I'm visiting Jakarta for the second time. I arrive a few days before New Year's Eve, and I'll stay for about a week before moving on to KL. I already have leads through IG, Tinder, and especially IndonesianCupid. Moreover, I'm aware of the girly/freelancer bars, spas, parlors, and WeChat from my last trip. Many hotels offer specials for New Year's Eve, and many nightclubs and bars are holding events. It appears that the parties and events are marketed towards couples. That's not a problem for me, I have a few options from either women I met on my previous trip, or girls that I am meeting online now.
I've only booked a hotel for my arrival date. I'm staying at Harris Vertu Harmoni in Gajah Mada. Their rooms aren't available through regular bookings for New Year's Eve. The room must be booked through an event package. I'm reluctant to book because there may be a hotel with an preferable event or party.

When we say it has crappy rooms, that is in comparison to the very nice rooms at places like Hotel Classic which are the same price as Starmoon. There was a time when all rooms in places like that around Jakarta were that bad quality, but there are lots of nice new places with very nice rooms and the price is still cheap. I find it amazing that Hotel Classic isn't twice the price of places like starmoon.

Most western guys leave town and go back home to their country of origin or go to Bali for Christmas and the girls know it. So here is a very short review and some thoughts on these bordellos:
Malio Club. My favorite. I have been there so many times I can't remember how many. Haha. The thing I like best about the place is I never know what is going to happen when I get there, but it is always good. The dancers are wild girls and very entertaining.
Malioboro Lounge. Yes, the front side of Malio Club interconnected inside the building by way of stairwells and long hallways although not very difficult to traverse. This is the new flagship of the Alexis group and it is very impressive although I must say I have mixed feelings about this one. Let's see: I went there 5 times last trip. 1st night hooked up with my favorite Alexis girl from 2017. Great reunion, but later after that reunion night she became possessive, jealous and strange, so we could not get together again. Incredibly she made up and apologized at the last moment while I was at the airport leaving for Singapore. I don't know if I should see her again. The inner voice is telling me she is trouble.
The 2nd time I went there was with Syzygies. He had a terrible time. I met a great new girl and I wound up repeating with her 3 times total. Very GFE. Then the last time I went there I tried another girl when I knew my new repeat girl was off. This last girl would not give me a BBBJ. The imports in fact are kept in another room entirely and can only be seen upon request. On the plus side, this is the luxury venue of the group and there are a ton of hot, young, very cute Indonesian girls about, so I won't write this place off my list completely, maybe CBJ's are not the policy and the manager was only covering for the girl, but if that was what he was doing, he is an idiot. I never went back.
Emporium which is also run by the Alexis Group, by contrast is much smaller and more intimate and I prefer the friendly atmosphere in Emporium over the high gloss, frosty atmosphere of 1001. The fact that I met 3 great girls in Emporium, vs only 1 nice girl in 1001 says it all as far as I am concerned. Prices are a little higher in 1001, rooms are a little nicer, but not by much. An Indo 1001 girl is 1.4 plus the 200,000 drink minimum so effectively 1.6mil. Regular Viets are 2.4 mil same as was the case in Alexis, but now there is a model category Vietnamese for around 3.2 mil. I saw saw no discernable difference between the regular class and the model class of Import girls. They all looked pretty unappealing to me at any price whereas I recall some very hot Viet babes in Alexis in 2017 and earlier.
I never got around to the Colosseum Club. It looks really nice and it is at the top of my list of places I want to check out on my next trip. Like Tease Club at the Emporium hotel, I am not sure if you can only take girls to a room in the 1001 Hotel or can take them out to your hotel at a reasonable rate. But I am more than willing to go there and find out.
Classic is not my kind of place although I know some punters love it. It is too dark and service is spotty. Anyway, one of my favorite 2016 Malioboro dancers works there now, but she did not tell me which floor she works on. I could have found out and I probably should have gone to see her, but I never got around to it. I regret that decision now. Haha.

