I've bought Cialis at 2 different drug stores in town. One in the basement of the Kerry Centre (inside the grocery store) and one in the basement of Pacific Center Place. I know about 3 words of Chinese, none of which are Cialis. The first place had the stuff in a locked cabinet, but had the names on the front of the boxes. They carry Levitra, Viagra and Cialis (and Prozac for those in the mood). I just pointed and the lady got them for me.
Having tried Viagra there as well, all I can testify to is that I got a pretty wicked headache. The Cialis, while not cheap (495 for a box of 4 tabs), worked like a champ and kept little Tankuki stiff after heavy drinking. I've had some from the US before and what I got in BJ was the same.

I haven't been back to Beijing since the beginning of the year, since before the crackdown so I can't say what's going on there now, but I can tell you that before, some of these places were definitely providing full service, including Apple Massage and Pride & Pretty. There were a couple others I tried but don't recall there names, but as I recall the rate is generally 7 or 800 yuan on top of the basic massage fee. The ones in the City Weekend certainly cater to westerners (most are in the Chaoyang District, esp. In Soho).
I'm going to be back in Beijing later this month and rather dreading it knowing the Maggies and the Pig aren't going to deliver. Never was very fond of Hollywood. I'm thinking about jumping into the KTV fray since it sounds like that may be an option still, but was wondering if anyone can recommend any good ones in the Lufthansa Center, Hilton area of Chaoyang?

Have not tried as mongering alone. Streetscene has become a bit more discrete but around the Kunlun still lots to find. In Sanyuan street and its sideways there are some MPs, just try, the one behind the pharmacy on the second floor looks promising, as well as the one besides the new US embassy, even though there you will need outcall for more than a HJ. but that is dammned cheap, 160 for 2 hours plus whatever you negotiate. Besides the Kunlun, a few metres west is another Hotel with a famous KTV, cannot go there as it belongs to a friend of my RM there, so I better not be seen. the rest just check my 2 older posts of this region (search for 3rd ring North East).
Have fun and would love to hear back your experiences, will be back end of June and suspect right before the Olympics will be a bit harder to find wares, you can also PM me.

I am glad to report that Liulichang（琉璃厂）not only sports the usual assortment of cheapa-cheapa tourist junk but also one neat barbershop close by.
For those really new to Beijing: Liulichang is one of these touristy streets made look Old Chinatown sporting one souvenir shops besides the other. It runs East-West crossing Nanxinhua Jie（南新华街）pretty much in the middle between the subway station Hepingmen on Qianmen Xidajie（前门西大街）to the North and Zhushikou Xidajie （珠市口西大街）to the South. Or just look it up in any Beijing tourist guide.
To get to the BBS just walk Liulichang Eastwards to its very, very end where it forms a T instersection with a North-South running hutong. To the North the alley runs straight for some time. To the South it just bends around the corner to again head East. You don't go North but instead around that little bend and you are already at the BBS. It is literally just around the corner of Liulichang.
Prices quoted were 150 to 200 for FS and the shop is a bit bigger than most others I usually drive by. I.e. with rooms upstairs instead of just a bench behind a curtain.
While in that general area I also came by again the BBS in what I believe to be Qianmen Xi Heyan Jie（前门西和沿街）, probably the last successors of the old Eight Alley Red Light District of the Qing Dynasty:

Business there seems to go on just like a few weeks ago when I was in the area the last time - though probably a lot less so than about 100 years ago.
The BBS near Liulitun（刘立屯）I reported last time though seem to be scheduled for demolition slowly. A few on Yaojiayuan Lu have already been torn down and others have been empty the other week. Let's see if this will effect the entire Tianshuiyuan（甜水园）area or not.
Regarding the Goose & Duck: no idea if any P4P there (I doubt it with what I read on here so far about the place) but I noticed that I actually live close by there now. So in case anyone goes there over the next week and likes to meet up, PM me and I may show up to socialize (less so to monger though).

Just some info I wanted to share. This is a KTV therefore needing some Chinese skills
I have been in the Bar Area at the old Sunshine Club KTV which has been recently rennovated. The KTV rooms are quite expensive for one person or small party.
When I arrived, I asked to sit in the Bar Area similar to the one they used to have long time ago. My table charge in the center section was 380RMB and this covers your drinks and/or food. I arrived about 830pm and the stage show was about to start. At the same time, the Mami I knew brought me some girls to choose from. Most of the grils to choose are quite pretty and tall. Well, it meets my taste. Sitting fee is 500RMB (usual Sunshine price I think).
I can also sit and not choose anyone. Which I will consider next time. Its because, there is then a Model Show (can see most of the girls who work there) at about 11pm to 1130pm. And then I can choose from there. Yes, some might already be with someone else. So, I can remember the Model's number and tell the Mami, either for next time or.
So, overall, it does costs some but for one guy, in my case, its much cheaper than, getting a KTV room especially at a place like Sunshine. And its an option for when I can't organize with friends either.

I have been in the Bar Area at the old Sunshine Club KTV which has been recently rennovated. The KTV rooms are quite expensive for one person or small party.
When I arrived, I asked to sit in the Bar Area similar to the one they used to have long time ago. My table charge in the center section was 380RMB and this covers your drinks and/or food. I arrived about 830pm and the stage show was about to start. At the same time, the Mami I knew brought me some girls to choose from. Most of the grils to choose are quite pretty and tall. Well, it meets my taste. Sitting fee is 500RMB (usual Sunshine price I think).
I can also sit and not choose anyone. Which I will consider next time. Its because, there is then a Model Show (can see most of the girls who work there) at about 11pm to 1130pm. And then I can choose from there. Yes, some might already be with someone else. So, I can remember the Model's number and tell the Mami, either for next time or.
So, overall, it does costs some but for one guy, in my case, its much cheaper than, getting a KTV room especially at a place like Sunshine. And its an option for when I can't organize with friends either.

