And how do prices compare with pre-Covid?Yes MPs could they be legit or provide extras are going to ask you in most cases for either a alipay / city QRCode to be green or for you to scan the QRCode from your mobile operator to show you've been in the city for 14 days or more. And then they're going to check for your temperature.

That being said, these MPs are not getting your private info, you are the one scanning or just updating the info you display on your phone. They aren't getting anything from you. But alipay and your phone company knows you've been in this area. Yeah well again nothing new, your geoloc infos are being tracked all the time anyway.

The only real issue you can be worried about is that if contamination happens either to you or to the MP the link between you and the place will be made more public than you may want it to be. That being said, that's why I wouldn't go to anything else than a MP because at least you can somewhat pretend you were having a legit massage. In other venues it gets harder to even pretend that.

As for being welcomed or not. I've been to 5 different MPs from 3 different chains the past couple months and while a couple asked questions of how long I've been in China for recently, the girls in the room are much more relaxed than the front desk. I usually cover the topic at the begining of the session myself to relax them too.

Pretty much all the MP SPA chains which have been reported here in the past year with locations in Jing'an, Xintiandi, or Changning districts are back to business.

Almost all of them live in rundown complexes, so we just look weird walking around their complexes, especially because we look different and because we are wandering around looking lost, so everyone knows we don't really belong there. I try to dress way down whenever I went there. Recently, I got yelled at by the security of a complex, and they even threatened to call the police. But luckily one of them realized that they were overreacting and I was able to just walk away. So, for now, I am going to avoid going into their apartment complexes. I actually have an ATF apartment gal, and she said that she had to meet me at the front gate to escort me into the complex, but I decided it wasn't worth the attention.

As for MPs, most of them seem open. Extras are now more plentiful than ever before at any MP that is NOT a well known legit chain. Some appartments which are usually called studios in the adds from chinese sites & wechat accounts with a bunch of "saunalike girls". Other old communities where the local old people have been reporting strangers during the day due to their fear of covid.

Its unclear how it goes from there. I guess the usual thing where they ask for a confession and checking both people phone and wechat to see the kind of messages which were exchanged.

Thats how some people got busted with Steven's SNG ring, they were 2 consenting adults and police just confronted the people involved with CCTV images asking them to confess based on these images and wechat messages. They were not necerly caught during the act.

Same thing in Hongqiao a few years back in front of a MP or the MP at Xikang / Changping in Jing'an where a customer going out from the shop was asked by the police what he had done there and that if he confessed they wouldn't bother him (which usually is a lie. Confessing rarely exonerates you in China).

MPs can be hard to find, depending on where in the city you are. In Minhang for instance where it's gone underground for a while you wouldn't easily find any without help.

Just for an example, here's a spot in Xuhui more or less like the old Changshou place. Closest metro is Line 12 Hongcao, north about two blocks on Tianlin Road. Inside the plaza it should be easy to identify a fairly large Starbucks, a little to the left of that there are stairs up leading to a net cafe. Pass through their lobby towards a shared bathroom for the floor and keep going down a hallway into the interior of the building. There's an elevator and stairs on the right-hand side, and the first door past the stairs is the spot. Totally unmarked, it just looks like an office or residence's door. They monitor the camera that looks like it's pointed at the elevator, but prefer messaging inside once you add their contact.

So how similar to Changshou? Had at max 20 people as well though haven't asked recently, rooms might be somewhat fewer and smaller but much cleaner overall (no more wet towels or smells of clogged drains). Busy overall so the waiting room is still a possibility, though haven't seen foreigners yet. Routine is basically the same, hell some of the people were at Changshou before. Price is different though, hiked after crackdown and again after outbreak so it's 358 now.

MPs have been depopulating a bit though, so even areas / streets if not specific addresses would help to locate spots.

