In town for a few days, decided to stay at the Shangri-La again. Downstairs is BATS, well known for being a target rich environment. I'm an out of towner, but had a few local mates with me who know the lay of the land, and clearly knew a few of the ladies.

I noticed a few people post here saying that there were no girls in BATS, but they must have been there too early. We got there around 6pm to have dinner and a few drinks, and as tends to happen a few drinks turned into a few more, and next thing you know we spent the whole night there.

So at 6pm, no, there was not a single girl there. A few guys trickled in to have a meal or a drink or to check to see if there were any girls, but there were none to be had. In fact, until about 10pm there was not really any girls there at all.

However, at about 10: 30pm, it was like somebody opened the flood gates and the place filled with heavenly beauties. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching them all come down the stairs, knowing that every single one of them was coming in with the sole purpose of trying to get themselves fucked in exchange for some hard earned cash.

Regarding the price, obviously everything is negotiable. Also I got the distinct impression that the price falls as the night goes on, which kind of makes sense. Think about it like one of the girls. They are there to make cash. They get themselves all dressed up, put on makeup, transport themselves to the venue.

So when they get there, they try to get as high a price as possible. As the night goes on and they don't get picked up, they start to think that a lower price is better than no price, and the price starts to fall. See the post from somebody here earlier who picked up a MILF for 500k.

I ended up selecting a lovely specimen who was a friend of a girl known to my mates. A real wildcat in bed, had a couple of rounds that night and then a morning glory to start the next day before escorting her into a taxi.

Money was never discussed in advance, I handed her a million in the morning which she never counted before stuffing it into her handbag as we headed downstairs.

All in all a very pleasant evening!

Just a quick call for help to ask how to go about booking a room at Hotel Melawai or Hotel Travel? I have tried searching on the internet and looking through previous posts in the Hotel section but have not come across any website addresses or telephone numbers. Can anyone please help?

Personally, I wouldn't stay at Hotel Melawaii. Not sure what your budget is, but to me it's kind of dingy. If I intending on staying there, I would just land in Jakarta and get my bags from carousel and then check with Indotel Hotel Reservations desk before leaving customs at the airport about rates and availability at Melawaii or different hotels. There is another desk just outside customs to the left as you leave, Kaha that might have better rates or different hotels. If for some reason, you like the deals better at Indotel inside near the carousels, the customs agents will usually allow you to go back inside. The only thing is that you'll have to pay in advance for the room. You might not have enough rupiah or will have to charge it if they allow it, which I'm pretty sure Indotel does. What I like about Kaha, is that you can pay for one or two nights, and then extend your stay later with them by going to one of their many offices or they come to your hotel and you pay them to extend. The real stupid thing is that the hotel will probably charge a higher rate, and most will not extend you at your current discounted rate from Indotel or Kaha even though they know you will go through them otherwise.

Because of the market and the busy road, this hotel is quite noisy.
You might try Hotel Losari (round the corner and across Blok M Mall) if you're not satisfied with Melawai. Their tel. No. is (+6221) 7265858Hotel Losari can be noisy as well. The rooms opposite of Plaza blok M (not blok M mall, that one is located beneath the busstation) get's the traffic noise from 05.00 am till 22.00 pm and the other rooms get noise in the evening from the karaoke joints.

The Amaris, is a nice budget hotel with no frills, the rooms are small and fairly basic but have cable tv and are clean and modern, worth checking out.

Rude.Rude, Griya Prapanca is located at Jl. Pangeran Antasari, around 4 kilometers away from Blok M. 1.8 million Rp. deal is for 6 days, not a week. I believe you will find this studio type offer fully booked all the time and the management will offer you 2 point something million Rp. for the same studio with newer furniture.

Awhile back I had a girl demand 1.5 million in the morning, but I told her that 1 million was already too much. As a white expat that doesn't speak much Indo, it didn't seem like I was going to get much lower.

To be honest, with the tanking rupiah, I really can't be bothered spending an hour trying to negotiate the girl down from $80 to $70 or $60 or whatever you think should be paid for an overnight stay. I suspect that I get a better service as a result as well.

I got the impression that the Blok M places have lower prices. Actually, not just the impression, I had intimate knowledge that they do :) but no time right now to write up another report.

Recently spent 6 days vacation in Jakarta and thought I would share my experiences. First off, the economy might be bad, but this worked to my advantage on this trip. 1 USD = 12, 000 rupiahs. Best exchange rate I have had in the last 3 years I have visited.

First 3 nights stayed at Shangri-La. Very tired first night (Sunday) from long flight, so sent sms to a girl I had been chatting with on Yahoo that I was pretty. We met at the hotel and then took taxi for nice dinner at Bebek Bali and then she agreed to come back to my room to relax since I told her I was very tired. Apparently I was not too tired for sex . We had a nice go at it, and then slept, and had one more round in the morning. Then I told her I had to leave to go to the office (Even though I am only there for vacation, I like to tell everyone I am there for business, because I am not good at making up stories on the spot).

