First off I would like to thank all posters in this forum. I have found some very useful information.

I am going to work in Shanghai for some time and wonder if and in that case were I can find good service levels like I’m used to in FKK clubs in Germany. I’m thinking about BBBJ and high possibility for DFK, but also the option to finish CIM. Are saunas like SH and World Plaza my best bet?
You won't find anything resembling a German FKK, but with respect to service you will be pleased. Find a good sauna you like, and become a regular. You will get more thorough and complete service than you ever experienced in an FKK, although the prospect of DFK is slim. Excellent massage, full body wash and body slide massage, BBBJ (sometime with CIM), and excellent covered fucking is standard. You can hit bars for takeout, and will learn to ferret out good service providers for LT at less than sauna costs, but it is hit and miss.

The most similar experience to an FKK will be KTV, with respect to having lots of eye candy to choose from.

But, nothing will be like an FKK. Different, but excellent in its own way.

For those unfamiliar with FKKs, a trip to Germany is well worth the time/expense.

First of all, I love FKK in Germany. I got hooked on it a few years ago and go every time I am in Europe. My favorite is OASE near Frankfurt.

I agree with Ebauche. The best chance you have for CIM is at a sauna. There are also a few low end BBBJCIM BBS in Shanghai where this service is available in small cubicles for 100-130 RMB.

I suppose that you could turn KTV into a semi-FKK experience in terms of multiple pops in the course of an evening, but it could get expensive. You could go to a KTV in a hotel and rent one hotel room for your action. Many of the hotels will have a special ST rate for KTV patrons. Pick out of a line-up, have a few drinks and then go to the room for the deed. You could repeat this as many times as you like. Although not guaranteed, the chance of DFK with KTV girls is higher than other alternatives.

Since I can only travel for 5-6 days from 25 Jan onwards which I understand is festival time. Are there any do’s and don’t for festival time? Any tips would be much appreciated.

Travel during CNY is a nightmare. There are masses of people everywhere you go and Beijing is one of most popular and thus, most crowded destinations. I suggest you get out of dodge and leave the country during this period. I do it every year.

I had the pleasure of visitng Oase last week, and the only bad thing was not being able to use the outdoor venues. Even with the reduced numbers of girls, it was extraordinary! I recommend you try Villa Vertigo if you ever get to the NW part of Germany. A really great locale, kind of a cross between a big (Oase) club and a small more intimate FKK.

Try Sacrosa in Pudong. The girls I've tried go for BBBJ and CIM with no problems. I think they also let you have two pops.

MatthiThis is probably one of the worst places to go for fun in Shanghai.

Along the Nanjing Rd you will be accosted by many male and female touts who will promise to get you beautiful girl, etc. MOnergs rule number 1: Do not go with touts.

You will be much better off to just take the subway from Nanjing to Pudong where you can find many BBS, Sauna, etc.

There is plenty of good info already posted if you do some homework and read the forum.

Although I've been actively reading the forum, it's been ages since I've last written a report. Mainly its because I've been mongering at the usual spots that have been mentioned and re-mentioned over and over again.

Last night, I revisited a sauna that was posted a long time ago. It's located on Nanjing West Road, on the same side as but 1 block west of Jingan Temple/City Plaza (jiu guang) Shopping Mall. So if you are coming out of city plaza, walk towards the right and go across the street (either via the underpass or the other side of the street). About half way down the block you will see a sign for massage, that leads into a driveway. (Note that there is actually 2 places, both with signs. The one I went to was the second one, so you will need to walk past the first sign). At the front of the driveway is a big restaurant. At the end of the driveway there will be an elevator on your left hand side. Take it up to the 5th floor.

It's probably been at least a year or more since I went there last. They renovated and now offers soapy in most of their rooms. In the room, the girl even shows you a standard menu (albeit in chinese) of all the different procedures she will perform, kind of like a checklist so they don't get lazy!
So pretty much everything you would get from other places, including red rope.

Selection was decent, more or less the same as the other places.

780 for soapy/ 700 for dry.

I was staying at the Hilton Visiting a person that had some childcare and ex-husband issues so I couldn't stay with her but here is what I wanted to say. She was not ID checked. Also, the first night at the Hilton I was alone and due to the jet lag I wondered down to the Lobby at 2AM lookign for something to eat and I found Girl she wanted $1000 RMB however I got her for $250 RMB after all there was nobody there. She wanted cab fare after we were done I said no way. She was not a spinner but was okay probably 6 in face, 6/7 body, and 6/7 in the bed. I don't remember my name but I was shocked to find a SW sitting in the lobby looking for business in the Hilton.

I do agree it is best stay away from Hotel chains unless you have to stay for business or frequent flyer points. I had a special Delta MQM Bonus deal so I stayed there for this time only.


The Hilton, respecting the rule of law, although that doesn't appear to be important in most aspects of Chinese policing, was correct in asking for her ID. They would simply log it in their system. From what I understand they report this data to the Police, since everyone has to register their whereabouts in China. For hotel stayers, they do it at check-in by passing over our passports. For long-term folks, they have to register with the police regularly, which is an annoying process.

