B.player, leo
I won't be arriving until the evening of July 2nd with a buddy from Miami. Probably around 9:00 pm. I'll try to come up with some contact info in the mean time. I'll probably see about getting a cell phone when down there. I think they will pretty much lend you the phone and you just purchase the minutes. I think we should be able to come up with enough girls to have a pretty good pool party. I already contacted my cab driver friend to hit up a lot of the girls who will be at the hotel the week before for the TLC event. That event does seem to coincide with both of your schedules. See you in a couple weeks.

Hello guys. I'm relatively new to this part of the WSG but I'm a member of a few other sites.
I'm going to be making my first trip to Cali and am psyched! I'm reviving my Spanish in anticipation of my arrival Dec. 1.
I've appreciated the reports by slick1, antifreeze, et al.
Antifireeze, if you have a chance, I'd love to hook up when I'm in town.
I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions, but for right now am content to keep digging up information.
Take care! ¡No puedo esperar para conseguir allí!!

Just got back from a quck trip to Cali and it was as good as ever.
I have a girlfriend in Medellin so I think of Cali as a playground.
Went to a new casa at Ave 2N Calle 25N #105.
Great place! The boss (la heffa) Adriana, was really cool, loved having a gringo there, the prices were unbelievable - $35,000 pesos for an hour - about $12 or 13 dollars, and a great selection of about 15 chicas.
After staying away for over a year, went to Flores frescas. Nice show, hot chicas but the prices ... mucha plata (expensive for service), especially for what's out there in the numerous casas around town.
Also went to Kaliente (from Kaliente.com).
Also some hot chicas but the less expensive casas are just as nice for about half the price.
Anyway, Cali is still heaven for chicas. Non-pros and pros alike are hot and most , really friendly.
Treat these girls nicely and tell them they're beautifull, and you'll be treated like el Rey (the King)

for B. Player,
You can buy a telephone for pre-paid service. Either Comcel or Bell South.
Both have stores in Chipi Chapi mall.
Usually there are specials they are running, compare both places.
I got a Bell South phone about a year ago on special. Cost about $50 or around there. Pre-paid calls cost about 1000 pesos a minute (33 cents/min), half this rate at night I believe too.
You can buy these pre-paid phone cards just about in any store and these phones work all thru Colombia in any city with no long distance charges thru-out Colombia.
Hope this helps out.

B.Player - If you're looking for longer stays, I'd recommend using frequent flyer miles to do so. No extra miles incurred, and you can change the return for $50 in most cases.
The only downside is the dates available. Sometimes you have to check around a bit, and custom tailor your trip.
I know that on Continental or NWA, it takes 35k miles for Central or South America.
The other option, if you don't have the miles yourself, is to find a travel agent consolidator that has longer length tickets cheap, or one way tickets cheap. I've used www.adventure-bound.com before for one way tickets to Costa Rica that were about 65-75% of a round trip (short time) ticket.

Hi guys,
Well, first the bad news. For those of you that are coming down next week (leo and B. Player), things are going to be pretty slow down here. Yes, it is a puente again (3 day weekend), and calenas love to get the hell out of the city when that happens. So, try to lower your expectations since Cali is a pretty boring place to be when it is a puente.
I'd love to meet you guys when you'll be down here. I am more of a weekday guy though (during nights and weekends, I take care of my wife and kid). But, during weekdays, this is the time that I run around and spead my genes.
I'll see if we can work out something for us to meet. I have a lot of work, but my deadline is for June 30th so that should leave us some time.
If you can change your dates to come a week later, that would be better for you since, like I said a puente weekend is just plain boring in Cali.

Antifreeze...
Is there some sort of calendar I can check to make sure my dates do not fall on a puente?
-
Ricker, Jaimito Cartero, guys:
Thanks for all the info.
Slick: You still have to let myself or Leo know how to get ahold of you while your in Cali. E-mail me or leave a post.
Good luck and see you in Cali!
-
Poobah,
I was indeed looking for that but was not successful at spotting one. If anyone else has that information, please post those dates here because Cali is really borring during puentes.
-
well, not sure i want to push back the begining of my trip to cali to avoid the puente... but sure can extend the return home to get some more dates not on a puente!
-
Normally puentes are on a Monday, the bridge of the weekend, but they can fall on religious holidays and there are also local holidays.
Here are the puentes as far as I know them for then next three months:
June 30
July 20 (but this is a Sunday, and may or may not be moved to Monday)
August 7 (a Thursday and never moved but is the start of a long weekend)
August 18

Slick1-
I think the weekend of the puente is this coming weekend, with Jun/30 being the holiday day - so your arrival won't be impacted... it should be normal Cali life for those dates.
I'll be arriving Friday, meeting up / staying with with B.player. Post here or email me directly sobeleo/at/yahoo/dot/com if you like that better, and we'll leave a message at the desk for you to receive upon arrival so you may find us that evening, Jul/2.

Sounds good. I'll drop you an email next week. Enjoy Cali. Stop by the Intercontinental and I don't think the puente will ruin your time. If the TLC ads are true you should have access to about 800 girls in the hotel lobby or by the pool. Give us a quick report on that scene.