Monday morning still jet lagged so I head over to Mitra Sehat (family massage parlor) in Plaza Semanggi for a regular massage. This place always gives a great massage. There are always plenty of cute girls who work here, but I don’t think they provide extras. I was not willing to ask because I enjoy coming here just for a great massage. Although many times the girls have been very nice and chatty and I would not be surprised if they would give you their number to meet later.

Monday night, feeling much better. SMS another girl I had chatted up on Yahoo. This girl is 26 has a good job and quite cute. They never counted. Only exception, my last night with repeat girl, gave her 700, 000 since it was my last night and I would not need the rupiahs anymore.

Anyway, I am already looking forward to my next visit in 3 or 4 months.

Not only do the Blok M places have lower prices, in many cases the girls that you see there are the same girls that you will see at BATS! They will start the evening at BATS at the Shangri-La Hotel, then if they don't hook up with a guy there, they will move on to Blok M later in the evening and (usually) lower their prices as the hours pass and they get more desperate.

If I may add on to the points of Mighty Spearman. Yes, the same girls hang around Blok M every day. But there are also the odd 'small' players who will appear 1-3 times a week. Most of them can be found in Top Gun/MyBar, normally hanging around the experienced ones. The 'seasoned' girls normally help to negotiate on their behalf.

I met one such girl during my trip in August. Could tell she was in desperate need in money for she was willing to do anything I asked. In fact I noticed there was a large hole on her panty, right above her right butt cheek during the 'strip' show in the room! On hindsight, it was a poor decision on my part not to have secured her phone number.

Jakarta continues to amaze me.

What hotels would you recommend if the intention is to stay in a relatively clean and upscale place but still be a stone's throw away from the action at Block M and related sites? My budget can be between $50 and $75......willing to go slightly higher if the hotel itself has a bar or night club which makes it easy to pickup and transport talent into the room ;-))

Ambhara is just across the road from Pasaraya Grande Blok M and probably falls into your budget. The Ambhara and Gran Mahakam are the only upscale hotels I can think of around there but the Gran Mahakam might be over your budget (but not if the rupiah keeps dropping).

Bros, I was in CJs on Friday night and received a few quotes in this range and even higher (1 million for a single shot - she went down to 700k, supposedly because I was "gantang" - and needless to say, I walked away). But it was clear that the market is really being spoilt (and I'm ashamed to say that some of those doing the spoiling are from my own country). It's all very well to say that the rupiah is down right now, but if it goes up over the next few months, I doubt the prices will come down to follow suit. Please utilise the upper brain as the lower one is really rather unreliable under these circumstances.

During this last trip, I did a first and took a TC girl back for overnight. A touch heavier than my usual slim specs but very friendly (and as it turned out later very wet). We had 2 long rounds (2X2 hours) and plenty of "playing around" in between. At a rate of 550k + 200k tip (9.30pm - 9.30am) it turned out to be reasonably priced.

I finally got to visit Berlian and Kartika. There was clearly a better choice of girls at Kartika with a brighter (and less filled with karaoke music) reception area. It did however feel like I was in the "fishbowl" and they were looking in as almost too much attention was given to me as the only customer there at the time (~3.45pm).

We strolled into Red Square, bought a bottle of 42 below and ended up leaving as it was way too crowded. Perhaps it would be advisable to book some seating or arrive much earlier than 11pm.

The Golden Boutique Hotel in the karaoke bar area behind the Melawei is a nice well furnished modern hotel which is in the same price range as the Ambhara, I personally don't like the place because of the cool off handed nature of the reception staff and their slowness (and of reports that they will try to overcharge for dirty sheets etc) but it might appeal to others, they also do 3 hour rates.

Menteng, the Amaris charge 345,000 a night, no deposit, worth checking out.

Yesterday eve I went for the first time to Hotel Travel. Normally when I am too tired and or too lazy to hunt a girl, I am used to go to Hotel Melawai in Blok M.

This time I went to Hotel Travel in Jl. Mangga Besar.

I fully will recommend this place. Plenty of all kind of girls, clean rooms plus affordable prices. I went upstairs with Yanti BN. She had the looks of a mid twenty girl, but it turns out she already reached the thirties. I bought her an Ice tea and for myself a Bir Bintang: costs Rp. 28.000 = +/- US$ 3,75.

She gave me - after a pretty fuck - an outstanding BBBJ CIM: Rp. 285.000. I tipped her Rp. 50.000.

First post on ISG and, soon will be my first time to Jakarta and actually just passing through with about 2 days stay.

I've greatly enjoyed reading all of your reports and searching the forum.

I've booked at Amaris to be near Blok M. I figure that's an easy area for a beginner.

Here's the gist of my question:

I've heard stories about the traffic nightmare that is Jakarta and I know Blok M area is far from airport. I don't want to miss my flight.