For her, I'm sure the implications were that she would be put into the database associated with a hotel room of a foreigner as yourself. After a few times (with others), assuming the best of the Shanghai PD, there would be a knock at the hotel door and she'd get arrested. Because it is China, a couple hundred RMB would make this go away. I can't imagine you getting caught up, but it could be embarrassing none-the-less.

To Avoid this altogether, do not stay at a western-branded hotel. Make sure to stay clear of executive floors that involve a second layer of scrutiny (or a swipe of the card to get in). Although the Hilton is good for WG action (and close proximity to SH), it is also under more scrutiny then most. I'd suggest staying at a Jin Jiang hotel (research will reveal others). I've had good luck with them. From what I have experienced most have FS saunas. Many also have KTVs when you go 3 star. So, although you don't get the meat market that is Huashan Lu, you can get it in other ways. And likely cheaper.

As someone new to Shanghai, I have been reading the forum looking for information on happy ending massage places, particularly those that offer prostate massage, mostly out of curiosity. I've had the opportunity to try out a few places mentioned in the forum -- including one listed way back in the archives. Although I don't have much new to offer, I at least wanted to try and give something back in thanks to the other fine individuals who left information before me.

PEACOCK MASSAGE (孔雀养生馆）
Peacock Massage has been mentioned numerous times previously, and I had the opportunity to try out two of the four branches listed on their card. Their basic package (at both locations) is a 288 RMB, 90-minute "aromatherapy" oil massage with HE. Some notes on both locations: one recommended, one not so much.

PEACOCK MASSAGE: XUHUI BRANCH, No. 1449 Xieshi Road (徐汇店，斜士路1449号)
This is the one located near the Damuqiao Subway Station (大木桥站) on Line 5 (the loop line). About a 10 minute walk. Go north on Damuqiao Road (大木桥路), turn left at Xieshi Road (斜士路). Peacock is on the north side of the road, about mid-block to Xiaomuqiao Road (小木桥路), distinguished by none other than a flashing peacock.

This branch has received good reports from others in the forum, and I can't disagree. As already written, the front desk is on the main floor, and simply point at the menu asking for the 288 RMB option. (I believe the two-girl option is 388.) You are led downstairs to the massage rooms. I was put in one of a group of three single rooms, all of which share a shower. It seemed that the girls coordinated things so you don't run into another customer while you're in the shower, but it wasn't too busy while I was there.

As previously discussed, there are no "modesty shorts" given. Simply strip down, and the girl brings you to the shower room, towels you off, and asks you to lie down so they can work on your back. I had #36, who gave a very good massage, pleasant to talk to (I speak Chinese, so I'm not sure about her English). The first half is a good back massage, which turns into a massage that focuses on your ass and little brother. What I found interesting is when she sits on the table, and then puts your legs over hers, so that she has access to your whole lower body. It's quite exposed, but the massage is very pleasant. Eventually you are flipped over, there is more massage which leads to a happy ending. You can then wash up and go on your merry way.

None of this is new to the board, but a few comments:

1) Based on previous reports, I had expected that there would be some sort of prostate massage, which should involve inserting the finger into the rectum. This was not offered during the massage, but I get the feeling there are some different definitions of what comprises "prostate massage" by other commentators.
2) I was not hit up for any tip, and did see the red sign (in Chinese) that said that the girls may not ask for tips. But, since it is the new year, and I liked my masseuse, I gave her a good tip anyway.
3) I found the facilities to be quite nice, clean, and comfortable. Despite being freezing outside, the room was warm.
4) Would I repeat? Definitely. I know there are different opinions out there about going for massage / HJ versus sauna, but personally, I really enjoy having the option of going for a nice massage followed by HE. Just a different experience than going to the saunas.

PEACOCK MASSAGE: JING'AN BRANCH, No. 750 Shetiao Road, Second Floor (静安店，佘姚路750号二楼)
Since no prostate massage was offered by my masseuse at the Xuhui branch, I decided to try the Jing'an branch a few days later. It is on Shetiao Road (佘姚路) just west of Wuning South Road (武宁南路), about a 15 minute walk north of Jing'an Subway Station (静安地铁站) on Line 2. This one is marked by the same flashing peacock as the other branch, on the north side of the road not far from Wuning South Road. You climb a set of stairs, turn left, and enter into the main office. The same 288 RMB deal is offered here.

The same basic massage was offered, however I would not recommend this branch over the Xuhui location. I thought the room was much dirtier, and it was also drafty. There were big spots in the carpet and no shower in the room. The masseuse (No. 10) gave a decent massage, and was very friendly and talkative, but I felt that this took away somewhat from the mood - especially the giggling. Even more, towards the end, she asked me if I would give her a tip for the HE. This, as is my understanding, is part of the package. I had been planning on giving her a tip anyway, but didn't like being asked for one during the massage.

