Why do you make it difficult for yourself? Just buy a single ticket with e. G. Garuda to Singapore, either on Internet or at an office. Make sure you select a ticket type where you get a refund if the ticket is cancelled, usually there will be a cancellation fee of 50USD. When you have got the ticket go and get your visa extension. When you have got the visa extension go back to Garuda and cancel the ticket and get the refund minus the fee.

Quite recently I just settled an overstay period of 14 months (yes, a year and 2 months) on a normal 30 day Visa-on-Arrival. Without any visa agents or anything I just headed to the airport with a ticket in hand and my bags. With some Bahasa I was able to negotiate with one of the immigration staff at the airport who later got a cut when he set me up with the senior immigration officer at the airport. Told them all I had was 20 million rupiah as I was in a coma during that entire time and had no work to do, which they pretended to believe and yes they took the money with both hands smiling. And don't worry, I wasn't blacklisted or anything. In fact, I was given a contact number should I have the same issue in the future and need them to 'help' me.

background wise, i barebacked probably about 7 times in various parts of indonesia.

only in this situation are you 'relieved' to hear that you have tested positive for chlamydia, and would have to revisit again to take the treatment (two mega horse pills you down with water on the spot in front of the consultant, and game over for chlamydia). infections like that at the time seem like nothing compared to the major one you worry about, which is hiv. however, the hiv waiting game was not over yet unfortunately. initial results showed negative, but there had been some uncertainty upon my first visit about dates of my last bareback exposure, so a second test was advised at a later date and had to be taken up in order to be fully content on this.
on my second visit for the chlamydia treatment, a different consultant advised to do throat swabs for gonnoreah. from this point on it was more waiting, changing shifts to make available appointment times, long car journeys and plenty of petrol money again. instead of an 'all clear' text, once again there was notification to call them, putting me on edge (but less than the first time). it was to notify me that gonnoreah had come back as positive, but with them not being 100% sure and seeking me to come again for a retest as there are factors which can throw up incorrect results. at the time though they also informed me that if it did come up positive, the treatment is an injection in a bum cheek. more shift changing, losing out on wage for some hours, more long car journeys, traffic jams and petrol costs.
on my third and final visit, i had more blood taken for my second hiv test (luckily no bruising unlike last time) a repeat throat swab for gonnoreah and another throat swab for chlamydia was advised even after the pills because apparently this can hide in the throat and escape detection. it all ended with an 'all clear' on both the hiv, gonnoreah and chlamydia. i consider myself very lucky, and unlike some others who take hiv negative results as "see, the risks are not as high as generally believed" and carry on as usual, this little episode changed me. during the waiting game on the hiv, yes there was concern about myself but for once it really hit me far harder that if the results were positive then the worst thing to live with would be the possibility that i may have sentenced some other girls not to a large but manageable "life alteration" as it would be in my part of the world, but to a death sentence in those parts of the world where the cocktail of medicines used may not be so available.

Overall as professional, respectful and positive an encounter as the situation allowed for, about what you would expect anywhere in the developed world for similar circumstances. No hint of a bribe or any corruption.
Of course with anything in life especially anything to do with officialdom in Indonesia YMMV.

I am disappointed in your comments of Paytaya. I plan to go to Bangkok and Pattaya right after Bali. I have been to Bangkok many times and was pretty satisfied with the Nana and Soi Cowboy scene and the Thai fishbowls. I have never made my way to Pattaya and decided to do it this time, you know, do it before I die thing.
Bali may not live up to your expectation. Read the forum. For me Angeles City is the best: hotels and girls are very cheap (no 1 hour stuff, ST is 3-4 hours, LT is overnight no matter what time you BF the girl. I have BFed girls at 3 PM and they stayed until next morning) , girls all speak English, most are GFE, all tested for STD every week, great bar scene with cheap booze, etc.

Thank you for your comments, but I disagree regarding Pattaya.
I have been travelling there for several years, and lately the ladies are worse.
Yes, many many ladies, and action a lot, but poor quality, bad attitude and prices increasing each year.
I agree with you regarding Angeles City about girls, but accommodation here is more expensive than in Pattaya where you can get a nice room for around 250 euros. That is quite difficult in Angeles (I would appreciate comments and suggestions regarding this point).
The range of restaurants is better in Pattaya than in AC.
Entertainment out of nightlife is almost nothing in AC, in Pattaya at least there are some options.
But I repeat, Pattaya from my point of view is game over. Sometimes I have felt rip off due the increasing of prices without any control at all, but the main point; hunting is not worth it there.

Filipino cuisine is nothing to brag about but I just walk 10 minutes to the super mall for cheap decent food.

