Trying to get my senior status with 25 posts, so here's just some random comments on blokm from my experiences of late;
D's Place, back room still alive and active. If you want to get some contacts of good girls, before you arrive, then I think you will really struggle.

She was there cause she liked the band and didn't really like the dance scene like Colosseum etc. So it is possible, but its pretty rare and you might have to go through alot to find them.
My final advice to you is this; most of the working girls in these bars aren't really working girls IMHO. They are opportunists, they go out, find a guy to buy them drinks, have a great time and sometimes they go home with a guy, usually are great in bed and love to have sex, always give GFE (Indo chicks are some of the best lovers in the world). They work days jobs and might do this once or twice a week. Okay so they might want a little cash to help out. Why not. FredOk Frd, I'll give this a shot as HHM did earlier. He's both right and wrong in some aspects so I'll try and clear this up and answer the best that I can, as it looks like you're looking more in my area of the local market than most of the guys here. I am approaching my half century with a reasonable amount of resistance both physically and mentally, so we're probably not that far apart. Perhaps a modicum less good looking than yourself, but I manage.
HHM is correct that there are distinct layers in Indonesian society, but like anywhere else, there are plenty of grey areas. The extremely snobby and exclusive families are in the topmost tier and very particular whom they go out with. However, there will always be women (even at this level) looking for fun, but VERY DISCRETE fun;). That's an area you might be able to exploit, as they do look for foreign men so there's little chance of news leaking out. The difficulty is in meeting them, as they are extremely cliquish when out and about in town, and paranoid that they may be spotted by someone else. Your best chance is if they are going around with the their gay friend shopping or in the clubs. Your approach should be through him; nonetheless it isn't easy. That doesn't even cover the way they get to your hotel room if they finally decide they like you.
If however you aim a little bit lower, you can find all sorts of women in this target age group who are well educated and much more open to meet. They can be anyone from office workers to doctors, lawyers or bankers. Since you have time, do join some of the dating websites and set up a profile. HHM has suggested DIA but there are many others much more preferable to my eyes. I haven't trawled on DIA for ages but use a few others presently which seem to do the job rather nicely. Since your post is virtually the same request as Fred's request, I strongly encourage you to read the posts below that were written in response to his request.
However, I'm confused by one of your sentences. Do you really have absolutely no time to visit any bars at all in the evening? Assuming that it's not because of laziness, there are several ways to find girls quickly and have some fun while doing so.
If you are staying at the Shangri-La Hotel, then just walk downstairs to the BATS bar. If you're staying at the Mulia Hotel, then just visit CJ's. Other hotels (I. E. Ritz-Carlton) have bars / clubs as well. In all of these places, you can easily find female company within a few minutes of entering.
You could also try your hotel's massage service, although that could get pricey.
If you're walking through a mall, keep an eye out for girls. You could easily swap cell numbers and / or arrange for the young lady to meet you later. You could also flirt with cashiers / counter girls / waitresses / etc. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to pick up girls if you're a friendly foreigner.
There are several dating sites, such as DIA, that you can access to line up girls before you even arrive - they've been discussed extensively here, RTFF.
Every man who visits Jakarta, no matter how busy they are, should make time to visit one of the saunas, especially early in their stay. My personal favorite is Kartika, which offers a body-to-body slippery massage (even better is a 2-girl session), but there are many other places that are also good: Alexis (high-end) , Malioboro (mid-to-high end) , Maribaya (lower end, but where almost every girl is in your age bracket) , Hotel Travel, Hotel Classic, Sumo Shiatsu (in the Kelapa Gading area) and many others. I've been to DIA at your advice and it works perfectly. I made clear what I'm looking for (but not to explicit) and get enough reactions from girls that meet my expectation. Only reason was that I was actually looking for more than a HJ (which is as far as I'm aware the only thing on the menu in Delta). It was still on the shortlist, since it simply offers solid above average quality from my experience and usually has very decent facilities for enjoying some pool / sauna time before or after the massage. During my overall trip I definitely plan to visit (a) Delta at least once. Maybe the newly opened one in Bali.
Since I haven't been in a while I can only estimate the cost. If other members know better, please correct me. I would estimate that for 3 sessions including HJ you should be at around 600k, so on the higher end for massage places in Jakarta.
If anyone else has any recommendations for my next stop in Jakarta, they are more than welcome.
Just a quick comment on my below reports:
I don't know how it happened, but it looks like the order in which they are posted has somehow gotten turned around. Should now be read starting with Number 3, then Number 2, then number 1. That's the correct chronological order and helps the transition in the reports be more understandable.
I haven't trawled on DIA for ages but use a few others presently which seem to do the job rather nicely. I don't put any BS in my profile and am pretty straightforward without being overly obvious. It is a very fine edge to walk on, but if you strike the right balance, you can get rewarded rather prettily. It is advantageous to have all the chatting tools to communicate: BBM (still very much preferred as they don't have to give you their phone number to chat) Whatsapp, Viber, Line, FB, Skype, Yahoo Messenger (although less utilised now) etc. As HHM mentioned, I do know normal women who go to CJs (usually on ladies night) for the band, but they are much in the minority there. Thanks advance guys.It's known as the "Stadium" and is located four alleys south of the intersection of Jalan Mangga Besar and Jalan Hayam Wuruk. Its front door is approx a 50-meter walk from the "Mangga Besar" stop on TransJakarta Line #1 (the main north-south bus line that goes from Blok M in the south to Kota in the north, with popular stops for Sarinah, Plaza Indonesia, Sarinah Plaza and the MONAS monument). This area is just south of Kota and north of all of the other places I mentioned (MONAS, Sarinah, Plaza Indonesia, etc.).
Three alleys to the north is the famous Kartika Spa where one can enjoy a body-to-body slide massage.
Both the Stadium and Kartika have been written about extensively. RTFF. There is at least some security risk from going to the Stadium, especially later at night when the place could get busted, or you'll find a girl who's high on ecstasy or a similar drug.
If you go in two week's time, you'll be ok, but if your trip gets delayed, please keep in mind that the fasting month of Ramadan begins around June 28th, so the Stadium, Kartika and most of the other saunas will be closed from June 25th onwards, to reopen in August.

