I regularly, although not often (about 1 once every 6 weeks), visit the Feng Ding Yuan Suana (?) located on Nanjing West Road above the fake market. Had not been for a few months, although went last night and found that a lot had changed.

The service previously was always quite good, RMB 680 for line up of girls, shower in room, sometimes redrope (if girl was short enough and knew how to), and with the VIP card it was RMB 600 (700 down from 780 for full bed soapy).

So, feeling to get my monthly fix, I head over there last night. As I walk in, the attendant, whom I normally know, but have changed, told me massage RMB 600. At first I thought. "yeah, I know" and continue to give them my shoes and go in to the waiting room. A few minutes later, a guy comes in and says shower first. At this point I was like "? " okay. So follow him to public showers. I actually never knew they had a showers, jacuzzi and sauna so was shocked. Showers were a little dingy. My level of discomfort rose a little as this is not what normally happens.

After shower went back to room, then expecting to be taken to the mirror to select a girl, 5 girls were brought to my room. Okay. I asked if this was it and they said yes. Not a great selection. Nobody was ugly, but not real stunners either, so I chose number 96, who had the largest breasts.

Went to go check out this place because of a girl I knew from Heting is working there now. Its not far from the Wenshui Road subway (15-20 min walk). I took a taxi because I had no idea how far it is.

Its located on top of the Ford dealership. You have to walk right past the Ford showroom to get to the entrance. You go upstairs and have the usual shower setup. I am not sure how they work the girl selection because I just went to see the girl I normally C. I got a quick glance at a few girls as I walked down the hall. Nothing jumped out at me.

The girl I normally see is number 3. She has a nice rack and good attitude. I am quite happy with her service.

Went to Hailang 4 times over the last week or so (I know, I know. Stressful times at work, I need the escapism right now.).

Very much business as usual (3 of the visits were before the Expo closed). Quite a few customers around each time, mostly Chinese. Nobody looking worried about the crackdown. I asked the staff about it, they said they were safe (of course they would say that.).

Some stuff I gathered that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

- It's 680 RMB before 8 PM, 780 after

- If you go after 12 PM they'll ask you to pay in advance

- You can get some rest before or after in their "VIP rooms", and get noodles and beers for free. Nice. I usually do this after to relax.

- They also have nice looking girls who come and offer you massages in those rooms. I tried the ear cleaning and the neck/head massage. Both 80 RMB for only 20 minutes. Pricey but just adds some extra pampering & decadence to the whole experience, IMO worth it.

- The girls who give the massage can be hugged, cuddled etc, but supposedly are not available for FS. But they actually get very close to you (body to body) while doing the massage without you having to do anything.

Line-up is usually 15 to 20 girls. My initial observation still stands: only 2 or 3 girls are doable each time IMO. And even they aren't super-lookers. So not so much choice in the end. I don't have that much experience in Chinese saunas so I don't know how that compares to the other places eg Sacrosa, Bodi etc. Let me know if you do. Still would like to find a place with more stunners.

I can recommend #931 and #851. Both troopers, good service, and the cutest looking girls in Hailang IMO (YMMV depending on your tastes of course).

JSI traded some emails with them, they quote 800 for 1 hour, 1000 for 2 hours.

Hi friends.

I'm visiting Shanghai in the beginnig of Decemeber for a buisness trip, and I've been thinking about the possibility of getting a massage with a litte extra.

After reading about all the crackdowns I've come to the conclusion that visiting any of these KFCs or Saunas is out of the question.

And the punishment for locals is like 5000 fine plus 15 day jail plus notification to family and employer.

Like my friend's boss once got wounded up in a raid. He was tossed in jail for 3 or 4 days, didn't really know what would happen to him. So he finally caved in, and essentially bought his way out of jail for approximately 60000 RMB. It could have been a lot cheaper if he just wanted out, but the price is to make sure all the records "disappear" so his working permit wouldn't get revoked. Apparently, he was not able to fully explain his disappearance over those 4 days. So the word got out in the office, and my friend and I were laughing our heads off across the pacific.

