No need to worry. Cheaper than airport.For someone who travels to KL and plans to stay enough to need a local SIM for data traffic, there are several options, which show up in the following order:

1) At the KLIA airport, if I am not wrong just before the immigration (I can be wrong on this, maybe after, as they moved 2 years ago and my memory is still confused). There are 3 providers side by side. I usually choose Digi, but I have no special reason for that. I just took the yellow the first time, then I never changed. I never waited to be served more than 2-3 minutes, as the Chinese guy is extremely efficient.

2) Again at the KLIA Airport, just after the arrival exit, near the ATMs where I suggest you take your cash for the night and first expenses in town.

3) After that, I suppose you will take the KLIA Express to KL Sentral. At KL Sentral, there are MANY booths of all providers.

4) If you still don't have it, once settled in your hotel there are many around the Bukit Bintang area, Pudu, Chinatown, Chow Kit, anywhere.

My recommendation is to buy it as soon as possible at 1). I am not sure if it really costs few ringit more, but the price difference is negligible, as I want to be online immediately, to be able to check my contacts as soon as I am waiting the KLIA Ekspres. Moreover, having my SIM card at the airport means that I have one less thing to do once I am in town.

There is a taxi desk there that will you will give you a flat rate to any destination. You pay at the desk and give your driver the paperwork. I paid RM 17 to get to Bukit Bintang last night. A better idea is to take the monorail from Sentral to Bukit Bintang station. Very easy to do. The bars are on Changkat which is an easy walk from the BB monorail station. Going back to your hotel, taxis will ask for R30 from Bukit. They will easily negotiate down to R20 which is what I paid last night. Every now and then you'll find a taxi that uses a meter at night. But they are few and far between. Deluxe Spa at the Federal Hotel is in the BB area. The spa on the 5th floor at Hotel Soliel is a 1 minute walk from the Changkat bars. I don't know of anything near the Hilton other than very low end stuff that I didn't bother to check out. I'm in Sihanoukville today. Back to KL in a few days. KL is a nice change of pace from your home base in Thailand.

Another piece of advice I would like to share with a newbie is this; when you make plans to visit a place, usually it is months in advance. At that time, subscribe to all the threads you want to relevant to that country. Destination. I recommend daily notifications. Its a method for hoteliers in those places to garnish extra $$$ from tourists in those towns. According to a blog by a Hat Yai based expat, the joiner fee is otherwise unheard in Thailand, outside of BKK and Patts. However, the impact of this seems to be that travelers throughout Southeast Asia are now burdened with the concept of "guest friendly" whereas it is a localized problem in a few parts of Thailand.

For some reason, the Asian sections are FAR MORE VAGUE. (Legal issues maybe? You can have your beer at shop at the 1st floor and foreign FL start to go to your table to offer their service. If you're agreed, they will take you to their place above on that building. The price usually start from RM80 to RM100/1 hrs /45 minutes and maybe with RM20 tips.

Its a rare chance you'll meet local FL if you don't have local friend to guide. We have different races at here, Malays, Chinese and Indian are the majority of races in KL. Sometimes you will meet Indonesia that claims as Malays, PRC who claims as local Chinese and etc. Some forum have different food label for each races exp; Malays as NL = Nasi Lemak, local Chinese as CKT = Char Koay Teow, Indian as Capati, Indonesian as Bakso and Thailand as Tomyam. Max 10 minutes (in air conditioned areas) across KL Sentral, then up the escalators, then straight across the Nu Mall, then there you are at the KL Sentral Monorel station. You buy tickets from automatic machines there just before passing the gates.
I always take the Monorel to go to Medan Tuanku. Taxi has the problem of traffic jams, which from KL Sentral to Bukit Bintang can add unpredictable delays.
(Bukit Bintang means "Star Hill", Monorel is the Melayu word for "Monorail")

I have an extensive experience with CL in KL over the years. Over the dozen+ of fat hogs and the dozen+ of fake couples or fake ladies who I discovered online or met in person, I met only TWO ladies who were worth meeting (one 40+ regular office lady, another 35 cleaning service lady working at KLCC, both not looking for cash). The ratio is disappointing and not worth playing with, unless one is stationed in KL for a while. Then, yes, one becomes willing to play beyond.
