I agree that there are few things more irritating than a new poster using his first two posts to ask the same question but there is something about this RTFF thing that bothers me. You see there are now literally hundreds of pages of information going back several years available here and whilst it is a gold mine of information the specific nuggets which one seeks can be hard to come by.

The search function I find to be very poor, or perhaps I am using it incorrectly, let's say for instance you want to find information, as this guy did about Jalan Jaksa, well of course that information is going to be on the Jakarta thread but what you need is the specific dates or post numbers of the relevant posts, instaed when you type in "Jalan Jaksa" you will merely be directed to the Jakarta thread in its entirety with no idea where the information you seek is stored, certainly when you do find a mention it will be highlighted in red but heavens above you have to wade through a lot of pages to find them.
Smoothy has already answered your question about using the "Advanced Search" feature, so I won't repeat it.

You do make a good point about RTFF, yes there's lots of info to read here. However, if the average newbie scrolled back 5 or 6 pages and then read forward, chances are he'd find all the info he needs to get laid in this city. Especially now during Ramadan - just read Oyenk's listings!

You'll notice that I did give the newbie some info on top of the "RTFF" suggestion (Hotels Classic and Travel). Other than that, I'm not sure what else to do - why make it easy for a newbie who only asks questions without contributing anything in return?

NOTE: the "RTFF" only applies to newbies. I personally go out of my way to try to help any senior members who have already contributed to the forum and who are visiting Jakarta from outside the country, usually through a pm. And in return, I've received some valuable tips from other seniors for my recent visit to Singapore.

There is a dangkut cafe at Ancol just before you reach Alexis hotel. Around 12mn (presume close early these days) there are a quite a population of girls who work there hanging out to be picked. earlier today i headed up to the brothel on jl. bidara raya in grogol that i had posted about a few days ago.

Went to this area yesterday afternoon, again around 1 p.m., as I wanted to see Jenny (great tongue ring action) one more time.

Try Mercure Rekso Hotel, Jl. Hayam Wuruk, at the Olimo stop of the Transjakarta busway. You'll be a 1 minute walk from Kartika Spa, Stadium and many others, and a 5-minute taxi ride from Hotel Travel, Today Country in Lokasari Plaza, Bintang Mawar and many other MPs; also 5 minutes from the high-end Hotel Malioboro and several other places.

The hotel is nothing special however it is fairly cheap and in a good location for what you want.

Now, in return for this info, please write a couple of posts of your adventures in Jakarta. 'Tis better to give than to receive!

Hotel Boutique (2spas, Karaoke and inhouse massage..place is loaded)
Hotel Classic
Hotel Emporium(Strictly p4p)
And I guess there are a bunch more.
The scene at these places is pretty much like the hotels in Dong Guan.Pricewise is almost identical. From around 300K. The chinese and PRC type is more expensive.(info from malioboro and travel)

During ramadan the traffic jams seemed to be much much worse.Seems I was in a traffic jam all the time.Solution...Busway.
It's almost as good as the BTS in BKK.
From south Jakarta(Blok M) to Kota...one way 35-40minutes!! 1 ticket is just 3500IDR.
There are more routes..but this is the one I used.And basically this one route makes all the P4P places easily accessible.Even during the daytime!!
From the busway station its a short taxi ride to your destination of choice.

Harmoni station: Malioboro Hotel and Emporium Hotel
Olimo Station: Manga Besar Area including TC, Travel Hotel, Jayakarta, boutique Hotel etc)
Blok M station. Blok M night life area.

Just tips with regard to safety.
Taxi.BlueBird group is safest along with Gamya and Express.Avoid Sepekat(also blue) old President taxi.
Safest is to get a Taxi from a hotelstand or from Mall.
Dangers with busway...mainly pickpockets. They hangout around the bridgeentrance to station or at Blok M station.(if you believe the stories...one of the more dangerous places in jkt)
Service ends at 2200.

Why downside compared with BTS.....only Bus has AC.And station suffers from pollution from nearby traffic. Also lack of beautifull gals that you can chat up to like in BKK BTS.

Went to Maribaya Spa on the 6th floor of Hotel Melawai and can confirm that yes, the new price is 400,000 rupiah.

The 50,000 rupiah increase is split between the house (an extra 20,000 rupiah), the room boys (an extra 5,000 rupiah) and the girl gets an extra 25,000 rupiah.