Prices seem outrageous to me, for that money you can get a decent LT elsewhere..

Had been to Beijing on two occasions recently. As the majority of you I think that the closing of Maggies is a huge loss for the mongering scene in Beijing.
I was not believing all the reports so.probably as many others- I was cheking all the "old" locations with the well known result. Don t waste your time and money.
Then I called several massage services where I find the numbers from the internet- google for "beijing massage" with the typical result. The majority of the numbers didn t response and where I get conneted they are asking for RMB 1800/h, which I was not willing to pay.
In Bar One, which I find a nice place to have a drink, one the bargirls talk to me and made clear to me that the bargirls are not for taking out. I wasn t willing to believe it, because I saw several men sitting together with young ladies, but when I left the place I saw a potential customer outside was not able to convince his spouse to leave with him.
The only alternative I found was Absenta in the Russian quarter near Ritan Hotel. Quite a selection on every evening, but the quality was more 4-6, but in every respect better than Hollywood, which I don t like at all. You will find there a lot of male decent people from all around the world, just talk to them and you can monger together.
The girls are not so easy identify for a newbee in that place, because the better looking girls are sitting on tables the whole evening. One possibility to attack is the dancing floor where they are from time to time or just pass by and smile at them when they smile back they are probably working girls. The majority of them come from the ex soviet union and go for RMB 800/h or € 100/150 for 2h. I can recommand a blond 24 year old blond from Kiev, sorry I forgot the name. I think all the girls around the bar are definately professionals.
The Treasury Island still is a good place for a drink and maybe more, but once again it is not easy.especial when you are alone- to go to the tables where they are sitting.

Great - got that off my chest.
There is still lots to do for Mongers. There is still KTV with takeout ranging from 800-1000RMB for ST or 1500+ for overnight or for higher class you can pay upwards of 2500 for ST. But half the fun is actually the games you get to play at the KTV establishment.
There is also Sauna along the lines of what you would find in Macau (ok not quite as good but something like that).
I have given details in my previous posts. Feel free to update me with others but check those out first if you are hankering for something to do.

The chun xiu lu sauna is completely closed and looks as if it is being gutted. Whether or not this is a refurbishment or its been closed and taken over, I dont know, but it certainly wont be open for a while judging by the work they seem to be doing to it.

All of the Starbucks in Beijing now offier free wireless internet access. You could work from there and then walk over to one of the many 5 star hotels and print your documents in their business centers. There are many print shops all over town where you could get it done cheaper, but you would need to speak Chinese. A hotel business center will charge a premium, but they will speke English and accept credit cards should you have a large bill. There is also a FedEx/Kinkos store on the east 3rd ring. This will be cheaper than the business centers, but more expensive than the local print shops. The also will speak English and accept credit cards.

Cross the street and turn right. Walk down the street until you get to a 4 way intersection. You will see the Cafe Del Mar and a Starbucks on your right hand side across the street. Staying on the same side of the street turn left. You will pass a bank and some massage parlors. These were once hand job joints, but I think they have been "cleaned up" in the last few weeks. You will see a large realestate office with a big yellow sign. The pharmacy is just past this office. Inside they have a 4 pack of Viagra and Cialis for 495 RMB. The 4 pack of Levitra was 395 RMB. They also have the pills available in singles for 128 RMB each.

CJWIf you are going to work on late night, Starbucks may not be a choice since most of them close on 10pm or 11pm. Their is a HK Style Resturant next to Landmark Hotel 4stars (opposite of the Great Wall Sheraton) open 24hours and offer free internet access.
For printing, you take a cab and can go to the Fedex Kinkos store on the east 3rd ring road (cost is about RMB10), there are other local printing stores close to Kinkos store as well.
I just came back to Beijing a week ago and found the new situation not as bad as reported. One Bar down (a Big one) can not make it, there are still lot of places to go, to meet your girl for the night. I have been to several bars where there were some few Mongolian girls or (for me new) Philippine girls. They knew exactly why they were there.
So do not be so pessimistic about the fun in Beijing. You just just has to move more around to look it up.
Also the BBS I use to visit are still offering the good work :-)

The harder part for me is if I don't have an old package available to show them. I have no clue what the name is in Chinese. The pharmacy in the basement of Kerry Centre was handy as the vitamins are in a glass cabinet so you can see the English names on them as well. My fingers are at least able to point in many languages... :)

Some people didn't like Maggie's. Probably, because they were not admitted. Can't blame them. However, I have a Japanese wife, and both of us are not accepted at many clubs in Tokyo, due to the fact that I'm a foreigner. You won't see me ranting and raving about this in the Tokyo section. Instead, we quietly enjoy the hospitality of the Tokyo clubs where we are admitted.
The closing of Maggie's was just the first salvo in a drawn-out war against all kinds of P4P in Beijing and elsewhere in the run-up to the Olympics. That was expected and predicted.
In the meantime, "the old regular Maggie’s posters" (me included) kept their mouths shut. Reporting has long become counter-productive.
Also as a reflection of the market conditions, the Beijing section has deteriorated to trading information about where to find free Internet access, or printing services at a discount. The P4P paradigm has shifted to pay for printouts. I can attest to the fact that there is little else worth posting.

