Well put. I've been to Medellin myself, about 18 months ago. It was fun, the girls were very pretty and all-in-all it was really cheap. The main difference is that there are options for things to do during the day in Bangkok. Jakarta is a late night scene with practically nothing to do during the day.
Anyone have a tailor they recommend in Jakarta? I would like to have a couple of suits made when I pass through in January. Hello seniors, I will be visiting Jakarta from Dec24- Dec27th. This is my 1st time to Indonesia, I am an Indian and I will be flying from the US. I pm'ed a few seniors in the thread and thanks to Womaniszer for sharing some details.

Classic and Terminal have nice choice but it all depends upon timing and what are you looking out for.
Better you connect on dating app earlier and connect with independent. With independent you get a real women who love sex and also they earn some good money which will be cheaper then trying and negotiating upfront rather then under influence of alcohol.

Thank you for any advice.Your hotel is in a good location. You are quite close to Malioboro. Even at rush hour, you should be able to get there in about a half hour. There is a real massage in Malioboro if you want. Classic and Terminal are actually the same place (classic terminal) and although it's further than Malioboro, it's not very far. But that's just for sex. I do believe there is a massage place in the basement of hotel classic, but I hear it's not cheap. There is a Delta Spa close to Malioboro at Harmoni that you can go to.

Your hotel is in a good location. You are quite close to Malioboro. Even at rush hour, you should be able to get there in about a half hour. There is a real massage in Malioboro if you want. BTW. Thank you for all the helpful information. Here for 2 more nights then have a return trip planned for Feb.I would say 10 pm is the earliest you want to go if you don; t mind paying the entrance fee. Think they start charging about 9 pm - 9. 30 pm, and the girls don; t enter until after that, think they're not allowed in until charging starts. I used to go in just before 9 pm and have some pizza to get the carb levels up and have something in the system to soak up the alcohol. There's always guests in there as it is open all the time, not like CJ's in The Mulia which doesn't open till 9. 30 pm. Made that mistake before and been in there really early:-O. So if you go early, you won't be the only one there, especially on a Saturday night.

The popular place for expats now seems to be Eastern Promise. But that's just one bar and it's only a good option on Friday and Saturday nights. D's place is still there at blok M, and it's still a decent option, but it's very likely going to have a decline in business since Top Gun is closed now. I like to go to D's place late at night. When that Octagon karaoke place next door to it closes, some girls from that karaoke come into D's place and they are not bad looking. If there is nothing at D's, I will go to My Bar after 2 am. Unfortunately, My Bar is almost a lost cause these days, it rarely has any talent anymore and doesn't even get started until 2 am. There are no areas for foreigners like the old blok M of the past with multiple bars with naughty girls in a small area.
On a side note, I picked up a true stunner in Top Gun just a few weeks ago. One of the best girls I've ever met in Jakarta. She claimed it was her first night visiting the Blok. However it truely sucks that the Institutions of Jakarta are passing away. I don't want to jump on the "Good Ol Days" band wagon but it wasn't that long ago that it seemed impossible that the 6th Floor, Top Gun etc could close. Places like these offered a great night where guys could meet up for beers, have a meal, visit multiple bars and then grab some tail if required. Costs were so low that having a posse of followers was a routine event. They also offered the anonymity of turning up and simply making a selection without random photos and email / Facebook links being posted on some pretty incriminating web sites.
Internet bookings and stand alone locations are great but they don't offer the party atmosphere that these places did and convert everything to a wham bam transactional event.

