When you are in Singapore, I recommend you try Brix in B1 of the Hyatt on Orchard. I was just there a few weeks ago, and there was at least 10 Mongolian ladies there already.

Not sure if this is where the BJ princesses will end up, but it is pretty upscale compared to OT. OT is pretty mid-level if you ask me. I've never seen a Mongolian in there at all. I think the BJ ladies will want to ply the trade at a higher end establishment like Brix.

The "dumb luck" version jibes with my research also. The sad part indeed is that 2 girls HAD to leave with no chance to return for a year. The thing is, hard times or not, the safest place for them is always back home working a regular job. They come to Beijing because they need money. An average salary at a “good” job in Mongolia would be around $200 USD per month. Some of these girls earn that in a single night here in Beijing. Even if they understand the concept of “saving for a rainy day” they thought the rainy season was still a couple months off. This raid caught them all off-guard. These signs are also all over Beijing - at the entrance to villa compounds, apartment building, as well as in all of the saunas. Most travelers do not realize they need to register because when you stay in a hotel the hotel staff takes care of it for you. If you stay in a private residence like an apartment then the burden is on the guest to register with the local police station. It is a simple process – you just fill out a form and give them a copy of your passport. In the past the it really did not matter, but as we approach 08/08/08 the Beijing government wants to know where all the foreigners are staying. My guess is they want to be sure and purge the city of anyone overstaying their visa to decrease congestion on the city's resources during the Olympics.

To an American, that whole registration biz may sound like a police state. Europeans don't bat an eye at it. In most countries in Europe you must register with the authorities when changing residence. Sure, nobody bothers you if you stay with friends and relations. Technically, they could.

In some countries (Italy comes to mind,) the hotel keeps your passport over night. The police makes the rounds and inspects it while you are sleeping.

In some European countries (Sweden, UK, Germany,) computerized monitoring of the whole populace is so perfected that there is no sense in hiding anything or anywhere. (And don't get me going on Sweden, that supposedly oh so liberal country. Sweden's men are totally pussy-whipped. Selling sex is legal in Sweden. I suspect you've touched on something there Zhuren, that these are real relationships and not simply transactions in buying pussy. That's certainly my impression of the scene, brief as that may be. Whilst its probably not wise to mention the venues by name at the moment, I certainly had some fun in Beijing recently. I visited several Saunas, with p4p services, and a BBS with FS. I quite enjoyed the Saunas, although quite expensive the normal Sauna procedure in China was something I was new too, although the advise in the forum certainly came in useful, and particularly the ways to avoid some of the scams (e. G. Pyjama purchase etc). The girls were pretty good looking, nice bodies, although a few tattoos. I think you have to balance what she needs against what she could make in a "good" market. It is her normal income that dictates her standard of living as well as how much money she sends home. For example, if she normally gets 1000 RMB a pop, and gets business 3 times a week, that is an income of 3000 RMB per week, or 12,000 RMB per month. If her actual living expenses were 6,000 RMB per month, then she was probably sending home anohter 6,000 RMB per month to her family. I am not saying that you should give her 12,000 RMB - things are tough, and with a down turn in income she must cut back, but her family obligations are not going to change.

Keep in mind that no matter how much money you give her, she is still a bar girl. As much as I love and respect the Mongolian girls, I also am 100% sure that if they have an opportunity to work and make a little extra money they are going to take it. You are not buying her devotion, but rather helping a friend through a difficult period.

My figure was just tuition and room at the University system. It did not include any other requirements - food, transportation, UB requirements, etc. I have known this particular girl quite a long time, and actually had to have a debate with her before she let me help her with that much - she long ago transferred to freebie status with me and we have a rather complicated relationship.

As for full time support, I would suspect somewhere around $5,000 to $7,000 RMB per month would be good enough, gvien the rents around 4th ring road where many live and typical monthly costs. The UB requirement is really individual to the girl. It would all depend on the relationship structure and the girl as to how much more than $5,000 it would take I would think.

