Well as far as my experience goes the SG rate hikes has the background and below are the key factors.
1. The girls hiking the rates are not related to how they are getting business / or "inflation" but rather the rate hike happens due to the owners of those buildings hiking the room rent. For example when the price was INR 1600 in the "prime buildings" the room rents were 25K per month. With that going to 35K it was INR 2100. With 50-55K it was INR 2600 and now the room rents goes to 60K to 75K.
2. If you see the spending power in Kolkata has suddenly increased. There was a time when you would see only Maruthi, santro in a normal household. Today you see people riding premium cars even in these households. LOL. Overall the good old cheap Kolkata is no more to be seen. Keep in mind that the clientele in these premiere buildings are mostly people from the business class. The pockets are full and they are ready to pay the premium. Its them who are hiking the rates.
3. In most of the cases, there are group of 3-4 who goes for a dance. So they share the 3100 in between them and the pinch is less. Sometime for a group of 4-5 would call 2 girls in the same room and share 6200 in 4/5 parts. In this way they make it economical.
4. In case of repeat business / old customers the girls still sometimes charge the old rates. So if I visit a girl I know for long I still calculate on 2100 / Hr and she shows no intent to remind me of rate hike.

I am here with one of the experience in the premium building in SG. After that in taxi itself she started showing girl's photos from her mobile (All fakes, downloaded from website) and said charges are 6500. I said deal was for 1500! And I cannot go above that. Then she said okay we will get you girl accordingly, just pay here in taxi and then I will give call to a person and he will pick you up. I paid them accordingly and then asked me to wait near the building as well as they connected me to the so called house manager for my dressing so that they could recognize me. I waited for some 10 mins and nobody came down to pick me, I called her after every 2-3min that nobody is coming to pick up. She picked up few times and then she switched off the phone. I think this was collateral damage while mongering. But mostly I found MPS to be trustworthy although this one was exceptional. And hope you all do'nt fall into this kind of trap.
