Final notes on 66 day journey
A long and interesting trip comes to an end today as I soon leave for the airport. 6 weeks total in MDE than trips in between to Cali, BAQ and San Andres.
I Have met some good fellow mongers on this trip and enough can not be said of the value of a good Wingman.
I hooked up with some non pros in those citys and it just reinforces my feelings
That for me the Pros are my best bet. Mostly I have been going from Girl to girl in each city looking for that perfect GFE. I now have one in BAQ and two in MDE. I spent my last day yesterday between the two in MDE and as I was walking to the store in Mayorista this morning I saw a women that might be fun, but my sore nuts said enough is enough.
One thing for sure I will never stay over 60 days in Colombia again. Those three trip to D. A. S. Is another report that I should write at another time.
Shipping from U.S. to Pereira
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm in Atlanta, I wanted to ship two boxes to Pereira. I had the boxes my things arrived in put in another, triple wall box with two inches of foam padding on all sides between the boxes. Avianca Express has a website with it's American offices and affiliates listed. There was one 5 miles from my parent's house. They charged $1.80 per pound, delivered to my door in Pereira, and 29% customs fees on declared value. A great value, I thought, except that my packages were oversized. For the two boxes combined I paid an additional $230 for oversize. The limits are 150cm length + width + depth, and 110 pounds. I still came out ahead of what it would have cost to check them on Delta, and Delta only accepts boxes checked as stand-by. If I had known the limits ahead of time, it would have been economical. I had 75 pounds and $360 of value. If it had been within size limits, it would have cost $270, about half of what it would have cost as excess luggage on Delta.
I feel secure in using the service because the contents are large objects of no immediate resale value. One box is a bust (statue), an onyx bowl and plate. The other box is 4 candle sticks and two statues. I was considering shipping a third footlocker as well, but if it contains small items, they might be more attractive to pilfering. And you can't put food or vitamins in unaccompianied baggage.
I tried to contact ServiEntrega, but basically was reminded why the Third World is the Turd Wurld.
I'll report on my receipt of what I shipped.

El Minetero
Minetero:
Good to hear you got your stuff there. I know what a hassle and sometimes stressful that can B.
For the record and as info to the board; I shipped parcels several times with two small time operators that can do it for a fraction of the price that Avianca, Fedex, UPS, US Postal Service or any other big name carrier can do it.
One is Medrano Express www.medranoexpress.com and the other, I can't recall the name right now.
They both delivered to the door in Colombia, took about 6-7 days, and had drop off points at Tienda Latinas in my area. You drop your parcel off at your local tienda that contracts with one of these services and they have pick-ups 2 or 3 days a week. They consolidate the parcels at their central facility and put them on a plane in Miami.
Cost $50 or less per normal sized parcel and deliver to the door in Colombia and other countries in LA. Always came through, never had a problem, and they offer insurance if you want it.
Check around at your local Tienda Latinas. BTW, these are good places to buy calling cards too and even run into a hot latina now and then.
All the best, Schwmm

Not sure how that text at the top of my last post, above Minetero's quote, got in there. It wasn't me.