I don't post here nearly often enough and for that I'm ashamed. You all give fantastic information that I've used to my advantage frequently.
This isn't really a 'report' per se, since I didn't partake in any carnal delights. However, after copious amounts of intoxicating substances last night at Stadium and Crown, a very helpful lad took me and my pals to a place I've not heard too much of on these boards: Club 36.

I wrote in the hotels section (where I reviewed Kemang Icon, Kemang FavHotel, Thamrin Condotel) and commented that Kemang was probably a mistake for what I was after (it sounds we have similar goals). Kemang Favhotel was not my cup of tea but for the price was good. It was my third proper mongering trip this time for the first three nights I opted for Harris FX Surdiman which is in the Senayan area close to Senayan City and Senayan Plaza, walk to Red Square and a quick cab ride to CJs at Hotel Mulia. I stayed in FX on my second trip and found it was a good central spot. A couple of cafes for the interviews and also some good local eating places and on level 2 some nice restaurants. The entry to the hotel was also very discrete as it's in the mall. Most of my dates worked around there and some more also worked around Central, so Thamrin. FX was a good price for what you get. $88AUD and previous trip I stayed at Pullman Thamrin which was excellent and I got for a great discount rate of $130AUD.
With Kemang I was thinking it sounded good because of the bars and restaurants all in walking distance which anywhere else in Jakarta you can't really do. It's always a taxi ride to the next place. But you're right, it's nowhere near where most of my dates worked and definitely the opposite side to where most lived too. Having my time again maybe I'd even try to stay in a more respectable hotel up North. A place where I'll do a bit of research on for my next trip.
As for the lunch date, try to hit up some girls. There are plenty of students looking for a bit of fun (I got a 20yr old) and also girls who work in malls therefore have their days off during the week as they work on weekends. If the girl is keen enough (and they often are) they will actually take the day off from work to see you.
I do line up some extras should some girls cancel but I've not had a cancellation yet. I figure after them (and me at times) investing so much time on whatsapp they are very keen to meet. From my previous two trips I have a couple of "regulars" who I keep warm and do not commit to a time with. I was in Jakarta a couple of weeks ago and went to Top Gun. It was the first time in about 10 years. I remember it being a bit trashy and depressing. Anyway, I'm not sure whether I hit it on a good night or whether things have changed, but I liked it a lot. They had a good band playing both English and Indonesian tunes and a few of the women were really hot, like 9's. D's on the other hand sucked. I'm not sure about My Bar, as I left around 1:00 AM and things were just getting started.
BATS had been my favorite, but this time both the women and the band left a lot to be desired.
No price information -- I actually pulled a "freebie" from Top Gun who had her own almost-new SUV which her German boyfriend paid for. She was pretty wasted and put a dent in it on the way to my hotel. Fortunately insurance will pay for most of the damage. The reason "freebie" is in quotation marks is because I paid for the deductible.
She wasn't the most attractive at Top Gun but the woman was insatiable, she kept me up about 8 hours straight fucking. She couldn't believe I could keep up with her but she didn't know about the Levitra. I wouldn't have gone with her except she pulled me over in the club while she was dancing, stuck her tongue down my throat, and told me she liked me and would go with me for free. It's been about 15 years since the last time that happened.
I didn't take anyone from BATS, even though I went there twice.

