As of 20/4 the spa near the Shin May Union Sq. Mall was open, very nice. I went to G18 yesterday 4/24 around 7pm. Place was closed, lights out, no door man. I walked in the lobby on 1st floor and seemed like they had completely shutdown as it was looking very drabby. Guess the crackdown rumors due to expo are true.
Anyone know if 999 is open?

Could get tougher starting Tuesday. The China government booked the top three floors of the hotel for a week, for high up officials to come see the Expo.

Just come back from a week's stay at Hilton in Shanghai with my Thai gf to escape Songran. Limited chances for mongering because of gf, but one night walked around to Shanghai Hotel sauna but was closed for "equipment check". All corridor lights outside lift were off as well, suspect closed for EXPO.
Opposite Hilton are a couple of girly bars with Chinese ladies inside selling expensive drinks ! Better was a massage shop next, with big pink sign. Had a 2 hour oil massage, no problem in getting HJ too. She didn't speak much English except for "special massage " to finish.
One night went to Manhattans, very busy in there after 10:45pm with mostly Viets / Flippers. After 1am, still lots of girls in there, or returning, but very few guys. Buyers market. Shanghai authorities added two days vacation for all Shanghai workers. April 30 and May 4. May 1/2/3 were already vacation days. Since last week, Shanghai has the benefit of a security check on main feeder roads. You can skip this by displaying your Expo "fasttrack" sticker, issued free at all police stations after examination of your vehicle and personal credentials!
I do not believe they can refuse entry to the city for non SH vehicles, the traffic flow would block immediately. Recently, at any sign of traffic build up, the Shanghai toll gates are thrown open!

City raises security bar - but clubs not targeted

Despite widespread rumors, Shanghai police yesterday reassured the city's resident and visiting night owls that legal bars and clubs were not facing mass closures or raids as part of a World Expo security initiative in the city.
However, officers said expats and tourists should carry valid IDs, such as passports, to fast-track planned police night patrol checks during the six months of the Expo.
"We are not going to check everyone," senior police officer Zhu Liang told Shanghai Daily yesterday. "We only check people we find acting suspiciously."
The Shanghai Public Security Bureau issued the nightlife clarification after a number of online expat community forums posted notices saying many more pubs and night clubs would be closed as authorities tightened security during the World Expo.
The Shelter, one of the city's most well-known bars in Changning District's Xinfu Road, was reported to be closed indefinitely over the weekend.
"We were told to close over safety concerns," Gary Wang, owner of The Shelter, said yesterday.
He was told it was an Expo issue and "we should be cooperative."
Officials with the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau said they were investigating illegal facilities as many pubs in the city were unlicensed.
Wang said he did not know the exact reason for the closure as all relevant paperwork was in order and the bar was not too noisy at night.
"We've been operating the bar for two years and I don't think that would be possible if we had been illegal," he said.
The closure of The Shelter has caused an online uproar.
"Why would they close the only venue that represents urban music and culture in Shanghai?" asked irate Netizen "milan j" on smartshanghai.com.
"Welcome to better city, boring life," said Netizen "enron666."
"We have beefed up the level and frequency of daily patrols but bars have not been specifically targeted in the operation," police officer Zhu said.
Not all bars in Changning were asked to close.
John Nguidjol, marketing director of the Anar, said it was business as usual for his venue during the Expo period "with no extra requirements."
"There were some checks at my venue but were all regular ones," Nguidjol said.
He said similar closures had happened during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Yuyintang, another popular bar featuring live music, was reportedly closed last week for being deigned too small to hold big shows after a sudden raid. However, the bar reopened on Tuesday.

The name of a registered guest will never appear on the Hotel Bill.
But in the case that you do an initial reservation/registration for two persons, then there is a probability that both names appearing as a booking reference.
The registration for guests apply for Service Hotel's appartments as well - as a requirement by law, but I never experienced a case in which it has been executed (in Shanghai).

Billy was in Shanghai April 26 to April 30 - due to increased hotel rates for Expo did not stay in normal 5 star hotel on Nanjing Lu but opted for 4 star right beside it.
Visited Manhattan every night - abundance of Viets and Pilipinos - quality VERY ordinary. Sorted the wheat from the chaff each night and took a girl back to hotel without a question each night - SH looked no different to me this visit as any previous visit.
Manhattan was wall to wall w.hores every night - went to Judys first night - 6 yo 8 w.hores there - Malones had 1 table of over weight Filipinos - did not stay for a drink in either.
Zapatas jam paxcked on ladies night (Wed night) - better to go there when weather bit warmer so civilians play outside and allow more room for w.hores and mongers to mingle inside.
Visited 3 differant places and all were open. Somewhat paranoia but nothing too bad. One on Wuning Lu had some very nice talent for 638rmb.

I know it is an imposition, but it is generally considered in poor taste to be a relative "newbie" on this or any other message board and ask such a "broad question". As a rule, the people that get the best responses are those who have shown an interest in the subject matter and taken their own time to research the material afforded them by this (or any other) message board and then having displayed that research by asking specific questions about the specific location that maybe wasn't covered in recent, easily available postings. The other option is to have shown that you are also a contributor in other areas and are exploring new, unfamiliar territory and would like some guidance by some of the local experts.
As you can see by the responses to your request you have fulfilled neither of these criteria. It is just a suggestion, but if I were in your predicament I would take some time to read this forum. You might be surprised to find that for good reason you may need to dig a little deeper than usual due to the sensitivities in place at this time. If, after you have done the above you can then ask for assistance if a manner that shows you understand the mores of the local customs. Of course showing your willingness to contribute a little by paying the fee to "join" might also help, but this is purely your option.

Hi folks
Our favourite (at least mine) is open again. But they play it low, means all the lights from outside are off. Even the groundfloor is dark. But in 5th floor it is everything as allways.
I had a lineup of 8 girls, at 23. 00h in today evening. Allways nice to see the curtain rise and smiling gils will apear in the fishbowl. I chose no. 2.

I have had the name of a girl who I registered to stay in my room appear on the hotel bill. If this is a problem for you, simply ask them to remove the name at check out. They will be happy to print you another bill. 10 seconds of embarrassment at the checkout counter can save you a lot of questions at home!

My way of thinking is that people can either ignore the questions or if they feel like helping they can also do that. It's an individual choice. I don't quite understand why people will waste the time and energy to write a post to criticize someone for asking questions, but that's just me. I guess it has something to do with the impersonal nature of the internet. I know I won't be wasting any more energy debating this subject but if anyone can help with any of my questions I would certainly appreciate it.I know the trip to the woodshed can be a long one.....been there, done that! My response was a slightly tongue-in-cheek attempt to gently suggest that your success rate might be higher with a different mode of operation. I was also continuing a bit a good natured banter with one of the more helpful senior members of the China/S.E. Asia boards. He has been very helpful in the past to many of us when we were newcomers. I agree with your assessment about not bothering if you don't like someone's post. Some of this is a bit of a right of passage if you will, while it will surely help insure your posts are not ignored. Of course I could be completely wrong about it all.
I hope you are able to find what you seek, and if you do, for goodness sake take the time to write a report and help out. Who knows you may find a gem that becomes popular with us all!!

This place is open and has been described in details several times before. I would add one tip in order to get the right services. When you get in, you will be let to a room and the manager will come into the room. She or he will chat with you for a few works and say "an pie an pie" in chinese means make arrangement for you to choose the girls. You say yes and you are on track.

I haven't found a particular outstanding provider at GG yet. Interestingly I've never received the girl standing in the door. She usually shows the room and then somebody else comes. The visual quality doesn't decline, therefore maybe it is just a kind of hidden rotation regulation
GG does also give legit massages and I've seen women in there getting foot massages.
I haven't been to the 3 Moon for a long time, because of the price.
I haven't been to any one of them since the Expo has started and I'm not sure about the subsequent influences.

Just back from three days in Shanghai and not sure what to make of it. In part it was probably due to where I was (although I had been at this hotel before and their in-house spa/massage was closed down on this trip. Shame, as it was always a sure thing even if a little too high) and tried to visit several places mentioned by the locals, but either my Chinese was too poor, or the taxi drivers did not want to go near some of them. The few I visited were either not open or not open to our hobby right now. I figure it is due to being so close to the opening of Expo.
I will be going back in the late fall, so I hope things improve. For now, I will stay in Beijing and enjoy the local sights and experiences.

