Hi,
I'm going to be in Shanghai for the next 3 days on business and have a yearning to go for a super mongering session for those 3 days. I don't get a chance to monger often, and here is my best and probably only chance ever this year!

There are two places nearby Zhongshan Park which provide massage+HJ.
They are located on the same block on Changning Lu cross Gubei Lu.
The first one has a blinking sign which makes it easy to find (the girls at the entrance make the obvious). The very next street north of it is Nanyang Road, which is the same road that Manhattan / Big Bamboo is on. The next road north is Beijing Road which is a pretty major street.

I had many (50+) foot massages there, but I am not a fan of HJs so I don't take the body massage very often, probably around 10 times. The HE is included in the price of the body massage. Finally checked Heting off my list. Easy to find as long as you don't trust the damn exit signs out of the metro that tell you you'll exit onto Siping Lu when you actually come out on Dalian. No one had reported on this place in detail, so I thought I'the check it out. Very easy to get to from Lian Hua Station on Line 1. Go in, up the stairs, you will be whisked into the locker room. Story is much like the other saunas. Put your stuff in a locker. There is a zip lock in the locker if you want to bring your mobile with you. Undress at the locker, then you are given a wrist band key with your number. This becomes your I'd throughout the experience. Walk naked to the showers, and clean up. You can sit in the hot tub if you want; not for me. Then go to the towel guy and dry off. He gives you a robe and shorts. From my experience, maximize your time in Shanghai not Ningbo. With such s short window it affords you the most opportunity for Sauna, massage and bar pickups.

I can't wait for this trip. Stay in SH-make reservation at Sheraton or Portman plaza in Ningbo-ask about bus service to Ningbo when making reservation. Free luxury bus service (3 hour trip) offerred by these hotels. From Nanyan hotel in SH (behind hotel is thier office). At Portman Plaza 3rd floor full service 768 rmb (both hotels at same corner) Portman less money, sheraton nicer though. I was in Ningbo and Shanghai 2 month ago not much going on there, they are both large city because of crack down not as good as 5 yr ago, you can take the bus at Shanghai south train station every 40 min 2 hr bus to ningbo cross the new hangzhou bay bridge and do some RTFF from the Ningbo forum for more info.

i think i found it tonight while walking on beijing lu. i think the address is 1215. or it's very close to there. yellow sign. it had the prices for everything in red letters on a glass window.

I can't wait for this trip. I'd definately would opt for 3 nights Shanghai and 2 nights Ningbo. As you would see in the Ningbo section, the thread is almost dead. There are a few places in hotels you can visit but all the red ropes are gone there: closed. Checked it our myself last time.

Bodi boutique is quite expensive for a Chinese hotel. For that price you could get international good ones. Maybe it's my personal thing but I don't like retro style furnishing, but that's just me.

If you had any familiarity with Shanghai it would be a simple matter to get to the so called famous places you want to go. For instance, Malones, Judy's and Manhattan are just 3 subway stops away in Jingan Temple. But a 5 min walk from the station and maybe you won't be oriented to find your way to those bars. Sarcosa is just 2 subway stations away (dongchang lu). But then a 10 min walk and the directions are a bit complicated (I saw them on here once but haven't been there myself).
Be aware that Nanjing Lu is a main shopping area and people walking area in Shanghai and that if you walk on the street, as I suspect you will, you will be approached by lots of touts and women. Probably all will scam you so I recommend ignoring them all. The touts will take you to a karaoke and you will be charged an excessive amount for nothing. The girls will take you to a tea shop to dirink tea and talk and you will be charged an excessive amount for nothing.
So, for fishbowl experience, I recommend Bodi. The address is 1245 Longyang Road. Take the line 2 subway to the Longyang station. Walk outside the station, under the maglev station to the taxi rack and take a taxi. It's a 5 min ride. Have the concierge of your hotel write "1245 Longyang Lu" in Chinese so you can't give it to the taxi driver.

999 is the farthest of the 3, despite it being on the same side of the river as your hotel. I would estimate taxi fare to be around 45RMB from your hotel to 999. You could proceed by metro line which is obviously cheaper but I don't recommend it for first-timers because changing lines can be confusing for the inexperienced.
If you want to proceed by Metro to 999, nearest station is Shanghai Stadium but you should exit from the Line 4 exits. It's a bit complicated to describe.

I think you should be ok in Shanghai this is a tourist city and many foriegner expat live here, many speak english here just hank out around toruist bar you will meet friend, you don't need any one to hold your hand but I cannot say that on other city in China.