JINLIN YANGSHENGTANG MASSAGE (金林养生堂)
This place was mentioned way back in the archives as being a "men's health center" that offered prostate massage. It is in Jing'an District, about a 10 minute walk from the station, at No. 484 Xikang Road (静安区西康路484号), just south of the intersection with Kangding Road (康定路), on the east side of the road. You have to go up a few steps, and there is an English sign in red letters that say "Massage salon".

There is a whole menu of options, all with entertaining English translations. The hostess said that the 100-minute sexual health massage was the most "shufu" (comfortable), offered at 338. (My memory fails me a bit, but I believe this was the price, +/- 10 RMB.) The massage area is in the basement, nicely maintained and decorated. The masseuse (No. 12) led me to my room, and directed me to wash up in the in-room shower. Again, no need for modesty here, given what they are about to do to you.

Similar to Peacock, you lie down, and they start with a basic oil massage, and my masseuse did a very nice job. I particularly like it when the put the hot towel on your back, and the girl presses her knees into your lower back.. that get's the pressure out. Also, like Peacock, she puts you in this position where she is sitting on the table, and your legs are up in the air. You are flipped over, there's more massage, and then a long, drawn out massage leading to the HE.

One thing I found about Jinlin Massage is that the girl did a great job of bringing you close, and then backing down. It was really quite something. Also, while there was some penetration, it was not what I would consider true prostate massage. There is one prostate massage option on the menu for about 45 min at a cost of 200 RMB or less, so it might be interesting to try sometimes.

Overall comments:

1) Peacock @ Xuhui was really good, and cheaper, but overall I prefer the Jinlin Massage. It's more expensive, but the facilities were very nice, the massage was good, the girl very friendly, and overall a relaxing experience.

2) Discount cards are available at Jinlin. She said that if you buy a 1,000 RMB card, you get a 20% discount (or 80% of the original price). There's a bigger discount if you buy the 2,000 RMB card.

Firstly I have to say a big thank you to the guys that run this forum. Also many thanks to those that post their experiences. It makes coming to a new city such an easy experience for those of us that follow in their footsteps.

What a wonderful experience. From the scrub down, to the pedicure I tried it all. And finally when I thought I could take the anticipation no longer I got to meet the girls. I chose #29, an absolute stunner. Tall, and "big boned" she's not a skinny chinese girl but she's not at all fat. And with a mind boggling set of natural DD's she blew me away. In fact I just can't get her tit's out of my head. The massage was cursory, but the red rope was intriguing, and if I hadn't been so busy DATY then I would have been able to saviour her breasts more. I was in Shanghai and staying near the Jin'an temple. Instead of trekking down to the Shanghai Hotel sauna, I decided to revisit some of the BBS's on Kangding Lu near XiKang Lu. There are three BBS's on the north side of the street, and one or two on the south side. Like previous posters, I liked the two on the north and western side of the block.

I tried them three times over one week. It was 200 RMB a pop for me (Look Chinese and can speak Chinese). I would go inside, find a cute one, and take her upstairs. In the Northwestern most one, I met a girl from Sichuan who was almost literally bursting out at the top. Definitely larger breasts than normal and she had a good attitude. The other memorable one was a girl from Hunan who worked in the north central BBS. She'd worked overseas in Singapore for a few months, so was a pro at it. It definitely showed in her BBBJ. My impression was that although I only met her once, she'd be willing to meet outside of the BBS for some fun.

Next time I'm in Shanghai, I'll have to go back for some more. It's much less time consuming and less expensive than the typical sauna scene.

It looks like there are a lot of posts about Sacrosa, which looks too good to pass up. Until I make it over to Pudong for an afternoon, I’ll have to visit the Puxi Saunas.

The hotel is owned by the Jin Jiang group, which owns the Shanghai Hotel. I thought there might be a connection there with the Saunas. So, I headed in. Within seconds I was signed up for a ‘Special Massage. ’ Not to say that this is true of all Jin Jiang hotels, but if there is one around I’d bet that you could get a FS Sauna experience.

I took a shower, lounged for a bit in the hot tub. I was called in a few minutes, robed up, and heading to a room. I was very hopeful that the attendant lady was going to be my gal. She was tall and wore a thong, which I could see through her pants. Thongs, as it turns out, are rare in China. Don’t know why, but I rarely see them. If anybody knows why, I’d like to know.

The attendant dropped me in the room with a Sprite. The room was nice enough. Had two chase lounge chairs and a flat screen TV.combined the chairs made about a double bed. Went to Sacrosa on a Sunday afternoon. It was my first time there and after RTFF I was able to find good directions. I took the subway, which was easy enough. Just take the #2 line to Dongchang Road station. Use exit #4 which will deposit you on the corner of Pudong Road (S). Then walk down Pudong Road (S) for about 2 blocks. You'll See the Next Age Shopping center. You have to walk into the courtyard sort of place. As repeated many times the entrance between the UBC Coffee and the Steak King. It's not marked. Just go through the doors and take the elevator to the 5th floor. Another resource that helped was wikimapia.org If you zoom in on Pudong and click around, you'll find the Next Age Shopping Center and voila. You'll find the area. Wander enough and you’ll find it.