My "strategy" was always: Walk in together. As long as you use the hotels listed in the Beijing Hotel thread, nobody will bother you.

If someone bothers me (which occurs VERY rarely) I do the following:


- Don't act ashamed. Act annoyed.
- Don't argue. Just ask: "Are you serious?" If he says yes:
- Ask the guy's name, write it down, ask his hotel ID. (That usually does it.)
- If he still doesn't budge, tell your date to sit in the lounge and wait.
- Proceed to your room.
- Call the front desk, ask for the manager to come to your room within the next 5 minutes or else. There is a very serious matter you want to discuss with him, and it's very, very urgent. Don't go into further details. Waste of time.
- Manager arrives. Tell him (or even better, her) that you have a lady down there, that you pay her by the hour, and some knucklehead in his employ is costing you time and money, and is ruining an otherwise pleasurable stay at the establishment. Unless the lady is at your room in 5 minutes you will leave immediately, write a letter to HQ citing all names of the involved, and never grace the chain with your presence.

That very blatant approach always worked for me, even got me upgrades once in a while. It only works in 5stars.

(My wife is into ladies also. So sometimes, I arrive with three girls: My wife, a girl for her, a girl for me. She's Asian. Once, a guard stopped us. Boy did he ever regret it. @Zhuren: thanks for your quick reply. I would have used your strategy without hesitation until a couple of weeks ago, but things are very different this time. There are much more security guards inside my regular hotel, and police cars are standing directly in front. The guards are visibly screening the incoming guests and are looking for something.

I am very concerned about a very special friend, that will be coming back to Beijing this week-end from a safe location before she returns home for a while. I want to avoid any risks for her.

Do other non-residents experience similar security situations inside the hotels?

I mostly mongered at the Hollywood. I despised the bar itself but I did meet some fantastic Russians there. What's up with that place right now? Are the Russian girls being booted the same as the Mongolians? Sounds like it might be a dry couple of weeks. Oh well- I guess I might have to try my luck in Sanlutin.

I have been out of town for the last week, so this may be old news;

Most of the Russian, Uzbek's and other related Russians are slowly leaving Beijing as their visa's run out, so the number is very low. A small trickle of new Russians (with Russian Passports) are coming in, but this is far below the required replacement rate. I have not seen any new Uzbeks, or "stans" Russians for several months.
I would not go to Hollywood, as the risk of being caught in a police raid is very high and the number of girls is very low. If you really want a Russian, my strong advise is if you have any numbers of previous Russians you have met, try to call them.
But my real advice is to fall back to emergency Plan B - Chinese streetwalkers. If you PM me I can give you an idea where you may find some.

But no matter how bad it may be in Beijing, its better than Bombay, which is where I am right now.

But a historical note, the Beijing Police targeted the Russians & Uzbeks back in November. I can't remember the date, but a host of girls were arrested in a raid and one of the girls passed away in custody – reason unknown. The exodus of Russians & Uzbek's started about then. My last long term friend left in December because she was too scared to stay and she was not the only one. I have not bothered to monger at Hollywood, or any place, since then and instead am replying on my remaining Uzbek and Russian friend to keep me company. My last Uzbek friend's visa run's out this week, so she will soon depart and my remaining Russian will leave next month.

But to really go back to the olden days, I can tell you it was very bad about 8-10 years ago. In some ways worst, as back then they would deport foreigner's if caught playing up too much. The police even followed you back to your hotel room, so I had to play dice for about an hour with my friend just to make sure no one knocked on the door while I was doing something improper. I have not heard of this type of activity in over 8 years, but back in those dark days I do remember having a reasonable amount of fun. But it took effort and planning.

I have no doubt all will be back to normal by the end of the year – it make take a while for the girls to come back, but they will once they know the coast is clear. In the meantime I would suggest taking up golf, as occurred in Korea when they cracked down on the barber shops and KTV's. Sure, its boring, but all you guy are probably awash in cash and you need to spend it on something.