That's sad news. Was business so bad there?The last few months it was terrible. They had stopped having a band every night and only had it a couple of nights a week. And if you wanted to order something like a diet coke or a corona, they no longer carried anything like that. Only the simplest items. They had scaled down operations to the point where it was a shell of it's former self. A girl had told me previously it was going to close months ago, but they hung on as long as they could.
The problem was the type of crowd they had been getting for the last couple of years. Many guys going there were cheap Charlies who only bought one drink and milked it while playing pool for free all night. When I walked in the door, I would get royal treatment. They'd immediately get me a table because they know I will buy multiple drinks for myself and for the girls. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough customers like that. I always liked Top Gun, it's a damn shame it's closed. I'm not really much of a D's place guy so I rarely go there. The last time I went there, I asked the waitress how much it cost for a bottle of alcohol. She told me the price and I said I would just stick to one drink. Her response was a bit surprising. She said "Ya, I knew you wouldn't get a bottle here. You only get bottles at Top Gun." The fact that she knew I got bottles of alcohol at Top Gun was odd. Obviously they talk about us more than I thought.
Business on the Blok these days is dreadful in general. They may all go bankrupt soon enough.

The last few months it was terrible. They had stopped having a band every night and only had it a couple of nights a week. I am planning a trip to CGK over the holidays (10 days) and wanted to confirm some details.
Having RTFF. Plan is to spend few days in Jakarta find a chick to travel with. I am writing this from work, so it lacks the use of some particular words. I'm a late 20's south Asian guy.
1. Hotel: Aryaduta and Harris both seems to offer good value for money. Is there a particular location for either of these? Any other hotels in the same price range? Warning: This post is going to be boring for long time Jakarta mongerers and for those of you who only frequent the high end spas and clubs.
This is a summary of my very recent 6 night stay in Jakarta.
For the record, I'm a 58 year old Caucasian with average looks, medium-build body, blue eyes, fairly white skin, and fully gray hair. I do think the price / value ratio at places like Hotel Classic and Travel is very good. It's amazing how attractive many of the women are, but very few girls speak English and for me the service has become rather routine over time.

Day 5 to follow.
The club we ended up at was called Eastern Promise. It attracts a lot of western guys and I highly recommend it. It's divided up into 4 areas: restaurant, sports bar, live band bar, and a general bar. We headed to the general bar area and I was shocked at how crowded it was at 3 am. The female-male ratio was about 2-1 and I was pleasantly surprised with how attractive most women were. The live band bar was hopping with locals, but you're right, it was hotter than hell in there so I quickly retreated. Eventually two young ladies came in the regular bar and we caught each other's eyes. They sauntered over to my table and I bought each a bottle of San Miguel, reasonably priced at 52,000 rupiah. Unfortunately the super cute one spoke no English and the plainer one wasn't hot enough to counter my reduced level of hornyness. She did start rubbing my thigh and asked if I was interested in a threesome, but I was worn out.
If you have any suggestions on bars similar to Eastern Promise, I'd love to hear about them.

By night #5 I was friggin' fatigued. I wasn't the slightest bit horny. But it was my last night in the Big Durian and I didn't want to waste it by watching CNN in the hotel room. So at 10 pm I hailed a Pukasa taxi and headed back to the Eastern Promise bar complex. There wasn't a big crowd in the bule bar section and my body wasn't really ready for action, so I headed out of there at around 11:30 pm. I hadn't yet been inside MyBar on Blok M Jalan Falatehan so I figured I'd check it out on the way home.
Sunday night was Christmas Eve and I didn't have high hopes for much to be happening there. As I suspected, at midnight on Sunday the crowd was pretty darned sparse and the quality of females was severely lacking. But I was already there so I sat at the bar and ordered a draft of Bintang, which cost 65 K. The crowd started picking up after 1 am and there ended up being a few highly doable women present by 2 am.
Anyway, I sat alone for a while until a rather eccentric regular American customer sat in a neighboring chair and we chatted for a while. I asked him how many of the female customers are available for hire, and he said every one of them is there for our pleasure. My kind of place, somewhat similar in nature if not in style to the LA Cafe in Manila.
After a while, one of his lady friends stopped by to say hello. And that's when my night changed for the better.
Her name is Sophia. She's a thin and light-skinned gal, somewhat tall for an Indonesian lady. I'm guessing she's in her 40's and has probably been working there for decades. For all I know she's probably a local legend, haha.
Anyway, he introduced me and we briefly chatted. Then a Christmas song (We Wish You a Merry Christmas) started playing and she and I started singing. She really warmed up to me and we sat on adjoining chairs with our arms around each other.
After a while we started dancing at our chairs. Then being such a congenial person, she started sticking her tongue down my throat. My gosh she was a voracious kisser and persistent crotch-rubber. She also leaned down and started giving me a simulated blow job through my pants, which was more stimulating than you might think. And she didn't complain when my hands roamed underneath her white mini dress, either.
I initially felt a little self-conscious about the public displays of affection, but after beer #4 I didn't give a shit about appearances. We must have made out for at least 1 1/2 hours, and my tongue and dick were fatigued from all her attention. By 3 am I was really really tired and told her I hated to leave but I really needed to go. To summarize, I had one hell of a time in Jakarta and didn't spend a ton of money. My day #1 conquest was a bit ho-hum, but all 4 subsequent women seemed genuinely attracted to me and went well out of their way to pleasure me.
I'm in Kuala Lumpur now. There are plenty of options here: Beach Club, Thai Club, ACE Building, Chinatown 40 ringgit shit-hole bordellos, and numerous naughty spas. But I really miss Jakarta. I'll certainly be back.