I have posted here for awhile. My reports are usually less formal than some. If you have read some of my other posts, you will see I do post details. In post 2045, I gave the road the place was located on. If anyone was curious, they could have pm'd me and asked.
You however were about as vague as possible with exactly no one knowing what you were talking about. It was the same as posting nothing at all. When you get more time and reliable reports under your belt, perhaps you wont recd these comments from more proven senior members.
BTW, you were telling me to RTFF? thats kinda funny since I have put in quite alotta time in RTFF all over. Other Sr Members can certainly vouch for my reports but yours are still in question. Pls keep posting your adventures here but at least let us know alittle more detail.

Just went to Buckingham Palace (KTV, Xu Jiahui Road and Dapu Road) yesterday. Great selection of girls, tall, short, petite, busty, we actually took more than 8 rounds to select, but they just sit with you and sing. No hanky stuffs.
Not sure how much the drinks cost as my buddy paid for them. But the tips were expensive, 5 for mummy, 5 for girls and even 5 for DJ. They must be jacking up the prices because KTVs and bars are the only 'legit' form of entertainment at night now.

Gooday! I just arrive in shanghai for the expo. I think we (Aussie) have one of the best display and concept! Bravo, we are down under but up above in many things. I am staying in Le meridien at Nanjing walking st. (with wife)and wonder if they are places that I can go for a quickie. I saw a few massage places along the road behind (hankou) with some nice young thing. Please advise if anyone have try these places.

I was tired and tell her I will rest in the hotel and for some work and meeting but actually I was going out to try a few massage shops after no assistance from the members here. I started after lunch at 2pm till 9 pm spending total of rmb 1500 for 4 places. Here are a summary of few shops I try last week:.
1. Along Hankou Road
Visited 4 shops along this stretch starting from corner of Hebei/hankou, first is a Dongyin (meaning japan), the oil massage is good and very professional. Ask for HJ but was rejected they do not offer such a services I think partly due to Expo and bosses told not to offer such services.
The second shop along Hankou Road is AoKe which is quite small so didn't do it.
Third, there is a JB Massage, order a oil massage and it is well done and relaxing as well. The massage girl keep asking me where I stay and wanted to visit me in my room. The charges is around RMB 130 per hour on outcall charges. I am sure if you have the time and willing to spend a few hundred RMB you can score something. The 4 place is a shop just behind Charms hotel called JJ massage. This shop is well done with girls in nice uniforms and pretty. I order a oil for 388 an hour. You have to change to a disposal trouser for RMB 20 or a used one (free). The massuer was nice and massage was good, very soon time was up and I offer an extension of an hour. I ask for a HJ and was ask to pay additional xiaofei (up to you but I give 200RMB). At the end I spend near to a 1000 RMB for this massage!
2. Zhejiang Road. / Yanan Road (east ocean tower)
There is a massage centre for men in this building which offer a very good massage in a nice room (every room has its own bath etc like a hotel room) and the massage will be 60 mins plus another 30 mins on the dick therapy. You will enjoy very much on this new skills and make you dick strong and hard. Total cost RMB 388. I was totally satisfied and return to my hotel after 9 pm and did it with my wife. Still going strong!

1. Shanghai will welcome your dollars, but finding obscure places can be difficult, taxi drivers know little English. Maps may help but you should get a local phone sim card and find out the number of a translation service to help you. Always carry your hotel card, so if all else fails you can show that and get back.
2. Taxi's are licensed and metered, you should be ok, as long as you use taxi ranks or hail one down in the street. Some drivers will try it on (at the airports maybe), but it is quite rare now. If they muck about just get out and try another one. As a guide, Pudong Airport to west side town, should be about 150 to 200 Rmb.
3. Use advertisers at your own risk, generally, like everywhere in the world, they are full of ****, of course, whatever you do, do not go with the touts
4. ISG is blocked in China, you can get to it through proxy sites or VPN, best to sort out before you travel. Yahoo and google is ok.
Otherwise. Play safe, sorry cannot recommend places directly, guess who reads these posts. In the Massage and saunas, they will know what you want.

I'd suggest that you read more than "a little bit" as most of the answers are already right here and/or in the other China threads.
1. How easy to find the right place - depends on your definition of easy, but should not be a problem if you RTFF.
2. Taxi are all metered and used OK. They'll sometimes go "round-about" but as cheap as taxis are in Shanghai, shouldn't cost you more than an extra few yuans. Generally safe in Shanghai - and again you would have found this out if you had bothered to RTFF more.
3. Craiglist and most other Internet "sites" are geared for the foreign newbie suckers - you'll want to RTFF the Beijing threads to get a feel as to how bad these web sites are. And if you will please RTFF, you'd know where to go to to get "girls home from bars." Please at least read 1010263 and 1007210
4. You generally need to use VPN/proxies to access these sites and even things like Google and Facebook - again please RTFF the "Living in China" and/or the "General Info" threads. Surprisingly though, we have been hearing reports here and other web sites just this week that a lot of web sites are no longer blocked in China. Don't know what that's all about. Please at least RTFF 919091
The point of me posting all the above instead of just telling you rudely to RTFF (which I KNOW I should actually) is that there are just too many of you newbies coming over to China - with very few willing to do any RTFF - and my bringing this up will hopefully encourage others to really do RTFF before coming up with these idiotic questions.

Update on hotel security.
I stay at the Hilton, as always, and register my Filipino gf with me when I check in, so no problems.
Came in on Monday night, and they have their regular security guys in place again, and the guy recognized us, just asked me for "our" room number.
Tuesday night, about 1:30 we were coming in the hotel. Same guy was there, and I saw a western guy was at the desk with a Chinese girl, from what I can see he was signing her in. (don't know what is involved. But they were friendly to him). The security guard just smiled at us, and said have a good night.
So apparently they will let you bring a girl up to the room after 11pm as the guy at the counter was.

I'm a visitor on this this thread and will do my homework before asking for advice. But I also see it from the other viewpoint. I'm mostly active on the Brasil forum. There, as here, there is so much to absorb. There are people who avoid saying anything to dumb queries. Or there's people who can be a bit rude. Or there's people who will occasionally answer occasional dumb questions when they have time and inclination.
Look at it like this. You are a frequent world traveller, a reasonably experienced monger, and like to seek out new places to visit. How do you decide where to go? One way is to have a look at the activity on a particular forum & thread. Many of them however, are a bit like closed clubs where everyone talks the local lingo in the assumption that every reader knows what they're talking about. So it mostly serves to help people who don't need much help. If we expect people to RTFFs we at least need to make the FFs readable.
Often when I answer a newbie it's cos I know it will take him several hours of searching just to get a feel of a place, and the availability of accessible information written in a manner understandable to a newcomer.
If the visitor has to do that with forums of even half a dozen different countries, simultaneously spending a several hours working out usable flights and other requirements, he will give up on the obscure ones. If the object is to keep novices away of course, that's fine.

PLEASE!!!! I am NOT an expert on Shanghai and certainly am NOT the godfather of China. Not even close!
Your idea about paying your subscription on ISG though, is a very good one - but I will NOT be able to give you any good advise on Shanghai, for I like I said - I don't know all that much about Shanghai. One guy you could/should PM to though would be Ace Gallant; AG is resident of Shanghai and always great to ISG guys needing a bit of a heads up etc in Shanghai.
There are also other great Shanghai experts on our boards - and you could/should also PM them - so, like I said, go ahead and pay the $19.95 to Jackson; it's peanuts compared to what you can get in return for full membership.

For some reason the Chinese threads attract way more than their share of what can be perceived as dumb newbie / non RTFF / LE trolling posts.
SEAJ and Billy and many others get way sick of these posts and it is difficult to ignore them. In my case most notably are the fake posts regarding Maria's services in the Beijing thread.
We all log onto China Forum on a daily basis seeking new / updated info and it is most annoying to try to wade through the posts seeking info only from poster's with 1 to not many posts and have never contributed anything to any forum in ISG - these guys are usually treated with contempt.
IMHO any senior member who is a valuable contributor in other ISG forum is warmly welcomed by experienced China mongers - sharing is caring. Recently another guy who mostly posts in the Brazil Forum posted his intention to visit Beijing - some senior BJ members arranged a meet and greet and a great time was had by all.
I myself know if I receive PM's from guys with a handfuklll of posts asking for info I usually ignore them - but if I receive a PM from a Senior Member with a good track record of providing useful info on ISG then he will get all the help I can offer.
Keep up the good work guys - the world of mongering in China aint easy right now - crack down in SH and BJ making life difficult - now is the time ALL senior members help our brothers out by continuing the flow of info both on the main and by PM.

