Anyone have recent info. on Aloha Villa?
Anyone have recent info. on Aloha Villa in Patong, Phuket?.
I am looking for a nice place with air conditioning and amenities, that is close to the beach. Looking for something up to $100.00 dollars a night, preferably with a in-room 3 or 4 person jacuzzi.
In advance, thank you for the help! :)
Has anyone stayed at Rayaburi Hotel or the Karon Princess?
I have come across these hotels while doing research for my upcoming trip to Phuket in February, and I am interested in knowing if anyone has stayed at Rayaburi Hotel, and what there experience was?. It looks like a real nice place. Another hotel I am interested in knowing about is the Karon Princess on Karon beach.
Thanks again Jackson for deleting the b.s that was posted by Dashing Don, and his cohort the banned Prov1, who is posting under various ilks in attempts to get me and others to engage in flame wars with them, taking away the value and purpose of the forum.

Newbie in Phuket – Patong
My buddy and I arrived on New Year’s Eve and stayed 7 nights.
BANGLA ROAD AREA
SOI EASY & SOI GONZO
The first 2 sois coming from the beach. A few pool tables but not much else: very few bar-girls, not crowded at all.
SOI CROCODILE
This is the soi where most of the ladyboys hang out. Popular with non-mongering tourists, attracted by the ladyboys show, but low in number of actual bar-girls. Clean toilets though.
SOI ERIC
One of the 2 most popular ones, and possibly my favourite. A good selecion of bar-girls (their tecnique to lure you is foolproof: they jump on you in groups of 5 or 6 and forcibly sit you down), some of which in costumes (students, cowgirls...), music not too loud.
SOI SEA DRAGON
Limited number of bars, no pole-dancing, but has a few go-go bars, including a Suzie Wong
SOI LION
The shortest of all sois, boasted the ugliest and most insistent girls of all Bangla, but also a couple of stunners.
SOI TIGER
Together with soi Eric the best in Patong, and definitely the most crowded one. Plenty of bars and, to my count, at least a dozen of extremely good-looking girls, plus many more above-average ones. This was also the soi where you had the best chance to meet girls who could speak decent English.
DISCOS
Hollywood and Tiger: I must say that, unlike reported in previous posts, I didn’t find these venues worth going if you want to shop for Thai girls. I visited them at different times, but beside a lot of farangs, I never saw more than 3 or 4 girls available, and never a good-looking one.
TaiPan and Baya Beach: didn’t go there much either, but they seemed to be more relaxed places, and popular among couples
Very close to Bangla road there’s Sukhumvit Entertainment complex, a kind of covered soi with bars and pool tables, very handy during the occasional downpour.
Coming from Bangkok where I visited, with great satisfaction, a couple of renowned massage parlours, I didn’t feel like trying any while in Patong.
COSTS and SERVICE
BAR-GIRLS
1000 for short time
1500 for long time
500 / nothing for bar-fine (the later the cheaper)
These are the standard costs suggested in the this thread, and I must say that even in peak season it wasn’t difficoult to stick to them.
The golden rules I learnt here and used to full advantage are:
- even if it is, never say it’s your first time in Patong
- don’t mention a price when you “ask them out”: if they don’t ask, than it becomes implicit that you’ll pay them the standard fare
- if they do ask you how much you’ll pay them, answer “the standard: 1000 short time 1500 long time”
- never ever ask them how much!
I would rate the range of my experiences from very good to ok, but never unsatisfactory.
One girl cried most of the night because she had had a fight with a friend, but then showed me a good time in the morning.
One girl was a short and, would you believe it!, foul mouthed bowling ball who got four pops out of me in a matter of 6 hours.
With one girl who spoke good English I talked most of the night, and actually had an interesting conversation about the hard reality of her life and her desire to leave Thailand.
And with another yet I spent two nights: she was very good the first time, and even better and extremely GF the second one.
GO GO GIRLS
1500 / 2000 for short time
2000 / 2500 for long time
500 for bar-fine
Definitely more expensive than bar-girls, and I had a harder time getting a reasonable price (they begin asking 2500 for short time). Also, you can’t negotiate on the bar-fine. Sure, a lot them are tall, young, and haven’t had a baby yet, but given the experiences my buddy and I had, I would agree with the general rule that go-go girls are worse providers than bar-girls: less passionate and more troublesome.
THE LADYBOYS ISSUE
1 - Ladyboys were everywhere.
Beside their meeting point in Soi Crocodile, there were some working as bartenders, some working as bar-girls, some working the streets. Not counting those who have regular day jobs in stores and restaurants...
2 - Most of them were easy to spot.
The majority are quite obvious (angular face, broad shoulders, too tall...), and I would have argued impossible to mistake them for girls, if I hadn’t seen too many guys walking hand in hand with a very masculine ladyboy at 3 in the morning to believe they all knew who they were taking to their rooms
3 - A limited number were very difficoult to tell.
Those who have had the sex change operation and hormones treatment are harder to recognize. Even if you have read the “identifying transvestites” thread here in the Thailand forum ; )
On one occasion, far from being drunk, only tipsy really, I got very close myself to take one home: he was gorgeous, well shaped limbs, dressed in a skimpy bikini, feminine voice, feminine body language, we talked for about 20 minutes. He was honest, told me the truth once I tried to bar-fine him... maybe I would have realized later, but I can’t say for sure. Damn!, he was that hot!
HOTEL
My Italian buddy found a little, girlfriendly guest house 2 minutes walk from Bangla road: Le Tanjong ( www.visaforthai.com/le-tanjong-house.html , in Italian though). The manager is friendly and helpful, rooms are basic but clean, have in-room safe and air-con, and being located in a soi off the main road it’s also rather quiet. 1600 baht in peak season.
CIALIS
Upon asking my hotel manager, he pointed to a pharmacy where, he assured me, they would only sell the real stuff. Once there, the pharmacist asked me if I wished to purchase what he called “the original” or “the copy”. He added that the copy wasn’t necessarily a fake, but that he didn’t guarantee the effect. Cost for the original: 2600 baht. Cost for the copy: 1800. Oh well, I went for the original (which does work).
BEACHES
I visited a fair number of the beaches on the east coast of the island.
Kata, Karon, Kamala and Bangtao are nice, but nothing spectacular: very long and crowded by too many non-mongering tourists who, IMHO, spend their time and money on the wrong hotels in the wrong island.
Patong can be fun for side activities and for striking conversation with the odd australian cutie.
I did not visit Surin, which is apparently nice.
Finally, I went to Leamsing, which is very nice, and feels like Thailand for a change.
TRANSPORTATIONS
If you are staying in Patong, I see no reason to risk your life renting a motorbike: taxis and tuk tuks have standardized, published fares for most destinations on the island. Nearly all beaches can be reached with 200 to 500 baht
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
I really enjoyed my time in Patong, and definitely recommend it. The quality of girls and the variety of venues and services offered in Bangkok is certainly higher, but the fun factor of all those bar-girls can’t be discounted, and assuming you go to Phuket not just for mongering but also for a vacation, than that place strikes a great balance.
