In response to Cocoons concern about Police on TGL, I have been traveling to Shanghai for 4 years visiting several times per year. I usually go to TGL to find WG several times each visit. I have always seen police around the TGL bars, such as Manhattan's or Judy's, especially on weekends.
They are there to make sure people stay civil on this street. I have left with several WGs and they have never cared or even looked twice at me. Nor have I heard about anyone being stopped by them for leaving with a pretty, young girl.
In fact, I think the safest P4P in Shanghai is to meet a WG at a bar. Have a few drinks together and then you can decide if you want to go back to your hotel. I have never heard of a sting in China using this technique. The real risk is that you are bringing a stranger into your hotel room so make sure all valuables are secure.
ALThose aren't police - they are more like private security. They don't do shit about anything (including help you with any trouble - they won't). They are there for decoration purposes only.
That said, be cautious these days. China is not Thailand where you can parade around with whomever and doing whatever you want. Discretion is wise.

A few months back the guards did beat down a drug dealer that tried to sneak in the back door of manhattans after being thrown out the front door. The dealer fell and hit his head, ended up dieing later.
Inside Judys & Manhattans is pretty much the same as recent months. Girls will ask 1500-2000rmb LT. 99% will go far 1000. 800 is pretty easy if you chat up the girl. 500 for the girls that dont get frequent business.
The normal bar on Tongren Red Beat closed last month, and just read that Blue Frog is closing soon. I think the bar street will be moving soon.

Have been coming to China off and on for a long time. And have used different techniques to get the girls. But this time was a bit lazy and tried the online expat forums to find (I know its always more of a miss than a hit)

Golden18 is still the best after trying lot of them. Had 7, 76, 1, 86 over two session. 76 was wild with no English and 76 was wild with some English. Had them in pair. Nothing new to add than what has been posted but 76 is best in AR if you into that stuff.
Stayed in Shanghai hotel and talked with managers. The 2nd floor is closed. Went to Sarcosa. Had good time with 558. But still Golden18 is the best.

Returned from annual Shanghai trip.
Time invested in Asian Friendfinder got me a nice date, but not worth pursuing. I must be getting soft in older age to not want to break her heart (though her pics were a lot better).
First night. CL order in. Girl was NOT 22 (said they all were.). Place is run by "Angela" who answers the emails, and my girly, Cindy, was probably 30, but pretty good service and amazing rack and nipples about an inch long. So-so night. Don't recommend Amanda who runs the Craigslist ad solely on her misrepresentation.
Hit the saunas another night. Buo Duo. Though I arrived at midnight. Looked like it has closed or moved.

All in all Shanghai a little quiet for my tastes. Agreed I should have tried Sarcosa, and if I wasn't so tired, I would have gone to KTV that is on thrid floor kitty-corner from Sheraton Hongqiao. They have a small walk up bar like in a hotel, and you can ask to see lineup for a takeout. I prefer this to dealing with streetside touts who no doubt go there and other like it for their supply.
Flew to SHZ. Off to CP and DG where action improved considerably.

It is my understanding that at least the owners of Manhattan have plans to open/operate another establishment in another location. It seems they are keeping the location close to the vest at this time. This part is speculation, but probably because they haven't finalized all the necessary "documents". I don't know exactly when the new place will be in operation. I don't think it will take long, because all the Filipina, Thai, Viet gals will have to go home if they don't have someplace to work.
I haven't heard a thing about Judy's or if the closing of Tongren will affect Malone's as well. Stay tuned!!

A week ago Saturday I went out on the town in Shanghai. (One side note: next time I fly into PVG, I will take the maglev train so as to reduce the time I spend with a kamikaze Shanghai taxi driver.)
Coming down Nanjing West Lu, one the left -hand side you have Manhattan, Judy's and several other places. I don't know most of these places, but there seemed to be a lot of people in Manhattan, behind closed doors. A year ago, I had a great time with a couple of girls at Chicago (and even got a quick good-night smooch from one.) One of the good things about that place was the go-go dancer, though there seemed to be none on duty Saturday night. Overall, business seemed a bit slow.
I turned and went down Tongren Lu in the opposite direction, toward Malone's. One the way, I got propositioned by one drug dealer, a cute 3-year old street urchin boy, and a street walker.
There was a pretty fun party going on in Malone's. There was a Filipino cover band called Art 6 playing, which seemed to have a fondness for the music of Bon Jovi and Guns & Roses (they played a little too much Bon Jovi, in my opinion.) The crowd was a mixture of many expats (who seemed mostly British), along with some people on dates and Filipinas. There were also a couple ladyboys at the bar. There was one really cute girl who came in, probably drunk, with a big stuffed animal and accompanied by a doofus with a man-purse. I felt a bit sorry for her. Qing Daos were a whopping 45 RMB! The Filipinas at the bar were not particularly flirty, though a couple of regular girls seemed to be. I did, though, get propositioned by two working girls while I was there.
It was a pretty bad scene when I left, about 2:30 a.m. A pair of streetwalkers propositioned me between Malone's and Nanjing Lu. One pushed her large boobs up to get me to look while she made a clumsy attempt to stick her hands in my pockets. Towards the other bars, the cute little kid was still there, having mastered the phrase "Give me money!" Although I had contributed earlier, he followed me aggressively for quite a while. In China, if you can't verify it yourself, be careful what you believe. And that includes what you read in ISG. Check out the reports, do your homework. Do the legwork. I do not know where one could get accurate information on whose visa was revoked or who lost there residence permit. I frequest a sauna. The manager knows my face. PM if you want.