Last weekend I met with my Mongolian friend and we shared a good time, also on Monday. Tuesday evening I went to a massage place. I had a voucher from a visit there over a year ago. I tried to call the place again first and was lucky to find it open. I had a good experience at The Den on a Friday night recently.
Took home a good looking Chinese girl. She wanted 800 RMB for 1 shot. We agreed on 1000 RMB for 2 shots. I'm not sure if that price is "normal" or a good deal but I was happy ....
There were around 7 or 8 WLs in The Den around midnight - Chinese, Mongolian, Russian .....
The lady I took back to my place was attractive, good body and gave good service.
The Den is also a nice place for non-smokers to eat and drink. No smoking inside. Food - reasonable quality and prices.

Just want to introduce myself to the board. It seems like some creative action is required to invstigate the scene, which has gone underground due to the Olympics.
I will be there for 2 months, before, during and after the Games.

I am in the same situation as you, although have already been taking regular short trips there. Have not tried anything yet but while looking around at apartments it appears there are still options everywhere. It has certainly not all gone underground.
The Cafe Del Mar bar near the lido recently was sold and is now being run by new owners. The party was on at CDM last Friday with many people drinking, dancing, and enjoying the band. Around midnight it was busted by the cops, with their now common ID checks. 2 hours later a group of 8 uniform police men entered the Lido and knocked on the guest room doors of individuals seen leaving bars in the area with girls.
Needless to say, things are not safe for the casual / tourist wanting a taste of our beautiful Asian girls.

Hm, after reading the forum for some time and no real reply on my earlier post here about outcalls appeared, I was offered some advise via PM on what to do around my hotel (not sure if the name is really relevant to the story). Funnily, it was mentioned to me that I should either just call the massage service inside the hotel. Though it presumably wasn't good. Or go out and look around a little perplex, wait for the right girl to approach and bargain to get a night for a reasonable price. Hm, since I went out anyway for a drink I could check out the scene: No girls, just 2 guys asking me if I wanted women, one said he could send them for 800/h or 1, 200/night to my room. I should just tell him my room number. Told him I wanted to have a look at the selection first and he said I could check them out at the KFC.
I first wasn't sure what to do and still hoping for a bar with drinking girls to just have some casual fun. But when I came back empty (at least by checking the area around the hotel) I decided to have a look. He quoted me 1, 500 now and I told him he had quoted 1, 200 before. He agreed, but now I offered 800 since it was already late. We settled on 1, 000 and he brought one girl via a mini-bus. Didn't like her and 5 min later another bus came with two girls. One tall, more korean looking, and one very small girl. Of course it was dark but she had a nice smile and replied in english when I talked to her, so I gave it a try. Of course he wanted the money right there but quickly agreed to be paid after.
So how did it go? First of all (and I am not sure how others think about this) the walk back to my room was one of the most embarassing experiences ever. The girl was quickly spotted to be a pro by security and they asked something in unfriendly sounding Chinese to her. I quickly took her arm like she was my GF, but in fact everyone in the lobby had noticed what was going on. My dear.
When we arrived in the room she first showed a very nice attitude, humorous personality and she was actually quite cute with her little english. Well, not the best looking girl IMHO, but still OK and also very exotic (very slim, dark skin). We showered together and when I came back she was covered in the bed, horny smile on her face. We talked a bit and then I started to softly kiss and touch her. She didn't do much with me, but quite enjoyed what I was doing, having several climaxes until she finally said she wanted me inside her. Right on. The whole script was what I was looking for.
We went to the action and again she was very into it. When I kissed her ear her whole body trembled. But. And this is a bit but. She suddenly said to me I should hurry because time was already up. Hm, didn't we say whole night? She explained she could not stay that long because her sister was home alone and that it must have been a big misunderstanding. Yeah, of course. She saw that I wasn't agreeing to that and called her boss who told me that the price for one night was 1, 800 and I needed to pay the extra. Of course I said I wasn't going to do that since we agreed on 1, 000 and she promised to call back. Followed more conversation in broken english, several calls, the girl pretty upset. I meantime got dressed because I simply had enough from the whole drama.
I told her to leave right away with half the money (which I think was still generous). She called again, then I spoke to the guy who I agreed with outside. He now said she would stay for 1, 000 as agreed or could give me a handjob if I paid 600. But I simply had enough. I told him to go to hell, gave her the 500 plus the chocolate from the hotel. End of story. Not sure what others think, but negotiating and cheating like that basically killed any desire.
Why the hell is it so difficult in China to find someone offering good service on an agreed price?

First of all thanks for posting, good to see how things are currently and you did not do much wrong but still they smelled you are a newbie and tried to take advantage of this.
You accepted a stiff price, maybe this is the going rate at the moment, but still. The walk of shame is written in extent here, your hotel normally is very GF, last time I was there the SW were in the lobby approaching customers. But the crackdown affects all places unless they know you very well, what security wanted was just to register her, be arrogant to them, let her show her passport (which is BTW good for you too and it will work out. She seemed to be a nice girl, but when she started the scam you should have thrown her out with no pay immediately, you had an arrangement. You can also always go back to the pimp and make him a scene, works. I had something similar once, throw them out and book it as experience. Remember China is tolerating prostitution but now in Beijing, not really, Olympics clean-up. Just keep trying, you will get the local sense soon. Regarding bars. I am not the bar type but what I read here at the moment little choice, inflated prices and a bad 2000 RMB experience is worse than a 600 one, or not.

