I Have been checking the last few days on the SW situation in and around Izumi no Hiroba.Well, whatdya know, I was walking around various downtown Osaka areas with a Japanese friend at 9PM, and accidentally we came to izumi no hiroba. I had a good look and there was nobody either standing or sitting on or near the fountain - it was just couples and OLs walking past or people exiting the restaurants and cafes. Wrong time of day?

Tobita isn't anywhere from being a new location but just want to confirm that they will accept Gaijin with limited Nihongo abilities. My friend had no problems but he can pass for a Japanese.

Ok I have a report for everyone about Cocos. They used to have a club in Namba but it has since closed down. As people know. This new Cocos (?) takes foreigners. The guy at the desk was not phased at all that I was not Japanese. I was expecting rejection. Nice surprise. You must however speak atleast some japanese here. I was told that in no uncertain terms by the clerk.
To get there follow these directions.
Take Nankai Koya line from Namba Station. You can take almost any of the trains on the Koya line But NOT the limited express one. It is about 14 mins from Namba to the station you want to get off at. Sakai Higashi. Make sure you ride in the front carriage of the train because you will want to take the stairs closest to the front of the train. The fare is 250 yen one way from NAMBA.
This will lead you to an exit. Take the escalator down and turn right. You will see a major crossing which leads over into the arcade. Once you cross the street turn right. Walk about 50 meters and you will see a RESONA BANK. I have attached a pic for that. Turn left into the small street just before the entrance to Resona. Keep going straight until you see a Lawson shop on your left.
At that intersection (if you can call it that), you have to turn right. My pics should give it away but you should go three blocks after turning left at Lawsons. You will see a parking lot on your right hand side. Turn left there and its about 25m or so to the entrance. Go to the 3rd floor.

It's been great to read some reports on new places or places that haven't been covered in a while. I'll try and make it down to CoCo's sometime soosn and post a juicy report on the results.
Has anybody had any luck in Kyobashi? There is a high concentration of pinsaro places, fashion health and sekukyaba on one side of the station. Would love to know if it's foreigner friendly at all (or if they've relaxed their standards during these hard economic times) before I dive in.

I had heaps of time last night so I went to Izumi no hiroba and just outside to check the SW scene.

I noticed Hatguy mentioned Coco's in Sakaihigashi, and it really brought back some memories. I used to live in Sakai and Coco's was my favorite shop to enjoy before or after work. They used to have a great early bird special, so if anyone goes, check the outside sign. It was 5,000 for 30 minutes before noon.
As for the alley way of fugly, it used to be loaded with lots of Latin American hotties, as the street next to the Temple used to hold boatloads of Thais. But Osaka City decided to clean those places up, so I assume they all got shipped home.

Cross over from JR Tennoji like you are going to the Zoo, and after you cross the main street, turn north. There is not a lot there, mainly obachans, and it is only a block or two long. Also, a few Chinese can be found on the opposite side of the road.

I'm not an active member but I use to check regularly the latest news and I posted about soapland "Wedding Bell" a few months ago.

Then, he proposed me a 5000yen discount and I thanked him for his effort but the problem was still the same. So I may come back an other time.
Finally, he left the room for a few seconds and came back after a short talk (with the manager?) to let me go for 20k.
(After verification, this is the normal price for Japanese registered members)

You have just experienced what we all have, the typical Chinese upsell. While there are shops which provide cute Chinese, in a lineup, some who even will be GFE and not ask if you "are ready to come yet", most much worse.
If the tencho says an hour w/ FS for 10,000/12,000 etc... then you know you are in business, especially if you can negotiate 2 shots ahead of time. Some places think an hour means "until you come once", which could be just 15 minutes.
However if they are saying no lineup, "No Sex" and you are going to a hotel, then be prepared for an upsell with a girl who will be average at best. And since her price will always start out as more than you want to pay, you'll have to negotiate, which will kill the mood.

PantherThey've been going down hill over the years. I was there for a last bit of fun just I returned to the states. I've been meaning to post something about that.
I first went in the late 90s, and have been at least once a year since. They had three "pink room" courses. Y2K for a 5 minute private lap dance, Y5K for 10 minutes, and Y7K for a BJ. They had all sorts of fun games: every set they'd have a bingo game with prizes, have guys climb on stage for other games, etc. They had special "shows" like the good old hanadensha ("flower train", or pussy tricks) and SM shows.