Only other bar strip is probably Julu lu or just opposite the Hilton. Both are more expensive than TRL (lady drinks in Julu lu are 70RMB) but I have heard things sometimes can get raunchy there.
I think Eddie is somewhat right in the call that it is for newbies, but I would add that last time I have been there it seems to be minimum age of 50 Y.O westerners.
I personally don't know anywhere that you could say is close to TRL in atmosphere and entertainment similarity.
It has a unique place in the Shanghai nightlife scene and will sad to see close down, despite its annoyances and prices.

I don't know about Shanghai but I've been told by LE in SZ that it is a real pain in the ass to arrest a foreigner. The paperwork is a nightmare and they often have to deal with foreign embassies getting involved. Most LE would rather avoid it and tend to just send you on your way. I've been in similar situations where I was asked to hide in a BBS or room until the LE moved on. I've also been in BBS areas when raids went down and the LE just asked me to leave the area quickly.

Just return from a little afternoon mongering trip. First went to Bao Duo (well I think that's the name but I might have it wrong, well it's on luban lu / xietu lu). The place appears definitely dead: nobody waiting in the street entrance, and they even destroyed the elevator button fur the first floor. Made a recent visit to G18. First stopped by around noon, but realized it was too early. Did some shopping nearby and then returned around 2pm to find a doorman waiting by. On Zhapu Lu just off Tiantong Lu there are two locations. One on the left and another on the right. If you walk past them and pause one of the girls will motion you in with her finger. Tass - the working girls in Zapata's and Malone's are usually quite obvious. They are sitting at the bar or working the crowd. If you make eye contact and they smile back, go over and talk to them. If she is alone, she is definitely a WG. If she is with a friend or two, then talk for a few minutes. Usually they will ask where are you staying, are you in Shanghai for long and then they will usually ask you if you want to leave.

Because I met a nice freebie last time I was in Shanghai i did not visit the sauna's and WG bars anymore. Why pay if you can get it for free.

It is easy to pick up in Zapatas. As stated in the thread the girls on their own on the left of the main door to the dance floor/ bar. Often they will have outside coats on or over their arm.

The sign is covered over now by some canvas tarp to keep it looking discreet. When it is open, you will see someone sitting or standing near the entrance, who is the watchdog and keeper of the elevator key. No signs of LE when I was there. Be cautious anyways. If your gut tells you something doesn't feel right, don't risk it.

Fujian: Supposedly give the best HJ. Many of the HJ only joints are staffed by girls from Fujian.

Hubei: Overall, I've had poor service from this group. Many I have done have been in a hurry and/or tried to overcharge me.
Jiangsu: I've only done a few so I cannot render an opinion.
You also get quite a few Zhejiang girls in Shanghai since it is close. Again, I've not done enough of these to judge.
We get a lot of Hunan and Hubei girls down South. IMHO, the Hunan girls are a close second to Sichuan in terms of service.
Obviously, YMMV.

ThanksThese bars are quite nice and not expensive. A ladydrink is 45 RMB. Although it is not standard procedure for the girls to spend the night with a customer, they earn their living from the commission on the drinks, it is possible to take them back to the hotel. I paid 1000 RMB for a night and all next day until she had to go back to work. Filippina girls are more willing than the Chinese. You might have to work a little harder on the latter.

Hello, fellow monger friends, I come from a land far far away and somehow ended up in shanghai for two weeks. Been a monger myself in my country (same that has one ISG subforum dedicated to itself) and wanting to expands my horizons I came to this forum. Just been to the Merilyn Sauna today and it was only open for normal sauna services, no FS available. I asked how long and was told definately today and tomorrow closed for FS! Seems there is a new round of clean up ongoing! Stay save, I think it will only get worse towards to Expo!

