I find Ratu a bit more expensive than others. I usually go to Manga Dua Mall. 5k each for DVD, last year. Usually 1 free with every 10.
I was in Jakarta a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the Gran Mahakam hotel which is close to Blok M.
I arrived in Jakarta at about 9:30 pm and walked accross to Blok M just after that. I visited a number of the bars, some were packed and others were empty, but there was a good selection of bars depending on ones needs.
The map of the Blok M area which has been posted to this site was very useful.
There was good choice of good looking girls available at the bars and possibly that was because Jakarta is not that busy during the wet season.
I chose a nice young girl with a slim figure and we went back to the hotel. No problems at the hotel with bringing in visitors and the hotel is certainly girl friendly.

felt guilty about not posting after my last asia trip so here's a run down of my last trip at the end of february.

Kuningan or Mega Kuningan? If the former, you are within walking distance of Aphros, whose ladies night is worth checking out on Thursdays. The latter puts you near a bunch of bars, but as I stated earlier, nothing that gives mongering options. You aren't that far from the blok later in the night (after jam macet) or the big hotel nightclubs on Sudirman if you are in MK, but again, it comes down to traffic issues. BTW, as happened to me once, it can take around 90 mins to get from MK to the blok in peak hour traffic.

I wouldn't waste my time trying to do anything in Kuningan. As far as mongering, there is basically nothing in the area. Your best bet is to take a taxi to a good area of town for that.
In my opinion, the guy recommending Aphrodite on Thursday is giving poor advice. If you are looking for sex, I think that place is a waste of time. Thursday is a good night in Jakarta. As a matter of fact, I consider it to be the best night of the week for mongering. Friday and Saturday are too busy with guys not having to work the next day, but Thursdays are much better because the same girls are available all over town, with much less competition. Why waste the best night of the week in Aphrodite where the guys always outnumber the girls at least 3 to 1 (even on ladies night), and an attractive girl almost never goes there alone? Try Mistere in Ritz Carlton. Its in Mega Kuningan. Stix in Park Lane is the closest. If you want something cheaper going, then go to Delaila in Gedung Patra Jasa at Gatot Subroto. Or head towards Cikini Raya and try Tiga Kuda in Hotel Menteng Dua. Or even you can go to Aryaduta in Jalan Prapatan and head to the Tavern Pub. Lot of options from Kuningan. And action is there in all these places after 10 pm and it would take anywhere between 15to 25 minutes to reach by taxi, any of these places after 10 pm, depending upon the traffic and assuming that you are staying in Taman Rasuna. But if you are staying somewhere near Mal Ambassador or Somerset, then you can cut across Mega Kuningan and hit Mistere or Deleila. But if you want to walk across then Mistere at Ritz Carlton and Stix at Park Lane. It would be a longish walk. But would you not feel out of sort walking to these two affluent hotels. Or walk across to Delta Spa, to experience a HJ.

First you must be glad that this Aussie guy felt threatened by your SMS or whatever. You must be some real romantic guy, which I know you are from your other posts, that this girl kept your SMS in her handphone.

