Humor apart, you ought to experience the ambience of SG. It is a lot different from Bombay's Foras Road area (Kamathipura for the uninitiated) and better organized and managed. The CPM skills at organization may have something to do with that. You also know pretty much what to expect once you get to negotiating, though language is a barrier if one does not know at least a smattering of Bengali, even though some form of Hindi is spoken by the "madams". Hi, Here comes my first experience in City of Joy...

I landed on Thursday / 20th Nov and was totally occupied in daytime and Called up the contacts to come to Hotel room in night which they did not agree as it was quite late to arrange something at 8pm. Again tried my luck on Friday night, same thing repeated. On Saturday morning, called up the provider around 9am and fixed up the timing at come to hotel room at 11:00AM as I have planned site seeing in the evening. I specified clearly the girl requirement to the provider.

The girl and the provider's husband came around 12:00 near hotel as girl could not start from home as notice given was quite short. The provider is quite professional and kept me updating about the delay.

She was a Bengali girl and bit on heavier side by Indian standards ( Thin by Bengali standards). 5'6 height, dark complexion and very homely girl. The girl was non-pro and was educated and was a real GFE. When I asked The provider separately about the girl nature and how much time she will be there. to complement babaji’s post, i would like to write my own experience regarding sona gachhi (sg). i have frequented calcutta and sg for over 15 years now. as red light areas go, sg is noticeably better organized, cleaner and safer than similar areas in mumbai, delhi or any other metro. thanks to ongoing work by ngos, girls are better informed and relatively free of deseases. most get regular check-up, often provided for free by a roaming van.

word meaning
sona gachhi translates to the garden of gold. if you consider that in fijian language, sona means pussy (refer to urbandictionary.com ), then it is more aptly the garden of pussies. for me, pussy and gold are the same—they are both precious, require digging deeper and you can’t have enough of it.

how to reach?
the best way to reach sg is to take metro to shovabazar. walk, on the right hand side of the road, towards metro station girish park (sg is located between the two aforementioned stations). when you see a gas station (petrol pump) on the right, it is time to turn right into one of the streets. you can also take a cab—almost all cabbies know the area.

lay of the land
sg is a collection of buildings spread across five blocks wide and roughly seven blocks deep. rooms range from clean, ac-furnished well-lit rooms with toilets to dingy small rooms with little or no sun-light. you do not pay separately for the room though; it is part of the deal you negotiate with the girl. some times a girl will negotiate the deal in one room and will take you to another smaller room. but this is rare and you can ask in advance if this is her room.

what to expect?
as soon as you reach sg, someone will accost you, claiming to show you the place. don’t be bothered by it. these people are sort of pimps but not in the classic sense. they do not own girls but they get a 25% cut from what you pay to the girls. there is no way to pay the girls directly, san this cut. in other words, even if you do not pay attention to any of these fellows and choose a girl yourself, someone will still follow you and get their cut. so you may as well use them to your advantage. most of these pimps are either from the adjoining state of bihar or they are locals. like street dogs, their areas are demarcated. not all pimps will show you girls in all buildings. moreover, each entry point is allocated to a group of pimps, one of which will come to you (depending upon whose turn it is). if it is not your first visit, and you like a particular pimp from a previous visit, just tell his name. they all know each other and will get the pimp of your liking. in this case, they will split the 25% commission between them. the pimp that took you to a girl in the first place, gets the commission for all future repeat visits as well. in other words, the system is not memory-less.

the hierarchy of girls
the pricing is dependent upon the “freshness” factor—newer girls command higher prices, at least during the first few months of “introduction”. everything else being equal, punjabi girls and those from agra command the highest prices because of their fairer skin and beautiful faces. the bengali girls, with somewhat darker skin color but with beautiful eyes and gorgeous waving hair, are next in line. the napalis are the lowest in hierarchy. the level of service also follows a similar pappern, in my experience. punjabi girls in buildings like prem bandhan (bond of love), night lover, neel kamal (blue lotus), etc will treat you nicely (remember they are professional, not your gf). bengali girls may rush you a little or may, at times, have sharp language or rough edges. nepali girls, many found on street, may steal your money—service quality? forget about it.

pricing
most punjabi girls in buildings with ac will charge you 1200-1500 rupees for an hour plus 50-100 rupee for servant who keeps the rooms clean. there is no extra charge for rubber. bengali girls go for rupees 800-1200 plus the same servant charges for an hour. nepali girls and those on the street have variable prices. many of them take you to a temp room and hence are quick to get rid of you. expect rupee 200-500 in price and mediocre to poor service. the level of cleanliness will also be bad. please note that the worst of sg is still a mark above grant rd in delhi or kamathipura in bombay.

fancy a dance?
i love these beauties not just for love-making but also for dances. try sometimes one-hour dance session with your friends. price is the same 1500 rupees for multiple people, so you can split the cost. the session start slow and then the girl takes off the clothes gradually to finally a complete state of undress. it is a sight to see their boobs dance (depending upon how large/firm they are) to the tune of bollywood music. you can dance with them and touch any part of the body. pretty good deal, compared to the now closed bombay dance bars. i never understood the idiocy of throwing money at the dance bar girls for nothing.