First time in Jakarta. My preferences to find freelancer and bring back to hotel room. Find spas etc too fast & rushed, mechanical GFE is important. Also prefer to interview and gauge chemistry etc ala Beach club KL.
Considering 2 options. Stay HARRIS Vertu Hotel Harmoni and visit Lokasari Plaza for FL and Maliboro for alternate option.
Hey NewImage, I liked your recent trip reports. Too bad about your Cebu City visit. I went to Cebu City one time on my cherry boy PI trip. I had a pretty good time there and met some nice girls, but I preferred MNL, AC, and Subic which is the primary reason I have not returned to Cebu in 6 or 7 years.
Personally, I think Jakarta has a lot more to offer than KL, so if you liked KL, I think you will love Jakarta.
Jakarta FL Pickups: CJ's & (to a slightly lesser degree) Bats are my two favorite pick up bars. ST is around 1,000,000. I have never been to Eastern Promise, but it sounds interesting based on Keen Eye Joe's recent report.
If its Thurs thru Saturday night around 1 am or later and in the unlikely event that you haven't found what you are looking for at CJ's or Bats or you are back out on the hunt for a 2nd session after visiting Malioboro / Malio, then head to Blok M. The street is a dump, but the bars are warm and inviting.
Stay at either the Harris Vertu or the Grand Mercure Jakarta Harmoni. Both hotels are located within walking distance across the street from Malioboro / Malio.
MY REALLY IMPORTANT RECOMENDATION to you: check out Malio Club and Malioboro. It does not matter what your pre-Jakarta preference is. "WHEN in Rome" should be your guiding philosophy. The big mistake you made in Cebu was sticking too long with the internet social network pickup sites when they were not working for you and not switching to the local bar scene. Malioboro / Malio rocks and has a great assortment of girls in different price points. IMHO it puts Beach Club to shame. The only downside is that it is too prohibitively expensive to take a girl out of the club, but don't let that deter you from going and checking it out. Remember, When in Rome! I really think you will like Malioboro & Malio.

Thanks for the kind words, OS. I'm a firm believer in the old adage, "the cheaper the grapes, the sweeter the wine". I'm just a simple guy with simple tastes who loves being with a simple gal who places me high on a pedestal.
Nothing disappoints me more than paying big money and receiving lackluster service. That's why when in Singapore, I've changed from being an Orchard Towers man to a Geylang guy.
Today I visited the ACE building in Kuala Lumpur and had a nice, high-spirited 30 minute session with a pleasant late-20's Viet gal for just $17 USA. If the session would have stunk, I could have just gone back downstairs and found another $17 gal. Yes I could have gone to a 60 minute spa for $50 or picked up a 2 hour short-timer at the Beach Club for $100 + drinks, but of course there's no guarantee of better service.
On my next Jakarta trip I probably will explore the Kota Indah bars off of Pen-J and perhaps some of the nightclubs in the Kota area of far north Jakarta. Any suggestions of other venues would be appreciated.