If you are a lot younger than I am and bold enough to hit tourists on Saturday night dressed to kill you may find some 5 star stunners in between your sheets. I saw at least 20 girls in an hour that could have stopped traffic cold in any city in America. And thats all I had to report for the evening I hope you guys did better than I did last night.

I end up in Sanlitun almost every Friday night for the Sequoia Cafe wine tasting, but this is the first time I’ve witnessed such a police presence.

The street facing Tongli Studio was blocked by tape and police, from near Poachers to Aperitivo. I saw several dozen police officers, both uniformed and plain-clothes, and a group of eight to ten people with “SWAT” printed on the back of their uniforms. Hundreds of patrons, employees, and residents watched from the doorways of bars and restaurants, the rooftop of Tongli Studio, and apartments.

Police brought people out of the northernmost Pure Girl establishment and put them into a paddy wagon. At one point, two of these people, handcuffed together, were posed in the middle of the street for what I assume were press and police photographers and videographers.

The police went into A Little High and brought someone out. Patrons outside were told they could go in, which most of them did, at which point the photographers took pictures of them sitting in the bar.

Eight or so photographers then rushed down the alley that intersects the street, followed by two officers with German Shepherds and some plain-clothes police.

I watched the raid for about 30 minutes and, at least while I was there, it seemed fairly orderly and calm.

I then headed to Revelations (a jazz band now plays there on weekends) and The Saddle Cantina (to check the inaugural half-price drinks event “Cinco de Drinko” - one person in our party really liked the Mango Mojito). Afterwards, I walked down the Tongli strip and, beside the four Pure Girl establishments being shut, things seemed no different than usual.

My overall impression is that: 1) this raid was much more coordinated that the one last October; 2) given the numerous photographers, it was meant to send a very public message; 3) now is not the time to be acting recklessly in Beijing; and 4) it’s a good idea to have your identification papers with you.

I’ve always had mixed feelings about Sanlitun North. On one hand, I have described it numerous times as a “cesspool”, given the dealers, lady bar touts, and fights. On the other hand, I like numerous establishments there - The Tree, Petit Gourmand, Le Bistrot Parisienne, among others. Hopefully, the end result for this area is not one of “throwing the baby out with the bathwater.”

Here is some good news for a change: you can still have fun in Beijing, if you actively go out and look for it.

My week-end actually started with bad news. My favorite Mongolian, who I have been regularly seeing during the last year, informed that she can’t meet me in Beijing. I had been looking forward to seeing her again before she returns home –probably for some months. At least I know that she is safe and in good hands. So what to do with a week-end without my favorite girl and Maggies closed? Zhuren provided me with a concise update on the latest situation (thanks again!), but was not able to give me any clear recommendations.

During lunch, one of the waitresses approached me and gave me her telephone number “to show me Beijing next time”. She was not really good-looking, but seemed nice, so I suggested going out together after she finished work. She said that she would think about. Well, better than nothing, I thought, even if she will probably not call in the end. In the afternoon, I walked around to see in the usual areas whether at least street-walkers are still around. It did not take 5 minutes until a Chinese girl made unambiguous eye-contact with me. She agreed to come to my hotel for 400 RMB for 2h and as many times as I wanted. She turned out to be rather disappointing performance-wise, but at least we did our 2 rounds – which again was better than nothing.

Around 9pm I went to Bar One, which was empty with only 2-3 male customers and a number of Chinese bar girls. I then spotted 2 Mongolians engaged in discussions with the staff, who told them very clearly to stay away and threatened them with police. As there was no reason to stay in the bar, I left together with them and offered them my company (or was it the other way around?) We finally ended up bar hopping and dancing, and I must admit that it was quite a nice change from the week-end routine, that I had developed with my Mongolian during the last year. On the dance floor, I was aggressively approached an OK looking Chinese woman in her late 20s, that made frequent physical contact with me. I don’t believe that she was a WG or even an amateur, and would have certainly followed it up, if I had not been in the company of my two Mongolian friends.