But yeah, this is only one incident. I am not sure what is the rule and what is the exception when it comes to lining up foreigners.

Saunas are the only really unique thing here that you can't experience back in the states. Take advantage, I'll even loan you my best girl at Sacrosa, #266

Hi friends.

I'm visiting Shanghai in the beginnig of Decemeber for a buisness trip, and I've been thinking about the possibility of getting a massage with a litte extra.

After reading about all the crackdowns I've come to the conclusion that visiting any of these KFCs or Saunas is out of the question.

I don't think I would be able to cope with beeing lined up, questioned and/or arrested.It is very rare for foreigners to get in trouble patronizing one of these establishments. However, if your risk aversion outweighs your sex drive, you are better off finding another hobby. (It's KTV, by the way)


So the only option I am left with is having someone visit my hotel room.

I think we will stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel.

In that regard there are a couple of different alternatives (from what I've read):

1. Girls wandering on the streets outside the hotel.

2. Girls wandering around inside the hotel/hanging out in the hotel bar.

3. Massage services offered by the hotel itself (I don't know if these will provide anthing extra)

As far as I can se 3. Would be safer than 2. Which is safer than 1.

So, what is the risk of getting caught by doing something like this?The risk with all of these options is mainly to your wallet. Each of those options prey on newbie foreigners at hotels, and have been known to be successful with incredibly priced upsells. Also, there are stories in the forum in the case of 1 and 2 of police or security knocking on doors very late at night. Case 3. Can be very costly, more than you would pay in the US. Pretty safe, but negotiate the deal before any clothes come off. Once little man starts thinking, you are in trouble.


At what hours would you suggest making an attempt for this?

And what would happen if one gets caught?

Just a fine?

Prison and questioning for a couple of days (how on earth would I explain this to the rest of the people in my group.

Or maybe nothing at all?

I'm a total newbie at this, so any help is appreciated.

This is my first time in China, do not speak any Mandarin, etc.. Just as a background.

Went to HE on a Friday afternoon around 3pm. Guys out front usher you upstairs and the place is very nice and although they spoke no english, it was not necessary as you can just follow them and they lead you to where you change, take a shower and wait.

Brought some tea and fruit to my waiting area where I was alone, although there were other guys in the sauna/shower area.

Maybe a 20 minute wait and then brought out to a lineup of 4 girls. 3 were not that good, one (#310) was cute, petite, and young. She walks me to the room, says a few words in english and then does a standard routine as others have described. The cat, finger sucking, toe fucking, going through the motions service was boring. Tried chatting in English, tickling, etc. To liven it up, but to no real help. (as a general note, I have no problem getting girls to laugh, feel comfortable, etc. In situations and have dated asian girls, so, I realize that there are cultural differences/styles and as a real gf, it is totally different, but regarding providers, I prefer south american warmth/GFE to "asian" style which I find more young/fake innocent style. If the girl works in a brothel, how can she try to pull off being "innocent/pure/childish? ")

Personally, did not find the quality of girls or the service I got that great. But considering it was 600rmb (less than $100) one cannot complain imo. But the quality is a far cry from what I find in Brazil or LA.

When I left, I spoke with the GM who said that it had been a busy time and that is why only 4 girls. So maybe I had leftovers. He said at other times, there are 12-20 girls in the lineup, but after 7pm it is 700 rmb vs 600 rmb.

That being said, if there is a higher quality place or if someone can give me the name of a KTV where I can find better looking/model type girls for Saturday or Sunday night, that would be much appreciated. At this point, I am looking to find a better looking/more fun atmosphere and if takeout or FS is not a sure thing, that is ok. Will take my chances.

a bit of a rambling post, but i just had to write this down.

