[QUOTE=Houziwang]That is so crummy. I know it is difficult to think lucidly in the moment, but I think all of us should just keep our mouths shut in this instance. Simply say the officer is mistaken, that you hadn't spoken to the girl. What are the police going to do? Hold you overnight? Try embarrass you publicly? You can continue claiming the police are corrupt and were trying to shake you down as a pedestrian passing through the area. You could simply say you asked her for directions and she offered to go get a map. (Hahaha!)

I agree with this and also with Roni44 though it's easy to say so sitting here calmly away from the action. The worst that could happen would be for your family to find out though you probably don't need to worry about that happening. Legally, as I understand it, nothing can happen to you.
It's probably likely that they were watching her instead of you and who knows what her or her pimp did/didn't do to deserve it. I would imagine that this has nothing to do with you and, though I really appreciate the report because I was thinking of going over this afternoon, they likely aren't watching johns.
Their story about not being able to stop them because there are too many is bullshit because the action is congregated into a two-block area. A two-person foot patrol that actually does something could do enough to discourage a good percentage of the action, pushing it some other place where they aren't able to watch from another building.