Towards the end of our night, I declined their offer to spend the night with the two of them and returned to my hotel with the younger and more active one. In the past, I never encountered any problems bringing visitors to my room over-night – but this time was different. The guard was not just standing around as usual pretending not to notice anything, but was sitting directly behind the door and stood up as soon as he noticed me and the girl entering the hotel. He asked for her passport, which she did not have with her. I told him in a harsh voice, that she is my girl-friend and that I have always brought her to the hotel in the past, but he pretended not to understand any English and directed us towards the front desk. Fortunately, the young girl at the reception was visibly embarrassed about the situation and simply told us “oh you want to stay overnight – no problem”. She did not even ask for any identification.

In the end the record of this week-end did not look too bad at all: a night with a young Mongolian, who was still a bit inexperienced but very nice – an afternoon pop with a Chinese street worker – a flirt with a Chinese woman with the potential for more (if I had tried) – and the message of the young Chinese waitress around 12pm asking me whether I am still up to meet her. I will certainly keep the number for next time - you never know.

So don’t give up – you can still have fun in Beijing, even if it’s more difficult than before.

Today went to the place outside mentioned before, is not so bad to reach but technically not even Beijing district anymore, it is Hebei province (maybe that is why it is cheap and still untouched). 45 minutes by taxi there from East 3rd ring North for 120 RMB, back little bit faster 100 RMB (driver offered to stay for a 300 RMB roundtrip but did not want to negotiate-his problem). No problem at all getting a taxi back in the afternoon but as they are local drivers having a Beijing map is not a bad idea to show them where to go.

The sauna works even if you speak little Chinese, but this town is strictly no English (unless you want to buy real estate, which is the hot trend there at the moment). Found only one place, the bigger mentioned, indeed easy but you must know where it is, from the outside just the SAUNA characters in Chinese give a hint and if you cannot make clear in Chinese what you want there, no chance. Taipei (maybe entire Taiwan as well) does not have ANY overnight / LT offering. Even if there is LT offering in Taipei, it will be A LOT higher than 3000RMB (apple vs. apple, I was referring to the comparable quality of girls.) The rate in Taiwan is always hourly rate. Maybe we could pay 6-8 hours, but I believe 6-8 hours rate in Taiwan would still be much higher than 3000RMB.

Today went to the place outside mentioned before, is not so bad to reach but technically not even Beijing district anymore, it is Hebei province (maybe that is why it is cheap and still untouched). 45 minutes by taxi there from East 3rd ring North for 120 RMB, back little bit faster 100 RMB (driver offered to stay for a 300 RMB roundtrip but did not want to negotiate-his problem). No problem at all getting a taxi back in the afternoon but as they are local drivers having a Beijing map is not a bad idea to show them where to go.

The sauna works even if you speak little Chinese, but this town is strictly no English (unless you want to buy real estate, which is the hot trend there at the moment). Found only one place, the bigger mentioned, indeed easy but you must know where it is, from the outside just the SAUNA characters in Chinese give a hint and if you cannot make clear in Chinese what you want there, no chance. Small tip if your changing room is not the first to the left you may reconsider. Shower is not that bad, but hey guys if you want a luxury spa what are you doing there anyway? No big selling with the pyjamas, just take the paper underwear asking for the big sizes and point to the golden lease ones, null problemo. .

The police officer explained that foreign- and youth-oriented bars are becoming a popular venue of drug smuggling and consumption.

Drug traffickers and users are gradually moving from large entertainment facilities and urban areas to small, rural ones to avoid intensified crackdown by the authority, Zhao added.

More than 20 Beijing-based entertainment resorts that were convicted of involvement in drug cases have been annulled since 2006, thanks to joint operations by various municipal authorities, according to Fu Zhenghua, deputy head of the bureau and also in charge of the city's drug control task.

