Nearly all Shanghai escort services, including SNL, permit some degree of bait and switch on girl, age or service. All valid Shanghai problems. However, there's another side to the story. I have found massage parlors and saunas scrupulously honest, and have also found Manhattan and Judy's prices / performance reasonable. So really depends which waters you fish in.

Following my eventful visit to the local weather bureau last year (see my postings), I have been more careful when venturing outside. With this in mind, some innocent dancing in one of Shanghai's dancing halls (wuting) appealed to me. So after reading some good reports from Arizona123 and ShanghaiNong I finally made the trip to Minhang. Wished I went earlier cause the place turned out to be closed for over half a year according to a local guy who stood on the adjacent parking lot. When I asked about the dance hall (making dancing movement for effect....) he looked somewhat suspicious, but hey.... Decided to briefly check it out myself and walked up the stairs of the dilapidated building and indeed fully closed. My eye caught some fancy posters at the entrance showing people dancing but also a large police poster with a blue uniformed officer and lots of Chinese text which I can not read. But it also contained the following English: "Prostitution strictly forbidden", now I do not know the difference between forbidden and strictly forbidden but it seems LE knew what took place.

Since I still would be interested to experience these dance halls I would like to ask if anyone knows of similar venues in Shanghai or have they all fallen victim to the recent crackdown.

You have to look at Hongkou and Yangpu districts.The Minghan situation has been reported in general but I was under the impression that the veggie dancehalls would not be affected, guess I was wrong. My flight was delayed by 4 hours and I was annoyed, so I decided to get a massage at the spa at the airport to relax. We hear a lot about the situation in Minghan etc, but what about Pudong? Earlier this week I decided to take a very long walk along various places, here is my update:

I started my walk from Kerry center at Huamu / Fangtian Lu, then walked through Meihua Lu where half of the SPAs were closed. Then onwards to nearby Yinghua Lu, where all the previously well stocked BBS (6-7 shops) were completely shut down. Some time ago they first covered their windows with non-transparent glass but you could still look through a small opening though. Now all shops are locked, curtains down and the neighboring shops have invaded the front door spaces (selling stuff there etc, so you can not enter anymore). All doors are covered with these official black / white banners which I can not read. Apart from the obvious BBS they have even closed the only legit looking SPA, seems they offered some extras too. Next I walked over to Dujuan Lu: the three BBS were alll closed, same as on Yinghua. Now I remember during previous shut downs they only shut down either Yinghua or Dujuan but never both together. Sad to see Yinghua / Dujuan closed, it used to be such a lively BBS street, even if only for ogling at the many (often slutty) girls. Will they ever return?

Proceeded to Lancun road (opposite Double Tree Hotel). Here some SPAs were open and I saw a few hotties but I walked on to continue my 'social research'. I also suspect these girls would ask for high tips given the nearby 5 star hotel with many foreign visitors. My overall impression was that Lancun was not as busy as before but at least open. I did not check out the girlie bars though.

Next I walked through Tangqiao Lu were there was some massage place with many girls inside next to some wet market stalls. Crossing Pudong South Road turning into the small Ningyang Road where a small BBS was open but did not look very attractive. I proceeded to Eshan Lu where the (well stocked) BBS shops behind the trees had completely disappeared. There were a few small SPAs in the street further towards Dongfang Lu but that was it. Again a street under lock down or gentrified. From there onwards to Laoshan Lu, a street normally full of luxurious looking SPAs (6-7 shops) with many technicians. Here at least most places were open but not so many providers in each shop, but at least open. Then finally walking along Weifang Lu where most places were closed too.

SO, after having walked for 3,5 hours doing my social research, covering quite some action areas, I can conclude that this part of Pudong is facing some severe and prolonged crackdown too. Before there were occacional lock downs during VIP events in the city ect, but there is none now as far as I know. So there must be another reason.

Conclusion : If you want to have multiple options, go to Laoshan and Lancun Lu.

The next few days I need to rest my feet, they hurt !

However, I think this is probably more a function of the macro economic environment as a 'rising tide lifts all boats' across wealth in Asia. Money is also very relative- so if someone is wealthy enough that they regularly spend 10 k RMB on bottles of liquor at a club, why would they then care about 1-2 k price difference at Manhattan? The girls should (and now can) try to make as much money as possible in their short careers. But an equilibrium should be established and people who are priced out will move towards cheaper cities / countries. Hello all, just back from a month in Shanghai and Monterey all over. Will go through each of the places I went.