a non-mongering friend visiting from out of town wanted to go out, so we wandered into the french concession. we ended up at zapata's. damn, timing was so off. tonight i actually would have had my place to myself. rare. but have my friend staying over. so no fun for me. the wg at the bar were out in force. this was only my second time to zapata's, and this time i managed to get accosted by pretty much every wg lining the back of the bar. damn. a few real hot ones too. i'll have to go back once my friend leaves and i have another rare moment with my place free. however, i'll probably check out manhattan first

we played a couple of games of pool. it was fun but all the while i was waiting for the next shoe to drop. it never really did. a couple of the other girls came up after the first game and asked if i wanted to play double with two more girls. i told them one was enough. then they started asking those same typical wg questions. it came out that i know how to speak a bit of mandarin and that sent them giggling and rushing back to their seats. i gave them the "i know what you're up to, now behave. " it was cool. they laughed, let me be and watched us play our second game. damn, they were cute. i'd go back to play pool with them just have to stay on guard for the drink purchases.

we sat and talked. and cuddled a bit. i told her my nanjing road story and explained how know some games are played. i played along and apologized to her. i know she's "playing a role" but she was really sweet about it and didn't seem at all like my horror story from the other night. i think they're simply hostess bar girls. still working for the bar but not nearly as aggressive and actually quite pleasant to be with. we exchanged numbers and continued chatting. she asked again about another drink but i told her that i really needed to get back to my friend (who i had now abandoned at zapata's). she was ok about it. we got up and walked back to zapata's. on the way back i noticed another "hostess bar" some older dude was making out with one of the girls, saying his "goodbye". now i'm curious to go back and have a closer now educated look. my "girl" and i wandered back to zapata's and found my friend. i left her there and went home.

i have no idea if anything "fun" comes from these encounters. she was quite affectionate but we really did nothing. next time, sans friend, i'll see what happens.

it felt a bit like the hostess bars in thailand with the difference that i never got to the point where you take the girl home and have "fun".

in the end it was a pleasant little encounter that didn't leave my wallet feeling raped. even without sex, it was fun. i must say, after frequenting the sauna's here, it's a nice change to have somewhat of a gfe-like time. makes me miss thailand.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This report was edited because it was an inquiry regarding whether a specific hotel property is "Green". These types if "inquiries" are not permitted because they are almost universally posted by tree-hugging environmentalists whose only intent is to raise the "green" question on travel websites and elsewhere in the blogsphere for the sole purpose of injecting the "green" question into the public discussion.I read the forum over the last few months and was prepared for the worst, having not been to Shanghai for about a year, but knowing what it is like prior to the crack down.

I'm not one who frequented the big sauna's, so this may be where I differ with others. I didn't find it to be what everyone said. To me, it was not much different, just less overt. Take a walk, the fish bowls were not as plentiful and obvious, but you have to be pretty naive to not know that when you walk up to a shop with 10 girls sitting in chairs in short dresses, that the game is on. Especially at 10 pm at night, not too many guys are looking for a hair cut.

So, my friends, be careful, but take a stroll, look around, be peaceful and inquisitive, stop in and chat, and you will find what you seek.

Joe you been out of Shanghai too long mate. These are simple basic straightforward as they come hostess bars.

There used to be a whole street of them on Tongren Lu and now there is Datong Mall and also the few near Zapatas, a couple more near the Hilton and I'm sure other places where straight off the boat laowais can go to get fleeced and not get any sex.

I always take friends visiting China to these bars because they feel like big studs when the girls straggle all over them and get all potty asking for lady drinks for 50+RMB which are usually coke or lemonade.

The way to do it is to make sure every lady drink you buy her is straight tequila. Costs u the same and gets them
fucked the hell up which can usually result in plenty of DFK, but getting laid from these girls requires big investment, patience or serious luck.

They can be great fun if you are aware of the game and the cash required to play.

G.I found a string of these bars just below or behind the Eton. Almost identical deal, played pool with a couple of girls, bought a few drinks for the same as what you paid, the place was packed with hotties, and no other guys, and none of the other girls came over. Of the girls that were palying pool, one was hot and the other a troll, but she never seemed to get the hint to f-off.

I spent the entire time waiting to have my wallet emptied, but it never happened, nor did anything interesting. It seems to be kind of like a strip club - looky no touchy and kind of lame.

This may be sauna week, and I have a nice piece of takeout on call from a local massage place that is working out nicely, really cute little spinner with very limited English, but seems to have a few friends on call that can help translate for her over the phone.

