I was in Mandalay two years ago and my courage was bolstered
with a fair amout of the Mandalay rum, just superb @ $1USD per btl. I asked one of the samlor drivers where the "lady house" was. I thought he understood. After we got to the edge of town, I realized he didn't understand English. We finally hailed a guy on the street who understood what I was after. We
ended up about a block from my hotel, and got taken upstairs past some iron gates to a room with about 10 Burmese girls. The one I chose was really good looking, and loved to screw. Went into a back bedroom and did the short-time thing for about $20 USD. Ask the locals, as I think the location of these places changes.
Mandalay January 2004:
I was there during Chinese New Year which might had to do with my complete failure to score. According to my guidebook, the cheap Chinese run hotels double as brothels, so I stayed in one.
I asked my receptionist to bring me a few, but after an hour he called, apologized and said they could not come tonight.
So I guess they are there, it just requires some planning.
As it was stated earlier in this thread, it is amazing how little action there is in Mandalay, especially given the fact that the city is the number one boomtown of the entire northern region, a crossroads of illicit dealing with arms, drugs, gems, narcotics etc.
Everywhere else in the world, this together with extreme poverty would be the guarantee for a thriving sex trade. Not so in Myanmar.
I visited Mandalay in November 2004 with a Burmese friend of mine, and we stayed at the Mandalay Swan Hotel, one of the big tourist places (not girl-friendly, by the way)
The first night, we would check out the scene and went to a couple of Karaoke Bars between Mandalay Fort and the river, where the red light scene traditionally was centred. We tried 2 places, inviting some smiling and giggling girls to our table, but they seemed to be scared to get in touch with me, the foreigner. As usual, they did not speak English, either. My friend found out, that these girls have stopped going home with clients altogether, as the government has imposed some very strict rules and really is cracking down on prostitution at the moment. Many of the girls have gone to jail, probably not a good option for a young girl in Myanmar...... Jesus! I could physically feel, how scared these girls are about what could happen to them. This night, we finished off the beer and went home. My friend, who is from Yangon, seemed to be quite shocked.
The next days, I took things in my own hand. There is a tuk-tuk stand at the crossroads of 66th and 26th street, close to the Marionette Theater. Ask one of the younger boys, and they can bring you to a small village about 3 km southeast of the city. Before people let you in in one of the huts, you have to pass some guards, no way doing this alone without a Burmese. When I was there, there were about 6 girls sitting in a row, and at least the same number of potential clients. Quality wasn't good. Burmese girls, especially from the North, tend to be kind of sturdy and round-faced, much different from the gentle sleekness of Thai or Philippine girls. But these girls were busy, albeit their looks! I thought about the lack of hygiene at this place, and this combined with the steep asking price of 25.000 kyat for a short-timer let me turn down the offer.
A discussed prices with my tuk-tuk-friends. Fortunately, they still had an option. They know a freelancer not far from their taxi stand, a nice student, as they told me. We went to the place, located in a private house. First contact through a curtain. After introduction, Mama San presented her treasure: not a stunner by any means, but a neat, average Burmese girl around 20. Hard bargaining for the price, but no way to push it down - they know they almost have a monopoly these days.
I agreed for the price and we went off to a side room, which had no ceiling, but was connected with the other rooms. The room was almost dark, in this case it did not matter. The girl spoke decent English, and we had a good chemistry right from the start. We started really soft and slow and whispering, because Mama San was sitting next door. That really turned me on! She was warm and soft and wet. One of these experiences that proof that good sex is more about feelings and chemistry than about good looks.
Damage: 35.000 for the girl (1 hour) and about 4 kyats for the assistance.
The closest you can get to a good experience in Mandalay.
Have someone new informations about girlfriendly hotels and places where can find girls for ST or LT in Mandalay?
MANDALAY. By Rudyard Kipling.
By the old Moulmein Pagoda, lookin' lazy at the sea,
There's a Burma girl a-settin', and I know she thinks o' me;
For the wind is in the palm-trees, and the Temple-bells they say:
"Come you back, you British soldier; come you back to Mandalay!"
Come you back to Mandalay,
Where the old Flotilla lay:
Can't you 'ear their paddles chunkin' from Rangoon to Mandalay?
On the road to Mandalay,
Where the flyin' fishes play,
An' the dawn comes up like thunder outer China.
'crost the Bay!
'Er petticoat was yaller an' 'er little cap was green,
An' 'er name was Supi-yaw-lat. Jes' the same as Theebaw's Queen,
An' I seed her first a-smokin' of a whackin' white cheroot,
An' a-wastin' Christian kisses on an 'eathen idol's foot:
Bloomin' idol made o' mud.
Wot they called the Great Gawd Budd.
Plucky lot she cared for idols when I kissed 'er where she stud!
On the road to Mandalay,
Where the flyin' fishes play,
An' the dawn comes up like thunder outer China.
'crost the Bay!
When the mist was on the rice-fields an' the sun was droppin' slow,
She'd git 'er little banjo and she'd sing "Kulla-lo-lo!"
With 'er arm upon my shoulder an' 'er cheek agin my cheek.
We useter watch the steamers an' the hathis pilin' teak.
Elephants a-pilin' teak.
In the sludgy, squdgy creek,
Where the silence 'ung that 'eavy you was 'arf afraid to speak!
On the road to Mandalay,
Where the flyin' fishes play,
An' the dawn comes up like thunder outer China.
'crost the Bay!
But that's all above be'ind me. Long ago an' fur away,
An' there ain't no buses runnin' from the Bank to Mandalay;
An' I'm learnin' 'ere in London what the ten-year soldier tells:
"If you've 'eard the East a-callin', you won't never 'eed naught else."
No! You won't 'eed nothin' else.
But them spicy garlic smells,
An' the sunshine an' the palm-trees an' the tinkly Temple-bells;
On the road to Mandalay,
Where the flyin' fishes play,
An' the dawn comes up like thunder outer China.
'crost the Bay!
Just back from Mandalay.
While nothing like Yangoon, it has some action for the persistent.
Place: Honey Massage.
Location: Corner of 30th and 71st street. Opp the Ba Htoo stadium.
There is typical building with a "massage" sign outside. There will be a couple of guys sitting at the entrance lounging / chewing pan.
They know what you want. .
They have 3 options. Normal, special and super special.
I took the special at 10, 000 kyats.
You cannot choose but what they sent was worth the 10K.
Standard massage, flirting and HJ. Tips was another 10K.
So all in all 30 dollars.
Very high compared to Rangoon but they I had to conquer Mandalay too.
Have fun and stay safe!