However, I depart on a Sunday, and my question to you regulars is:

Is Jakarta the kind of city where the traffic from Blok M to the Airport would be lighter than usual on a Sunday afternoon or heavier?

My flight departs around 4pm and want to allow enough time for transportation.

Thanks in advance to anyone answering. Later, I intend to provide a newbie perspective by way of a report and I will be joining ISG so I can post more completely.

On a Sunday afternoon you should give yourself about an hour to get from Blok M to the airport, checking in an hour and a half before your flight and adding on an extra half hour for anything untoward you should be leaving at about 1pm.

Amaris is certainly in the Blok M area but it's a fifteen minute walk to where you want to be at night (presuming Jalan Falatehan is what you're looking for). Be sure and do a daytime recce around the place to get your bearings, centre yourself in the big Pasaraya Mall for orientation. There is a big mall right next to the Amaris, (you do mean the Amaris don't you not the Ambhara?), Blok M Plaza, which is nice to browse in and check the talent but not much else.

For future visits to BATS and CJs, please note on the house rules. Number 1 rule is that the girls are not allowed to approach any guys without getting the 'greelight' from the guys - which normally be eye contact + a smile + calling her over to you. If you feel uneasy with 'the Nanny', you can tell her politely to leave you alone and if she still insist of being with you, you can tell her to bugger off and finally if she is still bothering you, you can lodge a complain to the Club Manager and the girl will be banned from the club.

Yes, my hotel is the Amaris. I am not that familiar with the location of everything or the size of Blok M attractions so I did think it was closer to the
"action street".

I will jalan jalan during the daytime and use a taxi to get to and from the action at night due to your info.

As you exit the hotel look to your left, you will see a crossroads with a HSBC bank at the corner, that is on the corner of Jalan Melawei, walk down that street and on the left hand side about two blocks along is the Hotel Melawei which has the Maribaya "Spa" on the sixth floor, just walk into the lobby and go right up. Further along that street you will come to the Pasaraya Mall, explore this mall, make it your base of operations during the day. Exiting Pasaraya around the corner you will find the Bus Terminal, you won't miss it because it's the place where all the buses are, oddly enough, behind this terminal you will find a small and not too prepossessing street with some straggly looking bars called "Oscar" and "G String" etc, this is Jalan Falatehan where you will find what it is you are looking for after 9pm.

Full reports will be expected from you in return for this information.

I'm not sure if this should be in the "hotel" forum but as it's a report only on the Spa, maybe not. I arranged to meet a local business contact at the Aryaduta last month. He called me, 20 minutes after the agreed meeting time to say they were stuck in traffic jam and might be an hour later. Unusual this, so I thought I'd use the time to try the Spa for a massage, being quite open minded as to whether "special" massage was on offer or not.

The quality and cleanliness of the room, was excellent, the layout being pretty much the same as a guest bedroom but with massage table not a bed. I think the cost of the massage was around 300k plus or minus a bit. Given the environment and the demeanor of the masseuse I was quite sure I was just in for "straight" massage and that was OK.

The girl did not comply with my basic selection criteria of well under half my age and weight but she was pretty attractive, maybe 6/10 overall.

However, within minutes, it was clear that she was "going for it" and she was very good indeed at stimulating my interest in some extra activity. But the strange an unusual thing was she only wanted sex, not HJ. It was not just a strategy to get more cash, I'd already made it clear I only wanted HJ. She claimed that she really wanted sex with me because of the size of my dick! I didn't seek clarification on whether she was impressed because it was extra large or extra small for fear of getting the wrong answer.

An update on Maribaya (6th fl Hotel Melawi), at least as I see it.

I started my mongering days in Jakarta in the famous 6th floor and so have some fond memories. Hadn't been back there for ages because other venues and a fucking cracker of a GF have kept me away.

At a loose end the other night I decided to check it out again. When I walked in I was reminded of what I liked about the place - friendly girls who give you a smile and happy to have a chat. No blank, glum faces like so many places in Kota etc. But also reminded that the bar and the rooms are badly in need of an update and refurbishment.

Picked a reasonable looking fucklet. Nothing great but nice enough arse to get me going. She was an average performer - satisfying enough but nothing great.

Then I went to pay at the counter - 400K! wow they really are pushing beyond what the market will bear! No wonder the girls were complaining about the lack of custom. That's seriously more expensive than much newer swankier places like Hotel Travel which charges 285K.

I'm afraid that's my last visit to Maribaya for a while.

Location, location, location. Maribaya is in a much better location that Hotel Travel for me. I would normally have to go a bit out of my way to go up to north Jakarta. By the time I take a taxi back and forth to Hotel Travel it will cost me as much or more than the 400k at Maribaya and for sure cost me more of my time. I also will not find a fellow bule to chat with over a beer prior to my "massage" at hotel travel.