I will say first tho that I got suckered in the area around Fuzhou road into following a woman on the street into an upstairs place. Offered Sex with a reasonable lineup for 500 rmb total but after the deed was done a guy came in to heavy on me for cash. Was asking 18000 rmb (and eventually argued him down to 5000 rmb. Yes it is a stupid amount and I got extorted, but This being China I felt my life was worth more than the money I'd be able to make back. Whilst I thought about just running off, again I felt that if he was happy to accept such an amount he'd be less likely to have people come after me.

Feel free to tell me how stupid I am. Trust me, I'm well aware. An expensive lesson. The other experiences I can say were far mor positive.

Saunas.

#1 Red House Club Sauna - 333 Zhaojiabang Rd, metro. Jiashan Rd, exit 5. In the building with China Merchant Bank on B1. There is a contact with a "Jimmy" who says he can speak English but mostly communicates via Wechat translate. Either way you are able to get an 100 rmb discount if you go through him.

Essentially enter, change into those strange pyjama things. I believe there is possibility for you to lounge in couches in separate rooms up but I was taken to a side room and waited a while before taken to the line up.

This was Friday night so quite extensive, maybe 20-30 girls.

Cheapest girls started at 1098/998 RMB and go up by 500 to 2998 RMB. The higher prices above 2000 include some white girls.

Below 2 k the service is generally nuru massage, BBBJ / sex and multiple pops in 80 minutes. Above 2 k is shorter at around 70 minutes, no nuru, 2 pop limit.

When I went, only 1398 RMB girls and above available. Service reasaonable but I believe there to be better as described below.

#2 ?Ba Li Ya sauna (name is mentioned a few pages back).

Location is same metro as Red House, but when you come out of exit 5, continue down the street. You will see a small side alley. Go down it and around to the right. You will walk through a small undercover area and through a car park with the entrance on the Right. If you see guys with ear pieces you're going int the right direction.

I went here twice. Both times was Friday afternoon and price was 980 RMB. Pay at the end.

Go in, change into your pyjama things (your belongings to a locker). You will then have to shower (different to Red House where the girl will shower you so no shower first). After cleaning up, you will be shown to one of the rooms with lounges with usually some other guys. This place allows you to bring your phone (as did Red House) but some of the others below don't.

In the lounge you can get some drinks etc.

After a while they will come and collect you.

Wil be shown a line up, smaller, maybe 15 girls or so. Take your pick, price doesn't seem to vary. Appears that the age of the girl will be listed on her tag.

She will take you to a room. Someone else has mentioned you get to pick her outfit, first time the girl just picked a sailor type get up, second time no outfit.

First time, started with some sexy dancing then BBBJ for an extended period of time in multiple positions. Also included was cat bath, sucking of fingers and anal rimming. Eventually she pulled me into 69 with CIM while my tongue was on her snatch.

I found this place as I was looking for Dongguan Sauna on SNG and this was mentioned instead. Had some difficulty in the beginning as my Mandarin is poor until the contact named 'Jack' appeared and he understood. At the time they were having 'special price' of 900 RMB for all girls.

Looking at SNG, looks like the levels in prices now are similar to Red House.

Process is similar, changing etc without shower then on to picking girl. Picked a girl with quite sizeable tits but body wasn't that firm. Also no phones in the room.

Service similar to Red House, with nuru / body slide and BBBJ / FS. Went for 2 pops.

Overall reasonable, but if the prices are now similar to Red House I think it'd be better to go there if that's what you're after. Lineup wasn't that great comparatively.

#4 Siping Rd Rd. Also mentioned previously. Not sure of the exact address, but metro is Siping Rd. You can come out exit 4 then turn are back into Siping Rd in the direction towards the city. Walk for a while and you'll see a building with black glass at the front. The doors will open and you'll find yourself at the front desk.

This place is similar to #2 above in terms of the process. Change to PJs, shower self, etc then get shown to your lounge room. Now I visited on a Monday evening and had to wait about an hour! The difference also is that they will come in and call your number when ready, which you have to have keen ears for or make sure they collect you if you don't understand Chinese. Your phones are returned to your locker when you go to pick.

Line up here is ok, perhaps not as good as #2 above and a bit older. At the time only about 10 girls.

Picked a pretty girl who's body was ok only.

However service was top notch, similarly time is about 60-70 minutes. Two pops with both being sex. Unsure if you can get CIM. However in between pops, cat bath, finger sucking, anal rimming, and even big toes (covered with condom) in vagina. New experience.

First one- 585 Jiang Ning Rd, closest metro may be Changping Rd but not 100% sure.

Allocated a girl who was decent enough. Shower yourself then get the rub down naked. Flipped over the the requests come, I think I got her down to 200 or 250 (probably can push lower) for her to pull her tits out and to pull her panties down to finger her. HJ is what you get.

