I went to Bar Rouge tonight for New Years Eve. Waste of time. They let so many people in it was wall to wall people inside bar and balcony.I love Bar Rouge, and it has been crowded every time I have been there. One of the girls I know in Shanghai and I have an agreement that who ever gets their next promotion first has to reserve the roped off area between the two bars for the night. Just a quick update for the Spring Massage. Obviously there are different options available depending on the shop. I have visitied the outlet close to Linping Road few times. However, wile LE may certainly monitor this forum, I believe it is much easier and more likely that they will pay attention to a WeChat group like that. Everything in WeChat is logged and filed for later perusal if necessary.
We would need heavily coded language, and as a consumer of w33 d here myself, I am still learning that language. Ugh.
Plus WeChat is not moderated in the way this forum is. Could become a real mess, like the recent war on the Pattaya board the past several days.

First time back to Shanghai in a very long while. I had two "goto" places in the past and knew that one was shut down and wasn't sure about the second place (Heting). I got several recommendations from regulars here as backup but wanted to check on Heting anyway since I always had a good time there. I'm very happy to report that they are still operating!
For those who don't know this place, it's at 777 Siping Road. If you take the metro, get off at Siping Road station, exit 4, turn right to Siping Road, and then go south about 2 blocks. It's the dark curved glass building with a bunch of cars parked out front. There is often a guard standing around. The place looks abandoned, just walk right up to the curved glass and it will slide open into a dark lobby, go to the elevator and proceed to the third floor. Exit the elevator and let them know "1 person" (or however many in your group, kind of like a restaurant! They may have you wait to form a small group before giving out locker bracelets and entering the changing room. Do NOT hand your bracelet to anyone, this is to secure your possessions and charge your account.
Show your bracelet to the changing room attendant and he'll guide you to your locker, then place your bracelet against the matching indentation to do the first unlock and he'll match his to open the locker. Do NOT shut the locker until you are done or else it will be locked again. Take out the slippers on the bottom, take off all your clothes, and put on the robe. DO take your bracelet with you and likely your cell phone too so you have something to do if there is a wait (likely). Now you proceed to the second exit and they will guide you a short way to the shower room.
There you go to the center and place your cell phone in a locked drawer and they will hand you the key. Take off your robe and hand it to the guy next to those drawers and he'll hang it up. Yes, you will be naked at this point, it's normal in Asia. Go to a shower and clean everywhere (I really mean everywhere, you'll understand why later). When done, return to the robe guy and he'll toss you a tiny hand towel to dry off. There's an area with towels on the ground where you can step on to dry your feet but you should take off your slippers beforehand. You can also grab another hand towel there if one is not enough. This is actually better than before as they use to have other guys dry you off and, IMO, that was awkward! Now go get back "your" robe (it's not, it's whichever one is closest to the worker. Yuck) and retrieve your cell phone. Now exit the shower the way you came in and find a worker, show him your bracelet and he'll tell you which room to sit in to wait your turn.
The waiting rooms are of varying size and you will likely be group with people you don't know but if there are others in your group they will typically be grouped with you. Just grab an open seat and relax. Cell reception is poor and there is no wifi, no need to ask. People also smoke non-stop, don't bother asking them not to. You can also order basic food (soup or dry noodles, dumplings, fried rice and beer / soft drinks) but nothing fancy. Eventually they will call for your number from the bracelet but it will be in Chinese. So if you don't understand Chinese, you'll need to make them aware of that ahead of time so they will physically come and fetch you out of your seat. This is when you return to the lockers to place your phone inside, NO phones allowed inside with the girls. Then follow your guide to the fishbowl.
The fishbowl here is a little awkward, there are about 20 girls give or take surrounding you and you are literally in the middle with no partition between you. If you enter with a group of guys, make sure to be in the front as the corridor bottlenecks and you want first dibs! When you see the girl you like, either call out her number in Chinese or simply walk up to her and extend your hand. She will then walk you to the next room where you provide your bracelet to the receptionist to record who you are taking and the time. She will then guide you through a maze and end up at your room.

As to the responses. It not really a computer generating the message to you. However, it is typically an "agent" at a computer or bank of phones. I had a Chinese girl friend for a while in Abu Dhabi that along with her sister (in this case actually sister) ran the service. When ever she came over out came half a dozen or more phones. So what happens is the agent has the "girl's" account open on their computer or a phone and when they assign the booking the agent signs out and the girl signs in before arrival. If you are known to the touts as being a good customer then you can generally make sure that the girl will meet the expectations. The best way to do that is if you have not had the girl visit before show her the messages and make sure she understands the "contract" before you get in bed. If there is resistance tell her to contact her agent. Most touts will then instruct the girl to perform the requested services. If not send her off and just pay the "taxi" fee.