In south Jakarta, Maribaya is the best place of that type to visit. In my experience, the girls at Maribaya always provide top notch blow jobs and service overall is good. It was about a couple of years back that I dropped into Sari Pan Pacific massage place and was disappointed. The girl, started the massage and within 5 minutes asked me whether I wanted FS. She quoted a princeley sum of 1.5 Million. I laughed. Then she says it is 5 star hotel and so the rate is 5 star. On our first night in Jakarta we (a friend from Austria who is the first time in Asia and I) went to CJ's in Mulia Hotel. It is quite high class, very expensive and I believe the quality of girls no better than blok M which we explored later.

as promised, here i am with a full report on my short trip to jakarta.

as advised by the forum seniors, i stayed at ambhara. about the hotel, it met my basic needs - it was clean, reasonably priced (paid around usd 75 per night with breakfast) and convenient - though i was surprised at how small the deluxe rooms were. convenient location and friendly staff (the doorman/security guy insisted on the first night that i should sample someone for the night on his recommendation but i did not take him up on his offer).....

day 1:

checked-in and decided to immediately make my way to hotel melawai 6th floor. on advice from concierge, i walked the 'short' distance from ambhara - though it was only 15 minutes or so, wet and humid weather did not make it a pleasant experience. arrived at the hotel around 3pm and, being very high on the hornometer (!), made the mistake of selecting the first acceptable looking girl on the 6th floor (later saw a couple of much nicer/younger looking ones) who seemed to be of indian origin. she cajoled me into getting another girl into the room to double the fun - who was i to resist! anyway had an acceptable session with the two women - both had seen better days and were somewhat mechanical though still fun enough and putting in an honest effort into the session. was able to cum twice during the one hour session and after paying a million (400k +100k tip per girl) headed back to the hotel with a wide grin on my face :-)

I went to TK a few days ago. I had to pay 50k upfront to get in with a free drink. At 0.30 am only a few people were in but before 3.00 it got fully packed with 95% arab guys then later on arrived african guys. In most cases, the owners never got arrested and persecuted. I once brought up a bordello raid issue and how the media coverage affects the business to a bordello manager. I still remember he said, "free advertising!"

BTW, Raja Group controls Medika, Rasa Sayang, Athena, Rajamas, Sumo, and Malioboro. If you check the board of commissioners and directors, you will learn the same people control a prominent newspaper in Jakarta.

I paid rp300, 000 at top gun but don't know if this is high or low.

I'll be coming to Jakarta for about a month in April. I often rent apartments for stays of two weeks or more, but have never done so in Jakarta before.

That would be Take's Mansion; it's a five minute walk from the Bank Indonesia Busway stop at Jalan Thamrin so you're pretty much in the middle of everywhere. I would recommend taking one of the penthouse apartments which overlooks the pool, if I recall that should be around the budget you're looking for. Now terms like "mansion" and "penthouse" might give a somewhat grander impression than what Take's actually is but you'll find it clean, comfortable, well run and convenient. There is cable TV but no internet as such but you're not short of wi-fi options near by. I stayed there for three months way back when I first arrived and had no problems. Check it out.

The option by Dorman i.e. Take Mansion is one of the best deals in town as like you said the rest require a long stay rental.
I tried recently to obtain a reasoanble rate 1 month rental through a real estate agent but dealing with the landlords are like dealing with vampires who will suck as much blood as possible and leave you for dead! As a result I decided to rent my usual apartment but 1 week short to a month!

Others would require a large deposit and this may be a big hassle, however bear in mind this is peak season as the Election is scheduled for next year and many political party members are in town since Oct to prepare. Take Mansion was fully bokked the last time I went to enquire. It is popular with both the locals and the bules who are in the know of this place!

i was at delta, gatot subroto this evening and had the complete package, which includes happy ending and is known as full body massage. the happy ending comes with a three session package, which is about 2 hours and 15 minutes. i always take the private suite, and it costs rp. 670k. the facility in the suite is that you don't have to go out to the public area for a shower. the girl herself would give you the shower after the happy ending. i always felt, its worth it and that's why keep going there atleast once a month.

but in case you opt for a one or two session massage, then you will not get the happy ending.

Not far from the Pertamina hospital at jalan Kyai Maja is a market/shopping center(?) called Majestic/Mayestik. If my memory serves me right, there are 4 or 5 massage joints within the compound. Central/Sentral is the only one I know of, that is more or less a bordello. At the other places, extra's have to be negociated.

Try Fortune Spa, across the street (on the south side) from the Le Meridien Hotel, 280,000 rupiah for a decent legit massage, plus a tip for a happy ending.