Hi gang, Just a heads up but Heting Elite was closed tonight. Found it with no trouble from the various reports here (construction has subsided in that area) and walked right into an empty lobby. No door guy, no elevator guy. Stepped into the elevator, pushed 3 and scared the crap out of two girls sitting at the counter when I emerged! They fetched Mr. Bob who gave me a story about "closed for repairs, call tomorrow. " He handed me a nice jet-black card and apologized. Too bad I waited until my last night this trip to sample Heting.

Billy is an avid reader of both SEAJ's and Christepherd's posts - both you guys are seasoned experienced valuable contributors to ISG - please do not take each other the wrong way.
For some reason the Chinese threads attract way more than their share of what can be perceived as dumb newbie / non RTFF / LE trolling posts.
SEAJ and Billy and many others get way sick of these posts and it is difficult to ignore them. In my case most notably are the fake posts regarding Maria's services in the Beijing thread.
We all log onto China Forum on a daily basis seeking new / updated info and it is most annoying to try to wade through the posts seeking info only from poster's with 1 to not many posts and have never contributed anything to any forum in ISG - these guys are usually treated with contempt.
IMHO any senior member who is a valuable contributor in other ISG forum is warmly welcomed by experienced China mongers - sharing is caring. Recently another guy who mostly posts in the Brazil Forum posted his intention to visit Beijing - some senior BJ members arranged a meet and greet and a great time was had by all.
I myself know if I receive PM's from guys with a handfuklll of posts asking for info I usually ignore them - but if I receive a PM from a Senior Member with a good track record of providing useful info on ISG then he will get all the help I can offer.
Keep up the good work guys - the world of mongering in China aint easy right now - crack down in SH and BJ making life difficult - now is the time ALL senior members help our brothers out by continuing the flow of info both on the main and by PM.Just an idea or two from a newbie who appreciates the contributors' inputs and has no desire to get caught up in the crossfire:
1. Is anyone experienced and public-spirited enough to do the excellent work that Sammy T did for Beijing, for Shanghai or other big towns? This could help well-intentioned newbies to avoid being RTFF'd.
2. Could there be a thread or threads for great town guides like Sammy's to make them easier to find? After a few weeks they get lost in the reports of distinction.

Our favourite (at least mine) is open again. But they play it low, means all the lights from outside are off. Even the groundfloor is dark. But in 5th floor it is everything as allways.
I had a lineup of 8 girls, at 23. 00h in today evening. Allways nice to see the curtain rise and smiling gils will apear in the fishbowl. I chose no. 2.

Back in Shanghai and it looks like most places still open fo biz. I spoke to some friends with contacts on the inside that say there will still be more crack downs because there have been a few cases of "lao wai" abusing the girls which then get reported to police and cause trouble for everyone. Stay cautious, and if you know of any of these lao wai, beat their asses cause they are really messing it up for the rest of us.

Went to G18 yesterday and all was back to normal (it was closed when I went 10 days back). Seems business was brisk as had to wait 15 mins before being taken to the fishbowl. The selection was a bit disappointing and it seems the regulars and the stars have retreated to their home towns (I know at least two who have done so). Picked no 53, 7/10: looks; 6/10: body. Made great use of her wired bra in pumping up her assets. And I picked her as she was the only one smiling.
Inside the room: Fairly mechanical, all the usual with decent skills but no real enthusiasm and playfulness. DFK not allowed, although she enjoyed DATY.
#10 also looked nice, will try her over the weekend and update the forum.

968 Sauna is located at – well, you guessed it – 968 Pudong Avenue. It's actually quite easy to find as it's immediately in front of the bar called "The Office". I've seen several write ups about people trying to figure out 'the game' with the girls at The Office bar. Well, the real game is thirty feet in front of the door at the venue clearly marked 968 Sauna Club.
Given that road construction has been underway for quite some time, and that Pudong Avenue has recently reopened straight through, there really hasn't been a lot of traffic in this area except from locals or those passing by on foot.
Inside the entrance there are usually a couple of guys who direct you to the staircase which takes you to the second floor. Check in your shoes, head to locker room, change and head to shower area, which is adequate, but nothing like Heting or Baoan. Attendants are marginally helpful, and definitely not overbearing. Following shower you've got to work your back to the drying area for the pajamas.
Resting area is a little tired looking, and could use some remodeling, but it will do. It's kind of similar to the resting area at the Merrylin Hotel across from the Intercontinental.
They use a server system for the girls with the mamasan making the arrangements. She's worked there two years and is kind of cute in her own right, and probably late 20s or early 30s. She's probably a solid six, might even be worth a work out – but not sure if she does session work.
She brings in a girl and its up to you to say yes or no. I haven't had to say no yet. She usually picks sturdy girls with a little meat on them – as opposed to spinners, which might be available, though I've not gone in that direction. Interestingly, I've always had girls with adequate racks.
Head to room where they have a bed, bathroom area with sink, and a shower that's pretty large. Strangely though, there is no toilet, but if you got to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) there's always the shower. (Kind of like a desperation [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) at Mango Massage or Tulip Massage in Bangkok.)
They do lock the door, which is helpful. Session runs about 70 minutes, but I've never had a clock watcher at 968. You can go with the menu and have the normal routine with cat bath and all the rest, or you can launch into a game of Tiger (as in get on the floor with that wet Tiger pussy sauna girl and let me throw the meat to you.) Bottom line is that most of the girls here have been kind of fun. No real stunners, no big time fancy décor. In many ways it feels a little like the old B2 World Plaza before B2 became run down.
Following the session you can go to the shower with girl for a soap-down rub-down mutual wash off, which is a nice way to wind down.
Following session, back to the rest area where mamasan usually comes in and checks on service level. Or, alternately, you could head over to the larger more open rest area (where she usually hangs out with her lap top) to report problems, if any encountered.
In summary 968 Sauna is an average neighborhood place that gets the job done. It's in a part of town where there aren't too many other choices. For those people staying at the Eton Hotel or Novotel, the "Tiger Options" fall off quickly if you're only looking at the row of massage parlors behind the Eaton Hotel, where you will be hard pressed to negotiate full service even if you BYOC (Bring Your Own Condom) though it can be done. If you're a Chinese speaker and want to negotiate at one of those massage shops, girls who will go full service generally demand 700RMB, which is not worth it IMHO. (Big time rush and most doors don't lock.)
Instead, perhaps a more interesting option is to walk to The Office bar, hang out a little, and watch the entrance to 968 Sauna to see if anything interesting shows up for work!
Price for a session at 968 is 650RMB.
There you have it a post on the Shanghai board with Expo in full swing.

Suggestion to Admin - clean up the thread of endless dumb questions AND endless RTFF posts. One has to scroll quite a long way back to get anything else.
I'm a visitor on this this thread and will do my homework before asking for advice. But I also see it from the other viewpoint. I'm mostly active on the Brasil forum. There, as here, there is so much to absorb. There are people who avoid saying anything to dumb queries. Or there's people who can be a bit rude. Or there's people who will occasionally answer occasional dumb questions when they have time and inclination.
Look at it like this. You are a frequent world traveller, a reasonably experienced monger, and like to seek out new places to visit. How do you decide where to go? One way is to have a look at the activity on a particular forum & thread. Many of them however, are a bit like closed clubs where everyone talks the local lingo in the assumption that every reader knows what they're talking about. So it mostly serves to help people who don't need much help. If we expect people to RTFFs we at least need to make the FFs readable.
Often when I answer a newbie it's cos I know it will take him several hours of searching just to get a feel of a place, and the availability of accessible information written in a manner understandable to a newcomer.
If the visitor has to do that with forums of even half a dozen different countries, simultaneously spending a several hours working out usable flights and other requirements, he will give up on the obscure ones. If the object is to keep novices away of course, that's fine.

This goes along with a high level of interest to show a good nice picture to the outside world. Our hobby is not included in this view. So we keep a low profile for good reason. And any newbie asking excuse the wording stupid questions could be LE.
And on this I had to go through 20 pages, when I first arrived here I read hundreds of pages and learned a lot. Later I discovered the search function, great for specific questions. And everyone asking, I am in Shanghai first time where are the girls, just does not deserve an answer. I never asked soemthing like that still took a long time until I got answers to some questions.

