Thanks.Not true at all. Prostitution in India has been legal since independence though the attached conditions are weird as hell. Not surprising as this is India. Running a brothel, pimp work and soliciting is illegal or engaging in the same in certain 'public places' is illegal. The public place definition is a bit confusing though you can read about it if you want.
The legislation which put restrictions on prostitution is The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 (Act / ITPA). This law penalizes certain acts related to prostitution. The important sections are discussed below.
Section-3 of the act prescribes a punishment for keeping a brothel or allowing premises to be used as a brothel. 'Brothel' has been defined in section 2 (a) of the act which states that it can be any house, room or place which is used for prostitution.
Section-4 of the act penelises any person who is living on the earnings of prostitution. This section does not even exclude the family members.
Section-5 of the act penalises the procuring, inducing or taking person for the sake of prostitution. This section targets the pimps, brothel owners and traffickers.
Section-6 of the act penalises the people who detains a sex worker in the brothel or any premises where prostitution is carried on. This section specifically targets the middle men and the brothel owners.
Section-7 of the act penalises the prostitution when it is carried out in or in the vicinity of public places. Public places include any densely populated area, hostel, public religious worship, educational institution, hospital, nursing home or any other place which is notified by Commissioner of police, Magistrate and the state government. Vicinity refers to as two hundred meters.
Section-8 of the act penalises the sex worker for seducing or soliciting a person for purpose of prostitution. According to this section a sex worker cannot do any gestures to invite someone for the purpose of prostitution.
As you can see, all these weird conditions make it really confusing and open to subjective interpretation by different people. Hence there is a lot of confusion. Most Indian laws are just stupid, no clarity and open to widely different interpretations.
So you can see prostitution has always been legal, but then why does LE create problem. Ofcourse simple, they exploit certain loopholes and fear of social stigma attached with this to mint money. Even the supreme court recently explicitly instructed police not to transgress the laws and arrest sex workers. But then this is India, laws are for the poor and middle class only. So nothing much will change on the ground as LE still realises that most people wouldn't want to risk getting caught in such a situation and go to the courts for justice which will take ages in India and not to mention the loss of face.

My two cents on the ongoing debate about SA vs other platforms vs SG vs Spa.
I personally am a paid subscriber of SA and it has worked wonders for me. So this is my first FR. Went to the Jadavpur branch of P Spa as I had some work at 8 be Bus Stand, and had little cash in my pocket. I have been reading the latest round of posts on the platform quite incredulously. Not necessarily because as a newbie poster I was intimidated by the discussion on SA, VFM, etc. ; but rather out of curiousity as to what it was that made me personally choose profiles of birds and what is the objective criteria I have utilised to shortlist profiles basis the sheer abundance of information out there on the interwebz. Thus, I thought maybe it was important to kind of pen my thoughts on this, and try to put some order in the chaos that is the mongering world:
1) Risk Appetite. Firstly, coming to the elephant in the room that seems to be the recent barrage of posts on this forum, I feel like risk appetite in terms of how much to shell out during a mongering experience is a highly personal experience. Money is a sensitive topic for most people, and therefore dictating what is VFM seems to be extremely subjective and is reliant on an intersection of many factors. Personally, I come from a humble lower middle class background, and I always seem to gravitate towards unearthing hidden gems on a budget. I feel like Kolkata as a playground for monngers offers that in extreme abundance. However that is not to say that higher classes of WGs are not VFM for the services they provide in terms of GFE, attention to detail, hygiene, etc. , but for me, having to shell out damage in 5-digits just to unearth a rare gem feels quite redundant. Because, it is quite simple in my head, one has to play in the mud to find a diamond, as I cannot simply afford a high end spend to this end just to unearth value. However, I completely understand if someone else approaches this from a different perspective. Carnal urge is extremely personal and extremely varied in kinks, so therefore, the purpose should be to ideally find a process that works for you, I. E. The individual monger.
2) The Resources. Having said that, every mongering journey comes from a place of aggregation of various options. Therefore, one thing that has surely helped me is being able to negotiate thoroughly WITH MYSELF and thus with all possible parties while reading and implementing an FR and damages. This enables me to talk with Johnny regarding whether all the risks associated with attaining the bird shall be worth it. If the answer for me inside is "Hell, Yes!" and Johnny agrees (which is always! Then and only then do I proceed to reach the bird according to the information on the forum. Otherwise, in all possible situations, even if that answer inside is "Maybe", I decide against it and look at other options. I think these boundaries have kept me sane through all carnal urges, and works for me.
Conclusion: The purpose of this post was simply to share a process that I follow in following my instincts in shortlisting a bird.