Use caution while taking taxis to late-night venues.
A few months ago, I headed out to TRL around midnight & grabbed a taxi waiting in the street near my 5-star hotel in Pudong. What should have been a $5 taxi fare turned into about $30. I'm sure the meter was rigged since it was spinning at a very high rate. I should have jumped out at the nearest stop light, but was in a hurry to get to TRL. After arriving at Judy's, I paid him with two 100 yuan bills. Which he held up to the light and shouted that they were fake. So I took the bills back & gave him two fresh bills.
Later on, I checked with the hotel & indeed the two bills were fake. Of course, you know the scam. He dealt me two bad bills off the bottom of his stack of money & wound up keeping 400 yuan worth of good bills. A very expensive cab ride, indeed. (It took me a few days to pass off those bad bills since most places check them in scanner machines.)
The good news is that the night had a very happy ending after meeting a little cutie inside Manhattan..
Lesson learned: 1. Cabbies at the hotel valet might be a little more reliable late at night than street side ones nearby. 2. Watch the meter closely, especially late at night. 3. Beware of getting passed fake bills & double-paying.
I'm no newbie at international travel. I even carry a gps with me to make sure taxis don't take me on a "scenic" route. I kind of admired this guy for ripping me off so smoothly. Very creative. But never again.

I didn't feel like putting in the time, money and effort for a trip to Manhattan's or Judy TOO, so I decided to venture to Sacrosa about 9:00 pm this evening. As I was getting on the elevator, I noticed three police officers getting off and one lady was talking with them. It didn't look like she was in custody or anything, just trying to explain something. Still, the old "this is a bad sign" radar went off. Just for piece of mind, I took the elevator to the 8th floor, walked down to 6 then got back on an elevator to 5F. As I got off three of the "door men" told me "we are closed" at the same time. I asked for how long and didn't get an answer. I didn't ask if this was a recent decision, but got the impression, it had happened in the last few minutes. Everyone was standing around and even the receptionist was still at her station.
I don't know if the police I saw were involved in the closing, but it sure felt like it. I was pissed.....like that matters.
Walked back to the Century City metro, and totally forgot about the bars that Humpalot mentioned. Second mistake. The only good thing was I didn't succumb to the touts across from the Intercontinental. Maybe you can't get service from the girls these guys have, but not sure I want to try. I even passed up a "mommy's" promise of a good time with one of her girl's. I know in some locale's these are good bet, not sure about Shanghai.
Anyway, it seems that this is going to be a bit of ongoing problem with the saunas, it is a damn shame I tell you!

Taxis here rarely cheat, because the penalty is quite punitive (by their standards).

The weekend (part timers) taxies are the worst. They act like they're confused and if you don't know the way yourself it's the long way around for you. You can always tell because they make such a theatric out of it. Surely a dumb tourist will fall for it because they are confused to.
I was lucky enough to catch a cab in a back street off Nanjing Lu during the Moon Festival. I showed him a Zappatta's card but then relaxed instead of paying attention. When we go there I looked at the meter to see the fare but he never put it on. I pointed to it and he said 70 rmb. It's a 24 rmb ride.
I handed him 25 rmb and said that was all he was getting. He puffed himself up and got mad, saying how I had to pay 70 rmb. He was large at about 35 years and he had me pegged for a 60 year old helpless tourist.
To shorten this. I told him no, he didn't put on the meter. He snarled and said, "You want the meter. " He put it on and started driving around in circles so now I owe him for this as well as the 70 rmb.
When we got to a red light I smashed my door (which was locked) with my elbow braced in my hand. I offered him the 25 rmb again. He said no. I was just joking the first time. I braced myself and smashed his door with my elbow again so hard it visibly bent out (I'm a 60 year old martial artist). Then I rapped the window hard with my fist offered, him the 25 rmb again and snarled at him to open the door. My fist was following his head movements by now.
Suddenly the clear light of reason came into his eyes. He grabbed the money and unlocked the door.
By law you don't have to pay anything if they don't put on the meter. Somewhere on a sign in a taxi (back seat?) I saw an emergency phone number to call if you have problems in a taxi. The sign is in english so presumably you can speak english if you need to. It is a short odd looking number but I wrote down 962-288.

So, I decided to go check G18 out, I thought maybe the place will still be open and this was their last day before vacations. I got on the Line 2 metro

Using that web site that allows me to mark a route from station to station and it will tell me the fare. Ok so based on google maps I thought I should get off at the West Nanjing Station, mistake. So I walked west hoping to find Wulumqi Street (Urumqi on google maps) I walked until I hit the station I should've get off the metro, Jing'an Temple. I keep on walking west until over Nanjing Road until I found the street. I took the liberty to take a few pictures for you guys so that you can recognize the place. The pictures are right on the corner where you have to turn right and walk north a few feet and there you will find it. It says Golden Club on red letters.
When I got to the place around 3 PM today Tuesday nov 24th my fears where confirmed, it was closed. No one at reception and everything seemed shut off. Maybe I got there at a bad time, too early in the afternoon, thinking that its never too early for a nice ph*ck.
Anyway, I'll be here until Saturday and I would like to know what other places like G18 can I go to. Locations, how to get there and prices are very well appreciated.