I'm a long time SH resident and senior member here on ISG, and I will openly say I agree with you. I'm not at all offended by your post because you are simply saying what is starkly obviously true. Well said sir.
For some constructive help, I recommend you use the search function (which can be very helpful), and also check out AG's forum -- he eliminates wankers there. There is a lot of good info here, just clouded with a ton of totally useless (e.g. "RTFF"), redundant (though this is often without any ill-will but is highly prevalent on the SH forum), and self-serving crap. Note that I'm also saying there's a lot of GOOD info here -- so no need to shun the entire forum.

Agree with Bonzo and Asianatic, I am following several mongering forums on Shanghai (in different languages !) and noticed that the ISG Shanghai forum is quite 'agressive' to newbies or 'general' questions. Of course it is annoying when the same questions pop up again and again or very general ones like 'I will be in Shanghai on XXX, staying in XXXhotel, could you give me some advice etc..). Such questions show indeed unpreparedness or laziness and bother most members. When I started to follow this very informative forum (credit where it is due) I did quiet some back reading. Since I lived in Shanghai some 15 years ago, when things looked very different from todays' cosmopolitan atmosphere (!), I was interested how the mongering scene developed over time. Funny enough back then I did not monger, nor had my little spy-eye open for such places of ill repute :-). But now - older, sadder and wiser - is different. So I learned valuable things for this forum and hope to contribute in time as well. I do not wish to offend anyone, but also hope the general tone of conversation could be more brother-like and show respect to others. In the end we all share the same interest.

JonI have often mentioned these sorry asses ruining it for everyone else. Hopefully, someone takes a cleaver to them before PSB gets involved and doomed it for everyone else.
To newbies, what ever info is given out now, it might not be current and up to date because of LE. Many places have been shutdown because of the Expo. Very few places are left for mongering. It's also extremely dangerous. It's not safe now. LE is also known to monitor this forum and other forums. Next, whatever info is given, is read by hundreds of people. The great Fire Wall of China is opened.
Look at Beijing for the last month. Many BBS, saunas and KTV are closed. Every single week things change so fast.
Just like when the Canton Fair starts in Southern China, the same thing happens. All these newbie asking for info and then disappearing when the Fair is over. They ruin things and disappear when it is over.
Suggest using the search forum first....then PM. Don't expect to get any replies if you are not a senior with creditability or someone that is not referred.

Let me say that if the newbies RTFF indeed they are referred to the usual locations.
On the other hand, novelties get in too and RTFF helps in finding a new locations, freshly reported.
If the locations are always the same and repeated, fair enough, it means that it will not need too much time to RTFF.,
Either way, RTFF is a learning proces and one will find 80% of his answers replied, maybe even well elaborated than in one only report.
The fundamental issue that frustrates both those who ask questions and those who answer them is that a forum is not the ideal way to present information that most newbies are looking for. A forum has a conversational presentation that is great for discussing issues of the day but bad for sharing slowly changing data. Chronological organization buries things 20 pages back and there is no way do develop any kind of centralized consensus document.
It would be so much better to have a Wiki page for each destination and keep the forum for conversations. For an example see http://wikitravel.org/en/Shanghai.

It would be so much better to have a Wiki page for each destination and keep the forum for conversations. For an example see http://wikitravel.org/en/Shanghai.Never heard of the "report of dístiction" section. This is our China "wiki". When I was a newbie, I found all information in there. The normal section, I used for daily updates.

Agree with Bonzo and Asianatic, I am following several mongering forums on Shanghai (in different languages !) and noticed that the ISG Shanghai forum is quite 'agressive' to newbies or 'general' questions. Of course it is annoying when the same questions pop up again and again or very general ones like 'I will be in Shanghai on XXX, staying in XXXhotel, could you give me some advice etc..). Such questions show indeed unpreparedness or laziness and bother most members. When I started to follow this very informative forum (credit where it is due) I did quiet some back reading. Since I lived in Shanghai some 15 years ago, when things looked very different from todays' cosmopolitan atmosphere (!), I was interested how the mongering scene developed over time. Funny enough back then I did not monger, nor had my little spy-eye open for such places of ill repute :-). But now - older, sadder and wiser - is different. So I learned valuable things for this forum and hope to contribute in time as well. I do not wish to offend anyone, but also hope the general tone of conversation could be more brother-like and show respect to others. In the end we all share the same interest.

Hi guys!
Just registered in the forum. I have been living in shanghai for a year know, and just by chance found the forum. I have been participating in other forums in Europe, so, I perfectly know what it is like to have new members only asking and not contributing, but, something that from a personal point of view is the most important thing is not what is said but how it is said. I understand that senior members do not like newers, but the value of a forum is based on the information that can be shared between of all us. I think that it takes exactly the same time to write a polite mail, than a rude one, so, all my mails are based on respect and politeness to all the people of the forum.
I will post several experiences and places I have been lately, hoping that it will be of everyone's help! as i assume that this is what a newcomer must do as a start, to win the right to ask and be answered.
I have gone through quite some bit of the forum, and must say that it contains some very valuable information, and will start giving those locations a try.
Hope that I will be able to actively participate with some interesting info!

I have been several times at a MP next to the Renaissance hotel in Pudong, as it is very convenient, as my office is about 10min walk from there. First time I went there, I was in the office and needed a "brake" so went out walking to see if I found something, and saw this SPA, went in and asked for prices, oil massage 60min is almost 300RMB, it was my very first experience, so I had no idea, so, I said, why not, get in the room, and the mamasan tells me that special massage 100RMB. Room nice, with shower inside. My massage lady comes in, nothing special, I had no choice, I would say it was a 5, quite big for asian standards. Get a shower, and she gives me a type of pijama. Massage starts, it is OK, and then she starts massage near the ass, I start getting horny and and I start lifting my ass, so that she can have better access to everything. She tells me to turn around and asks for 300rmb for special, I tell her that 100rmb, we start discussing and end up with 200rmb (it was my first time, I now know it is expensive), and that she should take of her stockings and shirts, but, guess what, I can not touch nothing. HJ was nice, slow, and everytime I was going to explote, I told her to stop and she did stop, so she was not pushing time.
After massage had a shower and back to work, in a much more efficient way
I have repeated this place one more time, and had tthe same, could not choose, experiences was more or less as first time, but I would like to try new girls.

- Anyone who has NOT previously/only recently starts to post on the China boards.
My several definitions of an irritating newbie:
- Comes on here with an attitude that we all owe it to him to reply.
- And then throwing this old nonsense about how we’re all supposed to be sharing information - irregardless if he’s done so himself or not. We’ve all had experience with how some of these newbies would come on and practically take the tone as if he’s dealing with the wait staff.
- Start off the bat by telling us all what we should or should not do.
- Berate us when he doesn’t get the answer to what he’s asking… Pronto!! Yeah – right, his time is the only one valuable – and then coming on and stating something like – Yeah, the time you took to tell me to RTFF, you could/should have spent answering me instead.
- Don’t bother to do much/any RTFF (quite obvious most times) and asking stupid/easily answered by RTFF questions.
- (Guys – please feel free to – and do - add your own definition of the irritating newby!!)
On your assertion that “….they could have chosen not to write so extensively (for whatever reason)..” What, we’re supposed to give information to one and all even though he’s not done his part to share information. Why?? Why should we?? If we’re being paid to do so, then yes, but otherwise…..??!!
The unfortunate fact of the matter is that good mongering by foreigners in China is not as easily attainable as at other “sex destinations” for the Powers that be in China certainly do NOT want China to be known as a sex destination. Yes, this trade is rampant here – but it’s more as a necessity/inevitability and allowed/caters for the locals, NOT for the foreigner. This being so, we on the China boards ARE wary of sharing too much information as we highly suspect that the LE is monitoring our boards. When a place/provider gets too well publicized amongst foreigners, invariably something happens to it.
OK – what is my definition of a good newbie and one deserving of answers:
- Has paid Jackson the $19.95 subscription and would/could ask his question by PM’s to us.
- Has done his homework and RTFF, and only then coming on to ask sensible and adequately researched questions.
- Has a track record of posting up good and informative posts in the past.
- Do come back on to report his experiences here.
- Put up a post introducing himself first.