I definitely would have gotten another Jakarta After Dark tour, as the first is my outstanding memory of mongering in Indonesia, but had a pretty tough work schedule. I agree with MDII, the wahid hasyim area offers many medium priced hotels, is in a central location. Close to the popular malls which is good to meet lunch dates in. And is not far from some of the hotel bars. Taxi ride to the Blok will be 30-45mins at 11pm and to the Kota strip (north) less.
The Kosenda, on the west side of Thamrin is a small boutique hotel, it has a small but outstanding rooftop bar on the 9th floor. Great for pre-dinner drinks with a date. Rooms at the Kosenda are very modern and funky, I highly recommend the Kosenda, although it isat1m a night (but I paid 700k once as a walk-in rate). The Akmani has a pretty good outdoor bar as well. The Ibis, Neo etc will beat500-700 in that area.
There are lower level hotels such as the paragon, Cemara etc. But they feel very local, often smokey smelly rooms, and the breakfast's suck.
And also well worth an honorable mention is the Morrissey hotel. It sometimes has specials on agoda at 700k a night. The rooms are also modern and funky, service is excellent. And best of all the Italian resto downstairs, called 'ocha & bella' will impress all level of dates. Their pizzas are the best in the city. Its modern Italian, with a band and classy decor.
Morrissey is located on Wahid Hasyim and jl Jaksa. You can avoid Jl Jaksa altogether if its not your scene.
As a side note. I quite like Jaksa, but many don't. Each his own. If your over mongering and just feel like drinking 30k big bintangs in non-aircon bars and like to mingle with a mix of crusty expats, africans, low level hookers, english school teachers and backpackers. Then this is a fun option.

Many thanks for all your words of wisdom to silent mongers like me. Now my turn to share back.
For those into the Blok M kind of meat, an interesting option is the bar at the Mandarin Oriental. Called MO bar. But only on Tuesdays when there is a ladies night. Drinks for ladies are free all night until midnight with the result that a lot of ladies get completely shit faced and are easy pickings. 95% are working girls and 80% are middle aged and unattractive but you do come across the occasional gem. I started chatting up a pretty young spinner from Bandung. Apparently she had a friend in the city. Who was much less attractive. And came down to Jakarta every Tuesday evening to take advantage of the free drinks at MO bar. She would then stay overnight with her friend. She was happy to come back with me to "see my room" at the Mandarin Oriental and we ended up banging on the couch doggy style while both enjoying the Jakarta skyline view from the French windows. She then asked if she could stay over and I was happy to oblige. Woke up middle of the night with her lips on my rod. I will use it as a guide to explore the areas outside of the Manga Bessar / Bloc M / Hotel Bar and Red Square freelance axis and report back to the forum on my findings. Have been studying Bahasa so that will hopefully help.
Any pointers on particular areas to focus on much appreciated (have RTFF, but again info is 99% on the areas mentioned above, which makes up only a fraction of the market.

One of the guards said there was to be a change of management. Tommy W was no longer interested in overseeing the facility, mamasan mentioned she had problem bringing in new girls. So it seemed to be on its last legs anyway.
Would always recommend Kings Cross in Kelapa Gading, one of Tommy Winata's better managed joints. My taxi driver couldn't find or recall it basically because my pronunciation was poor. They locals called it Kink Cross not KingS Cross. The contract girls at 300 000 Rp seem better than the freelance ones at twice the price. My girl (who my pal selected for me through a "contes") said the club is only planning to close for 5 days during the end of fasting month. So it looks as if the better protected clubs will be shut for a week only which is looking good for July.

When I was there in February for a few days that s the only brothel I had time to check out and I had the same exprience than OmBule on this and was quoted 300 k by the papasan.

Great read indeed, the academic findings on North Jakarta. It says it is 10 years old. 2004. I can see some info still holds value, some not. Venues like 1001 have disappeared altogether.
BTW I politely disagree with the level of research, he could have plugged a bit deeper? Like, the "uncontrolled train tracks" at Jatinegara and the women sex workers, he refers to. I guess about 75% of the sex workers lined up around the tracks in Jatinegara are technically not women. They do dress like women, that is true.

Since the trouble in Thailand I desided to give Jakarta a try. Got in late yesturday and had a problem with with my safe at the hotel so was only able to go to M block which was near my hotel. If this is the worst area then I going to love it when I go to BATS tonite. Was able to hook up with a short cutie that night and got the number of a dark skin girl with a big booty and chest which I met in the evening. Thanks for vitamin v I should have another good time.

I'm actually a veteran of Jakarta itself, but not of the mongering scene. In all honesty I've never done it before, but seeing as everyone seems to have positive experiences I thought it would be best to give it a whizz.
I did try once going to. I think it was hotel classic? One of the hotels where on the top floor there is basically walls lined with women and mamasans just waiting. It was pushy as fuck and I felt really uncomfortable (I'm a really tall bule so I stick out in general anyway). I did once try Jl. Felatehan but that too felt a little odd to me. I'm unsure of it was just 'when' I went or where, so if anyone could clarify for me that would help.
I suppose it doesn't help that I actually don't have office hours (self-employed basically) and my 'needs' arise pretty much anytime / anywhere. Don't suppose there are places that would cater for such a thing? Even tried finding professional girlfriends (I think you call them P4 P) as I am fine with overly-clingy (prefer it) but really have no idea where / what / how.
The only two things that really do count against me is being really tall (even though my bahasa is decent it still intimidates a lot of women, WTS or otherwise) and that I'm a tad too sensitive to facial expressions / body language. Basically if I can see they really aren't into it for whatever reason (uncomfortable / shy / whatever) then that is an instant sex-drive killer. From Mandarin Oriental bar on ladies night to MS giving a brief guide on page 4 (as it reads currently). He was having lunch and dinner dates too. If you want a tour of Jakarta after dark, get in touch with the man himself. Jakarta After Dark or JAD. He can give you a run down of options and inform you of more places than most of us have heard of. It might be the best way for you to spend money to save money in the end.
Incidentally it's the funniest thing to hear that a bule can't find a girl in Jakarta. Seriously? Just cast off that mantle of uncertainty and be more forward. They'll literally be falling into your lap. Malls and shops are your buffet table, whether it's shop assistants, sales promotion girls or even girls wandering around. Catch someone's eye and smile. If they smile back, move in and offer a coffee / meal / whatever;). Over the coffee, make your move. It's all a matter of putting yourself out there. Incidentally, you don't have to young and good looking; I'll be hitting 50 this year, I'm not a bule and have no problems. So it should be a breeze for you.

