Having tried the other venues at Classic, I decided to try the spa based on recent reports here. When you walk in you get a wristband with your locker key, similar set up to Macau saunas. Aside from the spa facilities (sauna, hot tub, cold tub, treadmill and exercise bike), the process for selecting girls is actually quite similar to Hotel Travel or other levels, just without the smoke and loud music. Min charge was 100 K for the facilities, which is included if you select a girl.
It was a quiet night and I think only half a dozen other customers were around (weeknight). Selected this hotel in North Jakarta due to it's low cost, relative ease of access from the airport, and not least in-house spa with 'additional benefits'.
Arrived at Jakarta airport about 11 pm after a long indirect flight from Europe. The flight was on time and a generous transit time in KL provided the opportunity to have a shower, a meal and a couple of beers. Airport was very quiet at that time. And after all, less than 40 or about $50 was, by western standards at least, outstandingly good value, so I had no complaints on that score. Would I return? Personally I would not, as if I wanted another spa-type experience I'd try some alternative establishments. But I certainly would not discourage others from trying this one.

You must have visited a different Asia than I visited, and perhaps your Europe is different from the one I have been visiting since 1978. Last time I was in Europe was three years ago. I had experiences from freelance provider in Berlin (the low-cost mongering capital of Western Europe) at just under 100 Euros for an hour. And that was the low end of the price range, not the average. Since then I had some very good service in the downscale X-house of Sanur for 300 k (17 Euros), which I told was paying too much.
I think the reason you "don't seem to get through to people" is because your story isn't plausible to any one who has actually punted around on various continents. In other words, they don't believe you, and neither do I.Just wondering whether it is worth the time and effort to respond to this. Auncle-V.I had stayed in that area not too long ago at Novotel Jakarta Mangga Dua Square back while Alexis was still around. The hotel and surrounding mall and shops were dated and not as new as those you would get in Central Jakarta. At least the hotel rates were much cheaper.
I usually prefer to stay at Grand Mercure Jakarta Harmoni whenever I visit Jakarta. The hotel bedrooms and facilities are much newer. As a plus, it is very close to Malio Club which is just a walking distance across the street.