I agree with Smoothy: "...If you are looking for sex, I think that place [Aphrodite] is a waste of time..." It's not impossible to find a girl in there if you are going anyway but definitely not a place to go if you are "hunting".
"Three nuts" - sorry for delay in posting in reply to your question, I've been working in UAE where I can't get access to this site.
Firstly, I have hunted in Mangga Dua malls; it's quite different from the more upmarket malls (PI, PS, Senayan City etc) in that the girls in this area are much less experienced in being approached by men (especially bules). It's not like other low end malls where there is an obvious "market" - I'm thinking of Atrium in particular which you should try if you haven't already. The consequences are that there is much less chance of them speaking English - in fact I've picked up maybe a dozen girls in Mangga Dua (over a VERY long period of time) and none spoke English at all. Also - and I've found this - you can pick a girl up and go for coffee with her as a preamble to taking her back to your hotel but she may well have no idea at the outset that this is just a precurser to sex. When she realises she will be off. Not there will be a problem or "scene", but it will be a waste of time.
As for non-pro students - the best time/place is Ciputra Mall late afternoon. It is close to Tarumanagara and Trisakti Universities; loads of girls wander in at that time. Not far from there is Slipi - a small mall which is also very good - maybe better - but is very popular with local business men doing the same as you and frankly a lot more experienced and quicker of the mark than you or me. The biggest mall of the lot is Mall Taman Anggrek which is also close by, I've found it not quite so good as the other two, maybe because it's so big but it's worth a try.
You can see all these malls which are on your right as you drive from the airport to the city, roughly half way. Trisakti University is on your left opposite Ciputra.
There are low end bars with "massage" in this area as well - I've posted on them as have others if you want to search the forum. In summary, I wouldn't recommend them and the area can be slightly worrying after dark if you are not familiar with Jakarta. I have wandered around that area myself however and never had any problem at all.
You will find all the answers in the forum in considerable detail. You don't need escort services, you can find girls everywhere, some places are harder than others. If you want a challenge and have the time and initiative, try looking in malls. If you want them cheap, "on a plate" go to Blok M and/or Kota nightclubs; if you want them expensive go to BATS and the like. Less than 500k is a pretty good price, more than that is getting expensive. They will ask for a million in BATS.

I also stocked up on WII software.I am assuming this is a typo as if you paid rp70k per disc you over paid. I am assuming it was rp7k per disc as this is about right for the standard dvd movies. It's a remote small island with almost nothing inside and lousy hotels (even in the best one). The closest beside Bali is to go to Pangandaran in West Java (on the south border between West and Central Java) about 5. 6 hours drive. Second option is to Anyer on the Banten Province (west of Jakarta), about 3 hours drive.

Last year my gf in Jakarta went on a company retreat. Her office group was taken by ferry to an island an hour's boat ride north of Jakarta. I don't remember the name of the island or the resort. An option is to fly to Bangka Island from Jakarta. Then it's a 45 minute drive to Sungai Liat and nearby beautiful deserted beaches. You can stay at the Hotel Parai Beach with pool, restaurant, private beach, waterskiing etc. Over the hill was 5 km of unpopulated beach. Think Kuta circa 1920.
I stayed at Tanjung Pesona Resort (in 2005) about 5 km from Sungai Liat City. Quiet except for weekends. Great beach, pool, Chinese clientel, restaurant, pool hall, karaoke club, very scenic.

I can't recall ever having anything stolen in Jakarta. Some taxi's will try to rip you off, but that's universal anywhere you go. Safer than MNL or BKK, in my opinion.
I think JKT is no different than MNL or BKK. Big SE Asia city, with many people desperate for a few Rps. If you know MNL or BKK, you will not be taken for a ride. Insist on the meter in a taxi, better yet, only get into Blue bird taxis, dont exchange money in places where the rates seems too good to be true, and don't leave your drink unattended.

Carrying guns in Philllipines is common and also being hurt with it. BAngkok has its own underworld operating and is also notorius. I guess in Jakarta the Crime level is pretty low compared to Phillipines and Thailand. The reason could be that the new order regime fell in the late 90's and till they were in power, any sensible person would think twice before committing a crime in Indonesia. The " out of the legal system" punishment was so severe that it was a deterrent for others who think of venturing into crime. But then after the new order regime fell, the crime is in its nascent stage and is yet to evolve. I guess it would take a few more years for Crime to evolve to the level of either PI or Thailand. Till then Indonesia is a pretty safe country.
I assume you are concerned about being a victim of crime - I don't think you are at anymore risk in Jakarta than anywhere else (including western big cities), probably less so. Occassionally taxi drivers try and rip you off but you can avoid that by using Blue Bird and Silver Bird - except when you arrive at the airport! Don't accept the offers from the official taxi firms in the desk you see as soon as you come through customs; they will ask up to Rp500k for a taxi into town, if you go outside you can get a metered taxi and only pay Rp100k, but make sure he puts his meter on. Always keep you taxi if you go out late at night, if you emerge from a club with a girl in places like Blok M or Kota you'll not find a taxi with a meter and you'll get ripped off for sure.