I'm not going to bore you with a day-by-day account, so here are my experiences by topic.
Judy's / Manhattan. Went to both places at least 3 nights. My take away was that Manhattan has some better looking ladies however Judy's is more laid back. Forget about price because it will be 1,000ST and 1,500 LT on average at either place. Me personally I prefer the atmosphere at Judy's. There is a contingent of ladies at Manhattan who dominate the bar area and talk shit if you don't take someone home with you. And they are obnoxious about it. Drunkenly obnoxious so it isn't a pleasant experience. The owner has to get rid of these bitches. Ladies at Judy's tend to be older but honestly there are some young hotties at Judy's too. I took 2 out of Judy's and it was 1,000st. The other night I went too late (or early - 4 am).
HOTEL. Hilton on Huashan. - The Hilton is a total shit-hole for a western traveler who has a certain level of expectation. My room had a carpet that was so old and worn I was leary of taking my socks off. Also in general the room was just really tired.
Hostess Bars. PLENTIFUL across from the Hilton. I only went to 1 at 4 am after no ladies could be found at Judy's or Manhattan. I went to Tiger Cats. This was a small, dark, run down bar. A dive bar but I liked it. The ladies weren't impressive looking but fun conversation. They offered a special massage for 100 rmb and an extra special deal for 500 rmb. I never took them up on the offer but I feel like anything may be available.
Regular bars and restaurants. Shanghai Brewery is a good place for a nice IPA and pizza. I went to Zapatas on Tuesday and the food sucks. Worst burger ever. The margaritas are also shit. I'm not some food connoisseur, I'm just saying don't go to Zapatas and expect a good margarita or a good burger. I also visited the bar at the Steakhouse. Shangri La. GREAT. Go see Phillip. He is a great drink engineer. Also. The SPOT down the street from Judy's. Meh. The staff is attentive and there are plenty of westerners but just not impressed. Blah. I also get the impression from The Spot that while westerners are there, they just don't like us. That's OK as there are plenty of other options. AVOID.
Shanghai Nightlife Guide. I was very disappointed by the overall selection and will probably switch to Rain in Shanghai. The girls seem hotter there. It seems that although SNG has many girls, HALF are never available like Susan, Nancy, Bella. It seems the SNG owner wants to list them but the listings are irrelevant as they are NEVER available. I did have a meeting with Tessa and it was a COMPLETE FAILURE. She arrived for the 1 HR appt which was cut short by 30 minutes. Of the 30 minutes I spent, she spent 15 minutes in the bathroom, 10 with me and 5 changing / unchanging. WHAT A RIP-OFF!

Just because SNG has most of its top listed Saunas as closed doesn't mean that it reflects the state of Shanghai.
Aside from Jingan, most districts are alive and well. Especialy Minhang which is historicaly the most active sauna district and had issues begining of the year but came back with even more spots since then.

Thought I would go back to this place, but sadly, it is gutted.
Visited 1066 Caobao Road recently. It is a sauna near Hongmei Road. Easy to find, from the big 1066 on the outside. Soon, there will be a metro stop in front. The doorman lets you in. At night, be careful, as the hallway is dark. The nice thing about this place is the sense of privacy. They escort you directly from the front door to your room. Contrary to latest report Sarcosa is still open. Seems the doors of the building on the opposite side to Mr pancake are now permanently locked so you need to go in on the Mr Pancake side. Prices have gone up in that a double flight is now RMB500 for the second girl not RMB400 as it was in the past. First girl is still RMB600 in the afternoon. ATH.If you want to get around in the scene, WeChat is a must. Otherwise no chance. I'm not Chinese speaking but can handle perfectly by using WeChat and it's integrated translation tool. You write in English, he writes in Chinese. Within WeChat you press on the Chinese text and it gets translated automatically. Very easy to handle. I do it the same way as suggested by others and go on the websites below, scan the WeChat Code and contact the manager. Really simple. I then ask for pictures and prices. They normally send you a list with the different price levels as well a link with pictures. I then specifically ask for the address and Google Maps. They will send you a link which you can use with Goggle Maps on the iPhone. I then make an appointment with the manager and go to the place (Taxi or Metro). You simply show Google Maps to the Taxi Driver and that's it. I normally make a "print screen" = picture of the Chinese address from Google Maps to zoom it for the Taxi driver. Otherwise difficult to read. . And don't forget your Hotel address in Chinese as you have to find your way back. Some of the locations are in remote places and Taxi drivers do not understand a single word of English.
Once I'm there, I make a picture of the area, send it to the manager and he will pick me up. This has always worked out perfectly. In case you want an English speaking contact, I know a manager in the Minhang district who is HongKong Chinese and speaks English. It's a while that I visited him and do not know the current status. The sauna is in the lower end price range and starts at 700 RMB for daily specials.