Prices vary a lot too, some gals are OK with RMB100 but most will refuse and go for RMB200 (note: I am talking about the 'SPAs', not the BBS variety). I also try get FS sometimes, but only succeeded once for. RMB400. Of course I knew this is way to much, but I just wanted to 'do' her on the spot (very tight) and did not have opportunity/time to go to other places known to offer FS. This was during my orientation period here in Shanghai, so I did not mind to much, but of course the risk of inflation exists. However IMO FS in a SPA/Massage place is not worth it: inflated price (because non-standard service), the lack of proper 'infrastructure' (large bed, often no mirrors), relative unskilled service levels (versus well trained sauna gals) and above all that it is usually not allowed in the place (so hush rush service). But it is nice to try once: while the gal is on the table she kept an eye on the door (forbidden fruit feeling). Best of all was after the act that she told me that the massage place was owned by a police officer! No kidding! This was on Weifang Lu near the river, forgot the nr.

I have a colombian girlfriend who is heading to Shanghai soon and she wants to know some names of discos/bars/clubs etc where she can go for work. She knows about Zapatas and Mexicanas but was hoping to hear of more places. Also if anyone can point me in the direction of cheap hotels/appts in the neighbourhood I would greatly appreciate it!

The small "Spa" near the bus stop is indeed owned by an ex policeman. However the place was raided two months ago, all girls taken off for "interview", one girl confessed. Joint stayed open but the girls say the "fine"was massive.
Same happened opposite Marriot Courtyard on Weifang, same day, place was shut down, owner locked up. Not sure of status.

I had good experience with Craigslist the other day.
First girl they sent was an old ugly auntie which I immediately sent back (without taxi money of course). Next girl wasn't that beautiful, but good body and very service minded. Even had some anal with her, however after long discussions.

Sorry I was not clear, at the end, she just slip down her stockings till more or less to her kness but left her undies on, and opened her t-shirt, not even taking off her bra, so, I could only touch her cheap poliester bra, noting else.
So at the very end, I paid 100RMB more for less. I have learnt from that, and only offer know 100RMB, it found it is not worth to pay more for nothing.

Yesterday afternoon, I had some free time, so I decided to go and try Sacrosa in Pudong, I was 100% convinced where it was, so, I did not write the address. When I enter to the building I was convinced it was located, I get in the elevator, and when it opens on the 5th floor, I am surprised, it is a Restaurant! At that moment you can not imagine how much I regret not haven taken the address with me (will never happen again), I thought, OK, it is in the area, so it will not be very complicated, I entered in almost every single building next to Next Age, and found nothing, I wanted to give this sauna a try, and was decided to find it, but after almost 1hour looking around, and getting in many buildings I quite, and decide to go to Weifang. I decide to try Tequila in Weifang. These small MP always surprise me, from outside they seem small, but once inside, they are big and quite nice decorated. I take a 2h massage for 300RMB, but the mamasan does not mention nothing about special massage, and for a moment I think that due to the crack down they might not offer it.
The girl that is going to give me the massage seems to have just got up from a nap, would say she is a 6. No idea why, I never get the ones that are outside.
Massage starts and I was just waiting to see if there would be any indicator of a happy ending, when she starts with me legs I think, this will be the moment to see, and for my surprise she finishes the legs with no indication of happy ending (I get a little disappointed) she tells me to turn around, starts with my chest, and then to me legs, and finally tells asks the waited question. Do you want a massagy here, and I say, YES OF COURSE! Agrees for 100RMB but I can not touch her (OK, even if I pay more, I will not be able to touch her anyway). She does a lovely job, playing with every single part, I try to ask her for a prostatic massage, but yells, NO! So it is just superficial. She is working more or less 20min, delaying the final moment, I tell her several times to stop, becasue, I was just did not want it to end, but, after a while, I got to the point of no return.
After that, we still have approx 30min, and finishes doing my legs.
All in all, a quite good experience!
I have got Sacrosa pending! And next time, for sure, I will go with the address written down! Will not happen again!

As a “Regular Member” and only being able to indulge in my hobby once or twice a year, I have to agree with both SE Asian Joe and Levitian. In the 4 years I have been a paid up member, I do extensive research in the forum for a few weeks before I leave and develop an action plan. I haven’t made a lot of reports but I do report on my experiences, good and bad.
It comes down to manners, sure it might be quicker to just post a request for information but it is rude not to do the research yourself especially as it is so easy.

Having RTFF and seen the countless number of posts all going on about the same thing, asking people to read RTFF, I thought it would be a good idea to try and put some useful information in one post as it did take me long time to sift through the reports and get the required information.
It is all there, and the search function does help, it just takes time.
Hopefully this will therefore be useful.
A couple of points from the outset.
1 – I had no problem accessing ISG from my hotel.
2 – I took a girl back one night, getting to the hotel at about 1am. There was no need to register the girl. I just walked in holding her hand and went straight to the elevator. Whilst I cannot pretend to be experienced in Shanghai, the sex trade is an important part of the Chinese economy and hotel staff probably do not care. It may be different in lower end hotels, but I was in a 5 star hotel and had no problems.
3 – I only visited Heting Elite and a couple of bars, namely Malones and Manhattan although I have put some additional information in my report as I had done the research.
Sauna / Massage
Heting Elite – 3/F, 777 Si Ping Road – this place is awesome and whilst I have nothing to compare it to, the place was like walking into a 5 star hotel spa. Having tried this place, I am not that bothered about trying other places, although, no doubt, in time I will.
Golden 18 (G18) – corner of Nanjing Xi Lu and Wulumuqi Bei Lu
Yu Ping – 999 Tianyaoqiao Lu
Zhonglian – could not find address in the forum– perhaps someone would be kind enough to complete
World plaza. Could not find address in the forum– perhaps someone would be kind enough to complete
Sacrosa – 5/F, Hua Shan Tower, 1085 Pudou Road (S)
Tomson. Could not find address in the forum– perhaps someone would be kind enough to complete
Tianhao – 978 Gu Mei Lu
Shanghai Hotel sauna. Could not find address in the forum– perhaps someone would be kind enough to complete
Bars
Manhattan – 154 Nan Yang Road. Great bar, filled with plenty of girls. Was fortunate enough to meet an American in Malones (see later) who suggested that I don't choose a girl from Malones until I have at least been to Manhattan – I am glad he did and I followed his advice.
Ended up taking a nice Vietnamese girl back to my hotel for RMB 1000. Had a great time and carried on with another session in the morning. She left at about 6am which was great as it allowed me to get some sleep as I had a meeting later that day
Judy's. 99-3 Xi Kang Lu – did not go here so can't comment.
Malones. Tongren Lu – walking distance from Malones – was not that busy – saw a lovely girl, looked to be Chinese, arranged to meet her later for RMB 1000 overnight – was just hedging my bets in case Manhattan was not as described by my new found American friend – I need not have worried.
So, for all the newbies, there you have a list of places to get you started, but as the more senior guys say, there is no excuse or substitute for doing your own research. I did, so the information is there, just try not to be so lazy.
One final note to the moderators. There really is great deal of rubbish posts in the forum saying RTFF. It does make finding relevant information incredibly time consuming. It may be a good idea to tidy up the forum a little and delete some of the rubbish. By all means keep some of the posts saying RTFF, as it makes the point, but how many times do you need to say it.
I hope my last point does not offend anyone, as that is the last thing I would want to do, after all, it is down to you guys that I found the information in the first place and ended up having a great time in Shanghai.

Yesterday afternoon, I had some free time, so I decided to go and try Sacrosa in Pudong, I was 100% convinced where it was, so, I did not write the address. When I enter to the building I was convinced it was located, I get in the elevator, and when it opens on the 5th floor, I am surprised, it is a Restaurant! At that moment you can not imagine how much I regret not haven taken the address with me (will never happen again), I thought, OK, it is in the area, so it will not be very complicated, I entered in almost every single building next to Next Age, and found nothing, I wanted to give this sauna a try, and was decided to find it, but after almost 1hour looking around, and getting in many buildings I quite, and decide to go to Weifang. I decide to try Tequila in Weifang. These small MP always surprise me, from outside they seem small, but once inside, they are big and quite nice decorated. I take a 2h massage for 300RMB, but the mamasan does not mention nothing about special massage, and for a moment I think that due to the crack down they might not offer it.
The girl that is going to give me the massage seems to have just got up from a nap, would say she is a 6. No idea why, I never get the ones that are outside.
Massage starts and I was just waiting to see if there would be any indicator of a happy ending, when she starts with me legs I think, this will be the moment to see, and for my surprise she finishes the legs with no indication of happy ending (I get a little disappointed) she tells me to turn around, starts with my chest, and then to me legs, and finally tells asks the waited question. Do you want a massagy here, and I say, YES OF COURSE! Agrees for 100RMB but I can not touch her (OK, even if I pay more, I will not be able to touch her anyway). She does a lovely job, playing with every single part, I try to ask her for a prostatic massage, but yells, NO! So it is just superficial. In the hotel beside a coffee shop. 550 before dinner, 650 after. In 18 months found one dud. Have found fantastic lovers in that sauna. Some have worked in Heting.And how to find it has been described on this site about a dozen times. Just search, it is indeed a bit weird, the restaurant is on 4th floor. The guards used to press the right button for you in the Golden past. Heting and Sacrosa share (or shared) the same management, even though in the past Sacrosa girls were much better trained and more GFE, Heting had the better lookers. Unfortunately these times are gone, selection and GFE way down. Girls still beautiful but much more mechanical than before and all superstars are gone.