You would really need to frequent that place often, and be completely familiar with the entire current lineup to make that assessment, wouldn't you? Were you there in the past few days? My second evening at the Orchardz Industri Hotel grew near, and I knew that it did not make sense to rely on another chance encounter at the karaoke bar. Earlier, I had taken a long walk, including two circuits of the Kota Indah loop (Starmoon and others). I received a couple of invitation from the doorways, but although I did not find the area as sketchy as expected, I don't think that it's a good place for a solo, relatively inexperienced, bule with minimal Bahasa. I did actually see one other white foreign male, who looked as lost and out of place as I most probably did.
So after a rest and a freshen up, I took a bluebird down to Blok M. Even as the crow flies, that's about a 12 k trip, but it was quite late now, maybe midnight or so, and by that time most of the Jakarta traffic, apart from the central Thamrin area, is quite light. So it was probably less than 30 minutes. My body-clock had not yet adjusted, so the late hour meant little anyway. My expectations of the Blok were low. I had visited a couple of times on a previous trip, although probably mostly or all during the week, with results which could be described as mixed at beast. The first bar that I visited then was the famous but now almost deserted Top Gun, which must been only a few weeks before it was holstered for the last time. Although on the previous occasion I visited "all" five or so bars in the Blok, this time I stuck to two bars. MyBar and the's Place, which conveniently are only a few paces apart. My Bar is the one on the left, with the disco-type atmosphere, and the's Place is the one on the right, containing a small stage with four or so dancing girls, and which has more of a general bar type of atmosphere.
So on this Friday night I was pleasantly surprised by the lively atmosphere and quantity of girls, particularly in My Bar, where I ended up spending the majority of the time. Quality was better than previously, too. That time, it was difficult to find a single girl worth taking, and although I am quite selective, I am not excessively picky. Any girl who I would rate in terms of looks as six or above is worthy of consideration. This time, there were at least three who were definitely takeable, no doubt about it. I got talking to one of the three, surprise surprise. Told me she worked as a hairdresser, and came to the blok only at weekend. Certainly on my next visit, on a weekday, she was not there. Also got talking to the second of my personal 'top three' prospective companions for the night. She was cute, slim and petite, and an enthusiastic and excellent dancer. Told me she stayed in an area of South Jakarta which is only about 3 k from the blok, as the crow flies. I did not talk to the third of my top three, who was the prettiest although not as slim and petite as the others. In retrospect, I regretted that decision and if I saw her again, I would definitely make a move.
Anyway, the beers were flowing down and I was having a good time, but the clock was moving on. The hairdresser, who by this time I had spent a fair amount of time with, and bought some drinks for, and who I seemed destined to go with, started to get a bit impatient, which did not bode very well, action-wise. Soon it was nearing closing time, which I think is about 5 am on weekends. The really pretty girl had disappeared, the dancer girl seemed better left for a subsequent trip, and the hairdresser had becoming cloying and annoying. So, in a last-minute switch, I picked up an alternative slightly less cute girl but with seemingly better attitude, and headed out in the darkness and taxis. At that time, traffic was still very light, the trip back to north Jakarta was going very smoothly, and the taxi was only a couple of km from my hotel, when I saw a police roadblock up ahead. There were a couple of police cars, with it seemed about six or seven police, some uniformed and some plain clothes. The taxi was flagged down and I was asked for my passport. I knew about the obligation to carry it, but had forgotten and in any case preferred to leave it in the hotel safe. I got out of the taxi as requested, and a plain clothes man, who seemed to be in charge, asked me whether I knew about my ID obligations and what I had been doing that night while another guy, can't remember if uniformed or not, fished about in my front left trousers pocket. I was not too comfortable with that, but had little option. Anyway it held only a few totally innocuous items, so I had nothing to worry about on that score.
Although I had had quite a few beers, I had sobered up swiftly. I was completely cooperative, respectful and friendly throughout, and explained that I had been in some bars, had forgotten to carry my passport, and was on my way back to my nearby hotel, the address of which was on a couple of hotel cards that I was carrying. The policeman did not ask me about the girl, I guess he worked that out for himself. He asked for a donation or contribution, using some rather round-about wording, but leaving the underlying meaning perfectly clear. He was very polite throughout, but of course in a situation like that there is no doubt where the power lies. Thanks to the generous previous contributors on this thread and my extensive and indeed enjoyable RTFF, I knew the drill and swift complied, politely handing over 100 k, which is only £5 or $7.
Of course I would if necessary have gladly handed over the complete contents of my wallet, at that point probably down to about 500 k - 1 M, to avoid any escalation. I politely bid him good day, and got back into the taxi. The taxi driver and the girl, who I think simply been asked for their IDs, were clearly relieved that the episode was over. As one point, I had caught the briefest glimpse of the girl passing something small. Too small for me to see. To the driver, presumably for easier concealment at the front of the vehicle. When the trip resumed, I asked her what it was, but the mumbled response was not enlightening, so I left it there, as at that time I probably really did not want to know. If it was something illegal, I guess that the situation could well have taken an unpleasant and expensive turn for the worse, regardless of my innocence and whether I had been carrying my passport or not. Soon we were back at my hotel, at which point it was already daylight, so it must have been shortly after 5. 30 am.

I really prefer point and shoot places (Grand LA, Hotel Classic / Travel, New Medika, King's Cross) so was wondering if there are any such bars like those in the area. This is not your passport". They don't ask me to get out of the taxi, but they immediately go into their "I can help you" routine (meaning if I give them money, I can be on my way). I haven't had them ask me get out of the car. But I haven't been pulled over in a few years, maybe they are getting more handsy. Not a pleasant thought.
Regardless, giving them 100 k was perfectly fine and well done on your part to be on your way.
I have always thought this was a very corrupt thing, but lately I have taken a different view of it. I think we should start doing this in the USA as well. Force every person to carry their passport with them and do random searches. If they don't have the proper documents, arrest them. If they are discovered to be illegal immigrants who have either entered the country illegally or overstayed their visa, deport their ass and never allow them in the country again. That would help to get rid of the problem of people overstaying their visas. I am in Indonesia completely legally, so I wouldn't have anything to worry about other than being hassled.