Decided to check out the sauna after a few nights here.

Called the sauna line and a young guy picked up, said it was 580rmb for a Western massage, I said that wouldn't do and hung up.

Later went down to the sauna, and initially asked for an oil massage for 260rmb, mamasan quickly put me in a room with a massage chair but without a shower. After some commotion (they probably could tell I am an American although I am an ABC), they quickly transferred me to a room with a shower.

The girl they sent me was a little chub, and I wasn't that interested so maintained with her that I just needed oil massage.

She said I could shower first and we could get down to business so she watched as I took a quick splash.

IMHO, for those fellow Members comfortable with going into "all- Chinese" neighbourhoods / places without speaking the language, negatives outnumber the positives: the place is a high-demand environment, and the girls know: high percentage of Customers not living is SH, hence low probability of becoming a regular customer to one particular girl. If someone does not come back,someone else will fill that gap. Service is adapted accordingly although keeping reasonable levels of consistency (this is China anyhow, and girls come and go frequently)

It is like buying your groceries in Wal-Mart vs. going to the neighbourhood shop: different service equation. If you're new in town, chances are that you will patronize W-M until you have discovered the little treasures in other parts of town.....

Long time lurker [3ish years], but never had anything to contribute. Now that I am visiting Shanghai I believe I can. I'll try to address all the questions I had after reading the forums and trying to get practical experience.

BBS's: When in Beijing I would walk around the HuTongs looking at the small barber shops and wonder if this was a hobby location; I have since learned that the BBS everyone is talking about typically has only one, if any, barber chairs and its clear that hair is never involved. Typically they will have purple or pink lights and at least one, but probably 3-5, girls sitting around in club attire. [Note that one BBS I visited that had poor heating the one girl was bundled up like anyone else walking on the street].

You really don't need any Mandarin abilities at all, you can get by with just walking in. Pointing to the girl you want and follow her. Sometimes one girl will get up as you enter and start walking you back, but don't let that worry you, simply smile and point to the beauty you desire. They may ask if you want a massage in Chinese but just use the "rubbing invisible shoulders in the air" as an affirmation. Depending on the BBS you will either pay the overseer or follow the girl into the back. I have been asking about the price after were are out of view of the front windows, the ranges I got initially quoted in Shanghai are 100 [every time there is major up-sell involved], 200, 300, 400, 500. It seems to me if you don't haggle at the start you are just asking for up-sell later on. Haggling is easy, simply write down the number you want to pay. Make sure you will get the services you want, I found simply pointing at the pertinent body part will work fine, as well as a circle motion for everything. At this point, in about half the BBS's, a second girl will come in and they will ask [or gesticulate] if you want two girls for twice the price. Beware, if the place doesn't usually offer full service you will find it hard to convince your girl of choice to acquiesce when her friend is present.

Your now probably in a dingy, poorly lit, room that doesn't look very clean. If your at forward thinking establishment the girl will now be putting a doctors examination paper on the bed/futon/floor. Point of note. Notice the floor, see how its shiny? That is because they spit/throw everything on the floor during the session, including spent condoms. To that end, do not put anything on the floor, watch your step, and god forbid you want doggy.

Once your done, your done. Dress, avoid the pools of. Liquid. Pay the nice lady [you didn't pay up front did you? ] and leave. So far in Shanghai I have not been able to get the phone number of any BBS girl, and when I attempt to invite them to my hotel they simply tell me to see them at the BBS tomorrow.

Some guesses from my first few days here, if the initial price is only 100. The place is HJ only.

If the initial price is 200-300 then the girl will genuinely perform well.

The harder the BBS is to find, the better the service.

The average age of your BBS WG is about 30. There are young girls out there, just look through the window and go with your gut. So far, I'd put the ages that I have seen as 20, 30, teen, teen, teen, 30, 30, 20, 30, 20.

Although I've been actively reading the forum, it's been ages since I've last written a report. Mainly its because I've been mongering at the usual spots that have been mentioned and re-mentioned over and over again.

Last night, I revisited a sauna that was posted a long time ago. It's located on Nanjing West Road, on the same side as but 1 block west of Jingan Temple/City Plaza (jiu guang) Shopping Mall. So if you are coming out of city plaza, walk towards the right and go across the street (either via the underpass or the other side of the street). About half way down the block you will see a sign for massage, that leads into a driveway. (Note that there is actually 2 places, both with signs. The one I went to was the second one, so you will need to walk past the first sign). At the front of the driveway is a big restaurant. At the end of the driveway there will be an elevator on your left hand side. Take it up to the 5th floor.

It's probably been at least a year or more since I went there last. They renovated and now offers soapy in most of their rooms. In the room, the girl even shows you a standard menu (albeit in chinese) of all the different procedures she will perform, kind of like a checklist so they don't get lazy!
So pretty much everything you would get from other places, including red rope.

Selection was decent, more or less the same as the other places.

780 for soapy/ 700 for dry.

My guess is that the card was in fact the list of services that are to be provided. There is no need to select any. It is not a menu. You are supposed to get them all.