I looked on Google maps and it seems you are right near Nanjing Lu in a very central location and near the line 2 subway. If you had any familiarity with Shanghai it would be a simple matter to get to the so called famous places you want to go. For instance, Malones, Judy's and Manhattan are just 3 subway stops away in Jingan Temple. But a 5 min walk from the station and maybe you won't be oriented to find your way to those bars. Sarcosa is just 2 subway stations away (dongchang lu). But then a 10 min walk and the directions are a bit complicated (I saw them on here once but haven't been there myself).

so we all know about manhattan and what you get there (phils and viets, mostly) , and bar rouge (overpriced, bad service, not really a pick up bar but some wg's who want way too much money). so where did all the chinese wg's go after manhattan and judy's lost them, and after most of the trl bars rep001tered (and after julu lu closed)? i know there are still some talking bars, but mostly those are just good for spending tons of money on drinks and then going home alone or heading to one of the aforementioned places.

Manhattan is a bar that attracts a lot of WG, especially after 11 pm. Most are Phillies or Viets, but there are others there. All are there for takeout. A girl will smile at you. Manhattan is located on a small street right behind the Portman Ritz Carlton Hotel on West Nanjing Road. I forget the street name but you can't miss it. This is also a WG bar with a live band from the Philippines. They play classic rock & roll and is a good place to check out as well. The WGs here tend to be older than Manhattan, but many are Chinese and they are less aggressive than those at Manhattan.
Continue past Malone's and make your first right turn. This is a small dark street, but safe. You will see a hostess bar on your left. Avoid this. You will pay a lot for drinks and get little in return. After about 100 meters, you will see Manhattan on your left. It's easy to miss as it has a small entrance and you must go up a few steps. Just past Manhattan is Big Bamboo (BB). If you see BB, you have gone too far.
However, you may want to stop into BB as it's also a fun place. The waitresses are friendly and mayl give out their phone numbers. There are sometimes WG there although not as many as Malone's or Manhattan.
One final note. If you take Tongren lu south from Malone's and cross over Nanjing Lu, you will see Judy's on your left. There are WG here as well, but I usually find this to be the least interesting of all the bars mentioned.

I went to Chengjiaqiao again today (see one my previous posts for directions). This time I bargained. I couldn't get down to 150, but close. I think it's like buying a car in the states. You have the be ready to walk out I guess. With the way this area is set up it's pretty easy to do because you can walk out of one and into another within 60 seconds.
Oh yea there's more to this area if you explore around a bit. There's another cluster of them down the street. Closest intersection is Huaguang Road and Hongzhong Road. Not as big or as tightly packed as the main cluster, but worth looking into if you get bored and like hunting.

Honestly, that did not appeal to me despite there were a lot of girls inside and quite a few were very good looking. The later you pick the girl the lower you can negotiate. Usualy they start with 2000 or 3000. If they don't go down with the price choose another one. There is enough to choose from.

I am a long time visitor to Shanghai but surprisingly first time mongering. Had LT who use to travel there with me and dropped her last year as it became too much hassle. Manhattans - I would say you were over paying even last August. Even now should be 500-800 ST and 700-1200 LT. Of course this is after 2:00AM, if you try to take someone at 11:00PM there will be very few girls to pick from and they will want a higher price.

In general I'm always uncomfortable in the place because it's always jam packed with other guys. Feels weird to pick out your evening meal in front of everyone.
Two great things about the place though.
- No matter what, it's open, really late. I'm sure it closes eventually, but I don't know when that is.
- You know what you're getting. Saunas are cool, but you don't know what the fishbowl will be until you're committed to choosing. BBS is interesting in that you can have a peak before you really enter, but you don't know the girl's attitude until you're committed there either.
In Manhattan, you can see what you're getting and you can enjoy some chitchat, maybe a drink, and you can let your hands wander and kind of play around. Free of charge. I've wanted to try this place for a while, but the first couple of times I went I couldn't find it despite having the address.
The reason is that google maps has the location wrong. Most websites that have a "map it" feature just plug into one of the mapping api's and they all seem to get this address slightly different, and mostly wrong. Ctrip has the right location.
It's a weird place to finally have found.
The location is 1245 LongYang, but that mostly won't help you unless you know it's the cross streets of LongYang and YangGao. And. LongYang is a freeway / highway. The front of the hotel actually opens to the freeway. I thought that was weird. To get to it, you're basically walking along the freeway.
Once you get there it's just the little door to the left of the main entrance like the other posts say.
The experience was a lot different from Sacrosa. I'm not sure if I like it. Will have to try again. The girls are definitely more plentiful, with much better looking girls, too. But the whole song and dance they do was kind of boring. They bathe you. Then they catbath your entire body. I guess some people like that, but I've never once been tempted to ask my girlfriend to bathe me or to lick my back. To each their own I guess.