Obviously some basic research and mail thread searching have been done before sending my "ridiculous" questions to our fellow hobby-ists in BJ - otherwise I wouldn't ask - Where do we monger NOWADAYS?
Old postings in BJ are done and dusted. This definitely counts in the city of Beijing. In the last couple of post - that goes back to as early as beginning of this year - I have not noticed any interesting BBS spots with good fun. Therefore this doesn't sound whining to me but just a very normal question in the right mail thread to you all. Do you agree?
The explanation on the Olympic crack down and therefore the lack of mongering spots sounds as a reasonable explanation but if any of you have any other sparkling BBS locations and rating experiences, then we are all happy to know. I believe that is the power of a forum like this - to get everyone accessed to the most up-to-date and recent information.
If you have this happy experience and you afford to share this, then we are all grateful for sharing !

Did any of you really read the posts, the rtff and use search???? It is everywhere but a bit undercover, open your eyes, search yourself and report back in a clever way. Due to the closing of M and related events until Olympics close you will not find the Dummies Guide to mongering here because too much attention is deadly right now. Pay Jackson, get informed here and use PM.
Sorry for being blunt but I cannot hear this whining anymore. Try to find a WG in the US that is difficult, expensive and dangerous but in China if you are willing to do a little research and think out of the box, no problem.

Back from Beijing after two days there.
Went to Absenta on Friday night : lots of girls, partying and talking together (Russian ones, mostly).
Back to hotel as things didn't seem very promising as I didn't figure out how to start conversation with any of them...
Phoned one number I had found on Craigslist before leaving for China :
13681021534 : There came Helen (or so she likes to be called), petite, cute, etc. (see pics) for one hour. Negotiated down to RMB900. Good experience, but nothing to write home about.
Next day, was too shattered to go mongering, so called another number:
13341110650, and there came Qiqi, who negotiated down to RMB1,000. She eventually gave me her private number so as to go freelance, I suppose (and maybe get more money for herself). I can give it in pm.
In the street in front of my hotel, a guy handed me cards for masssage girls (see attached documents). Even though I can't read Chinese, I think they speak for themselves.
Overall, not too bad an experience in Beijing, mongeringwise, but I guess you have to have been there for a long time before you really get the knack of knowing how to do things and where to do them...

But what I am so frustrated about is the way they do "business" (maybe you read my post in the SH forum earlier). I mean I am very well willing to pay higher (compared to other places.) price if the service is what I want (GFE without time rush) and there is no trickery, no scam.
Of course I could have thrown her out or could have made him a scene, but I didn't really want to attract much attention and cause trouble (I almost got "half" the promised thing, e. G. One hour of quite good fun). Also I could have kept negotiating, forcing them to stick to the agreement. But as I said that whole drama already killed my mood. I was simply frustrated.

A quick correction - Cafe Del Mar has all new bar tenders and wait staff, but it is still owned by the same people. I spoke to the owner yesterday and was told that they have resolved to just live with the random police raids untl after the Olympics. As long as everyone has a valid visa and is properly registered with the Public Security Bureau then they will not get into trouble. The key issue is that in the past most of the working girls from out of town (ie, Mongolians) would not register with the PSB. There is no down side to them registering, but they are just afraid to do so. Please encourge our northern sisters to register, as it will certainly keep them out of trouble and her in Beijing!

No offence! Obviously you did some research before, so that is good and yes purpose here is to exchange info, which is happening on most of the threads. However if you read carefully what e. G Zhuren just wrote and also what is written in the posts of the seniors here, at the moment sharing too clearly here in Beijing is contraproductive. Why posting a certain area to get it raided next day? And specifically the BBS scene is changing on a daily base, difficult to access for non-Chinese (speaking) and if we do not get what we are looking for does not necessarily mean there is nothing available. Everybody is rightfully cautious these days and for now exchanging how to do things is much better than giving out exact locations. There is no bad intention but as everything here in China also we have to follow the flow. As said almost everything is still there as it caters 99. 9% to local needs but for now we have to find out how to access it. And be very careful. A new sherrif is in town and he will produce results, our choice whether we are a target or not.

Also, residents are encouraged to ALWAYS carry their passports with valid visa, AND their temporary residence registration on them at all times. Hotel guests, carry your passports and key cards. Technically, failure to do so can land you in the slammer for 15 days - at the sole discretion of Beijing's Finest. ANYBODY who doesn't stay at a hotel - you, even your week-end house guests - must be properly registered at the Police station. A painless process which can get painful if omitted.

It was a Sunday and I decided to check out the Ritan area for some Russian targets. First I went to HW and found that it was closed - is this usually the case on Sunday nights? Then decided to pay a visit to Absenta as I had never been there before. Initially had some trouble finding it but it is actually only 5-10 minutes walking distance from HW. At Absenta saw some ok looking girls but upon asking the staff if any of them were available for takeout I was told otherwise. The guy did tell me to go to Treasure Island which is located right next to HW and the Ritan Hotel. I had been there in the past but this time came up empty.
No choice but to head back to the hotel and call my longtime KTV connection. She actually told me that all bars and KTVs have been ordered to close down for 3 days to observe a mourning period for the Sichuan earthquake.
I will be going to beijing in a month. I found this link through terb just little while ago. Wow 206 pages. I hope to find some useful information. Thank you all.