I think all in all Bali people are very nice, others have posted that there are always groups of men standing around, and that's true too, and nobody really welcomes you or identifies themselves mostly because they don't pay attention or way to laid back. In korea you would be welcomed into a place and treated like a king. Well as long as you were Korean. Anyway I did my rounds at 1230am Wednesday night and I visited 11b 3b first since they were on the same street, which really was not good at all, the women were terrible old or overweight and also not interested. They told me good service but I just left, I walked by lots of places but I ended up going to 29 next and it had like 3 girls. I think because its a weekday and its late I missed out, lots of men on bikes asking if I want girls but I'd like to see what I'm getting. So that was the end of the first night.

I am puzzled by the apparent inconsistency in prices. 3-hour incall is US $150 and 3-hour outcall is US $200 (which seems expensive for only 3 hours) , however a night in the Bali villa plus a girl for 12 hours also costs $200, which is a more reasonable price considering what is included in the combo package (assuming the girl is acceptable).

I've never heard of this place, but it looks intriguing. Hopefully respected senior member Prof Designer or another Bali expert can give you the truth about this agency.
I am puzzled by the apparent inconsistency in prices. 3-hour incall is US $150 and 3-hour outcall is US $200 (which seems expensive for only 3 hours) , however a night in the Bali villa plus a girl for 12 hours also costs $200, which is a more reasonable price considering what is included in the combo package (assuming the girl is acceptable).
I'm also curious about what 12-hour period do you get to spend with the girl. Noon to Midnight? 6 pm to 6 am? 9 pm to 9 am?

I arrived in Bali two days ago but haven't got time to get away and monger. After 6 days in Angeles City, I wasn't in a hurry to get more. I hope to be able to get something tonight. Yesterday I did get a chance to roam around in the motorbike. Checked out Angel Salon and Mawar which are still there. However, the newly opened underpass has caused havoc. I was coming from Kerobokan on Jl Sunset and had a hell of a time trying to U-turn to Angel. When I finally got to it, I stopped by the roadside in front of the Chinese Dragon Reflexology, and I gazed the surroundings, baffled at the changes since the last time I was here in February 2013 and impressed at the newness and cleanliness of the new road and the Galeria complex on the other side of the road.
I suddenly dawned on me that everything in the area was new except the building block which Angel & Mawar are in. It looked so out of place and I fear that when I return next year, the building will be razed. What I am getting at is this: those of you who live in Bali and patronize Angel or Mawar, please keep abreast of the situation and if the building is razed, find out where Angel & Mawar will move to. I have never gone to Mawar, but Angel is the most convenient, least hassle place for me to pop. You know what you will get when you go there. At least for me the girls always had great attitude. No surprises.
BTW, I have never read a report on Mawar on ISG. Has anyone experienced it?

You can land in Denpasar and take brochures from many tour guides, and negotiate deals with them for tours and looking for the resorts that match what you want to do in Bali.
These guys know the island like the back of their hand. Just tell them what you want and they will take you around until you find the right places with the right deals. They usually know the good spots in Kuta Beach and the rest of the island.
I prefer Sanur to the crowd and noise of Kuta Beach, especially when most fishbowls are in Sanur, hehe. There are a few nice, clean, uniquely Balinese hotels in Sanur North of the Hyatt. One I like is the Villa Shanti, which is 2 dozens private bungalows along a Balinese garden with an open-air dining room on the beach, with nice, clean sheets and sparkling toilet, about $60 a night.
The art and trinket dealers along the beach road were all suggesting girls of all sorts of sizes and shapes hehe. The were many good-looking shop keepers. They were all kidding and flirting, so they are likely open to go to hotel for some sex. I rented a motorbike for $5 and was riding around Sanur. Found a young woman, fairly good-looking, standing on the major road near the main temple. She was crying her heart out. I stopped and asked her what the problem was. She said she's from java, working in Sanur. She just got news that her baby was sick at home and she felt so sad. Naturally I bought her a meal of the Bali roast pork, then took her back to the hotel to comfort her. She was better looking than most girls I have seen in the fishbowls. Sex with her was very good.
Along the North East shore, there are many smaller resorts, where a bungalow on the beach goes for $20 a day including 3 home-cooked meals of local sea foods and produce. The landscape is lush green tropical with lots of large Royal Poinciana trees with flaming red and orange blooms. You can most likely go fishing or diving with the locals as they do all their fishing right there near shore. These are nice places to kick back and relax, but you should arrange to bring your favorite girls from Sanur for company as local availability may be limited.
Most dive and snorkel sites are along the North East shore as far as I know. However, The water is murky and corals are in 10 to 15 feet deep water, so you won't see much snorkeling on the surface. You really need to wear dive equipment and get down to 15 feet to see any life. The young guys working the dive shops were telling me they would sleep with either men or women for some money. There are a lot of them hanging out at the boat launches.
A whole-day tour of Bali on a private van with a tour guide and interpreter only costed less than US$50, including lunch at the volcano, dinner show at night and visit to a few shows / temples and the Zoo at Ubud and a few trinket shops. It's a quick and cheap way to sample the food, dances, points of interests, scenery and do some shopping. The tour guide makes extra commission with everything you buy.
There is enough vacancies all over Bali, even in Kuta Beach. So instead of booking these resorts in advance, I prefer to land in Denpasar then engage the locals to find me the best deals for my preferences. Would be a nice adventure.