- Got a slender shaped girl out of BATS all night for 1 million in early 2015 - night involved a fair amount of drinking and a trip to Blok M (with drinks for her friends too) before 'retiring' for the night.
- Had a pretty mid 30's ish girl out of CJs end of 2016 for 1. 5 million that involved a few rounds of drinks for her and her friend plus a whole heap of laughing before 'retiring' for the night.
- Have NFI about 2017 except for getting a ST quote of 1. 5 million in the last hour at CJs earlier this year which was a hassle even though she looked pretty decent. Deal wasn't taken up.
- Have had a 23 yo girl with her name tattoed on her arm for 300 k plus tips in FM1 who also waltzes through CJs at far higher rates (which is where she finds her bule boyfriends) - contacts lost unfortunately!
- Have had a 27 yo photo model off Tinder for 3 million ST in the last six months that blew away (figuratively and literally) the ones mentioned above in performance. And that's saying something as none of them were disappointing or ordinary.
Last two for perspective. Ok. I'm bragging.
Basically, better rates to be found at CJs and BATS with a lot of partying and drinking (so sticker rate isn't all in rate) or familiarity as demonstrated by Smoothy. Also lots of alternatives in either price direction that won't disappoint. Just get amongst it!

Once again big thankyou to all.I've only been to Blok M twice, both times in the previous week. I can't say I noticed any definite taxi mafia presence. There were always a couple of Bluebird / Pukasa taxis nearby but none parked directly in front of the clubs. I just walked up / down to the ends of Jalan Falatehan to find one.
The first night the driver used the meter without being prompted. But the second night, after getting in the car the driver informed me the price would be 200 K, which is outrageous. I already knew it would cost roughly 70 K to travel to North Jakarta so I hopped out and walked to the other end of the jalan and found another Bluebird, who used the meter.
When you take a taxi, make sure it says Bluebird or Pukasa on the side doors. There are taxis from other companies who have painted their cars with the same color scheme as the metered taxis to lure the unsuspecting customer, so always check the door.
As for safety, one night I walked a 360 degree oval around Jalan Falatehan and the neighboring 3 streets in pretty much an inebriated stupor because I wanted to flirt a little with the streetwalkers. Not one of my smartest decisions but I encountered no problems. In fact, the people I ran across at 3 am were pretty darned friendly and not outwardly menacing at all. But I don't plan on being so bold again.
By the way, the streetwalkers were asking for 300K for a BJ and 500K for short time. None of them were any superior in looks to some of the available girls in MyBar.
My last piece of advice: If you're going to Blok M, inform the driver you are going to Jalan Falatehan. Write it down on a piece of paper and show it to the driver. Don't just tell him you are going to the Blok M bars, like I did on my second night. He dropped me off in the much larger and nicer Japanese bar area of Blok M, which is a ways away from Falatehan. I ended up hiring a tuktuk cab to take me to the proper spot.
I've only been to Blok M twice, both times in the previous week. I can't say I noticed any definite taxi mafia presence. There are some crappy taxis still hanging out there, but nowadays there isn't the mafia taxi presence from years past. Bluebird taxis are actually allowed to pick people up and allowed to wait at the end of the street with no issues. 10 years ago, those taxis were terrified to infringe on the taxi mafia's turf. So that is one thing about Felatehan that has changed for the better. There also isn't the throng of little kids and old lady beggars in the street anymore. The most famous beggar of them all passed away a few years ago. Her name was Miriam and she was the old lady who used to pretend that she couldn't walk. She'd sit there in the street and ask for money and if someone didn't give her any, she'd say "I kill you tomorrow!" or "I bet your dick is too small to satisfy any woman". One time she was just outside the doorway of the beloved and since closed Lintas Melawai bar, sitting in the street and begging for money pretending that her legs were crippled. The girl I was with was going to give her money and I told the girl "don't give her anything, she's rude and a pain in the ass". Miriam immediately jumped up and ran after me telling me she was going to kill me. She was damn fast too! Luckily I was wearing tennis shoes that night or she would have caught me. Such a sweety. She will be missed by many.

