A foreigner in Guangzhou recently had 20,000 USD and 4,000 RMB stolen off him by a prostitute when he was sleeping.

The 43 year-old man stumbled out of a bar in Guangzhou's Hengfu Lu at around 5:00 one recent morning, and set his sights on finding a prostitute. The man eventually found a 50 year-old woman named Luo, who in broken English demanded a 500 RMB fee. After some negotiation, the foreigner got her down to 300 RMB, and the pair proceeded to get in a taxi.

After arriving at a hotel on Dongfeng Lu, Luo noticed that the foreigner had a load of cash on him when he gave her money. After doing their thing, the man then fell asleep, giving Luo the perfect opportunity to run away with his cash.

Police eventually tracked Luo down in Sichuan, and found that she had already spent all the money she stole, and it was also found she had previously committed a similar offense, and has been placed into custody. Due to engaging in prostitution, the foreigner was held for ten days.

So I am planning to do a 72 hour layover on my next trip to Thailand. I RTF and still have some questions.

1. What is a cheap, girl friendly hotel ($30-50)? Is this even safe? I heard about police going to hotel rooms after the crackdown. I don't plan to use it much. Spa during the day and then a club like Kama at night.

The beauty of the Guangzhou airport is once you exit the Customs and Immigration hall, head downstairs to the subway stop that is located right in the terminal building. You will need some coins or small bills to buy a token from the ticket machine. The machine has English. And just click on the map for the station you want to go to. There are many sauna / spas in Guangzhou. One I went to is at the Taojin stop on line 5. It is located in the Ocean hotel. See post # 2458 a couple of pages back. From the airport on line 3, you can get there in less than an hour. You have to change lines twice but suggest you don't do so at the Guangzhou Railway stop. That station will be a sea of humanity!

The Sea Palace has comfy recliner chairs where you can sleep, charge your phone and watch your individual TV, decent food and includes a massage with happy ending. All inclusive at 368 cny plus a tip for the locker boys who are the only staff not paid but rely solely on tips. IMHO a far better way to spend 11 hours compared to sitting at the airport. The staff don't speak English although the cute petite masseuse #16 did a little. When you are ready, just go up to the hostess desk in the rest area and tell them you want your massage.

In this case about 20 of us from various origins and destinations were whisked to the Country Garden Airport Phoenix Hotel which was a really nice hotel 4 to 5 stars much better than places I usually frequent these days it was a blast from my old expense account days of 20+ years ago. From landing on the tarmac to hotel check in was about 2 1/2 hours so not bad. We went through seperate lines and they explained everything pretty well and had a restaurant and I had a few glasses of Great Wall red wine which set me back about $25 USD. Better than the 2 nip bottles of Chivas which they they sodomized me to the tune of $54 USD at the airport lounge later awaiting takeoff ouch!

Nobody told me I couldn't go anywhere so as long as I made it back for the connecting flight I feel I was free to roam.

I pretty much abandoned the idea of attempting to get any action. After shooting fish in the barrel that is the Phils, Canton looked too daunting and too much work with the 6 hour free window I had. Ended up talking for a couple of hours at the hotel restaurant with a cute chubby Korean Coed studying english who was in the same bus and layover window as me though going opposite directions. Because they gave me a free temporary entry permit, effectively a 24 hour Visa. I went through seperate lines in immigration and was put up in a 4 star hotel at zero expense to myself.

4. Perhaps a "sweet young thing" might want to be your language exchange partner! (cough).

5. Report on the many thrills and spills that will intervene.

I am an absolute wally I didn't check the weather in Guangzhou & dressed like I was in KL. I have been traveling to China for many years. For several years I attempted to get some upscale providers but it was always bait and switch. Quality and quantity both very bad this season in kama. Very few latinos I could see in last four days. 50% chinese gals. Many aging legends still there since years. I had met some very nice paisas there and was told by them a while back that, Kama management treated the Colombian girls badly. They have dance floor and sitting areas only. Many girls go there and sit in groups. Any taxi driver from kama will take you there in 10 rmb. I forget the name. If you can score in normal clubs the cocktail revolution bar branch in party tier area had lots of scope on a satday night.

Also, something new at check-in was the requirement to write your phone number on their (Police) copy of your passport page. Must make it easier for them to connect-the-dots.

At about 19:00 a table barrier was set up in the lobby in front of the elevator doors. It was manned by an older prim and proper woman with a red armband. You could just tell she would take great delight in ruining your mongering plans.

The woman had a sign-in form. The "visitor" was required to check-in at the front desk. Then the elevator monitor would sign the visitor in on a page. When the visitor left, they would be checked off as not being in the room with the guest. Presumably at 23:00 they would know who was still in the guest rooms and come knocking.