First off, a short introduction about myself: French born Chinese (can speak decent Chinese which helps especially for local saunas) early 30's, decent shape.
I have lived in Shanghai few years ago and have been travelling back and forth many times during the last years so I am very familiar with the city.
This time I stayed in SH for two weeks with friends for the only purpose of vacations, having fun and mongering.
Anyway, it always feels go to be back in Shanghai. One of my favorite cities in the world.
For the record, the saunas I went to are all listed on a Chinese forum. Before my arrival, I have added them on Wechat (must have application in China). Once you add them, the manager sends you pictures, address and prices so it is very convenient but have to speak decent Chinese.
I also feel like it is important to buy a Chinese SIM card as internet is your best friend for mongering.

Which one are you talking about?..Of course I have no idea where Vince went but in general all branches of Spring massage seem to offer similar service. Though details about the quality and prices especially for the extras may differ. My Wechat was registered outside China / Hong Kong. Now the transfer funds function is not available. Wechat says they may return the function (when you know how allows it again) I can only top off off my cell phone account. This is all about control. Today ok. Tomorrow, not sure. I have an alternate cell number. Will try to register a new account in China. All this after much hassle linking my Bank of China arm to top up Wechat wallet. Any ideas or work arounds?

Wechat says they may return the function (when you know how allows it again) I can only top off off my cell phone account. This is all about control. Today ok. Tomorrow, not sure. I have an alternate cell number. Will try to register a new account in China. All this after much hassle linking my Bank of China arm to top up Wechat wallet. Any ideas or work arounds?

Go to Wechat "help and feedback" Read what wechat says about this. It says "red packet and transfer have been removed starting with with version 6. 5. 4. There is language about tapping a + sign, but this does not help me. Some have suggested logging out, then logging in using chinese. Any help will be appreciated. I can top off my cell account or transfer to a "vendor" if they are next to me and I scam their code. That does not work if you are away from them.

Judy's- used to be my favorite spot before they moved it. Now it's close to manhattans which makes the walk shorter. I do like the new building with more room a nice stage and VIP area. The table area has more room. Overall the quality of girls at Judy's had always been a little notch below manhattans with the girls being a little older. There were always beautiful gems to be had there and some of my best memories came from pickups at Judy's. The girls felt more real and less money focused (compare to manhattans). There is now a definite notch difference between the two. The crowd is more sedate and it's not "the bar to hang out in" like I used to feel. I don't know if the crowd is smaller or the room bigger but it feels different. I would still suggest going there but maybe visit both before you make final selection for the night. Judy's used to be the kind of bar I could go to and have fun. If I didn't take someone home, it was still fun. It's a little less that way now. A little more slow.
I was told you can get a girl at judys for all night for 800 if you negotiate hard. I never did. I did talk to a guy that found short timers there for 650-800. He did this 3 times. I saw the last one he paid 800 for. She wasn't bad. She was a 6+ maybe a 7. So maybe I overpaid.

Also they Chinese guys play their dice games there and buy out a table with commitments to buy a lot of drinks and the bar obviously likes that more than a guy nursing his beer all night. The Chinese also act like they are in a KTV a little. If a girl hangs with them and does some feeling up (either way) they guys will throw them 50 or 100 rmb for being there.
Needless to say, the girls swarm those tables. It doesn't mean the girls don't notice the foreigners but it is different than the old days when the foreigners were seen as the money guys.
Don't take this wrong, I am saying it's different. As China gets better jobs, this was bound to happen. There is still a place for foreigners and I was still able to have stunners give me a 1200 rmb short time price. This was without negotiation. I probably could have done better. The 7's and 8's were usually good for 1000 at manhattan's but I didn't try for overnight so maybe you could do better than that. My short time usually included 2 pops and 2-2.5 hours of play. Here are my two cents for my recent trip to Shanghai, for the ones that read my last report I tend to monger on the seedier and cheaper side.
Which is just a thing I prefer to do, I know not everyones cup of tea but here goes.

I had not been to Si Yuan Sauna in what used to be the Merrylin Hotel on the corner of Zhangyang lu and Laoshen lu for a while and decided to go have a look this afternoon. The name of the hotel has changed (can remember the new name) and the whole place has been remodeled, still easy to zip into the lifts without having to walk through the hotel lobby and head for the 3rd floor. The papasan quickly pulled me over to explain that prices had gone up to 1080 rmb for a session from the cheapest girls.
Normal procedure, IE into the change room and change into too small pajamas, waited 5 min and off to see the line up with an older Chinese guy.