While handing the scanned copy of the passport I include red bill and say I help you, you help me. Usually gets things sorted in less than 10 seconds. At times when I have forgotten the passport copy, it can take a bit longer. Perhaps upto 10 minutes. And it is never more than 100 K in donation.
Never had to step out of the taxi. Ever.

I arrived at the Classic hotel around 9:00 PM on a Friday evening recently and checked into the adjacent hotel. I was planning to stay 3 nights but ended up only staying for two.
I had just flown in from Singapore and felt a little weary so I though I would try for a massage in the basement. I spoke to a few of the security guards at the front door if the price of the massage included a happy ending and they confirmed it did so I went into the reception and attempted to book a massage for Rp350 K (90 minutes) The receptionist told me if I wanted "all in" the price was Rp800 K and it would be with a different lady but that did not include massage, it was just sex. I really wanted the massage so I took the massage with he included as told by the security guys.
I was taken into a locker room where I was given shorts, gown and plastic sandals. All my belongings were stored in a locker. I walked past some indoor pools and a sauna and into a lounge with bar where there were some guests and several ladies lounging about. I presumed these were the "all in" ladies.
The massage rooms were through the bar and out the back. I was shown into one and told to wait for the therapist.
She arrived shortly after and I stripped off and lay down. There was a shower and the room seemed quite comfortable.
The therapist gave me a decent massage front and back and at no time did she make direct contact with the crown jewels which I though was odd but decided to enjoy the massage anyway and just drift off into half sleep.
Once she finished the massage she asked me if I wanted "extra massage" She meant happy ending "he" and I said yes please. She then informed me that that was an extra and would cost Rp200 K or Rp300 K and she would remove her top while she did it. I told her that the he was included as several guys had told me prior to booking the massage. She said it was extra and said she would accept Rp100 K for the he. I had no where to go so I took the offer of Rp100 K. She was just plain looking so I didn't care about the top coming off.
After she finished I showered then walked through the lounge (it was closed at 11:00 PM) and returned to the change room and asked the guy in there if the he was normally included. He smiled but didn't confirm or deny.
When I went to pay at the end the receptionist said I have to include a cash payment tip for the therapist of Rp100 K (for the he) I said I shouldn't have to pay for that as the guys out the front said it was included but once again I got a stupid look. The guys out the front had disappeared at this time.
I felt I was stooged a little but I'm not complaining about the money. I would have normally tipped the therapist anyway.
I felt refreshed and it was still early for me so I headed up to the Terminal 2.
Follows on from post 13300 - A Visit to Blok M. And a Police Shakedown.
Into the room, shower, and into bed. My new friend's body was as slim and appealing as expected. However fatigue was catching up with both of us. We slept until nearly noon, then showered and dressed, and checked out. My next hotel was the Grand Kemang in South Jakarta, and my new friend was happy to accompany me. Up to this point, there has been some fooling around but no serious action so I was of course more than happy to take her. Arrived at Grand Kemang, which was a welcome step up from Orchardz. Into bed, then ordered a room-service meal and beers for a belated brunch. Afterwards I dozed off to sleep while she watched TV, until late in the afternoon. The action, when it came, was just rather standard stuff, forgettable, and not worth detailing here. Rather limited enthusiasm on her part and to be honest less than usual enthusiasm on mine. Afterward, I discretely slipped her the agreed amount, got her mobile number just in case, and walked her down to the hotel's front entrance. No fireworks then, but a perfectly agreeable twelve hours or so with her, most of the time naked, so well worth it in my view.
Later that evening, I took a walk around the neighbourhood, then headed to Eastern Promise bar, which I had read about in this forum. The establishment is quite large and comprises three bar areas plus a dining area, all with varying but mostly high noise and smokiness levels. It was definitely busy. The quietest and least smoky was the dining room, and since it was late and I was hungry I ordered a light meal and a beer. Service was surprisingly prompt, probably because of the late hour, and the meal was good enough. After dinner, ordered another beer and did another tour of the premises. Clientele was mixed locals and expats, with many of the latter. Most people were in couples or larger groups. But I saw few if any targets, and certainly none that were both unattached and sufficiently appealing.
Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of women there but most seemed to be accompanied, and the few others did not spark my interest. Even if they did, the general noise level would have made anything other than very basic introductory conversation difficult. In the large area towards the rear, most of the patrons seemed to have imbibed generous amounts of alcohol and were happily dancing to the deafening music of the band (or was it a DJ, or both, I don't recall). Stayed for another beer as the crowd thinned out a bit, but eventually went back to the hotel empty-handed. Could easily have taken a taxi back up to blok M, now only a couple of km away as the crow flies, but decided against it.
So, it was rather a bust, for me at least, and although I did a short repeat visit on the following evening, just in case I was unlucky the first time, the result was similar. Lively place, but I think best enjoyed in a group, especially if party-oriented, and not a great solo destination unless you have a level of game much better than mine. Unless, of course, I missed something.