Shanghai cab drivers will be fired if your complaint is voiced. The Shanghai government, and especially the JingAn District Administration, is tough on this. I've never had this problem in SH. The most frequent problem is new drivers who can't find their way.
I had a problem with an arrogant young cab driver in Xi'an two or three years ago. "Broken meter, run around etc." The gf with me was mad and wanted his head, but I just gave him the extra fare. Five bucks won't impoverish me. Wu kuai meiyuan Qiong buliao wo.

I visited Bar Rouge last weeked again after about 2 years. I was quite surprised (pleasantly) to find so many WGs. I never noticed that in the past.

I walk over to the taxi, it was a black taxi, almost falling apart piece by piece. So I get on, told him what my hotel was so the driver must have estimated the rip off based on the fancy hotel information I gave him. He asks for 250 RMB for a 20 RMB ride, I knew he was ripping me off with that but I had to pay. I told him that how come if one night in my hotel is 700 RMB (corporate rate) you are asking for 250? He says taxi in shanghai is very expensive. "Yeah right you thief". I think to my self.
When we come near the hotel the s. O. B. Drops me near by, doesn't even pull to the main entrance so I had to walk carrying my heavy bag all the way to the hotel. Later I was told that he would've pulled over by the main hotel entrance where the concierge is, he would have been in trouble because he didn't used the meter.
So there you have it, never take black taxis and always ask for the reciept which contains the fare, amount payed and taxi driver badge number if you want to report them.

My first post in this forum, please correct me if I've mis-stated anything, only trying to contribute to this wonderful forum.
So yesterday was my first exploration and I've read on previous posts about Shanghai Hotel. Yesterday around 4pm, I went into the hotel and straight up to 2nd floor. The place was open but the reception told me that there was no massage. They told me there haven't been these last couple days and will not have the next couple either. (I'm assuming that by no massage they mean there's no girls or anything there)
Is there a complete shut down of these massage places? I was really looking forward to having a good time there but was disappointed to find it closed. Can someone confirm this for me? If I'm looking for similar services and price, could someone please suggest me another place?

At the city station of the Maglev a hord of (illegal) taxi drivers are lined up and work to grab the business, putting your bag in the trunk and onc eyou are inside and check the fare they say 205rmb: negotiated down to 150rmb (they damn know it is cheap for us european) and drove us to destination.
Never played that game again. I'd rather prefer to spend more with a hotel limo, being picked up from arrival and deliverred in the room!
Worst experience was once with a rather far away drive, longer by the unexperience of the driver.The main issue was that he was..SLEEPING while driving. I was sensing some strange movements of his head and hands and then turned out he was trying to keep himself awake by slapping his own palm on the face and on the neck.

Shanghai taxi drivers, even the legitimate ones, are among the worse I have ever experienced. Half the time, they do not know to drive to your destination, as they are new to town. Regarding Longyang Station, there is a monitored queue for taxis next to the parking lot. When you pass the turnstile, exit to the left and look for signs for taxis. There will be an escalator down to the street level. There always is an attendant there to monitor the activity. After dozens of trips, I have never been ripped off by any of the taxis there. Avoid the ones trying to pick you up curbside.

Getting tough for them, too...Around 10 police cars drove up Saturday night to check the visa of the Filippino girls working in the bars. They require a working visa, but only have tourist visa. They have been given 10 days to leave the country.

The same rule applies at any transit point in China, not only Shanghai. Look for the official taxi rank, only official taxis are allowed to pick up there. Ignore touts, and ignore maroon "taxis" with fixed rates starting at 50rmb, jumping quickly to 150rmb. These scam taxis are easily recognised by the fact that locals are ignoring them! There are always 20 of them lined up outside the pearl tower. Two weeks ago I spotted a row of these fake taxis picking up at the Shanghai Stadium after a show. They also stand out because they are none VW model vehicles. They do however have a taxi sign, and a meter.
Locals always prefer to take the turquoise Da Zhong taxis!

Went to the joint here on Friday 1AM after reading an old post from long time ago. This sauna/bath place is located in a hotel tucked away in the middle of a long strip of road. Pretty hard to find at night.
Went in, service was alright and was served immediately to the shower room. After taking shower, I was lead to a room and a line of very limited girls showed up. There were only 6 to choose from but all were quite mediocre (all around 5-6) I asked for more but was told those are the only ones still working. Chose number 405 because she had a large rack and a sweet smile. She led me up to a room upstairs and we did our business. She began the routine with the water sucking all around my back and sliding her tits on me. She progressed to a BJ and fucked her. She was alright, looked like she worked hard for me but she just wasn't that good. Her body wasn't as slim as I had imagined.
Anyway, pretty disappointing rookie experience. Total damage was 680, I don't think I'll go there again. Will try G18 this weekend.