First of all I want to introduce myself to the forum. The hell knows why I did not found this forum earlier. The last nights I spent hours to RTTF and found myself looking into a mirror GF Hotels, experiences, scams, Mongolians (yes I am also addicted to them), M, The Den, etc. What could it have been a great time the last two years if I had known the magic phrase earlier?
I am not a native Englisch speaker so please be patient if there are some mistakes.
I am semi divorced (I am living in China my family in Europe) Sounds first ideal for mongering but. Live sucks I am not living in BJ or SH! Somewhere in the middle of nowhere roughly 5 hours by car away from BJ in a small town with 2 million citizens well known as the only bloody long nose which is so stupid to do so. And on top lousy beer and my favorite friend JD not available. Must I have been drunk? As I have signed my contract. Chance for hunting equals ZERO! Every move is spotted and within one hour everybody in the company knows where I have been. But every third or fourth week break out yep, thirsty like a camel after a Sahara crossing and horny like a tout heading to BJ. Live can be so wonderful (And it was wonderful be sure)
Some weeks ago same procedure, going to BJ, checking in, showering and then? Cell phone ringing, Grrrr some colleagues just arrived from the airport and expect a meeting in the BJ headquarter. Fuck, short fight with myself meeting vs. Mongering okay I lost the fight so. Yes right meeting. And that on a Friday afternoon! Battle suit exchanged against casual business here we are. Welcome back to the real live. I entered the car my driver said San Litun? My response was No, Headquarter. Can you imagine how the face from him looks like?
With a smile in his face he starts driving and as shorter the distance to the HQ was so broader becomes his smiling. After the meeting Dinner invitation. Guys are you crazy? My little bear wants to explore the Mongolian world and you want a Dinner? Accompanied them to the Kempinski and there in the Exec. Lounge I met my friend JD (Double with Coke) by the way complementary the whole day until 11. PM! I should consider to book next time the Kempinski that would reduce the expenses for drinks dramatically. Meanwhile the rest showed up and we had several shots JD (DwC). 4 jet lagged Europeans and two local expats (married and untouchable) should not be a big problem this night. Next station Schindler’s near by M (beer). Imagine what they choose? Bingo Monster Curry sausage with French fries. I believe this was the expensiest Curry sausage in the world (cost for a flight ticket from Europe to China and back, Hotel etc.) Afterwards a turn through the Russian world near Ritan (Wodka), The Den (Beer), Babyface (Beer and JD) here I met a freebie I took month ago she gave me her new tel. No. But the coordination of my fingers must have been a little bit disoriented because it looks like I have keyed in the wrong figures for what reason ever. Shit! (And it was not Friday the 13.) At 2 AM the jet lagged, near by the loss of their mother language, decided to end the tour and suggest to meet again the next evening. Fine, nice idea it is my free weekend in Beijing and I have nothing else to do. (Translation: Go to hell what do you think I am in Beijing for? ) From there we headed to a club (JD) and there? Party, Party, Party. Incredible overcrowded. But a lot of beauties, local ones, female expats etc. Now you can say after an excessive meeting with my friend JD nearly every fisher boat looks like a mega yacht but. I will think about that may be you are right. Obviously some pros are sitting at the bar but they didn’t approach you as you are used to it from M. May be it is also a politic from the house to take care about that. So call it here end of the day with the two untouchable’s as bodyguards beside no chance for mongering. Okay lets get ready for rumble and start a Chinese drinking game with them. Be sure they lost the battle. As I have said thirsty like a camel after a Sahara crossing. And Camels can drink a lot.
At 5. 30 AM we left the club. Alone (and that in Beijing) Poor little bear tomorrow I will show you around be sure.

1.) with a little more than two months to go until the olympics, the city is jittery. everybody is working feverishly to complete construction everywhere. on the huge billboards at the construction fences, the ads touting real estate in silly english are gone. they are replaced by huge announcements that the olympics will be “harmonious” and “safe.” and just in case someone doesn’t get the subtext, the posters show military in front of the birds nest.
2.) the city is in big clean-up mode. anything that may reflect negatively must go. the funny mopeds with a passenger compartment have been confirep001ed and destroyed. new garbage bins everywhere.
3.) of course, there is a big crackdown against vice, against drugs (foremost) and prostitution. at the olympics, beijing won't get caught with its pants down and a reefer in its mouth. raids against known places are a common occurrence.
4.) you don’t want to get caught at the wrong side of such a raid. watching from the balcony of a restaurant in sanlitun while a suspected drug den is being raided may be fun and exciting. sitting at the bar of that (unbeknownst to you) drug den while it’s surrounded by swat teams is a different story.
5.) likewise, all the known mongering spots are being targeted and raided constantly. many have closed. some hold on. keeping up with what is open and what is closed is impossible.
6.) rtff does not apply any longer to the beijing section. all info is overtaken by events.
7.) handing out new info is counterproductive. it’s simply an invitation to a raid and arrests. newbies, and members with low post counts: don’t be put off if your posts and pms asking for info remain unanswered.
8.) most of the mongolian, russian, philippine etc contingent has left the city. some have staid behind.
9.) now is the time where a list of phone numbers of solid providers, collected in the past, comes in very handy. do not share those numbers with strangers.
10.) of course, these new developments will not totally stamp out the world’s oldest profession in beijing. it simply drives it where it already is in many other places of this world: underground.
11.) gone are the days where you could go to maggie’s, look at what’s available at the wall, point at a girl that tickled your fancy or other parts of your body, gone are the days when you just said: “get your coat.”
12.) now, the last stragglers pop up one day here, one day there. they are in bars, discos. if they get too obvious, they get kicked out by mangement. if management looks the other way, police will show up. you need to get around and look. if you can’t tell a mongolian from a chinese, you are lost. you need to be able to read body language, interpret a smile, a wink correctly.
13.) total strangers will become the victims of inflated prices and scams. like all over the world: when the trade gets driven underground, prices go up, as do incidents of scams.
14.) lastly, the days where foreigners were treated as royalty, and where the highest price for moronic behavior was a free trip to the airport, those days are over. china has been the target of vile criticism all over the world, and we can’t blame them when they look at foreigners a bit differently these days.
15.) keep your visas up to date, keep your passports on you at all times, along with your “registration form of temporary residence.”
16.) we wish you a safe and harmonious stay.