I have RTFF fairly extensively but it is rather difficult to translate text on a screen to something I have never really had to do before; hence my rather clumsy / ham-fisted approaches so far.
The only issues on my being bule is the whole height scaring some, and I don't deny that I do get attention and don't really fear being rebuked as such, but it is more what kind of women frequent where. It seems to be a general mish-mash though as to what and where. I've had a few lokal pacars in the past and goddamn they were awesome nymphs for the most part; really sad that those ended (left country; I'm in / out a lot) but yeah just trying to cut through that whole dating shtick this time around.

So, gave Top Gun and the's a whizz.
Personally I found a lot of the girls in Top Gun oddly cold. Standing against the wall and not really engaging in much eye contact; most looked bored. However in saying that there were some serious gems (energetic and pretty to boot), which of course were snapped up pretty damn quick.
Went over to the's (apparently they do some sort of card raffle thing for a free visit to the back room? Didn't quite follow) and oddly enough I found the girls far sluttier / active in general. I got cornered by someone to the VIP room I actually was rather keen on but then three of her friends wanted to 'stand guard' and that put me off, asked for a little more privacy and that apparently started some bitching between the girls so I had to leave.
Went back to Top Gun (these two bars are opposite each other) and was eyed up by a girl who had a pretty enough face and acted interest enough for me to give it a whirl (no English really, mostly bahasa). Took her back and she was actually trying fairly hard to be accommodating but as we got to talking I noted scars on her wrist and It went south from there. Basically a lovely chat, I wanted to make her smile, and she left with 200 k (not out of pity or pre-arranged bargaining, the night's experience was actually worth $20 to me).
Overall the night wasn't really wasted (even though I didn't get what I set out for) and both places had their pros / cons. Experiences are experiences, and I enjoyed it nonetheless. The's actually got me 'aroused' and I seriously considered just getting blown in the VIP room, I think it was the general energy, but yeah just didn't happen. The energy in Top Gun was rather hard for me to pin down (I actually found myself enjoying the band) and it really felt like I would have to wade through a lot to find a gem. Again there were some there, but they were already taken.
Haha, if the two guys I saw outside TG read this I'm sorry one of you got the ugly one, but holy shit your mate took home a right stunner.
Will probably try BATS / CJ's next (I think they are supposed to be the higher class bars).

If you are young and tall, you are wasting your time at places like Top Gun with those kampung girls. Go to X2 at Plaza Senayan, Immigrant at plaza indonesia or DragonFly or even Red Square. Those girls will throw themselves at a tall young guy, they speak English, and they are far better looking.
I was planning on my maiden trip to Jakarta from June 28th to July 1st. I just found out that will be the start of Ramadan. Are all of the venues going to be closed? I am looking to try spas like Travel and classic as well as some if the mid range bars near Blok M. I need to figure out if I should postpone for a visit letter in the year.

I arrived in Jakarta on a Sunday, stay at Win hotel in blok M area 405 k stardard room. I wanted to follow in the footsteps of a gentleman who was quite successful hunting at Blok M Plaza, all I can say is kudos to him as he succeeded where I failed miserably. I went to the mall at 5-6 pm and I didn't see many attractive women, further I didn't see any that seemed to be on the "game" with the circling behaviour seen in the Phil. So after 1-2 hrs I gave up. If he can give some extra pointers like time and days best for hunting that would be appreciated. Next I Checked out the's and Top Gun, this was around 9 pm, the talent was terrible mainly oldies or fatties, maybe all up 10-12 ladies, beers were 50 k each, had one in each bar, no dancers at the's. Also stuck my head into My Place, Everest, Sportsman, seems the only guys there were the owners and their friends def no ladies.
I was told Sundays X2 is closed so I went to Red Square, again totally dead, 3 guys no ladies and a drink was 150 k, quite expensive. I was told if you are young and tall, you should do quite well here as the ladies throw themselves as such men, I am slighty above averqge in age, height and looks, so I don't know if I fit the description but at 150 k a drink, I wonder if my total costs for scoring a lady would be under what I would pay for a lady outright, even if I was "tall" and "young".
Next I went to Cj, again 140 k for a beer, saw plenty of attractive ladies but nothing outstanding, and they were in the mid to late 20's range, but also plenty of average looking ladies also, but talling to one of the patrons he told me he just negotiated with one of the better looking women and she wanted 1.5 J Short time, no willing to drop, this was about 1 pm. I mainly went for observational purposes, so end of might spent 500 k in drinks and taxi with no results.