I reckon that when the girl realized that you could not read the card, she elected to cut some of the services that use the beads and the rope. The beads may have been for AR and the ropes may have been for hanging from above for the "red ropes" service.

In order to make the most of a sauna experience, it is important to pretend at least that you are a sauna veteran and know the score. It can also help if you give the girl the impression that you know the management and are a regular customer. This is because there are usually severe penalties for poor service. That said, if the girl knows that you lack language skills, she may not be worried about complaints.

Sounds like she is just lazy. I have had girls in SH SN skipping on the rope. I don't care much for it so I didn't insist. The best thing is for you to either learn the word or have it written down (红绳 hong sheng). You should also make sure the girls take out the rope and fix it up on the bars BEFORE the session.

My guess is that the card was in fact the list of services that are to be provided. There is no need to select any. It is not a menu. You are supposed to get them all.

I reckon that when the girl realized that you could not read the card, she elected to cut some of the services that use the beads and the rope. The beads may have been for AR and the ropes may have been for hanging from above for the "red ropes" service.

In order to make the most of a sauna experience, it is important to pretend at least that you are a sauna veteran and know the score. It can also help if you give the girl the impression that you know the management and are a regular customer. This is because there are usually severe penalties for poor service. Sorry I don't have time for a length reply, but I was in the same predicament a few months ago.

You will not have access to this forum when you get to China. What I would advise, go through the last couple of months and copy the posts that are most relavent to you and put them in a word file. Copy as many as you can. Then, when you are on the plane, read through and sort out your options. Oh yeah, get a good map of Shanghai from Borders or good bookstore in Chicago airport.

I had good luck at JJ's, near Shanghai Hotel (up about 3 blocks north), 209 North Wulumuqi Rd. Near subway station, too. There are many other places. The other good place was discussed about 3 posts earlier than yours. (I loved number 936, saw her 3 times in one week! )

It is an ugly redish building just behind the Hilton and Equitorial as posted numerous times.

Ask for Wulumuqi Lu / Yanan Lu or Wulumuai Lu / Huashan Lu in a taxi.

And the SH Sauna is on the 2nd floor, but they have an odd numberin system for China.

The circuit is going to be a good hour or so.

The Shanghai Hotel is in the err. Shanghai Hotel. The Jinmao tower is about 10km away by road.

It is an ugly redish building just behind the Hilton and Equitorial as posted numerous times.

Ask for Wulumuqi Lu / Yanan Lu or Wulumuai Lu / Huashan Lu in a taxi.

And the SH Sauna is on the 2nd floor, but they have an odd numberin system for China.

The circuit is going to be a good hour or so.

I might also suggest there are other saunas that seem to rate better for service. The Shanghai Hotel is famous for red ropes and most people suggest it as a one time experience but most say it is a novelty they would probably not repeat. For my money I would try Sacrosa or World Plaza B2. Both can be searched on this thread.

Went looking for 'wei ge' near Honkou district north of the Bund. Am a newbie to Shanghai so am not too sure exactly how to describe where at.

Said I could get it a bit from a friend for 300rmb. Followed him to a KTV where automatic sitting down means the waiter will bring you a beer each, that's 40rmb a pop. Add on the room fee and a fruit plate which was 'gifted' with the room came to 2250rmb.

Papasan tried to takeoff a bunch of different times but I followed him to the hallway or whatever. Papasan left to find the bathroom, left to find the waiter, left to find the boss who'd sell us weed. Each time he was annoyed that I was onto the game. When the boss finally came he pulled me into another room asking how much 'da ma' I wanted.

When we went back to original room, papasan had taken off and stuck me with the bill for 2250rmb.

The KTV boss was an alright guy, explained a bit that I was tricked and just wanted his money, so I fronted it to him. Was too stressed out to even go for the 'da ma'.

It's a learning experience, I guess. Even though I RTFF, wasn't able to internalize all your guys' warning messages until now. I think mongering alone is really difficult and can be dangerous, especially for the newbs out there. If it were not for my 75% fluent Mandarin, I feel like I'd be sitting in a holding cell or a pitboss' basement by now.

Also was recently at Yu Ping 999 about a week ago and sampled the charms of #899. I was there around 5 PM and found the lineup of about 12 girls to be quite nice. No really stunners but no homely ones either. As always hit or miss, or maybe different tastes!

Not only that all pictures at website are real. This hotel is surprisingly the most convenient and comfortable hotel I ever had in Shanghai so in the future, I would actually stay here for business purpose.

My next trip to Shanghai would be more than 1 week. I would stay in this hotel and “test” all the massage girls one by one and tell you guys about all the girls and their special services (if any) and the price, etc (since they are all freelances, their services and fees can vary a lot).

So, just finished my week in Shanghai. Went to Sarcosa twice, Shanghai Sauna once and had and in room massage at the Shanghai Hotel.