Herein lies your problem!. You did not ask enough people the important question of the happy ending.
When you need to know information in Indonesia and particularly with brothel security guards. You ask the same question to 10 or more people and then average the answers. It is important also when asking a question not to provide any leads to the answer or they will just say yes to whatever option you gave them. Example - "They have condoms for my extra large schlong in there don't they?" Yes! Will be the answer.
But if you ask "do they have extra large condoms for my giant schlong" they will recieve it as a question, think about it and respond with a yes or no. Then you may repeat the question to the next 10 people and you should get a good result.

My guess is that you paying 100 k more for the HJ is absolutely appropriate. The HJ is included in the hot stone massage at Delta if you want it to be included, but that massage is 900 k or 1 million for the "HJ inclusive" massage. I visited terminal 2 on a Friday evening around 11:00 PM after a massage in the basement spa. It was very busy.

A place like Classic or Travel have 10-15 mamasans working on a busy night. Will cost you 1. 5 million to keep them all away!
The mamasans are bothersome until they get to know you. Don't be a pushover in these bars. After a week some will leave you alone and some will be your best friends. AFAIK, each girl is attached to a mamasan. If a mamasan doesn't work neither does the girl. Read what you want into that I'm not saying it. AFAIK the 365 k is split 3 ways between the bar, mamasan, and the girl. In fact, it could be the girl gets less than 1/3. That's why if I have a good girl I tip her 100 or 200 k. ~BKKguruIt is not a good idea to tip the mama's. Unless they are providing you with some kind of value. Constantly pestering you with girls is not providing any value and a sharp "Itu saya yang pilih, bukan kamu" "It is me that chooses, not you" will slow them down but some can be persistent. Once they know you they will be better but if you are new they will try it on.
The mamas get a portion of the fee. Of the cost of a girl at Classic, she would get 150 000, the Mama not sure but think 10 or 20,000, it isn't that much. 50 000 is at the lower end of the scale as far as tips go to the girls but if it is CBJ then they really can't be expecting much more.
A good mama can look after you, but it takes a while for them to know you. The only other thing OS will not stand is the mamas forcing a girl who clearly does not want to session with you to do so.

First trip to Indonesia in February 2019.
Decided to get away from Thailand (Bangkok and Pattaya). I am sometimes a little tired of the geocentric thinking, but do like the fairly advanced infrastructure, the BTS and MTS, availability of western food, great shopping malls, good English, and more. For a 3 day trip Blok M is a huge pass. So many better areas in Jakarta than Blok M. Kota Indah (Grand LA, Royal, MTR, New Sari Ayu, Starmoon, etc) and Kelapa Gading (King's Cross, Sumo Spa, MTR, and a bunch more) are the 2 areas I would go to with the 3rd day at Malio just to see it. Before hitting these 3 areas you can go to Travel or Classic at around 5 pm each day.
Not sure what you mean by BJ bars for all that I have named you can get a BJ only instead of FS if that is your desire. Clarify with the mamasan or girl first since some Indo girls aren't huge fans of BJs.