Monday I moved over to the Kalpa Gading area stayed at BnB hotel 430 k, first I went to Sumo massage, was told there was two category the 450 k and the 950 k range, definately some lookers in the 950 k range and 1 possible in the 450 k range however I don't partake, next I went to MTR2, the standard girls was 330 k, the freelancers was 500 k, some lookers in the 500 k range, but I spotted a new gem in the 330 k cat, she is new, 20 yrs old slim and tall, in the bedroom, BBBJ, GFE kissing and daty. Cost 330 k plus my drink 30 k + tips 100 k however she didn't ask for a tip. Total 460 k.
I then went to Kings Cross, 60 k cover charge before 7 pm after its 75 k refundable if taking a girl. Went to the ground floor two category of girls 335 k and 500 k+ range, plenty of attractive girls in both category. Next I went to level 2 which is the massage rooms plenty of attractive girls in the 500 kish price. The 3rd level with the dancers the LD are 50 k each, 2 LDs and you get a quick lapdance, in my view not worth it, the dancers are 1.2 j pretty hot but not sure if they worth 4 times the 335 k girls, same with the import girls thereabouts 1.2 j but they looked pretty average to me, def not worth the price. End of the night drinks+ meals + cover charge 300 k as I didn't take a girl.

Today I explored the area, heard there was 3 full service massage places.

The don't have photos on site but can choose girls from their website, the place is a bit hard to find, total cost for plus plus massage was quoted as 500 ish, can't choose girl from line up have to look at website and record number.

Here the girls are 350 k, only about 4-5 girls shown in the photo album only one looks possible, in my mind not worth the risk given proximity to other more popular establishments.

So, tried Tuesday night at MO Bar.
About this I can only categorically say that there is a 'far' higher quality of women running around. Most of them really just wanted some fun, some wanted 'long-term', and only a few just wanted taxi fare (100 k) as a form of compensation. I was perhaps a tad too brash / direct in asking them if they were pelacur (I don't like beating around the Bush) and did scare a few off but those that stayed seem keen. The night was even such that when I already had more than enough woman to shake a stick at I was still nudged on my way to pay the bill by other things.
Might have something to do with me being young and tall, but it was a fucking welcome experience regardless. Kudos to the man that found out about ladies night at MO Bar. If anyone knows more like this that'd be brilliant.
I'm posting this more to express enjoyment at a specific part of the mongering scene that seems to fit my bill (half-way between straight pay-for-play and women who are interested in bule).
I did try red square but the two times I went it was literally standing room only and no real capacity to sit and enjoy / scan the scene. May try immigrant / X2 next. Thanks for that Smoothy.

Please keep in mind that the fasting month of Ramadan begins around June 28th, so the Stadium, Kartika and most of the other saunas will be closed from June 25th onwards, to reopen in August.".
In fact, most of the spas and MPs may shut down by June 23rd, with the girls leaving town to return to their home villages for 5-6 weeks, which might severely impact your evening activities.
Some of the higher-end hotel spas, such as Hotel Alexis and Hotel Malioboro, should still be open. I'm not sure about Hotel Travel (not far from Harmoni) or Hotel Classic, but in general the mongering scene will be much quieter than you might had expected.

The problem is not Jakarta, young jedi. The problem is you. I second MDII's observations. And would add that if you start getting drunk on your ass you'll be much more successful, assuming you don't get rolled by your date or your taxi driver.
Following up on your question about ladies' nights, try C.J.'s on Wednesdays. The women get in free, although I think they have to pay for their drinks. When I was staying at the Mulia it was worth checking out. Also the bar in the Ritz Carlton used to have something similar on Friday's, and may still. It was much more hit and miss at the Ritz though.

I'll repost a comment I made about Ramadan a year or two ago.
"First day off Ramadan, middle day off the four weeks, and the first day of Eid tends to be the main problem days when most places are closed. BATS is open during these "quiet" days, and although all the lights are on and the music is subdued, there is a small number of girls. There is no cover charge for those three days so you can go in, have a look and leave pretty quickly if nothing catches your eye. But be aware, the pickings are slim, and tend to be the hard core girls.".

Last month we migrated the forum to a new, more powerful server.
The latest version of PHP on the new server included several subtle changes that were not compatible with our programming code.
These differences were so subtle that it took several days for the anomalies to be identified. Once we identified that we had a code compatibility issue, my programmer and my server administrator worked diligently for several days to comb through all of the forum's code searching for and modifying our code to work with the new version of PHP.
One anomaly was that a small number of posts were "eaten" by the system. We believe it was limited to posts containing a very specific, very little used character that we believe was either a hyphen or a semicolon. We're not exactly sure because our subsequent code modifications fixed the problem, thus preventing any additional examples of the anomaly.
I trust that this resolves your confusion.
Any member whose post content was inadvertently not published is welcome to re-post their original content.
In the meantime I'm going to delete these empty posts so I don't have to continue answering this question.