But in my opinion, the best thing about Jakarta that sets it apart from other places in southeast asia is that you can pick up girls anywhere in the city. You can pick them up in McDonalds, a Mall, pretty much anywhere around town as long as you are a westerner. Most likely they will want taxi money for their trouble if they do go home with you, but not always. Any time you see a hot girl anywhere, if you just walk up to her and ask her for her number, the chances are high that she will give you her number (sure, it won't work every time, but it will work more times than anywhere else in the world). Even the office worker girls will likely be intrigued. That is not the case in a place like Bangkok.

I've been to Travel and Classic and did not like the venues, especially non GFE service I got there. Like BB I find the service better at KI. Though its hit and miss there as well and hard to find a good girl. I may try Malioboro soon. Maybe tonight if I can't find my fave KI girl -- and take the trek over to Kelapa Gading at some point (though its kind of far for me).

My second Saturday night in Jakarta. I decided to give the FL venues and venues where some regular girls are also available a try.
First stop Basque. Nice place, classy. But girls are all on the older side. The few cute ones were already with guys (looked like on dates). Reminded me of Oskar in Bangkok on Soi 11. Older FLs, but a nice place to take a date. Flew the coop after one drink.

Starting at the bottom, you have the Kaki-lima push and peddle carts. They typically sell only one type of product but it can be very nice. These are often seen on the move or clustered around low end restaurants (warungs). The warungs may be sit on the floor or at tables and will likely have what they sell displayed in the window.
If you want a wide selection of food Nasi Padang is very common restaurant type country wide. It will have that written across the front of the building. The small ones will have the food in the window and you point at what you want. At the larger ones, you grab a seat and a waiter will fill the table with different dishes. Typically two serves per bowl. Whatever you touch, you have bought and can eat. Whatever you don't want just leave in the center of the table. You will only be charged for what you ate, not what you left behind. Sederhana Masakan Padang is a famous chain country wide and serves great meals.
Note that all of these will be found in commercial or residential areas. You will be unlikely to find them next to 5 star hotels.

