blank - after all, they don't know they're blank without looking). myself, i have brought in blanks in orignal unopened packaging, then burnt whatever after. but disks readily available here (msrp).

your biggest problem are the three external drives (1, no problem; 2, ah... ; but 3...). your options:

do nothing. chances are good you will skate through, no problem. they will probably open your bags due to the 3 externals, asking what they are. (they do understand "backups" - personal experience.) but they might be curious as to why you have so many ("work", "backup", "presentation"?).

manual fingering.

i'd make sure that any movie titles are obscured by manually renaming (that "double anal" folder becomes "da").

no shortcuts on desktop, obviously.

cleaning the mru's of any apps a good idea. freeware mru-blaster seems pretty good at this: http://www.wilderssecurity.net/mrublaster.html
although i'd check afterwards to make sure it caught the specific movie-player app.

i'll assume the movies are not iso's, but standard, ripped dvd's. next level would be to change the extensions of the individual files, just so they don't readily look like movies. trouble is, you've got the vob's, bup's, and ifo's files. but freeware renamer from http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~den4b/ nice and easy to use. just don't forget what the original extensions are. but this would seem a bit of a hassle in the case of a lot of movies. and they would still look like movies, in form anyway.

software solutions

hide.
magic folders - as i thought, hides. no experience with it myself. but might not be useful for an external (with all due respect to my kaptain).

just make sure it works on an external; it might not. and perhaps, even if it did, might only work if they plugged the disk into your notebook (chances are they would use your notebook). otherwise, unless whatever resides on the disk itself, changing its attributes, if it's only on the notebook as an app intercepting explorer requests, you could be in trouble if they used their own computer (far fetched). but i'd certainly test the concept at home first.

encrypt.

encrypt the individual files in place. any number of freeware programs to do this. they can't be read, but they still could look like movie files.

encrypt and hide. i'm a big fan of truecrypt freeware (http://www.truecrypt.org/ ). obviously, you will need some free space (4th external?). but what truecrypt does is create a container (file) that can be mounted/dismounted as a drive. all your data goes inside, and is encrypted/decrypted on the fly. really not a concern: you drag the movie folders in, go off while your computer chugs away, then come back and delete the originals. or, if you're paranoid about losing the files, try on 1, drag it in, then drag it out to a different location, and compare (cdcheck, http://www.kvipu.com/cdcheck/ good at this (shareware, but free trial available)). once you've verified the concept, off you go. you might use several containers... same password.

might take some time, but what else is your notebook going to do while you're sleeping (or recovering from jetlag when you decrypt them)?

even if customs found the file container(s), you can setup truecrypt to have a "false" container "front" that you can give up the password to, showing innocuous files, while a hidden "internal" vault, that uses a different password, remains hidden (for the truly paranoid). as the container looks like random data, only you know how much is truly used for files.

a discussion of truecrypt can be found at http://media.grc.com/sn/sn-041-lq.mp3

and truecrypt does partitions ;)

hardware.

well, i was going to say move the movies off the notebook onto an external, but that's really not applicable here. like i say, 1 is no problem, but 3? i'd expect to be questioned (and pleasantly surprised when i was not).

mixed feelings about putting all the movies on 1 drive, or dispersing across all 3.

you did not say if your externals were true externals or an internal mounted in an external enclosure. if the latter, you could always buy another internal, swap it with a currently enclosed one, move the movies there (either encrypted or clear), then pull it out and put back in the original box. just a blank hard drive in case of failure.

depending on how much space you had on your internal hard disk, perhaps you could move the movies there, then use my kaptain's magic folders path.

chances are, you will have no problems. if it was only 1 external, i wouldn't worry (as long as movie folders were renamed). (as a matter of fact, last trip, i came back with 3, no problem. one of them was a lacie silverscreen. expensive for capacity, but nice you can hook the drive directly to your tv for playback.)

with 3, i would assume that i would be stopped and questioned. probably just a "what are these?". but you never know. if searched, if found, and with 100 gig of "adult content" ... you could be in trouble. that's not just a couple of movies. at best, confirep001ion of drives and a fine. at worst...

like i say, always tradeoffs between peace of mind and time and effort. myself, i'm paranoid; i can say i have used some of the methods above and, because i did, was all smiles as i passed through customs. just like reading the forum: a little advance work can save you a lot of problems.