Back from Beijing after two days there.
Phoned one number I had found on Craigslist before leaving for China :

Just spent the past week in Beijing, and as bad as all the reports have been, I suspect this past week has been an unusually bad one. The Chinese authorities declared 3 days of mourning this past week, shutting down virtually all bars and nightclubs. Even Sanlitun Street was dark, except for a few candlelight displays on the sidewalks or in the bar windows. Police were walking around, no doubt to ensure the observed mourning period. Even the MPs and KTVs I tried to check out were closed. Unfortunately, my work schedule didn't allow me to go anywhere once the closing was lifted but I suspect it was pretty univeral. The TV offerings on my hotel were atrocious, for example. Only talking head channels were on. All others (including HBO, Cinemax, National Geographic) were blackened out with a notice that all entertainment channels were closed in observance. Thursday they were back on again.
Lousy timing for me, but then as bad as things were to begin with, perhaps I didn't really miss so much after all.

I tried that mamasan a 3-4 days ago. She's honest, but I would not repeat.
Negotiate 600 (she asks 800-1000 depending on the face of the tourist, I guess). She can offer you to show 2-3 girls, who come by taxi to the lot.
I chose a nice one, but not so sexy to remember, who told me only on the taxi she was not giving BJ, even CBJ. :-(

Here are some general observations regarding Beijing:
5.) Likewise, all the known mongering spots are being targeted and raided constantly. Many have closed. Some hold on. Keeping up with what is open and what is closed is impossible.
7.) Handing out new info is counterproductive. It’s simply an invitation to a raid and arrests. Newbies, and members with low post counts: Don’t be put off if your posts and PMs asking for info remain unanswered.

5) I have been casually monitoring police activities at the places citizens of the evil empire normally hang out at - including what I consider was totally legit places, and the raid frequency ranges from 1 in 3 to 1 in 5 days. Times vary, but seem to be mainly late in the evening. I have never seen this type of effort ever - even back in 1998.
7) Totally agree. Who remembers the Baskin robins bench at China World, or even the nice lady's out the front of starbucks at china world. These were cleaned out over 12 months ago - and I still feel it was because of the posts. The situation today is orders of magnitude worst. Be careful when you provide any posts - try not to be too obvious.

I read in some previous report that now everything is "underground". Well, anything, but really don't say "UNDERGROUND"!
If you are a white man, you'll be chased wherever you go by mamasans offering you massages and sex.
It was very embarassing for me to walk at night on the lake shore of Quian Hai and Hou Hai, chased by 3-4 girls all yelling at me "want massage? Lady bar? sex??". Everybody seemed to ignore this, like it was normal, but I would have liked more privacy lol. This is not really "underground", not to mention
the many SWs and BBS that we may see around.
Anyway, this is my summary of current mongering options in BJ (better: what I experienced).
1. MAMASANS
You'll find them in front of any hotel with at least 4 stars as well as in bar areas like Quian Hai.
They chase you and offer you massage, etc. They give you small cards like those already scanned and posted in this forum some days ago, with a cell number.
Unfortunately, since all clubs and bars seems to be closed, this was almost my only option for mongering in BJ.

In front (not the lobby!) of all 4*/5* hotels. I saw several of them in front of Sheraton Great Wall, Kampinsky, Kunlu, Crowne Plaza. I guess you'll find them also in front of your hotel, whatever it is.

(there's a wonderful restaurant on that lake, by the way: at your right, when you are at the South extrem of the lake where couples dance till 11pm), in front of lake shore, with red lights.)

They offer you massage and girls, for ST and LT. Girls are offered "young, beautiful" and you'll be asked to have a look (looka! looka! no pay!). Prices in range 600-1000 for ST, for the same girl I guess.
Just negotiate down to 600. You'll not lose anything and you'll have to give a tip to the girl anyway.

PS: I tried to call the number they gave me later, but obviously it was off. This place is a plain rip-off trap for foreigners.
FINAL QUESTION: why the police is now working to close good bars, where nice girls were hanging around offering sweet company and friendship for a fair price, and such a shit hole is left open to trap tourists?

In the past, I tried some of the SW near the Kempinski / Great Wall Sheraton. They all were nice on the street when approaching you. In the room, they were all rushed, with bad attitude. Wanted money first, then a short fuck, but either too dry or complaining about size, pushing you. All in all, I don't recall any good experience with a SW from there. And some I had are still there.

I have not been to Beijing in a few years -- I am very curious how much costs have gone up, for example taxis, in 2004 were like 11 RMB, the meters went faster at night. I am sure since that time costs have gone up big time.
Taxi still starts at RMB 10, but thats for the first 3 Km (instead of 5).
Its RMB2 every other km on top of that initial 3km (used to be 1.60 and 1.20)
At night (after 11pm), they add 10% to the fair, hence the RMB 11 starting price.
For distance more than 15km, and you don't plan to come back to the same place, you need to add 15% more.
If you are smart, and what you wanted is a round trip, say to the driver you will be back, and have the meter indicator on wang fan ( 往返 , round trip) than dan cheng ( 单程 , single trip). This will get rid of that extra 15% IF it is more than 15km. This applies 24 hrs. A lot of drivers won't tell you this, because they make more.