I'm in Jakarta next week (only been a few times and never had time to go out. And will hook up with a local student I've met before. I've just arrived back home after 7 nights in Jakarta. It's my first proper FR so hope it will be fun to read. Just a bit of background on myself and preferences first. I'm a 40 year old Aussie guy with passable looks, clean cut, and reasonable fitness, in summary, average. After many encounters in different countries I prefer the full GFE versus the spas or brothels. I try to target 28 to 35 year old office worker type girls, ones which can hold a decent conversation with me in English but are not too inquisitive. This usually means that they are divorced single mothers often with current Bule partners or have had them in the past. As far a physical appearance, I tend to go for the more average build with curves. Even if there is a bit of excess, then I do enjoy as I'm getting older and prefer the limousine versus the Ferrari ride these days.
I have a mate (male friend from school days) in Jakarta and this has proved to be a good "excuse" with the girls to move on to my next date. I've used DIA and IndoCupid before with success but this trip I stuck to DIA.
My strategy, which I'm sure has been used in the past by other members here is as follows -.
1) DIA Profile description of who you are should read that you are polite, respectful, friendly, and open minded and are looking for someone similar. I've found that mentioning "open minded" is more subtle than asking for NSA so it works well. Either the girl will know what "open minded" means or will ask to confirm.
2) Many is better than one I've found that in general some of the girls are clingy and that even myself if I find a good match then I'm likely to see her again. In fact in my previous trip I spend 4 nights with one girl. Well, that's not really what I set out to do. So, try not to stick with one girl, you can have fun with many more.
3) Lunch Date and Dinner Date I tried to squeeze 2 dates into one day. It did leave me very tired but I managed this for a few days. The "lunch or dinner with my mate" excuse was used many times to move on to the next date but make sure you mention this to her in advance of your date. She won't mind.
Now, here is my diary of how things went.
Saturday.
After some drinks at FX Harris Hotel Surdiman with my mate we headed to CJs. It was better than I expected with a good band and lots of working girls. They were not mingling looking for business but were there should the mood take us all lined up at the back. After a couple of overpriced beers we headed to Blok M. I've asked the same questions & spent too many wasted hours hoping to be as lucky as the guy seems to be on any given day. I conclude that Blok M Plaza is absolutely not a good hunting ground one any day, or indeed at any particular location after trudging the many flor again & again! Tbh you'd probably have more luck just spending a few hours in one of the ground floor coffee shops. But is still would not be a sound investment of your time. I'm not discrediting the reporter. Simply reporting what I've found on the several occasions that I've gone in search! Forget Blok M Plaza is my advice.It might also be conceivable that he only posts when he's successful in finding a very presentable cewek, and omits the many times that he only gets what you guys have been seeing. As you say, it's all a matter of the time you have and what the opportunity cost is to you. That's why I like to prearrange meetings, so I don't waste time.

As written several times in the past few weeks, Ramadan begins on June 28th, and the MPs (Kartika, Maribaya, Berlian, etc.) and similar places will be shut down by June 25th, maybe one or two days earlier, with the ladies heading back to their home villages until early August.
Hotel spas such as Alexis and Malioboro should be open during the first three weeks of Ramadan, but will keep a lower profile. Not sure about Classic or Travel. Nightclubs will also keep a lower profile, with less girls working and available.

Jakarta is a chaotic city with a myriad of options for P4 P.
There is no best place to go but rather, it will depend on what you are looking for.
If you need to release, simply head to places like Maliboro, Alexis etc. These are your bath houses which you can find in places like Prague, Warsaw.
Alexis is not cheap, but nice ambience and good range of girls.
Those who prefer to get a drink, scan and hunt should go to Red Square or CJ. To me, better quality of girls.
Blok M has bad quality, your village girls and for those who just want a cheap fuck and don't mind on quality. You can head there. This place is usually for foreigners.
For those with the dough, there are also models and actress for hire but the damage is about 10 m rupiah for an overnight.

MD II.You are right, 10 m is lower end, the mean rate would be about 15 m rupiah /12 hours. But then again, these rates are usually inflated as some model / actress have been paid huge bucks.

In your case, it'll be even more fun. You may legally get to sleep with women 1/3rd your age and 1/3rd your weight! (don't be offended, I'm older than you and weigh almost as much as you).
The Blok M places should be open until at least 1 am, same with BATS and CJ's, except during Ramadan (starts last week of June).
In addition to Hotel Classic and Travel, I'd also recommend Hotel Malioboro (mid-priced) and Hotel Alexis (higher-priced) as hotel spas.
If you have time, try the body-to-body massage at Kartika Spa, except they usually don't accept customers after 9 pm (since the massage lasts an hour and they close by 10:30 pm). Kartika is located in the first alley south of the intersection of Jalan Hayam Wuruk and Jalan Mangga Besar (see attached map).
Since you're on a tight time schedule and on a short leash, if you can afford it, I highly recommend booking a night time tour with Jakarta After Dark (he's a member and an advertiser here, go to the Classified Ads section and go to the oldest / last page, his ad can be found there) www jakartaafterdark dot com.
JAD can make sure you find what you're looking for, plus he can help with advice for late-night visits at your hotel room. IMHO money well spent (many other pooters here have also stated this).