Do not worry too much about lack of language skills in Shanghai. I was there in early November (see posts Perambulations of a Pensioner) and managed at least 1 shag a day. Often 2. That included

Two visits to Shanghai Hotel (zero language skills needed there). Just say 'full service' to the lady at the entrance of the sauna and everything else will follow. Spurred by someone's report on Tertiary style massage place, I went in search. After some confusion I eventually found it. Take the Line 2 to Loushanguan Road, get out and head NORTH. BEFORE you get to Changning Lu, you'll see this place on the right. It's open 24 hrs and the damage is RMB239 for the good stuff (the massage is called a "kidney massage" or something). What I find most annoying is the search engine of this site. You often see "RTFF" but this takes really too much time to find something sepcific.

Another option is to have 1 thread with 1 complete list of all known places: type - name - location - short remark.

if you're staying at the heart of luijiazui, trust me you've a few alternatives to craiglist within a 10' / 2 usd taxi ride. you need zero mandarin skills:

i)take a card with your hotel address from reception to be able to show to taxi driver when you come back.

ii) world plaza b2 (second basement). ask hotel concierge ro write for you in chinese "take me to the intersection of pudong nan lu and dong chang lu". the building you're looking for is a reddish octogonal granite building accross from where the taxi driver will drop you, to the right of gm's showroom and hqs. take escalators or elevator to b2.

ii) sacrosa: go first to nextage dept. store, very close to b2. any taxi driver will know:

nextage dept. store (ba bai ban): 501 zhang yan lu, near pu dong nan lu.

then , at the back of the dept store, there's a wide pedestrians-only alleyway. turn down that alley and bear left 50m until you see steak king on your right, and ramen noodle shop on your left.

Bathroom to the side of sauna area is spotless and quite nice.
Resting Rooms have individual lockers with the capacity to seat four people per room.

Massage Rooms: Very nice, new massage tables, individual lounge chair, and decorative wash basin and faucet. Recessed track lighting overhead.

Recommended Usage: Given the pricing, this sauna serves as an alternative to walking down the street to Manhattan for take out. Alternately, you could be drinking late at Malone's and not feel like taking a cab to another sauna. So, just walk across the street. Or, perhaps, you've got business in the area, grab a burger at Malone's, and, find yourself with a couple of hours to burn before your next meeting. Step across the street. It's all about convenience in a pricy neighborhood, which allows them to set the rate accordingly. Interesting business plan.


The New Happy Garden Sauna is a pricy alternative to many other places: 892 RMB for the complete package. This is largely attributable to two factors: First, it's been renovated to a very high quality standard, with décor rivaling a five star hotel. Second, it's in a high-rent district with the Portman Ritz Carlton only a block or so away, and the luxury-brand Plaza 66 just beyond that.

Entering the Sauna you'll descend a long winding staircase to the floor below where you'll find a friendly staff. The menu is posted on a flat screen computer terminal at the reception desk. An attendant explains the charges and pricing.

Then it's off to small four-person resting rooms with individual lockers, a flat screen on the wall, and comfortable chairs. A beverage of your choice is offered.

After changing, it's on to the shower area, which I've described above. Following the shower, a body Chinese-style body scrub is available (perhaps at an additional charge, though I'm not sure, as I declined the scrub).

Then it's on to the selection.

Note: during Chinese New Year I ventured across the street following a burger at Malone's just to check the place. During that time, they selected a girl who was waiting in the room when I arrived. She was a 7 on a hard grading scale, but gets a 10 for attitude and service (I don't recall the number). From this experience, I assumed they were a server-type set up. Again, at a pricy 892 RMB had to remind myself about convenience and pricy neighborhood.

Recently, I had time to consider 'convenience' again while I was in the area of the Portman Ritz Carlton. So I returned for another 'pricy' time filler.

This time however, I was led down a long corridor that was very nice. At the end was another reception desk. We turned right, and then left. Instead of being in a massage room, I was in a small selection room with one-way glass. Button pushed, and divider rises. And on the other side of the glass were five excellent choices. Maybe it was my lucky day, but they ranged form 7.5 – 9. A lady in yellow won the day (I think she was number 21). Very attractive indeed.

Off to the massage room, which, again, is described above,

The service included all the usual routine that's been written before, e.g., short massage, cat bath, bbbj, suit up, and go. What’s interesting though, was the kind of 'newness' of the service provider. Clearly she knew what she was doing, but it was also clear that she was not a seasoned pro (like, say 562 at Sacrosa who can really get it done. Quick note to Sacrosa fans: 562 told me that she has a sister that works there 552. Of course, it's hard to determine the accuracy of this, but she was quite clear about 'Mei Mei' being 552, and to ask for her if she (562) was not there.) Back to the lady in yellow. She really went at it with a special attention to detail, as if she wanted to get it right and provide excellent service. Accordingly, this is why she gets a 10 for attitude.

Following the session (I believe it was 75 minutes) it was back to the shower and from there the resting room to change clothes.