Yes G18 is open again. It was definately shut earlier on this week but a few days ago the doors opened. Tonight the dude at the door quoted me 880. I'm on a budget so am not yet able to partake.
Another option is further on down the road, in the same building as the Shanghai No 1 Hotpot restaurant. Walk down the covered alley (yeah it was a bit scary but there are huge signs in Chinese and Japanese advertising a Sauna), and get into the elevator. A gentleman confirmed my intentions and led me to the internet cafe/game centre where there is a special entrance to the sauna. Was quoted 650 for full service and 750 for VIP service (a nicer room it seems).
Will write a report when I give either of them a go.

After dozens of trips, I have never been ripped off by any of the taxis there. Avoid the ones trying to pick you up curbside.Actually it's not that bad. Never had a pricing problem and only like 5 times the driver did not know where to go. Just ignore the touts & that's it. Just popped into G18 yesterday afternoon. Lineup was ok but not great. None of the previous mentioned girls. So I took number 53 and then 90 joined for the cleanup routine. I decided to take both which turned out to be a mistake. 53 was much more into it than 90.
90 was pretty timid (suprised considering she's been around for 8 years) and I ended up just focusing more on 53. 53 was a bit more keen on providing a good experience even though her acting skills are a bit on the poor side. Yes G18 is open again. It was definately shut earlier on this week but a few days ago the doors opened. Tonight the dude at the door quoted me 880. I'm on a budget so am not yet able to partake.
Another option is further on down the road, in the same building as the Shanghai No 1 Hotpot restaurant. Walk down the covered alley (yeah it was a bit scary but there are huge signs in Chinese and Japanese advertising a Sauna), and get into the elevator. A gentleman confirmed my intentions and led me to the internet cafe/game centre where there is a special entrance to the sauna. Was quoted 650 for full service and 750 for VIP service (a nicer room it seems).
Will write a report when I give either of them a go.

So apparently my post was not helpful last time, let me try again to see if this one would be any good.
Went to the joint here on Friday 1AM after reading an old post from long time ago. This sauna/bath place is located in a hotel tucked away in the middle of a long strip of road. Pretty hard to find at night.
Went in, service was alright and was served immediately to the shower room. After taking shower, I was lead to a room and a line of very limited girls showed up. Went to the Wynn KTV on the Bund a couple of days ago. Had really high hopes as it's supposed to be really high class and exclusive, and within a yard that has some military as guards. The crowd was older businessmen but very KTV savvy so it ensured a fun environment, but the women were experienced (mid 20s) Shanghai girls that know what they're doing, a bit older than the typical ones in Guangdong, not particularly better than BBS girls, and really damn expensive. But usually tell the driver along the way that I will be using the card (plus I'm still a very young looking guy, so they think I may be a student or someone like that and expect I will be using it). You can tell the driver in advance "wo you jiao tong ka" or "wo yao yong jiao tong ka" (just basic Chinese, no fancy grammar) to let him know.
To answer the card purchase question the other guy had. The easiest thing would be to go to a subway station, go to the manned ticket office, hand over a 100RMB bill and say "wo yao jiao tong ka" (again, I kept it very simple so anyone can say that). They seem to have a stack of prepaid cards for 100RMB (deposit included), so the whole purchase is very fast. To top up an existing card or check the credit, just use the big blue machine next to ticket machines in subway, it can be switched to English.

Cost is 20 RMB. That is what I paid. Available in any subway station. Then you add how many RMB you want on the card for transportation itself. Can be used on any subway, bus and taxi. Taxi's prefer cash but they will take the card. You can add RMB to it at any subway station. I don't know know if you can return the card or not. I need mine every couple of days. Beats trying to use cash all the time.

Just wave it at the person behind the glass or I the store with 100RMB (or whatever you want to put on it) and yep, as BL says, easy peasy, nicely charged up.
Drivers normally ask you if you want to pay cash or card. To avoid Ira's problem, just wave it at him at the beginnign of the journey. No excuses for him then.
They can be used in many places. Some girls will give you a blow job if you waved it past their left breast. A bargain at 30RMB (they are set to local pricing). Just don't try inserting it in the slot. They get grumpy then and will demand extra cash.