I bought the 11K Wii games at Ratu Plaza. I also bought my Wii Console there. Its been a learning experience to say the least.
Here's the deal. The games you buy there may or may not work on the console you bought in Indonesia. They will not work on a plain Jane Europe or USA console.
The consoles sold in the Ratu Plaza have a software modification to the Wii operating system.
When I got home about half of the 20+ games I bought would not load. Not knowing any better I upgraded the Wii operating system via the Internet to version 3.4U. I tried it again and none of the 20+ games would load.
The Wii requires a "mod" to play these pirated disks. Mine had a software mod which I inadvertantly wiped out. Software mods don't work well to start with. You really need a mod chip in your Wii to play these Ratu plaza disks. Go to Google and search "wii mod". You can buy the chips and install them yourself. If you're a lousy at soldering as I, you might consider having a pro do it. There's some good "how to" videos on Youtube.
I found a local chop shop via Craigslist that installs mod chips. The guy has my console at the moment. He says I can expect some but not all of the pirated disks to work after he does the mod. I'll know more tomorrow when I get the console back.

You can get games for US (NTSC coded) but it's not the game but the console at fault if they dont play. Normally the consoles sold in this region (but not directly by Sony) are modified with a chip (very reliable - I've got an old chunky PS2 that still runs for the kids' games) which enables the console to utilize pirated games. Similar with the Wii as well. You might want to make some inquiries with the local console suppliers.

I agree that Jakarta is the pick over Bali if you're not interesting in wading through mobs of drunken yobbo tourists and being hassled on the beach to buy junk you don't want.
Many more options for "the hobby" in Jakarta and more like real Indonesia. You can go "bule" (Westerner) and stay in Blok M, big hotel discos etc, or you can go where the real Indonesians go in the north to Kota to the "point and fuck" places etc.

If you're taking a taxi and there's any doubt about the destination because you can't pronounce the name or something like that, just tell the driver it's in the area of Jalan Mangga Besar (big mango street). Or mention that it's in Kota - that's the old northern area of Jakarta (means town or city). Lots of ethnic Chinese live there, which is probably part of the reason why there are so many fuck shops there. They also run most of the electronic and computer shops that the area is famous for.
The Kota area has TC, Hotel Travel, Stadium, Berlian and lots of the other famous venues frequently mentioned in the forum. They're not all next to each other, but are in a number of little groups in different sites around the wider Kota area. Details are in many many other reports.

I've been in Jakarta for a week now. I stayed at the nice Intercontinental, and got a nice suite upgrade, and the free minibar that my hotel status gives me works out well too. I've now moved to Take's Mansion, which is okay, but as JAD warned me, it's a pain in the ass to get out of there, with all the one way streets and such.
JAD has been helpful, and we've gone out a few times. I think as I get older that my passion for mongering all the times is going out the window, sad as that is to say!