This means that, of the total 400,000 rupiah, the new house fee is 155,000 rupiah (up from 135,000 rupiah), a small amount to the room boys (20,000 total?), and the girls keeps the rest, approx. 225,000 rupiah. I may be slightly off on the breakdown, but if I'm not 100 per cent correct, I'm pretty close.

Given this information, and the fact that the place has not been renovated at all (they don't even have new towels!), it's hard to justify paying that much money, when you compare the new price with Kartika and similar places. Heck, at least Kartika bought new orange towels for the customers the last time they increased their price.

It's also hard to justify tipping the girl on top of the 400,000 rupiah - I'm with Mangga on this one.

This increase may also discourage guys from choosing a two-girl session - 800,000 rupiah is a lot of money!

You can go no wrong by staying at Hotel Mecure Rekso. Take no taxi.

Most of the quicky joints are walking distance from your hotel.

In fact they are less than 3 minute walk from where you're staying.

Walking out from your Hotel lobby, turn left. walk 40 meters till you reach a road, cross it and walk on. 50 paces after crossing that road you'll reach a side street. That is where Kartika and Berlian are located. Stadium entrance is located 2 side roads ahead.

Should you want supermodel quality, you'll have to go across the road of your hotel and that opposite side is known as Gajah Mada. It takes a good 20 minute or more for you to reach a complex cum hotel called "Malioboro", Go to its SPA and voila! hundreds of syt can be found there. Bear in mind, for the model types, is about RP800k per pop. Russian WLs can be found there as well.

Kartika Spa is approx. 100 meters from the Mercure that is located in front of the Olimo bus stop. Walk out the front door of the hotel, take a left, cross the main street, then walk past the AlfaMart and Indomaret convenience stores, then turn left into the first alley. Kartika Spa is on Jalan Hayam Wuruk (down a side alley), just south of the intersection with Jalan Mangga Besar.

Walk out the front door of the hotel, take a left, cross the main street, then walk past the AlfaMart and Indomaret convenience stores, then turn left into the first alley. You can go no wrong by staying at Hotel Mecure Rekso. Take no taxi.

Most of the quicky joints are walking distance from your hotel.

In fact they are less than 3 minute walk from where you're staying.

Walking out from your Hotel lobby, turn left. walk 40 meters till you reach a road, cross it and walk on. 50 paces after crossing that road you'll reach a side street. That is where Kartika and Berlian are located. Stadium entrance is located 2 side roads ahead.

Should you want supermodel quality, you'll have to go across the road of your hotel and that opposite side is known as Gajah Mada. It takes a good 20 minute or more for you to reach a complex cum hotel called "Malioboro", Go to its SPA and voila! hundreds of syt can be found there. Bear in mind, for the model types, is about RP800k per pop. Russian WLs can be found there as well.

Also if you stay over the Sunday do not take the room facing the pool as they may have so call "private pool party" where they have fashion show plus sexy dancer. Models for the fashion show are so-so not the top notch but one is quite good looking.

As for the 4 "sexy dancer" only one is sweet looking and mine she is the smallest but with the biggest and firm boobs.

They have a Japanese bar on the top floor where you get a nice, young escort (mine was 19) to sit with you and flirt. You buy her drinks and give her a tip. I only went once, she wouldn’t come home with me. Not sure if I was unlucky or if that’s the norm.

MULIA. Mixed success here, but have managed full service several times at 800,000 RP. The best was a girl I had for a 7 AM massage. Before I knew it I was muff diving and then banging away. Walked one block over to Lokasari Plaza to take a look. At least three places here:

Today Country – located inside Lokasari Plaza building itself, one floor up from ground level. They asked for a 20,000 rupiah cover charge which entitled you to a free drink. With Ramadan over the activity is back to business as usual in Blok M. I have been doing my usual bule bar hopping and thought I would make a quick update.

(1) M Club. This place just opened the other day, replacing the building slot occupied by Lafonta disco. I had seen the staff doing practice training at Top Gun over the past couple weeks, so when I saw the sign lit up and I decided to stop in. It was definitely a soft opening as I was the only patron, but they quickly guided me upstairs to the second floor lounge area which had a pool table with a few customers and girls hanging around. A couple of pics attached - outside and second floor pool table.

The decor is fresh and the layout is spacious. You walk into a wide open bar/standing table area and there is a dance floor with a high ceiling. The theme of the place is "Music Lounge" and the flavor of what the DJ was spinning was definitely techno disco, although not over the top. I'm not sure how popular this music style will be with the bule crowd. Prices are the same as Top Gun. I ordered a drink and spent some time christening the pool table - nicely balanced as a new table should be. It will be interesting to see how this place develops. I just don't see enough customers or girls on Faletehan to support another place.