I have had similar experiences on my Beijing mongering trips. I don't want to drive a car in Beijing as all the Chinese drivers don't know how to drive and that would be very dangerous for me as the only one who would know. So I cycle around to scout out good mongering spots. I've often been tricked by Wang bas - they have neon red signs and stay open very late and look quite low rent, exactly the sort of place you'd expect to find xiaojies for sale. But no, it's just rows of terminals with young men playing online games, at all hours.

One surefire sign of a good mongering spot is the cheaper type of barber poles, and any place which has a kind of purple/pink fluorescent lighting, expecially on the inside lighting up the girls is pretty likely to cater to our specialist tastes.

I've also come across a street near the next tube station west of Fuxingmen which has four or five walk down shops with large display windows. These are all rented by single working girls who sit in the window displaying their wares. Some of those have similar lighting, I think. It reminds me a lot of Amsterdam, a kind of red light district with Chinese characteristics. However, never take-out, but to saunas or massage places. It actually is quite convenient, because you can 'shop around' a bit. If you don't like one place, you can go easily to another. The thing is that even with a taxi, which I of course could ask to stop plain anywhere I whiz by, it is just too much of a hassle usually to do so. Starts with parking not always being allowed over stopping for nothing because on a second look you figure out what looked interesting when driving by turns out a dud to hailing a new cab after your inquiry.

With my bike I plain stop wherever I like, park it wherever I like and it is (usually) waiting for me as long as I like. Works like a charm for whatever I may like to investigate - DVD shops, eateries, BBS, whatever. My report about some of the BBS scene in Beijing from last year would have been at best half as long without my bike.

I think the main problem of 10th floor is to grasp the concept that it is very possible to spot BBS (or whatever) from pretty much any mode of transportation - a cab, bus, bike and even when walking by on foot (no joke, really) - when getting from A to B. He confuses (for whatever reason) the mere opportunity when one spots these places with "being out mongering" or something like that.

I can't say that Beijing has changed a whole lot to me even with the reported crackdown at Maggies. Take it easy. Judging from your posts, I assume that you are relatively new to the world of 'commercial sex' (My apologies, if not).

I think you hit it right on the head, that is what I said I am stupid, yes sure this is actually my first time and immediately I get feeling, easy to happen. I stayed recently at the CP in Beijing. I called for an in-room massage and a good looking girl arrived in less than 5 minutes. She was strictly massage-only, but had excellent technique, and was worth the money. I even requested her again a few nights later just for the massage.

Sounds complicated? Well, I don't think that it is more complicated than in any other serious relationship that you start - even with someone from your own culture and background. I see so many different concepts about these things around me, that I really start wondering where culture ends and the individual starts.

That is why I do the stupid fact finding, maybe just to find a reason convincing me to stop before damage happened on both ends. Had to travel from Chao Yang Men to my home near Shifoying（石佛营）and because the weather was so nice again and I wasn't in much of a hurry I deviated from the main traffic lanes on my bike again to check out what lies behind.

I mention ahead because if you don't want to waste your time on jokes like that you can skip the rest of the post right here.


That being said, below what I found. It again deals with BBS. Due to the numbers of shops I will keep it like in my post last year about the same topic and only provide generally what I found in each area and not go into detail about each and every shop:


1) Guandongdian Beijie（关东店北街）– Hit and Miss

Going East from Landao/Donddaiqiao（蓝岛/东大桥）along Guandongdian Beijie（关东店北街）I came by a couple of BBS along the Southern side of the street before I reached the Third Ring. I asked around in five of them and got: three only offered HJ at 50RMB, another BJ for 100RMB and willing to call for girls offering FS (prices would depend on girl they said, but one of those present even spoke a tiny bit of English) and one FS for 300RMB. Did not bother to see if there were room for negotiation with the last one, too lazy.

Along the opposite (Northern) side of Guandongdian Beijie I also spotted some shops, but was too lazy to cross and inquire. A smaller parallel street running South of it sported another 3 or so BBS near where it meets the 3rd Ring. The looked like the kind this message board is about but I was too lazy to inquire again.