This discussion about the best directions to give taxi drivers shows how important it is to get a reliable taxi. If you're a newbie you really are dependent on a good driver. You can say "near mangga besar" or "near mangga dua" or whatever, but that is only to give the general area. If the driver doesn't know the precise place you should make him ask someone on the street for directions or you could drive around for hours.
The best advice for the uninitiated in Jakarta is to only take a Bluebird or Silverbird taxi. If you're really unsure of yourself stick to the Silverbirds. They are more expensive and only really available at big hotels or by phone (79171234), but their drivers are usually excellent. Take them until you are confident about where you're going.
The second most reliable option is Bluebird (from the same company as Silverbird). Their drivers usually know where they're going. Beware that sometimes you may get an idiot Bluebird driver, but mostly they're good. Bluebirds are so well-known that other cowboy taxis try to disguise themselves as Bluebirds (same colour, logo almost the same etc). The way to know a Bluebird is by the big sticker across the top of the windscreen saying "Bluebird Group". Unlike Silverbirds, there are hundreds on the street and you can easily hail one (except when it's raining...).
Some mongers will hire a taxi for the night. They can take you to the venue of your fucking and sucking pleasure and have them wait for you. The extra charge is minimal (including parking fees), unless you're really on a tight budget. Don't do this myself because I've never found it necessary. But some like the ease of just walking out to your own little blue limo.
Oh forgot to add...
The main reason to take only Bluebird is that the drivers generally (though not always) actually know the streets of Jakarta. But the other reason is that many other taxis are dirty, smelly, have half-functioning, sweat-inducing AC and bone-breaking suspension and their drivers have not washed this year and are like something out of The Killing Fields or Deliverance. If things are really dire and the streets are devoid of Bluebirds, you might take an Express. They are easily recognisable because they're the only ones that are painted white.
I add this because there is no real issue about security in any Jakarta taxis, no matter how hot and stinky. They are safe and you won't get seriously ripped off. A couple of years ago there were media reports of robberies by drivers, but they would be one in ten billion events. I've never been to South America but I've heard horror stories about Brazil etc. Jakarta, on the other hand, is as safe as any city in the West.

Day 2 - April Fool's Day

My quick question after reading through a few pages is - is Indo much cheaper than BKK for ST / LT? I see prices that translate to 25-30 USD for ST whereas I remember paying upto 80USD in BKK for the same hour long fun!
I am in a state of dis-belief and hence asking here to confirm... f***king why did I never go to Indo before!!!
Also, like the OT in Singapore or Nana in BKK - what is the core area in Jakarta for staying a few nights (read: close to action and good enough)? Any pointers will be much appreciated.

I believe that in nearly all our discussions, this subject was more or less talked about, maybe not so directly as you put it here. Then there are the clubs in Blok M, such as Topgun, Mybar, etc that have a lot of freelancers. You might pay a bit more, but usually not more than 400k or so.
The two main areas to stay are Lokasari and Blok M. Plenty of choices for low-medium-high end hotels.
Jakarta is not a pretty city, but the ladies can be pretty amazing. If it's scenery you're looking for, go somewhere else.

After reading a couple of the informative reports from ISF, I was ready to hit Jakata on 25 March for a week to screw a few a those Indo girls.

Neither is it Philippines, Angeles City or P Burgos at Manila. Most of the bars and discos were quiet. Only MyBar and one more (opposite MyBar) at Falatehan has some life. Most of the men I saw in the bars are elderly caucasian and a few Indians. The girls range from young twenties to mother of 40s! Good looking ones are rare. One or two. At MyBar some girls can be pretty open. Fondling the crotch and kissing. Men shove their hands inside the ladies' skirts and shirts with ease.
Strangely, I dont see much of these in Thailand or Philippines. But in Singapore can you get a bit of that at Orchard Tower. If you dont mind paying, you get that as part of the 'waitering service' at bars at Roxy Sq, Parkway, Singapore. On the whole I would not recommend Jakarta for the 'fun' of it. I have to agree with these views. I too got JAD2 to take me around Jakarta and got a better understanding of the city. My last FR regarding the ladies I fished from the dating site was 100% true and these were non-pros. Fellow ISG members, I am enjoying more of my trips to Jakarta now is due to the following:
(1) I do my research and read up on the reports posted in ISG before each trip and where needed I "PM" Senior Members for their advice and suggestions;
(2) I paid my tuition fee in my earlier trips and learnt from my mis-adventure. BTW, I am still paying tuition fee (occasionally) but that is the fun of pursuing this hobby of ours;
(3) I am never brassy, bossy or arrogant when trying to get a girl. I always believe in giving respect and in return good things do come my way; and
(4) Being able to speak basic Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.
My humble advise to D Sing is not to give up on Jakarta after one trip. This is a city that grows on you and if you are a willing student, this is (in my opinion) the best city for P4P fun in the world (no punt intended to fans of other "sin" cities.)

