Hi fellow members,
I would appreciate any advise you can give me.
First time to go to KL end of May, so trying to do the research now.
I'll be staying at Sunway for approx 1 week for work.
Can anyone inform me about the activities in and arround this area?
Should i try to move to a different place as from what i can read most of the action is closer to main city.
Any info you guy's can pass on regarding the HC's in area or FL's would be much appreciated, will be there also on fri/sat nights so will have free time if anyone is keen to go out as group.

Sunway Hotel has a spa. I hear it is on the expensive side though.
Across the highway, the Mentari Business Park, has one or two small hotels with spas/health centers (Roman Inn and Oscar Inn). There are also some pubs and two karaokes (one might be closed down by now).
Not too far away is Summit Hotel, where you will find another spa.
You can travel further down the Federal Highway, where you have more choices; Hotel Armada, Cititel Midvalley and all the way into the city. :D

Hi All,
Going to Malaysia. (Been near many years ago but not in KL before). Will be there for a week. I think my hotel is very near the center of the city (Le Meridien) about 2 miles SW of Petronas Towers. I have been reading past posts and google earth to try and figure everything out. I am looking for a really good massage and really cheap. The cheaper the better cause I can get several. You are in the best location in town in terms of local travel. The KL Sentral Station is just behind the Hotel you are staying; both buildings are connected and its just a 2 min walk.

You can check out the integrated transit system map here - if you Ok with most mass transit system its not that complicated. See this map here (at the right panel): http://www.monorail.com.my/facilities.htm
A caveat is that our KL system is not comparable to either Singapore's or Hong Kong's. But, it is good enough for a person staying in Le Meridien.
From Kl Sentral you have very convenient access to KL downtown and even to KLCC twin tower for shopping. Most areas for fun are within 15 minutes of a taxi ride. The KL Sentral taxi booth uses ticket system so you know you are getting a fair deal. Taxi from your hotel lobby is not that expensive either.
Getting to anywhere 1.5km away by foot in the area where you stay - IS TOTALLY NOT a good idea. Take taxi to Midvalley, or you can also take the KTM Komuter if you like to see everyday Malaysians on the go...hehe...not only you save 80% but also you see our lovely Malaysian belles at the shopping complex and in the train.
If you are travelling between 8 to 9am, and 5 to 8pm on a working day, take the Monorail, Putraline LRT or KTM Komuter train. You DO NOT want to be inside a KL taxi, while stuck in a KL traffic jam. The 2 main light transit systems of Monorail and Putraline LRT can take you to most areas within 20 minutes from KL Sentral, and they are very frequent too.
You should ask the hotel concierge for information on how to use these systems.
For really good and value for money massage (for a non-Malaysian) is KL downtown, especially Bukit Bintang (it is actually a main avenue or road). You can either take a taxi ride for USD4 or take the Monorail (the red line in the map) to Bukit Bintang Station.
Some of the best restaurants are located in Bukit Bintang area too; and there are more in the vicinity of KL Twin tower, but you need taxi to get around cause they are quite far apart.
The shopping mall at KL Twin tower has a few very good restaurants: You can try Madam Kwan's for local cuisines, and Chakri Palace, which is a Thai restaurant.
To pick up Malaysian girls you have to be patient - ask Freebie Fan..:D. Our ladies are still conservative in action (I am not too sure about their thoughts ... ;) )
Otherwise its better to p4p; try Beach club or health centres.

Meanwhile, would appreciate if any of you folks could recommend a girl friendly hotel. And if possible, a hotel where there is a bar or night club where I can pick up a girl and straight head to the room without hassles. Am looking for a hotel in the range of 3,4 or even 5 star is ok. You could also do same by going to "Pulse". Disco at Millenium. Snare one then also head upstairs. Both these are highly viable with good opportunities.