2) Tianshuiyuan Dongjie（甜水园东街）– Can be skipped

Further down my ride I later on came by a couple of other BBS in the area South of the Chaoyang Stadium（朝阳体育馆场官场）which lies on Yaojiayuan Lu（姚家园路）Southwest of Chaoyang Park. I was told the name of that street was Tianshuiyuan Dongjie（甜水园东街）but even my Beijing Shenghuo Ditu does name it. The street runs North South between the two Jintailus（金台路）somewhere.

But if you don't find it the loss is neglegtable. In two places I got told "only HJ" for 50 and 60 RMB respectively and the other two offered FS for 100 RMB but the 'girls' not that appealing. I know beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, but still they probably miss the taste of most.


3) Liulitun Cun（刘立屯村）– FS for 150 and decent number of shops

Liulitun（刘立屯）lies South of Chaoyang Park and Liulitun Cun（刘立屯村）is a Hutong area there. Just travel East from the above mentioned Chaoyang Stadium（朝阳体育馆场官场）and you should find it. Now the Hutongs I found are really not charted on my map, but if you find that tiny police station on the Southern side of Yaojiayuan Lu（姚家园路）when going East from the Stadium you found it.

And the barbershops lie right in the hutong running South of that one. The first one being literally behind the station :P There are 5 BBS in that alley, in three I inquired and prices quoted for FS were 300 RMB (dropped to 200 when I left), 200 (dropped to 150 when I left) and 500 (dropped to 150 when I left real quick) for FS.

In another road I drove thru when getting to Liulitun Cun I also checked two BBS. It was the street just West of the Liulitun Hutongs（刘立屯村）. Prices quoted there were 200 (dropping to 150) and 300 (dropping to 200) for FS.


4) Dougezhuang Hutongs（豆各庄村）– Not much, but at least it is close to home

Last stop then on my trip home was the Hutong area at Dougezhuang（豆各庄）. When one continues to ride East on Yaojiayuan Lu（姚家园路）beyond the 4th Ring until the Shilibao Lu（十里堡路）one can notice a streed leading Northwest from that intersection. This one runs thru the Dougezhuang Hutongs（豆各庄村）, which I already mentioned in one of my last posts. It one got 4 BBS, each with one girl – one offering nothing at all, one HJ for 50, another up to BJ for 100 and the last FS for 150 RMB respectively.

And that already sums up my ride home.



The most interesting revelation today though was, that if one puts ( ) around Chinese characters on ISG the last character converts into a smiley with numbers (豆各庄村), which in turn the counts as an image, which in turn will have the post be rejected for having too many images … which in turn gave Andreas Wang more hassle than he liked to put this here into a presentable format.

FWIW, which is very little I suppose, I think that almost all of the girls who have received a mouthful of me and enjoyed swallowing it were smokers. I don't recall any who were non-smokers other than a young girl in northern Japan some years ago. Perhaps they're using the tobacco taste to cover up the spoo flavor? Here is what a typical dialogue runs like:

And yeah, this is a great technique. I'm definitely using this. I think even at the level of WGs, there's still this issue of face with all Chinese people. If you bargain them down from Rmb150 to 80 for HJ, they lose face. But if you act like it's understood that the Rmb50 is expected, then you'll get it for 80 or less. The problem with your technique is that it requires you to be really vulgar and direct, which I usually look for ways not to be. But if you want to get the best deals, it's probably necessary.

On the other hand, I've had girls tell me.- and who knows how much of this is just grasping and straws (ha! ).- that it's more work to get westerners off. Bigger members, more staying power. So they make a demand for greater compensation on that basis. Some would say that's fair.

I am back in Beijing for business, and I'll be here for two more days. The last time I was here, which was last Christmas season just a few months ago, I hit up Maggie's about five times after visiting all the other usual spots and deciding that there's no place like Maggie's and no better service than Mongolian.