You could also try Jaspa Spa, located in Mal Ambassador in Kuningan; I've written a few posts on this place but have not visited it in over 6 months. Used to be a massage+HJ place but a couple of recent posts seem to indicate that they are no longer giving HJs, just a legit massage for 135,000 rupiah. of course, this service is included in the delta fortuna massage and one doesn't have to pay extra. i recall paying around 450k for what might have been 2 sessions and getting jerked off at the end. but while the room had a bathtub inside, it wasn't fully enclosed but partitioned and had a curtain instead of a door with the usual 'dilarang membuat asusila' admonition. i certainly didn't pay 640k that john aldrych reports.

Guys, thanks for all the wonderful tips on massage. I was optimistic that I'd have time for one but work, drinking and non-legit massage consumed my time. I did squeeze in a massage from the Hotel Ambhara in-house. 155K Rp one hour body/oil. Was a decent but expensive. The masseuse was eager to provide happy ending but she was 40+ and didn't warrant. A wonderful report and guide to CJs. Although I've mongered JKT about 20 times this reported prompted me to give CJs a shot.

I arrived at CJs about 11PM on a Monday night. Not staying at the Mulia, I figured I'd have to pay a cover charge but instead I had to prepay for a drink before entering. Unfortunately the prepay for a gin & tonic was 165K Rp! That's a night of drinking at Blok M for me.

Following SK's guide, I went to the divider wall between where hotel guests and visitors can go. The SOP attack began with the older pros taking their turns first. I guessed there was maybe 40 gals in the place, a few were stunners but the overall quality was just a tad better then my usual Blok M haunt. They were of course far better dressed and the English speaking ability was good. Regardless, like Blok M, the majority of the gals were child bearers and my favorite, petites, were not common. I did approach a few of the sharper looking gals and the starting quote was a 1,000K Rp. I countered with a request for ST quote and they of course said they were talking about ST. For that price I'd expect them to wash my car and paint my house. I'm sure these gals would go with me for half or less but it just wasn't worth the effort.

That being said the hotel and bar is spectacular. It was the best JKT bar I've experienced for breathing oxygen vs nicotine. The lighting was good, I could see the gals clearly. The band was outstanding. The gals were fun to chat with. Overall a fun and entertaining experience but this Cheap Charlie prefers the haunts of the Blok and Lokasari.

Sometime I hope to be of the means to frequent the Mulia and CJs but for now I'm sticking with my less expensive haunts. I left CJs about 12:30 and headed over to Blok M. It was my lucky night as I found a stunning fresh gal who provided outstanding service for 300K. Not the norm for Blok M but there's always a few drift bys.

i've usually paid a 100,000 rupiah tip at the fortune spa, on top of the house fee of 280,000 rupiah for a 90 minute session. yes that may sound a bit high but part of it is a tip for the good massage and part for the hj and other fun (the girls usually strip down and let me play with their tits, sometimes a quick bbbj not to completion, twice some daty).

re: your comment about the difference between 640k for two hours and 400k at most places, the answer is simple: the time involved, regardless of what was or was not done during the time! if there's an hourly rate, then having a girl stay with you an extra hour means that she is not available to massage a different customer during that second hour, so a larger house fee is charged and a bigger tip is expected.

also, one probably cannot compare maribaya with a spa that provides a legitimate massage as well as extras, such as delta/fortune etc. i love maribaya but let's be honest, it's a bar/brothel, not a true massage spa :d

I guess it's definitely a matter of taste. I've lived in Jakarta almost 10 years now, but I still consider Thailand to be the top spot in SE asia for girls. I think the Thai girls are just a bit hotter. It used to be the indo girls were sweeter, but that's not really the case anymore. I travel to thailand about once a month to get my Thai fix. The infrastructure in Thailand makes it a very comfortable stay as well. I don't like the PI because I like nicer infrastructure than they have in that country, but Angeles City is the best place in the entire world for a cheap sex vacation if you are looking for value for money.

I'm someone who has been to all 3 countries mentioned by Smoothy and the 2 countries mentioned by Ekspet. I also speak some Thai and some Tagalog and also quite a fair bit of the Jakarta lingo. Although each & every person would have thier own preferance it is also important to take note of the mongerer ethnic base.

As an Asian who speaks all 3 countries language and have mongered and had real girlfriends in all 3 countries due to my business and work I must say like wise in my humble and very personal opinion Jakarta has been my favourite mongering destination ever since 2005 and perhaps shall remain so unless some major change happens and the ladies change drastically to!

At the end of the day to each his own! I for one will stick to Jakarta and have you guys ever though that if all of us is of the same opinion then Jakarta would be the no 1 spot in the World for Monger es. I for 1 am glad that the West still think that the possibility of them being involved in a terrorist attack in Jakarta is like going to your local 7-11 (A famous convenience store found virtually everywhere here in Malaysia) which some of us do on a daily basis!

I am pretty new to the mongering scene and have in the course of my work, visited AC/MNL, BKK and JKT. I have found Thai girls a lot mot hotter but they do have a prejudice against dark skinned chaps.