I am going to Bali for a week with the other half. I often stay in Sanur and use the X houses when I can get away. I fancy staying nearer Kuta for shopping, restaurants and more atmosphere. Are there any ST places other than Angels? Don't want to pay more than 300Rp and won't have time to hop from bar to bar. Also would need this to be in the daytime. Failing this would I be better staying in Sanur?

I believe in being helpful, any time I see someone asking questions about a place I have been to I will respond to them with answers because I have the experience to make it easier on them. They could spend hours reading the forum, or 2 minutes reading my response.
Is it really that big of a deal to respond to a question when you know the answers? I mean in general on ISG. Most of the time people respond with answers which is so helpful and nice of them, and why I love posting. But some people (not you) say to RTFF and are quite rude about it when in reality they could of just answered the question in 2 minutes.
Just my 2 cents.
At one point, I was put off by RTFF. Some people I am sure that they are being 100% arrogant and rude. I have come to understand that most people mean it in a constructive way. We're willing to help you, but first do some basic work so your questions will be more meaningful (?)
Take RTFF for what it is, first do your research, then ask.

My suggestion would be look on the internet, book a place for 1 or 2 days and then have a quick look for something better while there. There are so many new hotels throughout Bali now and they all are offering good deals. If you are lucky you will find a good driver who will be able to help you but keep in mind he will go back to the hotel after leaving you and ask for commission. You will have a good time so enjoy the hunt.

I would not recommend hopping into any taxis at any airports anywhere and ask for help, because these taxi drivers are usually rip off pros.
At Denpasar airport, there are usually a few dozens of brochures, flyers, business cards left by local tour guides. Pick out a few good ones and call up the guides asking them to find you the best resort hotels deals in the areas you want. They can drive you around to a few places to check out and help negotiate room deals for you. They will most likely extort the hotels for kickbacks later, but they will always get you better deals than foreigners can get anywhere for any types of resorts, including the 5-star resorts all over the island. The tour guides know the island intimately and have lots of connections.
If you arrive late at night, you may not be able to get hold of a guide. Therefore you should arrange for a room for 1 or 2 nights while making your arrangements.
I usually carry a cheap unlocked GSM phone (like the water-proof Samsung B2100) which will work in most countries in Asia, except Japan. I would buy a local SIM card at the airport and start calling my contacts.
I would rent a scooter and tour the island. It costed me $5 a day. Traffic is pretty light and slow. It's a wonderful way to explore this nice, clean, peaceful island with lots of personal freedom. Along the ways you will find many temples where local people, mostly women, gather to make food and flower for their worship. Balinese are very warm and friendly. You should come in to observe their rituals, dances and music. I just feel the music and dances at the temples are more authentic and artistic then the shows put up by the restaurants.
I was at the main temple in Sanur on a weekday. There were probably close to 1, 000 people, young and old, participating in the worship with a few truck loads of food, fruits and flower offerings, while various dance troops took turns with their arts. There were some very hot young girls hanging out in the hallways gossiping and flirting with the young guys.
There were some very good-looking shop keepers in Sanur who were always smiling sweetly and flirting. I was with a young girl from Surabaya, taking her shopping for clothes and shoes, so I did not try to hook up. Looked like those young girls were available and interested.

You can generally halve the first price the airport taxi drivers throw at you, especially if you look fresh off the plane.
I like the ones with the cockroach infested food offerings to the gods on the dash. Had my flight cancelled one night so after sitting around for an hour trying to sort things out. Caught a ride with a particularly persistent Driver that had been hanging around. Man I swear his whole dash was moving. Big ones, little ones. They were having a big party cockroach style. When I shot back in my seat in horror this fast thinking chap pulled out a can of bug spray.

