Wondering if anyone has been to the casino's. Looking for some daytime things to do other than tourist activities and not really into the beach.
Spent alot of time in the DR and I know there the casino's are really bad.
Are there legitatimate places for blackjack and slots to kill some time.
Just a quick simple response will do and we can move on
Thanks in advanced
Hey I am curious to know, is anyone here in the trade business? I am interested in importing off priced goods (closeouts) into Cartagena but not sure if there is any money to be made over there. Does anyone know anything about the importing policies over there and if there are potential wholesale buyers in Cartagena?
Thanks for any info you may have.
Hi Zev,
Sorry for my bad english, i have a friend who sells products from Spain to the colombian malls, like Carrefour, la 14, Olimpica... he always say that in Cartagena there a lot of poor people, and this people is out of the market (aprox. the 70% of citizens are very poor and don't have money for buy), better start in Bogota, Medellin or Barranquilla. In this cities you have more people with money than in Cartagenal. My friend always say that Cartagena is great place for invest in touristic activities (hotel, restaurant, disco, etc.), but for other bussines better start in other places.
I tried to send you a PM, but seems that your PM is disabled, i have a question for you.
I stayed in Cartagena last june, i know a crazy girl from Elektra called Valeria, he fucks incredible. I will return to Cartagena in october but i lost her cell number. And now i don't know if he is still working in Elektra or maybe he returned to her city in Barranquilla. I will try to learn to put photos and post one photo, maybe you can recognize this girl.
Thanks for the info Guilem. The name Valeria doesnt ring a bell but post a picture and Ill let you know if I recognize her.

The casinos suck, as they do everywhere. But, if you want to play blackjack there are two casinos worth playing in in CTG, and the La perla is right next to La dolce Vida. The only real problem with playing blackjack in the carribean and south america is the local players don't know how to play and get snippy with you when you hit on 16. Other than that, I have wasted enough time in these places to tell you they are a fair to average diversion if you get bored or run out of sperm.

Colombia already bootlegs just about everything they can afford to buy and they sell shit for pennies on the dollar in the street. Cartagena is one poor place dude.
Texas Hold-em is being played at the casinos now. You can do tournaments (nightly?) or play cash games against sometimes not so good players. I won 700 dollars one night at La Perla, had other nights where I broke even or lost a little. Good diversion if you're bored...
Good to see ya back Westy!
Hi,
I am about to make a reservation with one of the apartments that Juan Ventura rents. He is asking that a deposit be sent to him beforehand. Is this safe? Will the room be guaranteed?
No problem with Juan Ventura he is a first class guy...

He has handled my rental money for 4 years and stood next to me twice as I had emergency laser surgery on my eye. I trust him with my life.

Since the last time I was in Cartagena a year and a half ago, I have only heard good things about Juan V.
Thanks everyone for your comments about Juan. I made the reservation.
Juan Ventura is trustworthy. My own experience and countless positive referrals back this up.

Try small, take $1000 worth of stuff and go around and make contacts. Sell at or below cost. Sell for whatever you can sell for, as long as you make contacts. What is the worst case scenario? You spent $1000 and sold it for $300? So you lost $700 but imagine the week you spent. You made 25 contacts, you gained invaluable experience. You learned much about export and customs and marketing in foreign lands. You know what to watch out for next time, etc.... and you really would have needed to screw up to buy for $1000 and sell for $300. Imagine you met a girl and told her what you were doing. Instead of saying "come I'll give you $60", you are trying to expand your business to Cartagena.
Win win win. There is no possible negative outcome.
Actually I'm not going to flat out say this is not good advice, but I'd advise you to do your homework first.
Trying to "legally" get your money out of Colombia is a lot more difficult than you may think. Don't just assume you can wire transfer or Western Union money out.
