Shark Alert UP
The man Belgrath gives some really good advice below, trust me after having made dozens of trips in these clubs and have experienced exactly what he warns off. Do as he says and you will get a much better bang for your buck!

Definitely would pay more attention during the interview and would act interested and maybe let my hands roam a little and see how she reacts or touches back in response (especially if I then bought her 1 drink if she passes the first step (chatting)).

In bars like Adelita, Chicago and HK, if the girl comes up to me at all I'm immediately suspicious. Many of them I do the approach or send a mesero over to fetch her for me. Most of the time the girls the will go from guy to guy hitting them up versus waiting to be picked out are the ones that are older/uglier/fatter/etc -- especially at Chicago. Shudder. Over at Adelita the girls that will come up to me will often come offering extras in their opening pitch like BBBJ and a $40 price tag. But many of these girls I wouldn't do for free.
I know it isn't gentlemanly to tell a girl you're not interested, but this isn't the high school fall dance. You don't have to be a dick about it, but tell her you're not interested. I think a lot of those 3rd stringers make most of their money from guys that are too timid to say no. Every girl in the bar will bang you, you don't have to settle.
I will always invest the $7.50 for the ficha drink to see how she is and if I don't feel any magic I'll say hasta luego. I'd rather waste $7 on a drink than the $60+$12+$1 "teeeps mr" room guy. So far I've not been disappointed on my countless trips arriba in TJ. Part of it is setting expectations. I don't expect GFE, but a PSE with a girl that wants me as a repeat. I have about 10 girls at AB, 4 at Chicago and 6 at Hong Kong I have on my repeat list. They'll all rock my world. When I go down there I like to have a few chicas a night, at a new girl or two and a favorita or two. Last weekend I ended up with 100% repeats with girls that after a few sessions remember what I like and didn't disappoint.

Dealing with Sharks
The best way to deal with a shark or a suspected shark is to be as direct as they are.
For example: if the girl approaches you and you don't have "hello" out yet before she starts selling you on an arriba, then tell her it' not a very good sign when the girl wants arriba without a friendly chat first and a squeeze test.
Tell her this behavior usually means that she insists on the money up front, doesn't want to please her client with a great session, tries to get her client to blow early and does other things to turn the session into a real shit pot of an experience.
Then ask her if she thinks she would that way if you took her up. Ask her how she would be different than one of these "other" girls.
Tell her that "some girls" just lay there and don't participate in the session; you're not looking for that kind of action. Ask her if she does that in the room. Then tell her that the price is for HER to fuck YOU, not the other way around. See what color she turns.
If the girl knows that you know the score, she'll probably show her true colors by walking away; she knows you're not going to take a bad session lightly.
AB is not a giggle-hut. It's a place where business transactions take place. She is not as interested in basking in the after-glow with you at her side post session as she is in getting back on the floor. You don't want to spend the rest of the evening regretting a bad session with a "trophy" fuck. Keep your head on straight and qualify the girl - don't be stupid. If she doesn't come across with the right answers, let her finish her drink and the kick her lose. Better yet, kick her lose with the drink, you have no more time to waste on her.
Not sessioning a bad session is smart because it saves you money, time, aggravation etc.
Now: how well can you do that and have fun at the same time?

Daytime Action
So tommorow I got a morning trip to TJ to pick up a friend around noon. I basically got from 10-12 to find some action. Anyone got some advice? I'm not even sure there is any action going on so early in the day.

Great advice Country John, I could not have said it any better. Any time I stray from the protocol of sellecting a girl, be it at AB/CC/HK, it reminds me that this is a P4P business transaction only. I am always better off for it.

Thanks for the great advice Country John. Nothing like being honest and upfront with them.

Maybe I'm a bit late in posting this for you, but don't worry; the Zona is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I've had my share of "ups and downs" too, but what I developed was a mannerism where I could do all of that and be a nice guy too. After all, it's a good time and you should have fun with it.
I guaranfuckintee you that there are no shortages of girls out there. Go up when it feel right and your girl passed the squeeze test.

After a few years you will get the hang of it. After several years you will feel like a mind reader.
It takes me all of one minute or less to size up a chica these days. Sometimes I can tell just by observing them.

Looking for large women
I love larger women and TJ does have its share. Does anyone know where I could find some big women in TJ?

There is an absolutely stunning "mama" at HK club. I have no idea what her name is but her body was to die for.
She was there almost every night I was there.
Besides her there are some street walkers who fit your bill.

Las Chavales is known for having + sized women often (aka Las Chubbies). Usually not too tall though.

Where's my propina?
Every morning, very early, entire families come to town from the various ranchos and colonias that lie in the outskirts of Tijuana. These are places without sewers, electricity and most without running water. Most are unemployed and some are very old while others are very young.
They are the poorest of the poor, socio-economic outcasts in an already depressed economy that was already way behind the times in the best of times.
They come to town to sell gum, do acrobatics in the intersections during your red light, sell baked goods, pottery, plaster castings; just about everything you could imagine.
Some come down at night to commit crimes. They do the same bad things that bad people in the USA do.
The people who come down to sell wares (vendadores abulantes) work all day and well into the night. The little kids you see at the border would belong to this group. I've spoken to guys and girls in their 30's who literally grew up selling shit at the border; they tell me they remember their parents doing it when they were very very young kids. They were taught how to keep from getting run over. They are better able to handle rejection than anyone in the world IMHO.
Living in TJ you get to see much more than you would if you stick to the Zona Norte. IN many areas of TJ, groups of these families work to feed themselves and it is a family affair. It's worth pointing out that on many occasions I chatted with girlies that you could put on stage at AB; they were flat out gorgeous.
At night (late), they pile into the back of a pickup truck, van or car and head back to their rancho to sleep, then the whole thing starts again the next day. There are no holidays, no vacations etc. This tradition spans generations; entire lifetimes.
I learned that they are people too. They don't mean harm, they don't want to inconvenience, they don't have evil on their minds. Most don't ask for money for nothing; there is usually some sort of exchange involved, like candy, gum soda, flowers etc.
They are more certain about their future than most of us are. They are more secure than most of us and even though their quality of living is worse than most of us could imagine, their quality of life is healthier. They bear their burdens with a level of acceptance and nobility that Americans could well learn from. They are polite, kind and courteous, they are respectful and accommodating. They are interesting to talk to and they work at least 3 times harder than you and I.
So when they walk in front of you in the line at the border selling their stuff or juggling their tennis balls with their kids running around as steam rises from the mobile cooking carts and the banda music blares in the background; just remember you are sitting in the middle of a tradition that's a lot older than you are. Appreciate that and show some respect. If all these people had run down from the hills to club yo to death then it would be a different story, of course, but the opposite is the case. Respect them for what they do, but admire them for what they don't do. They are not on a criminal flow, they believe in a fair exchange and they take advantage of an opportunity to make money; something else Americans could well learn from.
Regarding propinas or tips, my rule is that "If you got it, give it." If you don't got it, smile and tell them so. Just don't forget to smile.

Nice report CJ. Although not all are part of that tribe. Some I've met admitted having once been americans with too many strikes resulting in deportation and now a life of hawking cheesy wares, shinning shoes etc.