(2) D's Place. I stopped in on Monday. There was a little contest going on with a group of girls tabletop dancing topless AND bottomless. Woo hoo. I can't say that the dancing talent was that great - a bit long-toothed. And they didn't waste a second to put their clothes back on once the contest was over. General situation was still bleak on the second floor.

(3) Top Gun. Still attracting a nice crowd for the earlier part of the evening. Decent band nightly, which tends to play a mix that the crowd likes. I like Top Gun best to start the evening.

(4) My Bar. For the latter part of the evening, still my preferred venue. The bulk of the girls working the floor are longtime regulars, but there are always a couple fresh talents. A couple of weeks ago it was reported that Maribaya Spa (on the 6th floor of Hotel Melawai) in Blok M had increased its house fee from 350,000 rupiah to 400,000 rupiah for a one-hour session with one of the girls.

I've discovered that at least two other places used the end of Ramadan to increase their house fee.

Anggrek Panti Pijat, located on an alley off of Jalan Hayam Wuruk just south of Jl. Mangga Besar, one alley over from the Stadium, raised its house fee from 180,000 rupiah to 200,000 rupiah. Not a big deal IMHO; most of the girls here are young (late teens/early 20s), and many are decent looking. Since the girl does get to keep part of the house fee, add in a 50,000 rupiah tip and the place remains affordable at 250,000 rupiah total.

The surprise is that Bali Hai, located next to the bus station in Blok M, also raised its house fee for a session with one of their female employees in one of the rooms upstairs. The rate has increased from 150,000 rupiah to 200,000 rupiah, and the female employees will demand at least a 100,000 rupiah tip, costing 300,000 rupiah or more, terrible value-for-money.

For those readers who are new to the board, this is the infamous place where a male customer can receive a blow job while sitting on one of the bar stools. Hard to believe that this place could justify such a price increase, since 90 per cent of the ladies working here are over 35, many over 40! This place is also a low-end, run-down dump; while the rooms are no worse than Maribaya Spa, at least Maribaya offers several cute girls in their 20s..

Not the best location to be in, but not the worst either.

As Wismaasia has already pointed out, the Lokasari Plaza area on Jalan Mangga Besar that I posted about last week is due west of your hotel, no more than 10 minutes away. You are also 10 minutes away from Hotel Travel, which is on Jalan Mangga Besar VIII, a side road off of the main Jalan Mangga Besar.

Add another 5 minutes or less to continue on westwards to the intersection of Jalan Mangga Besar and Jalan Hayam Wuruk, where you'll find the infamous Stadium, Kartika, etc., with the Hotel Malioboro a few minutes further south.

You are also less than 10 minutes away from Atrium Mall (a straight shot south of the Sheraton Media), a great place for day-time mall hunting.

To the northeast (20 minutes by taxi) is the Kelapa Gading area, where you'll find Sumo Shiatsu, MTR2 and several other places.

To the northwest (less than 10 minutes by taxi) are the "PangJay" MPs off of Jalan Pangeran Jayakarta (Sari Ayu, MTR, Royal, Kristal, etc.), they are down two alleys to the right just after you pass under the railway overpass.

Continue another 5 minutes past the PangJay MPs and you'll reach the high-end Beverley Hills Spa and the low, low end Virgin Spa, both next to the old Jakarta City Hall and the Cafe Batavia (once rated by Newsweek as one of the best bars in the world). Another 5 to 10 minutes and you'll reach the high-end Alexis Hotel & Spa (one of Oyenk's favorite places).

Not counting the Kelapa Gading places and the Jl. Industri Raya places, there are at least 30 MPs within 10 to 15 minutes of your hotel in the areas described above. Oh, for Jl. Industri Raya, these places are relatively low-end (& cheaper); the best places seem to be #19, #39-40 and #47. Avoid #29, which appears to have many "lady boys" in the mix.

Unfortunately the well-known hotel night-club pick-up spots of BATS (Shangri-La Hotel), CJ's (Mulia Hotel) and 30 bar (Le Meridien Hotel) and the Blok M bars on Jalan Fatahillah are all to the south, around 30 minutes away in night-time, more during the day.

A note on distance and time: All of the times quoted earlier are for off-peak times, which would include mid-evening. During rush hour and other times with heavy traffic, a relatively short distance can take 30 minutes or more, and travelling across town can easily take an hour or more.