The building is on the corner and the address is 1856 Nanjing Lu. There is a big "Shangahi No 1 Restaurant" sign you can see from the photo. You can also just see the sauna sign in the covered alley way. Walk into the alley and get the lift to 4F where the internet cafe is, as soon as I got into the lift someone with a walkie talkie queried my intentions, I suppose you will get the same. Many of the bars, and some new ones, are moving to Da Tong. It is located on Julu lu, 158, not far from RuiJin lu. It's underground, sort of (open air but below ground). Was built to be a mall, so it's huge, complete with very slippery floors as Chinese just love for reasons that non-Chinese will never understand (I believe it's so they can hose off the blood, vomit, etc easily).
There's a big food court and will be some shopping, wine stores, etc. there as well. Will change the dynamic a bit I suppose.
The bars should start opening there around Feb 2010, provided there is no shutdown of that place too - perhaps the new layout underground and the revamped image will help preserve it, unlike Maoming lu, Julu lu, and now Tongren lu.

Scams of this kind happen, but usually not in a 5star. They usually cost way more than 500 RMB if they happen. Bloody amateurs on the scammers' part.
If something like this should happen in a 5star, you should ask the security guy and the "police" to remain in the room, then reach for the phone and demand the immediate presence of the manager. The least that will happen after that is that the security guard is out of a job. If they are really vigilant, security guy and "police" will end up in jail. Amateur hour on the guest's part.

Golden 18 used to be a reliable address in SH. But recently, they had unannounced visitors. There were reports of closings and reopenings. Two days ago, we decided to check it out ourselves. Last week I was in Shanghai for a short stay.
Thanks to all the ones who helped for direction to the place, I decided to check golden 18 (and compare the level of China to the one in Japan for such places)
I went there 3 times, from Sunday to Tuesday.
Sunday I went at around 11PM
On Monday, I went there at around 10, but as reported below, the guy at the entrance explained me that they would open from midnight only. So I came back at around quarter past 12
Same thing happened on Tuesday.
Sunday I had n. 28 Monday n. 12 and Wednesday n. 35
Basically all of them are really trained to perform the same way, so although I had 3 different girls, the service was almost the same.
28 Could speak a bit english, so I think that was the one I had the best impression of.
12 was ok, she was not so friendly (might be the language problem) so that was
35 was the nicest looking and the most professional but it was all to much as a automatic learned action with her. I almost had the impression of being with a mannequin sometimes (but a really sexy mannequin)

My friend and I went for 2 nights to four different Shanghai bars all of which were owned by the same person or related parties. There were a lot of beautiful girls there. We got phone numbers from several different girls. Then we noticed that all of the girls we talked to had the exact same white square cell phone. And all of them asked us to text them the following day. None of the girls we phoned called us back when we phoned them the next day. But they responded to our texts by suggesting we go back to the same venue! The following day we went back to another night club and the same exact thing happened but we got suspicious when the 7th girl had the exact same white square cell phone as everyone else. How many people have the exact same cell phone?
So we talked to the last girl and she admitted that she was paid 200 RMB per night to stay until 7 PM and get guys to buy her drinks and come back and buy tables. The venue owner gave her a white square cellular phone so she could give a fake phone number to any guy who asked for her phone number. The club owner or patron responds to any text message to these phones by suggesting that you come back to the same club.
Considering the number of women at this venue who had the EXACT SAME PHONE, we figure that 60% of the girls at the club were in on the scam. A bottle costs 1500 RMB-2800 RMB in these club don’t buy one.
DO NOT GO TO ANY OF THESE VENUES. A large portion of the women there are covertly in on an elaborate scam to get patrons to purchase tables and drinks. If you see a girl with a square white cell phone she is probably part of the scam, so avoid her!
Of course this is a forum for mongers, but if you’re trying to get girls by picking them up, BEWARE of these venues.

I developed a freebie (actually nothing is free.) by becoming a regular at a really nice place called the Beauty Center at 648 Lao Shan Lu in Pudong. I have been going to BBF, G+ etc for a couple o years now and have never encountered this. The crowd is generally pretty chilled (or drunk, especially the young 'uns who run out around 12. 30am) and the service is usually pretty straightforward sure some of the bar guys can be rather twat like).
I have met many girls at these places (just for fun, drinknig etc, sometimes for freebie fun) and I have never encountered anything like Jademd describes. Can't recall any white cell phones and we always pay the same for "Chivas" and green tea or for beer.

Chaps. If the freebie scene is you cup of tea, or you just like some not too bad clubs with sometimes great, sometimes dire music (as with any club), these are the good ones and much fun can be had. Nice try buddy. Each bar you mentioned have their own hostesses. It's not a scam, it's your own fault you can't tell who is who from your own inexperience. As pointed out, bottles don't cost 1500RMB. For the more respectful crowd, G+ is a good place to be. Drinks are just 80-160RMB. They have a very nice bar area whereas Richy's and BBF gets way too crowded. One thing I dislike about BBF is they don't have a bar section on weekends! They sell it as "spots" that require a bottle purchase. Lame I know but their business is just too good.