To all members who have PM me for the contact numbers or picture of Putri and Tina, I would like to put on record that it is my practice to throw away the prepaid mobile number (together with the contact numbers of the girls) at the airport before I boarded my flight. I have to say that as a whole the Jakarta board is extraordinarily helpful to many who come here. I think that Dorman's post wrt DSing rings truest in terms of explanations. You only have to PM the local seniors to see how helpful they truly are.
I have never been to the Philippines as far as my Home Minister is concerned, there is no country in that region of the world, and I would need seriously substantive reasoning to be able to travel there without a major surveillance team tracking my every movement. I believe that Jakarta is less obvious in exposing its delights hence you may have to look harder - but the gems are there. NB you can find a lot of fool's gold in the process.

Google has done a pretty good job of updating its map of Jakarta (now with street level info). They also allow the creation of customized maps. I have started to create one based on my previous trips to Jakarta and info on the board. Its still in its early stages but you can see the potential benefit. I will continue to update it in preparation for my upcoming trip to Jakarta in 3 weeks. The great thing is once I create it, I can then view it anywhere I can access the internet. Fellow ISG members, I just had a SKYPE meeting with my HQ to determine our business activities for 2nd half of 2009, and I realized that I am scheduled to be in Jakarta in early September for about 10 days. On checking the calender I noted that it is in the middle of the Ramadan month. Now as we all know, that particular month is where the authorities are a bit more tough in enforcing the Law on adult entertainment, more so with the new Law.
My question to members is :
(1) Given the bad timing can I still get some entertainment in places such as Lokasari and Blok M areas?
(2) What about "happy ending" places such as Berlian and Kartika?
Normally I will try to avoid Ramadan in Indonesia but my HQ has scheduled this particular trip around that time.....so I have to make the best of it.
Hope for some pointers for fellow ISG members.

Ramadan is scheduled for August 21 - September 19, 2009 and the "Eid" festival (known as Lebaran in Jakarta) will take place on Sept. 20 and the next few days after that.
As a result, most of the free-standing MPs such as Berlian, Kartika and Maribaya Spa (6th floor of Hotel Melawai) will close around August 18 or 19 and remain closed until after Lebaran, to re-open on or after Sept 25. I believe that "Today Country" in Lokasari Plaza is also closed during that 5 week period - the bonus here is that when TC does re-open, it will feature several fresh young lovelies who have moved from home to the big city to seek their fortunes.
Some MPs that are located inside hotels, such as Hotel Malioboro, Hotel Travel and Alexis Hotel, should remain open through most of Ramadan.
Most of the girls who work in the free-standing spas (such as Kartika) will travel to their home "kampung" (village) for the entire Ramadan/Lebaran period, although typically some of the Maribaya Spa girls work out of rooms at Hotel Melawai for the first three weeks of Ramadan (please read my old posts from 2006 and 2007 on this topic).
Usually some of the bars at Jalan Falatehan in blok M remain open during Ramadan but things are definitely more low-key and low-profile.

How about hitting the dating websites and targeting the non-muslim girls - there are still plenty of them around.... or even the muslim girls whose families are in or very near Jakarta? You have plenty of time to lay the groundwork; now just dedicate 15-20 minutes a day on searching and 30-45 minutes every two or three days to chatting (you could manage with less but let's be conservative here:)) and you should be well in there.

Depending on the business purpose of your trip to Jakarta requesting to reschedule outside of the Ramahdan period is a perfectly plausible request. Its generally accepted that productivity drops significantly during this period due to staff tiredness caused by the fasting and lack of sleep so if your visit involves dealing with the local staff then I'd see a valid reason to do outside of this time period. Also, if your visit involves meetings with government officials this can be difficult during this period so not a totally off the wall request to move forward or after.