In my view, the New Happy Garden Sauna provides a high-end look and fell that fits with the neighborhood, as in, the Portman Ritz Carlton and Plaza 66. Clearly, they have set the price-point at a rate they think the the market can bear, given the alternatives in the area (e.g., negotiating for take out at Manhattan or another Tongren Lu bar, or a cab to another nearby venue such as SH or the sauna at 609 JiaZhou Lu, up past the URBN Hotel, which is located at 183 JiaZhou Lu).

At bottom though, it's an eye-opener to step up to the desk and put down 900 RMB and get back 8 in change. Yes, it’s a pricy alternative, and you know that going in, given the high-end neighborhood. The difficulty lies in trying to match the service level to the 892 RMB price tag. I had to keep reminding myself that the renovation costs money…and, again, convenience in an upscale area has a price.

Unfortunately, what you guys describe is a typical BBS experience. Their income is dependent on turnover. The more time they spend in the lineup and the less time in the room, the more potential for income.

I do a lot of BBS girls. I find that if you repeat a girl or become a regular patron at a certain shop, you will get better service. I also get better service in BBS run by mamasans rather than a papasans but most of the BBS I've been to in SH have papasans. I also find that you get better service if you take them out rather than do them onsite but I've noticed many BBS in Shanghai don't allow this or want a lot more money for it. However, if you can get them off their turf and negotiate directly with the girl for an "extra" tip for good service, you can usually slow them down a bit.

You can also try to agree on the amount of time but that is still not of guarantee of no rush. Basically, once you pop, the show is over.

Basically, I reckon the vast majority of BBS clientele are just looking to stick it in for a quick release which is a reinforcement factor.

I agree with you. Just as candy at the end of the aisle or fast food is tempting, I need more of a connection with the girl than a warm moist (or not) place to put it. So, I am going to swear off the BBSs (but don't hold me to it).

Visited the sauna at 999 Tanyaoqiao Road thanks to recommendations from the board.

Lots of the general details have been well reported by others so I won't repeat them here, other than to say the changing with a few (male) assistants didn't particularly bother me.

Once I got to the lineup here and the curtain slowly raised, I was blown away by the quality of the girls. Around 25 girls on offer, almost all at least 8 or better.

Reception Area: The beautifully appointed reception area rivals the reception at the Mandara Spa at Shanghai's J.W. Marriott Hotel. Spacious, with conceived lighting plan, the floor area has towering high-back club chairs reminiscent of the ones in the lobby restaurant at the Westin Hotel on the Bund. High-quality building materials are used throughout with a proper balance of textured surfaces. The reception desk is staffed by smartly-uniformed staff members that are well groomed.

Resting Area: Private, comfortable, and relaxing, the resting area has two lounge chairs per room. Lockers are controlled by magnetic key, and each locker has its own valuables safe inside where you can set the code. A flat panel TV is on the wall and a channel guide is available in the menu book, which is written in both Chinese and English. Monogrammed towels are located on the foot stools. Though I didn't try the food, I should be quite suitable given Bob's time spent at "M on the Bund".

Shower Area: Absolutely beautiful, immaculate, and very clean. A large dip pool anchors the center of the room with a large flat panel TV on the wall. To the right is a dry sauna, to the left are the showers, which are private. Each shower has a rain forest shower head and hand held spray unit. Shower gel and foam are both available. Lighting is interesting, as the section of the room near the showers have medium-blue skylight panels. The towel area is well-managed with attendants assisting only as required. Following a shower and towel off, shorts and monogram robe are offered. A nearby grooming area is available for drying and combing hair. Again, all the facilities are extremely clean and of the highest quality.

Selection Area: Moving through sliding panel Chinese doors, a short walk along thickly-carpeted hallways with drop-lighting brings you to the stage. This selection are has a real one-way mirror that looked to be 15 feet wide and 10 feet high. Very interesting and cool music was playing as the front opened. The inside staging are had five ladies, but this was understandable given the fact it's only been open a month (and it was about 2:00 in the afternoon). The staging area easily has space for 25-30 ladies, and I'm confidant in the not-to-distant future it will be packed with massage talent. Outfits were black with gold piping, short in length, with a semi-open cleavage front. All ladies look quite nice. I selected 120, who was just slightly larger than the others, who were very fit and trim.

Massage Rooms: There are two styles of massage room (which I learned at the end of my visit). One is a more traditionally appointed Chinese type (which I did not see). The other is more modern, similar to a Four Seasons Hotel room, though much smaller in size, with a step-up to a queen size massage bed. Overhead recessed track lighting gives the room a certain warm glow, while large mirrors provide convenient reflection from the side walls. There are no red rope bars or soapy area in the modern room. (I do not know if red rope or soapy is available in the Chinese type massage room.) A large heavy door secures the room. Of note, there is a piece of furniture at the end of the room that contains a music player and stainless steel Ice Bucket, with ice, of course.