I was extremely disappointed to come back on this forum and find out that Maggie's had been shut down. After RTFF'ing to catch up on the latest, I honed in on a few posts suggesting that Hollywood (as most of you know, quite close to Maggie's next to Ritan Park) was the new hot-spot, so off I went last night to check it out first hand.

When I got there, which was roughly 10 PM on a Tuesday night, there were probably 20 Russian girls, 5 Chinese girls, one Korean girl, and about 7 Mongolian girls. There were about a dozen guys wandering around. I stayed there for two hours and made the following observations:

1. Only 6-7 new girls came in after 10. This is probably due to the fact that it was a Tuesday night, so there was less traffic.

2. The ratio of girls to guys was always very heavily weighted towards girls. A good thing for us guys, BUT...

3. The going rate is off the charts despite this oversupply! You'd think that with the demand constraints clearly in effect--only about a dozen of the 30+ girls there were getting any action that night, for sure--the prices would move down. No! The going rate was 800 RMB for one shot (the Korean ho had the audacity to ask for 1000), 2000 RMB for an all-nighter from Chinese and Mongolian, and 2500 RMB for an all-nighter with Russians. Initially, I laughed at those prices and immediately walked away, but I kid you not, I talked to over 15 girls and they all told me that the prices were the same for all the girls and they quoted me those prices. I noticed there were several other johns walking around similarly frustrated, so I went up to two other guys individually and asked them if they were getting similarly shafted on pricing. The answer: yes, unfortunately. After waiting for two hours with no luck being able to bargain down, I approached one of the less attractive Mongolians (a 6 as opposed to the room average of 7'ish) and beat her up on price for 15 mintues and finally got her to cave... for 1500 RMB all night! Unbelievable how far prices had come up. Last time I was here, I was able to get my pick of Mongolians at Maggie's for 1000-1500 depending on how hot they were, but now, I have to bargain for two hours to get a very average girl to come with me for 1500 all night. What the hell gives?

BTW, for those who haven't been to Hollywood, there are two sets of taxis outside. Along the road, there are regular taxis who'll try to bargain a fixed rate but will usually only rip you off marginally. Then there are private cars/taxis immediately outside the entrance that will truly rip you off, charging 5-10x the usual rate. Avoid those private cars like the plague.

I was in Hollywood last weekend. First, I hate the atmosphere of the place. I was with a Mongolian girl and another friend. My Mongolian girl commented that she felt unsafe in the place, for which I do not blame her.

As for pricing, I had dinner with some Mongolian sisters the other night. Their approach seems to be that it is tough to get customers these days. They are hanging in a variety of locales in small numbers in each place - Hollywood, the Irish joint near the Kempinski Hotel, the bars around Hilton, Mix, and a couple of places on Sanitlun. Because these are not really mongering destinations, their close rate is low. Their logic is that they really need the extra cash per close because of lower sales rate. This has always been the case at Hollywood - the girls all have decided to set a higher price. If a girl is known to be going out for less the other girls will run her off. Collective bargaining at its finest!

Most of the WG in China, regardless of location, reckon that all foreigners are rich, are hung like an elephant and last forever. They watch too many porno movies. With this perception in mind, they will try to get as much from a laowai as possible.

Your ability to negotiate depends on a few factors:

1) You can speak some Chinese so they know you did not just arrive yesterday.

2) Your confidence and knowledge of pricing; Andreas Wang example.

3) Your regular patronage.

That said, some providers just won't budge; Shanghai BBS are a good example. And, I've found if they do drop the price, the service level drops as well since they feel cheated based on their expectations what a laowai should pay. Therefore, if they quote me a crazy price off the bat, I just walk away. If it is just a bit higher than standard, I will laugh and negotiate. If they quote me the local price from the start, I will become a regular patron of the establishment.