Magic folders works on externals when hooked up to the PC that created the folders. If they connect to their own PC - unlikely - you may have a problem.

One well known monger (well known to MK, Piper and I) was caught with a few accessories but he has no trouble, just left them behind with the customs man for the custom man's wife no doubt :) Another friend did the same with a double headed dildo - likely to cause more harm as a weapon than a porno DVD :)

If you are ever asked to chuck your bag through the X ray machine after baggage claim just wait a tad, look around, act slow and walk on past ignoring the request and the machine as the guys who ask you to queue up never look back after asking you. Done that a few times when in a hurry or carrying some more accessories and we all know you can't have enough of those for the ladies ;)

Some of us still have "moral turpitude" termination clauses in our contracts. Pretty hard to explain exactly WHY you couldn't make that customer meeting...

But the guy was coming from Thailand, and it was a dvd (both can draw unwanted attention...)

I'd still give TrueCrypt a look, especially if you had room on your drive. Like I say, since it's ALL random data in appearance, it's a blank file/partition to outside eyes (and with the false container capability... unbeatable).

First use the magic windows program to hide files.

Second, one of the drives was an internal hard drive that I put into an external case.

I could take the drive out of the external case, leave the external case home and then buy a new external case when I arrive. The only way they could look at it at the airport is if they had an external case laying around.

Just a thought.

I arrive in October and hope to live there for some time if all goes well with work.

I look forward to meeting board members at the various hot spots around town.

Thanks for the help and advice.

KK, just to let you know, a drive without a case is no challenge for the US Customs, they have a special device they can connect to any IDE or SATA drive and search for whatever types of files they desire. If they feel the need, they can be in that drive without or with a case in a minute.
Most of the time they don't do this, only when they have a probable cause to search it they do. Who knows what gives them that.

I recommend that you get some sort of Web storage site, maybe your own domain to store this sort of stuff while you’re in transit. It’s never worth the grief to get jacked up over this sort of thing.

Mina A Salam madinat Jumeria: that's the FAR end of Jumeriah. I'd THINK Cyclone girls would add minimum of 50 dhs taxi fare, either in their price or asking directly as an add-on. I'd think that's fair, as it's not close to the office. Could even be a 100 dhs.

Cyclone A-listers, at least some of the comments from the ones I know, would be disinclined to travel that far unless it was LT.

A lot closer is Amnesia, near the Hard Rock.

Also, given it's a nice hotel, there will be an attempted upper class hotel surcharge.

Like I said, anything is possible, but due to the distance from city center, some overhead, both time and money, for any visitors.

curious, any place recommended for afternoons/early evening? cyclone? are spots even open tonight (thursday) due to the upcoming holiday?you will know when ramadan starts - it will be well publicized. another hint will be when your hotel offers you breakfast in a hidden room. betting is ramadan will start either saturday or sunday - depends on when they sight the moon. until then, it's full speed ahead.

in the ramadan spirit (be kind to your fellow human beings), i won't flame you for asking about such oft written subjects as afternoons/early evenings.
13:00 - 16:00, tgit, astoria
16:00 - 18:00+, admiral plaza (tgit closes between 16:00-18:00)
18:00+, tgit, astoria
19:00+, jockeys, panarama hotel

you can find some gems at these places, but you have to be lucky just like the lottery.

but as soon as ramadan starts, forget anything before, say 19:00.

forget cyclone before 21:00. that's when prc's arrive. 23:00 for cis. most other places, starting time is 21:00.

you might consider taking a nap while waiting...

Anchor triple 7,

Checklist: Check the posts of distinction, then UTFSE.

Sheraton Diera is GF although they may ask for a pp copy, no charges, no problems. If the rooftop bar (Aviation themed) is open, they will not even bother with the PP copy, you could just be going for a drink (and that is the suggested tactic if security asks.)

Attached club (outside to the right is the entrance) is the "Star Studio." Unless some unsuspecting civilians stumble in, it is a 100% P4P place. Few to no PRC, lots of CIS and -Stanis, smattering of Africans. Not exactly the Cyclone, but I have always found something interesting there when pressed.

If you know Emma (CIS house) you can have a lady delivered in minutes as they are very close by.

There, see? Senior members can be nice! We do not like being so, but you caught me in a good mood. ;)

As Sporadic stated elsewhere, be VERY careful driving around dusk (Iftar) when people break their fast; MANY in a hurry to get home to do so. I make sure I am safe at home for at least an hour before, hour after.

