Importing (Temporary) a Motorcycle
Good morning and Hello, to all. I am looking for some help with bringing my Motorcycle to SE Asia. Perhaps some one there has some experience in these affairs. I started out in USA and rode my bike to South America. I am now in Colombia. I found a broker that can ship my bike to Thailand from here for around $1, 200.00 I am assuming that there will be around $300 more on the other end, for a total of $1, 500.00
I was thinking of scooting around Thailand, Laos and Cambodia for 3 to 6 weeks and then bring it over to the Philippines for a while longer. After that, I do not really know. It just depends on how I feel.
Here are my questions:
How much time does the Phil Govt. Allow for temporary importation?
How much does a Suzuki DL 1000 Vstrom cost in the Philippines?
Has any one had some experience doing this?
Any help is most gratefully appreciated
Martin
So far this is what I have
Hi Martin,
Great idea, since I'm going to do the same later, estimated in 2011.
Philippines I've heard the following. On entry you have to pay taxes around the value of the bike.
Leaving the PI at the same point (entry=exit) you'll get the money back, but this can take weeks.
(Who likes to give back money?)

Ho White and the Seven Dwarfs
Apropos of nothing. Those Ozzies are rascals.
Just read a splendidly funny news article about the Disney Corporation being 'up in arms' when a Oz drinks company used the attached photo in their latest ad campaign. Brilliant:D.
Was going to append names of prominent Philippine board members to each of the naughty dwarfs but couldn't be arsed and besides there isn't a black dwarf;).