#6 Address is 148 Maoming North Rd. Closest Metro is West Nanjing Rd.

The location is a bit weird, just after the intersection with WeiHai Rd on the left (if coming from West Nanjing Rd). You'll see stairs up to some salon of some sort. Don't go there. Go underneath the stairs and there is a passageway to the other side; midway through there is a lift; it's opposite some guard rooms. Go up to level. 2? Or 3?

Massage here is 268.

Similar set up to above but facilities maybe a little nicer.

If you have other reason to be in Shanghai, be it business or tourism then I think the options available are quite vast.

As you can see I tended towards the most expensive options. I do know that the numerous BBS places are also dotted around town providing even more value for money.

- 851 shaanxi bei lu: very easy to find. The place is not very clean but still OK. I asked for and 18. She was available. The girl is OK, blond hair (yes), 6/10 body, funny girl. Not really a massage as the girl goes quite quickly to the point. Very nice session indeed. Damage: 280 RMB for 45 mn! I went back the day after. Could have been much further if I had enough money with me. Next time.

Was in Shanghai in March this year, been meaning to post something for a while but being a lazy git I never got around to it.

I was there on business after a fair in Guangzhou. So had a couple of nights out.

Went to Bar Rouge near the Bund and it was dead. It was a weekday however I was expecting it to be busy but is was really quiet. I though this was one of the main hot spots in town. No working girls at all. I met a few guys from Europe so ended up having a few drinks. We all decided to go to Mint as I have never been there, we walked around looking for it and finally found it, only to be told that there is a private party tonight. Grrrrr. What a crappy night I thought.

Go the subway station: Jiangning Rd. It is one minutes' walk from there. It says spa in the windows. Enter the building from the street – 5 meters inside there is a lift. Go to last floor (4th) and there you are.

If I type #76 Changshou Lu into Google Maps, I get #76 Changshu Lu.

When I typed Jiangning Road Station into Google maps, I found the station, but there was no Changshou Lu anywhere near it. It was a bit frustrating.

Nevertheless, I will find help with the concierge of my hotel.

My real question is what services were provided at this Sauna? Same question for Shaan Xi Bei Lu? Were they FS? Was BBBJ on the menu, etc. ?

Pretty sad, as the service was great (except for the rub down, which cost extra and had me temporarily worried that I had ended up in a gay bathhouse by mistake. The guy who gave me the rub down never asked me if I wanted it, and I really thought he was going to offer me a happy ending. The really ending proved to be a very beautiful woman, and very happy). But, there is obviously still a pretty good mongering scene in Shanghai.

Mandarin is useful, but not entirely necessary. Red House has contact details for an "English speaking manager" though he uses google translate. They will give you a written list of prices.

I also saw Lao Wais at Ba Li Ya.

If you make it known you can't speak a Chinese they will do there best to accomodate. My mandarin is very limited and I did ok.

I have a question for the folks who have been in China for a while: after perusing Chinese forums (E. G. 'Love Shanghai' you'll quickly learn that FS can be had for about 390 RMB all inclusive at certain Massage Shops, particularly in the Hong Kou and Yangpu districts. Furthermore, the girls are young and can be as good looking as sauna girls (well, maybe not the top tier ones). My question is this: why wouldn't these girls instead work for saunas? The workload seems about the same, for what I imagine is more pay, and a safer working environment in the Sauna.

My thought is the saunas are selective in who they hire, and they can't get a gig there. But the massage girls are young enough and pretty enough, and they have the skills, which makes me think they are not passing health tests. Does that sound right?

I just got back to the states after a quick few days in Shanghai. A quick report, nothing too exhaustive.

First, let me say that American Airlines can go fuck itself. Thanks to this douche bag airline, I had a 10 hour flight delay heading to Shanghai. That cost me an entire evening in the city- an extra evening I wish I had at the end of my four nights.

That said, Shanghai was amazing. Beautiful city, great food, nice stuff to see. Sweltering hot in July. It was 100-106 F every day I was there, in evenings it never dropped below 80 F.

Some general observations:

- if you don't have WeChat, download it and try to use it, you'll need it in Shanghai. It gives you everything. Messaging, map integration, translation, all in one place.

- Download a VPN client to your phone and / or computer before heading over if you can. I used ExpressVPN. I think you get 30 days for free. This will make it so you can access this board as well as things like Google services while in China. Everyone there, not just tourists, use a VPN to access blocked internet services.

- Don't bother taking the subways.