I am really from Singapore not local. But I have many local friends. I don't particularly promote Tropical but prefer to use the facilities there as it is my personal preference. I have been to and tried MTR2 in KG, MTR in Pangeran Jayakarta, TC, BM, Travel, Kartika, Berlian, and Rasa Sayang all in around MB. In fact I like MTR2 too but it is too far from town but near to where some of my friends stay. I do not try mall hunting as I am usually very busy so will go for the easiest way out.

I am current back in Singapore and may only be in Jakarta end of Dec. Will let you know so we can meet up. I goes in and out of Jakarta like once a month or once every 2 months and I speak bahasa because I am "baba/peranakan". Enjoy Jakarta, AsianRain+I'd visited Jakarta last August and was totally disappointed in D's Places. It was a Saturday night and the place as totally dead. About 7 days ago, on the last night before leaving Jakarta, decided to check out the KTV scenes. Roped in 2 local guys and we started checking out KTVs.

First stop is Sands KTV at Mangga Dua, near Novotel Gunung Sahari. I forgot what the mall’s name was. The place was huge and kind of high end (at least to my wallet). Minimum charge is Rup 2 mil until 2 am inclusive cewek minus tip. We were there at 830pm. The local cewek tip is 400k and PRC’s is 650k. That sounds like a lot of Rups and my brain start converting to USD. I think by my jaw dropped and my brain probably broke a gear when I finally figured out the amount. The 2 mil is minimum and according to the host for us 3 it will probably run up to 3.5 to 4 mil then you add 400k x 3 assuming you take local cewek. Tip is a must. Place was booked solid and we need to wait till 10pm to get a room. We left.

As for recommendations, since Cynthia is still back home, I suggest you at least check out Krista/Rista (#115). Hi TomII I found that when I visited that two nightclubs really catered well for the westerner 1. Red Square 2. CJ's both full of girls who don't mind meeting a western guy. I am sure some of the local Jakarta guys can give you addresses if you want.

I was going to reply to your earlier questions but JAD did a good job already. To re-emphasize a few points:

Hotel Mulia is an expensive 5-star hotel, for $35 you'll get dinner, not a room!

There are several well-known discos where foreigners are welcome, including three discos in 5-star hotels: CJ's in the Hotel Mulia (mentioned by Prof Designer below), Tiga Puluh in Le Meridien Hotel, and BATS at the Shangri-La Hotel (actually the latter is more of a bar than a disco). There's also the Red Square (mentioned by Prof Designer) and some other new discos. And you already seem to know of the infamous Stadium.

Nothing wrong with the PangJay MPs, however if you're only in Jakarta for a few days, then you'll keep busy at the discos, the Blok M bars, TC, some other MPs, etc. without ever needing to go to PangJay. As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, there are at least seven other places within a few blocks of TC, and there are at least a dozen MPs (Super, Kartika, Berlian, etc.) within a few blocks of the Stadium. And the Stadium itself has an MP on the 3rd floor, and you can bring some of the girls on the 4th floor to rooms in the back on the the 5th floor.

Mulia is far better than Melia for fun. Melia does not have a decent pick up night spot like Mulia has. However, it's not far from action. You will be right around the corner from Park Lane hotel which has Stix bar. You are also close to Delta massage at Gatot sabroto and Fortune massage on Casablanca. You can get to any of the 5 star hotel discos or Blok M or even Mangga Besar very quickly from the Melia since it's centrally located. If you have a choice though, go with the Mulia - not Melia. The Mulia is a nicer hotel in every way.

This may not be news to those who've lived here for a while and either take the risk or take precautions, but visitors who think that somehow the HIV thing is less of a problem than anywhere else should take note.

Actually, I did a bit of research on a random theory a while back and found that there seemed to be a correlation between religion (number of people who claimed to believe absolutely in a monotheistic deity) and AIDs prevalence. There were countries that were exceptions, but on the whole it rang true. I think there is a risk to what you are proposing but it's maybe not the risk you have in mind! The point I'm hinting at, is that getting involved with a girl's family could make it even harder to "escape" should you ever wish to do so. Going back to a girl's house will in itself be seen as quite a big deal; in the kampung there is always gossip and in order to "justify" their daughter's apparant relationship with you, the family will for sure be declaring you to be a potential husband. I received a phone call from Cynthia’s sister less than an hour ago (6 p.m. local time) to inform me that Cynthia had died around 3 p.m. this afternoon in her kampung (home village) outside of Semarang, Central Java. She had been home sick since late June, after having worked at Kartika in Jakarta since 2003 (with time off to give birth in August 2004).