I always stayed at Hotel Falatehan on the same street as Top Gun et al. I spent many late nights (3 am) browsing the neighborhood, after my CJ's / BAT'S date left, and never once felt unsafe.
Sure, you get heckled a lot from the bystanders, but nothing more than that. I was 59 at the time; 6'1" and 250 lbs American.

I took a few minutes to take it all in, and figure out what was going on. It seems Malio has toned down its awesomeness a lot. Great reports on this thread like #11831 and #11731 had given me great hopes. There are no nude dancers and even in balcony booths these dancers would not open their tops.
As of ridiculous price you were quoted is because you chose a dancer. If you had chosen a regular girl it would have been less. I was quoted 1. 2 million or something for a regular girl, I don't remember exactly. Even Uzbek girls will go for less than 2 million. A waiter had told me upstairs of Malio club you could get girls for 400 k, 900 k and 1. 3 mil. But for the life of me I could not figure out where this Malio bar was at 1 am. Yes the prices are inclusive of rooms. The price quotes for BJ (20 lady drinks) is again for dancers. The non dancer girls have reasonable prices.

Mailo is downstairs, fun bar / club atmosphere with girls available. Dancers will be very expensive, if they will even go with you. The girls seated in groups are less costly. I think around 900 k (ask mama to be sure).
Malioboro is upstairs. That's where you will find a larger number of girls sitting on the hugs couches. All types of girls in there Indo and Foreign / Imports.
Last time I went to Malioboro was about 1. 5-2 years ago. Prices were 1. 2 M for foreign girls and 800 k for Indo ladies. I would think the prices have probably increased since by about 100-1500 k.

Malio. And, I think I've finally figured out the layout of this place (took a fair bit of wandering though).
From the main entrance (by the driveway, south side) if you press 2 on the elevator, you end up at Malio bar and lounge. The elevators open and there's the charge counter. The left side is the live music area that is smaller and has tables of girls sitting around and you can order food and drink. I only noticed a few other customers there and about 15 girls looking bored. Day 0:
Landed in Jakarta airport at noon, took a bluebird taxi from their stand to Pasar Baru for 180 k IDR. Reached fave hotel (Pasar Baru) and slept till late night. Fave Hotel is a budget hotel ($30) but didn't have basic things like mini-bar, wardrobe and a reliabel wifi. Other than location nothing really good about it. Tried to use Grab taxi and Bluebird taxi apps but drivers refused to come to the hotel. I guess the best way is to catch'them on the street. Went back to my room and slept again.
Tl; dr: Fave hotel is not good and First day wasted.