Probably the easiest way to get there is to grab a taxi at Juso station on the Hankyu line. Tell the driver "juso myuziku", and he should know the way. I've heard the easily identifiable van's sometimes at the station, but I've not seen it.
I usually go on foot.
Directions from the station above:
From the east exit, I believe*, you'll be in a small shopping arcade. Turn left and walk through the arcade. Continue into the uncovered street about two blocks. You should pass several health and image clubs - I never had any luck getting in any of them. You should come to a RR foot crossing. Turn right and walk up the shopping street. (You should be on a street with lamps and bunting from the local merchants.) A few blocks up, you should come to a T-intersection, with the entrance to another shopping arcade catty-cornered to the right. Go through that arcade - it's another block or so - past the supermarket, and Juso Music is on the right just outside the arcade.
Step through the entrance way under the "Juso Music" sign, and you'll see a small ticket booth with a covered window (sort of like the front desk at most love hotels). There's a Y6K cover charge, with a discout as explained above. There will usually be a couple of guys out front, and they may ask for your yen and give it to the cashier or you can just slide it through the slot.
Once through the door and curtain, you'll usually be handed an oshibori. The last several times I was there you could easily find a seat on perv row. Most of the patrons will leave a jacket or bag on the chair to save their spot. I've never had any problems with things getting taken, but YMMV.
For those who aren't familiar, here's the set up of how everything works:
Everything runs on tickets. There wil be 3-4 guys running around the floor or standing in the back corner selling the tickets. There are two kinds of tickets - "dance tickets" and "open tickets". The dance tickets are 1000 yen and the open tickets are 200 yen.
The bar is off to the left. Beer's 800 and soft drinks are 400. I forget how much mixed drinks are. They have some food. You pay in open tickets, or cash - but your change will usually be in tickets.
A set or "stage" usually starts with all the girls coming out on stage dancing. The DJ (or sometimes they'll have one of the girls MC) will announce the names one by one and the girls will step up on the elevated stage, do a quick strip, wave, and go back stage. When they've all been introduced, they'll all come back out topless and you call them off stage for a quick "body touch" lap dance (details below). That'll go for about ten minutes or so, then the girls will all exit the floor. A lot of guys make reservations for the pink room at this time.
In a few minutes the first girl will do her set. Each set's usually three songs. The first one's usually just a dance, often in a cutsy costume, and the girl may or may not end up topless. There's usually a quick costume change and then she'll come out for the full strip. The girl will usually hit several poses. Finally, there's the "open show", where you tip. Before the girl comes out, you take one (or more) of those open tickets mentioned above an stick it on the stage - watch how the other guys do it. The girl will come on stage full nude or in a short wrap or skirt. She'll go around the stage collecting the tickets as tips, shaking hands, and giving you a short close up spread leg "open show". Some girls will pull you in close and cover your head with their wrap.
Also, at some point about midway through the stage, the girls will all come out on stage do a quick dance and then go through the audience giving free titty rubs.
The stages last about 2-3 hours, and at the end the girls will al get on stage and say thank you.
Oh, a quick note - the audience is usually pretty quiet compared. I know a few guys who've been politely asked to keep it down when they started cheering or cat-calling the girls. TIJ, so follow the Japanese way and you'll keep it gaijin friendly. (If I go back in a few years and find they're no long GF cause of some jerks, I'll be very pissed off!)
While that's going on there will usually be a few girls working the floor. Probably the easiest way to get there is to grab a taxi at Juso station on the Hankyu line. Tell the driver "juso myuziku", and he should know the way. I've heard the easily identifiable van's sometimes at the station, but I've not seen it.