I would not recommend hopping into any taxis at any airports anywhere and ask for help, because these taxi drivers are usually rip off pros.
At Denpasar airport, there are usually a few dozens of brochures, flyers, business cards left by local tour guides. Pick out a few good ones and call up the guides asking them to find you the best resort hotels deals in the areas you want. They can drive you around to a few places to check out and help negotiate room deals for you. They will most likely extort the hotels for kickbacks later, but they will always get you better deals than foreigners can get anywhere for any types of resorts, including the 5-star resorts all over the island. The tour guides know the island intimately and have lots of connections.
If you arrive late at night, you may not be able to get hold of a guide. Therefore you should arrange for a room for 1 or 2 nights while making your arrangements.
I usually carry a cheap unlocked GSM phone (like the water-proof Samsung B2100) which will work in most countries in Asia, except Japan..Again, thanks for the info. I'm arriving in Bali on Thursday for a 2 week stay. This time I've booked a hotel in Legian for the full period so won't be touring too far around but I'll look out for some tour guide info at the airport when I arrive and maybe make a few calls. Boy, after almost a week here in Bali, I finally was able to get away (from work. Better half not here) this afternoon. I was on a motorbike. Went first to 505 in Sanur. Got there around 3 PM. The pics of a few of the fish bowls look pretty run down. I took taxis to a few places, larger villas with nicely landscaped gardens. Some have rooms which are nice and clean. I prefer to take the girls back to my hotel.
Before 7 PM the selections at fishbowls are very poor. The pimps would call and bring in girls on motorbikes, but not much quality. For good selection, the fishbowls should be visited after 7PM. Seems like the girls have to do their housework, feeding their families etc... before they can go to "work." I could be wrong because most of the working girls come from other islands with no local families. Very few are local Balinese.
The island is so small that any local girls engaging in prostitution would be quickly known to all their relatives. Balinese live in very closely-knit communities that it's hard to hide any secrets. There is nothing to see diving or snorkeling in Sanur. The ocean bottom is sandy and barren down here.
Most dive shops are in Tulamben on North East coast. There are many hotels and resorts for divers in Tulamben, from $10 to $100 a night. Most are family run resorts. Some include 3 meals a day, depending on your negotiation. Look into the google map under Tulamben.
But Sanur offers all sorts of girls and the shop keepers are pretty and friendly. You may want to stay in Sanur for 1 or 2 nights to arrange for girls to take to Tulamben. I took a young girl from Surabaya for a couple nights. She was so shy and bashful. Her clothes were old and her jacket threadbare. I had to take the poor girl shopping for new clothes and shoes in Sanur.
1 place very clean, convenient and reasonable is the Vila Shanti on the main Beach front about half a klick North of Hyatt hotel Sanur. The bungalows are about $60 a night. There were a bunch of Swiss ladies having their annual convention there. The ladies swore Vila Shanti is the best deal in Sanur. The ladies also hire young boys overnight for hot sex and feed them breakfast at the beach front dining room.
You can talk to street vendors to find suitable girls. The manager at Vila Shanti can have some guys hook you up.
If I were you I would stay in Sanur full time and take a ride to Tulamben for diving in the morning. There are lots of sexy, interesting things to do in Sanur, but Tulamben is zip, of course unless you want to hang out with a bunch of divers and fat, ugly diving women.

For newer visitors of Sanur, like myself, attached is a jpg of the way I approached the area. I like rooms on premise, so I took Barri's map and personalized it with fishbowls (5 of 8 have short-term rooms) and the JL Danua Tempe bars. Notes I extracted from Barri's Google map as follows: (before 7 PM the selections at fishbowls are very poor) Nice summary, Tungurahua, though some fishbowl information seems to be a bit dated (e. G. All fishbowl prices are 200 kRP). The intention with the interactive Bali Monger Map was that members should keep updating it, but in this excerpt it seems that only Shuga has done so. Maybe because there has been problems with logging in: Google make obstacles.
I take it you made a screen copy of selected part of the map and then added your own writing. You know, you can print out selected part of the map with the placemarker information included. There is a link in the map to a post where this is described.
When I see the fishbowl descriptions listed like this I wonder if it is not time to refine the room rating components. The current one is form the first Absolute Sanur X map in 2009.

I was recently in Bali for a week. Found the fishbowls, but perhaps just by chance the girls at the time weren't my style so I left. I've heard from the locals there are great girls there though.
Found the so called fleapits. Fell in love with the place. Stayed there all night every night. A few pages down (in this forum) are very accurate maps. Use those to find this place. Tip: Taxis in Bali don't want to take you to an "area". They need a specific address. This will be weird to you if you've spent a lot of time in China, for example. The solution is just to look up a random bar in the area and have them take me there, then walk to wherever I was really going.
Fleapit 1, 2 and 3 are all walking distance from each other. Each one has 5-15 bars inside, gambling areas, rooms for sex, etc. Every girl is available. A few of them will refuse foreigners, don't be offended just move on. Each night I was there, I would find some random Bali guys to hang out with, drink and every 90 minutes or so I would have a go with a girl. Even with my foreigner skin, I had a lot of negotiating power (there are so many girls just standing around everywhere in there). Price depends on your ability to control it. The asking price is never the price. On my first night I was doing 300 and 400, but on the second night I had them down to 200. No tips. 200 (200, 000 rupiah) is a decent price. 300 would be fine also (meaning you're not getting significantly ripped off). Condom use is up to you.
