rates - the old, old story
My modus operandi is give them 20 GHC - ST or LT - and LT can mean 1 night or several nights.
GC:
sure, if the girl accepts one could give them 20 Cedis as well, but IMHO that would be slightly too little! 30 Cedis for LT (40 Cedis if the service was outstanding) should be fine and acceptable for any Obroni (the 15 to 20 Cedis GC is referring to would be the going rate for local guys I was told!)!
Gentlemen, like Roman Guy I always advocate not to overpay, but IMHO it should not be a serious problem if Obronis like us are a 'little generous' (and I mean it only in the aforementioned range, just to avoid misunderstandings!).
Cheers!
Roman Guy and Hesekiels,
I think I know the difference in our payments now - I don't do pros and I guess for a pro, 30-40 is fair. For non-pros, I still maintain that 20GHC is enough and all the girls seem to be happy.
I know a German guy here who pays even less to non-pros - something like 10 GHC but then again, he only ever gets ST or just a BBBJTCWS.

Dear collegue,
I don't know exactly how true is this affirmation.
If one means as pros a girl hanging the night in places like Jocker's or Makumba or Waikiki or even Labadi by day I think they move on a standard fee with exceptions for particualry requests or very stupid men.
The problem - IMHO - are the regular girls.
If they lead a low cost life like the carriers, market vendors or street cookers maybe will be happy with 10-20 but a student or a bank accounter maybe will hurt our wallet deeply.
Regular girls spend longer time with us and go out, pass in front of market places, demand for wigs, extentions, bags, shohes and are used to computers, sophisticated mobiles, i-pod, home theatre ...
A pro or semi pro is more forecastable for "taxi money" request but a regular - giving indeed more satisfation - might be even 10 times more expansive.
The pro, the pro GF, the white collar girl and the shop girl...
The way I see it, there are 4 types of girls in Ghana:
1) The Pro - these are the pure professionals and they're pretty straight forward - negotiate an amount and away you go.
2) The Professional Girlfriend - these are the girls who always dress like they're ready to go nightclubbing. They usually say they're working as a hairdresser or seamstress but really they don't have a steady job. They usually have 3 or 4 boyfriends that they juggle their schedules with and you never negotiate money with them. They're the ones that will cost the most as you may get away with GHC 20 "taxi" money but they will inevitably ask you for units, mobile phones, hairdressing money, clothes, etc... University girls fall in this category.
3) The White Collar Girl - These are girls who work at a real job - usually in an office, bank, school, etc.. and are somewhat financially stable. These are the least expensive as they have their pride in their financial stability but they're also the toughest to get. Usually, 5 GHC for taxi is enough as it's truly just for taxi. IMHO, they're the best types as you get true GFE from them without feeling like an ATM machine.
4) and last but not least, the Shop Girls - these are the easiest and cheapest forms of entertainment in Ghana. Go to any shop, chop bar, provision stand, street vendor, etc... see a girl you like, start talking to her, make a date, fuck them, and give them GHC 10 and everybody's happy. These girls are from poor families, never go out, are starved for attention and if you start talking to them, they'll go out with you.
Just remember that all girls in Ghana love and NEED to fuck so it is our job to fulfill that need.

Global Citizen, you deserve a beer for this schema.
If it isn't true, it's still very cool.
If it is true, it is a superb mongering aid for those of us who live life by putting things into categories and then approaching individual instances through the general principles of the categories....in short, great for the obsessive-compulsive, overly analytic mongerer.
Off to the embassy in the morning for a visa.
Cheers.