Being in adventurous mood, I decided to just explore Nanjing Rd W on my own as frankly I did not do my homework prior to visiting Shanghai so really had to clue where to have some fun.
It is truly amazing how many good looking girls are in this area. Not WG type but just shopping, going home from work or somewhere and many of them are stunningly good looking and dress to kill. Since weather was OK and I felt like walking so strolled along at a leisury pace admiring the surroundings.
Got as far as People’s Park and across the street saw Fenshine Fashion & Accessories Plaza which apparently is a replacement for the infamous Xiangiang Market. This was a fun place back in 2004/2005, so I decided to see what this Fenshine place is all about.
Well, similar stuff but just not the same atmosphere and since the vendors were very aggressive I quickly exited through the side door.
The side door led to some narrow corridor and there was a brightly lit entrance with Rainbow Room sign in all colors. It looked like a cheap xmas tree on steroids. I guessed that this Rainbow Room is some kind of a club for locals and since I did not feel like spending my money on overpriced drinks, I kept walking.
Back on Nanjing Rd I turned back and saw this large sign “MASSAGE 6F” with the bunch of Chinese characters. Hmmmm…..a massage seemed like a good idea so I went back, through the “Rainbow Room” entrance, found an elevator and got to the sixth floor.
The sign on the door to the left said “Fengdinguyan Sauna” with door wide open so I walked in. The guy at the entrance seemed a little bit surprised to see me but all in smiles managed to ask something that sounded like “special service?”
“Yes, special service” I replied and walked in.
Another guy showed up who could speak some English and said “680 for special service, 70 minutes, OK?” Well, 680 RMB is a reasonable price for 70 minutes no matter how special the service is and the place looked nice, clean and professional so I agreed.
The guy asked me to take off my shoes so with some bewilderment I complied. Next I was led through a series of doors and narrow corridors to a room with two large recliner chairs, a locker, TV screen and not much else. The clean set of shorts and shirt was waiting there and the guy showed me a small closet to store my clothes and gave me a plastic bracelet with some kind of electronic key. As I learned later, the key number is a way they keep customers moving through the process so my advice is to put it on your wrist as without it they get all flustered and confused. Also, finding the room after turned out to be a challenge without the key number.
After about 10 min, another guy shows up and asks “Go see girls?” Well, I took him up on the offer and he led me to a room with one wall set as a window to another room (one way I presume) were about 10 girls were standing at attention. The range was anyway from 5 to 8 so none was particularly striking beauty but they were all young, slim so I was not disappointed. The number 33 attracted my attention as she had this special kind of mischievous smile that told me that I may actually have some fun.
Soon after the number 33 came out and she led me to the actual massage room. Huge shower, bed and not much else. As this was my first time in AMP, I got a chuckle from the elaborate washing ritual but the girl had a nice body and smile although zero English which was OK as I did not come for a stimulating conversation.

Great report! I just want to ask a question.
As you had agreed to 680 RMB for the session, it was obviously an all inclusive package for FS. Why did you feel inclined to give her a nearly 50% tip? It is included in the package to "focus on your satisfaction and work hard on the second shot". A tip is not required, however, 50-100 RMB would have been plenty if you must.

While Judys has a new location at the old City Diner, I also noted a Judys will open down the road from Big Bamboo. It is actually the street that is perpendicular to Big Bamboo. It is in the block where the Portman complex resides. Go up some stairs and it is in the back. I believe it is next to a restaurant. Think they open in January.

Great report! I just want to ask a question.
As you had agreed to 680 RMB for the session, it was obviously an all inclusive package for FS. Why did you feel inclined to give her a nearly 50% tip? It is included in the package to "focus on your satisfaction and work hard on the second shot". A tip is not required, however, 50-100 RMB would have been plenty if you must.

I was at Manhattan for opening night last Thursday and it was all business as usual. The free drinks from 10 to 12 was a nice touch and certainly had the place packed earlier than usual. The layout is very similar to the old Manhattan but much wider with much better bathrooms. No upper deck in this venue either. Drank and danced until 4 am before heading back to the hotel with two viet girls. As busy as the place was it did not look like too many girls were being picked up. I was completely out of rmb and told the two girls I was with that all I had was $100 US and they took it, just desperate to get out of there I think. I've been reading ISG for some time, but this is my first report.
I've roamed Pudong yesterday for some BBS, around Beizhong Road it seems everything is closed, not even street lamps in the area after 11pm. In Yinsheng Road near Carrefour Jinqiao store there were some pretty faces in the windows, but nothing that really stood out.
Does anyone know if the shops in Wuzhong Road are still open? I remember there used to be quite a few stunners there. I only ever got HS there, though.
I've never been in on of those legitimate massage parlors. How does this work? Oil or soapy. Does the girl take off her clothes and let you massage her? And how much do I have to expect to pay?