At 19:30 I checked out the Kama Club. There was absolutely no one there except a bartender. I understand that the action gets started later in the evening. I don't know if you have checked the Shanghai forum here, but it seems the situation is a mess there and a couple of guys were reporting on being busted by the police for a couple of weeks.

My question is that do you think the current situation in Guangzhou is the same as shanghai now or is it just extra precautions about mongering. Meaning if you can get a girl to your room than you have succeeded and that's it or as in Shanghai you will be busted after you finish the job.

Cautioned by your post I checked out the Arab Resto Bar at Taojin Lu. It's closed & locked. And Kama. Surprisingly, when I arrived at Kama at 12:30 am the place was absolutely packed. Not a table to be had and a 50/50 mix of men and ladies. Didn't manage to find out nationalities etc as I didn't want to make it too late. I brought home a friend to my apartment hotel (will share later. The hotel, that is) which is on easy Ofo / Mobike distance from the Kama club and no issue with security at all. The taxi driver still charged 50 RMB for the ride but then you can't blame him. And I wasn't in the mood to bargain it down.

Just a head's up, stayed one night in Guangzhou last week, Fortune Hotel in Tianhe / Computer shopping area.

Cautioned by your post I checked out the Arab Resto Bar at Taojin Lu. It's closed & locked. And Kama. Surprisingly, when I arrived at Kama at 12:30 am the place was absolutely packed. Staying in the China hotel read the reviews of the Dong Fang SPA. Indeed small entry in front of the hotel but at the basement huge SPA. Arrived at the counter and was directed to go for the most expensive massage around 650 RMB. Paid and was sent to locker room. Boy helps you to undress and onward to take a shower. And here in Guangzhou, I've heard of several places so I made my list and started the mongering campaign a few days ago in a place called a Spa in a shopping mall (yes, a shopping mall) 8th floor. It is very close to Tai koo hui, Ganding metro station exit A. If you get there, just ask any guard at the mall and they'll show you to the elevator.

Just got to the reception right out of the elevator and was asked if I had a reservation, which I didn't, so they made me wait for a few minutes and then came a girl with a numbered bracelet and showed me to the lockers room. Once there, they checked my bracelet number, gave me a locker and the guy there helped putting my clothes in the locker as I undressed. Then went to the showers (not great, very old), then was given a pijama and went to the waiting area. Confortable personal reclining sofas, each one wit a TV. Then another guy came to ask me if I knew the number of the girl that I wanted, I said it was my first time in this place and that I wanted the 400 rmb massage, so he asked me how would I like my girl, to which I said young, pretty and slim hoping to get something decent hahaha. Yet another Sauna place that advertises the best of the best and. Nope. Located at the Huaweida hotel, just type that name into google maps or didi and you'll find it. Get there, go straight to the elevators and get to the 5th floor. The usual counter where you choose your package, then bracelet, locker rooms, shower, waiting area. Most Girls here are super hot, tall slim, pretty, 8's and 9's at the very least. Whats the catch? Just HJ, NO BJ whatsoever, they don't undress (not even the top), and No touching.

Now, I am not a model, but not bad looking either, sometimes I get a girl that tries to give me that shit about how bad it would be if the manager catches her braking the "rules", and most of the times I can talk my way into them breaking such rules, but not here. I was in China 2 weeks ago, visited Kama for 2 consecutive days (weekdays) . I agree with the fellows who recently posted here that the quality at there are way less than it used to be. Also take into consideration that the club now closes at 2 am, during my first visit suddenly I found all the girls started running to escape the place where the police came to the place and forced the club to close. I asked the bartender the next day & he told me that now they are forced to close at 2 am.

Despite of that if you are stuck in Guangzhou you could give it a try but do not set high expectations at all especially for who has visited Kama before.

I managed to pick up a girl from there 1000 RMB overnight not st & this could be the only positive thing & honestly the service was good she did her best to please (everything was on the menu but I didn't ask for anal so I don't know) as for the looks I would say a 7/10.

It is so sad to hear the reports from Guangzhou nowadays because I for one remember the good old days too. I lived in Guangzhou for over 15 years all in. I gave up and moved away from China in 2014. As PrinceMV2 describes, there were FS BBS, massage and saunas everywhere in town and the surrounding areas, SWs around the Garden and China Hotels 24/7. KTV with huge lineups and several night clubs were well stocked with foreign girls if that was your fancy.

It's very near to Luzing lu. This was my third visit in as many trips. Nice place in a big hotel building. Good facilities comparing price. Room nice and clean with attached shower area with bath tub. Attaching pics.