Service: Number 120, from Dongbei, is new to Shanghai, having been here about two weeks. Service starts off in the nude with a very professional oil massage hitting all the right pressure points. Again, the massage itself was quite good, the oil was high-quality, and it was apparent that she has been trained. At the end of the massage, she placed a phone call. Within two minutes a service attendant delivered a tray of hot towels to the room which were applied to the upper and lower back. Massage complete, it was onto round two. Session started with ice from the bucket being rubbed on her nipples, followed by a titty rub on the bottom of my feet. She proceeded to move to the top with ear work, a cat bath, including arms, fingers, and hands, all with gentle suction. Legs followed, including gentle sucking action on the back of the knees, calf muscles, and Achilles tendon area. I was asked to assume the all-four position, as AR was offered, but I declined. Return to Shower and Resting Room: Because of it's efficient design, following the massage service you are guided back to the sauna shower area trough a different, yet shorter route. Sliding doors open into the shower are, this time, near the showers themselves, as opposed to the main entrance which faces the dip pool. Drop clothes, shower, dry off, re-robe, dry hair, and return to private locker room resting area. In the resting area very tasty desert was offered that was similar to semi-sweet tapioca. Locker room attendant spoke English and assisted only is requested, but was clearly available to help. As I finished changing clothes Bob returned to ask for feedback from the service offering, which I said was excellent. Bob walked me back to the reception where I paid the bill (600 RMB, as I had the 198 RMB discount coupon). Down the elevator we go and on to the street where they hailed a cab for me.

Conclusion: The Heting Elite Sauna is clearly the most well-appointed in Shanghai. Its emphasis on service quality is the best. The Heting's professional staff, drawn from five star hotels and restaurants, certainly understands service quality and delivery. Their aspiration to excellence in this market space is readily evident. Having envisioned high-end luxury spas as the foundation for its establishment, the Heting owners and management have built a high-class service offering that is unmatched in Shanghai. In fact, you could say that it's the Ferrari of Shanghai Saunas.

Hey guys... I'm wondering if you guys have seen or know of any Saunas/Spas that appear to be legit but aren't. In other words, all the places I've gone to are either legit and cater to men and women for facials, spas, footies, etc... or are just the typical guy saunas where everyone knows what's up.

I'm wondering if there's a spa type of atmosphere I can take a traveling companion that would separate men and women, women get a legit spa treatment, etc.. while the guys do what the guys do best without any inkling of impropriety?

As I live in Shanghai since half a year and never experienced the often mentioned 999 sauna I had to try this one last week.

Summarizing I must say I was quite disappointed. Sure, the premises are perfect and the choice of girls is huge (around 20 girls at 8pm), but in my case the service was quite poor inrelation the costs of 780 RMB.

Choosing the "right" girl already was difficult. As I had problems to decide the girls started to get bored by my attempts to identify "my" lady by contacting their eyes. Finally I chose no. 860, mainly because she was the only one smiling to me. Later I remembered that someone mentioned here that for the soapy the size of the boobs play an important role - too late.

860 is quite attractive, nice body beside the smaller boobs, but what she did was all very mechanical and there was no enthusiasm at all.

Soapy was ok (especially the view when I was on my back and she rubbed me moving her body on my belly opening and closing her legs...)

After washing, soapy and the catwash thing (nice to know but no need to repeat) she gave me some bj, but as everything was so much programm-controlled I did not feel something special. I knew that she would bring the things to a quick end - and that was what happened: once I penetrated her (sure - as nearly all of them - she was quite tight) I finished within seconds. She did not do any attempt to extend the "process" in order to let me really enjoy.

Been away a while, but back in town

Was visiting the Fen Shine market (or whatever they call it now) on Nanjing Lu. Remembered a while back I heard there was a spa there, so nosed around.
As you face the front of the building from outside in the street, go down the side of it on your left. There's an entrance halfway along on the right. Large sign for the Rainbow Room. No idea what that is. In the entrance, turn left, into lift and the Spa is on the 6th Floor. Fengdingyuan club.

Then, someone showed me the way to the 2nd floor and to a small "waiting room" where I sat for about 5 minutes. Some other men were there, also waiting their turns. All locals. 2.- The jacuzzi and the saunas are an amazing expirience to relax before having The Fun. Perfect heating temperature all around the complex.

3.- The service is very attemptive and they can understand English, Bob is really fluent and if you talk to him he will make sure to have another satisfied customer (from the other service do not expect much English insight, but they absolutely make sure to serve your needs, as Apple put it, they come from the high-end hospitality business and I can agree on that).

4.- The rooms are spacious, there is chill out music (if not just ask for it), and very well lighted with mirrors on the walls for more insight on what's going on ;)

I do not know the real name of this place. But have been there several times. And it has been reported on.

Entrance is 15meters to the right of Starbucks and Wagas at Maxdo Shopping Mall, Hongqiao. If you google "Wagas Maxdo", you'll get a Chinese address to Wagas facing Wagas from the street, this place is to your right, after crossing the underground parking entrance.

You enter, go down a couple of flights of stairs, follow the signs to the "Sanna" Club and there you are.

Hotel is not frequented by working girls, but saw a few professionals coming in and out. I guess they were phone-ins.

If the girl is insisting on a tip, just simply point at the red sign in the room (of course in Chinese) who clearly says that "no tips are allowed".