I have alsways got two, and very occasionally three shots in all these places. Generally I reckon you pay for the time and do what you want, within reason, during that time. I have certainly never been tapped up for additional cash anywhere except Phoenix Massage on Xietu Lu.
Sometimes it will depend on timing and pace. If they can stretch you out so that pop 1 comes only 10 minutes before the end of the session they wil normally suggest "Xiu xi" (rest). And that is it, but if you get some playability going early on and both enjoying it, you should be able to move things along faster.
SH was the toughest, but B2 (much missed even though it was in a dire location for me) they almost semed to be begging for it. Well, not quite, but you know what I mean! G18, always, as is 500 WZ Lu, JD (also WZ Lu), 999.
The other thing to do is to ensure she thinks you are in town for a while. You do not need to be a great Chinese speaker to get this across. They always ask. Just say you live here. Her thinking will be that you are worth investing in and are more likely to return.
On top of that, this is why it so so very important people post good information here

- Girls number (not hard to remember)
- performance / number of shots
- cost
This is the case, good or bad.
Most don't care about the process. We know what goes on in these places. And most of us don't care whether she came, how hard, how long and what a god you are in the sexual act. If we want porn, we will buy, download or borrow our mates. And who needs that in SH?

Had a body full of Whisky and green tea) but had to haul in on the way home. The new location is the spit image of the old one. All the pillars have been moved up there from TRL but it is a significntly bigger space, higher ceilings and all. Bathrooms, as stated (heck, why are so fascinated by them?!) are much better but expact a Scott Of The Antartic style expedition to get there.
So, talentwise: At 2. 30am there seemed to be a morsoe bunch of Phils girls hanging at the back, some Chinese girls and lots of Viet girls, some very attractive. However, as CO said, there did not seem to be much buying going on and the most good looking (I was involved at the time) was heading for the door at 3am on her own.
This time of year is always a little odd: many Phils girls head home for Christmas, and many of the locals have also headed home which leaves an odd selection. But if you are into Viet girls and happy to pay 800-1000 LT then there is plenty there.
My only complaints remain as with the old place: too dark, you can't see what you are drinking (so to speak); it all starts far too late. C'mon girls: turn up at 9pm not 11. 30!

Anyway, I respectfully disagree with WGS on this post. WGS basically concedes my two main points are true.
1. You will not get freebee fun in these places. They are not pickup joints.

I want to repeat my prior post. If you are looking for freebees or prostitutes don't go to Richy, Luxe, Club G Plus and Babyface Nightclub in Shanghai. Unfortunately, I found that the clubs mentioned above were full of scammers who were PAID money to entertain you and not to have sex with you. Several of the girls told me as much when I confronted them about it. If you are trying to get a freebee going there is counterproductive. I ask the people who support these clubs a simple question. How often have you actually had sex with a girl you met at one of these clubs? I am guessing you've had a lot more luck at other clubs in Shanghai like 88.
I guess some people like to hang out in clubs surrounded by girls who are paid to be your friend without you knowing about it. Personally, I prefer a more transparent situation. Either she is a prostitute and you know what you're getting (sex for money) or she is a freebee that has sex with you because she's horny and thinks you're cool. I am not looking for a hostess who is paid to talk to me and get me to buy drinks. If I wanted to pay someone to talk to me I would hire a shrink.
And for the record, the owner at Lounge 18 (or Bund 18 as it says on the giant sign in front) is a dick but the women there were cool. The problem is that if the owner doesn't let you hit on the chicks in the venue, it's probably not worth going.
I know tha BL and I hang out around town a fair bit, but I have to fully back up what he says here. I have been going to BBF, G+ etc for a couple o years now and have never encountered this. The crowd is generally pretty chilled (or drunk, especially the young 'uns who run out around 12. 30am) and the service is usually pretty straightforward sure some of the bar guys can be rather twat like).
I have met many girls at these places (just for fun, drinknig etc, sometimes for freebie fun) and I have never encountered anything like Jademd describes. Can't recall any white cell phones and we always pay the same for "Chivas" and green tea or for beer.

Bad luck or something else? I'll put it down to bad luck and a bit of a wind up somewhere by a couple of girls (Chinese girls do like to joke.)
Chaps. If the freebie scene is you cup of tea, or you just like some not too bad clubs with sometimes great, sometimes dire music (as with any club), these are the good ones and much fun can be had. And you can do it at these places without spending a fortune (hell, they have printed menus with prices.)