Tell HQ they're idiots and demand that they reschedule for a fortnight later.

A couple of points though. All those places you mention above are expensive (e. G. Fm1 is 800rp/hr for the acceptable looking local indos), also many of the cuter gals go on holiday during Ramadan.

Just to add to the Lebaran (Eid ul-Fitri, Id-ul-Fitri, end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting) debate which arises every year, whilst it's not the best time to go to Jakarta it just means you may have to work a little bit harder. There are lot's of reasons not to go at other times - flooding, earthquakes, terrorism, poverty, lateness, corruption, climate, pollution, I don't know why anybody bothers...

MrBill, my trip to Jakarta is usually to meet up with my firm's clients as a form of follow-up on previous consultancy recommendations or implementations. As such I will deal principally with the mid-management and above, including the BOD to update them.
The management and mid-management might be a big more slacking during Ramadan but not the BOD as most of my clients are mainly Indonesian of the non-Muslim category. The few who are Muslim will normally sit in during the meeting and thereafter excuse themselves and not participate in the lunch or if dinner in on the agenda, then the meeting will be scheduled in the late afternoon and thereafter dinner after their day-fasting.
So my best alternative is to find possible P4P source and stick to the original schedule. I am encouraged by some forum members mentioning that the girls might operate outside their normal work premise. TC might still be my possible hunting ground and I will make a bee-line to Top Gun and such.

Depending on the business purpose of your trip to Jakarta requesting to reschedule outside of the Ramahdan period is a perfectly plausible request. Its generally accepted that productivity drops significantly during this period due to staff tiredness caused by the fasting and lack of sleep so if your visit involves dealing with the local staff then I'd see a valid reason to do outside of this time period. Also, if your visit involves meetings with government officials this can be difficult during this period so not a totally off the wall request to move forward or after.

I agree, it's absurd of your HQ to arrange for business meetings for those dates, that would be the equivalent of flying into London for business on the 22nd of December and then wondering why nothing's getting achieved. No one will be available, everything will take five times as long to organise and by the time you're looking to go home transport will be almost unobtainable.
Tell HQ they're idiots and demand that they reschedule for a fortnight later.
Guys, ramadan is not really an issue. I see it that way: all very obvious places that offer p***y are closed and not available, beside these, the show goes on.
I agree that Jakarta doesn't completely shutdown during Ramdan, although the pickings may be slimmer. As I know, some of the places (and I refer mainly to the KTVs) may close for the first few days then are back in business on the 3rd day or so; albeit, sexy, revealing dresses are avoided, and liquor is served in empty Lipovitan bottles, with an actual glass of Lipovitan next to it. Apparently, they claim that the authorities are too dumb to check the bottles once they sniff the glass. :)

Been a while since last dissapointment at Tropical Spa.
For those unfamiliar. All taxi would know Plaza ITC Roxy Mas. Not far from Manas or the northern part of Jakarta. Get in through the only car park entrance and from the parking booth keep going straight and look for 3rd small road to the left, turn into the 3rd one and there you go. Right at the end of the road 50metre away you are there.
As usual, pick up the wrist tag, get changed, sauna and pool down stair and massage girly up on the 2nd. Take your time since all same face, friendly staff as always. When right and ready make your way to the 2nd floor.
Sofa on your left with ST girl- improved quality and lighting was the first thing came to my mind. These are no fuss no bargain style if is what you're looking for. Price came in 2 steps around 180k for the room which you pay before you leave and 190k for the girl which you pay when you're done in the room. Not 100% sure about the price but overall around 380k and I always got this part mixed up since I always order drinks and all but overall fair price.
They now also have body massage among these sofa ladies which you pay some 20k-30k more.
If looking for massage, there will be a digital board right at the counter just infront of the sofa area. Yes digital. The funny thing was it took them very long to get things sorted out with the computer I don't know why they abandon the manual system in the first place. But what the hell.