AC is definitely the place to go as it is definitely value for money but I found very girls to be gfe; most keep it commercial; some prove major disappointments.

JKT is different - I have seen the attitude of Thailand but also the friendliness of Jawa. I have had more wild nights with the girls there than anywhere esle. In my opinion, they are better than the cheaper girls you can find in the fishbowls in Batam.

02170717070I tried this place last week and would strongly recommend it. This operation is solely an out-call delivery massage service. There is no shop for in-call. Very professional. Just call up, tell them your location, how many hours you want and a lady will come in about 30 minutes. Price for full body massage is Rp75, 000 for 1 hour or Rp110, 000 for 2 hours. I took 2 hours and tipped Rp40k for a total of Rp150k.

I had my squeezette order to her boarding room in north Jakarta. The lady arrived and was professionally dressed in a kind of white uniform. I laid out on the bed and she did her magic. Started with a shiatsu-type finger pressure massage and followed by swedish oil massage. These ladies are capable of doing a very strong massage, but I like it very soft so I said "pelan-pelan" (softly) a couple times to adjust her pressure level to my liking. The massage lady also did a nice face and head massage at my request. All in all it was a superb service and great value for a delivery massage.

As Brandon mentioned, I would re-emphasize that this is a "straight-up" massage service. I would not suggest that anyone either expect nor solicit for extras. If that is what you are looking for, then there are many other such "happy ending" knock shop-type places mentioned on the forum.

Thanks for your report and your update on the prices. I haven't gone to Fortune Spa since late 2007, apparently inflation has caused the house fee to go up from 280,000 rupiah to 320,000 rupiah.

The expectation for a tip has also gone up, I guess that shouldn't be much of a surprise. In 2004, any girl at an MP would have been ecstatic to receive a tip of 50,000 rupiah but that's ancient history now. Considering the recent large increase in the cost of living for the average Indonesian, one can't blame the girls for trying to get as much as they can as a tip.

If it's any consolation, if you're a foreigner with U.S. dollars, thanks to the deteriorating exchange rate for the Indonesian rupiah, the 520,000 rupiah that you just paid is approx. the same US$ amount as the 380,000 rupiah I paid in 2007.

Which reminded me of something that happened last week (right now I'm in the US). I stopped by my bank to withdraw money, only to be told that my checking account was overdrawn, instead of the US $150 balance I thought was there. I asked why and was told that the bank's back office had just processed a charge of $185 that had been made in Nairobi, Kenya on New Years Eve. Huh? I'm here in the US, not in Nairobi!

I asked for further details and was told that the charge had been made using a debit card that had been stolen (and immediately cancelled) last May, 2008 in Indonesia. Although the card had been cancelled eight months ago, somehow it was able to be successfully used and processed. Luckily, I was able to convince the bank that I had not been in Kenya on New Years Eve and had not made the charge, and they restored the $185 back into my account.

Lesson #2 here for you is to closely monitor the statements and activity for those 4 credit cards that you had to cancel, to make sure that you don't get charged with fraudulent activity several months in the future.

Was in lovely Jakarta awhile back, and and have already posted my BATS experience. Am now finally getting to report on the second night.

Not much else in the immediate vicinity, although you're fairly close to Plaza Indonesia (to the north) for mall hunting. Just south is the Fortune Spa (overpriced massage and HJ) and the Le Meridien Hotel, where you can find the Tiga Puluh night club in the basement. It's not as "hot" or as nice a place as it was a few years ago but may be worth a look.

Don't get to Jakarta as much as I would like so not an expert on the "etiquette" as it were. However, I would be interested in the experiences of regulars for comments on my recent visit to Sands Relaxation Centre (not sure exactly where it is, but in the same complex as the Novotel).

I recently visited FM1 "Boutique Hotel" which is just opposite the Ciputra Mall on the toll-road to the airport.

When you arrive you take the elevator to the third floor, where you "check-in" with the staff in what is a legitmate looking spa area. They give you a numbered tag and locker key.

After you enter the door to the "Spa area" you hit the locker rooms. On the right side of the door is a. On the left side is the more interesting side where the girls are located. There are two floors of *****s.

On the third floor are "premium" girls, mainly of Chinese origin who are priced at Rp 1. 6mn per session including room and full service.

If you take the staircase down, there are "regular" girls both Indonesian and Indonesian-Chinese. There are two price points, Rp 700K for "normal" and Rp 1. 4mn for "special". Take outs for the whole night are available for Rp 1. 4mn after around 10pm. Great to take to your hotel for a night of fun.

What I like about all of the girls I have met here is the service. French kissing, DATY, FS, doggie, massage all are available. Most offer a GFE, but PSE is available if you ask. It is expensive, but a great one-stop alternative with in-call and take-outs.

