SIM CARD in Taiwan
Since it will be very difficult to monger without a phone, what is the easiest way to purchase a SIM card if I am visiting Taipei for only a few days? I know I can't just walk into a 7-11 to purchase a sim card if I do not have the local ID but I remembered reading somewhere that I can purchase one with my passport at the airport. Can anyone shed some light on that?
Thanks,
PD
James,
As I read in the Taipei Times, over the last 6 or 8 months the Ministry of Interior is decriminalizing prostitution. .
The question is: did Ministry do it? I remember it was information that new law regulation will be ready in 6 months.

Forumosa is an old forum for expats and 20-something English teacher guys from Canada.
BTW Google maps works pretty well here. IMHO an Android phone is fast becoming an essential mongering tool.

"Constitutional Interpretation No. 666 by the Council of Grand Justices has declared unconstitutional the first clause of Article 80 of the Social Order Maintenance Act 社會秩序維護法, under which sex workers, but not their customers, are fined. The council also declared that the clause would be voided in two years’ time." Allah be praised!

Not easy to get a SIM card (temporarily) in Taiwan.
Yes, you can get one in the airport (Far Eastern, etc). 300NT or so ($12 US).
You would need (1) Passport, (2) another pictured ID (driver's license, etc.) and (3) a credit card. Kinda a hassle when you're in the airport. But it's there and opens till 9 pm.
You can get one when in TPE. But you'd most likely have to go to one of those larger branches. You'd need 2 different pictured IDs from your country (passport, driver's license, Credit card with your pic, etc). Before, you'd also need a resident's co-signature, but I don't think you'd need that now.
I've heard another way to bypass showing your ID is to buy a cell phone along with a temporary number. But of course, that's if you need a cell phone in the first place. Cheapest ones run around 1500 nt ($50 bucks US? ). And the temporary SIM number would be $300 NT up.

When I came to taiwan this time,I went to xinmending at those stands that show so many cell phones in glass cabinents. Yes, you need your passport to get the SIM card with number. Any second i.d. works. No co-signature necessary nowadays. I also got a motorola phone for 1000NT. It was used but works fine (of course no fancy features like GPS, etc.). I can recharge my card at any family mart. Just a note to those from usa, the charges are for outgoing calls only. You don't pay to recieve calls. For the medium to short term mongerer or for those that need a second phone that the significant other shouldn't know about, i would suggest this route.
Very much value your insights into the mechanics of the outcall industry. A few pages into this thread though, another poster suggested, they ask for 5000, you tell them the going rate is 3000, then you tell them you'll got 3500 or 4000 if they send some quality. So, maybe 6000 is too much… don't inflate prices for the rest of us.
Yes, I would be surprised if offering $6,000 would result in anything other than paying 2 for the price of 1.
As far as hotels go, I thought that most if not nearly all hotels offer "rest", 2-3 hours for $800 - $1200 (cheaper in Taipei County). Maybe some do more of their business this way, they call them 'love hotels'. So they are set up for sex, then they just don't ask if its commercial or not.
Other than the large, generally foreign chains, I challenge anybody to find a hotel that doesn't offer 'rest rates'.

Service
Taipei Times for January 2 has 3 small display ads under "Service". From Missy, Emily, and Jessica & Wendy. (They probably all call the same Auntie). Usually there are about a dozen ads, but anyway some ads are back. For some reason all 3 list an address; 2 of those addresses are on Hsin Yi Rd sec 4. I'm not sure why the ads went AWOL, maybe they figure there are no travelling businessmen during xmas week.
So, all but big international chain hotels offer 'day rates' or 2-3 hour rest rates. Even if they don't market themselves as a Love Hotel. And as far as I can tell they don't require ID for a rest. And they mind their own business when you have a visitor. Anyway, are there some 'rest hotels' that you recommend, maybe near the MRT, etc?
Also, I noticed that Yuki and other outcalls are no longer advertising on the classified section of Taipei Times and other papers. There are onjly incall numbers now. I found that strange. Does anyone have Yuki's number? I lost it.
OK I realize, those 3 small display ads, maybe they are incall, since they list an address. Let's see what happens next week. Or maybe one of us could call and try to place an ad and see what they say... What's up with this extortion thing, do you think they shut down the ads because of that? I think if you pick the hotel and room that should make it a bit safer.
I think in this forum, we're not allowed to post email addresses, but maybe phone numbers are ok. But maybe people are shy about posting a permanent record of phone number. James it might be necessary for you to get a $20/yr paid account on this forum which can receive Private Messages. I think anyone can SEND a PM, but only paid members can RECEIVE them. James' first 2 posts IMHO have him my vote for rookie of the year, so can anyone help him out with Yuki's phone number?

Yuki's Numbers
I did a Google search for "Yuki's Escorts in Taiwan" and came up with the following two Taipei numbers. 2786 3457 and 2649 3837
I am not in Taipei now, so I can't verify if they are active.
Can someone please try them out and report back?

So, maybe 6000 is too much… don't inflate prices for the rest of us. Another optimization would be to cut out the middleman and work directly with the girl. She might have friends too who are in the business or got her into it to begin with.
As far as hotels go, I thought that most if not nearly all hotels offer "rest", 2-3 hours for $800 - $1200 (cheaper in Taipei County). Maybe some do more of their business this way, they call them 'love hotels'. I have had some girls offer their number to me after one or two sessions and one of them has become my regular "paybee" fuck buddy. Good arrangement, she calls me whenever she is randy, we meet for a set price and we fuck like horny high school kids. She has even offered to introduce some of her friends to me though they have never worked out.
Many of the urban hotels in Taipei, particularly Linsen area have "short rest". The one I use offers 680 for 2 hours, in the morning its 3 hours and after 10 its 1000 for 2 hours. Not a bad deal and very nice and clean.
Happy to see some activity on the forum after a long quiet period.
Hi guys, I'm in Taipei now and renewing my research here. Its been a few months since the last time I was here.
High end KTV. The girls are hot, and you do get to choose, but its not cost effective. Expect to spend $700US if you want to take them home. What's worse, you can cycle through many girls and not find one you like if you are really picky, and you can end up spending $350US for the nite, and NOT take anyone back.

Yes, $700 is steep but it's a fair price in my opinion to have special fun with a 9+ face looking girl (keep rejecting, it will come)
-
Agreed
Abcboy,
I completely agree, I am willing to pay for quality too. And, at KTV you so get to choose sp I have had a couple 9's there too. Its just too expensive for me to go KTV often, and there is a large sunk cost, even if you don't find one you like. Plus, it feels funny to go by myself, sometimes I don't feel like playing drinking games and getting trashed before I get the girl.
I'm looking for a better way, but I think I might have found one. Will keep you guys posted. We're resourceful enough that we can find it together.
Anyone need a wingwang for regular clubbing? (Roxy, primo, 18, spark)

Rest rates
I checked at 4 hotels. You guys are right, everyone offers a rest rate. Plus, no ID needed! (what happens if you trash the room?)
I had 4 more outcalls. There is no real correlation between looks and price, after you pass $4000. The reason is because while WE think its cheap at $6k, they don't have enough local customers to keep the girls busy. I tried 3 outcalls. After I offered to pay $6k, one told me that if I paid $8k, she would get me a model worth $10k. She sent me a 29 year old with only 6 looks, and fishy smelling. Another outcall sent me a 20 year old model for $6k. Granted I had to send the girl before her back, but the price didn't go up.
Allegedly, some magazine models do this very part-time for upwards of $10k. I'm going to see if I can get pictures before they send those. Maybe worth the extra money.

Membership
OK, I will get a membership ASAP.
Incalls do exist!
I walked into a porn store today. (The kind that sells 50 copied old porn dvd's for 1000 NT) Doesn't everyone get their porn online these days? When I was the only person left, the owner (30 year old taiwanese guy) asked me if I wanted to buy some 'illegal' dvd's that are uncensored. Apparently, you can't show penetration in much of Asia. I joked with him that all porn is uncensored where I come from, and I would much rather find sex.
He explained to me that I could go to KTV which is pricey. Call outcalls, which he says the china girl price is 3k, and more expensive for taiwanese girls. Or incall, which he says is exclusive and you need to be led in by someone in the know. He gave me some outcall numbers and his number and offered to show me the incall places, which are supposedly all taiwanese girls.
I'm pretty sure this means he makes a cut for bringing me in, but the pricing structure he explained means that I have been overpaying for hobbying here so far.
I'll let you guys know when i finally find an incall.