Waited till 4 PM and went to Hotel Classic. The security guard told its closed but reading the previous reports I was sure it opened at 3 PM. Went inside. Classic Hotel has 3 levels for mongering. The basement level is called Bunker. 5th level is called Terminal. Reached 3rd floor and went inside. Its dark as fuck. The general mood was gloomy. Visited Classic again, this time to check out some of the other floors. First went to the ground level club (entry 50 k). Last time, it was already closed when I arrived after 3 am. The short answer is Jakarta, but I know you will eventually visit both cities so pick one for your next trip and have a great time. I prefer both Jakarta & Phnom over KL. Here are some comparisons to think about:
1. CJ's (Jakarta) is a much better 5 * pickup bar than BC. Darling Darling (Phnom) is good too, but not on the level of CJ's. Score +1 for Jakarta.
2. Phnom has many small hostess bars which you will like. The remaining few Blok M bars (Jakarta) can be good, but score +1 for Phnom.
3. Jakarta has Malio / Malioboro, Kings Cross, Emporium & Tease, Colosseum Club & 1001 Pool, Illigals, and Classic. I know what you stated as your preferences above, but this is where Jakarta out shines itself. You will not know what you are missing until you check these bordellos out. Score a BIG +1 for Jakarta.
4. Phnom is considerably cheaper than Jakarta, so I leave it to you how much weight to give this consideration.
I will sum up my preferences this way: When I am thinking about a fun filled 5-night visa run from LOS, my favorite destination is Phnom Penh. It is funky Buddha land and Khmer girls are very friendly. The Food is good and I like the culture. But when I am considering a serious alternative to BKK or Manila loaded with really attractive and passionate girls, especially for a 2-week trip or longer, there is no better place that comes to my mind than Jakarta. My favorite haunts are CJ's, then BATS, and Top Gun.
Near the end, I discovered Maribaya Spa in Hotel Melawi thanks to posts by Koperen Klaas. At the time there were a fair amount of negative posts about the place but it suited me well and I always enjoyed it. Low key, small, decent looking girls, excellent service, GFE attitude, fair price at 600 k. I made maybe 6 visits and loved every one.
I would go there for fun in the afternoon (Arti) or early evening (Ani) before the evening began at 10 pm at CJ's or BTA'S. I like to get there early and get a good seat near the entry door to peruse the talent walking in.
I am coming back to visit my 2014 friends from where I worked. I spend 3 weeks on Java overlapping between April and May. I have 6 days to spend in Jakarta & the rest in the province.
I was sad to learn of the demise or Maribaya last year.
I have spent weeks perusing the forum, in part, searching for a replacement for Maribaya. I do not like huge meat markets where there is mostly perfunctory or starfish performance. A GFE attitude and personality probably tops my list. I don't need stunners and can always find a girl who I find pretty. I go more for the "girl next door" look anyway.
I'm 60, 6'1" and chubby. Started my diet the day I bought the tickets a few weeks ago. Lost 15 lbs already. Nothing beats proper motivation to stick to a diet. In fact I lost 65 pounds in 2014 while in Indonesia. Regardless, when in the P4P market, I never had a problem finding women and my belief is that personality and attitude top the girls list.
In all my research, it seems like Kings Cross might be the closest match to Maribaya for me.

OMG! LOL! Generally had luck with colleagues with at least pointing me in the right direction. I thought there might be places locals go, not so much for the price but for the change of scenery and experience. Being going to the same joints mentioned here so was looking to something different when I have time to explore and not just want to shoot a load. Glad to hear Classic is considered good value.

The latter brothels are in the same price range as Classic and Travel and to the extent the cheaper lounge is open at Malioboro--this seems to vary from one time to another--it can too be in the same general price range.
There are, of course, many other good options in Jakarta, many of which have been mentioned in this thread and some of which are rather inexpensive.

The guy specifically used Hotel Classic for the value comparison. That indicates he likes Hotel Classic. For those who like the service at Hotel Classic, there is no possible better value for money. I think the service sucks so I don't go there, but I have friends (all of them are Asian) who love it. Personally, I don't look for value for money, I look for a good experience. I consider an expensive girl who provides good service to be better value than a cheaply priced girl who just lays there.
I think this board probably has more complaints about bad service at Hotel Classic than any other (especially by me). But I will admit that you can't easily find young girls and a very nice room for that cheap price.

Alexis was probably the best spa in Jakarta in terms of choice of girls and facility, but since it is now closed, and I already experienced Malioboro, I wanted to try something new.
Based on the reports, Illigals seemed to be worth a visit, so I decided to have a go. When I arrived, the entrance was a bit confusing, as you need to go through an alley that is next to the Starbucks. Once I reached Illigals, I went straight to the 3rd floor for the massage & spa. The entrance fee is 100 k Rupiah, and when I entered, I saw quite an empty bar with tables with few girls sitting around and a pool in the middle. The mamasan approached me asking me what I wanted, and so I asked for for the options. She gave me 2 choices: Regular for 900 k and Special for 1. 3 Mil Rupiah, all locals, no import. Then she immediately pushed me to go for Regular and pointed me to one girl, which I did not really like. I asked for Special and she said all of them are busy. And kept pushing me for this girl. Then I said I wanted to see the line up, which she was reluctant to do, she asked 3 other girls to come, which I also did not like, then she asked everyone to join. The line up was about 8 girls in total, all ranging from 5 to 7. I was quite disappointed that they did not have more than this. The only one smiling at me was the one she initially pointed out to me. So although I did not like her face, her body looked OK and I decided to go for her.
After that, we went straight to the room, she did not even propose to have a session at the swimming pool, like in Alexis. The room was nice, large and well maintained, and the girl immediately put some porn on TV for me to watch. Then we went to shower, and start the session immediately. They do appear to have a good time though.

