Hello, Spain experts,
I have for years considered investing in a small apartment in spain. I see that prices are still falling ... [Is there] [s]omeone who has good experience with a Spanish real estate agent who can help me with a good deal?
According to a web site I saw, Spain will tax your income if you buy a home in Spain, even if you are not a citizen of Spain. I got an evasive reply when I e-mailed a real estate agent in Spain to ask if this is true. I don't recall if what I read said your income from anywhere in the world or only what you earn in Spain would be subject to Spain's income tax. If you get a reliable answer, please report it here.
I passed by Club Riviera today, and it is closed. The building looks abandoned, and the old ornaments are left witbout care.
A sad sad thing to see such a once-glorious place go to waste because of corrupt cops / politiciens / feminist judges.
According to this article, dated 10-03-2012,"Despierta Libertad: Riviera [and] Saratoga, los prostibulos a juicio" (the below link may not work but you can Google it) , by Rafael del Barco Carreras,
http://despiertalibertad.********.com/2012/03/riviera-y-saratoga-los-prostibulos.html
"La Juez cierra definitivamente los burdeles", which in English is "Judge closes the brothels definitively", referring to both Riviera Club and Saratoga Club. If anybody's seen them recently, please report on current status.
Riviera Club was a wonderful place, a large night club where you could mingle and talk and all the girls were friendly, with private rooms upstairs if you both want to, shall we say, get better acquainted, and with reasonable cost, especially compared to downtown Barcelona. It was a vastly better setup than picking a girl out of a lineup or choosing one after a series of women, one by one, enter a room where you wait and you tell someone in charge the name of the girl you want, giving you little opportunity to know how she feels about you. At Riviera Club you and the girls had an opportunity to talk and get to know each other before deciding if you both want to spend private time together, similar to Privee Club in Tarragona and the clubs in La Jonquera.
Also, another article says Riviera Club's owner was jailed, probably for immigration violations or alleged sexual slavery or trafficking in women. Having talked with many of the girls who worked at Riviera Club and Saratoga Club and other similar clubs in Spain, particularly their stories about going home to see family, and what they told me they told their families to conceal what they were really doing for a living, and telling me they were prostitutes because "me gusta" (I like it) , I believe the kidnapping, sexual slavery, and trafficking allegations are fabrications by those who oppose prostitution.
Great advertisement for your agency except one thing. Google translation not very well.
On that one, and it is not often, I agree with you!

It was a haorrible place, a fucking factory, with many young girls. Some very beautiful. Charging low hourly rates.
Yes, that is gone now in Barcelona. Nothing has replaced it. If you still want 100euro per hour in a club you can go to the Urgell 150 Club (www.urgell150.com/). Some girls are quite good looking (I was with Laura twice. A crazy girl and better looking than the pictures on the website).
The best option now in BCN is night beach. Clearly the most beautiful girls, but the going rate is 300e / hr. (some girls will tell you it is 350!).
An old favorite of mine is New Aribau, who were charging 220 but also tried 240 recently. They did a good job attracting new girls recently. I last was there two weeks ago, luckily the very lovely Sofia was still there "waiting" for me and we really made out. You are not interested in the details I guess.
Other places worth mentioning are Kiss Me bar (if you are a bit voyeuristic) and Breston (all girl next door types).
Barcelona never disappoints.
Good luck
Are there any nice clubs in Barcelona (As Scandalo in Malaga) with good atmosphere, beautiful chicas for reasonable price, where you can have a beer or two?
Malaga is great and Barcelona will not disappoint you.
Try:
- New Aribau http://clubnewaribau.com/ (currently their site is down. But club alive and very kicking 2 wks ago)
- Night Beach http://nightbeach.es/ (price 300 / hr. Many and very beautiful girls. Currently the top club in BCN)
- Bacarra (yes, one "see" and two "are"s!) http://www.bacarrabcn.com (price 350 / hr)
Smaller clubs, but still meeting your requirements:
Club Diamonds (also in Av Aribau)
Club Breston www.clubbreston.es
S'candalo in Malaga is a bit outside of the city (which drives down prices) and usually has a lot of very nice girls (was there early Dec). So, to be fair, nothing beats S'candalo in terms of beauty for a reasonable price. In Barcelona (centre) you will need to pay 70e per hour extra for the same quality of girls.
Urgell150. Es is a bit hit and miss but when hit is the exception to he rule.

However, BCN is a haven for sexual slavery and trafficking. They send out recruiters to other countries with promises of riches for the girls. The truth is they force them to service the "membership" and make them work off their passage, clothes, housing and food and of course drugs. I know girls who started out in clubs and brothels and now are on the street. They have been there for years and will never see home. One girl I was with at Saratoga ordered cocaine from room service like she was ordering a drink.
Yeah, BCN. What a great place.