Went to the Health Spa at CC today. After reading the reports by the brothers here, decided to try the famous Mun Mun. Also called early at 4pm to make a booking at 730pm. With great anticipation I went there. Alas it was not to be. When I arrived, I was told by the guy in charge it would be 8pm. Then 815 pm came and went. Then 830 pm. Apparently they gave the 730pm slot to someone else. I gave up after 845pm and went home. Any advice for a newbie like me? Is it normal to wait like that despite booking? Or do I just show up when they open and hope for the best?

Have been at the Shangri-la and not only the price is quite affordable for a 4 to 5 star hotel, but it is completely GF.
Nobody bothers you if you take a girl for a ST at 10pm and you come back at 1am with two girls.
A bit of walk of shame through the lobby (the international status of the hotel calls for any kind of guest, including families and tourists), but just walk in and do not bother if somebody might think....the reality of facts! and head to the lifts.rooms are spacious, nice, and king size beds...very confortable! also for 3:))
It is located a few hundred meters from the famous Beach Club and a few other bars, it is also a walking distance from the KL Petronas Towers.
I dono thave records of anything (club etc) happening inside. But the Beach Club offers such a variety that you will not be disappointed or with no choice. Just think first with your upper head as there is a lot on the offer there and maybe the first choice is not the best.

Le Meridien is a hotel with huge lobby, and I have client stayed there before.
Most Malaysian hotels do not question much as long as you go to the lift with your company, and she behaves appropriately while at the lobby. Le Meridien is one such hotel.
Hope you have chance to visit some nice places around town, such as Beach Club, Bukit Bintang area, Health Centres, China Town and a few others. Please shop high and low for make benefit of the glorious nation of Malaysia :D

Prostitutes' clients to face charges

KUALA LUMPUR: Those who seek the services of prostitutes, beware.
Starting today, Dang Wangi police will not only crack down on vice syndicates but also on clients of prostitutes.
They will be hauled to court and will face the same charges as members of vice syndicates.
Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said yesterday that those who sought the services of prostitutes would be charged with involvement in vice activities.
Clients and vice syndicate members who are Muslim will also face charges in the syariah court for having illicit sex.
"They will be handed over to the Federal Territory Religious Department when we have completed our investigations."
Mohd Zulkarnain has pledged zero vice activities in the district following the arrest of 51 foreign women, believed to be prostitutes, yesterday.
The women, aged between 20 and 40, were detained in a three-hour raid at two adjacent restaurants in Jalan Medan Imbi here.
Seventeen were from Indonesia, 14 from Thailand, 11 from China, five from Laos, three from Vietnam and one from Myanmar.
Checks revealed that 11 were without valid travel documents.
Two local men in their 20s were also detained. The two are drivers who ferried the women to meet their clients.
Police seized two cars used by the men. All 53 suspects have been remanded for a week.
Investigations revealed that the women would wait at the restaurants for the drivers to pick them up and send them to their clients.
Mohd Zulkarnain said the syndicate had been operating the past three months. He also warned hotel and restaurant owners not to allow their premises to be used for vice activities or they would face the consequences.

Am now posting *discreetly* from the business center of one of the 5* hotels in KL (hint: Its near starhill!!). Just had a casual chat with the counter staff about having a guest to join me for breakfast, and she said its $52++ for breakfast only and $130++ to stay overnight and use the executive club's facilities.

Mohd Zulkarnain has pledged zero vice activities in the district following the arrest of 51 foreign women, believed to be prostitutes, yesterday.
The women, aged between 20 and 40, were detained in a three-hour raid at two adjacent restaurants in Jalan Medan Imbi here.
Seventeen were from Indonesia, 14 from Thailand, 11 from China, five from Laos, three from Vietnam and one from Myanmar.
Checks revealed that 11 were without valid travel documents.
Two local men in their 20s were also detained. The two are drivers who ferried the women to meet their clients.
Police seized two cars used by the men. All 53 suspects have been remanded for a week.
Investigations revealed that the women would wait at the restaurants for the drivers to pick them up and send them to their clients.
Mohd Zulkarnain said the syndicate had been operating the past three months. He also warned hotel and restaurant owners not to allow their premises to be used for vice activities or they would face the consequences.