- Use Didi (China's Uber) or taxis to get around. Both are very cheap. A 15 minute taxi ride runs about 30-40 why ($6-8 USD) and in Shanghai there is no need to tip, really. A couple of Yuan at the most.

- try to confirm the address with any spa manager before heading out in the taxi.

So I land at midnight and get to my hotel at 2 am Sunday morning. I'm completely knackered from a 30 hour trip duration. Sleep a few hours then wake up, guzzle some coffee, and try to shake the cobwebs.

Sunday afternoon:

- I hit the craft beer festival at Kerry Centre. Had a great time there, met a few lasses there who I probably could have pursued a bit if I really tried, but I was still a little jet lagged.

Sunday Night:

First contact is Wenli, info provided by another hobbiest. Contact via WeChat: "wenli64 u".

- Wenli arrives around 2 pm. We arrange or 1,200 why for 2-3 hours, multi-pop. Had a good time, decent performance, cute gal, BBBJ and many positions. I do not think I will repeat, but this was a good place to start with my Shanghai festivities.

WeChat is nice because it has a built-in translator for messaging, so I can quickly arrange that I will be there and they know and they say to message when I arrive, they will come get me.

So I download the address card from SNG, show it to the taxi driver, and he takes me there. I get out of the taxi, find the address and -- here is where it gets strange. There is no one at all standing in front of the building. Usually there is a guard / doorman or two. Message the manager, say I am there, and get a reply that says they cannot find me. Well, I guess it turns out that either Caesars is no longer in this location, or the manager contact doesn't work there anymore. Sure enough. I ask the manager to send me the address and I get an address a few minutes away from Donghua University. Dammit, now I have to find another taxi, show them the address, and take another 15 minutes to get there. Bummer. But as Hunter Thompson once said, if you buy the ticket, take the ride.

So I get to the building, it's huge. Several big neon signs advertising massage places there. Sorry I deleted the address, but the one photo I took had a picture with a green sign and LIANJIA written on it, which I think is a real estate company. I message the manager and she says to wait, they will send someone out to get me. A couple of minutes alter someone comes out, it is mama manager, and she walks me in- thank god because I never would have found this place. We go up a back staircase a couple of floors, up an elevator I think, then boom into the facility. It looks nothing like the photos of Caesars that SNG has, but it does seem to be a high-quality place. Same procedure, I have to change immediately into slippers / flip flops before heading back to the locker room. None of these places seem to have slippers that fit a US size 12 foot.

So I start to head back t the locker room, get my wrist band with the locker number on it, locker room attendant guides me back to the locker and uses my wristband to unlock my locker. So, yes, the same technology that allows me to charge a meal against the meal plan at Disney is being used here to do everything from unlock your locker to pairing you up with the girl.

I change into the gear they provide, some cotton shorts and a shirt that both look like pyjamas, and the locker attendant guides me out to the next phase. I sit in a waiting area, and the mama / manager gal comes to get me. She shows me a photo on her phone with the rates on it and the letters / levels, and then I proceed into the viewing room to make a choice.

Holy fucking shit.

I am led into a room with about 35 girls arranged with the back row standing and the front row on chairs. There are all kinds of gals in there. Short ones, tall ones, thick or thin, big boobs or small. One thing for certain, at a particular time or place, I would probably want to fuck every single one of them. The speakers are blasting some sort of Asian dance music, the lights are flashing, there are mirrors- if I had to explain the sensation, I would probably say that it is the feeling that hardcore gamblers get on a busy casino floor, with all the slots and lights. I am not going to go through all the particulars, but suffice to say after the nuru we get down to business and have a great time. Well worth the effort. But, lesson learned- contact the managers first and confirm the address of any place (they can send you the address via wechat and you just show it to the driver on your phone).

General recommendation: use Chinese websites to find addresses. Google and Apple don't have up-to-date info.Fully support your recommendation. As a matter of fact and strangely unknown to most China does not allow the majority of foreign companies to use accurate Chinese maps. This goes that far that they randomly falsificate GPS data with an algorithm. Apple switches to Amap automatically as soon as you enter China without telling you. Still it does not work well using English or PinYin. So you must use Chinese map providers and the mandarin written address to find most things that are not famous like the forbidden city. As of course the English markers are often wrong, misspelled etc. Finding the way in China has never been easy. But rest assured most Chinese I know have the same problems.

I just got back to the states after a quick few days in Shanghai. A quick report, nothing too exhaustive.

First, let me say that American Airlines can go fuck itself. Thanks to this douche bag airline, I had a 10 hour flight delay heading to Shanghai. That cost me an entire evening in the city- an extra evening I wish I had at the end of my four nights.