One final note to the moderators. There really is great deal of rubbish posts in the forum saying RTFF. It does make finding relevant information incredibly time consuming. It may be a good idea to tidy up the forum a little and delete some of the rubbish. By all means keep some of the posts saying RTFF, as it makes the point, but how many times do you need to say it.
I hope my last point does not offend anyone, as that is the last thing I would want to do, after all, it is down to you guys that I found the information in the first place and ended up having a great time in Shanghai.

I believe Tomson is closed permanently. World Plaza is now the home to a bunch of stores selling baby stuff. I think Yuping and 999 are two separate places. There is a sauna in 999 Tianyaoqiao Lu. The last report awhile ago seems to indicate that the place is going down- too many punters and management doesn't care about quality of service. I heard that old Yuping sauna has been moved but have never bothered to find out where. Cheers

Hmm, on the one hand free access to the forum from within China and the recent flow of info for newbies is recommendable - but on the other, doesn't anybody bother the risks of places being shutdown just because they are talked about to much and gather to much attention? that is a different thing than just bashing newbies just because they were reluctant to do their homework...
Just visited G18 and the place looked closed from outside (security guy with orange jacket sleeping next to the door). Waited some 30mins around the entrance, only one chinese guy walked in, came out 2mins later.
Decided to move to Sacrosa but when I got to the 5th floor some security guys were playing poker in the lobby and only one girl was behind the desk. A guy came to me, tried to say something but when I asked "closed today?" he confirmed "closed, sorry" and showed me out.
Didn't bother to try any other place and just hope this isn't permanent.
PS: I noticed the blue sign in the hotel elevator that police restricts access by "guests" to hotel rooms: a) they should register and b) leave before 23:00 - we'll see if they really enforce it.

Went to get a simple back massage with possible special ending which is not my normal forte and first time in Shanghai so did not know what to expect. Girls: Had a lineup of about 10 in the massage room. Generally very attractive. Some young (19-24), some older (25-29). Varying breast sizes including some with large breasts. Chose a hot and friendly 22 year-old with large firm breast and slender build.
Treatment: Began with 45 minutes of excellent traditional Chinese massage. This girl really knew her stuff. Then left the room for a minute and returned to remove her clothes. So, I pick up the phone and call the place. There was a lady answer the phone she told me that the place is closed for renovation. I asked how long it will close and she said she does not know. She ask me to call back tomorrow. I do not know what that means.

Maybe it is coincidence but with the experiences we had in Bejing during the Olympics and right now I doubt this. The more we talk and give the impression we do not understand the warnings by the authorities the more we will suffer. Most of our preferrred places were open a long time but not anymore. Maybe that convinces the majority that the current info scarcity is not bad will, but just the right thing to do.
Most seniors living in China do stay away from the hobby or the known places, maybe they know a little more than newcomers? I can understand the frustrations but better go home horny than get caught in a raid, just my huble opinion!

All saunas are closed at the same time. Renovations and plumbing problems come and go. The renovations can take a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

New to the forum and thought I might write some reports on the places I visited in this area (505 Wulumuqi Beilu) in my last trip 10 days ago
Shanghai Hotel Sauna
The day I came I went to the counter and they told me they only had foot massage till 8pm. Which was strange considering that I had been here before and had full service.
I came back at 8 anyway and after getting my back scrubbed (68 yuan) I was ushered to a waiting room. But instead of being asked to go the line-up, the mummy came in and asked if I came here before. When I said yes, she said that the police had came by earlier in the afternoon and so they are only allowing BJ and HJ and no FS for 550 yuan instead of 750. Since I was there anyway I accepted and was brought to a line-up of 6 girls – average of 6-7. Picked one and was led to the room.
I was then told by the girl that how it works now is that she can't take off her dress. She then started massaging (which wasn't great bcos obviously she isn't skilled in that area) and I told her forget it, just start on the BJ. I came here obviously because the Shanghai Sauna was really expensive at 550 without FS and it was not bad. I talked to the boss and apparently they had opened just 2 days ago. There are about 5 girls in there (ave of 7, ave age 21) and I was led into one of the rooms. I was offered two packages, 198 and 258 (HJ included) for 1 hour. The ambience of the place was pretty good: low lights, aromatherapy candles etc. It started with a massage which was decent and after a while flipped over for a HJ. The girl I had was pretty so I came in no time.
Considering it's cheaper than Shanghai Hotel I thought it was worth the deal.
For the rest of my trip, I walked around the area but many places were closed such as the one on 1426 Nanjing Xi Lu and G18. The only place still operating that I went was to Mingting near Yaohan in Pudong.
Hope when I come up next week more have opened in the Jingan area as I don't fancy going to Pudong just for a FS.

IMHO, I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a young and high rated girls. But a good and cheap place to get a highly agressive chicks to get you some action going on.

Xujiahui BBS report from an occasional contributor.
I was in the mood for some quick service and decided to try a BBS not far from the Sports Hotel on Nandan Road. The location is 225 meters west of Xuguangqi Memorial Gardens on Nandan Road., on the same side. It's at the end of a stretch of little shops on that block. Hard to miss. It poses as a semi-legit massage place on a busy street, but it's small, a bit shabby and not hard to figure out what it is. I had a somewhat poor experience there once before, with pushy attendants trying to up the ante after negotiations for one provider became a try to get me to pay for two. BTW, they don't speak English or at least pretend not to.
This time the service was better. The older manager took me upstairs to a row of booths with curtains and proceeded to give a mediocre back massage. After about five minutes of that, I flipped over and two fairly cute younger gals came in to push for the upcharge, which was a total of 300 RMB for the Mamasan to work my pole and the girls to kiss, shimmy, moan etc. That would have been a lot for just that, but I had them both lift their shirts and undo their bras, and both had really nice pairs of young, firm breasts just what I like. With a pair in each hand I had a lot of fun comparing and playing and of course, pop goes the weasel. So, basically, I got what I paid for some quick, interesting refreshment, a little more massage from the two young ones afterwards, and off for some dinner.
As for LE, the manager was a little cautious, locking the front door each time after anyone entered, but they didn't seem concerned that I might be LE since I am Laowai. Although I don't usually stay at the Sports Hotel when in Shanghai, I suspect that they get a good deal of business from their guests.

PS. FWIW, I don's see any difference in the service level from pre Expo to now I had no problems at the three nines in March nor any problem with in house at the large hotel near Shanghai Mansion Restaurant in Xujiahui.