Most hotel in china do provide the services whether it is a family hotel or a mongering hotel. Most do it very discreetly. Usually the bellhop can provide what you are seeking. they usually add a markup to the standard price in the area.

I usually stay in the Hwang Fu Ji - street / area as the offices I have to see are around there.
Hotels like the Dynasty (under renovation) Crowne Plaza etc. are there.
In the evening parts of this area are closed to the car-traffic and a lot of food-stalls and street-cafes are opening.
In front of the various hotels SW are hanging around and aproching you - going price for 2 hours is 1000 RMB but like with most Chinese woman the performance is not too good.
The chinese authorities did quite a good cleaning act and no russian or mongolian girls are at present time available. Maggie´s is closed, in Moscow no girls hang around, the irish pub is closed, Pig&Whissle in the Lido Holiday Inn is cleaned out.

Yeah, I have been reading about that. I get a two year visa because I know a counselor general and he processes it for me. A friend of mine runs the European division of a large multi-national. He got his visa fine, but some customers they were taking could not and he called me to try through my friend. They were able to get their visas through this backdoor, but when tourists with Olympic tickets have that many problems, there are going to be some scantily attended venues at the games and some disappointed hotel operators. I was making a reservation at the Kunlun last night and they actually offered me a special Olympic rate (knowing I had a visa) that was only 25% of their initial published rate for the games...hmmmm.
Fwiw, my 2 cents. I just returned from BJ and 1) I had no problems with getting a visa a few weeks before I left. I'm U. S. And was there last year. Don't know if that makes a difference, and 2) did get some action. I won't be too specific, don't want to help China shut down more places! Yes, Maggie's is still closed and I couldn't access this site while in China. Which was an unpleasant surprise. So mainly, I stuck to the hotels. The in-room massages which are overpriced but did get some good service and one well-known club that was attached to a hotel, but as always made clear that it was not run by the hotel! , had a fairly good selection of attractive women after you pay the 100 RMB entrance fee.
Not sure how much more to add given the current climate in BJ, maybe it'll be better after the Olympics?

A follow up to my last post, since Starbucks has enough locations in Beijing to make tracking difficult I am not hesitant to say they have helped me score again. I was in a local one yesterday in the early evening.complimented a young lady on her dress as she and her friend sat down at a table next to mine. I was just wandering around somewhere downtown, near the pedestrian-only area in front of the Dongan Department store when two girls walked past me and said 'Hello'. They turned around and followed me saying they wanted to chat and practice their english. I hadn't really spoken to anyone other than surly Chinese airport staff all day, so I figured this would be better than nothing. After about five minutes of walking and chatting, they asked me if I want to take a break and chat over some tea. It sounded harmless and they took me into a building and up some stairs and escalators to a normal looking cafe. These girls then led me to the back where there appeared to be several private rooms, one with some stools and an elaborate table with cups and little teapots.
A younger girl came in and sat down and started to prepare the tea. I asked how much does this cost and they showed me a menu. Each page went into detail about the tea in badly translated english and then noted 50 RMB at the bottom of the page. I thought that was pretty expensive for some tea, but since I came up here, I may as well try one. The tea ceremony went on rather quickly, with a quick pour over the cups and teapots with boiling water. The girl preparing the tea poured for all three of us and we drank. One of the girls broke into this convoluted story just to distract me until the second cup was poured. By the time I had my phone out looking at the time and saying it's time I should go, the third cup was already there and I drank it. I said I really have to go and the serving girl brought the bill. Of course I was shocked when it said 50*3*3=450 RMB and then below that was another 200 RMB 'room charge'. I was totally in shock, like physically dizzy and disorient. I couldn't believe I had been led into such an obvious trap. I pulled out a wad of bills in my front pocket that only amounted to about 180 RMB and said I don't have much money and one of the girls I was with said I could put it one my credit card. (I wish I had brought one, just so I could have done that and then canceled it, but I didn't have it with me) I said that price was really expensive, but she said 'oh it's not that bad, everything is expensive because of the Olympics...', I scoffed at such BS but for some reason I didn't get mad or argue more, I was already wallowing in self-pity. Then I totally hate myself for what I did next. I pulled out the rest of the large bills that I kept in my other pocket (usually for other kinds of paid services) and paid the full amount and then left feeling really victimized. Once I found my way back outside, I was shocked at my own poor handling of the situation. I could have fought to pay only a third of the bill or threaten to call the police or something else. I thought I was being nice to those girls (perhaps the biggest crime - they weren't even very pretty) by chatting with them, and they totally took advantage of me. It is a terrible feeling and it totally ruined my time in Beijing and has given me several sleepless nights because I am such a loser to allow that to happen and not fight back. I also feel terrible for allowing that to happen because these girls and others like them with just do this even more because the chance of a big payoff (that was alot of money!) is just too tempting. I can only imagine the Beijing cops laughing in my face if I tried to report something like that. (Of course they crackdown on the other stuf that foreign men can actually enjoy)
All I can hope is that some of you guys reading this who are going to Beijing soon and have honest, lame-ass personalities like me, please remember to keep your wits about you. Anyone who approaches you first in China almost always has an ulterior motive, the people worth meeting in China won't just randomly talk to you in the street. Please be careful and safe.

If on the othe hand you stay at a low level backpacker hangout for under 200 RMB a day they have big signs in their lobby detailing the three most common scams:
- the art gallery scam
- the tea ceremony scam
- the lady bar scam

So my usual reaction when offered tea, art or a bar is a direct question back how much they charge for a blowjob. Sorts out the wheat from the chaff pretty fast (all chaff so far, sorry).