The Grand Hyatt is located in the same complex as Plaza Indonesia, one of the recognized hunting grounds in Jakarta. If you don't feel like mall hunting, then
wait till dark and leave the Plaza through the exit, nearest to the traffic circle with the fountains. You'll be approached.
Another recognized place for action is of course B.A.T.S. in the Shangrilla, a few minutes away. Looking for cheap action? Jalan Jaksa, about 15 minutes walk, is the place.

I recently had a few days in Jakarta so decided to visit a variety of places as a comparison of what is on offer. Some of the options below were old favourites/options and some were my first visit.

Many thanks to other Members who have provided names, addresses etc.

Day 1 started with a lunchtime arrival and a trip straight to Hotel Travel. The vast seating area was nearly empty of punters and there were about 20 girls on offer in the Standard section (I didn’t go through to the VIP Section in the rear). Mummy brought out a nice cutie that was "belum 19" and we proceeded up to the stairs to the rooms. Girlie had an 8 body and a nice talkative attitude. Melawi Hotel/Maribaya: Legendary for safe and hassle free service rather than the quality of the rooms or girls. Good value for money

Stadium: Good option for a night out drinking and hunting if you are into young buxom bodies.

Kartika: A novelty and good for a laugh rather than exceptional service or quality.

Blok M: Anything and everything is available at reasonable prices. If you don’t fall for the first "Hello Mister" some girls approaching CJ’s/BATS quality are available. Just get in before the best are gone. Security is normally not an issue. My incident was the first in 10 years of mongering. I’ve noticed that 8 to 9’s are now insisting on ST rather than higher prices to increase their income

Just say Jalan Palatehan ( also pronounced Jala Falatehan as there in not much difference in the the pronunciation of "P" and "F" in Bahasa Indonesia). The places are D's Place, Top Gun, G String etc. etc. and these are all along the street. For a better idea do a Google search for "Blok M' and you'll come across a site set up by a Blok M regular.

XerusIf you ask for "Blok M" any time befor 10 pm you will be taken to the nearby shopping mall. Pasaraya. As Spice Lover said ask for the bars by name as they are all next door to each other. Top Gun or The Sportsman would be the most widely known. Even better is to tell the hotel where you want to go (they will understand "bars at Blok M") and they can explain to the taxi.

If all else fails write down "Jl Falatehan" and show it to the cabbie.

It is: Jalan Faletehan/Falatehan I.

Jalan Falatehan is the street you enter from jalan Trunojoyo, opposite the police headquarters. Turn left to enter jalan Faletehan II and after 50 meter or so, turn right to enter jalan Faletehan I where "the" bars are located.

You can also enter jalan Faletehan II from jalan Sultan Hasanudin. If you have Pasaraya department store on your left hand side and at the same time Ambhara hotel at your right hand side you are entering jalan Sultan Hasanudin. Join the traffic on the farthest lane on the left. The first street you'll encounter on the left is jalan Faletehan II. Enter it and after 50 meters or so turn left again to enter jalan Faletehan I.

I know I should post this on the "other areas" thread but it's dead as a doornail so I will abuse my senior member privileges and post here, well it is related to Jakarta so it's not completely out of place.

Next month I will come back to Jakarta, and I have a few questions and suggestions.

Last time I found an hotel in Mangga Besar, a convenient place, and I want to return ther. The area is messy, expecially at night, but not dangerous. Lokasari Plaza is a place where a man can find everything he needs, between a fuck and one other. There is an internet point, a travel agent (for domestic only), a good rate moneychanger, a barber shop (not so good), and a lot of restaurants (indonesian, Chinese, fastfood). All on a short street!

How is the situation now in TC? I read of police raids, at the end of last year, and now? How is the quality of girls in what was once considered the best venue in the pacific rim?

And it's a long time since I don't read here abourt mall hunting. As I'll stay in North Jakarta, I will try Mangga Dua Mall, for shopping and for hunting, then I will write a report. Anyone knows how is that mall?

One more question: where can I find non-pro students? As I like to spend my time with a nice girl, not only fuk&go.

Don't't change your money at the first moneychangers in the arrivals area of the airport: to find better rates (5. 8 % more) go to the moneychangers in departures lounge, just 1 floor upstairs the arrivals.

When you arrive, confused and jetlagged, avoid a sticky man offering taxi: he wears a badge with written "Silvera", but he is not one of the staff of Silverbird service (which is a good company). Just look for a meter taxi and don't pay more than the toll-highway fare. If you go North Jakarta, you can chose Prinsen Park for 200'000rp or Olympic for a little more.

I too often wonder why anyone would use money changers when you can get the local currency out of a hole in the wall 24 hours a day.

So, change a small amount, like $10 or $20 just for cab fares. Better to lose a few points to money changers than have cabbies not take your USD, and give change. Though they'll gladly take the rounded up $10 or $20. Cabbies are the scumbags of the earth, and the worst of them prey on fresh meat at airport and terminal arrivals.

I did some research on the place about a year ago and it didn't look good, perhaps it has improved. Here is what I remember.

After the tsunami destroyed the area, loads of girls turned to prostitution in way of hanging out at the local park in local neighborhoods. Banda Aceh is also where sharia law is heavily enforced and an italian ngo was recently arrested for having sex with a local girl (maybe Hi fiance) he had been dating for 2-3 years. Women in banda aceh are caned in public for engaging in sex with a foreigner. THey also enforce wearing the head scarf. The locals there are so into busting people in the act they even snuck into ngo camps looking of people having sex with local or drinking alcohol. Yes, did I mention, drinking is not allowed.

If you do decide to check it out, airasia flies there from KL. you have to get a visa in KL as I don't believe they have visa on arrival in banda, but don't quote me on that.

No more mamasans in tc, selection variable, but way below it's heyday. Price still 200 (100 to hotel and 100 to girl). May negotiate for cheaper rate. Saw a few bules agreeing to opening bids of 300-400 (probably not including the room), so be prepared for ridiculous price quotes, but stick to your guns (walk if you have to) and you can establish a good rate that'll apply to all the gals in there.

There are uni students avaliable in central, and south central Jakarta. Can't remember the name of the mall where lots are found but it's next to a street scene that's near a culster of discos/brothals. I've got to dig up the info. In the meantime, some taxi drivers may be able to help you.

I get money from those machines every time I arrive in Jakarta (which is often). I can't remember them ever being out of money. What I don't like is that it's difficult to find one that gives 100,000 bills. And then, they have a max of 2,000,000 rupiah, sometimes even a max of 1,200,000. That means I have to visit the atm at least every couple of days.

Have no experience with big capital Jakarta, only holes in the wall at Medan. Well, actually two standalone booths, both dry. Outside by the touts and taxis.

You know you can take out multiple transactions from the same ATM if it has a lower limit such as rp1.2 mio? Most US issued credit cards have a $500 or $1000 per day limit so you can do 4 x rp1.5 mio with no problems.

You're quite right Smoothy and I presume that's why the machines have such limits. My suggestion is to use HSBC ATM's which allow 4mil at a time (there's one across the way from Blok M Plaza and also in Jalan Sudirman) or else Citibank which allow 3mil in one go (provided it's a machine dispensing 100k notes, the 50k ones only allow 1.5mil).

I suppose it depends on your bank, the norm for any foreign exchange transaction (credit/debit card or ATM) is between 2-3% but a per transaction fee would depend on the bank. The buy/sell spread on the rupiah is ridiculous but I've found the interbank rate to be competitive with the local money changers.

If you're interested I recently got a new credit card which doesn't charge any foreign exchange conversion fees and actually gives 2% cash back every month of the total charges. I was sceptical at first as it would be easy to hide by using a bogus exchange rate but I charged using 2 other credit cards on the same day and the exchange rate on this card was between 2-3% better.

certainly not as good as jakarta or even most other big provincial towns in indonesia. but there are quite a handful of hair salons that offer plus plus services, including fs. the prices, for foreigners at any rate, are higher than jakarta - i paid rp400k for a quick poke in a grubby, non-ac room with kids toys rep001tered all over the floor. the girl was a real local acehnese, though, not an east javanese or indramayu import.

anyone interested, just search 'banda aceh' in the other areas section - i think i posted when i was up there and if i didn't, then there was already a post about the hair salons.

If in Medan, try the Sun Plaza Shopping Mall, they have whole wall of ATMs from several banks there. Different banks will give you different rates - also dependent on the network being used (Plus, Cirrus, Artajasa etc).

Personally, I prefer to change money before going (maybe it's easier coming from Malaysia) to get a better rate. I will bring some currency to change in town in case of emergency. I prefer Singapore dollars or Malaysian Ringgit (good exchange rates and no fuss). Take note if you bring USD, they will scrutinize and even give different rates depending on the condition of the notes, whether you have folded the notes, and what year they were printed.

This is my 3 time to Jakarta and want to share my impress of Jakarta. I can only compare it with Thailand where I been in SEA.

I understand it's in Thailand more 'open' to meet the working girls. What I see in Jakarta it that it's or in hotel bars (bargain, because too exp.) or in rough area's of the city. Not like Sukumvite, Soi Cowboy, Walking street, etc. In Thailand, where you can just take a relax walk and look around. I realy miss that here. There are a few places where you can pick up girls from the streets, but it's also in dark poor area's of the city.

What's realy nice about Jakarta is the Shopping malls and 'normal' bars. Where if you try your best, can pick up a nice girl for free. I'm not so old, and maybe it's that in my advantage.

The most girls don't even ask to use a condom and go complete bare with you. It's risky and specialy in a horny mood, as you probeblie now.

Yesterday go to block M, but don't now what to think about it. It is in my oppion a dark and grubby place. Don't feel relax when I have to walk there. I go in the evening and not in the daytime. Maybe that's the different.