nightly rates
the top end girls charge rupees 5000-8000 for the night (11:00pm to 8:00am). bengali girls and those with a room without ac, 2500-5000. i typically stay for night only with the girls that i have been impressed with during one-hour session. nightly rates are subject to more variation and hence more negotiation. the earlier your night begins, the higher the rate. the girls are not too particular about morning, but servants will wake you up because they want to clean the room.

what services are available?
quite limited, in fact. forget greek or bj—most girls will be offended if you asked. you can persuade for cowgirl and doggie, if the girl is comfortable with you. kissing is a rarity. of course, occasionally wild things do happen. but in general, these girls are pretty shy; even keeping the lights on is a struggle. the girls on the street are desperate and hence game for everything. negotiate, in advance.

how to negotiate?
not much negotiation is needed. i use the negotiation more to judge the attitude of the girls rather than bring down the price. i will typically have a small chat—what is your name, where are you from, how long have you been in sg, what are your rules (things that are a no-no), etc. i will also make my personal preferences clear—lights to remain on, no telephone calls on my watch, etc. if i feel she hiked the price thinking i am an outsider, i will tell a firm price and be willing to walk away from her. if you spent a lot of time haggling—both your and her mood will be spoiled. if the girl is new, her mamasan (mausi) will negotiate. there is no tip—no matter how good the service. don’t spoil this. if you like her a lot, pay her another visit. as a rule, the price you paid the first time will stick for future. interestingly, the price seem to be correlated more by building they are in, rather than their beauty. occasionally, you will come across a girl on the street that can make your heart miss a beat. unless you are a veteran of this trade, avoid street girls.

can the pimp be your friend?
remember, the pimp gets his 25% off the money you pay. so don’t expect him to negotiate the price down on your behalf. on the other hand, indicating your preferences clearly and telling him that you will be a return customer if he finds a quality girl to your spec is a good idea. over the years, i have tried to stay with just one or two pimps. i buy them a paan, or a desi bottle or give them 50 rupees. but most importantly, i tell them if i got bad service, we are no longer in business. as long as he vets a the girl for me (or honestly tells me about them) he has my business. that works pretty well. also remember, each pimp can only take you to only one set of buildings. so for different locale, you need to get different pimps.

booz, smoke and other needs
the servant for the room can bring you soda, booz, cigarette, chocolate for your girl or any other thing you fancy. just ask. of course, you have to pay the price he quotes you.

vocation and volunteers
i have found roughly two types of girls in sg. (i) girls whose mom and grandma also did this. these are professionals, no sob stories. this is what they dreamt of doing and they are happy to continue with the family tradition. they learn the trade from experts, can fake emotions, orgasm—you name it. This has gone terribly wrong. I called the provider on Wednesday to enhance the experience. Actually I have asked her to arrange good Bengali housewife for Thursday evening ST.

Was having breakfast at 10am and was working out to visit SG after check-out or before that. Spoke to hotel manager and he allowed me to retail the room till 5pm without any extra charges.

From what I've understood (haven't been to SG), each building in the area has multiple floors with each floor having many rooms. Most girls have their own room where you visit them and then do the deed in their room if you like. Most SG girls wouldn't want to leave their 'home' turf to visit you since they would then be losing the clients to follow that night.

Having said that, if you make up their opportunity cost, some might be willing to outcall with you.

Take a call taxi from any place and just ask him to take you to Sonagachhi. No need to feel uncomfortable as Kolkata is very much liberal in these matters. Its around 100 mtrs from Metro Station and there lots of buildings around that Petrol Bunk. You will find couple of Agents waiting there and will approach to you. Agents do not charge any money to you for showing around, so awail their services. PM me if you need help on that. Agents get money from girl.

Directions are spot on, though I screwed up getting off at Girish Park instead of the next stop on the subway. Walked quite a bit before I figured the directions out! LOL!

In any case, for first time travelers, here's the deal:

If getting off at Girish Park:
- Take the CR Avenue exit out of the subway (it should be one your left after you come through the turnstiles.
- Walk up to street level and make a right at the street (going North).
- Walk about 500 yds and you'll see a gas station (BP) - that's not the one pointed out on the forum. Keep walking
- Another 500 yds or a little more, you'll see another gas station (HP this time)...bingo...that's the famous one!
- You're still on the east side of the road, so cross over and enter the small lane south of the gas station (left when you're facing it).
- That's SG and the pimps will home onto you like greased lightning! Enjoy.

If getting off at Shova Bazaar:
- You're basically walking the other way (walking South) on CR Ave, and the HP gas station will be on your right.
- Take the lane right after the gas station and the GPS will kick in!!

Just landed this week start and guess what. At calcutta there is very heavy LE activity ongoing.

Well, this mongering is done by one of my close friend.

returned from kol today morning after a rather diss-appointing two days.