Hey buddy, no major changes as yet, all BBS still outside a 5km radius of the city center and I think if it ever gets back to a shadow of it's former self it will take a long time.

There is always heaps of action here though, but nothing as crazy as CP, just different, but almost as cool. It's a freebie city more than P4P, and saunas are really very good here. They've gone straight thru the expo with little change- at least the good ones!

Yes if you purchase return one way ticket at Shanghai you got the best deal. There are so many discount agent at Nanjing Road and near the main train station, I don't like to buy round trip ticket because I always change plan last minute option to travel to other city before going back to Shenzhen, late flight is the cheapest arrive SZ after 11. Pm many flight discount to 450 rmb now.

I went over to Malone's tonight for dinner with a buddy, former co worker. Hadn't been there before and was not looking to take anything home due to the professional nature of the gathering (buddy is a former colleague, and his new colleagues were all around us). In any case, it didn't stop us form doing some window shopping. Around 8 or 9, the girls started to come in and make themselves recognizable. We all head over to a table in front of the bar area. What happens next is a night and early morning of free alcohol and food, dancing and a little bit of making out with my new "friend". At one point he insists that I come to a party he's hosting on Friday. I give him my number and promise I'll be there.

It's after 4AM and the bar is starting to clear out. I had told my friend repeatedly during the evening that I can't take her home. I'm not alone there. She repeatedly asks what my plan is for her. I tell her I don't know where to go. At this point she's been drinking a lot and I figure it wouldn't have been a good idea to hook up anyway. Eventually we wander outside to leave. She asks the waitress something in Tagalog and she follows us out to the taxi. We hop in a taxi and the waitress gives the driver some instructions. I figure I'm taking the girl back to her place. Actually, we were taken to a Motel168. Interesting.

The clerk at the hotel, at first, wouldn't let us check in. Not because we were suspiciously a guy with a WG but because I didn't have my passport with me. They claimed we both needed to have them, which is true if you're normally checking in. I tell my friend we can't get a room. We're stuck. But it's not over yet.

The night guard notices our situation and motions me over. Ok, I hardly speak mandarin and here I am having a heart-to-heart with the night night guard? Basically, he asks if we only need a couple of hours and then tells me he can get us in. He asks for a 100RMB tip. What the heck. I tip him and within 10 minutes we're heading for our room after checking in with my friend's passport. I know for a fact that I overpaid since the 168 chain does have short-stay rates, but I'm not sure if they all have the same service. Regardless, we had our room.

What followed was a pretty intense round of sex. This girl is a hot pot of passion. Damn. I won't bother with the details but needless to say she's damn good at what she does and really really enjoyed the "attention" I gave her.

We rested for a bit. Almost immediately, she wanted more. By this time it was past 6AM and I really needed to head back to my place before my non-english-speaking hosts started to wonder if I got hit by a taxi or something. But it is a little odd. The guy who invited me, nice enough, called me yesterday to confirm I'm going. He says he'll call me / text me with directions to his hotel. Don't have any basis to compare as this was my first time.

The foot massage was about 40 minutes and it was i a private room. There was another girl who spoke english doing the translation and then she left me with the massuse. The HE included top down, she had a nice rack and allowed roaming at will.

I don't quite remember, but of course the idea is to encourage the customer to get FS. But technically I think you can get a HE before FS, or perhaps just get HE and not FS. I have heard some people go to these places just to get HE due to some personal psychological or moral concerns. I guess this makes slightly more sense than ordering FS and then ask the lady to do nothing for the entire duration.

Anyway, usually Bodi has enough rooms for every customer to get their own private room, so privacy shouldn't be a problem. At least for all the trips I went to Bodi, may be 20+ trips, I have only been sharing a waiting room with another patron only once.

Last night I tested out my temporary freedom at "home". I'm staying at a friend's place while I'm here in Shanghai and it's a busy scene with various family members. Definitely not girl friendly. I finally met up with my mysterious "hostess girl" we played some sms-tag but managed to meet up, surprise, surprise, just outside Zapata's.