Yeah, BCN. What a great place.
The BCN bashing guy is at it again, fighting a losing battle. Trying to make us believe that only in BCN girls are trafficked. But not in his beloved Brazil or anywhere else.
Keep it on, man, noone cares anyway about whay you say. If I judge by all the other posters on this thread.
And BTW, when did you last visit BCN?

And BTW, when did you last visit BCN?
I have been to BCN a number of times and know the city quite well. It is a beautiful city with much to offer the tourist. Unfortunately, it is controlled by organized crime which like any business needs to aquire resources (drugs and women) and market. Most of the Spanish forums are the sellers of these services writing posts promoting their offerings.
The girls are under a great deal of pressure and constantly watched and monitored. They are not going to tell the truth to causal strangers who do not speak their native language. I have stated in the past, I have no knowledge of the Chinese places and have never even been in one. Almost all other venues mentioned here I have been in at least once.
I RTFF'd as part of researching for my trip to BCN. Thanks for all the posts, have to say the first few really made me think twice.
Any as a warning, beware of the miltitude of SW's that are hanging down the middle of Carrer Sant Pau. It's just off La Rambla. As I was walking through there, the SW's were African or Eastern European and hideous. There was a section of the street cordoned off by the police and upon enquiring I found out that a guy had done a deal with one of the SW's who took him to her little room in the street and during the provision of services he was also robbed. He had called the police so it was a big issue. Apparently he said they can keep the money but just return his wallet and passport.
I talked to a few people who have shops there of my own ethnic community and they wanred me to keep my pockets well and truly secure.
Be careful guys,

Be careful guys,
You bring up an excellent point and one that should be taken to heart by those not familiar with BCN. I have been in that area late at night and there are some streets off of La Rambla which are dark and deserted except for people who don't have your best interest at heart. It is easy to think you are taking a short-cut and end up on one of these dangerous side streets. If you are alone, only stay on the main streets and do what saved me. Fall in with a group of people. BTW, this also is how I met a nice group of girls who were visiting from Australia.
I think Dreams and I privately have agreed to disagree.
I stand by my statements about BCN and will leave it at that.
Riviera has been closed for many years, why even talk about it?
If I remember correctly, Riviera Club was closed by prosecutors, police, and a Spanish court some time in March 2009, 3 years 10 months ago. Sympalogy's report on 09-05-12, which is 4 months ago, gives me the impression Riviera Club still sits vacant with the neon "Riviera Club" sign on the roof, same as the last time I saw it. Until another business (perhaps a regular hotel with a bar or restaurant) opens in Riviera Club's former location, I think there's hope Riviera Club will re-open. The report I cited says a judge ordered the Club closed "definitively", which might mean definitely rather than permanently.
I really got a hard one reading your post. Thanks and keep them coming, this forum will be a joy to read if only more people would voice there [sic, their] unfounded fears!
The writer refers to my reply to another writer in this forum who asked for help deciding where to buy an apartment in Spain. I warned I'd seen a web site saying buying real estate in Spain would result in Spain taxing his income even if he lives in another country, not Spain. Is this an "unfounded fear"? See immediately below and decide for yourself.
"You pay this version of income tax in Spain if the following conditions apply: 1) You do not reside in Spain. 2) You own property in Spain. 3) The property is exclusively for personal use and you do not rent it out. 4) You have no other source of taxable income in Spain. Although you do not earn an income from the property, in the eyes of the Spanish tax authorities you still derive a benefit from owning a property in Spain and therefore have to pay an imputed income tax."

One girl I was with at Saratoga ordered cocaine from room service like she was ordering a drink. Yeah, BCN. What a great place.
When I asked girls at Riviera Club and other clubs how she came to work there, they typically said another girl from home (typically Romania) told her about it, and that she decided to check it out. A few times girls told me they were there because it was the best way to support her child."I do it for my child"* said one. As for never seeing home again, girls at Riviera Club and Saratoga Club not infrequently told me they had gone home, usually to Romania, to see those children they were supporting, or other family, since the last time I'd seen her. A Romanian girl of about 28 who I'd seen at Riviera Club when she was small breasted and again later after she had breast implants told me she'd gotten the breast augmentation surgery in her home country, Romania. A girl at Estark 95 in Algeciras told me there she earned more in one night* Than she did in two months* In her job in Romania. I can't say deception or kidnapping Exec Talent alleges never happens, but I've made a point of asking the girls themselves questions to verify or disprove these allegations, and I have not yet uncovered reason to think girls in Barcelona's clubs have been coerced or forced by anything other than need to find the best job possible. In many cases, Spanish authorities who close the clubs down are depriving single mothers of their best employment opportunity.