Decided to get away from Thailand (Bangkok and Pattaya). I am sometimes a little tired of the geocentric thinking, but do like the fairly advanced infrastructure, the BTS and MTS, availability of western food, great shopping malls, good English, and more. Bahasa is a very easy language to learn. Essentially it has no gender or tenses to worry about and the letters are only ever pronounced one way. I prefer to avoid the traffic and get there sooner rather than save some trivial amount of money. The reason I do not take Uber or Grab car is they use a GPS and stick by that route, they will argue with me when I tell them to take the shortcut (mainly because they are not clever enough to know those shortcuts). Pretty much without fail, the GPS suggested route is not the fastest route. I don't have that problem with a taxi arguing with me over the route, they will take whichever route I want. I had a taxi about a month ago who took me from Mangga Dua to Kuningan in a half hour at rush hour (that would normally take over an hour). The guy was a friggin genius. He took the long route without a doubt going down the weirdest side streets that I didn't even know. He did ask me if I was ok with him taking that route before he took it. I wish I could remember those side streets because I would love to go that way again in the future, but it was fairly complicated.
The non blue bird taxis will many times not use a meter, but if you notice, they also take the "long" route even though you have already paid them a fixed price.
I wouldn't worry too much about using google maps with the taxis.

I have to defend the bluebird drivers, those guys are trustworthy. I take 2 or 3 taxis every day and have done that for many years in Jakarta. I didn't mean to bash Bluebird and I absolutely agree with you that Bluebird is likely the best taxi company in the world. Just reporting 2 incidents I had on my last trip. One was with our mutual friend who said to the Bluebird driver "Are you sure you work for Bluebird?" as he took the scenic route thinking we didn't know how to get to our destination. The other incident was with a driver who for some reason purposely drove up a street near National Monument after I told him there was heavy traffic according to Google Maps. We sat in traffic over 30 minutes. He would have made more taking the much longer route I had proposed to take. It's not about the money since taxis in Jakarta are cheaper than anywhere in the world. I get upset that they are wasting my time. My other Bluebird incident was with the Harris Vertu Harmoni Bluebird drivers who all refused to take me to New Medika at around 6 pm because of heavy traffic. The taxi guy then allowed me to hop in to another Bluebird taxi who was dropping off customers. It took that driver over 1 hour to get to New Medika but I tipped him over 100k which he was ecstatic to receive. He was a great guy.

Places may close and re-open. Shut down for a while but Jakarta has the mongering places that is always there. And here is my reports.
Malio Club / Malio Lounge. Went on a Sunday so the lounge was with less dancers but yes the mamasans were there as usual. Declined the line ups and went down to the club after a drink at the lounge. The club seems to be more lively and adventurous. One lesson learnt if you are going in a group always check the tag has a key when you enter from the lounge. We had to pay a sum as the key was missing in one of our tags. But absolutely sure we never dropped it. Didn't notice it as we were using only 1 tag for the billing. 150 k is the user fees. One more visit during the week made. But only to the club.

The following night after I visited Classic Terminal 2 I tried Terminal 5.
I entered around 8:30 PM on a Saturday night and it was't busy at all, only a handful of tables were occupied. I walked past the band and stage over towards the bar away from the entrance and took up a table.
The setup in Terminal 5 is different to Terminal 2. It's shape is like a large rectangle where Terminal 2 is more curvy or circular.
On one long side of the room is a stage in the center with band with rows of girls each side to it. Yes, Kota Indah gets raided fairly often. It used to be great 15 to 20 years ago before the newer places opened, but there are much nicer options these days for the same price. Hotel Classic Bunker is only 350k and I love the rooms there. Hotel Classic 2nd floor rooms are quite nice and it's the exact same price as kota indah. Kings Cross is a bit more expensive but way nicer and the girls are willing to come to your room after work or on their day off, the kota indah girls will never do that. I think it's a no-brainer to pick a place like Kings Cross, especially if you are in town more than 1 or 2 days.

Finally, there is Grab, which works exactly like Uber. Grab bought out Uber's operations in all of SEA a few months back and in turn, Uber has taken a financial stake in Grab. Grab is a Singaporean venture.