Just a little sharing of my last couple trips to Shanghai during Expo. Went to a Sauna recommended by a Chinese friend as to have excellent services!. To my disappointment, and due to Expo crack downs, the service was indeed excellent, meaning a great massage, but nothing else. So for next trip I decided to visit a couple of the bars so much talked about in this forum. Malone's on a wed. Night, a few local talent, about 6's and 7's, a tall beauty though, but seems to much into the biz so decided to move to close by Manhattan. Wow quite a difference, the place was packed with talent, Philipino, Vietnam, and some Chinese. At the bar counter started rubbing arms with a petite beauty, turn out to be from Vietnam. Settled the deal and off we go, in taxi long french kissing and rubbing. At my place immediately hit the shower, and came back fresh and naked. Hi guys, just continuing with my sharing of bar experience in Shg. Went back to Manhattan on a Sat. night. Again plenty of foreign and local talent. Spotted a local goddess, but been around mongering in China I dismissed the idea of talking to her, since usually these talents are overpriced and under performers. The best and newest one is the Baoan Hotel sauna, (800 dongfang Road pudong)
The comfort and decore is way above all other places. The service is very good and waiting area is very pleasent.
We did not get a line to choose for, but the talent waiting in the rooms were

It was un rushed full service and worth the high price of Y900.
Recently spent a few nights in Shanghai, so here is my contribution to this worthy cause.
Having come recently from Macau, I felt less need of the sauna experience, and decided to taste the bar scene. Not too interested in paying for expensive girl bar drinks, after doing due diligence and RTFF extensively, I decided the area around Tongren was to my taste, especially Manhattan and Judy's.
First, directions. Lots of references to Tongren, but it took me a while to realize this is a name for a relatively small street. It runs north-south and intersects with Nanjing Rd west. Both bars, as well as others are very close to that intersection, so having a taxi drop you there is plausible - I found that taxis did understand me (with about three lines of Chinese under my belt) when I said I wanted to go to Nanjing Xi Lu and Tongren Lu. When you get there, looking south from the intersection, Judy's is visible in about a half block. Looking north from the intersection on Tongren, Malone's is about the same distance from the intersection. If you walk past Malone's from there, turn right at the next street (Nanyang Lu) Manhattan's is about 100 meters on the left on that block. There are a number of other bars in the area, but I didn't try them - some are obviously girly bars (i.e., the job of the girls is to get you to buy them drinks - whether take out of girls is possible is less clear to me). It is also possible to walk to this intersection from the Nanjing West metro station, which is a bit further up Nanjing Lu (west, I think, but confirm on your map).
First Malone's - a good place for a western meal if you're craving that, also lots of screens for viewing sports (gets crowded during a big event like the World Cup) and sometimes has a live band that is fairly decent (I think Filipino). Downstairs bar seemed to have some working girls looking to hook up, but it is mixed in with a lot of other activity (couples, groups just out for a good time). I got there about 9:30 on a Saturday evening during a big World Cup game, and the place was packed. Found a table upstairs for a meal, and enjoyed the band for a while after the game ended. Left around 10:30 and headed for Judy's, which was pretty empty; walked over to Manhattan's and found things about the same. So I decided to get a legit massage back near my hotel (Howard Johnson All Suites - about 5 minutes by taxi at night when traffic was low) and return later when the action was better. Massage was had at Maple/Phoenix spa - about a block west of the hotel. Highly recommended for entirely legit body or foot massages.
Returned to Manhattan's at 12:30, and could barely get in the door. Ratio of women to men was at least 3 to 1, maybe higher. Women seemed to mostly be Vietnamese or Filipinas. Some very nice looking ones indeed, and not the mixed scene you see at Malone's - just about everyone here was on the make. It was a bit daunting, frankly, since I would have to squeeze in to even find a spot to get a drink at. Stayed for a few minutes and decided to check out Judy's instead.
Walked over to Judy's... by the way, when you walk around this area at night, you will be offered streetwalker's up and down the street. I must have had 5 offers in the two block walk between Judy's and Manhattan. They would start at 400 or 500, but if you hesitated, the price came down. A number were willing to go for 200, including one who offered anal for that price (somehow that seemed a bit scary).
Avoided these temptations (some were, some were not tempting), and got to Judy's. The scene was quite lively there as well, but not as crowded as Manhattan's. Found a spot at the bar, and soon realized that there were quite a few lovely ladies here as well - a somewhat more mixed group of Vietnamese and Filipinas as well as some African women and others I not not where from mixed in. One interesting difference between Manhattan's and Judy's - at Judy's there are dancers who perform - behind the bar in groups of 1 to 3, and off to one side with a hanging rope routine. Both were pretty sexy and fun. There is also a large projector screen opposite the bar that shows sports or music videos.
Before long I found a Vietnamese woman to my liking and a slight nod and smile in her direction brought her sexy dancing over to me. The rest is usual stuff - after a drink together, we negotiated a price (she started at 1500, but we went for 1000 LT). Back to my hotel in a cab and had a very nice experience with May.
Next night I decided to do the same thing, but adjusting for time issues, I ended up at Manhattan's around 11:00, when the girls were starting to arrive. Forvthe next half hour, I and about 6 other guys had the bar to ourselves and about 20-30 girls, some really attractive ones at that. Wanted to take my time, as this was my last night in Shanghai and wanted to pick well. Spent some time drinking, meeting some other guys to chat, and enjoying the band (though not as good as the band at Malone's) and soon enough, the bar was pretty full again. Somehow, I didn;t see the thing that just caught my eye and said this is it, so I walked over to Judy's again. Same scene there as the previous evening, though May was nowhere to be seen. I found another girl soon enough,and we headed back to my hotel. She spoke little English, but it was enough; her friend wanted to come along and help translate, but I saw scam emerging there and offered to take the one or none. We went and all was well.
Some guys may not know that the girls here work for the bars - and will try to get you to buy them drinks for which they get some commission, but I did not find it the hard sell that you allegedly find in the girly bars. But they "work" there only in that sense - there is no barfining like you find in Thailand. The scene reminded me more of a higher class version of Thermae Cafe or Biergarten in Bangkok, where freelancers go to get picked up. It's much nicer in these bars, though, but otherwise the scene is similar.
Also, I went into the New Lucky Garden Sauna next to the Howard Johnson All Suites, but decided against trying it when I received a somewhat gruff reception. The fellow emerged when I came in and led me to a screen which he pulled uo an English menu on, which had a suggested routine valued at 900+ RMB. I wanted to ask a question, but his response was "No English" and turned and walked away. O.k., so he couldn't help me, but I wasn't in the mood to take my chances, so I walked out. Someone else posted here that it is a good sauna, thought the girl was somewhat inexperienced.

To answer some questions.
The ladies did not have numbers, you can ask for another if you do not like what you see, but no guarantee the next will be better.
We were 2 and both were happy with what we got.
It is a full service with the "fire-ice" treatment, last more then an hour without rush.
It is a real 5 star place, clean and Hi tech.
Rooms are nice but no red ropes or ball etc. Just and old fasion GFE treat.
Open from afternoon to late, some English but it was not nessesary.

At the Tong Mill there is a new Chinese club. Unfortunatly I don't know the name. But it is easy to find because there is only one. I like this kind of club, because nearly no foreigners so far. The have very beautiful staff and also nice dancers. A good place to warm up.
At one side of this club there is a row of nice girls. You can somehow book this girls. From time to time a bunch of girls is brought to some table and the guys at the table can choose some girl. Started at the Office about 8:00, as mentioned they have a good happy hour and I wound up getting a sandwhich also. The wait staff is cute and there were 3-4 girls in cute civilian clothes that I suspect were there to keep one drinking. I inquired about options, and was told that there are a few, but for the most part it is just drink, squeeze, and play pool. One or two of the girls are cute and they all seemed to have good personalities. I enjoyed talking to Selena, but turned her loosed when the number of clients exceeded the number of girls, so that she could do the "manager" thing.
Went back to Office and the band was going on break, but it was still pretty empty. I didn't try "Ricky's" or the massage place, but did go to Amor massage across the street from the Eton Hotel. So my conclusion was that the complex is good for some casual company, can get very expensive very fast, and is not likely to lead to a significant encounter. (I did not see any sign of independent ladies). Smarter, more qualified colleagues may find otherwise, of course.

It's not a simple massage joint. "968 Sauna Club" will lighten your wallet by about 650RMB but you will get what you want. Some of the girls there are quite good. The mamasan usually does a good job in setting things up. Some of the Chongqing girls there will fuck you until you can't walk. That area has a hotel nearby along with a large housing complex so business is steady with lots of local customers. But foreigners are welcomed. You can search the forum for 968 and you'll find a report I wrote. To be sure, it's no Sacrosa, Heting, or Sofitel (yes the Sofitel in Pudong has a Sauna on the right side of the building) but it gets the job done if you're in the area of The Office.

