By all means, oh wise one, do regale us with examples of what you consider a report that isn't rubbish. We're all waiting at your feet.
But you know what Chino? Out of your 20 posts, more than half are bitching about someone else's posts or otherwise joining in some disputes. Some others are questions or "I'm going to be here" kinds of posts. About the only real information you posted was part of one where you were complaining about people's choice of hotels. So I'm not sure I can wait for your great wisdom with such confidence. You say you've made multiple trips to Ethiopia, so let's have it.
You did post a few OK pics the last few days. So maybe this is a small scrap of hope for the future.
How can I complain on peoples choice of their hotels? Let them stay wherever they want to stay, I just said "do not waste your money".
Well, more pictures from MY hotel.
Beautiful pics - and girls, Chino83. Did you stay at the Meridian Hotel? I like this place, even that it could be a bit cheaper in relation to the quality !
There are a couple of hotels that are playing tricky name games. There's the Meridian that Labadi mentioned, not to be confused with the famous 5-star chain Meridien. And by the airport there's a Mariot, which even goes so far as to ape the sign of the more well-known Marriott. So if you try to book these places in advance be aware of what you're getting.
Chino, thanks for your PM and thanks for more photos. Like you said we agree on a lot of things. It's normal for people to disagree on things here. But people will listen to your opinions more if you yourself are contributing information. If the majority of posts are complaints about others then people get irritated and tend not to listen to what you say. Anyway, it sounds like you've got lots of good experiences to report. Let's hear them.
About people staying in places like the Hilton and 'wasting their money' it's like this:
1. Some people are there for business and the room is paid for by the boss.
2. Others, like myself in the last 3 trips, are only there for about 3 days or so. For such a short trip it's not a high total cost to stay in a more expensive hotel. When I was in Ethiopia for 10 days or so I was staying in midrange places like Yordanos, Ibex, etc.
3. A place like the Hilton, besides being a nice place, has several advantages. There are money changers right there, people to buy mobile phone SIM cards from, a good gym, good pool, etc. If you're in cheaper places you have to go out to find this stuff, ride taxis, waste time. Especially for a short 3 day visit you don't want to waste time and you want to get to meeting the girls as soon as possible.
4. Often girls respond better when they're in a nice place. I find it helps to get a better experience.
5. Finally, lots of people here have money to waste and don't mind spending it.
So people will stay where they're going to stay for their own reasons. Let's just present as many alternatives as possible in various price ranges. That will help people more than preaching about how to use money. And by the way, in your last photo why can't you come out and say what hotel it is rather than just saying 'MY hotel?'
No, its not the Meridian i stayed in, but by the way, opposite the Meridian, the "Gelatopia" icecreamparlor is a great place to meet young and beautiful girls, especially Saturday- and Sundayafternoons. Well, it takes time, you may not get them the first day, but the following and seldom for the night, but they visit you during the day in your hotel, since they have to be at home very often already 7 or 8 o´clock. Mahku, its ok, but did you really like the Yordanos? I can recommend the Axum-Hotel, but i am not staying there myself. Came home from Addis and Ghana 2 weeks ago, already planning my next trip.
Chino,
You just gave the thread more life with those lively pics (no matter how your paint over their faces removd the essential beauty of ethiopian girls, their shiny eyes) Anyway, you did a really good job. But I wonder if you did some threesome with those girls or did even one girl in the presence of the other. I suppose this is not very usual with ethiopian gals.
One love!

One love![/QUOTE]Its not so difficult as people tell you here on the forum, it really is possible and I was lucky enough to experience it several times. The digital I bought is one year old, unfortunately I do not have a scanner, otherwise I could show you about it. I will never show faces, all those girls deserve respect, thats my opinion. Addis is paradise I tell you and it doesn't mean I do not like Kenya or Ghana or other African countries, on the contrary. Before I used to go to Zimbabwe and Namibia, but no longer. Take care.
Hi friends,
Next month I stay from Monday evening until Wednesday morning in Addis. I want to go out on Monday und Tuesday. What ist the best place to go to meet some girls?
Thanks a lot

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. Good useful information that a monger can use. I've never been to or heard of this ice cream parlor and I'd love to check it out next time I'm here, whenever that will be.
No, I didn't much like the Yordanos. Stuff was not working, falling off, falling down...just didn't like the place much. This was my first visit in December, 2002 so I can't say what it's like now. From there I moved to the Ibex, which I CAN recommend (but also more than 3 years out of date). I remember seeing the Axum as I was walking to My Pub. It looked pretty good and new.
Check out the usual Memo's night club and Dome at the concord hotel. My pub used to be good but on the last visit not a great selection there. Unfortunately Both Milk houses have closed down, a shame as they often had a decent selection of girls to be picked up early hours of the evening. One would usually then find them in either Memos or Concord. However, go to this clubs after midnight.
Has anyone been to this place called "Cave"? I heard that it is a kind of private dance club which is located on the way to the airport. It sounds like something new. But I knew that there were some strip clubs that were raided and shut down by the authorities a couple of years ago.
Today I had a long chat with a girl who works in a cyber cafe.
She makes 150 Birr a month ... that's about 15 Euro - under 20 US!
A secretary makes maybe 500 Birr - 50 Euro - less than 65 US
.. so when we go mongering - we are probably paying around a months average salary.
Now put that into western standards !
I was considering a visit to Addis inthe near future and was wondering if it was possible to hook up with lilaliyah if you still have contact. Will gladly report from the front with regular field reports to keep the troops updated and ready for action.