What is so bizarre about this whole thing is that no one really comes out and says what's going on. My "hostess girl" from start to the moment she saw me off in a cab at 4AM kept to her role as some random girl I met that happens to like to go to this random bar near Zapata's. I never really got around to, or had the heart, to sit her down and say "hey, it's cool. I know what this place is, I know who/what you are. It's cool. " No, I just let the role play move along it's story-line.

I also know that some of the hike in the bill was due to the bartender slipping a few extra drinks into Lucy's glass.

Now I'm thinking, oh great. Here we go. Although the bill isn't insane, I still feel pissed. Then a cool think happens. Not a satisfactory experience.So I had something similar at Riverview over the weekend. Went with a buddy to check the place out, hard to find if you don't know where it is. The long street northish of Nanjing Xi Lu is Beijing Xi Lu (北京西路）。

Go for a stroll along BJXL towards the city. There are many footsie places there.

I was there about 15 months ago and found an interesting footsie place (at least, it seems interesting from the outside). I was in Shanghai for a few hours in Shanghai last sunday and tried to get to a sauna. I used the information posted by a user here and decided to go to Feng Ding Yuan Club on 580 Nanjing Road West as Sacrosa was a bit far from where I was. I'm not new the hobby but I am new to ISG and Shanghai so Hi to all.

Thought I should post about my one night in Shanghai and share some useful info. I had been in contact with Dragon Dave who had kindly offered to fix up an incall at my hotel, but work went on until very late and the best laid plans.

So I decided to check out Riverview sauna as it was near my hotel. Went in after midnight and the place was rather quiet apart from a gaggle of giggling girls at reception, none of whom spoke English (I'm afraid I don't do the local lingo). I was saved by a top bloke who introduced himself as Tony, the manager, a young local guy who was very helpful and explained the whole sauna thing (my first time). Tony learned his English working at several big hotels.

Made use of the facilities, free drinks (no alcohol) and fruit snacks, jacuzzi, sauna etc, took a shower and a shave and was ushered through into the inner sanctum. Tony appears gain, asking friendly Qs though not intrusive and eventually we talk about what kind of girl I would like.

I'm brought tea, offered a foot massage by the Chinese equivalent of Homer Simpson's Pop and then asked to walk through to the inner inner sanctum where the music is cheesier and the lights are lower. I'd asked for a slim 20-21ish GFE. Simple tastes. There were 3 girls in the room, one clearly heading for 30 and not much cop, the second pretty and right age but a size 12 and the third bang on the mark, diminuitive little thing, innocent look, no more than 5ft tall. Game on.

Price was supposed to be 780 all in (including 80 minutes with the girl), but Tony offered me a "new customer special price" of 700. It's a nice place, felt v comfortable. T says his bosses have good guangxi and they are safe from the law. Girl-wise it was not up the standard of what some of you lucky people have experienced elsewhere, but then maybe that's what happens after midnight on a Sunday when the choice isn't too extensive.

Perhaps there's a report way back when that has something substantial to say about Judy's (on Tongren Lu) but from I could tell it seems lacking. Most of what I read were not so positive.

I have to through in my 2 cents worth and say I really like Judy's. I must temper that statement with the fact that I've practically never gone there alone. The first time I went was to meet my new "friend". I believe I described that experience in an earlier report. Ever since that first time I always arrive or meet up with a group of great Filipino girls I met here in Shanghai. Perhaps the company bends my view a bit but I really think Judy's is a cool place to hang. Granted the number of available girls does pale in comparison to Manhattan's but it is definitely less of a circus/zoo (not that I don't like the Manhattan zoo/circus/girl-fest).

I've read too many reports focusing on the "oh there's too many ladyboys here" thing. Ya, there seem to be a few regular ones that hang there, no pun intended, but they're only as intrusive as your mind lets you believe they are. With all I had read I was expecting a parade of crazy aggressive, ala Singapore, Thailand, ladyboys pulling my arm this way and that. Ok, I'm exaggerating the posts but I had no idea what to expect given the tone here. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't really notice it much at all. There are enough girls to distract my attention at Judy's. Regardless, LBs don't freak me out anyway, so I could care less.