First trip to Jakarta. Have been to other parts of Indonesia over many years, but mostly diving, scuba that is:—) .
Stayed at the Harris Vertu in Harmoni (reviewed in the other forum). Although a perfectly good modern hotel located very close to one of the "brothel areas", next time will take the advice of some on this forum and stay at nice hotel and area further south. Once you get used to the way transport works, it would make for a better stay. I used Blue Bird and mostly Grab. Grab works well. I never waited more than 5 minutes, although finding your pickup location at times can be eventful.
I was in town for a few days, but mostly unable to do really late nights / early mornings, so the places I visited reflects this.
Indonesia and Jakarta esp. Seems to have a quiet confidence these days. Compared to when I first came out, after the Asian financial crisis and the end of the Sukarno dictatorship when people did not smile and greet and go out of their way to be helpful. Now a different place.
Grand Imperial Spa. I like Asian spas, and as others on this forum have noted, this place caters for Japanese and Korean clientele. The "rest area" is almost non existent, but maybe more than most, with some basic tables surrounding the pools, sauna etc. There is a 'scrubbing' area at the back. This is not same place where the scrub is done that is part of the 'package', which is upstairs.
The (shiatsu) massage was really good, but the HR rather lame. I think my masseuse had, how shall I say, her boundaries. The scrub after was also good, and good fun!
I would visit here again, but only if I where in the area. Probably not travel across Jakarta especially for the experience.
Delta Spa (Harmoni). I wanted a good massage, which I got. This place does not have a sauna / spa, just massage rooms. Again, the HR was rather lame, and I asked masseuse to just forget it. However, as the massage was very good, she got a good tip nonetheless.
Malio Hotel / Spa. Went late afternoon on a weekday, so busy. Lots of very noisey dudes in the Sauna pools, so just took a shower.
The idea of having to sauna and bath in those shorts they give out at Jakarta Spas is not my idea of a sauna. Perhaps it's just the Northern European in me that feels one must be naked in a sauna. Perhaps it's a local regulation that enforces this, maybe just local custom?
Walked up to the 2nd Floor, "M-Bar" and took the line up. In retrospect, maybe I should have hung around a bit, had a drink and chatted to some of the gals.
Had a seriously good f Ł&k, with a bit of massage. Very friendly gal, with goodish English.
(In general, I really liked how easy it is to communicate with Indonesians, even in the grip of having sex.).
Sumo Spa. This seems like a long way out. Some rather amazing housing estate architecture on the way, if you do it in daylight.
BTW, the google map co-ordinates are way off (and so is the Grab map). Places this place in a foul waterway. I know that some Jakarta brothels can be low end, but surely not this bad!
It's located in two streets to the right of Kings Cross. Not the street the Delta Spa is located. I think Google has is as 'Sumo Shiatsu'. Maybe they will correct the map reference. If you get there after dark, there is a big neon sign, but in daylight, you may miss it.
Didn't use the Spa this time, went straight to the lounge. Lots of gal, big variety. Seems a friendly easy going place. I was there the afternoon of a Saturday. Took the VIP package for around 450 k and was shown half a dozen ladies. Again, had a really good session with very friendly gal. (Always choose the ones that smile and make eye contact in the line-ups.).
Would return, but this place is somewhat far out.
Emporium Hotel / Tease Bar. The Spa is nice, with a few good resting areas, and a few gals hanging around. Just took a shower. This was around 10 pm on a Saturday. Went up to the tease bar. Loud music, dancers, not dancers, "lady drinks" . My first experience of one of these in Jakarta so cannot really rate it.
Also, could not figure out how the system worked. I think I may have been told but could not understand what was being explained, and with the very loud music.
However, got a couple of contacts to look up later. A couple of very, very good looking gals. So spend a few hours chatting, and then went back down to the lounge on the second floor. Place was empty.
All the VIP ladies just looked bored, so just chose the one that was making an effort. Turned out this was her first night working. So a bit shy, but had a good enough session.
Definitely will do this place again, it's relatively "high end", with good facilities. Also a convenient location.

Jakarta is worth the trip, just need to adjust to its ways. Prices are low compared to other Asia places, this will remain as long as the RUP is the way it is. Maybe for not that much longer.
Also, there is a tenancy to inflate the bills at these places when paying at the end, maybe because I am westerner, but given the overall what you are paying, it's not (at the moment) too damaging.

Once the girl sees the family pics on the wall he's a sitting duck for blackmail which indeed happened. A short time hotel would have proven a great investment.
I'd agree that long term residents do have some advantages over new visitors. They know the ropes, are more likely to avoid getting into trouble I the first place and likely have the experience to be able to more easily get out of trouble should it occurr. The girls are also taking a bigger risk at extorting them as they quite often have work or business contact who can provide support. I know I've shut down situations by simply handing over my phone and suggesting she call any General in my contact list. Those aren't exactly up market establishments.

The actual music is called House Music. They mostly play dangdut house music in those places, but will also play house music with English songs as well. That house music is synonymous with dugem in the indo discos. If you do a search for dugem house music, you will surely find it. I actually prefer the dangdut version of it, I'm not a big fan of when they mix English songs.
I keep hundreds of those type of songs on my computer and play them every time I bring a girl home so she can dance for me in my place.

In any case, you should have gone to Emporium Spa on the 2nd floor. It is one of my favorite places in town. Kelapa Gading is another option. As I understand things Kings Cross and Sumo don; t get going until later in the evening. Though the girls there were not anything special enough to justify the trek all the way out there.

I think the reason you don't see many foreigners there is the girls who go there won't go home with you until 5 or 6am because they are there to get high and don't want to go home until their high wears off, and most foreigners in town have to work the next morning. I went to Puja Sera recently for the first time. Got to the slimy looking security to the right to ask about the price (I think it was 40 k entrance), heard the music, took a look at the clientele entering the venue, and figured this place wasn't for me. Hoping to share my experience as a newbie to Golden Crown. One thing that I did not get from was sex with any girls there that night. However, I went there on a Tuesday night not expecting it either since I was just looking to pass my time and have fun at the same time.

I spent an extended period in Jakarta (previously only short trips) and these are my thoughts. 7-10 years ago in Bangkok was probably my favorite period so that's my point of reference and always will be.
I averaged $94 per day for spending excluding accommodation, averaged just under one session per day. I look for good value, I'll average maybe 10-12 beers per night (maybe 6 of those beers are at cheap establishments early in the evening, my best night was 18 beers), eat local food or fast food (restaurants are awkward waiting for food while solo). I know enough Indonesian to handle a situation where no-one speaks English. I eat well and stay in shape when not on the road.
In terms of value, Indonesia is as good as it gets in Asia. A venue like Classic is safe, if you're there at 9 pm you have a great selection of nice looking women, there are no real scams, prices are great value, rooms are always spotless.
And really, all those venues whether Travel, Kota Indah, New Medika, it's all straightforward. They don't scam you (apart from the girls with shots but you just have to say no and then refuse to pay if they continue). The beer is reasonably priced, you can find cute girls and the prices are as cheap as you'll get in Asia. If it's your first time in Jakarta, it has novelty value compared to Thailand or the Philippines.
But it does get old quickly. It's like the Indonesians take the challenge out of mongering.
The venues are repetitive. The music generally sucks, it's extremely loud (if the music was good it wouldn't be a problem). The cigarette smoke really sucks after a while.
With all the venues being self-contained and taxi rides apart you don't get that buzz you get drinking in Bangkok, Manila, Pattaya, Angeles, Phnom Penh where you bounce from one bar to another all night long.
Blok M really isn't worth visiting. It's Mybar and Dee's Place. Nothing else. If you just came from Thailand or the Philippines you would wonder what the fuss is.
I thought CJs was a total tourist trap.
In terms of value, for $94 per day you can't beat Jakarta (I can't see prices remaining low I was staggered by how many tourists I saw this time compared to previous visits).
The girls are cute, they perform well enough, the prices are good value, but I end up longing for the energy of Bangkok or fun of Angeles City.
I did try Tinder and was shocked by the response. I didn't pursue anything. The first girl accused me of being someone else, then the next one seemed to not like the idea of a few drinks at beer garden. Preferred 'wine and vodka'. No thanks. Jakarta is mainly catered towards the local market (and secondarily, to the Japanese and Asian clientele) and thus the system caters to their play style. Many Locals / Asians already have wives and girlfriends back home, they don't go to a brothel looking for quasi-GFE as Westerners do. Usually its just for drinking / talking and sometimes ST, and they don't set expectations for more. Some of the girls I've talked to also don't have a good opinion / experience with westerners as some tend to be more terse while spending / tipping much less than their Asian counterparts, so that is a stereotype you may also need to overcome especially in places like Classic.
Westerners usually want pseudo-GFE experiences before sex. While this can be had, its not as easy to attain here in the brothel environment. If you are young and good looking, there is no need to go to brothels in Jakarta unless you are like my buddy's nephew and trying to learn sex from a pro. You can walk around any shopping mall and girls will be very easy to pick up. Jakarta is mainly catered towards the local market (and secondarily, to the Japanese and Asian clientele) and thus the system caters to their play style. Not sure how many on this forum are under forty, but that's the demographic I represent. By the time I was born, feminism was securely rooted in US culture. Growing up in school, that was just the way it was, there were so many. I had my share, and looking back, I deserve a medal for getting what I did in this society. Took grab to BART (Bar at The Roof Top) last night which is located at Artotel Thamrin. There was a live band playing but there was not much of a crowd that Thursday night. So, the hearsay about freelancers working there is not true at all. Anyway, the place was quite hip, more tailored towards the millennials with open area, pretty much like the Cloud lounge albeit at a much lower level. The cool air and low humidity makes this place a great place to chill out.
Anyway, I was able to strike up a conversation with a new, young, and very friendly waitress. She is from Bandung who just started work there three weeks ago and it was her first time to Jakarta, and was into clubbing and likes EDM. She offered me her WA info and asked me to bring her along the next time I hit all these clubs. Too bad I had already arranged myself a date (who am I kidding. An escort essentially and possibly with her good friend if her schedule lines up) for this weekend plus she had to work. Well there is always a next time. It is just amazing how I am able to easily build up this list of contacts for my future trip.
After a drink, I headed over to BATS (Bar at The Shangri-La). I have to admit that I had never been to BATS and just want to check out the place. My first impression of the lineup was a big Meh. The girls were definitely more mature than CJ. There were a few hot ones but in terms of quantity and quality, I think CJ's selection is much better. The only upside is that the live band was better and I think the drink was also slightly cheaper. It cost 150 K for a cocktail vs more than 200 K that CJ charges and also not get a watered down gin and tonic for that cover drink. One thing that I noticed is that girls outnumbered the guys that night. I didn't see many leaving with the guys in the bar that night. I even saw one girl trying to shake down an old white guy next to me for a tip. I asked him later what the damage was and he said about AUD10.