Cynthia was 26 years old. She leaves behind her three-year old son Robbie and her extended family. Cause of death unknown.

Just in case it was a prank call, I called Rista at Kartika and she answered the phone in tears, and confirmed that the news was correct.

The Sahid Hotel, which claims to be a 5-star but is in fact more like a 3-star, has a Japanese bar on the 16th floor (I think), which I believe is the top floor. It works like this. You are met by a hostess. She takes you to a section of the bar with many young girls. You pick one and she sits with you and flirts heavily. You buy drinks for the two of you. After an hour or two you leave and give the girl a tip.

Of course I asked the girl to come home with me but she said she couldn’t. But I did get her number. On future trips I tried to meet her but it never worked out. She always acted all innocent, saying she’d come over but didn’t want sex. I lost interest.

The hotel that was recommended to you was Ambhara. It is very well located so much that you can walk across the street and get to the Blok M bars like Top Gun and My Bar. Also located right across the street is Passaraya Mall. It's a real good location. Also, you'll be able to get it cheaper if you go to the hotel reservations desk at the airport where you are getting your bags. It's called Indotel and you'll have to pay for your rooms in advance in order to do so by Rupiah or credit card. You can extend by going to one of their offices later in Jakarta. I'll put a link below to their website which I don't know how accurate it is, but it's saying 660,000 a night w/breakfast. The rooms aren't big but location is killer. Staying at other places in Blok M like Melawaii run probably in the 330k range. I used to stay there but it's a little ratty to me, and I got bit by mosquitoes as I'm a magnet to them. If mosquitoes don't bother you, you can go there. It's a farther walk to those bars, but once you know it, it's not a big deal. It can be kind of scary walking there late night though because of the darkness and might behoove you to just take a cab. Also, at night, you'll probably take a cab if you are with a woman in tow.

Personally for me, Blok M bars are great to go to for relatively cheap fun, but you don't have to stay that close. If the price is good for you, then Ambhara is pretty good location and it's a true 3-4 star hotel. It's great not to have to take a cab to go eat in the mall and then barhop. Hotel pricing for what you get in Thailand is not close, but this hotel will not disappoint if you can afford it. Otherwise, other hotels are definitely available but you'll have to cab or take a bus to Blok M. There is a hotel section here in the Indonesia section so if you haven't maybe read it. But the link below is Indotel and will show some pricing for them but you'll have to deal with them when you land and go pick your bags up. There's ATM's right when you clear immigration to pay in Rupiah, but for that much, you might have to charge it. There is another hotel reservation desk called Kaha right outside after you clear customs, but I don't recall seeing that they had a relationship with Ambhara hotel. You can check and the customs guy will let you go back into the luggage area to go back to Indotel to do business otherwise. At least they did with me before. Kaha seemed cheaper for the hotels that both did business with. They will even come to your hotel to help extend your stay for their price if you call them. Don't know if Indotel would do the same. You'll have to pay them cash though of course but it's all legit.

The hotel would not match the price given to me by the hotel reservations desk that's why I had to call them. It's stupid but they all do it. The website quotes for the hotels are kind of bs, so don't bother. The Indotel website below is kind of tricky to figure out but information is there, just find the links by moving your cursor around to see them.

Also, enjoy but realize it's not Thailand.

My 2 friends and I had to undertake a consultancy job in Jakarta last week. We stayed at Nikko Hotel. The hotel and facilties were good.

Two of my friends told me later that they met this pimp handing out calling card outside the hotel late in the evening and decided to try his girls. They requested for girls around 18-20 yo and this person quoted Rp500k for ST of 2 hours and 2 shots. When the girls were delivered to them, the pimp demanded money up-front together with taxi money (apparently for the girls later).

The girls (my friends found out later were around 25-26 yo and not 18-20 yo as promoted by the pimp) and after one shot immediately got dress and wanted to leave. When my friends informed their respective girls that the services was for 2 hours and 2 shots, the girls informed my friends that the pimp told them it was 1 shot only and not 2 hours and 2 shots, and that they were paid Rp120k for their service.

My friends called this pimp and demanded justification BUT the pimp denied having offered them the said package. My friends were furious when they related the incident to me the next morning when we had breakfast (with my SPG sitting next to me whom I met the day before at Taman Anggrek Mall).

I am relating this incident in this forum because I wanted to alert fellow brothers visiting Jakarta NOT to use the service of this person. The information on his calling card read:
