Proposed passport requirements.
As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.
Under the proposed implementation plan, the following documents will be acceptable to fulfill document requirements:
U.S. Passport: U.S. citizens may present a valid U.S. passport when traveling via air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda, and may also use a U.S. passport when traveling via sea and land borders (including ferry crossings).
The Passport Card (also referred to as the PASS Card): This limited-use passport in card format is currently under development and will be available for use for travel only via land or sea (including ferries) between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. Similar in size to a credit card, it will fit easily into a wallet.
DOS and DHS also anticipate that the following documents will continue to be acceptable for their current travel uses under WHTI: SENTRI, NEXUS, FAST, and the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document. As proposed, members of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty traveling on orders will continue to be exempt from the passport requirement.
My next favorite things to shoot
Carbines, rifles, pistols; my next favorite things to shoot.
Yes, they're issued Colt M16's and M4's. Maybe it's another lend/lease program. Anyway, not to get off topic or anything, I was watching some motorcycle show last week starring Jesse James. Kid Rock and he were sightseeing in Mexico. While they're deep in the desert about 30 yards from the highway, a couple of soldiers approach them carrying M4's (it's all staged). Jesse James states that the soldiers are carrying Mini14's. Doh. Even my wife knows an M4 or an M4gery.
BTW, Thumperr, they are magazines, not clips.

Boystown Nuevo Laredo good old days
All this chat talk about guns really has me worried. I have not been back to be-town since June 2005. I had'nt heard all the news about the drug cartels and shootings and it really looked emptier to me back then. I guess I had been to be-town each year since 1998.2005. I think I mentioned this before in a previous blog I was jailed at the front of the compound for taking pictures of the musicians playing by the taco stand. I hadnt read any of the great info available on this website. We are fortunate to have something like this available.
Anyhow- Thecops /guards had me in there for waht seemd like an hour or so, the cops emptied my wallet. I really was quite scared.so I never returned to be-town-(luckily I had money hidden in a money belt to get a cab back to the bridge.)This coming from guywho has defended himself in gang fights as a youth and fought overseas but there is something scary about being jailed in Mexico especially when your wife and family think you are on a business trip to San Antonio. I fugure its all my wife's fault anyway because she wouldnt get physical after our son was born. I need to get back to Mexico but where is it safer than Nuevo Laredo?
Female cop at boystown entrance is checking taxi
I went to boystown about two weeks ago and got a rub down from the front cops. I was sure she was going to take a few bills from my wallet or pants. She just pat me down and let me on my way. Made me very nervous. The taxi driver was laughing and telling me to get out for a search. The rest of the night went fine. Local thug followed me into Danash. I acted like he was not there and he left after I did not buy him a beer. I did find a stellar girl called Nelly at Papas. She is short with blond hair and hangs around another girl with the same look but taller than her. I plan on doing a double with her friend May 5.