Although I used to go out frequently, I rarely go out anymore since it's so convenient just meeting girls on Tinder or wechat and having them come to my place. However, I decided to head out last night. I'm a fan of live music, so started the night at Jaya Pub. For those who don't know, Jaya Pub is one of the oldest pubs in Jakarta. I'm not sure, but I think it opened back in the 70's. It's now owned by a couple of older Indonesian "legend artists" (I think they were actors or dangdut singers in the past), and the female owner is almost always seated in the back of the bar. As usual, on the weekend it was packed. Quite a few expats hang out there, but it's not really a pickup spot. It's one of the places in town where you can actually see a white guy there with his white wife, if that tells you anything about the chances of picking up a hooker there. Slim to none. LOL. But if you like live music in a casual pub environment where they play rock, this is a good place to have some beers.
There are a lot of middle class Indos there as well. I find that if I go there alone and just hang out listening to the music, it's easy to find friends for the evening just among the crowd. One time I had an Indo guy trying to fix me up with his daughter. His daughter looked pretty damn good too. But they lost interest when they found out how long I had stayed in Jakarta. Haha.
Anyway, the bands were pretty good, and as usual, the crowd sang along to many songs and tooted horns after pretty much every song (bicycle horns are hanging from the ceiling all over the bar, so you can toot the horns after the songs you like as a form of appreciation. As the night goes on and people get more drunk, the horns are honked more and more.) They change bands every hour. One of the bands there played mostly Queen songs and did a good job with them, then played a really unique version of Hotel California that was fast paced and rockin' rather than it's normal slow pace, which I found pretty cool. I should have made a video of that one. I find it a good time there even though I know I am not going to be picking up any girls.
After a couple of hours at Jaya Pub, I left and headed to Eastern Promise. They also had a live band. It's the same band that used to play Hard Rock Cafe and Liquid Exchange. I think the name of the band is Java Beat. I'd recommend that band to anyone, one of the better bands in Jakarta. It wasn't as hot outside as normal due to rain recently so it was bearable there. The place had a fairly large selection of hookers without a doubt. I almost felt like I was in Top Gun because there were some of the normal Top Gun girls there. I can't say the selection of ladies was as good as you find at CJs or BATS, but it was decent. There was one quite tall girl who was walking out with her friends when I first walked in, and I regret not hitting on her immediately and pulling her back into the bar. Stunner. However, all was not lost as I ended up with a girl I liked. I had not seen her around before so I doubt she was a Top Gun girl. Unfortunately, the way she danced reminded me of the puppet from the old Howdy Doody show for some reason. She didn't look like that puppet, but moved like him. Haha. I can't say that was a turn on, however she was quite cute. Luckily she didn't move like that in bed later.
I left Eastern Promise with the girl and we went to the bar at the top of the Westin hotel for a final drink for the night. I hadn't been there in months and it looked like it was a clear night so we could have a good view of Jakarta from the 67th floor bar. Unfortunately, going there was a mistake (or at least ordering the drinks I did was a mistake). The view was excellent, but just one drink for the both of us was 450 k. What a rip off. Next time I will stick with beer. After that I took her home and had her put on a skimpy school girl skirt and some black nylons. She was good fun, good in bed, and it was a nice end to the night. Once I picked it up in Gili T, ages ago, it was ugly. Very.
Maybe two good things to know about dengue:
1. Mozzies that transmit it, bite during the daytime and especially like the times around dusk and dawn.
2. Dengue is location bound. Don't know if health care / councils are tracking locations in Jakarta?
But last week I was in South Lombok and canceled plans to go Sekotong as it is going around there now.