One thing that I had learned from my trips to Indonesia are that Indo girls are not reliable and making any plans ahead of time is a futile exercise. My MO in Jakarta is undoubtedly more different than the typical mongers. I value my limited time here in Jakarta more than the money I could save if I am to do XYZ. I prefer quality over quantity, and I perceive the dollar value of my experience over what I would otherwise get back at home. Hence, I want to share my experience and maybe the lessons that could be learned from it somewhere if any. Here's my version of this event.
I went to Malio on Monday night looking for a girl recommended by a fellow ISG member, and had a great time with her. Very GFE quality with DFK, BBBJ and even CIM. I asked her if she might have a friend where we can have an enjoyable 3 some overnight that weekend. She recommended her friend who lives in Cianjur (four hours drive away from Jakarta). We connected and agreed to meet up on Friday. Given that she hardly had any money to come to Jakarta where she even showed me a screenshot of her account balance (only Rp. 2000, seriously? I transferred some money to help her cover the transportation cost.

I read the forum, hear all these great things about CJs, get there and it's old women that have dolled themselves up. Average age of the hookers must have been in the 30's. Not to mention 200 k for a beer. Just a hotel hooker bar tourist trap.

I've probably stopped by Blok M 10 times in 4 years. Huge disappointment every time. Even after 2 am when it's busier. People on this forum should be warning others to not even bother. People talk it about it as though it's a legitimate mongering option.
Malio I haven't been to since they got rid of the naked dancing. But before that everything about it was overpriced. It felt like a clip joint with the high prices then arbitrary 30% service charge on top of everything. They had some nice girls there (too many not so nice girls for the prices they charge), but I didn't think they were any girls there that you couldn't get at Classic for a fraction of the price if you were patient (I enjoy the hunt). In Malioboro itself I thought the quality was inferior to Malio Club. For what they charge at Malio I'd rather stick to Thai gogos. More fun, can go to my room, maybe turns into long time, works out cheaper, more transparent.
Where Jakarta excels (only my opinion and many will disagree), are the places like Classic. Good price at 365 k, mamasans don't hassle me for tips, can usually find a cute 19 or 20 year old, drinks reasonably priced, pricing is transparent (I think Classic have a 30% service charge on drinks but it's still a reasonable price), rooms are spotless.
It's interesting how people can have a completely different perspectives on the same venues and same city.

On a more relevant and important point: I don't mind buying girls drinks either. It can liven things up. But I find I have bought far more drinks for girls in a Go Go setting rather than in a FL pick up bar setting like CJ's or Spasso (BKK) because the FL's aready have a drink. But on those special nights when I went a litle overboard and bought a bottle in CJ's to party and dance all night with a couple of girls - those were very expensive CJ nights, but a lotta fun.