Is it possible to take girl for overnight?
Not much information on mongering in Mandalay is available. Some newspaper articles indicated sex trade was quite active in the city and recent significant influx of Chinese money was likely to encourage it even more. But I did not see anything that was obvious to me. I suspect you need a local connection and speak the language to take advantage of KTVs and other sources of carnal pleasure. According to one of the articles there are streetwalkers by the river, however, I did not have the time or opportunity to check it out. Even though I spend two days of my four days visit in Mandalay in bed due to food poisoning, I did somehow manage (at my SO's surprise) to go out and buy some pop and digestive cookies, as my whole family was sick. Digging deep I went in search of a massage parlor not far from my hotel, mentioned by a previous member, namely the Honey Massage on 30th and 7ist streets, across the stadium. Unfortunately, I did not find any massage parlor in the vicinity (it was dark) , and when I asked couple of bike taxi riders, they did not know of the place. I only saw a sign pointing to KTV on a nearby street. English is very limited in Burma and getting anything across, especially regarding something naughty, can be a challenge. I did eventually get a taxi guy who did say lady massage at 10000 kyat / hour. He was going to take me there, but unfortunately I ran out of time. I regret I did not use this approach earlier-just asking a motorbike taxi guy to take me to a lady massage place, The worst thing would have been to get a cheap massage. In the times I have been driven around the city I saw only two massage signs (in English). One on the Great Wall Hotel and the other across the To To Myanmar Cuisine restaurant-ironically the place where we all likely got our food poising, which put a real kibosh on my mongering aspirations.
ConquerorVal,
Sorry to hear of your illness. It's a scary helpless feeling, worse if you are alone. Some years ago I was in Bangkok with a severe fever and flu. I was in bed for four days, could hardly get out of bed. Unfortunately I didn't speak a word of Thai and the housekeeping man did not speak a word of English. He did not have the intelligence to call the front desk. Just left me there for four days although he gave me bottled water. All I needed was aspirin, Tylenol or ibuprofen to fight the fever. But he just could not understand. Anyway, I learned my lesson. Now I travel with a horde of medicines.

Sorry, I hit the send button too soon.
I will be going to Mandalay in about a week. I don't know how many days I will stay there before going on to Yangon, depends of what's to see and do. My purpose is touring and sightseeing, only mongering on the side if there's opportunity (or else I would stay in Bangkok or go straight to Yangon). Anyway, I hope to find something regarding our hobby and contribute to this extremely weak thread.
One thing I learned from traveling around the world is if you don't find anything yourself, ask the guys who work in your hotel or the taxi drivers. They all know or can find out although YMMV.
I have one question: I have not booked my hotel. Which area of town should I stay that's convenient (and GF)? I am not in the Sheraton-type class.

how wrong i was in my confidence expressed in my previous report. no wonder no one post anything on this thread lately.
i have been in town for 3 days. i have not been able to find anything related to our hobby. first of all, i don't think my hotel is gf. there was too many young male and female staff milling around. some of them look ****. i don't even want to ask them about mps & fls.
i tried to ask a couple taxi and motorbike taxi drivers. they gave me blank stares. i think language is a huge problem. i rented a motorbike for two days and took a 3-neighboring city tour on one day. i went sightseeing as well as keeping a lookout for bars and mps. i didn't find anything. i also could not find the great wall hotel. i did find the new great wall hotel on 33rd st at 83rd st but there was no mp around. i did see mandalay hill, mandalay palace, and 16 temples and pagodas in 3 days!
tonight i have one more shot.