Just got back from a week in Jakarta. Background info. I have been a couple of times but never really for long to explore. Just a night out here and there. I'm 28 year old bule, somewhat good looking but shy and like to drink a lot. I travelled with a 29 year old fair skinned Indian friend on this trip for his first time in indo. All of mine this time were free, and about half of his. I'll include some of his experiences and prices that I can remember.
Monday - 2 am flight from Manila. We are both buggered so I organise a girl from whatsapp at Manila airport to check into the hotel for me and wait for me there. I first asked her to meet once I arrive for a drink but she can't travel after 10 pm so told her to check in for me which was absolutely fine by me to skip the drinks. Had a nice sesh and she was off to work in the morning.
Tuesday.
Staying at all seasons thramin, which I can recommend, its around 740 k I think, Accor or Agoda has the lowest rate. Nice new room. And 10 min walk to grand Indonesia and a short cab to call the central clubs. Had a nice breakfast on the roof top while waiting for this mornings date and the indian to wake up.
Morning date came around straight to room and after abit of work got naked, I had been chatting to her for awhile. She wanted to do sightseeing but I needed rest. Got the job done and around 1 pm the indian was awake and girl went home so I could spend time with him.

Just been to this place. Pretty hard to find if you don't know where your going. Just ask around.
Club is on the 7th floor. 2 rooms 1 big main room and the other smaller with dancers who come around offering you to buy shots for them in return for a bit of lap dance action.
'Chemical enhancements' and 'girls' are readily available. Drinks are expensive. 126,000 for a Corona beer if I recall correctly. Music pretty good. A bit on the harder / faster side.
Ladies all around. Best know how to speak the local Bahasa. But I managed ok with only speak English. Enjoyable experience!.

Traffic in Jakarta is a nightmare mostly at peak hour. Taxis are cheap but chances are youll be stuck in traffic jams during the day.
Cheaper and sometimes better options the Transjakarta bus or an OJEK which are the guys on the motorcycles. The bus has a dedicated lane and the OJEKS can weave in and around traffic jams but its not for the faint hearted!!
So yeah. I've enjoyed Jakarta this trip. I didn't venture to the south sorry. So no comment on that. Maybe save till next trip.
Jakarta. A great place to have fun if you know where to look. And for the most part cheap too.
Highly recommend it. I'l be back!

On a separate note, it's a shame that you didn't try to get out a bit to check out other places. You were a 5-minute (late night time!) Blue Bird taxi cab ride away from BATS (at the Shangri-La Hotel) to the south and Hotel Malioboro to the north, both places would have been open late at night. And you could have tried some mall-hunting at Plaza Indonesia/EX and Grand Indonesia - you might have picked up a freebie or near-freebie!

But that area is a long drive to BlokM, if your wanting to goto Maribaya for a quickie after work then forget it. At 5 pm it will take over 2 hrs to get there. Actually might be closer to 3 hrs at 5 pm, and at least 1. 5-2 hrs back. If you do decide to go there, then stay in BlokM and goto one of the many Japanese resto bars for a ramen and beers to pass by the hours until the traffic dies down.
If you goto blokM later in the night, say after 10 pm, when the freelancer bars are happening, then it might be 1 hr each way on a good run with an honest taxi driver.
Depends a little where your staying of course as well.

I am new to Jakarta. Arrived here to work in mid-June in the provinces.

By the way, backpackers who stay at backpacker-budget facilities (such as Jalan Jaksa in Jakarta) may find it difficult to get working girls to go back to their rooms with them, unless of course you find a girl who's working Jalan Jaksa itself or in some of the lower-end places (such as Kali Jodo which may not be a safe destination for a foreigner / first-time-visitor.

Big thanks to all for the tons of valuable info over the years. Long time lurker here, first time trip-report-contributor. Guilty I know. Rested longer than I meant to and didn't make it to BATS until midnight. My hotel ATM didn't take my cards, and Shangra La hotel ATM was out-of-service. Concierge told me about 2nd ATM on premises but following his directions just took me to BATS. The band was in full force and the bar was crowded. I ended up sleeping through the afternoon after learning that Classic, Travel etc were closed for the day. Had late Saturday dinner (yum, can't get enough of that stuff!) and I was off to CJs. Taxi in Jarkata is very cheap one of the cheapest in Asia but I advice you to take only Blue bird or silver bird cab avoid taxi that don't use meter many taxi driver will try to scam you, if you travel from Kota to Blok M it should be about 40k that is about 3.5 USD but at late night there is a surcharge but traffic is light.