Not at all, they can be very tiresome.

There is nowhere where there ar NO working girls, but certainly where they are very low key and your wife will not get hassle. Actually - if with you, then she will be OK. On Friday, ask for the Fairmont hotel and go to the Peppermint. It is top class non WG dance scene. There are others, but ask the Hotels/Taxi drivers and you will be fine.

I think my fellow mongerers answer gives the wrong impression. There are many many bars to take your wife too. The ones mentioned are good esp Peppermint, also the club in the crowne plaza (formerly zinc) for a meal and dancing Rockbottoms in the Regal PALACE not Plaza. Friday brunch - Waxys in the Ascott (also an excellent Russian retaurant with floor show - its respectable - Troika). Get a copy of the Dubai Explorer and you will find many many more.

Searching, the easy way:

The computer will do exactly what you tell it to, though perhaps not what you want; they're very good at that.

1. Search Tools. Upper right of reports columns, just below Page directory, the "Search This Thread". See help_search_tools.jpg attached.

2. Advanced Search. As above, but click on "Advanced Search". Fill out the form. See help_search_advanced.jpg attached.

Search term goes up top.

To get reports, NOT threads:

In lower left section, "Search Options", make sure that "Show Results as Reports" radio button is selected.

In lower right section, "Search in Forum(s), select appropriate thread(s). Multiple threads can be selected by using Ctrl click

Best to use the "Save Search Preferences" , click on Go, to save the "Show Results as Reports" choice. It defaults to Threads, which, I agree, is not useful.

Patience is a virtue, as is clicking ONCE. You do only get 1 search every minute, even if the search turns up nothing.

It does pay to try not only alternate forms of spelling, but also an incomplete spelling, or an incomplete spelling with a wild card (*). For example, looking for the Intercontentional hotel, or Ku-bar "ku": no hits; "Inter": no hits; "Intercon": 5 hits; "inter*" (* wild card): 100 hits (but undesired, such as interesting, so, "interc*": 18 hits "ku*": 19 hitsAnd the great thing is, 1) you get the first 12-14 lines of the post in the search results so you have a chance to see if it is of interest, AND 2) opening the post in a new window, the search term is highlighted in red on the page, making it easily seen. e.g., "ku*" also returns "kuwait" but given the word is highlighted in red, easily seen (as long as you are not a dog).

Granted, you might have to wait a minute between searches, but gives you time to ponder (or read a specific thread).

----------------------

Searching, at your leisure:

Yes, you can use the built-in search engine, as described above. But sometimes, that does not seem to work in retrieving all the posts you want. So, as an alternative:

1. For the thread you want to search, top right of the column headers for the actual posts, there is a button labeled "Thread Tools". Click on it; a pull down menu will appear. Select the 1st option: "Show Printable Version" See help_thread_tools1.jpg attached

2. In the new page that appears, you will just get 1 page of that thread. In the upper right corner, click on the "Show 1000 posts from this thread on one page" link. See help_thread_tools2.jpg attached.

Now, you have 1000 posts per page, easily searchable using your own browser's search tools.

3. Use your browser's Find (mine is under Edit in my browser's global menu bar), and is titled "Find in top window" to enter in your search criteria.

4. Use your browser's "save as" or "save" in your browser's global menu bar (under File), save page(s) to your own computer, and search them using any text editor.

Also useful for downloading and reading at your leisure.

Should have posted this here:

http://maps-guide.org/uae/dubai/bur-map.htm

Interactive hotel maps of Dubai, with pop-ups, phone numbers and everything. I think the Bur Dubai map will interest most.

More useful than a useful thing.

Has anyone actually easten in the rooftop restaurant at the Burj?

What was it like and was it stupidly expensive or good value for money?

Never been and I fancy something a little different for lunch on Friday.

Thanks for any info.

Has anyone actually easten in the rooftop restaurant at the Burj?I have even weasten at the Westin! ;)
You need reservations to even get into the place owing to the tourists who want to "be seen" there. Frankly not worth it (though I was not paying, so by definition, the food was fine, meaning free!) in my book.

Yes, the hotel is impressive in a glitzy way, but IMHO it is just that, glitz vice substance. YMMV. If you want real class, try a really top drawer hotel in Paris, London, Rome or even Madrid. The Burj is mostly bling.
