I have Tinder. And with GOLD you can set your location. So while I am at home in the USA I can set up Tinder dates in advance.

A review of the forum here suggested Badoo as a 2nd option. I set it up and got the Premium account, but I am not able to change the location as in Tinder. I tried everything I could, based on Google searches, but nothing works. All I get is locals here in PA.

I have said this before. Classic alone has enough girls to keep you busy for several times a days, at least for a week. You don't need to leave the hotel complex at all. Some new ones have sprung up but they are more family friendly than the old flesh pits like Joy's, Martha's and the Borneo Bar.

Add to this the general migration of girls everywhere from bars and brothels to online and it's easy to understand why the best options are now on the chat and hook up sites. Badoo, TanTan, Tinder and IndonesianCupid are the most popular. Yes, they do take more effort than walking up to a girl in a bar but as I said, times have changed.

Based on an upcoming trip to Jakarta, I decided to try social media as a resource. I opted for Indonesian Cupid, Tinder and Badoo.

I had used Indo Cupid last year for a 2 week visit and had marginal results. I did meet a part-time girlfriend who drove me anywhere I needed to go, as well as hopping on the "big banana" every chance she got. No money asked for. Though it was difficult to keep her at arms-length so I could meet up with freelancers.

I would also immediately ask for their WhatsApp number because it is much more user friendly for chat and picture exchange. This time in Jakarta I had all my meetings starting after lunch time, and in the evening we would go to dinner and / or drinks with local partners. Therefore I decided to concentrate on visiting spas and to try make a review of the current spa scene.

To make the review look more scientific alike I followed same routine at all venues: come visit them shortly after opening (approx at 11-30 am or midday), ask for the best room + best massage package, take some time at sauna before going for the session, do not ask a therapist about any extras by myself and wait for their move.

Forgot to mention, you can select destination from your location from the app hence no need to communicate to guide the driver. Grab app will do the guidance for you and the driver. FYI, most grab drivers speak decent English to be able to communicate.

To be on the safe side, I would write down the name of the place and the address on a slip of paper, all in capital letters. Then you can give the slip of paper to the driver. I find some of them who may get stressed talking to an incomprehensible babbling foreigner find that much clearer and easier to deal with. If there is further confusion you could find it on google maps on your phone and hand him the phone to look at at the beginning of the drive.

The hotel Shangri-La only has Silver Bird taxis waiting. Those taxis are Mercedes and expensive. They will, however, definitely know where you want to go. It will likely cost you 100,000 rupiah to go to Malioboro from there using a SilverBird even though it's close.

I personally think the worst taxis in town to take are Bluebirds. I know they have a reputation of being safe and the newest and nicest taxis, but they have too many drivers who are young kids fresh out of the village who don't know anything about Jakarta. Unless you know the way, they are lost. I can speak Indonesian, so I don't worry about taking them and telling the drivers which way to go, but I have been in lots of Bluebird taxis where the driver was completely clueless.

Express taxi is a good taxi to take because the fare is cheap and the driver will know Jakarta. Those drivers are experienced drivers. Pretty much any taxi other than bluebird will have an experienced driver. If they don't have experience, and they are driving an old beaten up taxi, they won't make any money.

But the best thing to do if you can't speak the local language and don't want to pay a lot is to install the "Grab" application on your phone and order a grab car. Those drivers don't usually know much, but they all have a GPS and will lock that in and follow that route. It's almost always cheaper using a grab car rather than a taxi. I do not have an Indonesian phone number because I find no need for one, I use my phone from the USA using only WiFi and never the mobile network connection. As long as I have WiFi (which is almost everywhere now), I can order a grab car with no issues.

Been a long time since I've visited Jakarta, where I still find the value and logistics unmatched. While there is traffic, it is cheap and easy to use Grab, Bluebird, and now even the MRT. Check to see if you can login from laptop or even you new Samsung phone. Once signed-in, It should automatically restore all contacts. Check your outlook contacts option as well. You should be able to get back all your contacts if you look into it. Let me know if you need any assistance with it.

On another issue, Bringing friends along on a first date. Not sure what this means in Indonesia.

I had many dates in the Philippines where they bring a friend along (I assume maybe for safety and comfort). Then the friend was always gone within 15 to 30 minutes. I got very used to that and accepted it as common practice.

By comparison, I had a first date shortly after I arrived to Indonesia in 2014. This was my first time in Indonesia. Her sister worked as administrative staff at Shangri-La and introduced us. I take Widy to dinner and next thing I know her girlfriend shows up and joins us for dinner at an expensive fucking Japanese restaurant (her pick naturally). At the end of diner we go our separate ways and I am stuck with a 3 million dinner tab. I got sucker punched on that one, but at least I learned my lesson. This was scamming on a scale I had never seen before. I took my girlfriends whole family (12 people) for dinner in the Phils and it cost me like $70 usd, and I was happy to do it. This was over $200 for 3 people.

I had another similar situation months later, where a supposed IC date shows up, with a friend in tow. We walk to Blok M mall in search of dinner. Of all the places to eat in the Mall, they choose Burger King. So I am initially relieved, until we order and I realize they are ordering 2 of everything! If she is hot enough, then I will entertain her and her friend, within reason. The last time I paid for sex was 3 years back and it was 700 for LT. I would accept that, Jakarta is expensive compared to other places but there are so many girls compared to the mongers. So, you will have good chances of finding a girl for reasonable price. I have reported earlier the pricing structure for Malio, and there is really nothing exceptionally memorable to report out on my experience there. Here are my some of my thoughts but again YMMV.

- On per hourly basis, the cost for these Malio girls are actually more expensive than what a quality freelancer would cost outside. I get this feeling that the girls are always rushing their session with you so that they can get onto the next customer. I just don't like that.

- Prior to entering the room, the receptionist would force you to shelve out Rp. 40 K to buy their condoms. First, the really bad. I can count on one hand the number of bad experiences I've had in Jakarta, and my experience at Travel was one of them. It may have been due to a couple of mistakes that I made, the first of which is I set out on the late side (close to 1:30 am). My recollection was Classic was open until 3 am, but when I arrived, ground floor said closing at 2 am (and there was little to no talent on the floor) so I left immediately and went up to 5th floor, but they were already closed, and the elevator guy said the same for 2nd floor. So I left and headed to Travel, arriving near 1:45 am. There, I was told they close at 2:30 am, and there were not too many girls around (maybe 10-15) and all looking very bored. Looks like there were different groups wearing uniforms specific to a mms. The ones wearing blue were brought over first, two young and cute things, but I wanted to see more, so I asked for the ones wearing the more flowery tops (who kind of look like airport employees). I'm not sure why Medika doesn't get more mention, I love the place. Robinson is a pain to get to, but it definitely has girls and it's the cheapest place in the city as far as I know. Berlian the girls are too old for my taste, and Kimochi Mabes has some stunners. Berlian and Kimochi mabes are just around the corner from Malio and Classic so they are also "close" if you are staying near Malio or Classic.

I was at classic today and bumped into one of my long time favourite dancers from Malio. So it turns out some of them rotate inbetween them, which is good to know as the prices in Classic are cheaper then Malio.