Since I’v visited Kolkata couple of times before’ not alone, every time with my associates. Kolkata is not a dry city at all, my associates arranged couple of programs through their own sources or some kind of pimps and my roll was as a participant only.

The arrangement is completely uncomfortable for any person. If they feel unsafe from a guest, it means their places are not a safe house at all. After reading and arming myself with information about SG, I finally went to the place 4 days back. Finding it was not difficult as is made easy by many of the fellow mongers. Still to just add one more direction, when you travel from Girish Park to Shova Bazaar keeping Girish Park on your left, cross the first fuel pump station and take a left turn around the second fuel pump station. It is on this turn that you will find the famous Prembandhan, Neelkamal, Night Lovers, Building No. 12, Kanchan, etc.

As soon as I got out of the taxi, a pimp got in touch with me. As was advised, I told him that I would like to see all around and would choose, only if I like. The pimp did not charge me any money. He patiently took me around to several buildings. They have an interesting way. They climb the building and make a funny sound “O, O” which sounds like calling pigeons. Then the girls will come out of their rooms. You can look at them. If you like you can talk with them and decide. Most of the girls were exceedingly good. I must say they were better than the ones in other such areas elsewhere and even better than the ones who become available through agents and advertisements.

To ad my 2 cents to Wandere writeup..

1) You can good service at any of good hotel you stay. Please ask bell boy for help. Be straight and they will get you at your room. It will cost some 20-50 USD extra for commission to bellboys.

2) You can ask any indian member with good ISG history to see SG area. You would love to see nude dance by Indian girl. You might have seen nude by hookers/russian in States, but Indian dance is different. Try to go in Day. I do not think you will have issue.

Let me give you confidence that this is one of the most organised Red light area in India where I never felt at risk and its the biggest in Asia. The quality you get at INR 1500 /2100 is unbleavable and I am really hooked to it whenever I visit Kolkata.

The place is not exactly in SG but must be around SG area. By mistake (though I consider it as luck) I crossed shyam bazaar crossing and went straight on the main road and got down almost the other end of the road. In Each building the prices slabs are ranging from 1000, 1500, 2100 and onwards.

PB, NL, #12, #146 , girls starts from 1500 and some are up for 2100. Only on top floors, 1/2 girls are charging more than 2100.

Use the trick that you paid one slab less once girl quotes her price. If she does not budge, then its almost sure that she is quoting correct price for herself.

Warning: This is a low cost low area. So, quality seekers avoid this.

Location: Near Lady Derfin Hospital. In details: Walk up the BB Ganguly St. from sealdah station (south section). The road after sealdah station is very dirty for sabji-bazar on both sides of the road. On the first crossing (with red lights) turn right (Raja Rammohan Sarani). On your right hand side you'll see Lady Derfin Hospital. Go straight through the left side of the road. You'll find a couple of flag poles (where they host flags on 15th Aug etc) on the footpath. Take the gali on your left adjacent to the flag poles. Walk 100 meters and the area starts. Walk further 30 meters and you'll be at the centre of the place. This plave is called Harkata Gali/ Prem Chand Boral St.

Description: There are three roads from the centre, as described above. Also there is a couple of temples and always two police men sitting there. They will do nothing. They are there to stop fighting etc. the three roads make a T joint. You have come (according to the description above) from east (now onwards called as east road) and that, crossing a temple at the centre, extends to west (to be called as west road). From that centre, another alley goes to the north (to be called as North road). there are tea stalls at the centre, where you can sit and have tea, without much bothering provided you look sure/ confident. all the girls available will sit/ roam around on the road - they come in different age, shape, size, religion, origin, dressing, cleanliness etc. It's better not to go to the north road. there are mostly reap offs. The west road is small - only one building - but there is a cute girl. I'll suggest to concentrate on the east road. There are many young girls at the far end (from where you entered).

Also say how many shots do you want. Expect only straight sex in missionary position. SOme do other positions. No anal, BBBJ. Very few do CBJ. They can ask upto 500 depending on the quality/ demand of the girl. Ask her to take to a clean room with fan. She will lead you to the room. If you don't like the room (don't expect too much), ask for a different room and insist. Have to pay (in 90% cases) before action. Bette to carry your own condi. However, they will also provide - at times Rs. 10 for one Delux Nirodh. If you want to stay overnight, expect to pay 300-500 plus 60 for room rent (not on hourly basis for night stay). Quality: I got extremely good girls, but they are rare. If you see one, strike the deal fast, else they will be picked up. Take your own time to select. I find it awkward to stand on the road and see them. I just buy a cup of tea or a cigarette, drink/ smike it in front of the shop (there are many shops) and watch them.

Timing: & am in the morning to 12 midnight. After 12, all the gates will be closed. Few buildings keep their doors open a bit longer if there is no police problem. However, no police issue till 12 - totally safe. Because you'll be doing it in front of them and they will under no conditions trouble you.

I happen to like the place for its easy accessability from my place. However, the quality puts me down.