Although I am very direct, many of my mongering buddies are not. They beat around the bush asking subtle questions about what services are available or they waste the massage fee and their time, only to find out that they can only get a HJ when they were after more. However, things down South are more straightforward. HJ only shops are easy to spot compared to the FS joints, but even some of the HJ girls will let you stick in in for a few more RMB if you are a regular.

To bring up a point that Billy raised a while back, think about what you spent on alcohol (and maybe some ladies drinks) during those 2 hours. Hollywood isn't the cheapest drinks in town nor was Maggie's. If you are not going bonkers, maybe one cocktail every 20 minutes or so is not terribly unusual. Rounding down, let's say you had 5 in those 2 hours. That's a minimum of 200 rmb and often closer to 400. Ladies drinks at say 70, and you can part with up to 600 rmb pretty easily in the time you're trying to bump the price down by a couple hundred. Plus you're that much more wasted and there's 2 hours less of banging beaver.

Not trying to believe that the WG rates are totally acceptable, just pointing out that the money leaves our wallets one way or another. It just might go to several accounts and not only the girl's... Then again that is part of the socialist dogma to spread it around, right? ;)

What it came down to for me was a serious drunken stupor, a Mongolian for a few hours that was very nice company, and then trying to figure out what the hell I was doing at work all the next day. Damn I miss Maggie's... :eek:

I can now confirm Zhuren's assertion that if you speak Chinese or can just figure out how to utter the single word Viagra, you can literally walk into any pharmacy, ask for Viagra, and purchase it without a prescription. It's true, at any rate, of the pharmacy across the street from me. The middle-aged female pharmacist cheerfully showed me over to a locked display case in the corner containing Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. Never looked askance, never batted an eye. An unbelievable display of what I guess you would call professionalism? We had this very deliberate chat about the advantages of each.

I purchased a box containing one 100mg (labeled as 0.1g) pill of Viagra for Rmb116. That is pretty expensive, but actually cheaper than when I bought a single pill one other time from a dedicated sex shop near the Kempinski Hotel and the Hard Rock Cafe, just outside east 3rd ring (as described in this forum) about six months ago. That was about Rmb150 as I recall.

In this case, the box was an official, manufacturer-sealed box containing one pill, unlike at the sex shop, where it was taken out of a small plastic pharmacy-style pill bottle full of them, like you'd see in a western pharmacy. She insisted that the Viagra was made in China, in Dalian, while the Levitra and Cialis (Bayer) were imported from England and Germany, respectively. But the Viagra was still more expensive pill for pill. Cialis was on sale for Rmb372 for 4 pills. The Levitra was similar, maybe Rmb398 for 4.

But it's got the Pfizer label, which I'm guessing means it's the product of a Pfizer joint venture. That leads me to suspect strongly that if you want the genuine article, ie with the Pfizer label, it may not be available anywhere for much cheaper than Rmb100-120. A locally manufactured pill must be cheaper than imports, and if it's still that expensive, that's probably the market price at this point.

Of course it's also possible that I bought a knock-off with a fake label, but I tend to doubt that.

So now the key question is whether an actual knock-off, non-Pfizer generic viagra might be just as good. Any intel on that? Sammy?

Also, I can report there are NOT in fact male enhancing drugs for sale at Watson's, at least not the one I went to. Sammy, which one did you buy at?

I've bought Cialis at 2 different drug stores in town. One in the basement of the Kerry Centre (inside the grocery store) and one in the basement of Pacific Center Place. I know about 3 words of Chinese, none of which are Cialis. The first place had the stuff in a locked cabinet, but had the names on the front of the boxes. They carry Levitra, Viagra and Cialis (and Prozac for those in the mood). I just pointed and the lady got them for me.

Having tried Viagra there as well, all I can testify to is that I got a pretty wicked headache. The Cialis, while not cheap (495 for a box of 4 tabs), worked like a champ and kept little Tankuki stiff after heavy drinking. I've had some from the US before and what I got in BJ was the same.

I've found a place that ships generic stuff from India with no prescription. Much cheaper...