You made every mistake in the book and feel justified in beating yourself up a bit over it, especially as you knew what could happen. I am going to have a 11 hour layover in Beijing from about 7 a.m. until about 6:00 p.m. I was wondering if any of our more seasoned Beijing campaigners out there could tell me if I have enough time to leave the airport and go someplace to be serviced. Sounds like a good a way as any to spend a long layover; although, I do not know one word of Chinese. Anyone have any suggestions??

Let me break it down for you.
7am-8am : Getting luggage and getting out of the airport (longer if at T3)
8am-10am : Getting to the city (busy hour)
10am-2pm : Getting lunch, maybe get targeted for scams if you are
caucasian.
2pm-3pm : Found a place if you are lucky, finish deed in 1hr.
3pm-4pm : Start looking for ways to get back to the air port. (starting to
be busy hour)
4pm-6pm : Argue-ing with the land crew saying you are JUST 1 min
late, and you should be able to get on board.
Seriously, unless you have people setting up things for you, or you know your way around Lido/Wang Jing area. I won't recomend you looking for action. But feel free to come in to the city for lunch or coffee break. Just make sure you are already on the cab/bus heading for the air port around 2pm (1:30 if international).
I once thought having 2hrs extra is enough, so I stayed and had a 2nd helping. Got to the airport at 2:45pm for a 4pm flight (domestic). Caught a fucking long Q, and ended up getting to the counter at 3:15. EXACTLY 45mins before my flight, and they denied me. Staff said need to be MORE than 45mins, so, 46 mins would be ok. The staff did call a few phone calls to see if i can get on, but no go.
Had to change my ticket, paying full price (RMB 600 extra), and 6 more hrs of waiting. Tho, I met someone at the changing counter and helped her translate her situation, and got on her bed at our destination, but thats out of my point.
Hope someone know the airport area better to help you with your situation.

My flight was delayed because of mechanical problems a few years ago. And I missed the connecting flight to Hefei. The airline put me up in their hotel for the night. No charge. I ordered an in room massage, and a cute 19 year old showed up. She said no extra services. Cost was roughly 100 yuan for an hour, I forget exactly. Good massage, good company so I asked for another hour. And another hour. I got everything I wanted. (I didn't want fs.)

Doe anyone know if Holly's near Ritan Park still open? From what I read as of two months ago it was still in operation. I'll be a little surprised if it's still opened just before the Olympics. I would NOT adventure to Holly's or Hard Rock or any other place anytime soon if they are open for business.

I just popped into the handy local sauna before going home to bed. This place is entirely aimed at the Chinese market. Nobody can speak English, they never have any laowais, and the standards of cleanliness would make a Septic scream.
Last week, Wednesday or Thursday I think, I popped in for the first time in months. I am thinking a ratio of 2 girls per guy should get us started and ensure a good variety. Such an weekend would not be for the budget minded, but if anyone is interested let me know. I have seen places that sleep 10, so we should be able to do 5 guys and 10 girls without problem. I the demand is high enough I might even be able to get some girls to travel in from Mongolia...

Well since not many of you really seemed to think that it would be worth trying to be serviced during my 7am to 6pm layover I was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations as to what I might do, or am I stuck in the airport for 12 hours?There are possibilities for getting services in the airport area, if you really want it and have a stop-over of more than just a few hours. Simply book a room in the Sino-Swiss Hotel or the equivalent, but significantly cheaper Eastern Air Jinjiang Hotel. Both hotels are 5 minutes by taxi from the airport. Try to negotiate 1/2 room rate for staying only 12h.
Easiest, but most expensive option is certainly using the hotel's health service or one of the agencies. In the small street of the Eastern Air Jinjiang hotel (500m from the Sino Swiss), there is a BBS with small rooms in the back. Nothing special, but enough to release the pressure. There is also a massage place in the larger street of the Sino-Swiss towards the upper end, which however may not offer specials. You may also find other BBS or massage places in this area, if you go out and search for it.
Let me share some of my past experience:

i find this interesting more because of the way it was written than the myriad of half-truths and rumors in it. it's almost from the 1950's in its pure american prudishness. i mean come on, someone got a lap dance? wow, no wonder they shut down the place. some guy felt like a naughty schoolboy for going in to peep. fuckin hilarious! the only snippet worthwhile is the tingling hope that maggies will rise from the ashes in september... :p at that point we can start recreating the all-new memoires of beijing nightlife!

just like the time magazine „quote,“ this newsweek article is badly timed and badly written. you can feel the frustration of the writer: here they are ready to entertain the readers with lurid stories about sex and the olympics, just to find out that there is nothing to write about, because nothing is left: beijing has been scrubbed clean, and it took time and newsweek months to realize it.
actually, the newsweek story is written as if maggie’s is still open. one has to read through two thirds of verbiage to come to the same conclusion as the writer when he filed the crap: “oh my god. maggie’s is closed! ”
for someone who supposedly has a business in the neighborhood, the writer is badly informed. all the stuff in the story is warmed-over old rumors, research by google.
“police detained maggie’s managers and legal representatives for questioning, the official said. he did not say what if any charges or other consequences came of it.” that’s it? the newsweek reporter should hand in his union card because of sloppy research: ron & gary were not just “detained for questioning.” they were sentenced to one year in jail, and that’s where they rot now.
come on, get real: an alleged lap dance makes it into print, maggie’s management in the slammer for one year doesn’t?

Can anybody reccommend a hotel or warn me of any caveats.
Fortunately I don't need any reccomendations for mongering places.
I'm already booked out thoughout my stay.