Tempus / Ritz Carlton isn't known as a good pickup spot. You may get a possible pickup there but not guaranteed. Also, likely to be expensive.
There are a few escort services advertised in Jakarta but so far I haven't found it good enough to recommend.
If you don't mind going out to pick up someone. The Senayan area bars and BATS at Shangri-La are the nearest hunting grounds. Blok M (Jalan Falatehan, the sports bars there) is also reasonably near.

Especially notable in taxi fares.If you're paid in foreign currency or change into Rupiah, it wouldn't have any negative effect since the currency depreciation worked in your favor. Compared to Bangkok and other places inflation hasn't really reared its ugly head that much. For example, my fare to my usual destinations still costs the same as it did in 2011 when I take taxi companies Taxiku or Rosalina. My plate of soto ayam still costs the same among other dishes. The rent for my centrally-located apartment has only inched up 2% over a three-year period which is fine.
The only thing that's risen significantly is the price of import chics at Malio / Bunker / etc from 1.750.000 to 2.000.000 and upwards. And places like Classic and Travel and King Cross from 275 to 350 and 300 to 350 and 375 to 450 respectively.
Another thing I noticed is the girls are getting greedier when it comes to tipping and gone are the days when you'd shoot a nice load bareback and get 2 shots for 30 or 50. These days they need at least 100 or 150 and you probably won't be getting a second shot.
In freelancer places it's totally supply and demand and depends how desperate the girl is that night. I still get 700 at Blok M bars and 1.000.000 at CJ's / BATS these days (short time although some of them do end up staying long time).

So many travel guides and websites still insist that the only trustworthy Jakarta taxis are Bluebird and Silver Bird that I'm sure a lot of newcomers will take nothing else, even if it means paying the premium for the latter.
I can't remember any bad experiences with any of the big taxi companies -- BB Group, Express, Putra, Transcab, Taxiku, Gamya etc. The ones to watch out for are the older, rather more battered cars that tend to come out after dark, often with colors and logos that look like the main companies.
Also: newbies should know that whenever traffic is bad, the busway can be much quicker (not to mention cheaper) than any cab. For example, between North Jakarta and Blok M, which is a straight shot on the bus.

As you refer to Tempus, I guess you are staying in the one at Mega Kuningan? Mistere used to be a happening place at times, not always, like Bats or CJ's. Hi LA Guy. I don't think it's possible to answer your Qs. I stated why I like Maribaya, but I should have / could have added that, after 8 or more years, I don't go to Tulip anymore -- and wander over the Mango or Snow White instead. (Both Nestle and Nong were "friends" of mine at Tulip.) I think Tulip has gone downhill, which makes responding to you even more difficult.
I also think that trying to compare Jakarta shops to Bangkok MPs -- or Manila, or Phnom Penh, etc. -- is also pointless. You play the hand you're dealt, and play in the city where you are. If you're lining up a mongering trip, too many other variables are also in play. Personally, I'd go to Bali as a first choice, with Bangkok tied with Jakarta next. And Manila on the list.

Tempus disco closed down a few years ago and wasn't a good pick up spot even when it was open. The little bar outside of it is still open for salsa and tango dancing on special nights, but it's not a pick up spot at all. My experience (as one who is prone to getting a bit car sick from bad driving) is the Silver Birds have better drivers (on average), and the cars give much more comfortable drives than the others, with the possible exception of White Horse. A well-maintained Mercedes with automatic transmission (as many Silver Birds are) give smoother rides than the manual transmission less comfortable cars used by Blue Bird and Express (some of which are a bit beat up, but to be clear only some). And from what I gather Silver Birds are only about 50 percent more expensive than Blue Birds (once one gets past the initial flag drop rate, which is only slightly more than a dollar USA). All told, Silver Birds are one of the best taxi bargains in the world IMHO.

I didn't comment on or suggest the Silver Bird taxis got you to your destination faster than the others. They just are much more comfortable vehicles with on average more experienced and better drivers.

There's a few good reasons to use a Silverbird, some covered by others already:
- no line at the airport terminal (whichever terminal you are using).
- More space for bags.
- Better drivers, which often does translate into a faster trip through less hesitant driving, a car that can do 120 kmh+ when possible, and more shortcuts and knowledge of traffic areas to avoid.
- Smoother ride, better seats - you can often spend 1 1/2 hours plus in the taxi.
- Unless you want to wait an eternity at Shangrila for whatever clapped out taxi they can find on the street on a Saturday night, better get a Silverbird. This can also be applicable at Hyatt, Ritz and often Mulia hotels.
The disadvantage of course is the price. Expect 250,000 plus fares from airport to Senayan area.
Many other taxi companies are reliable, and have been mentioned here. No need to stick to Bluebirds anymore. Eight years ago or more even the Bluebirds could be problematic! Luckily a clean up seemed to have occurred, except for the riff raff hanging out at Blok M and who used to be around Stadium.
Something really worth considering is using the Bluebird app (may require a local number to register) to get a taxi dispatched when you are struggling to get one. Works the same pretty much as other taxi apps you will find in other countries.