From the east exit, I believe*, you'll be in a small shopping arcade. Turn left and walk through the arcade. Continue into the uncovered street about two blocks. You should pass several health and image clubs - I never had any luck getting in any of them. You should come to a RR foot crossing. Turn right and walk up the shopping street. (You should be on a street with lamps and bunting from the local merchants.) A few blocks up, you should come to a T-intersection, with the entrance to another shopping arcade catty-cornered to the right. Go through that arcade - it's another block or so - past the supermarket, and Juso Music is on the right just outside the arcade.
Step through the entrance way under the "Juso Music" sign, and you'll see a small ticket booth with a covered window (sort of like the front desk at most love hotels). There's a Y6K cover charge, with a discout as explained above. There will usually be a couple of guys out front, and they may ask for your yen and give it to the cashier or you can just slide it through the slot.
Once through the door and curtain, you'll usually be handed an oshibori. The last several times I was there you could easily find a seat on perv row. Most of the patrons will leave a jacket or bag on the chair to save their spot. I've never had any problems with things getting taken, but YMMV.
For those who aren't familiar, here's the set up of how everything works:
Everything runs on tickets. There wil be 3-4 guys running around the floor or standing in the back corner selling the tickets. There are two kinds of tickets - "dance tickets" and "open tickets". The dance tickets are 1000 yen and the open tickets are 200 yen.
The bar is off to the left. Beer's 800 and soft drinks are 400. I forget how much mixed drinks are. They have some food. You pay in open tickets, or cash - but your change will usually be in tickets.
A set or "stage" usually starts with all the girls coming out on stage dancing. The DJ (or sometimes they'll have one of the girls MC) will announce the names one by one and the girls will step up on the elevated stage, do a quick strip, wave, and go back stage. When they've all been introduced, they'll all come back out topless and you call them off stage for a quick "body touch" lap dance (details below). That'll go for about ten minutes or so, then the girls will all exit the floor. A lot of guys make reservations for the pink room at this time.
In a few minutes the first girl will do her set. Each set's usually three songs. The first one's usually just a dance, often in a cutsy costume, and the girl may or may not end up topless. There's usually a quick costume change and then she'll come out for the full strip. The girl will usually hit several poses. Finally, there's the "open show", where you tip. Before the girl comes out, you take one (or more) of those open tickets mentioned above an stick it on the stage - watch how the other guys do it. The girl will come on stage full nude or in a short wrap or skirt. She'll go around the stage collecting the tickets as tips, shaking hands, and giving you a short close up spread leg "open show". Some girls will pull you in close and cover your head with their wrap.
Also, at some point about midway through the stage, the girls will all come out on stage do a quick dance and then go through the audience giving free titty rubs.
The stages last about 2-3 hours, and at the end the girls will al get on stage and say thank you.
Oh, a quick note - the audience is usually pretty quiet compared. I know a few guys who've been politely asked to keep it down when they started cheering or cat-calling the girls. Thanks to hatguy for your advice. I have since been taking steps to enrol on a beginners japanese course at a college here in my home city. Would I be alright with basic japanese, other reports have said that they get by with virtually no japanese in past visits to tobita. Also for hatguy or anyone else would you be able to give me some more information regarding my ethnic look and its overall acceptance in the tobita area. This is a report for the guys that don't speak much Japanese but want to get laid here.

As you can tell, it's written by a Japanese person, so I was gratified that some Japanese guy had gone to the trouble of reaching out and letting the businessmen/travelers in japan sample a little bit of prime sushi. And for the newbies it has a pretty good English explanation of how to order over the phone - not a bad study guide for those who want to learn how to order delivery but have never done it before. Anyway, one link on the site was for a shop called “Secret Door” (the Japanese equivalent site is “Himitsu no Tobira”, although I'm not sure they want you to know that). The “Secret Door” site has portraits of about 10 girls, all young (20s) and reasonable looking.
Even though I've been ordering delivery health through only Japanese sites for the past year or so, I thought I might give this gaijin-targeted one a try and see what's up.
I chose Mao-san (so named on the English site). Go have a look – she's very thin, definitely in her 20s, and seems to have a nice smile (although the face is blurred). I filled out the on-line form, in English, although the form is not really detailed enough to explain what I want, but hey, this service is for short term stayers I reminded myself. Good for them for at least even trying.

No problems there. I called them up at lunchtime of the day and told them I'd like to keep my reservation for 7pm tonight, and asked them if they could suggest a hotel (actually because I couldn't work out where their shop was based, because none of their websites have maps). They did suggest a place and told me the address and that was it. (In retrospect this was all said in Japanese language, but I have a feeling the speaker could handle English if necessary).
So at 7pm I arrived in front of the love hotel and called them to let them know I was there. It was in the sex-shoppiest area of Umeda, if you care to know. And it was raining. I waited for about 10 minutes (you have to allow some leeway sometimes) then the the phone rang and they asked if I could wait a little bit longer, I said I could. … 20 minutes later I get another call telling me that it will take a little more time. I'm a foreigner, so I need to be nice - “Sure, but exactly how much longer?”, I said.
“Oh, about 20 or 30 minutes. I'm so sorry. Can you wait that long?”
Fuck. I already have my anticipations, I can't just walk away.
“Yes, I'll wait”.
I went to a bar nearby and had a drink.
25 minutes later I walked back to the hotel, and within a short while the car pulled up. I walked around to the passenger side door and looked in the heavily shaded windows to see my lovely Mao-san.
But the windows of the car were so heavily tinted that I could only see shadows of what was inside, and before I could determine more, the driver came up and apologized for being so late, and then asked for the money up front. That was new to me. Usually I pay the girl herself.

