Yaounde: nfo about night life.
Hi,
I have just known in Yaounde the discos (iCameroon discos are called night clubs) are opened on Thursday, Friday, Saturday only. What is it possible to make the remaining nights? I will stay in Yaounde 10 days.
Have you some advice, please?
thanks
Hotel booking for a visa?
If you have to get VISA from cameroonian consulate in Your country, they ask a reservation hotel and Independance or Somatel hotel have not an email, therefore I think in Yaounde it is impossible to reserve them except Mercure hotel.
On a few occasions when I phoned the Consultate of Cameroon in my country, I realised it consisted of a man walking in the street with a handset. That man must have pocketed the visa fee there and then (cash in the envelope), stamped the passport and sent it back by return of post because I got it back, complete with coulourful visa, in record time.
I remember writing "Hilton Hotel" once or twice on the form where enquires about a "hotel booking". Who cares where I really planned to ckeck in? Not the man with the handset, that's for sure. Besides, anyone can change their mind about hotels. You were genuinely intending to enjoy the comfort and security of Cameroon's top Hotel when suddenly, Hotel Indépendance beckoned with its creaky bed posts and cum-stained sheets.
If you want to play it really safe, call Indépendance and give them a fax number where they can send you a confirmation. You may then rub the fax in their faces if you find out upon arrival they've "lost" your reservation.