Continuing my journey through Shanghai's floating world, I booked a bit of time with Cecilia. It's interesting how in the world's most populous nation, foreigners rely in large part on other foreigners for their paid intimate forays. It's not in the hotel's interest to turn in their guests to the police, with the level of seeming hesitance to do so bumping up a bit at foreign hotel brands, especially more highly-regarded ones. That is in no way a grant of immunity. They're not going to protect you for one second if there's an incident that requires police involvement, such as you and the girl get into an argument, or one of you is injured, or there is theft of property.

Finally I can recommend another good place if you are into roaming. The place has been reported long time ago. You can look for Fahuazhen in previous posts. It is one stop north of Hongqiao Road station on line 3/4. Closest stop is the West Yan'an Road. Place is a little bit hidden. It is on Fahuazhen on the west after the crossroad with Yangzhai road. Entrance is just next to some hairdressers. When you are coming from the crossroad and walking toward the west, look for the shops on your right. 10 m away there is a window with no signs, it is relatively dark inside. The standard questionnaire for the Health cards as App or in hotels will ask you, if you have been in another country in the last 14 days.

Traveling should not be an issue, but better get your Health Card in the phone set up ASAP (E. G. In Alipay). In some cities they will check this health card when leaving the train station.

This is one of the things that makes Shanghai different from other Chinese cities, including Beijing. In Beijing, there are several reliable outcall agencies that are foreigner-friendly that provided gals at your price point, but that doesn't exist in Shanghai as far as I know. An amazing coincidence is that something similar happened to me a few days ago. An MP gal that I know finally got a place to herself. So, I convinced her to let me go to her new place for incall. She gives me her address and room number, but she says to text her when I'm outside her door and she will let me in. Before the virus I used to go to the MaDang shop and the place on xietu that is related to big chain shops that everyone mentions in the previous posts. Both those places would give BBBJ and get on top of my bottomless and start working it but no FS. Now since the virus it's literally a mechanical HJ of course topless and bottomless (I can wander) even from my usual providers. They said they can't do anymore. But knowing what I could get before it's very blah and unsatisfying.

So after posting I contacted the FS provider that moved out to hongqiao. She recently just moved back to the jing'an area. Said she was working at Yu Spa. People may or may not care about this but I thought I would give my advice based on personal experience in trying out MPs for the first time. Requires a little Chinese or at least understand certain questions they ask. Every time I go to a new place or a new provider they always ask if it's my first time there or ask how many times I been to the place. Never say it is your first unless you want a mechanical HJ. I always tell them "I have been there before (recently) and I forget the number of the provider but they stripped down, massage my little guy with their butt, and BBBJ. I was quoted RMB 488 (a bit high? For that I got a very decent massage, HJ was clearly included. The facilities were nice and clean, including the shower. The girl, a 6/7, asked for a tip to remove clothes, which was expected.

This may very much change week-by-week, but my own experience and others (all arriving from Europe) is that if you have a residential address in SH and no cases on your flight you can do quarantine days 8-14 in the comfort of your own home (and local building mngt is responsible for ensuring that you're not going outside. At all). While in quarantine (days 1-7) there is a range of hotels, all basic but very much varying in 'friendliness' and quality of service. It does seem to depend quite a lot on the Shanghai District where you happen to live. In any hotel you will of course be treated as if you're a grenade with biological warfare material that is ready to explode at any moment. But you can still order from taobao, epermarket etc (instant coffee is a life saver) though no fresh items (or curiously anything in a glass container).

Unless you're a V-V-VIP there is no way to predict or arrange which hotel you're staying in. In my case the people were just herded together to get on one of the two daily buses, and basically at the time of bus departure called around to the various quarantine hotels to see which had enough free hotel rooms.

It's fantastic to be free to eat out, drink and monger but the government is very nervous and things may change at a moment's notice. Travel (and holiday) within China is totally possible but local governments don't use uniform rules to judge who needs to be quarantined and will be severely punished is they fuck up (for allowing 300 cases in Shijiazhuang in Hebei, the mayor has 'disappeared') so you need to forgive them sometimes erring on the side of caution.