I haven't been checking in much these past couple of months and I thought I would drop in to see what I have been missing and I have to say it would appear that the answer is "not much".
I can't believe the once mighty Jakarta scene is now reduced to Malioboro and Classic and a couple of other massage / spa joints, as would appear to be the case from the past few weeks of reports.
Is that it gentlemen? Or is it that, as I suspect is likely, the whole scene has moved online? Has Tinder absorbed everything now (as it certainly has in my case) that no one is much bothered about the commercial operations beyond the obvious handful of established places?
That works for me and I find I haven't the time to bother much about what's happening in the clubs and bars but is it really that limited these days? It must make it very restricted for visitors to this town, as I once was myself many years ago when thanks to this forum I was like a kid in a candy store visiting all the very many hot spots the length and breadth of this town, from CJ's to Kalijodo and Blok M to Lokasari with all points of BATS, Hard Rock Cafe, Panjay, Jalan Industri and Stadium in between.

Those girls get 300 k and the pimp gets whatever you agree to above that amount. I would stand by everything I said about KI, having just spent time there Friday and Saturday nights just gone. All of the things I mentioned and confirmed by Crocodilexp are in play. The cockroaches are certainly about. , OS personally took the opportunity to relieve himself in the shower a couple of times and killed 4 mosquitos in MTR while getting ready to entertain the lovely lady, including one that had bitten somebody.
It also gets raided by the police periodically, the last one being on Tue 9th of Jan, police will block off the two entrances to the place and check IDs of everybody in the place, run drug tests on customers and the girls and generally make it known who is in charge. Indonesian police and military are not permitted in the dunia malam or night world and if the raid nets any police or military having a night of fun they are in a spot of bother.

Dengue is scary, even more so for those who have already had a bout with it; subsequent bouts become increasingly dangerous to one's health. At one point, I thought it might not be a problem in North Jakarta (where Kota Indah is) based on a number of reports I saw of Dengue in South Jakarta. However, since then I have seen at least one report of Dengue in North Jakarta. Insect repellant helps, but it is not 100 percent, particularly if one doesn't want to mess with DEET-based repellants.

I recently spent 9 days in Jakarta, tried four hotels, went to Illigals, went to Colosseum, etc. , etc.
Quick observations: I have nothing new to add about Illigals, the recent posts about it are roughly accurate. Colosseum is notorious for being full of freelancers; however, when I was there, I didn't get that sense. There were a few freelancers, maybe a handful. Harris Vertu is a very nice hotel, and not too expensive. Grand Indonesia has some gorgeous women. For me, the general look of the girls in Jakarta will merit a return trip. For my tastes, they are on average the most attractive Asian women.
The majority of girls that I choose came from WeChat. Now, WeChat is a scam because the pictures rarely ever match the girl, maybe never. I learned this on my first day in Jakarta. Two times in two attempts, the girls sent to my room didn't match the photos on their ads. This didn't stop me from doing the deed, but it taught me a valuable lesson. Colosseum full of freelancers? Nope. Not at all. Most girls that go there come in groups and are kept a close eye on, the chance to get to them directly is slim to none unless you know some of the guys in the group. The second type of girl that goes there works for the club as "LC" (Lady Companion). You can book them, but that's a different ballgame and very costly, even more so than CJ's girls for take-out. Staying in my hotel after my horrible experience at Hotel Classic (#12156), I was in two minds whether to go back at the peak 2100 hrs to Classic with lessons learnt or try Malio club instead. After re-reading Ryo's post I decided it will be best if I don't fall into sunk cost fallacy and instead should try Malio. Reached outside the Malio around 2130 hrs. I tried to directly enter without going through the metal detector.