Now Manhattans. I'm in love. I've only been there twice but I'm definitely going back.

There definitely is a huge Vietnamese population at Manhattans. I must say that the quality and attitude of these girls is far better than most of the Vietnamese girls I met in Singapore's OT. I don't know why but I felt that their attitude here was far more friendly and down-to-earth than I've experienced. And many of these girls a freakin' hot.

Cool. So we talk some more and she's all flirty and affectionate. It was great because there was no pressure to close any kind of deal. She starts talking about her 'hot girlfriend'. She's been texting her on her iPhone all the while we've been chatting. She says she's coming. And, yes, she came. And, yes, she was pretty hot but not as hot as Jenny. Her name is Nancy and has a real playful personality. I think it also helped that I was introduced through Jenny.

Then the request for drinks started. Now I really didn't feel any pressure. These girls were cool, spending time with me, and buying a few drinks was nothing much. I ended up buying 5 shots for the first round. Yes, another girlfriend arrived. And then even another, but she only wanted a coke. LOL. I don't quite remember how many rounds of shots were consumed but I do remember that the girls actually started buying ME shots. Two rounds. First Nancy bought for the three of us and then Jenny. The evening ended / morning began with another trip to a local 168 for some morning fun and a few hours of sleep. I won't go into too much detail about the fun out of respect for my "girl". Went in at approx 20. 30 last night. Changing room and shower area occupied by 5-6 other gents, so it seems the place is getting more busy these days.

As is standard procedure I was subsequently taken to a waiting room before being taken to a line-up consisting of two girls, one of which I found "acceptable" (I think I should be tougher on these lineups and ask the manager to bring more / new girls before settling for "acceptable"). At any rate, the girl started on a longish massage session before there was a knock on the door from the manager informing us that local police were about to break up our fun.

Were told we had 20 minutes before people in uniform would be on the scene. Was told to go take a shower and relax, which I guess was a way of telling me to relax, let the uniformed guys do their thing and then get back to business. Entertainment venues across the country are to be checked by police at least once a week in a bid to crack down on crimes related to prostitution, the Ministry of Public Security has announced.

Liu Shaowu, the ministry's director of security administration, said strict checks on entertainment venues should continue to prevent problems recurring. Besides the police checks, undercover operations would also be carried out regularly, Liu said.

He advised officers to treat prostitutes with respect during their operations.

"We used to call them prostitutes but they can now be called fallen women," Liu told a ministry meeting in Suzhou."This special group of people also needs respect." His remarks were quoted in The Beijing News yesterday.

Last month, the ministry issued a notice informing provincial governments of their duty to save and educate "fallen women" and protect their rights, their reputation and their privacy.

Insults, discrimination, violence and humiliation were forbidden in the crackdowns against prostitution and the women's personal information was to be protected, the notice said.

The instruction was drafted to help fallen women return to society, said Xu Hu, the ministry's deputy director of security administration.

The ministry said that the recent crackdown on prostitution had been effective, with cases of prostitution and obscene performances in entertainment venues in October dropping 18. 4 percent on a month-on-month basis, Xinhua news agency reported.

The campaign targeted organizers of prostitution and the business operators and "protective umbrellas". Sometimes local government officials. That allowed prostitution to take place, according to a document released by the ministry.

According to the document, the ministry sent 27 groups of inspectors to 651 entertainment venues in four municipalities and 20 provinces during the campaign. At 381 venues, cases of prostitution or obscene performances were discovered.

In July, the ministry sent 10 inspection groups to Shanghai and cities in Jilin, Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces, to raid 10 venues, resulting in the arrest of 370 suspects.

Over the next three months, the ministry and local police solved 54 major cases, the document said.

Nearly a third of Beijing's female escorts were forced to seek new jobs after a six-month clampdown on prostitution in the capital closed hundreds of entertainment venues.

One former escort, identified as Xiao Li, said she felt "more at ease than before" although she earned much less. She told the Beijing Morning Post she was paid almost 6, 000 yuan (US$903) a month by a KTV club before it shut.