If Shangri-latakes you to BC in 4-5 minutes walk /depends on the traffic light, lol, from the Petronas Tower will take you some 10 min. just an opposite direction from the a.m. hotels.

A nearby health club/spa would be Spa de Palace at Life Center on Jalan (Road) Sultan Ismail. It's close to the Beach Club.

I am in KL now since 3-4 days. I wish to thank all who helped me with their suggestions, when I asked before my trip. All their comments, in the forum and in PM, have been useful.
I am kind of disappointed of KL. The street scene does not offer much. I miss so much the wonderful Indon and PRC girls of Geylang Singapore! I never saw such beautiful PRCs (and so many all together!) as there.

I am an ardent fan of KL street scene; never been to Geylang, but bear in mind that Geylang is a legal scene, while Chow Kit is not. Anyway, I would suggest you visit the Chow Kit girls again at later time, say 2am, 3am. OR, go before 10pm. The place you should go is not Chow Kit Rd but the road parallel to it. There is an open car park located behind the building. Many of them ply their trade there. You have to be patient, unless you have regular girls there.

Kaki very good report, I m a" bule"quite familiar of local scene. ; so I will give you my advices going to chowkit at 1 on 2 Am is not a good idea. Because all the ladyboys invade the place and they are very numerous. Second from my experience I always prefered to go in chowkit at between 8 or 10 pm (during the day also) just because the girls are more clean, I mean they don t take their "ice baby" yet.

This is not intended as a guide to KL food. It's just few lines on 2-3 places that I liked (I've been there only 1 week, folks, dont jump on me because I lost the best). If you are the kind of people who goes to KL to enjoy the food of McDonald or of Planet Hollywood, then dont even bother to read this. I talk to people who is curious to try local things.
SAFETY OF STREET FOOD
One of the most common things that happens to European or North-American people travelling to Southern countries is having a diarrea after eating fresh fruit, drinking water, etc. It's just a matter of "how many" and "what" bacteria are proliferating due to warm temperature and different cleanness concept: we are simply not used to that. If local people can eat something safely, this does not mean that we can do the same.
Said this, in KL I ate almost anything and in any place, even street booths, without having any pain or problems (at least till now, :-)).
I would encourage everybody to be not afraid: KL is not India (i.e., the only place where I had problems, but after drinking some tap water with local friends due to lack of anything else to drink one evening; needless to say, they have no problems at all drinking it). However, if you are used to the look of kitchens in Swiss restaurants (such a clean, but such a boring place), then dont even try in KL to venture to look from where your food you are eating is coming from (or how dishes are "washed").
JALAN ALOR (BUKIT BINTANG)
It may be a compromise between being "adventourous" and being "conservative". Lots of restaurants of any kind, with tables on the street. Why to look at the kitchen? Just look at your dish and judge the taste.
On the average, these restaurants will overcharge you, compared to non-central locations, but I think it is acceptable. The fish looks fresh.
I avoided the first ones at the beginning of the street, where customers are *only* white tourists. I think that at the middle of the street there are some good ones. Customers must be tourists also there, but at least they are Asian :-)
Price for my dinners (1 big fish, veggies, fresh fruit juices) about 40-50 RM. Adding one big crab or prawns, I never exceeded 70RM.
The one with alive fishes is always empty. I think because more expensive. It waw good and the fish was fresh by definition. I spent 70RM.
I dont remember the name of my favourite place, but I give you a hint. It is a bit after the Budget Inn (other side of the road), coming from the centre. They sell pirate DVDs in front. It is in the middle between two restaurants with same name and owner. I think it's Chinese. They have a small window box with fruits at the left side (they prepare juices) and an ice desk with fishes at the right. I suggest to Europeans and Americans to try the grilled "chicken fish" or the stingray. I spent 50RM.

On the west side, I enjoyed a great meal. Tables and a few places with cooked food exposed on buffet. Take a rice (nasir) plate and pick your food. Fish, meat and veggies. Total damage for my plate and a Pepsi: 9RM.

Just came back from Horizon. Went there at about 2pm.