Every app looks and feels a bit different and uses different algorithms to produce the ultimate same result. A consumer gets a ride for a price. They also partner with different companies for GPS technology and Maps. So technically Grab isn't a copy of Uber. That said, both companies got a rap on their knuckles when the merger happened.

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) business is a Cash cow. This business is growing roughly 40% per year.
Amazon does invest a lot of its earnings in its Infrastructure (Data Centers, Network, Warehouses etc).
Companies like Walmart, Target and others are struggling to keep up with Amazon because they do NOT have a Cash cow like AWS.
For the next 5 years, the Cloud will be the growth engine for Amazon and Microsoft.

Grab car. I ONLY used the 5 star rated drivers in Grab cars (not Grab taxis). The price difference is nominal and all but one driver was in a newer if not new vehicle, usually a small SUV or crossover. The only one driver not in a new vehicle was in a really old junkie car that was super dirty. I almost asked him how he got to be 5 stars when I got in the car but luckily I didn't since he turned out to be a super nice guy. After the long ride to Pluit I knew why everyone rated him 5 stars. All drivers were friendly and made sure you got good service and they dropped you off exactly where you wanted to keep their 5 star rating. 5 star Grab cars usually costed between 11 k and 16 k rupiah depending on where I was going. What I really liked was if I wanted to go to Kota Indah I no longer had to explain to the driver where Kota Indah / Pangjay were since my Grab destination was on their GPS. I also liked the efficient cashless transaction through my credit card. I did tip some drivers if their drive was through traffic or they got me somewhere really quickly.
Pro tip. If you change your destination part way through a ride it will end up costing you a lot more even if the new destination is closer. Also, if you do a geo location for a driver to pick you up it may be more expensive that if you punch in a store name for a driver to pick you up from. From Kota Indah I walked to the auto dealership on Pangeran Jayakarta.
I also used Grab in Kuala Lumpur and they were good as well.

I hate using grab cars to come from my place to that area because the grab car drivers want to use a GPS and the GPS never gives them the most clever route so we are almost always stuck in ridiculous traffic. They don't want to change their route even when they are stuck in traffic because their fare was based on that route. Sure, the price of the ride is cheaper, but my time is worth more than a few dollars to me so I don't prefer to sit in traffic for hours.

Ok so fortunately I hooked up with a cute girl from date site for my first day and things were good. She was going to stay for 2 days. We haggled a bit over whatsapp and I thought she might be a bit mercenary but we came to an agreement. She showed up was cute, seemed sweet and we got along well. In the morning she got a call from her uncle about her mom being in hospital. She had to go which was fine but she spent about an hour trying to convince me to give her the money for the second day with the promise that she would return in the future. I gave her the agreed upon money for one day. I refused to give her money for second day which she promised she would come back for in the future. Now the unfortunate part. She left sent a few texts to ask for money then asked to come back to room and then she came up with an ultimatum that I put $300 in her bank account within 2 hours or she would go to police. All of these I ignored. I have pretty much made up my mind to ignore this black mail attempt.
Curious if anyone has any advice. I think the chats themselves pretty well identify that I didn't harm her if she goes to the police to try and claim that but I have no idea whether police here are reasonable or if they would be interested in working with her to get a cut, etc. An alternative would be for me to preempt her and go to the police to report what she is trying to do but I have doubts as to whether that would go over well. Any advice throw it up in this section please, unfortunately I cannot receive pms on here.
Hopefully I can put this behind me and have a great trip. Later I can post pic of her so others can avoid also.

You can tell from her attempt at extortion that everything was a scam. Your best bet in future is to give the girls very little information about yourself and no idea about your plans. Change hotels often and make yourself unavailable at the slightest sign of trouble.
I have been there, done that more times than I can remember with girls that had one to four too many drinks or Ludes (LOL) and could not perform on the night in question, but didn't you get in a quality morning shag? Girls are usually grateful for being taken care of when they are wasted and indisposed.

An 80 lb newbie who tried to keep up with the big girls drinking tequila. Went back to the bar a couple of days later to check with mama how she was and to our surprise she popped up and apologised for dampening our night!!
Her attitude deserved a few days extra BF and she turned out to be an absolute doll. Just keep her away from the spirits. 🤔.