the first thing you should know is the address. it's 777 siping lu or &22235; &24179; &36335; 777&21495; in chinese characters. my taxi driver had no trouble finding it. the place is on the corner of a building. there is a restaurant there as well, but go to the open, rounded corner entranceway. you'll see a guy waiting in those chinese silk pajamas by the elevator. the whole entrance is black.
when you get upstairs, nobody seems to speak english. but they'll give you an electronic wrist-band and take you to a changing / waiting room. the lockers contain a safe, a little bag with neck cord for your mobile, a plastic bag for your stuff when you're in the shower, a robe and plastic sandals.
i wasn't really sure what to do, so i did what was obvious and stripped down to nothing and put on the robe. you won't need any money until the end, so don't bother carrying any. for the generous types out there, the girls don't take tips.
after putting on the robe, go take a shower. there are two doors to your changing room. the number of the room is written on your wrist-band and on the doors (my room was 21, my locker 1, so my wristband said 21-1). go through the door you did not come in through and you'll see a red hallway, with red carpets. follow the sound of water to the showers. it's a maze in there, so pay attention to where you're going.
when you get to the shower room, there are attendants who will take your robe and stuff and lock it up, giving you the key. you can take a shower, a sauna, or a soak in a big tub (which i avoided). after the shower go back to the boys. you'll see a towel guy who will hand you a tiny towel. you should take off your sandals and stand on the towels on the ground facing away from him. he'll dry your back, but you need to take care of the front.
hand the guy your key, put on your robe and collect your stuff. time to return to your waiting / changing room. if you forgot the way, just show somebody your wrist band and jabber in english. they'll figure it out.
once you've returned to your room, you can order some food, watch tv, smoke or order a massage. the menu's explain the prices. i spent 698 rmb for the 90 minutes special and some food. it was 100 rmb to little when looking at the menu, i should have paid 798. i have no idea why this happened.
there are little service buttons on the walls. if you press one, an attendant will come in and you can point at the menu to get your message across. if you ask for a massage, you'll have to wait again. eventually somebody will come and take you to the line-up. they call you by number, so if they come in and call a number and nobody else stands up, just get up and go. that will be your cue.

You can get to Bodi without talking to anyone. I goofed and walked part-way there, then walked back to the station before I realized I didn't walk far enough. It takes about 10 minutes to walk there from the station, but it is not difficult, nor did I find it risky.
Bodi is rather simple to find, just stick to the directions. The subway is very easy to use and faster than a taxi. The subway ticket machines have an English mode in the upper right corner. From there, it's just a matter of entering a few coins or a small bill for a single ride ticket.
Line 6 to Shanghai Childrens Medical Center.
Exit 2 and turn left. You'll be heading south on Dongfang road.
At the intersection (below the elevated road) , turn left and follow the sidewalk (you're now on Longyang Road)
You'll walk a long way on this sideway.
When the sidewalk curves back north, you'll have to keep going along Longyang by walking under the underpass.
Keep hugging Lognyang Road and Bodi will be a short walk. Address 1245 Longyang.

The best places to go in Shanghai for "freelancers" are the 3 bars near Tongren Lu. They are Manhattan, Malones and Judy's, in that order. In Manhattan you will see a lot of Viets and Phillys. In Malones, mainly Chinese and some older Chinese. Judy's is a mix. You can also stop in at Big Bamboo which is almost right next door to Manhattan and see who is there. All 3 bars are within short walking distance of each other (< 5 minutes).
Another spot is Xintandi. I have no personal experience there but if you read the forum, you will find out from others how to find a freelancer there.
I have not had good luck with the outcall services. Most post phony pictures and you never know what you are getting. If you go the bar route, you will at least meet and chat with the lady for awhile before bringing her back to your hotel.

Sacrosa is a 10 minute walk away. As I was staying at the hotel anyways, I decided to give the spa a try. Incidentally, the spa is on the 5th floor and there's a fairly large KTV on the 4th floor just below. In any case, the 950 RMB charge gets you 90 minutes and in my case was a 1/2 hour massage followed by 1 hour of FS that began with a CBJ followed by multiple positions ending in one shot. I went to this MP on wuzhong lu the other week for the second time and got the same girl. I will probably be repeating what many have said in the past but I figure this is current and it may be of interest to other newbies.

Little hotel with very nice spa off to the left of the hotel entrance. Very nice. I had a be etter experience here then the 999 to be honest. Much better. I was a bit put off by all of the men helping me and in particular by the dude who gave me a nude scrub down but once I got to the fishbowl there was lots of choice. My girl did it all so I won't repeat. Very sweet young gal and again no? English whatsoever. Cost was about 850 rmd. Went around noon. This is located on Longyang Road up the street about ten blocks (going away from the Expo Center.) If you are a walker you can get to the Maglev / Metro on line 2 I believe and walk the ten blocks.

I'd do it again. There is a Metro Line 7 station even closer.
Turn left when you exit Bodi, walk over the sky bridge to cross the expressway walk toward the large Villa / Hotel.

The CL ads are real, but the girl who shows up will almost certainly be a different girl from the photo, probably ugly or at least disappointing in some way, and she'll overcharge you. She knows you don't know what you're doing since you used CL. I've heard of people getting stuff stolen, too. If you're ok with that, then contact them.
I got to say though, I really think you'll be ok if you visit the Manhattan bar. It's not really a "bar" in the sense of how a bar is in the USA or wherever you're from. It's more like a big room stuffed with girls who are going to walk right up to you. You don't have to worry about being shy because the girls want you to take them home and they will drive the conversation there no matter what you say to them.