A few pointers about DH:
1. The girls are not likely to be the ones you see on the website. One reason is they have so much turnover. Another is some are shy. And of course some are ugly. However if they have some fee (usually 1 or 2,000) to choose the girl, then you can expect to get what is advertised. Although the clock may be ticking on the love hotel meter, is is better to reject and ask for another than take scraps.

I dunno if Tobita is THAT accepting of foreigners, unless things have changed over the past half-year or so. There will still be mamasan who don't bother talking to you, turn away from you, or will even snort and laugh at the idea of you. But there will also be places willing to give you a chance. A lot of it depends on the circumstances - if you happen to be there on a slow night or if the right girl is sitting out front (at my favorite shop, only 2 of the 4 girls who work there accept foreigners).
As you said, its a bit pricey - you're looking at 16,000 to 21,000 yen for just 15-20 minutes. No shower. And it's kinda out of the way as well. Plus, lots of mongers just like to keep options open and try new things. I have a favorite out in Tobita, but she sets me back 26,000 so I can't go out there as much as I'd like to. I dunno if Tobita is THAT accepting of foreigners, unless things have changed over the past half-year or so. There will still be mamasan who don't bother talking to you, turn away from you, or will even snort and laugh at the idea of you. But there will also be places willing to give you a chance. A lot of it depends on the circumstances - if you happen to be there on a slow night or if the right girl is sitting out front (at my favorite shop, only 2 of the 4 girls who work there accept foreigners).

You seem to be really confused so I will try to help you a bit.
First and overall, you should ask yourself this simple question : am I going to Japan for tourism or to monger ?
If your answer is « tourism », then yes you should definitively come to see this wonderful country and yes, you may have a chance to fuck a nice Japanese girl.
But if your answer is mostly « to monger », you better stick to your plan B (Argentina?) and go anywhere else but Japan to do the hobby. Why? Take your time and do your research. Basic rule of thumb. The harder they try to sell you, the less real it is. The real goods sell themselves. If you're nervous, foreign, have limited (or zero) language skills, and no one to help you out, the best places to start are Tobita or Kujo (if they'll take you). It's pricer than some of the others but you'll definitely get FS and helpful guidance. The differences: Tobita is more expensive (21, 000 yen / 30min) , girls are hotter, no facilities, handywipe cleanup; Kujo: less likely to take foreigners, not drop dead but GND looks, shower & mouthwash, slightly less expensive (15, 000 yen / 30min). I did take a stroll around there last night. The directions said Hankyu east exit, which is correct, but then said turn left into the shopping arcade, which is tricky, as there are several "lefts", depending on the way you are facing. I would say hook left (as opposed to go left) so you are looking down a short shopping arcade which runs parallel to the station and tracks. Follow that arcade out, (about a block long) and you'll be on an unlit road. Keep following that road with the tracks on your left and you'll pass a Mexican restaurant (delicious, authentic, a bit pricey) and some esutes on your right, and eventually a train crossing on your left. Not long after, the road ends at a rundown "garage" with rusting corrugated walls. Turn right and go straight, down a dark, old shopping arcade (shotengai). That ends, the road hitches a few metres to the right, and continues down another shotengai. Follow that one out, too, and just keep going straight down a regular, somewhat dark street. Juso Music is not too far down that road, on the right, with an aging fluorescent sign. Basically about 20 minutes on foot from the station.
Hope all that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is that I never even made it in! I got lost first, started following back streets and stumbled upon the place by accident, then decided to try to follow Echi Gaijin's directions backwards to the station so I could find it again in the future. It was still kind of early, so I tried out the Mexican place, ate my fill, made it back to Juso Music, only to find the old dude rolling up the mat at around 9:30. I asked if they were closing and he confirmed. If you're facing Nankai Namba, turn right at the Kintetsu Namba building and walk along parallel to the highway. There will be a fairly large crossing you will come to. Wanted to try out Tobita before I left Osaka, after reading all the great things about it here.

It looks like the Chinese places have been drained of talent, at least in Juso where I usually play around. After Tokyo, was in Osaka and of course, had to check out Tobita.
From the East exit of the Doubutsuen-mae Station, go through the covered shopping arcade to the South. Walk all the way to the end of the covered part, it's about 1/4 mile in total. The reports only exist if someone bothers to do the "leg work" and publish their findings. Most of these reports are about new experiences, so someone has been prepared go out and "experiment". It is not like "Lonely Planet" with a team of paid investigators doing research. As you are now in the area, perhaps you could do this and contribute something, rather than expect others to do it for you.