That said, Shanghai was amazing. Beautiful city, great food, nice stuff to see. Sweltering hot in July. It was 100-106 F every day I was there, in evenings it never dropped below 80 F.

'Love Shanghai' you'll quickly learn that FS can be had for about 390 RMB all inclusive at certain Massage Shops, particularly in the Hong Kou and Yangpu districts. After my previous post, a fellow monger PMed me and asked about the beer places I mentioned. In the interest of not having to answer the question again, and wanting to share the info (as I suspect a lot of you like good beer) here is the list of really good places I visited.

1) De Refter: This is a showcase Belgian beer bar for the company that imports that type of beer to the Chinese market. Currently located at 81 Jinxian Rd, Huangpu Qu, Shanghai, but I have been told the location is going to move in August thanks to a landlord that does not want to renew the lease. Very good English bartenders and managers. Served some incredible beers: 2 types of Chimay on tap, Trappist Rochefort 10 (2017), Gulden Draak and a Braunfelser 1868. All except the braunfelser are 10% beers, so be careful! I left this place completely knackered. The current location has a Delerium Tremors Pink Elephant sign hanging outside, and this is often what the place is called. I suspect they will take that sign to the new location. See attached photos for what it looks like.

2) World of Beer. World of Beer is right next to a place called Dr. Beer, and both places are worth visiting. World of Beer has an absolute shit ton of all kinds of beers from around the world, with an ex-pat feel inside. So good English all around. Bar menu is good but do not expect much in the way of Shanghaiese foods -- it is pretty much a western menu with some spices thrown in. Look at the photo attached, they had so many beers I couldn't get them all in one photo. World of Beer is located at 3 Fumin Rd, Jingan Qu, Shanghai.

3) Beer Lady. Located at 455 Fahuazhen Lu, near Dingxi Lu. Everything from US craft brews to hard to find belgian ales. There are a couple of Belgian ales aged for years by monks that sell for 20,000 RMB. There are also a couple of beers that sell for 10 why. Try the 10 RMB beers, you might be surprised. Good english as well and open 24/7 because it is known as a "convenience store".

4) Jackie's beer Nest. The first real craft beer place in Shanghai. Ground zero for Shanghai craft beer. Totally under-the-radar. At 76 Zhaozhou Lu, near Dongtai Lu. Quirky interior and managed by a guy who will talk about beer until he is out of breath. Great welcoming atmosphere. Closes early at 10 pm for some reason, so get there early.

5) Boxing Cat Bewery. Sinan Mansions, Unit 26 A, 519 Fuxing Zhong Lu, near Sinan Lu. Excellent craft beer on tap, maybe five or six of their own beers. They do not sell others. Recently bought by InBev, but if you can get over your snobby "I don't like to drink anything owned by those big beer dickheads" then it is worth the trip. No InBev influence is present.

6) Kerry Hotel. There is a lobby bar called THE BREW that is excellent.

7) Liquid Laundry. Shanghai Shi, Xuhui Qu, HuaiHai Lu XiDuan, 淮28023;20013;36335;1028. Affiliated with Boxing Cat, but they have a lot of other brands on sale here. One of the places besides Jackies that is a must visit.

8) The Bund Brewery. Sucked absolute balls. Shitty beer and filled with dickheads. One asshat wouldn't let me sit at his table even though he had two extra seats. Said he was waiting for a couple of people. An hour later those people were still not there. I walked up and called him a cocksucker, then left.

The workload seems about the same, for what I imagine is more pay, and a safer working environment in the Sauna.

My thought is the saunas are selective in who they hire, and they can't get a gig there. But the massage girls are young enough and pretty enough, and they have the skills, which makes me think they are not passing health tests. A typical Chinese punter would chose beauty and youth over service. Service is secondary, the idea is to bang a model type. 170 cm and above usually puts the girl into the model type category, under 155 cm and the girl starts at the bottom level.

3. supply and demand. A typical sauna will have more than 40 girls (bigger saunas like HaoMen on QuYang Lu will have 70+ girls) any day, while a GM place will have less than 10 girls. A punter walks into a sauna and there will be more than 20 girls on stage for selection, while a GM goes with the "next girl up" rotation policy, there's no fishbowl or selection stage.

There are no KeFu or pimps that you will have to contact before they let you in, just call ahead to make appointment or walk in and ask the girl's number. Don't want them cross infecting each other.

Also, age was not a factor in the GM shops in question- all advertised girls were under 25. Sure, they may have some older ones not advertised.

So I suppose it comes down to what is considered beautiful- the GM girls do seem on the shorter end and darker skin complexion. But that happens to be my preference anyway, so win win.
