More tips than a barternders cognac glass....
ek,
keep this one in the back of your mind. down on novy arbat (near arbatskaya metro) is a bar / restaurant called zhiguli (like the car) . it's known for being a brezhnev era bar. very plain with concrete floors and wooden benches - proletarian is the look they were going for i think.
if you come in the door, the bar is to the right and the restaurant is to the left. they normally have a live band during the week after 9:00 pm that play a wide variety of dance music. early in the week, (tues, wed) it seems to be a popular place for office colleagues to go for a happy hour after work. eat some food, drink some beer (and maybe a little vodka) and do some dancing.
i was there in june on a tuesday night with a date and saw a table with about 12 beautiful girls and only 3 rather dopey looking guys. by 10 pm, the girls were trashed and hitting on all of the guys in the restaurant to come and dance with them. when my date went to use the ladies room, one of the girls literally dragged my up onto the dance floor during a slow dance and proceeded to grind her crotch into my leg. of course, when my date came back, i just about had to break up a cat fight, but i digress.
this may have been an isolated incident but in talking with expat friends who live in moscow, they often make a swing past zhiguli just to see what's available. hey - it's worth a peek. i don't think an elitny muscovite girl would be caught dead in the place, but who fucking cares? it seems to be a popular spot with the office girls so i think it's one to keep handy.
good luck,

thanks!
i second someone else's vote for a cute "normal" girl always trumps an elitny muscovite.
Everybody gets to chime in.......

And the idea that you can compare Rio with Moscow simply because they are "cities of similar sizes and income levels" is, I'm sorry to say, simply naive.)
Not to beat a dead horse, but having been in both Rio and Moscow within a two week period, I can categorically confirm that comparing girls from those cities is like comparing potatoes and acerola. I am sure there are things in this world that are more different, but I can't imagine what they might be. Sure they have the same physical attributes, but while the Brasileiras are predictable in their own chaotic sort of way, I have found the moods, emotions (or lack thereof), and decision process of Russian women to be as unpredictable and non-linear as the Moscow weather. Come to think of it, my Ukrainian Babusha was equally as erratic.