If I have read the forum correctly for the past couple of months, the Shanghai expo has led to a crackdown on saunas, including the Shanghai Hotel Sauna. Do you think this will continue well into August? I need to know as I have to make hotel arrangements. I wanted to partake of a nice girl at the sauna before my trip to Beijing and then on south. Any information would be very much appreciated.It is still open. Was there and it was business more or less as usual: There was only 6 in the lineup but the quality seemed very good. It was a little harder than usual to figure out the bodies of the girls as they were now dressed in some bulky sweatsuits rather than their earlier skimpy outfits, but overall I would rank 5 of them at 8, where I earlier would say the average was about 7, with one or two 9's thrown in earlier.
The service was significantly more rushed than earlier years. It was still good but the full cat bath and all that routine had been cut down drastically. The girl told me that there were frequent expo crackdowns and all people were nervous. Not only LE but also fire and other government entities inspection.
I would still come back for 650 but the mind-blowing experiences of the past are just that, a thing of the past until the crackdowns end.

After seeing some positive reports on the sauna 1856 Nanjing Xi Lu, I decided to give it a shot (or two shots hopefully). It's tucked behind the Shanghai No. 1 restaurant.
Given the expo period I was quite uncertain whether they'd still be open since they have been under "renovations". Walked into the drive-in to the carpark and an attendant came up to me. I asked if it was open and he said yes, and had a brief chat with him asking me where I was from and stuff, possibly checking me out in case. I asked if the crackdowns had hit them since the last time I popped into Shanghai Hotel they were only offering BJ and HJs but he said, no they're pretty safe.
He then ushered me into the lift and up I went to the 6th floor. Which was strange as some reports I read said that I was go to the 5th floor and then be ushered through some arcade and onto the the 6th floor.
Anyhoo, on the 6th floor, did the usual changing of clothes and went into a waiting room. Then the mamasan came in but instead of ushering me to a line-up she asked me a couple of questions like how come my Chinese was so good (I'm asian but Chinese isn't my forte), was this my first time here, oh you read it on the internet, do you know the process inside, do you know how much it is; obviously trying to make sure that I wasn't LE.

Search '1277' for a more complete report than I will write.
This place is busy, guys coming and going in the locker room, hallways and fishbowl viewing. I was shown right to the fishbowl and missed the sitting room before. Good variety and selection of gals. #985 and her big eyes was the one for me, 20 y/o from Sichuan. Service as to be expected with well trained gals for all services including the red rope BJ.

Try Loushanguan Road. It is the next subway station from ZhongShan Park. I stay around that area, and sometimes go to one of the BBS for HJ or BBBJ. As for take-out service, not too sure. You will have to negotiate for takeout.
Do note the BBS are located some distance apart from one another, so you may want to recce. The BBS I am referring to is on Loushanguan Rd, when you walk out from subway, walk towards the direction of Changning Rd. You will see a lot of eating places. WHen you come to a NanHua hotpot restaurant, you can see the BBS across the street.

Used to frequent a sauna on Pudong side. Remember vaguely that someone posted earlier. It is located behind JinJiang Sofitel in Pudong. Name is Dream Spa. Had a regular there some time back. She is from Inner Mongolia. Really GFE. I pick her up after work and we go back to my place for FUN on a regular basis. Didn't have to pay her when we have FUN at my place or hers. Having RTFF and seen the countless number of posts all going on about the same thing, asking people to read RTFF, I thought it would be a good idea to try and put some useful information in one post as it did take me long time to sift through the reports and get the required information.
It is all there, and the search function does help, it just takes time.
Hopefully this will therefore be useful.
A couple of points from the outset.
1 – I had no problem accessing ISG from my hotel.
2 – I took a girl back one night, getting to the hotel at about 1am. There was no need to register the girl. I just walked in holding her hand and went straight to the elevator. Whilst I cannot pretend to be experienced in Shanghai, the sex trade is an important part of the Chinese economy and hotel staff probably do not care. It may be different in lower end hotels, but I was in a 5 star hotel and had no problems.
3 – I only visited Heting Elite and a couple of bars, namely Malones and Manhattan although I have put some additional information in my report as I had done the research.

So, for all the newbies, there you have a list of places to get you started, but as the more senior guys say, there is no excuse or substitute for doing your own research. I did, so the information is there, just try not to be so lazy.
One final note to the moderators. There really is great deal of rubbish posts in the forum saying RTFF. It does make finding relevant information incredibly time consuming. It may be a good idea to tidy up the forum a little and delete some of the rubbish. By all means keep some of the posts saying RTFF, as it makes the point, but how many times do you need to say it.
I hope my last point does not offend anyone, as that is the last thing I would want to do, after all, it is down to you guys that I found the information in the first place and ended up having a great time in Shanghai.

Very nice place with normal preliminaries. Manager does not speak English except for 'make love massage'. He quoted 900 but I told him a friend told me 818 and he contemplated but agreed. He presented one gal and I turned her away, a few minutes later, there was a line up of 8 or so. I guess when they get someone new in the place, quote higher fee and no line up. No one struck me as obvious pick so I asked if any spoke English which I have never thought to do as usually my tongue is hanging out. He pointed two out to my surprise and I chose the cuter of the two and her English turned out to be minimal but more than welcomed.

Used to frequent a sauna on Pudong side. Remember vaguely that someone posted earlier. It is located behind JinJiang Sofitel in Pudong. Name is Dream Spa. Had a regular there some time back. Here's my field report from last night, first time in Shanghai ever. Great great city, but boy is it hot! I'm from Australia and still found it very hot.

So I am staying at the JC Mandarin, I actually didn't book, I rocked up in Shanghai and just found a hotel near the action. I was close to staying at the Portman Ritz Carlton, but it was just a touch out of my price range.
I started the evening at 9. 30 checking out the KTV at the JC Mandarin. Very stylish place but there were 5 girls and no customers. I felt very uncomfortable and left shortly afterwards. Girls were decent looking enough but I wanted to check out the places I intended to check out. Had read enough warnings about the KTVs so was very wary.
Got a taxi to the Big bamboo, played some pool with some people at the bar and had a few drinks. It's a decent sports bar full of expats but to tell you the truth nothing special. However I will say, unlike Western bars, there is no problem getting drinks as there are many girls walking around willing to take your drink orders.
Then went to Manhattans. On the short walk to Manhattans was approached by a girl on the street. She was what I would call a lower level girl, not ugly, just lacked Polish. I told her no thanks. Manhattans is quite nice inside, much much smaller than I had pictured. There were ladies there and quite a few guys. Quite a few older guys. It is just so obvious what everyone is there for. The building looked closed but you have to go round a corner to the lift and then Bar Rouge is on the 7th floor. There is no big flashing Bar Rouge sign outside the building (that I saw), it is quite a discrete club and entrance. Once you get out of the lift and go up the stairs into the club, then everything changes. It really is quite an amazing club. Undercover and open air section, the open air section looks right over the city and river, truly spectacular. Decor in the club is A1 and the house music was pretty good. Drinks not cheap but you expect that. Plenty of places to sit down or stand if you prefer. Now Bar Rouge has a proper aura for a nightclub unlike Manhattan so it's a bit like Vegas and Casino girls, you have to work to spot the working girls as there are many regular girls out with their friends. Some working girls are quite easy to spot, others a bit harder. They are all glamourous. It is really the top end of the market. Anyway I spent a few hours drinking, chatting with locals and having fun trying to spot the girls. I had read about high end Russians being at Bar Rouge and I'm sure there were some there but I had trouble spotting them. I got talking to these 3 glamour blondes who were from somewhere in Europe. They weren't working girls, had fun talking to them and if I was willing to put more effort in, I may have been able to work a freebie but I that wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted a certainty. Over the course of the night had quite a few asian (mix of Chinese, vietnamese etc) girls talk to me and subtley letting me know their availability and I did end up taking one home, 1100 for 3 hours. Not a bargain I know, but it suited me. FaI know, I know but at the time I was being lazy, didn't have much time for anything else and thought I'd give it a punt.
I used to use Peacock on Yuyao Lu when I was visiting Shanghai for it's value for money but given how close the tables are to the street I'm rather nervous about the LE activity to try it at the moment. Plus it's not the cleanest place in the world but they certainly know how to give an extremely happy ending.

I just got back from it, cheap place too. Time was around 11PM
Address is 219 Nujiang Road, near Jinshajiang Road. Take Line 2 to Zhongshan park and take bus 67 to Changfeng Park. Walk west 2 blocks and you'll see Nujiang road, make a left and keep walking. You'll see a bright light massage place next to a grocery store. If you guys google map this street and zoom all the way in, you'll see an icon called "Linglin, " the massage place is right next door.
Price is "158" for a "VIP massage, " but thats just to get you upstairs where regular patrons won't hear you screwing the shit out of a girl
